Fanfic resource/reference: sharing my notes on Swedish nicknames
I've had the privilege of being taught about Swedish nicknames by some knowledgeable Swedes on here, and I've also tried to research them on my own (e.g. this article in Språkvård has been a great resource). I've got a bunch of notes based on the info I've gathered - they are messy, but I figured I'd share them here for any other YR fic writers who find them useful (inspired by @dreamyelectronicmusic asking about nicknames yesterday)!
Some rules and examples:
- Virtually all Swedish nicknames are bisyllabic with emphasis on the first syllable to flow easily with the spoken language!
- Some very typical standard formats:
Girls’ nicknames most typically end in -a, -(a)n or -i: Cecilia > Cilla or Cissi, Charlotta/e > Lotta or Lotti, Therese > Tessan, Louise > Lussan or Lojsan
The most typical format for guys' nicknames consists of the first syllable, a double consonant and -e: Wilhelm > Wille, Simon > Simme, Mikael > Micke, Charles > Tjalle
Fredrik > Fredde or Freddy, Fredrika > Freddi; Freddie can be either but is often assumed female (cf. Maddie)
Alexander > Alex (pronounced a-lex or al-lex); Vincent > Vince is possible (pronounced vin-se)
- Not every name has an "established" or standard nickname
Particularly applicable to new and international names, as well as names that already have a feel and pattern similar to nicknames: Sara, Rosh, Stella, Felice, Henry
Sometimes nicknames based on a more commonly Swedish variant of the name may be used (e.g. Felice and Henry could be something like Flisan and Hempa based on Felicia and Henrik, but this isn't standard)
- Nicknames can be built from the base name by various methods:
From the start: Katarina > Kattis, Carolina > Carro, Ibrahim > Ibbe, Klas > Klabbe, Alexander > Alex, Beatrice > Bea
From the end: Karolina > Lina, Kristina > Tina or Stina
From the middle: Elisabet > Lisa
Cut & paste: Margareta > Meta, Urban > Ubbe, Felicia > Fia, Flisan, Flisi
Adding a middle consonant: Bo > Bosse
Doubling of first letter or syllable: Lennart > Lelle, Fredrika > Fifi
Doubling of middle consonant: Ingrid or Anna > Ninni, Kristina > Nina
- The form of the nickname is simple, preferably with only one (single or double) consonant sound between the vowels:
If the base name contains a consonant group, one of the consonants is removed: Albert > Abbe, Margareta > Maggan, Viktor > Vicke, Marcus > Mackan
Strong consonants (p, t, k, b, d, g, s) are retained over weaker ones (r, l, m, n): Nils > Nisse, exception: Walter > Walle
If the consonants are equally strong, the first one is retained: Viktor > Vicke, Ulrika > Ulla, Mats > Matte
If the nickname does contain a consonant group, the first consonant is a nasal sound (n, m, ŋ): Henrik > Henke or Henka (pronounced heŋke/a)
A consonant (often p) can be added after a nasal sound taken from the base name: Tommy > Tompa, Bengt > Bempa, Henrik > Hempa
The whole consonant group is pronounced in the same part of the mouth and the second sound is always toneless (never b, d, g)
- The first syllable and other weighted syllables are particularly prominent in nicknames and can lead to different variants:
Birgitta > Bibbi, Biggan or Gittan; Margareta > Maggan, Greta or Meta; Elisabet > Lisa or Bettan; Kristina > Tina, Stina, Kina, Kicki, Nina, Tinni, Tinna…
- Nicknames can also be based on last names, anecdotes etc. instead of a given name, and they may act as class markers:
e.g. Jonny/Sonny/Ronny are working class nicknames
Obscure nicknames and unusual variants are upper class: Smysan (not based on a given name); the real King Carl Gustaf was called Tjabo/Tjabbe in his youth; Queen Kristina would never be Kicki/Tina/Stina but e.g. Tinni/Tinna
Cf. Solsidan episode where Mickan tries to establish "Ybby" for Ebba
Some upper-class people still have normal nicknames (e.g. Wille)
- Many people have no nickname at all; some people may have several; others only have them in specific contexts:
some people introduce themselves by their nickname (Micke), others use their given name but also answer to a nickname among friends (Wille)
some women only use nicknames with their female friends
men may also address each other by their last names (remnant of military style)
people in a group may use nicknames based on last names to distinguish between two people with the same first name (but they don't necessarily use that nickname to address the person!)
- NB. some simple names and nicknames are easy to turn into "baby speak" or playground taunt versions (doubling with p or b):
Annapanna, Ollepolle, Walleballe, Soffiboffi etc.
Parents may be mindful of these when naming or nicknaming their child
--
- Added note on pronunciation: a written double consonant in Swedish denotes a doubly articulated sound:
E.g. Tina is pronounced with a long i and short n, Tinna with a short i and long n (English approximation: tee-na vs. tin-na, emphasis on the first syllable)
---
I realise these rules and examples may not be particularly easy to follow - they aren't for me either! But I figured they might be of interest anyway.
As always, additions and corrections are very, very welcome!
#young royals#young royals meta#nicknames in swedish#fic resources#fanfic resource#fic writing#linguistics#tumblr refuses to apply the shrink function consistently but i'm going to use it anyway

SSP PLUGIN RECOMMENDATIONS
Do you want to customize and expand your desktop buddy experience further? here are some handy links to miscellaneous plug-ins I’ve gathered from around the web, or you can even program your own, and they can also be written in any programming language so the possibilities are limitless! plug-ins are essentially extensions or add-on built for SSP. I’m not a plugin developer myself, and have yet to test out each one of them for extended periods of time, so please refer to the readme files/ instructions provided by the developers (github usually has info) on how to use them if you get stuck or encounter issues. these are just some of the more recently updated ones, I'll be (slowly) adding more to the plugin page of my blog if you're interested!
Do you want to customize and expand your desktop buddy experience further? here are some handy links to plug-ins I’ve collected from around the web, or you can even program your own, plug-ins are essentially extensions/add-ons or additional features for the SSP baseware. there are a wide variety of different Ukagaka compatible plug-ins out there that this list hasn’t scratched the surface of yet, some even make it so seperate programs (Discord, music players such as WinAmp or Foobar2000, encoding software) can interact with Ukagaka. a few newer ones require third party (free) software like VOICEVOX or API keys but the majority are designed to work with just the plain baseware (SSP) but refer to the individual readme files and instructions provided by the developers during setup.
forenote:
most of these will only have instructions/documentation in Japanese, I usually reccomend against machine translation but it’s probably no problem to get the gist of basic instructions!
