The Court of Appeal in Abuja on its part on May 25 in a judgment by Justice Jamil Tukur who led a 3-man panel had refused to stop the May 29 inauguration of Tinubu. 2019 AGF Theme ～ Ikemen Japonesque ～ Pt. 2

In a city where West and East meet... people of different cultures are separated into four districts, all in conflict with each other.

Within these tumultuous days, the love he holds for you, along with these beliefs held in his heart, they burn all the fiercer, all the brighter! 

In true IkeVamp fashion, we’ll be introducing to you the five men from the Moon District!

Besides being conveniently split into 4 groups for their 4 most prominent games, Cybird has chosen quite a beautiful theme for this year’s AGF! We’ll be discussing the meaning of 鏡花水月 as a metaphor and it how it reflects on the outfit designs presented in the main visual. 

鏡花水月 is a Japanese idiom that literally translates to “mirror flower water moon” and references a subtle and poignant beauty that is both profound and elusive, similar to viewing a flower through a mirror, or the moon upon water’s still surface. Another interpretation can be a beautiful dream or a mirage, usually invoked in describing poetry. 

There is also a Chinese equivalent called  镜中花，水中月, and carries the exact same meaning, though more literally phrased into a sentence instead of a four character compound. 

Thus, the four games each respectively represent an aspect of this phrase, with IkeSen being “mirror,” IkeRev being “flower,” IkeLive being “water,” and IkeVamp being “moon.” It would be interesting to examine why each game was chosen to represent each aspect, but the most prominent feature we’d like to point out is that the promotional outfits that each suitor wears carries motifs of their respective theme, with IkeVamp suitors having moon symbols on their clothing. 

It’s also interesting to see that everyone is dressed in Taisho-era clothing, a period of Japanese history following the Meiji restoration wherein Western elements were being imported into Japan, which is why a common element of Taisho-era clothing (the easiest example being IkeVamp Dazai’s main character design) is collared shirts and boots. It corresponds beautifully with the themes of “West meets East” and “Japonesque” and ties together everything in a compact visual metaphor that prompts you to spend even more!

In his motion on notice marked CA/CV/259/2023 Owuru applied for “An order of prohibitory injunction compelling Buhari, AGF and INEC, their servants, agents and privies to preserve and give due cognizance and abstain from any further undertaking or engaging in any act of usurpation of adjudged acquired Constitutional rights and mandate as the winner of the 2019 presidential election.” He also applied for another order placing on notice that any form of inauguration, organised by Buhari on May 29, 2023 remains and is viewed as an “interim placeholder” administration arranged pending the hearing and determination of his substantive appeal on the constitutional interpretation thereof. The motion is supported with an eight-paragraph affidavit praying the Court of Appeal for an expeditious hearing before the inauguration of Tinubu. The affidavit deposed to by an Abuja-based legal practitioner, Adebayo Anafowode, and filed at the Court of Appeal in Abuja, expressed apprehension that Owuru’s suit against Buhari would be rendered nugatory unless given a quick hearing.
