HAN’S INFODUMPING ABOUT JAY... START!!!!
so like sgdkdhdkdhd I say Jay and Lloyd are my “favorites” but honestly it’s so hard to pick favorites out of this skittles squad like I love EVERY character for a variety of different reasons. I was going to also infodump about Lloyd but then I started talking about Prime Empire and then this post got. Long. So. it's just Jay I may infodump about Lloyd another day especially since I'm very Conduit Brained Rn but yea yea!
this is long so i'm putting most of it under the cut so y'all don't kill me for making a huge long post
I considered putting Zane and Sora on here as well since I’d also consider them my “favs” but like this is already gonna be. A lot of. Infodumping (also i typed THIS part before I even started and decided not to yell about Lloyd because this already got long enough). Maybe I’ll make a separate post for those two hmm hmm much to consider but for now MY (technically) FAVORITE NINJAGO CHARACTER: JAY WALKER
THE SPARKPLUG WHO INVADED MY BRAIN LIKE A PARASITE
Tumblr media
so hey his name is a pun this makes me laugh ridiculously hard every time I remember he is named. After a misdemeanor HSKSHDKFH
Jay is such an interesting case of a character for me because I started out the show not liking him. Which is. Stares at my entire account I think my feelings have changed somewhat
Jay starts out as an asshole I don’t think anyone can disagree with me there (although honestly they’re all assholes in early ninjago they bullied a ten year old and left him dangling several feet off the ground) but over the course of the show you can see him start developing into a much more interesting character. He goes from being so insecure he's faking everything about himself to someone who knows who he is and is so genuine about it
now yea we could argue about whether his character was too uwu-ified post-season 10 but this is the FUN HAN POST SO WE'RE NOT GONNA TALK ABOUT THAT the point is you can SEE the growth that Jay has gone through and I am going to show you that growth through what I call
✨ The Skybound to Prime Empire Effect ✨
I AM SO PASSIONATE ABOUT THE IDEA THAT PRIME EMPIRE WAS WRITTEN TO BE A DIRECT PARALLEL OF SKYBOUND AND WAS CENTERED ON SHOWING HOW THE NINJA ESPECIALLY JAY HAVE GROWN THROUGHOUT THE SEASON
when season 12 rolls around we are at the point in Jay's development where he is CONFIDENT in who he is. He's a fun-loving jokester with the power of lightning and the drive to help people whenever he can. He uses jokes and humor to help alleviate tension and get people through whatever's happening. And when on his own what does he do?
Tumblr media
BECOME AN ENTERTAINER BABEY
i like to think jay's club in prime empire was a safe haven for anyone stuck in the game who figured out hey. we Can't Leave and felt freaked about it. Also Jay would generally try and spread the word that hey something ISN'T RIGHT HERE which would lead people to want to stay with him
(totally plugging my friend's fic but this kind of thing is explored in would you like to enter prime empire by @finn-m-corvex y'all should check it out cool cool)
also the prime empire shorts which i watched all of in the midst of typing this video cuz i love them go watch them please please please jay was publically fighting the red visors which I imagine may have raised some red flags for some players
THIS SOMEHOW TURNED INTO PRIME EMPIRE INFODUMPING LMAO ANYWAYS Jay's confident! He becomes an entertainer because it's who he knows he is! And it's something that will get people hyped and having fun, which is very in-character for Jay to do! He uses those kinds of things to mask the Bad Things going on and get people remembering what's good
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I've talked about this sort of thing before but that's Jay's whole philosophy as early as season 9! Which is a DIRECT contrast to how he views it in season 6, as Nadakhan puts it scarily accurately
"You make jokes to mask the fact that you're afraid"
(i was gonna grab a screenshot for that like i did with the hunted scene but netflix has bloCKED THE ABILITY TO TAKE SCREENSHOTS THE WAY I USED TO and i don't have them already and i'm too lazy to grab them from elsewhere so alas trust me he says it)
making jokes to hide your fear and using humor to remind yourself of what's good and coping with the bad are two VERY different outlooks on it
so I think this outlook is what drives him to make this glamrock persona in the first place - this is a bad situation, one he's in with other civilians, and what better way to keep him and themself safe until the others get there than throwing a big performance at a safe place!
also it's just so gender okay I want to look like Superstar Rockin' Jay so badly
it's also interesting to see his outlook on his parents change over time! In season six he finds out Ed and Edna aren't his birth parents and feels upset about it, not understanding why his birth parents would've abandoned him. In season twelve, that outlook changing is EXACTLY why Jay's able to get through to Unagami
"I was abandoned by my parents, too!... I never understood why, and I never had the chance to even ask. But I always hoped there was a good reason. What if there's a reason?"
