The human brain is the most complex organ in the body, and alcohol is a depressant that affects its function. When a person drinks, alcohol is absorbed into the bloodstream and quickly passes through the blood-brain barrier. It then binds to receptors in the brain that are involved in the transmission of messages between nerve cells. This binding alters the normal functioning of the brain and can result in impaired coordination, judgment, and memory. Over time, heavy drinking can lead to changes in the structure of the brain and can cause problems with memory, learning, and decision-making.

AUBI ist die Abkürzung für das einzige in der DDR gebraute alkoholfreie Autofahrerbier. . Das Bier wurde 1972 vom Braumeister Ulrich Wappler aus der VEB Engelhardt-Brauerei in Berlin-Stralau auf der Leipziger Messe vorgestellt. AUBI wurde nach den TGL 7764 hergestellt. Nach diesen Vorschriften wurde das Bier als alkoholarm bezeichnet und hatte einen Alkoholgehalt von weniger als 0,3 Volumenprozent (in der DDR galt die Null-Promille-Grenze für das Führen von Kraftfahrzeugen). Die Mindesthaltbarkeit betrug danach vom Tage der Abfüllung an 90 Tage. Der Stammwürzegehalt lag zwischen 6,9 und 7,4 % und der Gehalt an Bitterstoffen bei 9 g/hl. AUBI durfte nur als Flaschenware gehandelt werden. Erhältlich war es in Flaschen zu 0,5 l. . Nachdem die Produktion 1990 eingestellt und die Brauerei geschlossen wurde, endete spätestens zu diesem Zeitpunkt die Herstellung des Bieres in der DDR. Das Unternehmen ging 1992 als Engelhardt-Brauerei Vertriebs-AG auf die Brau und Brunnen AG über. Seit dem 30. August 1998 ist AUBI eine geschützte Marke der thüringischen Dingslebener Privatbrauerei Metzler und wird dort als alkoholarmes Bier mit einem Alkoholgehalt von weniger als 0,5 Volumenprozent gebraut. Everyone on the #oneyearnobeer forum has been talking about alcohol-free beer, so I thought I’d give one a go. A lot of alcohol-free alternatives are too sweet and sometimes, you just want a break from water, booch or herbal tea in the evening. This one was pleasantly dry and low-carb.