I’m not a plugin developer, and have yet to test if all of these work with current versions of SSP or with all the compatible ghosts
to install a plugin, you can just drag it to your SSP window.
if you have any suggestions for plugins that I haven’t included yet , please submit them here
Weather Station by Zicheq (of Ukagaka Dream Team)
A plugin for both users and devs, for getting weather data! As a developer, you can set your ghost up to receive weather data from this plugin, to then do what you will with! Weather based comments? Outfit changes? Something else totally unrelated? It’s up to you! This plugin will handle the messy details of the user inputting their location and gathering the weather data for you. … (read more here)
Discord Rich Presence by Ponapalt (main dev of SSP baseware)
This plugin is designed for displaying the name of the primary ghost you have open on the ‘currently playing’ status on the Discord for Windows application in real-time. also compatible with displaying your currently played song in FLUX (a music player ghost by Zi).
Wallet of Unyu
by Don
⚠️NOT A REAL CRYPTOSCAMCURRENCY⚠️
UNYU is a cryptocurrency widely circulated in the world of Ukagaka.
This wallet plugin allows you to freely deposit and withdraw UNYUcoin
anyone can freely withdraw however much UNYU they want, even if you want 500 trillion UNYU
It isn’t encrypted. Transaction history is stored in plain text format in a save file.
plugin download
CeVIO-Talker V2 Plug-in
by Ambergon
This Plug-in was initially revealed for Day 21 of the Ukagaka Advent Calendar collaborative project in 2022. using this you can have a fully voiced ghost with a realistic sounding voicebank speak to you out loud! (in English too?)
it Requires ceVIO Creative Studio and SSP 2.6.45 (or newer) to work, ceVIO is a vocal synthesizer software commonly compared to Vocaloid and UTAU that works via text-to-speech method. the primary difference between Vocaloid and ceVIO is that ceVIO is built for both TTS/speech and creating vocals for songs in music production. you can download a demo of CeVIO if you would like to try it out here.
GhostSpeaker
by apxxxxxxe like CeVIO-Talker, this Plug-in was initially revealed for Day 17 of the Ukagaka Advent Calendar collaborative project in 2023. it’s a successor to the Bouyomi-chan plug-in and utilizes a free (Japanese) text-to-speech software called VOICEVOX and COEIROINK so that your ghost can verbalize their balloon dialogue and speak to you. you can listen to a demo in this github link.
GhostWardrobe
by apxxxxxxe dress-up is available by default on some ghosts but this also allows you to dress up your ghost (if compatible?) in different outfit coordinates, mix and match pieces and save and load the outfit combinations from the plugin menu.
CharameL plugin by Umeici
This plugin allows you to enjoy watching ghosts directly interact and chat amongst each other freely on a built in instant messenger. like a chatroom for seeing what your ghosts chat together about when you’re out of the room.
Stamp Collection by http://navy.nm.land.to/post/
with this plug-in you can provide links and additional information about events to the user, sort of like your ghost collecting stamps on a card when exploring each booth at a virtual convention dealer alley or an easter egg hunt.
Functions: a YAYA type plugin that notifies the user of information about a stamp. Triggered at ghost startup, plugin loading/unloading, and any set timings for OnStampInfoCall to be sent. has been used for things like providing special links and custom dialogue for Ukagaka events or the Saimoe popularity contests. it worked when I tried but a lot of the images linked in the event dialogues for existing ghosts I tried couldn’t be reached without the assistance of the Internet Archive .
compatible ghosts and the shortcuts to use for them are listed here, and new ones are still being added to that list.
if you want to incorporate it into your own ghost, refer to sample.txt.
BalloonMaker by Coderatte
a plugin tool for creating custom balloons. balloons are the speech bubbles/text boxes you’ll see ghosts use to speak.
older plugins (that I haven’t tested succesfully yet, may have compatibility issues with current versions of SSP)
BeerShower
baton/touch plugin by Umeici
?
MicCom plugin by Umeici
?
SSTP Clients
(not plugins but refers to an external application that sends SSTP requests to the SSTP server)
Iria displays the operating process status on the dialogue balloon Kinoko
#ukagaka#ukgk#download#DL#plugin#resources#cevio#cevio ai#vocal synth#webcore#2000s internet#(these are all very modern plugins so not really but shhh i need the algorithm to cooperate#yes they work w/ old ghosts like mayura)

I know Emma frost isn’t in like the original x-men evolution(I don’t think so anyways?) but I was wondering if she’d be in the turn of the century au? Or just the hellfire club in general?(I’ve been watching the old animated series again and it’s infecting my brain) I honestly just think it’d be cool to see what kinda designs you come up for Emma/the hellfire club given how they dress and how different it is to the very modest designs of the time :D
so I don’t think a lot of people realize this, but the hellfire club is loosely based off of 2 things: 1. Hellfire clubs which were like, fraternal organizations filled with rich aristocrats and politicians in Britain in the 1800s people would speculate about them doing satanic worship, and shit (9 times out of 10 it was just gay orgies and swingers clubs meeting as elite social clubs so rich people could get away with things they scorned others for) and then 2. Tammany Hall, an american fraternal political organization that basically controlled New York politics for the better part of a century and a half. If you wanted skin in the game for any position in New York, you had to grease the palms of the Sons of St. Tammany, and they would get you votes. People talk about stuff like secret societies controlling governments now, but like… we kinda used to have them and they were pretty out in the open.
More info on tammany hall here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tammany_Hall
I will say Tammy Hall wasn’t always “evil”, it was just always highly corrupt. it started out as an organization to try and provide political upward mobility for select discriminated groups, mostly Irish immigrants, but the politics of the group after that was basically that of whatever group of men was currently in charge, an oligarchy of sorts without military power. Sometimes you had good people, sometimes you have bad people and it was a roulette as to what you got, weighted by the fact that most members were highly educated and or wealthy. Their main shtick was being able to get huge swaths of people (legally or otherwise) to vote for what and who they wanted in any new york based political race.
I’m imagining the hellfire club of the 1910s au to be similarly a political fraternal org thats members are all old money heirs that discovered they were mutants, and are trying to provide upward political mobility for mutants and a cushion of protection to keep humans from finding them out as mutants and to keep a political stake for mutants rooted firmly in the establishment, but just out of sight and awareness of the public. Because they don’t have the power of a large voting block behind them, their methods of throwing weight around are a lot more covert and illicit: bribery, blackmail, manufactured scandals, little bit of brainwashing here and there… ya know.
