Hi Mark, as always thanks for doing what you do. I’m not sure if this has been addressed elsewhere but can the ghosts of Ravnica travel through the omenpaths? I’d love a showcase set where Agrus Kos inspires a group of recruits (or quells a mob) on some other plane. He’d make a good Roman, or would do equally well employing his no nonsense attitude in a space war!
We haven't tackled the metaphysics yet of spirit interplanetary travel.

Sometimes fan art is just for you.
I want to make a comic for Jarad the way did for Garruk, my two favourite MtG characters that just get constantly misused, and in Jarads case just killed off.
Going from a hero of Ravnica who worked with Agrus Kos and Teysa Karlov to fight the machinations of Grand Arbiter Agustin IV, Momir Vig with Experiment Kraj, and Lyzolda and the cult of Rakdos.
A man who went from having a relationship and a child with a woman from another guild, and whose child he loved so deeply that he was able to bring HIMSELF back from the dead to save him.
For that man to be reduced to a xenophobic isolationist, who hated the people of his own guild as much as he hated "outsiders" with no explanation given. You can't read the Ravnica novels on the mothership, so their canon may as well not exist.
Agrus and Teysa get to stay beloved and still appear in sets. Jarad gets turned to a statue while hiding in a secret room.

“But Agrus-”
“I said no, Aurelia.”
A beleaguered Agrus Kos hovered forward to lean on his porch railing. He glared out at his angelic guildmaster and her entourage standing in his front yard. Unmoved by Aurelia’s plea, he remained steadfast in his answer:
“I’m retired.”
“You’re the best damn Wojek in the Legion!”
“I was. And now I’m retired.”
“We need you.”
“…Agrus?”
A third voice reached Aurelia and Agrus’s ears, from inside the house. A second angel stepped into view and onto the porch, and gently wrapped her armored arms around Agrus. Or, at least, she tried to, before her gauntlets phased through the spirit, much to the embarrassment of the new arrival.
“Oh, right. Oops…Ah, anyways, Agrus? What’s going on?”
“Nothing, Feather. Don’t worry about it!” Agrus reassured her.
“It’s not nothing,” Aurelia growled. “There’s been another series of murders. We suspect it may be a plot to assassinate us guildmasters…again.”
Feather stared solemnly at Aurelia for a moment, before again looking to Agrus. “I see. And, what did you say?”
“I told her no.”
A pause.
Feather was silent for a time, then her expression soured. “Why? I could come along, watch your back. It’s been too long since we headed up an investigation together. Szadek must’ve been, what, at least a good few hundred years ago!”
“Feather, no,” Agrus protested weakly, though it was clear his angelic partner was starting to break down his defenses. Aurelia noticed this as well, and smiled magnanimously at them both.
“I know you still have one last case left in you, Kos-”
“Don’t you dare assume I’m doing this for you,” Agrus spat, his voice suddenly cold as ice. “You’re lucky I’m even considering this at all.”
Aurelia recoiled, and hung her head. “Right...”
Undeterred by the sudden tension, Feather gave her partner an eager smile, and flexed her wings in anticipation.
“Just like old times!”
Despite his best efforts, Agrus felt himself sharing in Feather’s enthusiasm. “Something like that,” he smirked.

The canonicity of legendary creatures in Ravnica: Clue Edition makes me curious.
Is it binary, so that something is either 'canon' or 'not canon'? (e.g. "Agrus Kos is canon, Colonel Mustard is not canon, just like Aragorn or the Fifth Doctor is not")
Or can there be shades of gray area, so that something can be 'more (or less) canonical' compared to other things?
Universes Beyond is not canon to Magic: the Gathering, so I appreciate the Ravnica: Clue Edition Legends having that frame, in a set with canon cards.
Canon is an abyss, as they say. Legendary Creatures are usually canon, but that doesn't mean they're always literal or contemporaneous. What I mean by that is sometimes cards aren't chronologically from the same time as the rest of the set (it happens sometimes), and sometimes there isn't a literal manifestation of a god like Sveylun in the same way many other gods have physical manifestations. Most importantly, card art is not a photograph of the MTG multiverse, and it isn't always going to be literal. Does that make sense?

Murders at Karlov Manor crack theory:
Someone is brainwashing people to commit these murders. The mastermind not only has incredible psychic powers, but also a vendetta against all of the guilds. Normally, I would say, oh it’s probably Lazav, but with today’s revelation that the Dimir are all missing and the recent reappearance of Agrus Kos, I am wondering if the mastermind, the Moriarty to Proft’s and Kos’s Holmes, the original, contractual enemy of the Guildpact, Szadek, is back.
time will tell if this is correct!

[INSERT Clickbait Title about a character's shocking return here]
So, on the front page of the WPN website (and also the Retailer First Look post) there's some interesting art. I don't think it's a leak because it is not remotely hidden, but I'll stick a cut here for people who don't want to see a character You Won't Believe Comes Back In Murders of Karlov Manor.
Still here, okay, great, here's the art. (and here's the link to the First Look page that has it on)
Tumblr media
By my reckoning that's Proft, Kaya, Etrata, Kellan, and... uh... Agrus Kos?!
Which, like, is cool enough for people who Know that I'm doing the cut thing but god knows whether this is how the story team wanted his return to be revealed.
Sure is interesting, though.

Ravnica D&D Campaign: The Characters (4)
We now come to another tricky situation. This was the person that was the least convinced about my proposal to play DnD together, mostly because he'd had a few previous experiences but due to circumstances (in one case mechanical happenstance, in another case he played with absolute jerks) he was left disliking the game. However, he decided to give it a shot, and following his ideas we crafted a very nifty and unusual character.
Vomyr Kos--Human Cleric
Tumblr media
If you're thinking "that doesn't look like a Cleric", it's because Vomyr is a cleric of trickery, devoted to the cosmic principle of change and subversion. My friend wanted a robinhood-esque character that balanced an outwardly-selfish persona with an internal care towards the marginalized and his friends. So, Vomyr was raised as an orphan by a Vedalken scam artist named Tolap, a retired Dimir agent and fugitive from the Azorius. They started off in the slums of the 4th precinct and over the course of many years managed to establsh themselves in the upper-middle class areas of the 1st. The duo's targets became increasingly more rich, which means they went after the Orzhov a lot. In one such thievery, they managed to steal a relic: a sacred glove that belonged to a bygone pontiff. Using the glove as a catalyst, Vomyr discovered his latent magical powers and distorted the classic orzhov magic into something more fit for his own persona. Vomyr is the classic scammer that knows really well how social interactions work but is not used to genuine emotion, as such he can come across as very cold and calculating even when he doesn't mean it. Also, his last name is Kos because Tolap, a vedalken without a last name, decided to give him a last name that would inspire confidence and trust from the average Ravnican (thinking of Agrus Kos). Prior to the beginning of the campaign, he and Tolap were planning a big operation: impersonating a Pontiff at their own investiture in order to steal the treasures that Pontiff are given when they are chosen by the Church.