(again curse you netflix i wanted SCREENSHOTS whatever whatever)
It's this scene that gets Unagami to calm down long enough for Milton Dyer to get there, and presumably is what stops him from just. Flattening him and Jay like a pancake.
to piggyback off of this i absolutely adore how Unagami and Jay consider each other adopted brothers in that one book I still haven't read and I hope he's in Dragons Rising at some point Unagami is my favorite "villain" (no longer a villain) in the whole show he deserves more screentime
Tumblr media
like this is where i found out about this and it's plagued my mind ever since. i need to read. this book just for them
SO YEA OKAY Prime Empire is "Who is Jay as a Person Post-Skybound" to me also it opens up so many fascinating things about Jay. I rest my case
so backpedaling a little bit. JAY CARES SO MUCH ABOUT HIS PARENTS GUYS IT'S SO SOFT AND I'M sobs
like yea the first episode with Ed and Edna in it has Jay avoiding them like the plague but this gets explained very easily when you remember he was bullied for his home life before he became a ninja. It makes a lot more sense why he wouldn't want them around his new friends, assuming they'd react the same way. Also how was he supposed to know literally all the rest of the groups parents were either dead, presumed dead, or had a toxic relationship with their kid lmao
(Cole calling his mom kills me. Cole's mom is dead. I know they probably just didn't think that far ahead when writing the dialogue but it's so funny mans pretended to call his dead mom to get on Jay for not appreciating his parents iconic behavior)
anyways literally every episode Ed and Edna are central to (except like the one in skybound) Jay stops at nothing to protect his parents and it means the absolute world to me he's so much like them!! They raised an inventive little nerd and he will stop at nothing to make sure they're safe and it's. It's SO IMPORTANT TO ME OKAY
ALSO this is an excuse to clip my favorite piece of dialogue possibly in the entire show. Except Netflix won't let me now. So you just get the text dialogue
Tumblr media
Jay's just fallen from the sky with a messed up eye and is incredibly distraught that all his friends are captured. And his dad just. The woRLD IS FALLING APART AND HE'S EATIN' SOUP-
Ed i love you
anyways
anways anyways this just turned into me rambling about prime empire and then Ed and Edna and a lot of disjointed other stuff but thank you for this opportunity i was going to also ramble about lloyd but i put this post in a word count and
Tumblr media
yea i think that's enough for a tumblr post anyways! If anyone wants any like. More logically thought out and direct thoughts about characters feel free to send me asks this was fun thank u @zaptrap for this opportunity to scream about jay

Dr pt2 spoiler warning
This was a fantastic set of episodes
• Kai and wyldfire are everything. Kai having to deal with someone who acts like he did in the earlier seasons is poetic justice and funny as hell.
• I also like how they kinda tried to explain why Kai seemed calm after sea bound and nyas seaifcation. I guess Kai meditating with wu would make him calmer. At least it confirms that Kai was upset (even if they didn’t show it)
•I am kinda upset that nothing from skybound was brought up with the Djinn. I personally don’t really like skybound but I still find that it could be used more than just oh yah that happened right wink wink. I mean we had to suffer through skybound for something right?
• I actually really liked sora and nyas whole plot with the Djinns curse. It was fun and had a nice conclusion.
• Coles return is great I love his little gang in the land of forgotten things. My favorite has to be the skeleton girl (I forgot her name probably cuz they only say it like 2 times) she’s funny.
• I do wish there was a scene where nyas like btw I found Cole and the other ninja react. I mean she does mention it at the end but no one except Zane has any real reaction.
• Beatrix going off the rails was really funny. It felt like someone gave a teen with daddy issues an insta death weapon.
• rapton switching sides kinda came out of left field for me. Like the guy isn’t the brightest bulb in the box I think it would be more likely for other characters to switch sides. Also how did he recover from being tased so quickly? Man was out cold and not two minutes later he was up and walking around.
• kinda felt that the whole being sucked into non existence should have had more lasting effects (totally not because I want to traumatize or brutally injure Kai no why would I want that /s) tho fake out deaths are pretty par for the course with ninjago, this one actually didn’t make me feel all that much cuz I knew the moment wyldfire got pulled in that this was a fake out. They wouldn’t kill one of there new characters that quickly.
•so wus just legitimately fudging dead. Never thought we would see the day when this old mad would just peace out. Also ghost wu legit looks like he’s slowly loosing his form or something cuz in the first half he appears with his full body but in the last scene he’s in he’s just a chest and a head. It might have just been a stylistic thing tho.
•I’m not mad jay only showed up for around 30 seconds (this just might be my bias tho cuz jays probably the ninja I care the least about, not that I hate him or anything he’s just not that interesting to me) it’s kinda refreshing for me cuz nya gets to be her own character for a bit and not be completely attached to Jay and Jay gets to take up less screen time (if I am being honest Jay had so much focus in the wild brain seasons it kinda got annoying to me personally) idk if he’s actually lost his memories or if that leak is wrong cuz it would make sense cuz he has not searched for the ninja (specifically nya cuz that man is a simp for his gf) Arin missing him by a second is hilarious to me.
•not sure about how I feel about Lloyd being the linchpin for the entire thing. Part of me thinks that it would have fit the shows themes better if all of them used their elemental powers or something else to power the cores to fix everything. But another part of me understands that Lloyd get main character privileges cuz he’s the son of ninjago god.
