2.10 - The Abduction

Sydney is retelling her mission-with-parents related experience to Will and Francie walks in and expresses that they're acting weirdly lately whenever she walks into the room as if she's interrupting something. Sydney has also given Will his S.O.P. since his research was approved by the CIA, but he needs to pass a certain test in order to be proven as trust-worthy or normal or sans risky as an asset to them or something somethin'... Syd also apparently arranged for her mother to be able to get fresh air on the building rooftop twice a week and they meet there. As Irina tells a little about her past, KGB and her regrets, feeling like Sydney has turned out to be far more relevant than any ideology... whatever... Irina lies all the time just like any opportunistic sociopath and even at this point where I know how things are gonna get down, it really feels weird since the acting is seemingly aimed at showcasing a sincere, profound moment for both of them, knowing that it's impossible to form a balanced, static opinion on a character so well-written, wonderfully played and complex and even know for sure if she's being honest or not. I guess she is. Yeah, 'was gonna write that they almost have a daughter/mother moment where they hug but the security on the rooftop starts yelling, pointing weapons, they move away from each other obeying the marshalls' orders. It feels abrupt and great at the same time. It's well directed too. Earlier seasons really invest most of the budget properly, safe to say huh.

Sloane, on the other hand, is pissed - of course - since the first venture of his and Sark went awry and the air strike destroyed the Rambaldi artefact", so he believes. Oh, Sark believes that and as he's being tied and semi-gagged (can't explain, dunno, don't care). Sark makes a point (actually, he doesn't) which will be of great service to Sloane in his proceedings with going rogue and handling things his way later on. Oh, the point being is the one that Sloane has been aware of since I really don't know and can't tell when. That the leak of information that screwed the mission (SD-6 perspective, d'oh) could have come from the very office of SD-6. Whoa! Didn't see that one coming. So, Julian... does he really think that Syd works for the SD-6 under the impression that they're the good guys and underestimates her intelligence so much, even given the information he could have easily acquired, Danny and all...? He knows about Jack already and with the oddity the three of them are , it should have crossed Sark's mind that Syd could be just as efficient in handling her own agenda in all of this, like Jack and Irina. I guess Faye Dunaway will take the stage soon. This episode does feel more focused, in the loop, linear and also refreshing somehow. Oh, that past mission was in Kashmir. How very insignificant to me.

Sydney and Vaughn behind that parking garage whatever-lookalike fence, green-ish, terrible effect over the screen - yuck... not even possible to make fan art with it - unusable crap that looks good only in black and white. Anyway, this is taking place after a meeting in the SD-6 office. Sark is sitting with the rest of them. Yeah. Again. Sark is sitting with the rest of them. He gives looks across the table and it's cute how he just looks briefly at Marshall and he feels uneasy about it. That whole Echelon dreck is all the rage now and Sloane is giving his deceitful pro-USA talk, quick blah blah this and that. It's some crap that Syd and Sark are sent to Paris for. How very unromantic for the unfortunate two.

But I'm fine with Julian, so... Just wish there was more to work with instead of him being complacently predictable in his role, regardless of how excellent he is. He gets boring fast and there is seriously no progress with his character. His screen time is noticeably overrated considering how he's more of a semi-regular and comes across as rather flat and underdeveloped, a very common tragedy for many characters in Alias. Syd and Sark head off to Paris, Marshall unknowingly hints at the fact that he'll be on a mission pretty soon, Vaugh is headed to meet with Will and help him prepare for psych evaluation. The score used for Paris is great, but the scene will probably end up being too short, not using the opportunity to also bring some Alias magic to the mix.

Unbelievable! Why even bother with the opening credits? They're not even serving the purpose of opening credits. This is one of the best proofs of how tedious they are with sabotaged attention span and inability to separate more relevant from less relevant episode material. 17 minutes and 41 seconds - and here they decide it's a good idea to just drop by with the opening credits. Why not just put actors' names when the episode begins, quit forcing that irritating introduction which is of no use neither to fans nor viewers that just happened to jump in later on as the series progressed? "Previously on" is also quite off since the episode that comes after it has three or four separate or intertwined arcs that either go somewhere or kinda don't. They just don't know when what's delivered isn't nearly enough and of course, when too much is drastically over-the-top kind of too much. They excel at taking themselves seriously while bombarding you with ridiculousness and suspending belief, keeping you distracted, interchangeably uninterested and enthused and displaying complete disregard for focus and television format. I won't stop repeating myself. They love preparing a perfect game just to turn it into a nightmare of an event by jumping the shark. Getting self-defeating quite a lot.

