The Latin blared loudly throughout the luxurious downtown Detroit loft. The vibration of the speakers bouncing off the walls. The home was filled to maximum capacity. Sweaty, half-naked bodies either grinding against one another or swinging off the various stripper poles located in the living room. Blue agave tequila bottles, cases of Corona beers, and sparkling white wines covered the marble countertops. The partygoer's skin had a pink hue to it due to the pink and red disco balls that shined down from the ceiling. Various neon-colored pills were scattered across the living room table beside used red solo cups. In the midst of the chaos, Epiphany sat on the sink in the master bathroom with her phone clutched in her hands.
〘𝙸 𝚗𝚎𝚎𝚍 𝚜𝚘𝚖𝚎 𝚌𝚊𝚗𝚍𝚢〙
As she awaited Rio's reply, the dancer helped herself to another sip of her Corona. The incoming 'ding' of a new message from her phone caused her to straighten up.
《𝚆𝚑𝚊𝚝 𝚔𝚒𝚗𝚍?》
She couldn't stop the smile that crept across her lips as the memory of him and his hauntingly beautiful eyes swept across her mind.

After sending her location, Epiphany began drowning down the last few drops of her beer, and her friends barged into the bathroom. "¡Oye! ¿Dónde están los refrescos de la fiesta, huh?"Valentina asked. The Mexicana pulled her waist-length hair into a messy bun with her claw clip. The four girls behind her agreed with a simple 'yea!' in unison.
"The refreshments are coming any minute now." Epiphany replied. She impatiently refreshed her message box once again. Her attention then turned towards Valentina. "Yo, if Mario snorts any more coke he's gonna start needing little blue pills to have a good time."
"That happened about 200 lines ago." Valentina scoffed as their friends laughed.
"Guzmán is her prey tonight." Their mutual friend, Jasmine, joked.
"Mira, esta noche la luna está llena y mi cama está vacía y Guzmán está soltero y solo así que…" Valentina replied with a wiggle of her eyebrows. Which caused the ladies to giggle. {ʟᴏᴏᴋ, ᴛᴏɴɪɢʜᴛ ᴛʜᴇ ᴍᴏᴏɴ ɪs ғᴜʟʟ ᴀɴᴅ ᴍʏ ʙᴇᴅ ɪs ᴇᴍᴘᴛʏ ᴀɴᴅ ɢᴜᴢᴍᴀɴ ɪs sɪɴɢʟᴇ ᴀɴᴅ ʟᴏɴᴇʟʏ sᴏ…}

A pleased smirk spread across Epiphany's lips, and she proceeded to send him a kiss emoji before jumping off the sink. "Our refreshments are here chicas." The girls cheered as Epiphany slipped on her mink fur coat. Her metallic-gold, rhinestone-studded bikini was no match for the Detroit midnight wind. As she made her way out of the bathroom and through the crowd, Epiphany's six-inch stilettos tapped against the floor. Her heartbeat sped up at the thought of seeing him. She wondered if he would be wearing a black button-down shirt like the night they'd met. Black usually made everyone look chic and classy. But for Rio, that color was made for him.
She daydreamed about him throughout the elevator ride downstairs. But, it wasn't the dark knight that awaited her. Instead, it was a shorter, more buff, heavily tattooed male that she Rio with at the strip club.
"Not who you were expecting?" Mick questioned as he took notice of Epiphany's raised eyebrow.
"You don't exactly look like Willie Wonka." She responded while digging into her pocket for the cash.
"I'm his brother." He replied monotonously as they traded goods.
The exchange humbled almost in audible chuckles before they went their separate ways. Time passed by slowly the moment that Ephipany and her friends were faced with the baggies of drugs they were faced with. Excitement filled their eyes as they sat together in the bathroom. Valentina cut semi-thick lines of cocaine across her iPhone with her Amex card. Epiphany passed around the Adderall while Maria refilled their flute glasses with tequila.
A few bangs upon the door caused the girls to flinch and caused one of them to yell, "Vete a la mierda pendejo!" Eventually, it did stop, and the group carried on with their fun. The moment the ivory-colored powder hit the roof of Epiphany's nostril, it was like she'd been shot with adrenaline. The familiar euphoric bliss that made her world go from average to sunshine and fucking rainbows. She drowned four lines without so much as a sniffle, and after that, the party finally started for her. Epiphany felt like she could run a marathon, but instead, she danced.
Wildly, Epiphany danced topless on top of tables in the middle of the living room. Her loose curls bounced in the air as she grinds against her friends. "Y yo voy, voy, voy!" She and her friends sang along to Daddy Yankee at the top of their lungs. Her breasts bounced up as she began jumping along with the crowd. The feeling of her heart beating roughly against her chest as if it were clawing out of her body was the climax before the crash. She could feel the rapid beat of the music vibrating off her skin. Valentina's sweaty hands on her hips as they swayed together. Her nose is stuffy and wet, just like her eyes. Her mouth grew dry, and by the heavy pressure she felt in her chest, Epiphany knew that she couldn't bear another line or another Adderall.
"Fuck…" She breathed out as she made her way off the table. Her friends were so wasted that they didn't notice her stumble into the master bedroom. But Epiphany didn't mind because she wanted to leave quietly anyway. Her coat was thrown beside the empty bed, Just where she had left it. Picking the mink up from the floor, Epiphany slipped it over her half-naked body. As she buttoned it up, her stomach began to growl. The craving for salty, cheesy eggs swept over her as she sank onto the bed. Eggs made her think of him. Their shared breakfast the morning after consisted of eggs and bacon.
Epiphany sighs to herself with glee at the thought of him. She proceeds to search for a Xanax tablet in her jacket before popping it into her once retrieved. An opened bottle of champagne was located on the bedside table and she washed her tablet down with it. 'Breakfast sounds really good right now.' she thought to herself before texting Rio. She yearned to see him. To Feel his hands across her skin. To feel his lips against hers.

The bubbles of the champagne tickled the back of her throat as she sipped it. Not expecting him to respond, Epiphany stuffed her phone back into her pocket and left the bedroom. Just like every other party she went to, the dancing and drugs always turned things into one big orgy. The living room was a sea of naked bodies colliding and others laid out cold. The dancer spilled out of the loft quietly and took the elevator to the parking lot. The cool air provided a sense of comfort to her hot skin. As she walked along the quiet streets of the affluent area of Detroit, Rio sat at the bar on the opposite side of town.
The Chicago gangster had sat in self-isolation with a glass of Pappy Van Winkle bourbon in his hands. Beth was a person he could only handle in small doses or else, the urge to off her would be too great. Hot and cold she was and even when she invited him to sleep over her new home…he didn't. Basking in his own solitude was how he spent his nights when his child wasn't in his care. It was hard for him to trust people in a city of snakes. His thick eyebrows began to knit together the moment he received the text. A little taken aback that Epiphany had texted at this hour. Based on the order Mick dropped off, Rio figured she'd either be knocked out cold or in someone's bed.
For a solid five minutes, he stared at the text. Debating with himself on what his next move would be. But in the end, Rio ended up getting into his car and driving to pick her up. He hadn't thought much of it, instead, he acted off impulse. Epiphany was intriguing in a fun way. She was energetic and fiery. He had a thing for a girl with spice. Her direct yet sassy attitude amused him. When he rolled into the 7/11 parking lot, his eyebrows raised at the sight of her. Her fur coat fit her like a mini dress; it felt right above her knees. A look of relaxation across her face as she sipped on a cherry cola. He couldn't help but admire how enchanted she looked underneath the moonlight. She had this type of 'untamed beauty' about her. Effortless. He found her to be sexy in a sultry way. Rio proceeded to step out of the car and make his way around the driver's side to the front of the car, "Hey Champ."
"You came." Epiphany cheered with glee as she made her way over to him.
"I told you I would." Rio chuckled.
"Yeah well, my bad I thought I'd die of hunger before you got here." She giggled as her face grew hot.
"Nah." He smiled humorously, "I wouldn't do you like that."
Epiphany couldn't help but swoon. Rio had the most beautiful smile she had ever seen. "You're so pretty. Like really… really pretty." she blurted out. A starry look in her eyes and a dazed smile on her lips.
"And you're drunk."
"I am but a drunk always speaks the truth,'' she argued.
Their laughs went together like a symphony to an orchestra. And for a moment their eyes lingered on one another. Wanderlust about each other was thick in the air that night. Rio only grinned and proceeded to open the passenger side door for her. As soon as Epiphany was inside and they started their journey through the city, Rio asked her "So, what are you in the mood for?"
"Hmm…eggs but not scrambled. So, Tamagoyaki and sashimi sound good."
"I took you for more of the California roll type," Rio commented.