•still kinda frustrated that they are changing how elemental powers work. Originally they were from the first spinjitzu master, but the whole source dragon being the source (for lack of a better word) of the elemental powers, it completely retcons and nerfs the first spinjitzu master. It would have made more sense if they still came from the powers of the fsm and were gifted through the source dragons to people.
•the implication of the cursed realm merging with the rest of the realms brings up the question if the departed realm merged to? Does that mean no one can die??? Or is there some sort of force that still keeps the departed realm separated from the rest (like how the people in the land of the forgotten can’t leave) or can some dude just wander in to the departed realm and see like there dead grandma chilling with the fsm having tea or some crap like that.
•Lloyd going I forgot there are two of them now towards Kai and wyldfires antics is peak writing. And all the arson and explosions the two created is just beautiful.
•I think the Kai and wyldfire duo should be called like the arsonist or the kaboom duo
•THE HUGGG!!!! My boi was so happy looking when the tackle hug was done.
•I just cant get my brain to shut up about these two. They give off tired dad who sometimes gives in to his old chaotic ways he’s sworn he’s grown out of and living embodiment of chaos and fun daughter who drags her dad into crazy things.
Tdlr I loved this second half and had a few issues with it but it was still really good.

Know this is random, but I have a theory about Sora: she was a D.
Like, the stuborness that her action means, being strong enough to drink poison when pregnant everyday during MONTHS and still being alive for 6 years, all the inconditional love she has for her kids, every single thing is like a D.
She did what she did knowing Judge could kill her, just bc she wanted her kids to be human.
And also? I don't believe her personality is actually all lovey-dovey. Maybe more like Sanji, still lovey-dovey but agressive if needed. She just acted 100% lovely bc it was her kid.
Now that I said the theory, now a au: single mom!Sora. She, while pergnant and after starting drink poison, takes Reiju and go away. Sora wants to kill her shitty husband but for now it's not possibly.
Sora starts to be a pirate after giving birth to her quadruplets, and the will of D. more the sword and gun skills make her strong. No one is able to catch her, bc the woman is smart and strategic.
Everything is fine, the 1234ji are all human and have emotions, Reiju is a smart girl and looks up to be like her mom. Until Judge kidnaps Sanji.
This makes Sora angry to the point she goes at Germa. And she finds her ex-husband, but there's no sign of her forth kid. Full of rage, Sora kills Judge, believing he killed one of her childs.
But Sanji had scaped and stoped at the rock, with Zeff. They starve until the day Sora and 0124ji finds them. After being saved by this women who is eggplant's mom and a pirate herself, he says that when Baratie opens, they're welcomed to come whenever they want.
Four years later, Sanji starts to work on the restaurant, under Uncle Zeff's care. Of course, his family sends letters and visit. With Sora being more and more strong and a bigger bounty every year. And a crew.
Then, when Sanji is 19, he meets a guy named Luffy and join his crew. Everything from the story happens until Marineford. Where Sora (a pirate with almost the strength of a Emperor of the Sea) go help WB, Ace and Luffy. She saves the three of them from dying and receives the title of Fifth Emperor of the Sea this day.
Of course, both Luffy and Ace notice this woman named Skylar D. Sora is identical to Sanji. And when they ask, she just says "Well, he's my kid. One of them."
She helps Rayleigh to train Luffy (bc she uses haki a lot + he's Sanji boyfriend), and after the TS, she + 0124ji go to see Sanji in the Strawhats reunion. Everyone surprised Sanji's mother is a Emperor.
(P.S.: also, I believe in this au Sanji would be normal about womans. And the Skylar D. is Sora and her kids lastname)
Amazing, so good. Judge does NOT understand the Will of D like Doffy does, that's for sure. Doffy hates it for a fucking reason and Sora is a stubborn bitch(loving) for a reason. She absolutely argues with Judge at every opportunity and chugs poison throughout BOTH her pregnancies. Then she just fucking leaves, she has to have Conqueror's haki as she makes her escape and just knocks everyone out and leaves with her sleeping toddler. So she leaves, still chugging poison and makes her escape and starts a pirate crew.
She gets a crew that she believes will help her and her kids after she gives birth, and they do, her crew is GREAT okay? Her crew is full of people who care about her and the kids. She's terrifying, absolutely terrifying and has earned A LOT of respect from the crews on the seas but also White Beard specifically. He's like their adopted grandpa and some of their first allies. They do not sail under him and Sora has made it VERY CLEAR she never wants to date again. She is all about her kids and piracy, she has done a full 180 of nobility and is so fucking pumped to fuck up the government and so are her kids and crew. She has gone full anarchisticly feral. She is so lovely to her crew and she puts up that lovey dovey front which lulls people and other pirates into a false sense of security. Then they see her shoot her guns or swing her swords or use her haki and she's terrifying god. GOD.