Given the time period though and the nature of such organizations as fraternal, Emma would not normally have a place in these groups…
That is if she didn’t have a clever persona to blend in with the boys there
So yeah, she has a false identity of Eric Frost, a cousin of the New England Socialite Emma Frost from Canada that is an active member of the Hellfire Club, meanwhile Emma Frost is a prominent member of various Women’s political clubs that were incredibly common prior to women getting the vote. They were essentially special interest groups for women with money to try and gather a bit of power to swing around. However, I doubt someone like Emma Frost would be satisfied the simply being part of her local chapter of the suffragettes, and instead would want to have a say in political groups with more influence. And while it would be easy for her to just kind of mentally manipulate her way into organizations like the hellfire club with her powers, I feel like she would want to be able to prove to herself she could earn power on her own wit and merit, and the only thing really standing in her way is the prejudice of men.

i still think it makes so much sense if radovid in the show is actually based off of (or at least more off of) radovid the bold/red rather than radovid the stern.
like, first off, it's still never actually been stated which radovid exactly that the show has based its character off of and the only thing that has been said about him officially is this:
“Jaskier falls in love,” Schmidt Hissrich reveals. “And it’s with a character who fans will know [and] continues showing up in the books. So what happens this season between them will have ripple effects for a very long time.”
but that's a statement that fits radovid the great, radovid the bold/red, and radovid the stern as all three of them are mentioned in multiple books throughout the series.
the show has also actually made a reference to "the stern" already and it was with hedwig. at her funeral.
VIZIMIR: We are gathered here today to honor the memory of my beloved Queen Hedwig. To many, Queen Hedwig was a stern and distant figure.
the first time radovid the bold is mentioned in the books is in blood of elves and it mentions him being at least tolerant of witchers and more concerned with matters of money than anything else.
"I have nothing against witchers. Let them hunt vampires. As long as they pay taxes." — Radovid III the Bold, King of Redania
and, well, radovid in the show doesn't seem to have any problem with witchers.
RADOVID: Pick your favorite. Please. They'd love a song about your white-haired witcher.
and money is very much a running theme with his character.
JASKIER: (to Radovid) Geralt is determined to solve it in his Geralt way, because he didn't have enough money to pry their lips apart, but… you do, I assume.
RADOVID: I've got an annuity. I'll bring all I can.
RADOVID: Find my cloaks, anything with fur, take them to the haberdasher, fetch as high a price as you can and bring the coin back to me.
in the books, radovid the bold started a war with kovir due to his greed and it all went very poorly for him. but! he was smart enough to realize that and calm down the tempers of everyone else involved who wanted the war to continue and initiated peace talks instead:
Red was no fool, he was able to learn from his mistakes. He calmed the agitated generals demanding a crusade; he did not listen to the merchants, who demanded an economic blockade, to appease Benda of Kaedwen, who wanted revenge for the destruction of his elite units. Subsequently, he initiated peace talks. Even the humiliation did not deter him, a bitter pill that he had to swallow - Kovir agreed to the negotiations but in its own territory, Lan Exeter. The mountain had come to the prophet.
which imo is very reminiscent of radovid's personality on the show as he's much more willing to try appeal to people in some way and placate them as opposed to using threats and aggressive tactics:
PHILIPPA: But nothing, Sandpiper— RADOVID: If I may offer a thought. Ah, this poor Cirilla girl has enemies everywhere, and, truth be told, Redania's not a bad place. Bit cold in the winter and humid in the summer, but the food is spectacular. And my brother's not bad. As monarchs go. Redania may not be perfect, but it's her least bad option.
RADOVID: I just had the most intriguing visit from the witcher's friend. He seems to think those old farts Codringher and Fenn might have some info about Rience. DIJKSTRA: And? RADOVID: And I'm wondering if perhaps our methods of obtaining the girl would be more easily achieved with a carrot than a stick.
and as far the plot side of things go with the books and the show, i think it'd make sense for the show to use radovid the bold as inspiration for radovid's character given the overlap between the two.
like, radovid the bold was at war with kovir in the books and meanwhile radovid in the show will be at war with nilfgaard in subsequent seasons. in the books, radovid the bold went to kovir for peace talks and a hundred or so years later, dijkstra also went to kovir to beg for money to help defeat nilfgaard. the show could easily use radovid either in place of dijkstra or alongside him to go to kovir for help with the war like dijkstra did in the books which would also be a reference to the bold. and when — spoiler alert — the north does eventually defeat nilfgaard, the show could also use radovid to be the one sort of advocating for or heading the peace talks as another reference to the bold especially as that's just something that would naturally fit radovid's characterization anyway. also something something the lodge and philippa and radovid very likely being her puppet king, too.
and just to mention, and ymmv on how much this constitutes as canon given that afaik it is not officially in the books, but! in the family tree sapkowski created for the books, radovid the bold did have a brother named vizimir. so, y'know, there is also that to add to this theory.

hey, sorry if this is a question you can't help with, but do you (or your follower-base) know how to figure out what surgeon would be most trustworthy for my top surgery. I'm in central florida (to narrow down the area a bit), and when i asked my providers (planned parenthood) about it, they were essentially like, "Well, we don't know anybody, but here's a recommendation letter!" so now I'm just aiming to figure out who to go to. Does anyone have any recommended-lists for doctors in the USA? I'd just google but I don't consider that trustworthy anymore. given the current politics i'm very wary of a doctor who claims they're trans-friendly but is just trying to screw me over. i don't know much about these sorts of things, I always thought I'd never be able to get surgeries. thank you for your time!!
I'll let folks respond to this with recs if they have them! (please do not send them to me in asks, though, I am drowning)
I will also say that some of the best localized resources available exist on Facebook. As much as the site is a nightmare in all ways, it's also very easy to find super niche groups (I'm in one specifically for top surgery in my state) and gather hyper-specific resources. Facebook's group privacy settings can also mean that more people are willing to share more sensitive info in private groups, and you may need that when looking for top surgeons.
Transbucket also includes information on the doctors who've performed their surgeries for this reason (links to surgeons also have all kinds of data, from where they're located, to satisfaction rates, to any associated transbucket posts!) My account is from before they locked stuff down recently, so I don't know what the process for getting one looks like now, but I have heard they've opened things up again. Definitely a good resource to explore. Try searching your state on the site if you do; this should produce everything linked to a surgeon located there.
EDIT: My own surgeon is not on trans bucket anywhere, but I was able to find folks who had experience with him in local Facebook groups, so keep in mind that you might not catch every possible surgeon with a single method.

Character meta - Sortinghatschats
Based on the sortinghatschats system that describes the why and the how of characters and is the best personality system I know. For more info check out @wisteria-lodge and @sortinghatchats
Isaiah
Isaiah Wolfson is a bird primary. No other primary is this good in designing a completely new personality to go with a new system and this is exactly what Isaiah did, when he left his family at 18. He was eager too follow his father's system, his pack's system, until he witnessed it falling down. He saw the worst from his father, the double face, the masks, the paranoia and control, the abuse. Isaiah saw him at his lowest and he covered for him, cause he didn't want his brothers to know.