"Nah, not spicy enough for me. I like the devil roll or the ninja." Epiphany grinned. Every so often she would take her gaze off of him and look at the Chicago nightlife, "I love the night. Even when there's parties and whatever else going on, there's still a sense of solitude and peace."
"You enjoy being solitude?" Rio wondered aloud.
"Yes, the majority of the time." Epiphany nodded, "With exceptions. What about you?"
"Marcus Aurelius once said 'He who lives in harmony with himself-" Rio began to say before being cut off by Epiphany.
"Lives in harmony with the universe." she grinned.
The Chicago gangster gave her a look of enchantment. Impressed by her knowledge of stoicism. "Yeah, exactly. That's what I live by," he replied with a slight raspiness to his voice. He ended up taking them to an after-hours Japanese Michelin-star restaurant called Hachiman. Which was named after the god of peace of Japan. The space was very intimate. No more than fifty tables. The walls were a deep shade of Jade-green with black marble tables and buttery-smooth leather booth seats. Gold-colored oil lamps hung from the ceilings giving the restaurant a cozy, dim-lighted ambiance.
Epiphany and Rio walked side by side to their table. His hand rested on the middle of her back as Epiphany walked slowly due to feeling a bit 'loose' from all her party favors. His hand on her back provided a sense of stability.
As they sat across from one another Epiphany lowered her coat a few inches below her shoulders to catch some air. Rio's eyes then lingered along her skin. It looked dewy and luminous. Her shoulder blades held a slight golden shimmer to them. He could faintly smell cherry radiating off of her. Rio was a man with a very sharp memory and paid great attention to detail. It was what kept him in the game for so long. He took notice of the Chanel Paradoxe watch on her wrist. That wasn't cheap. Not in the slightest. It cost her a good 230 gs or more. It sparked his interest and a call to Mick to find out more about her would be made sooner than later.
Suddenly, she giggled. More to herself than him. But before Rio could ask her anything, Epiphany clarified, "I didn't take you for the type to be into Martha Stewart."
He slightly tilted his head to the side. A blank expression on his face as he attempted to register what she had said.
"I mean no offense to your girl but come on…"Epiphany's cheeks puffed up as she fought back a laugh, "The haircut…the blazer or peacoat…whatever it is…it's giving Martha Stewart. "
Epiphany had successfully broken Rio's stoic expression. He let out a vibrant laugh. A fruitful, joyous laugh that caused his eyes to close and his head to tilt back. Their dinner consisted of laughter over drinks and sushi, sashimi and more drinks. Rio was impressed how well she held her liquor. For the most part, Epiphany was just flirty and playful. By the time dessert rolled around, their conversation rolled back around to Beth. "We're business partners." Rio clarified. "Everyone's got their role."
"Ah, and where does fucking and emotions come into that?," Epiphany questioned. Followed by indulging in a spoonful of matcha ice cream and chocolate.
Rio laughed in response, "Collateral damage control." His left brow rose "What makes you think that, champ?"
"Los ojos…the way she looks at you," Epiphany licks the cream from her spoon, "Eso es intimacy. It's personal."
"Way I see it is, it ain't no different than what you do, yeah? " Rio shot back, "Usas lo que tienes para conseguir lo que quieres, tu servicio es el deseo."
{you use what you got to get what you want, your service is desire.}
Epiphany slipped her foot out of her heel, smoothly rolling her foot across his thigh as she smiled. "Sí. It's not hard to get what you want when they want you back." Rio raised his glass with a smirk across his lips and the pair clicked their glasses together.
And when the night was no longer young and the sun began to awaken, He had driven her home. An upscale building located in the center of the city. His arm wrapped around her waist as she held onto him for support. "That's meee," she sang as she punched the code into her front door's keypad. Epiphany spun on her heel and smiled up at him. They'd only been an inch apart in height. Epiphany narrowed her eyes in on his as she batted her lashes. "Are you coming in?"
"Nah, gotta be up in a few hours." He replied. Their eyes lingered in on each other for what felt like hours but were mer moments. Epiphany abruptly tugged him closer by the collar of his shirt, her fingers looping around his golden chair. Her lips colliding with his. Epiphany's lips felt tender against his; Rio shuddered when her body moved against his. Her scent plaguing his skin. His hands gently grasped at the sides of her face as he kissed her deeply in return.
Epiphany felt jitters in her stomach and excitement bloomed within her chest. The intense heat that crept up her body as their mouths moved in a waltz-slow sync was short lived. "I'll see you later." He rasped against her mouth before leaving a few lingering kisses to the side of her jaw. He held her in his hands for a a few lingering moments. As she slowly opened her eyes, His warm hands slid over hers.
"Good morning." was all she could say with a giddy yet bashful smile painted across her face. The smile he gave her made Epiphany feel as though she were melting like a scoop of ice cream. His smile stayed in her mind until her head finally hit the pillows of her bed. That morning, she slept with a smile on her face.

Hello! I want to try vegan British Chinese food, but I live in Canada. Do you have any recipes or tips for making it at home?
That's a great idea, I'll link a few recipes for some of the classics:
Salt and Pepper tofu (this is my favourite)
Sweet and sour tofu
Tofu Foo Yung
Vegan duck pancakes
Vegan battered fish
Chip-shop style chips - salt and malt vinegar are essential. Serve with the fish, curry sauce or covered in onion/mushroom gravy. Chip balm (chips on a large bread bun with the sauce or gravy on top is also traditional)
Vegan fried rice
Chip shop curry sauce
Vegetable spring rolls
Vegan chow mein - I’d substitute agave syrup for maple.
There are plenty of alternative recipes around, so try a few if you don't have much success with the version I've provided here.
Have fun with it!

Location: Lia's & Sahra's house, Beach Front Starter for: @sahrademir
"Why is your hot brother blowing up the sibling group chat? My phone has been non stop buzzing for the last two minutes." Scraping out the pulp of the passionfruit she had just cut in half, Lia glanced over to her best friend, just as their phones buzzed again. "If he's talking about someone he met, tell him I'm heartbroken and devastated."
Mixing the ingredients for frozen margaritas into the drinks machine, it didn't escape her that long gone were the Saturday nights she would be dressed up to the nines and out in Hollywood. Instead, she was making her own frozen margaritas in a tracksuit and her hair in a slightly greasy bun. "Did you see thing one and thing two did another interview about how super loved up they still are? It was fucking nauseating. Literally, how did we both end up dating two disgusting human beings?" Pouring out the now blended drink into the glasses, she slid one over to Sahra. "Passion fruit margarita. I put agave in there as well, it might be too sweet. But there's also a fuck ton of tequila so if you can taste anything other than that, we'll be lucky."

Handcuffs and Fireworks
so agatha didn’t get the whip, but she did give eve other presents....
agatha harkness/eve fletcher
@our-blood-is-our-ink and @wandakink, you both asked for more agave stuff, so here you go.  (i’ll maybe hit up glass onion holiday special next????)
Fireworks….
Really aren’t their thing, and you’ll forgive me if I steal from another one of my ships to bring them here just for a few moments to set up the mood.
The Haddington Fall Festival always ends with a spectacular display of fireworks, but Eve knows better than to view them from the festival itself. Here, they will be loud and boisterous and a lot of children will be scampering around holding their hands over their ears and they could stand very close and look straight up into the sky to see them bright above them, but she’s always thought that fireworks looked better from a mile or two away, when the pops and blasts are muted by distance, where the whole of the show can be seen with a little bit of perspective.
And, more importantly, with a mug of pumpkin spice hot chocolate topped with inches of whipped cream cradled in her hands, the steam rising into the air just a reminder of what her breath will do in only a few weeks’ time, when the already chilly world grows a little more colder, just before the snow begins to fall.  Every year, Eve hopes they’ll get snow before December, maybe around Thanksgiving this year, since Brendan should be back for his (admittedly short) break, and every year the first flake obstinately refuses to fall until that twelfth month.  One year, the weatherman had even forecast snow on that last day of November, and Eve had stayed awake, standing outside, staring at the cloud-laden sky, and waited, daring to hope.  The clock had struck midnight, and only then had the first flake landed on the tip of her nose. She still hopes now, but perhaps with a little more salt in her veins.
As the bright sparkling lights of the fireworks show – green, blue, red, and gold – fade into the sky above, replaced by the much more familiar light of the stars, Eve leans her head against Agatha’s shoulder and lets out a sigh. What a perfect end to a perfect day, she says, pretending not to remember the earlier conversation with Jane and how it had been mostly unresolved.