Her kids all grow up human and using training with swords and guns and using haki, a necessity in the New World and Grand Line. It's going great, they've all learned code, even Sora because she doesn't half ass things so she studied it and uses it as much as she can and learns from other older pirates. Then Sanji gets kidnapped while he's out with the cook and another crew member to get supplies. He's gone. They can't find him. Sora is pissed and 124ji are crying the set is broken because they've almost always been together, if you count them going with different people on the crew who specify in their interests to get supplies as breaking the set, so they're distraught. Sora immediately sets course for Germa and goes off after them. She will get her son back come Hell or high water. He's crossed her once with what he's done and now Germa will be sunk. Germa sails fast and they're self-sufficient so it feels like they can never catch up. It's a fruitless chase for a while until they find Germa.
But they don't find Sanji. Sora is pinning Judge to the ground by his haki demanding where her son is and Judge tells her that Sanji is dead. Sora takes Judges own sword and beheads him. She leaves and they sink all of Germa and her kids and crew see her come back. Furious and distraught as she orders the sinking of Germa, her hands empty except for swords. They follow the orders given and let the tears fall as they do. Sora explains everything Judge said in her Captain voice which is a lot like mom voice but far more intimidating to everyone. They do what they would for a funeral service and it just...hurts. The set is broken, her son is dead, the crew has lost a member. It's horrific. He's dead.
He's not, he's on a cruiseship cooking for his keep, he does enough for his bed and sometimes for food, more often than not eating half eaten garbage because i have to hurt baby lemon. I have to. He's already been starved in the dungeon and upon his escape having to go to work on a cruise ship to live. It's not like with his mom or his crew and he wants to go home. To the boat where he shares a room with his brothers, it's like a closet but it has four hammocks in it and Sanji and Niji would be on one side and Ichiji and Yonji would be on the other. He stays quiet and out of the way until the ship is boarded by pirates sometime later. Sanji will not die, he will find the All Blue and says so to the pirate. Then he's stuck on a rock with the geezer who was going to kill him. They'll be lucky if they make it off alive, even luckier if unscathed. So they wait, starving and dehydrated. Until they see a ship, finally, eighty-five days later sailing straight towards them. Sanji edges closer to the edge and yells for help until the jolly roger comes into view and is clear, then he starts crying and absolutely screaming 'MAMA' at the top of his lungs to Zeff's surprise. This kid, this absolutely shitty brat is Skylar D. Sora's kid? He's a fucking D? No, no Zeff's not going to think about that as they're rescued and taken to the infirmary aboard the ship. They make a deal about eating at Baratie whenever they're in the East Blue and if/when Sanji decides he will come work at Baratie and Zeff agrees. In exchange Zeff is taken care of and left with a decent sum of money to continue his care and start Baratie. It's wild. Zeff makes the eggplant promise to be good when he leaves. Sanji glares because he hates the name. Now everyone is using it. He's going to kill the old guy. DOESN'T MATTER HE'S THEIR UNCLE! NO! THEY ALREADY HAVE A TON THANKS TO GRANDPA WHITEBEARD! MAMA~!
Sanji goes to fully work there at like 14/15 and Zeff and learns a lot more, the kids been a pirate most of his life, save for his work on the Orbit and his mother is in the New World. He sends letters to his family and they send them back and Sanji is just happy to still be his mother's son. Then he joins the Strawhat Pirates and starts dating the captain and he's sending letters and no one recognizes him and his poster is awful. He doesn't mind though, his bounty raises quickly and it's not up to his siblings level yet, soon it will be. He knows that. He's also just the cook apparently. Sure he doesn't fight with his hands anymore but give him a gun sometime! It's good fun, Usopp! Promise! PROMISE!!
But then Sabaody happens and Luffy is separated not only from his crew but also his boyfriend and his brother is going to be executed so he makes his way to Impel Down and then to Marineford in order to try to save him. He has to try. He has to get to his brother. So he escapes with everyone from the Impel Down team and watches the start of the execution. Then the war starts as the White Beard fleet attacks. It's big and loud and terrifying but Luffy is making his to the execution platform and Sora and her crew show up, immediately joining the fray as Sora joins White Beard and smiles lightly as they join the fight. Of course the tides start turning when Teach starts fighting White Beard and and Ace goes back to fight, against what everyone has yelled at him for. Then Akainu punches Ace in the back and then Luffy lets out that wave of haki The hit didn't kill him because Yonji pushed them out of the wave, just full speared the brothers after the first gracing of skin and lava. The brothers are out of it as Jinbei comes to get them and he looks at the blond who shoos him away with them, yelling at him to get them away. Save them.
