It has become far too normalized to reblog content aggregators who screenshot other people's posts without linking to the original
but I'm sure as Hell not about to venture back onto Twitter to try to find the source myself.

least favorite kind of youtube experience is when you're watching something like "unsolved reddit mysteries" and most of them are interesting searches for lost media or attempts to figure out strange internet phenomena, and then somewhere mixed in with all of that is a post from someone who's clearly just experiencing paranoid delusions and it gets presented as a Mysterious and Spooky Secret
#like it's worse BECAUSE i really like the stuff that is about internet mysteries or lost media#i find those really cool and interesting#but i hate getting smacked right in the face with someone posting during the midst of an episode and the narrator treating it like that#bro please do not highlight this person's unfortunate mental health moment in your video and immortalize it for all of youtube to gawk at#yeah i get it delusions are sooooo unsettling blah blah blah#they're 100x worse for the person experiencing them#and i would Not want one of my breakdowns or episodes getting ATTENTION DRAWN TO IT by a fucking REDDIT CONTENT AGGREGATOR RUBBERNECKING#anyways#back to ur regularly scheduled program

I follow 500+ blogs. ill follow an entire squad of mutuals. if someone keeps putting posts I'm not a fan of on my dash (as serious as going against my morals, as little as starts posting about x fandom when I want to see y fandom content rn) I just unfollow them.
I follow a lot of "posts char daily" blogs and "art from your fandom" blogs.
you can also follow tags, but it doesn't show you every post from that tag I've noticed. I use this to find blogs I want to follow; someone keeps appearing in the hs tag? I like their takes, their art? follow!
Common mistake of new tumblr users is that they start off by only following art accounts that only post like monthly, and then they're confused by why their dash is so dead. Girlie you need to get yourself some Post Hunter Gatherers too to get a more varied experience
#offering tips and tricks for new blogs#literally just follow anyone who might be mildly interesting and unfollow people uou dont enjoy seeing posts from.#youll make your own ring of mutuals eventually#also dont forget to reblog posts too! youll become your own content aggregator for other blogs & form mutuals

the south park mental breakdown became an inevitability after susan "scat porn" wojak rolled out youtube kids in 2015. a lot of content on this site was bad but censorship made the sites hosting the content the victims of a mass censorship campaign that has only made the internet more unsafe.
#censorship made the sites hosting the content aggregate [more] of the content to itself#i talk#again this is a super complicated issue but youtube kids was the nail in my coffin#and like. why blame these sites for hosting the content.#but censorship has done nothing but actively harm the internet as a revenue generating machine.

Toward a Season of Shared Humanity: A Meditation on Connection, Understanding, and Transcendence
As a Buddhist—and more specifically, a Buddhist priest living the lay life in a Western cultural context—I am often asked, particularly during Christian holidays, whether I participate in their celebration. Photo by Pixabay on Pexels.com Though innocent and well-meaning, the question reveals an underlying assumption: cultural participation must align with religious observance. My response,…

good/accurate coverage? maybe not. i haven’t actually read most of their coverage of this specifically, but many of these have... not inspired confidence in their ability to report well on palestine, to put it lightly, so i’m not arguing you should like or trust what any of these news sources have to say about the case.
but “collectively ignored” is easily disprovable objective bullshit. you can look in the notes for links to these sources’ coverage of the case. this kind of statement is constantly spread on here on like every issue, and it’s really frustrating, because in my opinion that then takes attention away from actual criticism of the CONTENT of the mainstream news coverage that does in fact exist.
i used op’s profile picture in the meme cause i thought it was funny but lots of people do this sort of shit, and it’s bad every time

#undescribed#unfunny meme aggregate accounts pivoting their content to relate to the current issue of interest#but their content is still really bad memes and misinformation#so now they’re muddying the water and taking attention away from people actually saying important things about a VERY SERIOUS ISSUE#it’s infuriating.