That’s the end?  Agatha tips her black cowboy hat back; it looks better now that she’s taken her hair out of her bun and let it fall in untidy waves down her shoulders.  She leans back in her chair, shoves her hands in her pockets, and taps the toe of one of the boots resting on Eve’s patio table. It doesn’t matter that she’s in one of those far too expensive alpaca wool sweaters (dyed a soft lavender with black accents – oddly perfect with the hat), she still looks for all the world like a cowgirl who should have a sprig of wheat stuck in one corner of her mouth.  I don’t get to use the whip, hon?
Eve’s eyes widen, but she doesn’t turn to Agatha, forces herself to take what is nearly the final sip of her pumpkin spice hot cocoa, before saying, in a tone of voice a little too tight and high-pitched than she wants, You bought it?
Scared, babe?  Agatha chuckles.  She reaches across and threads her hand through Eve’s dark hair.  No.  I didn’t get back in time.
Eve’s breath catches again.  You were going to buy it?  Her voice comes out as a squeak.
Agatha just chuckles again as she pets Eve.  I don’t think you’re ready for the whip, hon.  You flinch when I bite too hard.
I like when you bite too hard.
I like when you flinch.  Agatha runs an ice cold finger down Eve’s neck, but Eve shivers.  Hm. Disappointing.
You’re so cold, Eve says, shivering again. Then she finishes her hot cocoa, smacks her lips twice, and then stands.  Show’s over.  Let’s get inside where it’s warm.
Agatha catches Eve’s shirt at the rest and tugs her back.  Kiss first.
Eve pauses.  Raises an eyebrow.  Clean up first.  Then maybe I’ll reward you.
With a kiss?
Maybe more, Eve purrs, taking her shirt out of Agatha’s grasp and backing, slowly, to her back door.  You’ll just have to wait and find out.
Agatha fakes a pout as she stands.  I hate waiting, she says, crossing the distance between them and placing her hands on Eve’s waist.  Why don’t I take a kiss now, hon, she kisses the tip of Eve’s nose, and then I can help.
Agatha.
Fine.  Agatha fakes a groan, but her mischievous smile doesn’t disappear.  Show me what you want me to do, date master.
~
Approximately thirty minutes later, if that, Agatha presses Eve hard against the hallway, one hand flat against the wall, the other pushing roughly through her hair, thigh already angling between her legs.  Eve lets out a moan, easy, as Agatha’s lips find her neck, as she begins to suck on her skin, one hand already pushing beneath Agatha’s shirt to feel her skin warm at her touch, fingers of the other pressing into the nape of Agatha’s neck.  Agatha breaks away, brushes her nose along the sensitive skin where Eve’s jaw ends, and murmurs darkly, I missed you, babe.
I didn’t— Eve’s voice cuts out as Agatha begins to nibble on her ear as she presses her harder against the wall, thigh against that spot on Eve’s pants that makes her whine. I didn’t go anywhere.
No, but I still—  Agatha rams her against the wall, and Eve flinches, looks up to a bright grin hovering above her.  I missed you.
Eve gets it.  She does.  I missed you, too, she whispers.
Agatha’s a tease, brushing her nose against Eve’s and keeping her lips just out of reach, no matter how much Eve leans up to them.  Girlfriend, huh?  Maybe I should be rewarding you.
Eve’s eyes widen.  What do you—
Agatha reaches into her back pocket and pulls out a shiny silver set of toy handcuffs.  I didn’t get the whip, she says, breath hot against Eve’s lips, but I thought you might like to try something else.
I want to touch you.  Eve’s fingers curl against the skin of Agatha’s waist.  Please, love, I want to touch you.
Oh, my sweet child.  Agatha’s lips move against hers.  Whoever said you had to wear them?
Oh.
Eve leans up on her tiptoes, opens her mouth desperately against Agatha’s, nails sharp into her skin.  I think you might be the best girlfriend I’ve ever had.
I’m the only girlfriend you’ve ever—
Eve kisses her again, cuts her off, nips Agatha’s tongue, and takes the cuffs from Agatha’s open hands.
~
Is this…is this too hard? Eve asks, lifting Agatha’s wrists where they’re cuffed behind the dining room chair and then letting them fall with a jangle of the silver chain.  I mean – I mean tight, not hard.
They’re supposed to be tight, babe.  Agatha glances over her shoulder, clenches and unclenches her fingers.  I should be good, but I’ll let you know if my hands start to go numb.
Eve places a hand on Agatha’s bare shoulder as she moves around the chair but pauses at that.  They can do that?  She glances down at Agatha, suddenly afraid.  Maybe I should—
No, no, babe.  I’ll be fine.  Agatha tilts her head, gesturing Eve the rest of the way around. C’mon.  You’ll be fine.  She lifts her wrists, lets them fall back with another jangle, pulls against them until the toy cuff presses into her wrists, and then smiles.  My safe word is Salem, so if you hear that at any time, you stop, okay?
Agatha Harkness, I am not going to hurt you—
It’s not just about pain, hon, Agatha says, meeting her eyes. Sometimes it’s just getting overwhelmed.  Fear, maybe.  But a lot of sensations all at once…it’s good, sometimes, to stop.  Okay?
Eve nods slow.  Okay.  She bites her left thumbnail, staring at Agatha, who…isn’t stripped bare in front of her, but is at least missing her shirt.  What if I want to take your bra off? I can’t just…with your wrists like that—
Agatha chuckles.  Hon.  It’s not that hard—
I’ve never done anything like this before, Agatha; don’t you tell me it’s not hard.  Eve worries her thumbnail.  How do I even—?  She tucks her dark hair back behind one ear and then steps forward, carefully curls herself, straddling, on Agatha’s lap, and swallows once.  Hey.
Hello, most beautiful girlfriend in the world, Agatha replies, lips curving with mischief.  I’m a little tied up at the moment, so I can’t help you, but—
Oh, hush.
Eve cups Agatha’s face in both hands and leans down until their foreheads just touch.  Her hair falls about her face, curtains them together, and her head tilts as her thumb runs along Agatha’s lips, tugs down on the lower one.  She considers, then slips her thumb between Agatha’s lips, and grins when Agatha takes it between her teeth, eyes never leaving Eve’s.  Close your eyes.
Agatha does as she says without complaint or witty quip.  She takes a deep breath in, chest pushing upward, and on an instinct, Eve leans down, kisses the soft curve of one breast. When Agatha takes in a sharp breath, Eve takes her thumb from her mouth, runs it down Agatha’s chin, and presses it gentle on her throat, contemplating as Agatha’s breath grows harder.  She wouldn’t; she’s afraid, but then Agatha gives a little nod, and Eve slowly wraps her hand around Agatha’s throat, gives a squeeze.  Agatha’s breath hitches, and Eve stops all at once.  I can’t, I can’t—
That’s okay, hon, Agatha whispers, soothing.  You don’t have to do anything you don’t want to do.
Eve nods, forgets that Agatha can’t see her nod with her eyes closed, and presses a kiss just where Agatha’s Adam’s apple should be, where her thumb had just pressed gentle into her skin, where a half-moon is left behind from her shorn nail. I’m sorry, she murmurs, soft.  You’ve been such a good girl, and I was so mean to you.  She trails kisses up her neck and slips a hand down, unbuttoning her jeans so that she can run her fingers just under her waistband.  This okay?
Agatha gasps.  Swallows. Babe, it’s just like normal sex, except I can’t touch you and I can’t see you—
That’s not normal sex, Eve says, but she grips Agatha’s hips with both hands, presses her back against the chair.  That’s kinky sex, and I haven’t even seen much of it in any of those porn videos—
Eve—
Okay.  Eve nibbles on Agatha’s ear.  That means I have to get these off of you, doesn’t it?  She starts to push Agatha’s jeans off, stops to squeeze her ass, and then pushes them even slower along her thighs, letting her hands move slow along Agatha’s skin. She doesn’t get them completely off, but Agatha kicks at them until they’re gone as Eve runs her hands up and down Agatha’s thighs.  Spread for me, baby.
Agatha does as she asks, but as Eve begins to literally hum with pleasure, she says, I may have gotten you one more present, dear.
And what, Eve asks, stopping for a few seconds to suck on the skin of Agatha’s waist until she pulls a whine from her girlfriend’s lips (and she’s still thinking about that word, thinking about how warm it makes her feel to hear Agatha use it, thinking that it must make Agatha feel the same way), most precious girlfriend, she pauses to hear the soft moan, grins, would that, she pinches her waist, be?
Go to your bedroom and find out.
Eve pouts, even though she knows Agatha can’t see her.  But I’m having so much fun.  She bites her lower lip – that’s only half true because the other half is still not being sure what she’s doing.  Is it a good present?
One corner of Agatha’s lips curves upward.  The best present an attentive girlfriend could ask for.
Okay.  Eve peels herself from Agatha’s lap and slaps her ass as she walks past with a loud smack. She winces.  Is that—
You’re good unless I say the safe word, Eve.