So Jinbei starts running and then lava graces his shoulder and hits Luffy in the chest as he boards the Polar Tang because Law says they're too interesting to die. Sora and White Beard are fighting Teach. Then Shanks shows up and ends the war, Sora of course is glaring at him as the crews and marines start collecting their dead and wounded. Sora has a half a mind to go yell at him, then again, she's a D so she walks up to him with a cold look. They stare at each other with hardened eyes before Sora shoves past him to make arrangements with the White Beard fleet to meet and discuss the next steps. Sora takes Luffy to meet with Rayleigh after and then they train him. Luffy is distraught about his crew and Ace being touch and go and not being able to be there. Sora is entrusting her crew to her first mate and her kids to go take care of her territory and the startings of the fleet she is amassing. When Ace comes to visit, like a year later, still rehabbing because that punch was nasty, he has Marco and White Beard with him because those two want to talk to Sora. Ace however is looking at Sora and points at her and asks Luffy if his boyfriend turned into a forty something year old woman, Marco immediately punches Ace as Sora and Whitebeard lose it. Sora explains Sanji is her child, her forth one and the second youngest. White Beard asks where he is and Sora says he's missing. Again. It's not the first time, hopefully it's the last but she doesn't count on it. White Beard is laughing harder as Sora explains it and is just thankful Sanji's a D and was raised a pirate so he should be fine. This is a lot for Ace and Luffy, not the D part but just everything else. It makes a lot of sense though so Luffy shrugs and says cool. Sanji looks like his mom.
Then Luffy leaves to go help Hancock so when the Strawhat crew is reuniting everyone is staring at this emperor of the sea and her four kids who all look like Sanji, except with different hair and one's a girl. She is hounding Sanji about Code who is assuring her he still follows it and keeps calling her 'Mama' and Zoro finally asks who the fuck she is outside of Sanji's mom and why people are paying her a lot of respect. Nami immediately yelling at him that's Captain Skylar D. Sora, Emperor of the Sea, and apparently Sanji's mom. She helped at Marineford.

My Dragons Rising season 2 part 2 predictions (None of which will prolly be true but it's still fun to speculate)
An Arin villain arc is upon us? I don't think it'll be like Arin goes full on evil but uses those wolf masks as a shortcut to improving
It's time! Please make Geo x Cole canon!! With Doc confirming that the Source dragon of life is non-binary and Bonzle is trans, they're definitely allowing queer characters in the show, so please, make them canon.
Euphrasia finally joins the main team? Please, that'd be awesome!! She could be like Zane or Cole's student?
I don't think Wu will return, I'm not sure Wu will return in any season of DR at all. He works so much better as a character haunting the narrative now that his students are mentors in their own right. If he'd return from whatever state he's in right now, I wonder what he could even do as a character?
I also don't think Jay is rejoining the ninja this season. He might go rogue from the administration but I don't think he's gonna regain his memories this season.
Kai isn't gonna stay trapped in nether-space forever. I know we have new writers but with ninjago I just have this bias that every Protagonist isn't gonna stay dead (or functionally dead like with Nya at the end of Seabound or Kai right now in nether space). Like I don't imagine they'd just practically kill off Kai when he just had such a great bond and arc with Wyldfyre. He'll definitely return from Nether-space before the end of this season.
Some more cool dragon designs. Not based on anything, I just want to see more dragons. Rontu and Egalt were awesome and I crave more
Maybe some more about Lloyd Dragon heritage cause I feel like that was largely ignored this season? Doc said on Twitter that that wasn't retconned, so hopefully it's at least mentioned.
Wyldfyre learns spinjitzu 🙏🙏
Jordana is possessed by one of the forbidden five. I have no idea what this'll mean for the rest of the season but maybe they'll finally remember her name?
Beatrix returns? I need my bbg back dragons rising. She was in Lloyd's visions, so there's something up with her, right?
Maybe she'll try to retake Emperium along with the people there who still stand by her.
Nya and Lloyd fight against Nokt? I want more duo fights with them.
There'll probably be more cameos of side characters from the original show.
Arin and Sora will have an argument. I feel like that's what they're setting up at the start of this season but idk
Might edit this post and add some more as the thoughts arrive

Would you like to share anything from or about your Ventus (& Strelitzia) fic ?
Sure, I’m in the midst of rewriting it right now (doing that technique where you write it again but only the parts you remember) and the original fic was never finished but I can give some snippets.
Untitled “everyone thinks Ventus has a crush on Strelitzia but he actually can’t stop thinking about her because he killed her” WIP below the cut
Sora had finally made it back. After a whole year of searching, Riku was able to guide him back to the Realm of Light. Ven, like the rest of them, was smiling so wide his cheeks hurt.
The thing was, they weren’t alone.
A girl stepped out of the portal behind them. She wore a white dress and red bows in her hair. Something in his heart itched.
She scanned the people surrounding her, giving everyone a glance. Then her eyes landed on Ven. And on Ven her eyes stayed, alight with fear.
Ven’s stomach sank with familiarity. His breathing quickened. The itch turned to a jackhammer, rattling his core.
He took a step back. Then another. Then another.
It’s her.
Who’s her?
He broke eye contact.
“Are you alright?” Xion looked up at him with earnesty.
Through the fading dread, Ven managed a shaky grin and a nod. The girl’s brow furrowed but, thankfully, she didn’t push. He wondered if he and Roxas made similar faces when they lied.