Sloane introduces Jack to Ariana Kane (Faye Dunaway) and the two of them display quite some chemistry straight away. Sydney is hanging out with Will in the city but they happen to be just where Vaughn and Alice were headed. The four share an awkward meet'n'greet moment and Syd leaves with Will looking back at Vaughn, coping that her meant-to-be simply isn't (yet) and Vaughn looks back to look at Sydney after she turned around. So, now this will present itself as a problem since they were all seen together, as Will meeting Vaughn out in the open never happened and Vaughn and Sydney being close to each other time after time in public, avoiding eye contact, even though their recurring proximity can be a big red alert for SD-6. But, different scenery during daytime is fine by me when the alternative is that fence parking lot garage spot that feels like a place for junkies to crash or squat... SD-6, Sark in the briefing room as well yep yep, and Sloane giving the everboring latest mission specifics to Sydney. Already forgot where she's heading. Probably London. But the episode is really great so far - a lot has already happened and I think I remember where this is going. Also, this was way back waaaay back when Alias was really a big hit (still don't know all the factors that were responsible for this tv show to turn into an international success, but glad it was one and that I’m still a part of this experience). F-U-A-R-K, I was writing down everything happening in each episode when season one first started airing in my country. Weird kid. Fandom folk be fandom folk.

Hahaha, it's not fences and stuff at some parking lot underground place, it's basically fenced inside some underground storage place, probably a CIA handler/agent safe zone. Blah blahs taking place are that the crux of this issue is SD-6 aiming at Echelon, which would be massively dangerous if they scored a victory with that mission, having something like that in their hands which would make the dreadful Alliance even a bigger threat than they are right now. Marshall needs to go with Sydney because there's no way to do a crucial part of the task without someone skilled and brilliant as himself helping out from a very remote location. Sark is supposed to give Marshall the what's what in order to be field rated (huh? WTH?) and now the only option the CIA is left with is to have a team extract Marshall once the mission is over and get him out of SD-6. Promising and not a good way of teasing the audience, by the way, since I already know that he's gonna end up with that idiotic Dr. Lee with his mouth and teeth obsession, torturing and all. At least Will really fucked him up since he's in a wheelchair now. ONE OUT OF FIVE, YOU SON OF A BITCH! HAHAHA.

Syd really is kinda suffocated over Vaughn and Alice being together. She leaves and the expression shows her focusing on her breath, exhaling and displaying a perfectly obvious, not over-the-top hurt she's bottling up. Yay! Back to SD-6. Kane is interviewing Jack. Him and Arvin go way back - 30 years. Kane and Jack only have a brief scene, but it's more than rewarding after so much dragging filler that tends to pop in this season, even with ten episodes in. Even...? 47, 000 things happen over the course of 10 episodes of Alias. But season 2 is kinda heating up the right way now. Syd's with Marshall on the plane and he's edgy, jumpy, almost freaking out, barely holding it together, anxious and scared, fear of flying ... the usual drill... but he's a true sweetheart.

Syd and Marshall get the mission done, with some slight troubles along the way (Marshall got shot by a tranquiliser) yet he's the the one stealing the scenes this time - "If it ain't baroque, don't fix it."; great British accent, funny yelling in Ewok language at the security guards, typing and deciphering, getting the Echelon shit for Syd after she'd awaken him enough to do it by kissing him. Him and Syd have an endearingly heartfelt moment with Marshall himself uttering that the best part is that it felt so good to be one of the good guys. They part their ways, but unfortunately, they were spotted during the symphony so CIA's extraction team does not intercept at the intercept(ion?) point as Marshall gets ambushed by the teeth-obsessed creep's men. Who the hell does he even work for now? Is he a part of something or a skillful, disgusting, sadistic freelancer? I always forget. 

Nevermind. So Marshall ends up meeting him instead and that's where the episode ends. Jack paid another visit to Irina over that totally insignificant proposal, and there's no way Irina would ever confess anything if she's got her mind set on seeing her plan coming to fruition. Jack confirms that they're still married since the marriage has never been annulled. She let him know that she's okay with being debriefed by him as well from now on, and not just by Sydney. Well, their brief scene actually shows how much progress was made with this wrecked family drama. It takes talent and skill to make it so believable and possible, on behalf of all of those involved. Also, Kane vs Jack isn't over as she's brilliant in her opposition to Sloane as he's being defensive in regards to Jack. She's willing to prove that he's hiding something, his strategic stance and answers being too perfect. All she needs is a hunch. It is good that somebody mentioned that, said precisely the way she said it. SD-6 means serious and dangerous business run by mercenaries, thieves, powerful people that are sociopaths and scum. It is often downgraded at the expense of other meaningful factors that complete the show's various ways of genre-bending to aim for what it succeeds pretty often at, well-paced suspense/mystery, spy action drama.