Fine.  Eve creeps slow to her bedroom, but the present isn’t in her room so much as it is hanging from her doorknob.  She lifts the rosy pink strap from the doorknob, swallows once.  Um. Agatha probably didn’t hear that. Which is fine.  Eve stares at it, at the harness, and bites her thumbnail again. I don’t know how to put this on, dear!
Agatha groans.  Follow the instructions on the back of the picture, babe.  It’s not hard.  A snigger. Actually, it is hard, but—
Eve stops listening.  Stares at the harness.  Swallows again.  Fiddles with the straps, runs her hand along the strap.  You know, maybe this is a lot of new stuff for— She cuts herself off.  No, no, Agatha’s used a strap on her before.  She has ideas for this.  Thinking of them lets a grin spread around her thumb.  You shouldn’t have gotten this for me, Agatha Harkness.
She doesn’t have to see the mischievous smile spreading along Agatha’s lips; she can hear it in her tone.  That is exactly why I got it for you.
~
After—
After Eve has teased; after Agatha has been forced to sit still while Eve figured out how to get the strap inside her (I don’t understand how guys make this look so easy; it’s not answered with It’s honestly not that hard, Eve; you just have to— cut off with a sharp moan and Got it), after Agatha has been forced to sit still even after Eve figured out how to get the strap inside her (Hey and, chattering Eve, I— I— I— and I love you, too, dear.  I told you, you don’t have to say it); after Eve finally unlocked the cuffs around Agatha’s wrists and Agatha immediately leaned up, wrapped her arms around Eve’s waist, and pulled her closer to her but still sat still (babe, please, please, hon, this isn’t—) until Eve gave gentle permission; after Agatha forced Eve down to the floor, held her wrists up and away (let me show you how bondage is done); after Eve squirmed (I don’t like this, Agatha and then, immediately after, No, no, I lied, I, oh, don’t stop, don’t stop, fuck me and the pause of Babe, that is literally what I’m trying to do and the growling I told you don’t stop)—
After—
Eve curls up, runs a finger along Agatha’s bare arm, snuggles tighter against her, rests her breast on her chest, and, remembering much, much earlier, asks without thinking, Did you ever do this with Cian?
Agatha tenses.
Sorry, you don’t have to answer that if you don’t—
Yes.  Agatha traces Eve’s spine.  Often.
Eve doesn’t look up.  She doesn’t want to ask.  She makes herself ask anyway.  What were they like?
Agatha hesitates.  In bed?
No, no.  Eve shakes her head, buries herself in Agatha’s chest, flushing a bright red.  I mean…. I mean, I never got to know them, so, what were they…what were they like?
They were good, Agatha says.  They were very good.  She runs a hand through Eve’s hair.  Can we not talk about them, please?
Eve nods.  Of…of course.  You don’t ever have to talk about them, if you don’t…if you don’t want to.
Thank you, hon. Agatha kisses the top of Eve’s head.  She continues to stroke her fingers through her hair.  Maybe someday, she murmurs.  Just not now.
Okay.  Eve leans up and kisses her.  I love you.
I know.
The answer is, of course, very Agatha.  Eve doesn’t know why she expected anything less.  Maybe it’s the whole girlfriend thing.  But that isn’t fair to Agatha.  She shouldn’t expect her to say that she loves her.  But she still does, and it still hurts that she won’t say it.
So Eve shoves that down, kisses Agatha again, and focuses on that, on how good that feels, on the warmth of being girlfriends, finally having a title for what they are, and not on anything else, not on any of the many, many things still left unresolved, and certainly not on the scars on Agatha’s back that the fingers curved around her waist keep finding and caressing.

Vegan Banh Mi Noodle Bowl, from Feasting at Home
Prep Time: 30 minutes
Cook Time: 15 minutes
Total Time: 45 minutes
Yield: 2 servings
Ingredients
2 ounces dry rice noodles
Boiling water
Quick pickled veggies
1/3 cup rice wine vinegar
1/3 cup water
1 cup matchstick carrots (or grated)
1/2 cup sliced radishes (or try daikon or watermelon radish)
1 teaspoon sugar (or alternative equivalent, honey, maple, coconut sugar)
1/4 teaspoon salt
Creamy siracha dressing (or make peanut sauce, see below)
4 tablespoons veganaise or vegan mayo (or use regular)
1 tablespoon water
1 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
1 tablespoon siracha sauce (or Sambal, or chili garlic sauce)
1 teaspoon sugar or alternative sweetener
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon soy sauce or vegan fish sauce (or regular fish sauce)
Bowl ingredients
6 ounces tofu, patted dry, cut into 1/2 inch cubes (or chicken, see notes)
1 cup thinly sliced cucumber
1 cup thinly sliced cabbage
1/2 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
1/4 cup fresh torn mint leaves
1/2 jalapeño, very thinly sliced
Lime wedges
Optional additions - sprouts, avocado, daikon, grated beet, cilantro
Instructions
1. Cook the noodles: Pour boiling water over rice noodles and let sit 5-6 minutes, or until softened, drain, rinse and set aside.
2. Make the pickles (don’t skip!): At the same time heat 1/3 cup water and 1/3 cup vinegar on the stove in a small pot.
Add sugar, salt,  radishes, and carrots and bring to a simmer, and toss to coat well. Turn heat off.  Place them in a bowl and chill (fridge or freezer for few minutes) - these can be made ahead.
3. Make the creamy sriracha dressing: place ingredients in a small bowl and whisk.
4. Make the crispy tofu: Heat oil in a skillet, and season the oil with salt and pepper. Add the tofu and sear over medium heat until all sides are crispy. Stir in a little sriracha for heat at the end.
5. Prep your veggies. Slice the cucumber, bell pepper and cabbage (using a mandolin is nice, or just very thinly slice).
6. Assemble the bowls: divide the noodles and arrange all the veggies around it. Grab the chilling pickled veggies and divide. Add the tofu to the bowls and Spoon the flavorful dressing overtop.
7. Garnish the bowls with fresh mint, jalapeño slices and lime wedges.
Notes
You could use leftover rotisserie chicken in this, or quickly sauté cubed chicken or shrimp, seasoned with salt and pepper until golden and cooked through, then toss with a little sriacha.
Peanut Sauce, from Feasting at Home
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 10 minutes
Yield: 2 cups
Ingredients
6 thin slices of ginger - cut across the grain, about the size of a quarter. No need to peel
2 fat cloves garlic
1/2 cup fresh orange juice (roughly 1 large orange)
1/3 cup lime juice (2 limes)
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/3 cup maple syrup (or honey, palm sugar, agave), more to taste
1/3 cup toasted sesame oil (6 tablespoons)
1/2 cup unsweetened peanut butter (chunky or smooth, or sub almond butter)
1 teaspoon salt
Optional: 1-2 teaspoons cayenne pepper (or a squirt of siracha sauce)
Instructions
1. Place all ingredients in a blender – ginger, garlic, orange juice, lime juice, soy sauce, maple, sesame oil, and peanut butter and salt,  and blend until smooth. Taste. Adjust sweetness, salt and cayenne to your liking.
Notes
Unripe limes can make this too tart. Adjust by adding more sweetness. Find your perfect balance.
The Orange Juice makes this… and is a MUST!
Peanut sauce will last up to 5 days in a sealed jar in the fridge. Peanut Sauce can be frozen for up to 6 months, just whisk well after thawing.
For added depth or “umami”, feel free to add a tiny splash of fish sauce. Not necessary though!

Premium Subs Subs With Quality Elements
True BBQ isn't steaks, burgers, hot canine at a cottage or small backyard get togethers. Yes, this ketchup is nice and all, however lately I took my love for things made with tomatoes to the next mustard bbq sauce stage, and also needed to woo my husband at the same time. I took on the discerning problem of barbecue sauce.
I was craving bbq rooster and only had slightly bit of sweet baby ray’s. I might use a smidge less vinegar but beloved the liquid smoke in it. Pee Dee River Swamp Sauce may be discovered at Pattan's Downtown Grille in Rockingham, NC. Come attempt our sauce with our award winning barbecue, brisket, or smoked chicken! Our Pattan Special features the sweeter version of Swamp Sauce, higher generally recognized as "Swangy," which could be bought at Pattan's. It’s naturally spicy and flavored by chili peppers.
Actually, our PC® Black Label Gold Barbecue Sauce is in distinction to something we’ve ever made. It’s made in small batches in Canada from home and imported components, with Canadian mustard seeds and apple cider vinegar. Its mustardy base offers this sauce its golden colour and tangy flavour and makes it deliciously completely different from many sweet tomato-based formulation on the market.
