She didn't start this way - it was through Tokumei's influence that Kato started her murders. It started with a teacher, who she was convinced was targeting her beloved friend. After a mishap that resulted in that teacher's death, Kato's mental state began to deteriorate further with the manipulation of Tokumei.

Infatuation turned into obsession, flames only fueled by the encouragement of her pen pal. She followed her dear childhood friend to his university of choice, a prestigious college in America. Still... she's always looking over her shoulder, worried her crimes will be discovered.

Misc notes from the Maghni AI February Q&A Stream:

Aurum demo is going to be delayed by a few weeks, currently expected for the beginning of March.

Everything else should be on schedule.

Hype content will be posted around the end of February regardless of Aurum's demo being delayed! (Something fun, Oliver related, is coming before the end of this month. Assumedly - not mentioned, this is me saying this - his second English demo, since Austin's announcements match the schedule.)

Languages development has been going well on Natalia's part.

Audine recently finished her English recordings, development for her voicebank starts soon.

Crossy has been drawing a lot - for the upcoming February content and for the official character art, which is a lot of work since they want it to turn out perfect.

GABRIEL and GLASSIA's voice actors have been recording. GLASSIA's voice recordings are experiencing some delays because their voice actress wasn't satisfied with them, but she's a fast recorder according to Natalia.

GLASSIA is Brazilian.

Natalia and Austin are excited about the development of voice colors, and Austin is also excited about the engine themes. Barham is excited about the age and gender parameters (which are different!) though those won't be available on release. Caleb is most excited about phoneme editing but also mentions that some very powerful voices are coming. (I have never used VOCALOID so I didn't understand what Crossy was talking about o(￣┰￣*)ゞ something "V1 pitch bends better than V5")

The vocabulary they use around the program is inspired by a will to "paint the vocals". This is mentioned in response to someone asking if you can draw the pitch bends, to which the answer is yes.

They're putting a big focus on accessibility and beginner-friendliness, as they expect Maghni AI to be a first entry-point to vocal synth for many users due to the many languages it includes.

I'm not sure what exactly this is about, and it's mostly hypotheticals but they're enthusiastic about ideas adjacent to lyp-syncing. And feedings your voicebank little raspberries. For what it's worth

The two test libraries should have the exact same quality as other full libraries, but they will be limited in what they can do. (Like they won't have as many voice colors, their range might not be as great, they're just meant to be for getting a feel of the program.)

Maghni AI is meant to be very third-party friendly.

"Vocal A" is pretty much finished with his recordings.

Even if they create official stories with their characters, Vocatone's characters are up to your personal interpretation. (If Oliver is a silly goofy child to you, that's cool, if Oliver is very serious and broody to you, that's cool too.)

Next stream should be at the end of next month.

Growl parameter is an exciting prospect but probably not anytime soon. That being said, one of the voicebanks they're working on will have a voice color that's pure growl.

They were asked about "if they could have any UTAU for Maghni AI". I've been having a difficult time processing names but I'll do my best... Natalia: Momo Momone, Ruko, Ritsu - there are also voicebanks that aren't as big but are phenomenal, like Aiko Kikyuune - later mention: Yufu Sekka, Sayu Yurika. Barham: isn't familiar with UTAU. Austin: I didn't catch the name, sorry, but if I'm understanding well, two voicebanks he worked on? Caleb: Kakoi Nizimine. Crossy: Celeste? Then one I didn't catch, then Muyuka. Someone in the chat: Adachi Rei (which Natalia thinks would be phenomenal). Natalia keeps mentioning UTAUs so I'm giving up OTL

-Likes to nap in the woods because it's more isolated and has nearly taken the heads off of people that have tried to wake him up on more than one occasion

-His last name is actually nothing special or significant but he's went so long without telling anyone that he enjoys annoying them with the mystery

Damian:

-Big time snorer, he fell asleep during an overnight shift and nearly gave Aiko and Kiriko heart attacks

-Still overthinks how to act around Aiko even though they're dating (Damian: Am I moving too fast? Am I being weird? Do couples do this? Does she hate me? No, she doesn't...does she hate this though?)

Naomi:

-Sings her favourite showtunes to Madoka as lullabies

-Has a halfway-decent fluency in English thanks to years of exposing herself to western media and learning some phrases from Karma

Kyoji:

-Since he wears glasses, he has special prescription lab-goggles but keeps getting them mixed up with the regular goggles and spends the first few minutes of experiment preparation trying to find his

-Struggles asking for help since his 'thing' is his relentless optimism that a lot of people find comfort in. Feels a certain pressure to keep things light for the sake of his friends.

Maverick:

-Has an alphabetised list of ways he wants to enact revenge on Enoshima and has had at-length discussions about how possible they are with other Despairs who only follow her for her power.

-Favourite Disney character is Mother Gothel. Gaslighting duo.

Miru:

-Causes at least 2 fires a month from experiments that she's not allowed anywhere near a lab without at least two fire extinguishers

-Master of card games and constantly challenges other base members to games

Ethos:

-Roots for Godzilla to destroy everything in its path during the movies and is genuinely distraught when Godzilla is fended off.

-His sledgehammer, Jesse, once slipped from the holder on his belt and tumbled down a set of stairs and he sat and cradled it in his arms, panicking about how damaged it might be

Finally got around to drawing Beau’s ma Cookie (yes she’s cooking cat.)

random info:

-Cookie runs a cooking school in Subcon City. She used to be a tv cooking host but the camera was too stressful and took away from her passion of helping people enjoy cooking. She met her wife Aiko during her last show. she was beaten and brusied outside the studio. She took her home and helped her heal up.

-Cookie met Eclipse on total accident while the later was in wolf form. Eclipse had gotten caught running from some mafia men and took shelter behind her school. She had been about to change when the other woman was taking out trash and it was very awkward for both. They wound up forming a partnership where eclipse will occasionally provide fresh game to the school. They later became friends. Eclipse helped cookie and aiko out when beau was first getting ehr flight feathers by introducing them to DJ who really saved them some panic.

-Lady Kei is Aiko’s mother and threw her out for her decision to stay in Subcon City with Cookie. Even tho she acts cold she sends a nyakuza member now and then to check in on her. She has several photos of Beau at her home even though she’s never met her in person.

-If you need info, lady kei is who you go to. her cats have their paws in everything going on the continent. She doesn’t care who you are as long as you can pay. She’s worked as the appraiser for a lot of treasure hunters over the years and normally swindles them pretty good. She was chased up a tree by eclipse for trying to undersell her.

-Connie can’t see from his right eye, he actually has a glass eye in. He lost his eye during his first bar fight with DJ Grooves back when Eclipse was like 3.

-Connie has more scars than DJ and Eclipse. he just doesn’t give a hoot. 

-Oddly the man has zero tattoos minus a tramp stamp his husband put on him while drunk

-Connie brews whiskey, vodka, moonshine, wine and mead in his basement

-Craft is Eclipse’s best friend. they found her sobbing behind the gym and decided they were gonna make her smile. even after eclipse dropped out they constantly messaged her and would swing by to visit. They were the one she went to when she was dating Keith; a dancer at the school. And they were the one who told Connie and DJ when Keith shattered Eclipse’s heart. They own their own formal wear store in the Subcon City Mall. They also do alterations.

-They sewed the stuffed snatcher doll Hattie has. they think it’s the weirdest pecking thing ever.

-They really want to put Eclipse in a dress. They have been trying for years. They know she likes them, but Keith’s words still haunt her.

-Craft is the one who teaches snatcher how to properly text because they were so pecking sick of getting PAGES of letters from the man
