Problems I have with HOTD so far:

• not letting Alicent be actually evil. Y’all already hate her for being a GOOD person, I can’t imagine how y’all would handle an actually evil queen. I wish she killed Viserys and made Aegon heir Herself!

• no perspective of small folk, closest we have is Criston who is still more well off then 90% of king’s landing. In GOT we got small folks perspectives on their rulers a lot and I hope we get that soon.

• taking away Helaena’s autonomy. Making her the cute autistic girl who does no wrong is such a bastardization of her that it’s laughable.

• casting with specifically Laena. Do not get me wrong, the actresses are gorgeous and Amazingly talented, but because they aged her up during Rhae’s wedding it makes her look even older than Rhae even tho they have at least a 3 year age gap.

• “and now they see you as you are” WHAT? They see a woman drop all decorum for her child? She their queen willing to personally handle situations? Like I genuinely do not know what this is suppose to mean.

• bulldozing the Velaryon family. Rhaenys does nothing when both her children die to the hands of the targs, no one does anything when Vaemon dies, even when Rhae tries to make Luke the lord of the tides no one brings up that his fiancee should be the true lord not him.

• the new promo saying “[team black] acts more like a family” maybe my family is weird but we don’t fuck each other or marry each other at all

• only truely giving team black’s dragon’s personality. We know Vhagar’s SLIGHTLY but Dreamfyre and Sunfyre are nothing right now

• no Alicent birth scene. We get multiple traumatizing birth scenes but the woman who was a mother of 3 before 20 doesn’t get one? Ok

You know at the end, Aegon ii, Helaena, Aemond, and Daeron were failed by everyone in their family. Especially by their Targaryen relatives.

King viserys, their father. Didn’t care for them as much or showed any attention to them. Like when he died, neither of them really showed any sadness or grief over losing their father. He was just a stranger them other than him being their king.

Queen Rhaenyra, their older sister. She didn’t grow a bond with any of her siblings. There wasn’t any love or care between them. She never considered her half brothers as her brothers. She didn’t have a bond with her only sister. Which is why neither of them were hesitant to hurt each others family.

Prince Daemon, their uncle. He hated the Hightower’s so much that even though his younger nephews and niece were born Targaryens, they had Hightower blood in them because of their mother. he despised them for that and didn’t have a bond with them like he did with Rhaenyra. If he can get along with his niece who is sixteen years younger than him, he had no excuse to not get along with his nephews and niece.

Princess Rhaenys Targaryen, their older cousin. Now I understand that she is actually much older because she’s their fathers first cousin. But I feel like she as well, is part of the members of the Targaryen family that didn’t step up for her younger cousins. Much like viserys, she practically ignored them and she also hated the hightowers. (Now I didn’t wanna say too much on her because like I said she is much older and she has her own family so I understand)

Everyone likes to talk about and blame only Otto and Alicent for the siblings upbringing and how they turned out. But turn a blind eye to the fact that the family that they were BORN into, failed them as well and didn’t help at all.

I don’t want to enter in the discourse of “who’s the most oppressed one in a royal family with fictional nuclear weapons” but there is something to be said about the fact that Aegon had all the privilege and that privilege is used to abuse others ,and that this is a big reason him and his family have problems .Aemond was a disabled second son who has to try harder because of his disability ,Helaena is autistic and almost no one treats her seriously ,Otto was a second son whose wealth depended entirely on the Targaryens dynasty ,Alicent is the abused and gaslighted queen consort whose entire position depends on Viserys’s decisions ,and if we want to add Criston ,well,he’s a lowborn dornish man who did get screwed by an authority figure he owed his position .Of course they’re all pissed with Aegon ,he literally is the king firstborn son and probably future king ,and he never tries to be enough for the family or his position.He actually becomes worse ,because he’s not only a lazy drunk no now he’s a rapist who watches child pits .Especially for someone like Alicent who believes in kindness and in fairness and is a rape victim seeing her son use his privilege to abuse people makes her completely disgusted by him ,especially when he acts like he was the trying to be enough and was still treated badly in episode nine .