Slow-roasted & tender Canadian Certified Angus Beef® piled excessive on garlic panini. Salt & pepper or Frank’s® RedHot® sauce, served with our famous Zoo dip. We take pride in having something on our menu for everyone and that features ensuring we now have veggie and plant-based Impossible™ Burgers. Our well-known wings tossed in your favourite flavour. Every nacho order is made with freshly fried corn tortillas and served with salsa & sour cream.
No Sugar products are the mainstay of of County Fare! Natural sweetener is used that won’t spike insulin ranges, making it excellent for diabetics. They’re low in calories and carbs with zero fats mustard sauce. And they’re low in sodium with just sufficient kosher salt to tickle the style buds and improve the flavour. No colouring or preservatives are used and are non-GMO.
Granny Smith apples in a flaky double-crust personal-sized pie made with all natural elements. Topped with premium vanilla bean ice cream. Our crispy tempura battered cod with coleslaw, tomato & tartar sauce. Our well-known creamy casserole with mushrooms & a touch of curry, oven baked with a buttery herb crust.
Lemon-chargrilled fresh BC rooster breast, Parmesan cream sauce with sautéed mushrooms, green onion & spinach. Lemon-chargrilled contemporary BC hen breast OR crispy buttermilk hen. Your alternative of Caesar salad OR The Spot’s salad. A garlic butter toasted bun topped with a crunchy and juicy rooster mustard based bbq sauce breast, Mach 3 scorching sauce, jalapeños, Swiss cheese, and onion rings. Grilled rooster breast topped with bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, mayonnaise and cheddar cheese.
Centre sizzling sealing discs on clear jar rim. Screw band down until resistance is met, then enhance to fingertip tight. If your homemade barbecue sauce and ketchup are left unopened, it'll last a couple of months. A selfmade ketchup recipe, without the sugar and agave that’s usually added to ketchup you may find on a grocery retailer shelf. Heinz additionally has a reduced sugar possibility, that throws the sugar proper out the door and replaces it with artificial sweetener in the type of sucralose. Or my private favorite, the no-salt ketchup that as a substitute contains one thing they call “ALSOSALT®”.
Over time different areas perfected their own variations and allegiances quickly developed, most notably St. Louis, Memphis and Kansas City. Most of the flavors we take pleasure in today have their roots in the Southern states, particularly the Carolinas.

FALL CSA WEEK 4
P I C K L I S T
RADISH - LETTUCE - BEET GREENS - CELERY - BROCCOLI - SPAGHETTI SQUASH - ONIONS - CARROTS - SWEET PEPPER - POTATOES - DECORATIVE GOURD
BREAD: AUBERGINE BREAD
Today we thank this very kind weather for allowing us to move into Fall harvest and farm clean up with real ease.  Historically, come November, I am deeply buried in layers with fingers freezing.  But not this Fall.  Pooh once told me many many moons ago, that everything you do in winter and Fall is 10 times harder and slower then the same task in Summer.  There is so much truth in that statement.  When the weather drops, farm equipment and trucks take way longer to start, fingers go numb in seconds, and when ice hits, forget about it- it takes 10 years just to walk to the packshed from the greenhouses.  However, this Fall hits like a warm cozy blanket.
Fall cleanup to us means pulling irrigation, mowing off plants, and making sure cover crop seed is down. We finished the potato harvest last Saturday and lack of Summer moisture left us with less than half of a crop, our lowest yields per acre in the last 15 years. But the crop that is there looks pretty good. We knew the harvest wasn't going to be great when there were few sets of tiny tubers in August (when we usually think about harvesting). Yesterday the crew planted next year's garlic crop (total allium magic), then went and pulled some decent fall carrots while Allie and I harvested in t-shirts and no gloves for today’s CSA- not bad at all for this time of year.  SOAK UP THAT SUN EVERYONE!
And lastly, as mentioned in this morning's email, Our lead kitchen queen Laura, is now taking Thanksgiving PIE orders through her side baking hustle, JUMBO HONEY BUN BAKES! Everything Laura does is pastry gold- you would be a fool not to seek out and indulge in everything she makes.
FOR MORE INFO ON JUMBO HONEY BUN THANKSGIVING PIE ORDERS, HEAD HERE:
Also, great news for PIE pick up,
one of the options is in conjunction with the last Fall CSA on Tuesday, Nov. 22nd 4-6pm at our farmstand
and if you'd rather make your own pie, but still wanna try out and devour all things jumbo honey bun,
then head this Saturday, NOV. 5th, to the Reading Greenhouse ART FAIR, 10am-4pm.
We will be going promptly at 10 for breakie treats, See ya there :)
Pro-tips:
Prep Time 25 mins/ Cook Time 40 mins/ Total Time 1 hr 5 mins/ Servings 4
Lime Peanut Sauce
½ inch fresh ginger, peeled and chopped
2 cloves garlic, chopped
1-2 teaspoons hot sauce of your choosing
2 tablespoons peanut butter
½ teaspoon lime zest
1 tablespoon lime juice
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
2 teaspoons agave nectar
1 tablespoon tamari soy sauce
¼ tsp toasted sesame oil (optional)
½ cup grapeseed oil
Spaghetti Squash Noodle Bowl
1 large spaghetti squash, cut in half lengthwise and seeds scooped out
4 cups thinly sliced kale
4-5 cups broccoli florets
½ small red onion, thinly sliced
½ cup chopped toasted nuts (cashews, almonds etc)
3 tablespoons sesame seeds, toasted
½ cup chopped cilantro or parsley
sea salt and ground black pepper, to taste
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 375°F.
Combine all of the sauce ingredients in a blender and blend until fully incorporated. Taste for seasoning and set aside.
Line a baking sheet with parchment and place the squash halves, cut side down, onto the sheet. Bake for about 40 minutes, or until the flesh pulls away in easy strands.
While the squash is baking, place the sliced kale in a large bowl and set aside.
Once you’ve taken the squash out of the oven, set a medium saucepan with about an inch of water over medium heat. Bring it to a simmer. Place the broccoli florets into a steamer basket and drop it into the pot, closing the lid on top. Let the broccoli steam for 3-4 minutes, or until tender. Keep warm.
While broccoli is steaming, scrape the spaghetti strands out with a fork into the large bowl with the sliced kale. The heat from the squash should wilt the kale slightly. Pour a big splash of the dressing into the bowl, season with salt and pepper and lightly toss the squash and kale.
Remove broccoli from the heat. Portion the squash and kale into 4 bowls. Top each bowl with the steamed broccoli, red onions, chopped nuts, sesame seeds, chopped herbs and extra sauce.
Equipment
Blender
Recipe Notes
Definitely use the sharpest knife you've got for the spaghetti squash. You don't want to be pulling a stubborn knife out of a half-cut squash.
You could also use tahini, almond butter, or sunflower seed butter in place of the peanut butter
MIREPOIX YOUR CARROTS ONIONS CELERY before you make your soups!!
Mirepoix is the magical combination of carrot-onion-celery.  This Is the base of all things delicious- think sauce, stew, soup, stock, etc… These vegetables are diced, cooked for a long time in a fat of your choice on gentle heat without browning- the intention being to sweeten rather than caramelize. Similarly, is Creole version known as the Holy Trinity using onion, celery, and sweet peppers!  As we enter soup season- adopting this holy trinity seems appropriate.
Many types of cuisine have a term for this way of building a flavor base with chopped and gently sauteed vegetables. The Italians say soffrito, the French say mirepoix, but we can all agree that it creates a subtle but rich depth of flavor in all kind of soups, braises, and more.  Carrot, onion, and celery are the classic players, but there are as many approaches to sweating as there are names. You can chop in a tiny, regular dice or in rougher chunks; you can swap in ingredients on hand in a ratio that tastes right to you. A Manhattan restaurant kitchen I cooked in used fennel in addition to the classics, and cooked each vegetable separately before mixing them together to form a base for a whole array of sauces.
Here are the essential things to keep in mind whenever you're starting a dish with sweating, where the goal is not to make the vegetable flavors assertive individually but rather to set the stage so that starring ingredients added later can shine.
Slow and low heat wins the race. Heat the oil in your pan only enough that it makes the barest sizzle when the vegetables go in, and keep it low. The idea is to soften and flavor the vegetables gradually; they should barely darken in color.
A big pinch of salt draws out moisture quickly and speeds UP the process.
Keep a watchful eye as the mixture cooks; at a certain point it will begin to noticeably darken in color, which will affect flavor. That's not necessarily bad, but depending on the other ingredients in the dish you may want a more delicate or a more intense flavor from the vegetable base.
You'll get much more tenderness and flavor this way vs. adding aromatic vegetables to a soup later. A broth will never go above the temperature of boiling water, whereas low stove heat channeled through a small amount of oil or butter will heat vegetables beyond the boiling point and do more to soften and concentrate their flavor.