This article was a very interesting read. Anyone else spiraling and wondering in which episodes or moments in season 1 and 2 the writers’ minds went straight to… and Tim And Lucy kiss?

These may require some more thought and analysis, but here are some that come to mind for me:

Season 1: This is so hard, because there are so many tension filled scenes, but Tim and Lucy were just getting to know each other, Lucy was getting over her situationship with Nolan, and Season 1 Tim would NEVER. I couldn’t really think of a moment or scene that could’ve led straight to a kiss, but maybe the episode as a whole:

1x07 (Lucy confronts Tim outside of Isabel’s). I know, definitely too soon, but that tension and angst between them in that moment… GAH 🤤. You can’t convince me there wasnt a shift.

1x11 (Lucy gets stuck with a used needle; Thank you! For What? Doing my job?). If Lucy was as bold and confident then as she was in episodes 4x22 and 5x01, she would have sought comfort from Tim by kissing him.

1x14 (Plain Clothes Day)- The banter, Tim in plain clothes 😍, Tim’s discreet protection, loyalty and trust. I wouldn’t have blamed Lucy. I probably would have skipped her in line.

1x18 (Chenford paintball date)- their first unofficial date. A trophy kiss for their Team winning.

1x20 (Tim gets infected with deadly virus)- nothing like a NDE (Near Death Experience; any OA fans out there?), and fear of death, to put things in perspective. Their mutual comfort was chef’s kiss. The closed door being a literal barrier between them. Their last looks at each other, like no one else was in the room (a callback for episodes 5x03-5x04). I could see them running to each other embracing and kissing, a la Sydney and Vaughn (Alias).

Season 2: Oh this one was definitely much more easy. There are so many. This post is getting too long, so I’ll just name 6. I can do a part 2, for second half of the season

2x01 (Lucy confronts Tim about his mistreatment of her so far along; suicide ideation) - Lucy is at her best when she is assertive and stands her ground (🔥) -I could see a Tim apology that leads to a confession and 😘

2x02-(Lucy records audiobook for Tim): the time and thought Lucy put in, on top of the 8-12hr work shifts. That alone warranted a kiss of gratitude. Bonus: Tim was breathing, sleeping, eating, showering, exercising, and working with Lucy’s voice in his head, 24hrs a day. Some say he still listens to the audiobook, you know as a refresher course to being Sergeant 👀

2x03: (betting Lucy couldn’t find a partner for Tim; Lucy’s short sleeves victory): The flirting and invasion of each other’s personal space (boundaries non existent). 📢GET A ROOM📢

2x06 (missile crisis, end of the world): they chose to spend their last moments on earth with each other. Let’s end it with a kiss.

2x08 (Tim wouldn’t have gotten that stupid plaque if Lucy didn’t have his back; Thank you! For What? Doing my job? Part 2): She saved his picture on her Lock Screen! The first thing she sees when she goes to unlock her phone. They breathe each other’s air on that bench. Tim leaned in to her, while drinking his beer. Just kiss her!

2x10 (Introduction of Rosalind Dyer; Lucy meets acolyte Caleb): if Tim had offered to take Lucy out for that drink with another human, the sequence of events that followed never would have occurred, and the night would have ended with a kiss.

2x11 (Lucy’s Rebirth/ Reawakening )- including this because technically there was a kiss. A kiss of life. I could also see their hospital scene ending with a kiss if they weren’t interrupted and talked a little more.

2x12 (Tim keeps tabs on Lucy and gives Lucy her ring back): Both scenes had so many unspoken feelings/ unresolved, good tension. I can imagine if they hugged, it would have ended with 2 kisses.

Season 3:

3x06 (Lucy goes undercover as Nova, the first time)

3x09 (Lucy “fake” feelings confession, and Tim, heart eyes 😍, will miss riding with Lucy)

Season 4: Before 4x22

4x01: (Their first on screen HUG)

4x07: (first undercover together (please correct me if I’m wrong); Lucy 🎤 Tim up with wandering eyes, all the way down and up)

so today I did 2x10, 13, & 15 of Alias and unf I swear David is unfairly gorgeous lol then again, Sark is awesome. also, as I haven’t done a full rewatch in about 10+ yrs, I was shocked to see names like Rutger Haur and Christian Slater come up. I love Victor Garber and to see other big names come up on a show like that back in 2002 is amazing. Rutger has always been one of my top faves and it was so cool to see legendary people like that do scenes together :)

Aria learns that Jason has CREEPY pictures of Aria in his possession. Spencer and Emily assume Jason had taken them because he’s obsessed with Aria in “Touched By An Angel” (2x10). I agree with Emily. The pictures they found ARE creepy and NOT in a good way. When Aria confronts Jason about the photos.  According to Jason, Alison took them, and here’s the conversation.