“Come on, introduce yourself,”
“H-hello, I’m Strelitzia”.
Strelitzia.
The name rang in his head like bells. A cacophony just like the end. Like a new beginning.
It’s all my fault.
What is?
“Aren’t you going to say hi, Ven?” Aqua asked, concern not even hidden as she passed by.
Everyone seemed to be introducing themselves now. Strelitzia looked a little overwhelmed by all the attention.
“Uh, maybe… I don’t want to be rude but she, uh… makes me feel” he grappled for a word, “weird”.
“Weird?”
He wasn’t sure that was a good enough word.
“Nervous?”
That didn’t feel right either.
Aqua paused for a moment, Ven could see the gears turning in her head.
“Alright”
———
And then here’s a couple of scenes from the older version
———
(This is a scene that takes place after poor Ven digs himself deeper into a hole lol)
Terra and Aqua shared a knowing look and big amused smiles.
“Wha-? What’s that look for?”
“It's just cute”
“Huh?”
“You like her, don’t you?”
“I-I guess,” why is this important? “She seems nice, bu-” He paused mid sentence when he realized his friends’ smiles were growing even wider, “wait. You mean-” his cheeks were on fire in an instant, hands flying to cover his face, “Ahh! No! Gross guys”.
“You are around that age,” “Past it even”.
“Lalala! Not listening,”
“‘I can’t stop thinking about her’,”
“Guys, seriously, stop. It’s not a crush!” His confidence faltered, “At least… I-I don’t think it is”.
Maybe crushes did feel this way. He wouldn’t know, he’d never had one. But if they were supposed to feel like this he couldn’t imagine why anyone would want the feeling. It was just so... so suffocating.
———
“Kairi?”
“Hm?” The girl turned her head and eyed him expectantly.
Ven’s mouth suddenly felt like a desert. Was he really going to ask this? Was he even close enough with her to ask this? It’s a personal question. Maybe he shouldn’t bother.
No. He- He had to know.
He steeled his nerves and the question fell from his mouth, “do you have a- a crush on someone?”
The other wielder blinked in surprise and awkwardly, almost sympathetically replied, “Uh, yes, I do… why”
Ven felt so incredibly sheepish. In a voice barely louder than a whisper he asked, “What does it feel like?”
“Oh,” Something that resembled relief flashed in her expression, leaving Ven to wonder what she thought he was going to say, “(she’s supposed to describe it here but I don’t know how and I felt too awkward to ask someone lol)”
“So you don’t feel sick?”
“Feel sick?”
“That’s how I feel around Strelitzia…” “Aqua and Terra think I have a crush on her but-”
“But you aren’t sure”.
Ven shook his head
“Well, everyone’s different, but that doesn’t sound like a crush to me”

What do you think of Sora Siruha character? Before this chapter, i thought Ishida seems wants us to think of her character as a tragic hero and a character that is fallen after leaving yamato mori, but then he drop a chapter where she committed genocide when she was still in yamato mori, so i wonder what do you think of her character?
Tumblr media
Sora Siruha is an interesting character because Nietzsche would have hated her. Yet she's still seen as morally ambiguous by both characters in her own story and members of the audience. Not that you're wrong to see her that way but Nietzsche sure did hate it was religion. So, perhaps the literal nun, with angel wings, with cross tattoos, and a black halo that doubles as a crown or thorns might be a bad guy in the Nietzsche manga.
That's not to say that she's irredeemably evil, it's just ironic the Choujin X of her generation named after the "ubermensch" represents the antithesis of a lot of Nietzsche's ideas.
Nietzsche famously called Religion the opium of the masses. in Nietzsche's view suffering was not only good but necessary to life, because it aspired people to grow and anything that promised avoidance of suffering alcohol and religion for instance stagnated growth instead of promoting it.
Religious suffering is at the same time an expression of real suffering and a protest against real suffering. Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the sentiment of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people.
So, it's not coincidence in the Nietzsche manga that Sora who has so many religious associations tied to her is also, an opium addict who cannot survive without it's pain numbing effects.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If by Nietzschian philosophy pain is a part of the human experience, then by losing her pain, Sora Siruha also lost her humanity which is heavily implied to be part of the cause of her mental spiral.
One other thing associated with Sora is that she uses what are primarily utilitarian views to justify her atrocities - something else that Nietzsche hated as a philosophy.
So Sora believing that her future visions will come to pass goes on to committ atrocities in order to avoid even greater atrocities. Let's say that her visions are in fact one hundred percent correct. That Sora killing 200,000 people would avert the deaths of 2,000,000 or more.
Sora's reasoning in this case is purely utilitarian.
Utilitarianism actions are morally permissible if: They produce at least as much or more net happiness as any other available action. Everything should strive for a balance of happiness over suffering.
By Utilitarian reasoning her actions are morally permissible. Sora herself does not want to kill Anitise, she takes no joy in it, but she believes like any utilitarian she's responsible for bringing the most happiness over suffering to the world.