It's up to you how long you let your vegetables sweat (or how soon you take mercy on them). But a good handle on the process will go a long way towards letting you consistently reproduce recipes in your own kitchen--and, I suspect, will keep your friends coming back for second bowls of whatever you're cooking up this fall. --Chris Morocco

inspired by this post but. drastically different outside of snagging the concept.
agatha harkness x eve fletcher
trigger warnings for eve being pregnant, i guess? also this is an entirely separate continuity from normal agave stuff, so.  keep that in mind!
The knock on Agatha’s door comes soft, timid.  Whoever’s on the other side clearly doesn’t want to be heard, so she assumes it’s one of those new trainees from the sanctum next door, sent here by their Sorcerer Supreme themselves.  They’re always so scared of the ancient witch, equally scared of their ancient master, as though just because they’re centuries old they aren’t also normal people.  She blames Cian for this.  They can pull off that ancient master of wisdom joke much better than she can.  She can pull off intimidating maniacal witch, but that’s not the same thing.
Of course, acting under this assumption, Agatha opens her apartment door, toweling at her ear (hot showers, they’re necessary after a long stint on a farm in the middle of nowhere with no hot water that isn’t boiled over an open flame), with a, “Yeah, yeah, tell your Ancient One that I’m in the middle of something, hon, and remind them that if they really need me, they can come over here them…self—”
She stutters to a stop when she sees the pregnant woman standing just outside her door.
She blinks.
The woman is reasonably attractive, all things considered.  Her dark hair’s pulled up in an untidy bun away from her neck (one of Agatha’s weaknesses, if she’s honest with herself, which she rarely is except in these cases), and sweat beads her forehead, dampens her hair.  As Agatha takes her in, a single drop trickles along the length of her neck. She swallows once, hard.  (That is so unfair.)  Other than that, the woman seems homely enough.  Her stomach protrudes enough that either she’s carrying twins or she’s so far along that she should be ready to pop any minute now.  (Hopefully, that’s not why she’s here.)
“Look, dear,” Agatha says before the other woman can say anything, “I think you’ve got the wrong—”
The woman shakes her head.  “No, I’ve got the….  This is the right apartment.”  She averts her gaze, refuses to even look at Agatha as she says, “This is where the incredible smell is coming from.”
Agatha sniffs the air.  She’s not sure she would call the stew incredible by any means.  It’s just something she’d thrown together from the stores she’d left hanging around the apartment the last time her wanderlust (and a pretty witch who didn’t know what she was dealing with) had called her away.  Lentils, mostly, with some canned vegetables thrown in for extra flavor.  It’s the spices that the woman smells more than anything, a unique blend of Agatha’s own that she has never much been inclined to share.  That said, the stew has to smell better than the normal stench that pervades the complex.  She’s never thought about it before.
She doesn’t admit or deny that it’s her cooking the strange woman is smelling, instead just peers at her curiously, waiting for why that matters at all, why it had been so necessary for her to knock on her door.
The woman wets her lips with the barest tip of her tongue then looks up, meets Agatha’s eyes, and asks, “Can I….”  She swallows once, forces it down, and then tries again, “May I have some?”  A hesitation, then added on at the end, “Please?”
It’s her eyes that do it for her.  Agatha’s used to seeing different shades, different colors, with different intensities and softnesses to them.  She’s not going to say she’s never seen eyes like this before because, honestly, in the three hundred years she’s been around, she’s probably seen something similar enough to say that she has.  But there’s such a shy earnestness shining through those eyes that she succumbs without a second thought.
“I was gonna say no, hon,” Agatha says, quelling under this strange woman’s gaze, “but then you said please, and no one says please anymore, so I suppose I will take pity on you and reward you for good behavior.”  She cinches her other towel tighter around her chest and then steps back, holding the door open.  “C’mon in. It won’t be done for a few more minutes, but why don’t you wait inside with me?”
The woman quells when Agatha mentions no, then relaxes slowly as she continues.  “Mama always told me please and thank you would take me far one day,” she says, “but I don’t think she meant this.”  Her lips curve into one of the most endearing smiles Agatha has seen in….  Well, in a really long time, as she steps past Agatha into the apartment, eyes flicking to the towel wrapped around her chest only once.
As Agatha closes the door behind her, the woman says, voice soft and face full of sunshine, “I don’t suppose we’ve ever met.  I’m Eve.”  She holds one hand out just past her belly while the other hand rests just atop it.
Agatha reaches out and takes her hand in her own, finds it unsurprisingly warm, given the lack of central air in the building.  “Agatha.  Agatha Harkness.”  She gently lifts Eve’s hand to her lips and kisses her knuckles.  “Charmed, I’m sure.”
Eve looks away, but she can’t hide the blood rushing to her cheeks or the nice flush it leaves behind.  Agatha finds it’s quite as delightful as the rest of her is.
~
“So I haven’t seen you around before,” Eve starts just as Agatha walks back in from her bedroom wearing something more than a bath towel.  Her eyes appraise her, take in the mottled grey tank that might be a little too thin but is incredibly comfortable, the olive green jeans that adhere to her skin. Then she wets her lips again.  “Are you…are you new here?”
Agatha waves a hand dismissively.  “Oh, no, dear.  I’ve been here longer than the building.  Bit of a package deal, really.”  She pauses, remembers her own pregnancy from all those years ago, and then asks offhand, “How are the hormones?  When I had my boys, it was all I could do to keep from jumping on every attractive person I saw.”  She chuckles lightly.  “Or unattractive.”
Eve flushes again.  It seems like she’s about to say something about how inappropriate that topic is, but then she admits, “They’re horrible. My back hurts, I feel like I have a bowling ball stuck in my stomach, and I don’t have the energy for sex, but I want it all the time.”  She groans. “Between that and asking a random stranger for what she’s cooking, I feel like I’m in someone’s porn video.”  She stops, face whitening and eyes dropping.  “I…I don’t mean…sorry.”
“For what, hon?” Agatha speaks a little louder as she moves into the kitchen. “I asked.  What’s the point in talking if we can’t be open with each other, hm?”  She takes the lid off her stew, dips a spoon in, and lifts it for a taste.  It’s close enough to being done that she could send Eve away with a Tupperware bowl of her own, but she doesn’t want to do that.  It’s been so long since she’s had a normal person into her apartment – normal, as if having no magical or sorcerous inclinations is normal for her world – that she’s intrigued with how things will go. “Would you like a drink?”
“Oh, I don’t plan on staying,” Eve calls from where she sits in the living room. “I can just take it on back to my apartment if—”
Agatha interrupts as soon as she notices where the conversation is heading. “Where’s the rush, dear?”  She pops her head out of the kitchen.  “If I’m not mistaken, you’re home alone while your hubby—”  A quick glance, a quick scan for a wedding ring reveals nothing, but that doesn’t surprise her either.  “—or not hubby is out doing his best in the world. Or you’re home alone and actually alone, in which case, doll, stay here with sweet Agatha, and she’ll take wonderful care of you.”
Again, Eve flushes, biting her lower lip.  “I’m really just here for the soup,” she stammers out, rubbing one arm awkwardly.  “Ted’ll be home in a bit, and he’ll wonder where I’m at.”  Her gaze flicks up briefly, then down, then slowly runs along Agatha again before meeting her eyes.  She tugs on her lower lip again.  “Water, please.  I…I can stay for a little bit.”
Agatha brings the water out along with a glass of red wine for herself – just because Eve shouldn’t drink doesn’t mean she can’t, and it’s not like she’ll get drunk on wine – and hands the water over to her before perching on the arm of the couch.  “So who’s Ted?”
“My husband,” Eve says.  She takes a long drought of her water, nods to herself, and then moves to hold it in her lap before deciding against that and reaching to place it on the coffee table instead.  “He’s at work.  He doesn’t like it much, but it pays well.”
Agatha starts to help her, then decides halfway against it, and instead gestures to the table next to the couch.  “This one might be easier, babe.”
Eve glances over.  “Oh. Thank you.”  She sets the glass on the side table.  “What do you do?” she asks.  “For work, I mean.”
“Nothing,” Agatha admits, because it’s the truth.  She notes as Eve’s eyes linger on her barren ring finger, and she gives a nod of understanding.  “I’m not with anyone, either, hon.”
“I…I didn’t ask.”  Eve looks away and rubs a finger just under her eye.  “You don’t do anything?  At all?”
Agatha shrugs.  “I move around a lot.”  Without thinking, she begins to run her finger along the lip of her glass.  She hums with the soft sound.