This brought him an existential crisis though. Cause obviously his father's system was flawed and so was his. Leaving gave him space to find himself, or rather, to completely rebuild himself. He gathered information. Studied psychology to learn more about the human psyche, to understand his own issues, his own confusion. And then it built into fascination. He got new role models, new work, new thoughts and figured out new codes for himself to live by. To be someone he can be proud of.
This new system led him to really embrace his badger secondary. Very untypical for a wolves, who like to posture, who need to have clear power ranks before they are capable of functioning in one room with others, who have their insistent shadows reflecting their deepest desires, raw, ruthless and always, no matter the rationality of it.
But Isaiah's method is caretaking. He bonds with people, offers help, considers their needs, remembers names. He bonds and community builds, throwing himself at young wolves, problematic cases. Seeing a person, he can't help but be kind and considerate. This is something he can only afford because of how insanely powerful and well-trained his shadow is. He gets respect for his power and skill - and that's how he gets away with acting out for character. Being polite, nice and kind, because he wants to. Because he can put people in place if they take it as a weakness.
His emphasis on politeness and good manners, on being gallant and well-dressed, orderly and systematic are all expressions of his smooth courtier badger wanting to be respectful and pleasant to people. And it works, cause man, this guy has contacts. He knows someone, who knows someone, who will help out. He doesn't live in packs or whole communities, he doesn't need it, but when he starts calling in for favours, the city bend itself over for him to fulfill his wish.
It's ironic Isaiah got to deal with an abusive exploded lion badger (his goal of keeping the pack strong is everything and he is willing to sacrifice everyone for it with a very sly badger secondary including the general opinion in his favour) for a father and a glory hound lion for a brother, only to meet and fall for Seline. Seline Silverstein, a proud loud lion primary.
There is steady certainty in how she trusts her instincts, her gut decisions and feelings. She doesn't do anything she absolutely doesn't want to do, following her dream as a cultural studies student and researcher at the university. She believes in being responsible for your own happiness, she has a clear goal and purpose and follows it.
Her outspoken morals, her inability to be silent, the need to provoke and challenge people when something doesn't feel right get her into trouble frequently. True to her primary she is very willing to go against the flow, her friends, people around her. Society won't pressure her away from what she feels is right and she backs it up with research. And she isn't loyal to people or sides either, she follows thoughts. Idealist to the core.
So when the family situation with her brother being a spoiled little brat as a wolf and using his puberty and wolf shadow as excuses made the situation unbearable, she didn't have qualms to move out. She isn't sorry to not belong in any witch coven or wolf pack, if they can't lower their pressure of her being a nice, soothing little witch. The classic role would be a very gentle, caring, tolerant female to calm the wolf tempers in the pack. Thanks, but no thanks. And even though this provokes and irritates the wolf society around her, she values her independence and he beliefs too much to back out.
The lion sometimes gets covered by a very strong and passionate bird secondary though. Seline researches, plans, strategizes and analyses. She is a prepper for all kinds of situations. The tendency to prepare is too much at times, the way she researchers every new skill, verifies information, reads herself into discourses before getting onto something.
Very fitting little bird secondary for her research work. A lion goal and determination followed by a meticulously prepared bird? She is a force to be reconed with, no matter her gentle sweet appearance.
Now as for the pairing, Seline is very attracted to Isaiah's thought out intellectual bird thinking. Isaiah has everything reasoned out, overexplains his tiniest beliefs and habits and Seline digs that stuff. She just loves to reason and think and she likes to back her feelings with clear evidence and eloquent thoughts and loads of reseach, true to her bird secondary. Bird Isaiah is an ideal intellectual sparring partner for her.
Matthew Blackwell has a very straightforward snake lion sorting. The lion secondary is very loud and direct, goes with his tough guy persona and angry wolf image. He has his temper issues and a very blood knight kind of passion for fighting. It's just fun for him, like a sport or a game. Getting into boxing and running really helped him find a good outlet for it instead of just causing him trouble.
The snake is more subdued and living in a rather neutral zone. Matthew didn't have people in his corner for a long time, and with no snake circle he relief on his agressive lion instead. Finding Isaiah, befriending Seline, getting a sort of maybe pack with them was a key moment for him. Now his snake is adopting people and though he is sometimes awkward in caring for them as well as he would like out of sheer inexperience, he is getting there. Maybe even on the way to built a useful badger secondary model for the caretaking required around his people who are strong and yet havr vulnerbilitied he can cover for.
And Matthew is a sweet marshmallow inside who will put his people above everything. He is the only loyalist in the trio, with Isaiah and Seline being idealists. As long as he fits Seline's felt goals and Isaiah's built system of how the world works, it's a stable combination.
Hector Wolfson is a double lion. Very intense sorting. His lion primary has a very Badger like flavour, influence of how he had been brought up in the pack. Duty, greater good of the whole, community. He accepts and tries to follow this, but inside he is a loud glory hound lion in it for himself, for acknowledgement of his strength, his leadership, him being the best.
Hector struggled with the idea that as the second oldest brother Isaiah had a stronger claim to succeed their father for the leadership of the pack than him. Not to mention that catching up to Isaiah was difficult on its own, but Hector never stopped trying. He worked his butt off in training, control, education. For how arrogant, ambitious and self-centered he is, there is lots of hard work, skill and determination to back him up. Lion willpower, let me tell you.
Hector never recovered from Isaiah abandoning what he considered his greatest goal and honour. Isaiah basically spit on what had been unfairly handed to him by leaving the pack instead of leading it. Hector should be happy about this, now he will most likely be the successor. Except Isaiah's reasoning doesn't make sense and Hector now never got to defeat him in a fair fight. He will never be able to prove he was better and more suited, when Isaiah doesn't consider his life long goal worth the fight. It angers him to no end.
Add to this the lion secondary that likes to power through, kick down doors, burn down bridges and say everything directly...not effective in schemer politics of the wolves, but very much so in getting respect and recognition for power and posturing alone. Wolves respect him. Not to mention his double lion has a very inspiring leadership quality to it. Lions are intense, loud and easy to make people follow them.
At the same time his lion secondary isn't destructive or aggressive to the point he couldn't fulfill his obligations. At civilised wolf parties and strategic meetings, Hector can keep his cool and insult people in a very polite measured manner no one can dispute. He cuts the pleasantries and talks around it short and gets things moving. No-one said lions couldn't be polite. They are just very direct and no nonsense about it.