Disclaimer: I like Anita Sarkeesian.
But also, I just saw a writeup of a Youtuber whose content has come a long way from his Gamergate days, and to explain that, the wiki says, "Anita Sarkeesian is a radical feminist who created a webseries about sexist tropes in video games"
AHAHAHAHAHA ANITA SARKEESIAN, RADICAL FEMINIST
HOO HEE EXCUSE ME THAT'S A GOOD ONE
Radical feminist. Feminist extremist. Anita Sarkeesian.
Anita Sarkeesian did her Master's Thesis in Social and Political Thought in 2010 on the trope of the "Strong Woman" in fantasy and science fiction TV shows, and produced Tropes vs Women, a series of online videos breaking down her work in a way that was accessible to a lay audience. She found a ready audience in geek feminist circles, since this was exactly the kind of thing we wanted and needed right then.
Tropes vs Women was extremely bog-standard cultural critique, what you'd find expressed in discussion between scholars of literary theory or media analysis anywhere, and exactly what 99% of feminists were saying at the time. It certainly talked about patriarchy as the complex system of sexism fused into our cultural matrix, so it's not like it wasn't radical feminism from that viewpoint, but it wasn't "radical" by way of being especially militant. Sarkeesian frequently pointed out how individual occurrences of a trope weren't harmful in themselves, but that a media landscape completely saturated with only that trope and nothing but that trope is, in the aggregate, a big feminist issue.
And the internet
HAAAAAAAATED
her for it.
Like, geek feminists got flak a lot anyway, especially when we wanted things like properly enforced policies against sexual harassment at science fiction conventions. And yeah, there totally were toxic keyboard warriors who said stuff about all men being scum - but Sarkeesian wasn't one of them.
It's probably because of her succinct, matter-of-fact, "this is not a debated issue, feminists have decades of theory and research to back this point up, sources abound if you google for thirty seconds so I won't stop to baby you through all the fundamental concepts" approach that she got such a big reach. She was calm, concise, coherent, and rational, everything feminists are told we need to be.
Unfortunately that just made her seem... attackable, I think. A good target, not actually scary or impassioned, unlikely to respond to violence with violence. The perfect kind of person to play five seconds of, and then spend the next five minutes yelling into your mic because IF ANITA IS RIGHT ABOUT VIDEO GAME SEXIST YOU MIGHT AS WELL SAY THAT EVERYTHING IS SEXIST AND SEXISM IS SYSTEMIC AND ENDEMIC TO ALL OF WESTERN CULTURE AND OTHER CULTURES TOO, WHICH IS CLEARLY RIDICULOUS, ANITA LADY BAD.
She literally spent five solid years as Enemy #1 in online geek spaces. It was completely insane. I am so sorry she had to take the brunt of it, and yet grateful that she did. She held the line and took the shit and kept doing good decent feminist work for years after, though she did admit to burnout and closed up shop on her nonprofit org Feminist Frequency in 2023. I hope to hell she's having a good day.
But even now, more than a decade later, dudes talk about her as though she were Geek Feminist Godzilla, the biggest baddest woman in the universe, off to lay waste to downtown Video Games and cut everybody's balls off.
When people (mostly dudes, but not all) talk like this, it's just very funny and unintentionally revealing because of the absolute averageness of her third-wave, trans-inclusive, western-centric, intersectional feminism. It makes them look absolutely pathetic.
Because it just makes it clear that she is probably the first and last self-described feminist the speaker has ever paid attention to.

Interesting Update on Firefox
So Firefox has introduced Terms of Use.
Of note:
This was pointed out updated in the Privacy Policy:
We use technical data, language preference, and location to serve content and advertising on the Firefox New Tab page in the correct format (i.e. for mobile vs desktop), language, and relevant location. Mozilla collects technical and interaction data, such as the position, size, views and clicks on New Tab content or ads, to understand how people are interacting with our content and to personalize future content, including sponsored content. This data may be shared with our advertising partners on a de-identified or aggregated basis.

Additionally, you can have a look at their Github changes here, which shows something else interesting:
Mozilla has deleted the lines "Does Firefox sell your personal data? Nope. Never have, never will. And we protect you from many of the advertisers who do. Firefox products are designed to protect your privacy. That’s a promise.
Another commit shows another removal of a line that notes that Firefox doesn't sell personal data
bedrock/firefox/templates/firefox/faq.html Old: Yep! The { -brand-name-firefox-browser } is free. Super free, actually. No hidden costs or anything. You don’t pay anything to use it, and we don’t sell your personal data. New: Yep! The { -brand-name-firefox-browser } is free. Super free, actually. No hidden costs or anything. You don’t pay anything to use it.
Scrolling further down, you can see a response to a comment questioning it