As she does, Eve relaxes into the couch, leans her head back, and exposes the soft skin of her neck, her eyes closing in contentment.  “You have a nice voice,” she murmurs, barely audible over the feigned sound of a window unit kicking in.  Of course, Agatha doesn’t need an air conditioner when she can mutter a not-so-simple spell to take care of things, and she gently guides the breeze towards Eve with an unseen gesture of her fingers.  The cool air wicks the sweat from Eve’s brow; she shivers.  “It’s cold in here.”
Agatha doesn’t say anything, only continues to run a finger along the lip of her wine glass.  One corner of her lip curves ever upward as Eve presses a hand against the back of her neck, shifts to and fro as though trying to get the bones to pop.  She considers, decides otherwise, and then stops her humming, takes a sip of her wine, and then shifts from her perch.  “C’mon, dear.”
“Hm?”  Eve opens her eyes and glances over, content.
But Agatha doesn’t elaborate, only gestures with one hand.  “Follow me.”
~
In the kitchen, Agatha dips her spoon into the stew once more.  She holds it steady over one hand, blows on it, and then takes a bite.  Good enough, in her opinion.  Not the best she’s ever made, but enough to tide her over until she takes the time to go shopping.  She glances up as Eve waddles into view, and her lips curve in an achingly fond smile. “Here,” she says, dipping the spoon into the stew and holding it aloft over her hand once more.  She blows the steam from the top and then holds it out to Eve.  “Taste.”
Eve stares at her.  “I’m not sure that’s.”  She cuts herself off.  “Um.”
“Taste.”
Gingerly, Eve crosses the distance between them and leans forward, opening her mouth so that Agatha can slot the spoon between her lips.  She holds it there, pretends that she can’t feel the vibrations of Eve’s tongue licking the other end until she has gotten every drop, and listens as Eve closes her eyes and gives her own hum of contentment. When Agatha takes the spoon back, Eve open her eyes and sighs.  “Thank you. That’s…that’s really good.”
“Hold on, hon,” Agatha starts the lie as she steps forward, “you’ve got something right—”  She reaches forward and brushes her thumb along the corner of Eve’s lips.  “There.  Got it.”
On instinct, Eve licks the drops she assumes are there from Agatha’s thumb. She looks up at Agatha not quite seeing and smiles, blinded with contentment, up at her.  “More.”
Agatha skims her thumb along Eve’s cheek, under her chin, and gently guides her up to—
A knock comes at the door, and Eve jumps back as much as she can – which, admittedly, is not much.  Her eyes widen, and she takes a deep breath.  “Sorry, sorry, I’m so sorry, I shouldn’t have—”
“Don’t worry about it, hon,” Agatha breathes out.  She pulls a Tupperware container from one of the nearby cabinets and sets it on the counter.  “Take as much as you want.  I’ll take care of this.”  She leaves Eve in the kitchen and strides to her apartment door, rips it open.  “What do you—”
One of the trainees from the sanctum next door looks up at her, eyes wide and watery.  They rub the tip of their nose with one finger and say in a nasally voice, “The Ancient One requests your presence, Agatha Harkness.”
Agatha glares at them.  “I’m a little busy, kid.  Tell them I’ll be over when I’m good and—”
“They said now, Ms. Harkness.”
“Agatha,” she corrects, “and if they want me so badly, they can come get me themselves.  I’m in the middle of—”
“Oh, do you need to be going?”  Eve meets them at the door, the Tupperware container full to the brim of Agatha’s stew.  “I didn’t mean to intrude.  I’ll just be right out.”
“Hon, you don’t have to—  He was just—”
“Oh, no, it’s fine.”  Eve gives her a little smile.  “Ted was going to be back any minute now anyway.  Maybe I’ll talk to you tomorrow?  I’ll have to return this.”  She holds up the Tupperware container as she pushes past Agatha – very carefully, keeping one hand on her stomach the entire time – and out into the hallway.  “Thank you,” she says again, “for the soup.”
Agatha sighs as Eve continues down the hall and then glares back at the trainee. “Tell them they can wait until the soup’s off the stove, kid.”
“I am to stay with you until—”
“Fucking Cian.”  Agatha grits her teeth together, glances over the trainee’s shoulder so that she can see which apartment Eve heads into, groans when Eve goes up the front stairwell, and then steps back into her apartment with a gesture.  “Fine. Fine.  Come in.”
“The Ancient One doesn’t have all—”
“I will get there when I get there, you Neanderthal.”

I have this delicious agave bun before bed the other night. It was purchased from my local farmers market 🧡. I paired it with a warm vanilla soy milk.

Vegan pork and apple gua bao with pickled carrots
"Gua bao" (literally, "cut bread") consist of a savory filling--usually pork belly with condiments and toppings--in a fluffy, steamed "lotus leaf bun." Other types of bao include baozi, which are sealed shut around their filling (this type of bao is usually meant when the term "bao" is used without any qualifiers). The term "bao bun" is actually an example of the kind of tautology common in bilingual borrowing, since "bao" already means "bun"!
In my take on this dish, a classic pork-and-apple filling is transformed by the addition of miso paste and a hit of fruity, floral Sichuan peppercorn. The sweetness and acidity of pickled carrots stand out wonderfully against the background of the savory, umami filling. For the filling base you may use any type of vegan pork substitute, or TVP.
Recipe under the cut!
Patreon | Tip jar
Makes 12 bao.
EQUIPMENT:
A large skillet
A grater or food processor
A bamboo or metal steamer, or a wok / large, deep pan / large pot, with a closely fitting lid
Parchment paper
INGREDIENTS:
For the bao:
1 1/2 cup (300g) all-purpose flour
1 Tbsp (9g) cornstarch
1 tsp (4g) active dry yeast
1 tsp (6g) sugar
1 Tbsp neutral oil
About 2/3 cup (140 ml) lukewarm water
For the filling:
380g (13oz) vegan sausage, or 200g TVP hydrated with 140mL vegetarian pork or beef broth from concentrate
1/2 medium tart apple, washed and cored
1 small yellow onion
1 stalk celery (optional)
2 tsp white miso paste
1 tsp soy sauce
1 1/2 tsp vegetarian oyster sauce
1 tsp honey or agave (optional)
1/2 tsp Sichuan peppercorns, toasted and ground
1/4 tsp fennel seeds, toasted and ground
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 Tbsp neutral oil
4 cloves garlic, sliced
1-inch chunk (10g) ginger, washed (no need to peel)
1 tsp rice vinegar
For the pickled carrots:
3 medium carrots (180g)
1/4 cup white vinegar
1/4 cup rice vinegar
2 Tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp salt
To steam and assemble:
1 Tbsp neutral oil
Romaine lettuce, chopped peanuts, or other desired toppings
INSTRUCTIONS:
For the pickled carrots:
1. Julienne three carrots and stuff them down into a medium-sized jar.
2. Combine white and rice vinegar with salt and sugar in a small pot and heat, whisking occasionally, until vinegar is simmering and sugar is dissolved.
3. Pour vinegar into the jar over the carrots. Allow to cool completely to room temperature (glass risks breaking if subjected to rapid changes in temperature) and refrigerate for several hours, or overnight.
For the bao:
Bao should be light, fluffy, and chewy. The dough for the bao is kneaded, proofed, kneaded again, shaped, and proofed a second time before the bao are steamed.
1. Whisk flour, cornstarch, yeast, and sugar together in a large bowl. Add oil and mix to combine.
2. Add water a little at a time until the dough holds together in a smooth, non-sticky ball. You may need more or less than 2/3 cup.
3. Vigorously knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about ten minutes until very smooth, or use a stand mixer with a dough hook attachment on medium speed for five to seven minutes. An insufficiently kneaded dough may lead to a pockmarked texture later on!
4. Transfer the dough to a lightly greased bowl and cover with a kitchen towel that's been dampened with warm water. Allow to rise for 40-90 minutes, until just doubled in size. Avoid overproofing the dough.
For the filling:
1. While the dough proofs, prepare your filling. Mix miso paste, soy sauce, oyster sauce, and agave in a large bowl. Grate the onion, garlic, ginger, sausage, apple, and celery, or pulse in a food processor, occasionally scraping down the sides with a rubber spatula, until a coarse crumb texture forms.
2. Heat 1 Tbsp of a neutral oil in a large pan on medium high. Add ground Sichaun peppercorns and fennel and allow to bloom for 30 seconds until fragrant.
3. Add sausage mixture and cook until browned, flipping once. Once cooked, remove the filling to the bowl with your sauce mixture.
4. Deglaze the pan with 1 tsp or so rice or white vinegar, and add any bits that had burnt and stuck to the bottom into the bowl with the rest of your filling. Mix to combine.
To steam the bao:
1. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for another five minutes, until dough returns to its original size and appears very smooth in texture.
2. Roll dough out into a large cylinder and, using a bench scraper or a sharp knife, separate it into twelve even pieces. If you have a kitchen scale, you can use it to ensure that your pieces are all the same size--mine ended up weighing about 40g each.