By the way, his second in the pack, Delaney, shares the double lion sorting. Idealistic, goal-oriented, steady in her determination and very on par with Hector's direct approach.
The Wolfson trio (Hector has brown eyes though) is rounded up by a double snake youngest brother. Arnold "Arnie" Wolfson really got an unfortunate hand. A human brother in the family, he wasn't interesting for his father's ambitions and was left out of lot of the wolf pack business and power struggles.
Arnie has that air of shameless self-worth and self-interest of a young snake though. He likes fun, joy and the pretty things in life. He is here to enjoy himself. And he doesn't care about politics. The most he cares about other than himself is his tiny circle. The pack doesn't matter to him as a whole, he doesn't feel obliged to it. Isaiah and Hector are his people, and he wants them back and nice to each other. That's it. Where Hector can't forgive Isaiah for betraying their common goal and can't move past this to try to understand or figure out his mysteries, Arnie just longs to get back to his brother and reconcile. Isaiah can betray them or leave them or do incomprehensible stuff for wolf standards, but he is Arnie's person so he will be forgiven and given the benefit of the doubt. Arnie, in contrast to Hector, wants to understand, wants to find out, wants to get along.
His secondary is a playful snake. Arnie likes to tease, lie, push and change strategies in the middle if they don't work. Silver-tounged with mischief in his eyes, he enjoys the freedom of his humanity. He might not matter for the wolves, but he knows them and their etiquette enough to play at whatever situation to turn it in his favour. While wolves are busy figuring out ranks and fighting off their shadows, he will design the positions and talks to support his agenda. Quick on his feet and sneaky and very much enjoys it. Sonny Carter is a double snake as well - it's just very handy for charming behind the scene schemers.
Rip has a very obvious Lion secondary. He is instinctive, acts before he thinks and how he feels and he has that inspiring quality of buldozering lions who throw themselves at things as a solution.
A lot less obvious is his badger primary. Rip thinks in groups and wants to belong, but because of the abuse from his father and losing his family because of him, he basically kicked himself out of his own community. Even though he doesn't trust people and doesn't think he can be part of anything anymore, he still creates a role for himself with the strays, protects younger wolves, keeps the street strays off radar and big conflicts to not attract bigger pack's attention. This is something he feels like doing.
Rip has a strong sense of justice, that's why I first thought he might be a lion primary. But it's just a very strong felt primary. His sense of justice is about what's best for the weakest person and for the overall community. He is always aware of his role, what he can offer and who he can burden, in relation to others. Isaiah and Rip understand each other well, because of Isaiah's incredibly badger flavoured system. He recognises the values in Rip, although Rip is actually the actual badger here.

somewhere in paris december 27th, 1998 mid-evening by the look of the sky. cloudy. heavy traffic on the streets. @everythingheard (leon)
there's a variety of factors which causes vexation to vibrate within jill's very cells. such is only compounded by the events which have played out within the last thirty-two minutes since her arrival at the apartment. she'd navigated to the building easily, of course. finding the safe house with the kind of ease that spoke to previous dealings in the area. (for while jill had been raised in the states, her mother had long past abandoned them and her father had been french-born and they'd visited often; a lot of his clients had been from there for it had been where he'd first made his name before he'd expanded across continents. as such jill had known these streets like the back of her hand, it made for quicker get-a-ways when needed.) that hadn't been the issue. the problem had laid in the fact that barry and leon had waited to move locations, packing up the last of their supplies while the other two ex-stars she hadn't much knowledge of had headed out first to secure the other safe house on the outskirts of the city. they'd waited for her because there had been no method of secure communication to reveal the change when she'd been in-route from austria. jill knew claire was missing yet claire had also been missing in action in umbrella's custody for over ten days with little information known the last time jill had been in contact with any of their group.
though....
based on the phone calls they had shared over that time, it appeared leon had proved a decent hacker, enough to get her the info she needed to get what she'd gone to austria for and get out, even if it hadn't been information on claire. that said, once jill had arrived, she'd been informed that claire's sudden communication the night before had revealed umbrella had figured out at least some of them were in the city. it was unknown if they knew where exactly, but moving to a new safe house had been the logical next step. apparently chris had thought so too, before he'd left on his own to find claire.
which was another point which made jill uneasy and had caused her to offer barry a displeased look that had him raising his hands at her in defense. they'd let chris go by himself with no back up. a part of jill understood that when chris had his mind set on something he wasn't going to change it-- the older redfield wouldn't have given them a choice and would have laid out valid reasons for his decision-- and she figured he knew what his thought process was too. it still frustrated her, even if she'd sighed and offered a comment toward barry that she understood a moment after. he'd patted her shoulder and told them to gather the last few bags and he'd pull the van around that they'd secured under a false name.
that'd led to her and leon remaining in a half-empty apartment, checking to make sure all traces of their umbrella resistance were wiped from the flat. it'd also led to a series of half-quizzical looks, as if one was trying to recall something half-forgotten. she'd wondered when he'd put it together since the moment she'd heard his name on the phone. she supposed the universe had a sense of humor. a kind of 'of all the gin joints in the world' moment. if she was honest, jill didn't think she'd even have recalled him at all, if what happened a month after that weird weekend two kids had played while their criminal parents worked together hadn't happened. as it stood an entire criminal syndicate wiped out by persons unknown made the news. it created a lasting memory. or maybe it'd been his goofy smile and kindness that he'd so out of place in that world.
yeah, maybe it'd been it.
she hadn't known he'd survived. she supposed that'd been kept out of the papers for the kid's protection. yet, as random as it was all these years later, hearing chris say his name as being a raccoon survivor and with his sister and john, becca, and david had made her actually crack a smile. sure there could have been others with the same name. but the universe had a funny way of throwing coincidences at them as of late and she'd known it was him. she just had. it was only confirmed for sure when she'd locked eyes with him and seen the way his hair fell over his eyes. so many years later and he still had that same hair cut and hopeful expression. she was glad raccoon hadn't taken it from him. at least not yet. she hadn't voiced anything about it yet though.
all that was to say, it led to the present predicament they'd found themselves in. a loud noise outside drawing attention to the fact multiple men with military gaits were entering the building, seen from the window above. she had the feeling, based on the amount of time since the first sound which had undoubtedly been caused by barry that it was entirely possible more than the two men had already entered the building. hand meets her side, pulls out a small wrapped bundle with one hand as she opens the door with the other, placing the bundle in leon's hands.