Tumblr media
However, even if Sora's vision was 100% correct and by pulling the lever on the trolley problem and killing 200,000 she saved 2,000,000 Nietzsche would still have a bone to pick with her moral reasoning.
Nietzsche famously hated Utilitarianism. because it ignore the value of suffering, which strengthens the man. He saw that doing every and all actions for the sake of the "greater good" was something that denied the individual and discouraged individual development.
Nietzsche's criticism is that value is not something that can be quantified or proven. You can't mathematically measure in an objective sense, the suffering caused by your actions, the benefits caused by your actions. There's no universally agreed upon value for human life.
What is the "unit" of one human life?
Why are the 2,000,000 people that Sora saved more worthy of life than the 200,000 that she killed. What justification can Sora have other than "that's a smaller number." A person among the 200,000 killed could have grown up to cure cancer. Of course, even if the 200,000 weren't especially talented people, even if they were all going to grow up to work at mcdonalds why are there lives inherently worth less than the 2,000,000 that sora decided to save?
Sora is not a nihilist, she is a pure-hearted utilitarian who's actions are taken to give pleasure to as many people as possible but one more obvious criticism of her moral reasoning in choosing to sacrifice the few to save the many is that she is not an unbiased judge of values.
For example, if Anitise really did become a mad king then who would his victims have been? If he invaded Yamato Mori and killed 2,000,000 then why are the 2,000,000 lives of the Yamato Mori citizens he killed worth more than the 200,000 people that Sora killed preventing his invasion? It would be because being a citizen of and responsible for Yamato Mori Sora is unconsciously biased to put her own nation above Anitise's kingdom. In that sense, she's not really acting for the greater good, but rather the national interests of her country but she's still posing herself as a savior figure.
Tumblr media
Sora goes on to commit these atrocities, while also continuing to see herself as a savior and believing she's operating from a higher moral viewpoint than everyone else. Yet, you can easily point out where her biases are as I just did.
In addition to the fact that we have no way of knowing if Sora's visions of the future actually are true. The fact that there are two people with future seeing powers (three if you count Tokio's dreams) who can see different things then points to the fact that Sora's visions aren't 100% true. However, even if you give her the benefit of the doubt that her prophecies were going to come true if she didn't do something, you can still make moral arguments against her actions as I just did above this section.
Sora is also extremely biased in other ways. In her origin story, she saw a vision of Queem coming to burn her convent, and was unable to stop it from happening. This clearly has affected her for all of her life, as even when presented with direct evidence that her prophetic dreams might not be true (such as another seer who disagrees with her) Sora doesn't even consider that possibility or hesitate to commit atrocities, because she's still guided by her guilt over being unable to stop her convent from being burnt.
In Tokyo Ghoul, Yoshimura once theorizes that Ghouls and Humans are psychologically the same, but because Ghouls live violent lives they eventually lose their empathy and stop seeing any value in human life as a coping mechanism.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think Sora's slow corruption makes sense through this lens, not because of her future visions but rather because of the amount of power she had.
Choujin e aren't any different from human psychologically, they experience human emotions, but convince themselves they are different because one they're prone to get in more violent situations, and two the power they wield leads to them developing superiority complexes.
Sora plunged herself into war and had to walk on too many corpses in order to get stronger and gain the strength to fight Queem, but it's clear she didn't stop there after Queem was defeated. After Queem died Sora became the war-monger, and why? Her visions provide us one reason, but like, Sora didn't consider alternative means like diplomacy or warning anitise of what she saw? She just jumped straight to launching a modern day crusade against a foreign country, why?
Was it just easier for her to consider a military invasion because after having been through the hell of war, 200,000 became just another statistic to her?
Tumblr media
What other reason than she had the power to do so, and Sora's superiority complex told her she had the right to wield that power however she chose to do so.
Sora and her savior complex, provides an uncanny mirror to Queem and his choujin and his choujin supremacy doctrine. Sora may have believed herself invading Antoland in order to prevent a future disaster, but when has a foreign country invading a soveriegn territory "for their own good' ever historically been a good thing. Sora may not have preached choujin supremacy but her actions don't make her too much different from Queem in the end.
Then, there's the possibility that Sora's prophecies might not even be nearly as true or certain to happen as they think they are. One of the birds basically spells it out to Tokio, that humans wanting to know the future is just wishful thinking.
Tumblr media
Which puts Sora's absolute certainty in a new light. Is Sora's beliefs in her prophecies just a longing for control, the kind of absolute control over the future that nobody in the world but god is supposed to possess. Sora wanting to take God's place in knowing the future and being able to control her destiny goes all kinds of wrong.
I'm reminded of Attack on Titan where Eren coming into contact with the paths and being able to see the past, present and future at the same time doesn't give him godlike power, but reduces him to a helpless child. Eren's ability to see the future ends up bringing into existence similiarly to Sora, a future where he's the one comitting the atrocities.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There's also Paul Atreides from Dune who is given the power to see the future, and despite knowing and feeling guilt for a long time that some of his actions might lead to him releasing a holy war against the galaxy and killing billion, goes on to follow the future timeline he saw where he caused those atrocities anyway.