Tumblr media
3. Roll each piece of dough out into an oval of about 4" x 7" (10 x 18cm), covering the pieces you're not working with to prevent them from drying out. The dough should be moderately thin (4-5mm) without being translucent.
4. Lightly brush the top of the dough oval with a neutral oil and fold the dough over lengthwise to form a semi-circular shape. Place each shaped bun in a parchment-paper-lined bamboo steamer, or on a similarly prepared plate. (If you don't have a steamer, choose a plate or plates that will fit inside a wok or large pot--see steaming instructions.)
Tumblr media
5. Allow the shaped buns to rise for another 20 minutes until slightly puffy. They will rise further while steaming.
6. Steam the bao. Place your bamboo steamer in the bottom of a wok or large pot, and fill the wok with enough cool water to cover the bottom rim of the steamer by 1/2". If you're using a metal steamer, tie a kitchen towel around its lid to prevent condensation from dipping back down onto the bao, which would jeopardize their rise and texture. If you don't have a steamer, place a small bowl in the bottom of a wok or large, deep pan or pot. Place the plate containing your bao on top of the bowl--the plate should fit inside your pot. Make sure that you can cover the plate and bao with a lid and leave some room to rise without the bao making contact with the lid. If your lid is domed, there is no need for a kitchen towel, since the condensation will run down towards the outer rim. If your lid is flat, tie a tea towel around it just as you would with a metal steamer. Fill your cooking vessel with 2 or so centimeters of cool water.
Tumblr media
7. Raise the heat to high and allow the water to come to a boil. Once boiling, lower the heat to medium-low and cover your steamer or pot. Allow bao to steam for eight minutes and remove from the steamer (there is no need to wait five minutes to avoid collapsing, as some recipes suggest!).
To assemble:
1. Reheat filling in a large skillet. Serve lotus leaf buns alongside filling, lettuce, carrots, chopped peanuts, and other toppings and fill as desired.

Donut Box for the Suspects
"I'll have one jelly donut with powdered sugar on the side; three chocolate frosted; one frosted chocolate; two chocolate-frosted chocolate; one Dog-Nut; medium well; one coffee with milk and sugar, hold the coffee."
You knew someone would do it, and that someone is always me.
See below for donut recipes and guidelines.
See more SU food tutorials!
I wasn't gonna do this because I've made donuts for this show before, but what can I say, I got inspired!
Remember at the beginning of "Sadie Killer," Steven came into the Big Donut and bought a big order for the Cool Kids?
Tumblr media
To be clear, this was his order:
"I'll have one jelly donut with powdered sugar on the side; three chocolate frosted; one frosted chocolate; two chocolate-frosted chocolate; one Dog-Nut; medium well; one coffee with milk and sugar, hold the coffee."
Dang Steven
This turns out to be rather a lot of work for me! There are three different donut types in there with three different topping styles!
This tutorial will be broken into five parts:
Jelly Donuts
Chocolate-Frosted Donuts
Chocolate Donuts
Chocolate Glaze
Assembly
Jelly Donuts
Ingredients:
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour (divided into 1/2 cup plus 3/4 cup)
1/8 cup granulated sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt
Half a packet of rapid rise yeast (about 3.5 grams)
1/3 cup warm milk (about 110° F/ 43° C)
2 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided into half tablespoons
1 egg yolk
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
Some jelly or jam
Some granulated sugar for dusting
Tumblr media
Directions:
Whisk together the 1/2 cup flour, sugar, yeast, and salt in a large bowl.
Tumblr media
Add the warm milk. Melt 1.5 tablespoons of the butter (leaving the other half tablespoon for way later). Add the melted butter in with the egg and vanilla, and combine it well with your whisk. Cover with plastic wrap and let it sit at room temperature for about 10 minutes. It should get some little bubbles in it by the end of the wait.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Add in the remaining 3/4 cup of flour and knead for 5 minutes. It shouldn't be sticky but if it is, add a small amount of flour. When you're done, let it rise for 1 1/2 hours covered in plastic wrap, or until doubled in size. You can accelerate this by putting it uncovered on a baking sheet in the oven at 100° F/38° C for 45 minutes instead.
Now roll the dough out on a floured surface to around 1/2” thick. Cut 2 1/2-inch rounds with a biscuit cutter. Re-roll the scraps. This makes 6 to 9 donuts.
Tumblr media
Let these guys rise one more time on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper under a kitchen towel: either room temperature for 45 minutes or in the 100° F/38° C oven for 20 minutes.
Bake them in the center rack of a preheated oven at 375° F/190° C for 10 minutes (until the tops turn golden).
Melt your remaining butter and use a pastry brush to butter each bun when they come out of the oven.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then dip their tops in sugar.
Tumblr media
Cut a deep slit in each donut and pipe the jam in with a pastry bag.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They are done!
Tumblr media
In the donut box, the pictured jelly donut has a nice tan glaze. You can melt caramel or use melted butterscotch, but I just reused some chocolate buttercream frosting I already had for the photo.
Chocolate Glazed Donuts
Ingredients:
1 cup flour
3/8 cup sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 smidgen ground nutmeg
1 smidgen salt
3/8 cup buttermilk
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/4 tablespoons vegetable oil
Tumblr media
Directions:
This is a tiny batch of 6 donuts and we're using a baking pan. This will bake at the same time, in the same pan, as the chocolate donuts up next.
Preheat the oven to 325° F/160° C). Spray a donut pan with nonstick cooking spray or oil.
In a large bowl, mix the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, baking powder, nutmeg, and salt.
Tumblr media
In another bowl, stir together the egg, buttermilk, vanilla, and oil. Whisk until combined, then pour the wet batter into the dry batter. Whisk together.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Put the dough in a piping bag and fill each donut hole about 3/4 full.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Since we are baking chocolate donuts at the same time, I'll pause this recipe here, but if you're only making these and not chocolate donuts, bake them for about 8 minutes and let them cool in the pan a while before turning them onto a cooling rack and frosting.
Chocolate Donuts
Ingredients:
1 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1/2 cup brown sugar packed
1/2 cup buttermilk, room temperature
1/2 cup plain prepared coffee
1 egg, room temperature
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup butter, melted
Tumblr media
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 325° F/160° C if it's not already preheated from the previous recipe.
In a large bowl, mix the dry ingredients: flour, baking soda, salt, unsweetened cocoa powder, and brown sugar.
Tumblr media
In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, coffee, egg, and vanilla.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pour the wet ingredients into dry ingredients. Stir, not too comprehensively--just enough to mix. Then stir in the melted butter--again, do not overblend.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I tried to use a pastry bag again to fill the other 6 donut holes, but this batter is WAY runnier. I recommend a funnel with small amounts premeasured or a turkey baster to fill the holes. Very sloppy but rich!
Tumblr media
Bake the donuts for about 8 minutes.
Tumblr media
Let them cool in the pan and then turn them onto a cooling rack.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You are ready to glaze them!
Chocolate Glaze
Ingredients:
1/4 cup chocolate
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
1 teaspoon honey or agave
1 teaspoon water
Tumblr media
Directions:
Put all the ingredients in a medium bowl and melt in the microwave. I only needed two 20-second bursts to melt it down.
Tumblr media
Stir, and dip donuts!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
One donut in the cartoon's box looks like it's vanilla frosted. You can make white frosting if you prefer by melting a couple tablespoons of butter, adding about half a cup of sifted powdered sugar, and splashing in a few tablespoons of milk or cream (or water) and a little vanilla extract. But I just used some leftover buttercream frosting I had in the house since it was just one donut. (I put some cocoa frosting on a couple extra donuts too.)
Assembly
Time to put everything in the box for the Cool Kids! (Who, unbeknownst to them, were about to become THE SUSPECTS in Sadie's new band!)
First, I had to microwave a hot dog (well, veggie dog!) because SOMEONE ordered a dang Dog-Nut.
Tumblr media
This Dog-Nut, if you notice, is different than it looks in the ad for this product. I have made Dog-Nut before and it usually has more variety in the donuts, sprinkles, and a stripe of frosting mustard. This version from the pictured order is just three chocolate frosted donuts connected with a hot dog. Oh well.
Tumblr media
Then I added in the other boxed donuts: a jelly, three chocolate frosted, one chocolate frosted, and two chocolate frosted chocolate.
Tumblr media
I also notice that someone ordered coffee with cream and sugar (which is just sugary milk??).
Tumblr media
Sadie was perplexed. So am I.
I just took the order as dictated and added the powdered sugar on the side too.
Tumblr media
That's it! Donut box for the Suspects!
Tumblr media
Sugar milk is pretty tasty by the way. Great for eating with these rich chocolate donuts!!