"tell me there's a neighbor that works the night shift on this floor. preferably on the west side of the hall." she begins, knowing that they'd have made a habit out of knowing the patterns of those around their safe house. it was the tactically sound thing to do. further, if they could make it into a flat in the chosen direction, they should be able to cross onto the roof of the next building which was a level shorter than this one and make escape through there with them none the wiser they'd still been there and they hadn't just 'missed them'.
"make use of those skills i graciously taught you and get us inside without breaking the door. i'll delay those umbrella goons. okay?"
speak now if you've forgotten, leon.
it better be people from umbrella and not some police agency. none of them wanted to engage with officers just trying to do their job and wholly unknowing of the truth of the matter. that jill and the others weren't the bad guys. they were trying to expose the bad guys and just so happened to be put on a fugitive list by a bunch of corrupt shitheads that spent their free time directing people to make bioweapons or paying off people to look the other way. that sounded just as crazy as when she'd attempted to tell some of the officers once things started to go to hell in raccoon that they needed to go out and put a bullet in the head of all those groaning people, their friends, maybe their families because they weren't them anymore. (by the time any of the officers came to really understand the truth it had been too late for them. most of them she hadn't really gotten to know well but she hoped marvin had at least died himself and not turned. she'd always been fond of him.)
jill doesn't explain how she's going to do this, taking her weapon out as he opened the bundle to reveal a lock picking set. 'always be prepared jilly', her father used to tell her. also, always map out an exit before you enter or as soon as you're able. both were proving to come in handy. disappearing down the hallway, all that's heard a few minutes later is the crash of a buggy on the stairs and the spilling of the contents of a bag. it wouldn't pause them long, seconds really, but it should be enough, especially with the exclamations of the person on the floor below's landing who appeared to think a baby was actually inside the buggy and not it being empty sans a doll. jill was just happy the person at the end of the hall had seemed to make a habit of leaving certain items outside the door because it was by the landing and had room for it. moving quickly back down the hallway, she meets him at the door as the door opens.
"glad to see you have decent memory. sneaking into a lot of places you weren't supposed to be, huh leon?" it's a light-hearted tease meant to cut the very serious tension of the moment, them moving inside just before the men reach the landing down the hallway. "we wait until they break into the other flat, then move for the window." she whispers, motioning for them to move away from the door quietly.
#apparently i can not write short to save my life with these characters but also a lot of it was set up so like totally dont have to match#length and obviously placing this during code v#everythingheard#muse; jill valentine#totally had to include our headcanon too and get to see the brotp at work!#v; bprd: biohazard timeline

Since I came across this post years ago (pre-covid), I've been encouraging students to do this. Some groups are very receptive and quickly get the hang of it - usually their learning processes become more interactive, faster and more effective. But some groups are not willing to collaborate at all.
I have a few ways of incentiveizing cooperation, but sometimes I completely fail at it. In these cases it's mirrored in students' results and actual level of insight and knowledge. I know I can't motivate everyone, but when this happens I still feel like I haven't done enough.
Background info: our uni uses Microsoft 365 with Teams, so in all my courses the main platform for communication, collaboration, sharing class materials and handing in assignments is MS Teams. I really like the organization options that come with the software. 90% of the classes are in-person, and we even record those class meetings so students always have the option to watch it back if they missed something. Therefore students actively use Teams for all my classes. To summarize: we have the infrastructure and support for easy collaboration.
Ideas for encouraging collaborative work I gathered so far besides cool group projects:
Rewarding: students get points for creating common knowledge bases, or if at the end of the semester they need only a little bit to get a better grade, their collaboration is taken into consideration. These methods basically use gamification elements.
Forcing them to collaborate by creating a suitable scenario: e.g. I require them to come to a concensus about certain topics and make them stick with those in cases that require them to at least have a shared list of these concenses. This is an easy trick, and provides the basis for the next one.
Taking responsibility: basically emotional manipulation. Explaining the merits of working together and kind of pressuring them into it with making them realize how they rely on each other to actually finish a project. This method relies heavily on the students' sense of accountability.
Changing up roles: cooperative group roles can be interchanged for different phases / projects. Students need to agree on who contributes how, teacher flexibility might be needed. With this method, special needs can be accommodated, and motivating is easier if students can play to their strengths. (Then later on, we can work on their weaknesses by adjusting the roles as such.)
Feedback and positive reinforcement: continuously monitoring students' notes and process, giving valuable feedback, praising progressive contributions, recognizing good work and work ethics.
In each case I used words like "forcing" or "making them do things" I meant them only in a functional way. Long-term productivity and a real change in engagement and learning can only be achieved if I can make my students willingly cooperate. I need them to want to do this, and not do this against their will. A supportive and positive learning environment is the most basic element of any of this to work.
I'm not saying that collaboration MUST happen in a classroom setting (even though it has great benefits), but I have classes where students (mostly teacher trainees) need to learn to work together in a way that they will also be able to apply this technique in their own teaching.
I've found that with primary and secondary school children it's easier, but college students are way more difficult to motivate.
I'm open to ideas and good practices how I can make the unwilling students to at least work together, or make any group project / student collaboration better!

Eorzean Sign Language, a brief timeline
ESL is one of my favorite headcannons/lore bits about Rhel'a but I've never talked much about it. lets fix that
ARR:
Rhel'a is recruited by Y'shtola into the scions of the seventh dawn. at this point Rhel has been using written notes to communicate with others due to his mutism.
a brief interview with Minfilia sheds some light on his communication issues. she quickly puts into place accommodations for Rhel informing the rest of the scions about his needs and ensuring he is only sent on missions where his mutism isn't an issue
(In my head, the period of working with the scions pre Garlean ambush lasts close to half a year)
her interview with Rhel'a also plants the idea of a hand sign based language. Rhel'a mentioned that during his prior "employment" on a Limsan calamity salvager ship, that the crew used handsigns to communicate with each other over longer distances. Minfilia also remembers from her time as a miner that crews would on occasion use hand signs to communicate when in noisy environments
Taking her thoughts to Urianger the two eventually settle on the idea of developing a handsign based language for use among the scions. partially for utility and partially to accommodate Rhel'a
Minfilia canvasses several Ul'dahn mining crews to learn the most common hand signs in use
Urianger schedules some meetings with Rhel'a to learn some of the hand signs used by his former crew.
in addition Urianger sends a request to the Noumenon for several Sharlyan codices on historical sign languages. (they're woefully incomplete as previous sign languages were not widespread enough for detailed records to be kept)
using the resources that they've gathered, Minfilia and Urianger collate what would become the first Codex of Eorzean Sign Language.
Minfilia immediately begins spreading the usage of ESL among the scion operatives who find a secret and silent method of communication useful during various operations.
Urianger sends a copy of the first Codex of Eorzean Sign Language back to Sharlyan for archiving. he also personally tutors Rhel'a on its usage.