“Why would Ali take pictures of me sleeping?” - Aria Montgomery

“Beats me. I don’t know what goes on at slumber parties. I found a roll of her film in the house so I developed it.” - Jason DiLaurentis

I don’t fully trust Jason, but I low-key ship #Jaria and think them having a crush on each other is really cute. Jason didn’t break eye contact once when he responded to Aria’s question. He’s either a convincing liar, or he’s being honest. I’m leaning more towards the second one because he kept eye contact and didn’t break it during or after speaking to her. This makes it seem like both Jason and Alison are obsessed with Aria, and Aria’s most likely Alison’s inspiration for the alias and presentation of Vivian Darkbloom and Holly Varjack.

Alhamdulillah telah lahir putri pertama kami yang tercinta.. pada usia kehamilan 39w 6d "Dedek utun" (nama kecilnya di dalam kandungan) pada malam takbir hari minggu, 25 juni 2017 pukul 01.45 wib. Dengan BBL: 3200gr, PB: 48cm Di mulai dengan rasa tidak enak di perut pada tgl 23 jam 10 pagi.. miring kanan kiri sudah tidak reda juga.. Teringat kata2 mba Alia kalau gelombang cinta itu sprti itu jadi main gym ball sambil leyeh2.. pas jam 11 seperti ada yg mengalir hangat dari vagina, pas di lihat itu lendir pink. Senang sekali karena akan bertemu si dedek utun.. Makin lama gelombang cinta makin intens, di bawa gerak sana sini di rumah sambil bebenah. Sahur terakhir tgl 24 mulai berasa dari pinggang sampai kaki rasanya mau copot.. terus afirmasi positif sama dede utun dan tiap his selalu berusaha atur napas & rileks (ini susah banget ternyata) Jam 6 pagi akhirnya ke rs karena paksaan keluarga (takut kenapa2) padahal saya masih kuat dan gelombang cinta blm terlalu kuat, di vt bidan ternyata blm ada pembukaan dan saya memutuskan pulang ke rumah (karna ga nyaman banget di igd) Pulang ke rumah jalan kaki dr rs (karena dekat) muter2 kompleks sambil mules dengan kakak ipar hhi,.. Sampai di rumah main gym ball ga berhenti2 sambil ngemil nanas.. rasanya memang enak pakai gymball ketika his.. sambil atur napas dan selalu bilang "gelombang cintanya menyenangkan, tubuh saya rileks, rahim saya membuka merekah seperti bunga mawar yang cantik dan bayi saya pasti bisa melewatinya. Sambil ngobrol sama dede utun juga kalo kita akan segera bertemu.. Akhirnya setelah buka puasa terakhir saya minta suami antar ke rs, di ctg di sana his sudah 2x10`15" vt pembukaan 3 cm dan portio sangat tipis kata bidan nya.. alhamdulillah setelah itu lendir darah makin banyak keluar.. kemudian di vt & ctg ulang jam 01.00 wib bukaan sudah nambah menjadi 4cm. 15 menit kemudian ketuban pecah spontan jernih warnanya.. cukup banyak keluar.. bidan vt ulang dan pembukaan nambah menjadi 5cm. Emily is sitting in her car with Aria and Hanna in My Name Is Trouble (2x03) and shows them a letter, telling them it was written by her. Here is a crucial line from Aria that people have skimmed over in this episode.

Aria: If you continue as Rosewood’s M.V.P and Anchor until the end of the swim season we can offer you a full scho... Em, the scout changed his mind? This is amazing! Wait that means you don’t have to move.

What Aria said is very important to the next scene I’m about to point out. At the Fields house. Pam comes to Emily’s bedroom door holding a letter and reads it to Emily.

Pam: Honey, you did it. They want you on their team. Mr. Rabin says that if you continue as Rosewood’s M.V.P and Anchor until the end of the swim season we can offer you a full scholarship for Freshman year.

Emily empties the contents of her trash can onto her bed after her Mom walks out of her bedroom. She surfs through the contents. She picks up a neatly folded envelope with the word Danby on the back. It happens to have a message from -A written in red felt tip marker. It says... “You can’t play cat and mouse if the mouse moves to Texas. I need you here, Em. Congrats!” and I think Aria’s the one who wrote it. Another interesting find from when I searched up the name, Anita (Aria’s alias in this episode), is that the signature color is red, and the gem is bloodstone. In “Touched By An Angel” (2x10), Aria wore a shirt that had mice all over it. Some are red, and some are black.

Isn’t Aria supposed to be the “compassionate” one? It would also be ideal if Emily stayed in Rosewood, right? The Liars splitting up is what -A wants, but isn’t -A also the one who brought The Liars back together?