As a final touch, Minfilia submits a proposal to the grand companies for the adoption of a sign based language for use during their military operations, citing benefits to utility, stealth, and efficiency that the scion operatives experienced by adopting such a system. each of the grand companies receive a copy of the first Codex of Eorzean Sign Language
Heavensward:
Over the course of Heavensward, the Grand Companies adopt ESL as an official method of communication. higher ranked members of the grand companies are often given mandatory ESL classes.
ESL fluency in the Grand Companies also begins to bleed over into the adventurers guild. turns out having a hand sign based language to fall back on is incredibly handy when there's a significant number of monsters capable of inflicting silence in Eorzea. Adventurers who often work with the Grand Companies pick up snippets of ESL and begin creating signs relevant to their own occupation.
Perhaps the most shocking adopters of ESL are the Ishgardians. Somehow copies of the first Codex of Eorzean Sign Language made it past the walls and took up quick adoption by the Temple Knights largely due to the prevalence of hearing loss among their number
(you tell me that firing a cannon all day, or having to withstand a dragon's roar wouldn't give you hearing loss)
meanwhile across the bloodbrine sea in the halls of the Studium. a particular Codex of Eorzean Sign Language sparks an intense debate on the nature of languages. the points of the discussion vary but include ideas such as "Sharlyan could do a better job" "is such a language is even worth studying?" "of course it is you halfwits we're witnessing the rapid and organic development of an entire new language! complete with various reigonal dialects!" and "How could we let the Eorzeans come up with the idea first"
all of this info trickles back to Urianger who begins work on the 2nd and 3rd Codex of Eorzean Sign Language
Stormblood:
While unfortunately adoption of ESL isn't particularly high in the far east. its sees some marginal spread into Ala Mhigo due to the return of refugees post liberation.
Thavnarian merchants also pick up a small amount of ESL from trading in Limsan ports
Once the Garlean conflict picks up post SB and the newly formed Eorzean Alliance unites to respond to the Garlean threat, the high ESL fluency among troops proves its worth in the trenches of the Ghimlyt Dark where the sounds of gunfire and warmachina drown out voices.
the 2nd and 3rd Codex of Eorzean Sign Language are published at around this time which include chapters on the Grand Company, Adventurers Guild, Ishgardian, and even the newly forming Sharlyan dialects of ESL
Shadowbringers:
Why the fuck is everyone in the Crystarium fluent in ESL???
apparently the Crystal Exarch is fluent in ESL? when the Crystal tower first appeared, one of the things that he did was teach the various survivors of the flood of light sign language... no one knows what the fuck is an Eorzea though, and whenever asked the Exarch simply replies that its a land far away from here. Given that no one has heard of the place everyone assumes that the Exarch developed the language himself and uses a made up country to try and pretend otherwise
(tucked away in the bowels of the crystal tower are old and well read copies of the first to third Codices of Eorzean Sign Language. G'raha is terribly guilty about stealing credit for ESL from its original contributors. Rhel'a among them. but if it makes the Crystarium a more welcoming place for Rhel'a when he eventually arrives then its worth the guilt)
Rhel'a loves it btw. no one bats an eye at his sign language, and he barely needs an interpreter or written notes when roaming around the Crystarium. He quickly takes to the first specific words and dialect as well
Endwalker:
At this point in my head its been several years since ARR. Sharlyan scholars marvel at the rapid spread and development of ESL across the star.
While the Sharlyans created their own ESL dialect, spurred on by Eorzea's development. their isolationist practices mean that its been starved of contact with other dialects and lacks a lot of the shared vocabulary. this means that while fluency is high among their population (you give a nation of scholars a new language to play with and don't expect them to compete who can become fluent the fastest???) its actually somewhat difficult for Rhel'a and other ESL speakers to sign with Sharlyan speakers of ESL. the Sharlyan dialect of ESL tends to come off as snooty and prudish as a result.
The Sharlyan dialect however is king of being specific. most creature genera, chemical substance names and various other scientific terms have signs in Sharlyan ESL.
development of the language is firmly out of the hands of Urianger and Rhel'a at this point as well. several other publications collating hand signs have popped up. And several Sharlyan theses, studies, and papers on the subject have been written. ESL has established itself well and truly as a living language
copies of the Codices of Eorzean Sign Language were sent to the moon and the Loporrits being the devoted creatures they are immediately mandate learning ESL to accommodate for any mute or deaf Eorzeans that they would need to host.
Following the events of Endwalker, there's also a prominent movement to rebrand the language as Etheryian Sign Language. some speakers begin to use the term interchangeably with Eorzean Sign Language.
Dawntrail:
apart from contact with Eorzean traders. there's no notable spread of ESL to the new world...

Done streaming! Hi again!! :D I'm gonna put all this under a read more cuz as I'm typing all this it's turning into a lot LOL
Happy reading!💙
So. This minecraft passion project has been in development for over two years which started as a Minecraft Origins!AU that @cosmic-nopedog conceptualized. Then I came in, started clinking our OCS together, and now it's become a great big thing of its own that we plan on making a multimedia webcomic for! The setting is entirely Minecraft based, the world setting taking place particularly in version 1.16.4 (a version measuring to about 5 years in-world) and vaguely surrounding / taking inspiration from different mods like Thaumcraft, Create, and of course Origins! Here's a line up of what the origins in this world look like! (Art by me!)
(NOTE: not all humans have goat features, that's just a cosmetic glamor! Lots of humans have this and it's comparable to being able to change your skins in Minecraft!
NOTE 2: That merling is an angler/bullet shrimp(?) mix and not all merlings look like this
EDIT: my mistake, she's a mantis shrimp/angler
NOTE 3: some of the heights vary widely between origins so all heights are based on overall averages)
We've titled this project Concrete Garden and it follows the story of a group of four Netherborn Origins. Whyn, a ghast, Psyder, a nether born enderian, Fyrglass, a piglin, and Aster, a magma cube origin, otherwise known as Magmafolk (my character!)
Here's their line-up in order! (Art by @cosmic-nopedog )
I'll introduce them in order of appearance:
WHYN CHESA CRISORAN (he/him)
Art by @cosmic-nopedog
A 21 year old college student (3rd year as of start of the comic) who is going to school as a graphic designer with a minor in psychology. He is one of the most normal characters in this line up as far as background goes. Literally just a fucking dude. You will see what I mean.
Whyn is a socially awkward (and severely depressed) man who finds solace in the arts like music and theater. He is constantly getting roped into antics and situations by his peers and can never seem to talk his way out of them (literally the guy you have to do the "he asked for no pickles" thing with). Though even in his fear of being perceived, he still has strong conviction in his belief in the good of others, even if it's at his own expense.
PSYDER MALLUM (he/she/they)
Art by @cosmic-nopedog
A 22 year old assassin with a long and complicated past despite his age. He is the starting protagonist of the first few chapters in the story. He is currently in a relationship with Whyn. (The one who says "he asked for no pickles")
Psyder finds interest in theater and fashion and happens to be very materialistic. They are as quick witted as they are cunning with the looks to match, qualities to which they use to their advantage when doing assassin work. All of these qualities however root from a deep-seated paranoia in which no one but Psyder truly understands. However her motivations are clear in her pursuit of living a financially comfortable life alongside the people she cares for. No matter the lengths she must go to get it.
FYRGLASS KAMUUSUBIS (he/him)
Art by @cosmic-nopedog
A 19 year old piglin who is a new enrollee at the same college that Whyn is attending (they are dormmates!) he is going to school for Clerical Magics and Enchantment Engineering and has a passion for experimentation.
Fyrglass is incredibly clever and energetic with a constant thirst for knowledge that never seems to be satisfied. He is an incredibly gifted cleric-in-training even if his methods are... Questionable. His thirst for knowledge and desire to prove his skill often treads the lines of morality and self preservation to a concerning degree. Though to his defense, it's as if he was never taught where that line was to begin with.
ASTER KAMMUSHOSUUEI (he/him)
(my ass being terrible at making proper references shines through)
A 20 year old info gatherer who works alongside Psyder in criminal activity. He has several part-time jobs as a blacksmith, a glassblowing assistant, a construction worker, and a general contract worker, all to serve as covers for information gathering for his criminal work.
Aster is a charismatic and extroverted individual with loyalty that could rival a dog. His thirst for knowledge equals his younger brother and sounder* mate Fyrglass. Aster's passion differs from scientific endeavors, however, and is rather focused towards people and stories. His passion in learning about others gives him advantage in his intel gathering. Though in his pursuit of information through motivations only few understand, he often finds himself asking questions in places he knows he shouldn't.
(NOTE: a Sounder is a community of piglins, one of which Aster was raised in alongside Fyrglass)
Now...What is Concrete Garden even about?
Concrete Garden is an Action Drama Thriller that explores the complexity of trauma, interpersonal relationships, and how to progress despite the past. There is political drama, elements of psychological horror, and queer romantic subplots.
But to put it simply; It is a story about growing... despite everything.
Damn you got to the end of all that? I'm impressed. It's getting rather late and I've been typing for quite a while but if you have any questions PLEASE feel free to ask! just know that some things are secret because of [REDACTED]
Ooh, I saw in the tags that you have a minecraft passion project? Do tell!
Yes! i do! i actually have to stream right now but i will come back to this post afterwards!

In an era filled with fake news, what effect can this have on crowdsourced information?
The increasing number of fake news has become a major problem at a time when information is freely available. It has a significant and worrisome effect on crowdsourced information, which is information gathered from the individual contributions and collective intelligence of many people. Crowdsourcing depends on the cooperation and pooled expertise of a broad group. However, the legitimacy and dependability of information gathered from crowdsourcing can be seriously jeopardised by the spread of false information.
Crowdsourced Information Features
Crowdsourcing is an effective concept that uses the combined knowledge, varied viewpoints, and abilities of a sizable group of people to create content, find solutions to issues, or compile data. Crowdsourced data and contributions are vital to websites and citizen journalism projects such as Wikipedia, Reddit, and others. This method encourages the democratic exchange of knowledge by enabling users from all around the world to add, verify, and edit content.
The Problem with Fake News
Information that is inaccurate or deceptive and presented as news is known as fake news. It can be disseminated for a number of purposes, including advancing a certain agenda, misleading others, or generating revenue.
When it comes to crowdsourced information, fake news may be especially dangerous since it can be hard to tell it apart from legitimate news. Misinformation may proliferate as a result, and confidence in information gathered from crowdsourcing may decline.
Fake news has grown to be a serious issue because it frequently presents sensational, deceptive, or wholly false material as factual reporting. It penetrates news organisations, social media, and even trustworthy websites. Fake news may proliferate for a number of reasons, such as political goals, monetary gain, or just plain fun. The validity of crowdsourced data may be compromised by this misleading information in a number of ways.
What Effect can this have on crowdsourced information?
Crowdsourced information may suffer from fake news in a variety of ways, including:
It has the potential to distort poll and survey results. The survey's results will be skewed if a sizable portion of respondents take part in it and trust a false news article. Misunderstandings and false information on public opinion may result from this.
It may be applied to social media manipulation of crowdsourced data. Fake news articles, for instance, can be used to establish "echo chambers," where people are only exposed to material that validates their own opinions. People may find it challenging to learn about other viewpoints and to generate well-informed opinions as a result of this.
Disinformation concerning crowdsourced information itself can be spread through it. Fake news articles, for instance, might be used to damage crowdsourcing platforms' reputations or lead readers to conclude that the material they get online is untrustworthy.
Diminished Credibility: Information published on crowdsourcing platforms loses credibility when it contains fake news. It causes uncertainty about the veracity of all material, even when it is thoroughly researched and validated, by obfuscating the distinction between true and fraudulent content.
Impact on Decision-Making: In crowdsourcing settings, false information obtained via fake news has the potential to impact decision-making procedures. Users could base choices on information that is wholly inaccurate or deceptive, which could have an effect on results and lead to incorrect conclusions.

Bonus: Battling against Fake News in Crowdsourcing
The issue of fake news is significant and has the potential to harm crowdsourcing data. It's critical to take precautions against being deceived and to be mindful of the possibility that false news might skew crowdsourcing information.
The following advice will help you guard against fake news and how it affects information gathered from crowdsourcing sources:
Examine the information you take in with a critical eye. Never blindly accept something because it appears on social media or originates from a reliable source. Make your own investigation to confirm the information.
Recognise the telltale indicators of false news. Sensationalised headlines, factual inaccuracies, and sharing by unfamiliar accounts are common characteristics of fake news articles.
The fight against false information tainting crowdsourced data is definitely not over. It necessitates constant attention to detail, flexibility, and cooperation from platform creators, users, and society at large. Refined moderating techniques, media literacy as a top priority, and an embrace of future technology can strengthen crowdsourcing information against false news.
In the end, false news offers a chance as well as a significant obstacle to crowdsourcing information. In order to protect the integrity of shared knowledge, it exhorts us to innovate, work together, and create more reliable systems. We can all benefit from preserving the integrity and dependability of crowdsourced information by banding together to fight fake news.