The absolute godlike power to know the future for all three of these characters Sora, Eren and Paul actually leads to them committing atrocities, not averting them as they'd hoped.
Yet, there's the tragic element of the fact she was just sixteen when this destiny was thrust upon her.
In Tokyo Ghoul Eto once referred togod as a child with extraordinary power to justify the world being as messed up as it is. Doesn't this fit Sora Shihouin as well? A child given way too much power and suddenly thrust into a leadership position?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In that way Sora reminds me tragically of X-Men characters like Jean Grey, if someone is given the power to see the future, or the insane powers of the phoenix that Jean Grey was given would they really have the moral fiber not to abuse that power? Can anyone wield that much power and not be corrupted by it?

I wanna see Reiju x Tashigi headcanons from you! I actually think they are pretty cute, the Princess of Germa falling in love for a pretty marine woman
I think they're pretty cute too!! I love them!! That color spread rewired everybody's brains, I think 🩷🤍🧡
I am so so so weak for princesses falling for people they shouldn't. Reiju is the perfect golden daughter, mostly to avoid issues with her dad and because she settles with her position as a Germa member instead of looking for what she wants. And she's fine with that. She's ""mature enough"" to know that as the oldest she should be the one taking care of her (even if awful) brothers.
I mentioned this in another post but the thought of Reiju knowing she's a lesbian but never acting upon those feelings and setting them aside because she's a warrior and a woman and I am so sure Judge has the "you have to give birth to my grandchildren" mentality. And tbh she doesn't really want to have children because she feels she will never be able to be like Sora and is afraid she might end up hurting them if she raises them in that environment. But little tiny headcanon (that will be important later for Tashigi) Reiju finds out she actually can't have children after all the modifications and Judge blames her and she actually has an awful time because maybe she did want children. At least she wanted to choose. Whatever.
As to how they meet, I am not that sure. But it isn't that weird that the marines go to the Germa kingdom. Judge probably suborns all of them, ngl. Not Tashigi, though, of course. But it's not like she can do anything about what Judge does yet. But to go directly to the headcanons, yadda yadda yadda Judge makes Reiju talk with Tashigi yadda yadda yadda it's noticeable she's trying hard to force Tashigi to get out of there before anything happens to her even if she's just constantly teasing and threatening her. Typical "I know you're only threatening me because your father told you, you can get out of here with me" vs "I am fine here, this is my true nature (nope) and you should go before I have to kill you".
I actually really want them to have a whole night for themselves and fall for each other kind of right away? Not really right away but there is something between them and they can feel it. And maybe in the future Reiju can sneak out during her missions to see Tashigi and be a little bit annoying (because she misses her and wants to see how she's doing but won't stop teasing her) while Tashigi tries to make her open up and convince her to escape with her and just... Turn in her family. But Reiju has this mentality of "if I turn them in you have to capture me too because we're the same" and also her oldest sister feelings.
So they have this back and forth relationship in which Reiju won't stop teasing and sometimes opening up and Tashigi won't stop discovering and seeing more and more about her. While Reiju starts falling in love (something she was never allowed to do and still feels like she shouldn't be doing) when she sees Tashigi's kindness (kind of resembling Sora's) and Tashigi just knows Reiju has that kindness within her too. Going back to the children again, at some point Reiju meets the Punk Hazard children being with Tashigi and she just looks so nurturing and sweet with them and Tashigi can't help but just knowing she has a good heart.
And it's also the perfect moment to mention Sanji (without actually saying his name). It's just Reiju saying she misses him and Tashigi seriously thinks at first that she's talking about him like that because he died, but she can see on Reiju's eyes that there is more to that.
I really want to get into simple, generic headcanons now so:
Reiju is always taking off and stealing Tashigi's glasses because it's just fun for her to see her fall and catch her
Reiju sees Tashigi fight/on serious mode and it honestly makes her feel things she has never felt before
Tashigi thinks Reiju is extremely experienced when it comes to dating and sex because look at her but she actually has never been with a woman because she has only had to use her seduction on men. So they're both equally nervous even if it isn't that noticeable on Reiju
Reiju finds so admirable of Tashigi that she goes all the way to fight for what she thinks is right and wishes she could do the same. But she's constantly trapped on the "I'm a Vinsmoke" mindset
Tashigi takes care of her and erases that mindset at some point with so so much comfort and gentleness Reiju has never felt before (I think Reiju deserves to cry and be vulnerable too btw)
Constantly teasing each other and it's so much fun when Reiju wants to be the most flirty and Tashigi ends up flirting back and damn she was not expecting that but she likes it
AGHHH I can't stop thinking about Reiju just admitting and accepting she'll have to get married at some point to a man and Tashigi being so furious about it. Imagine these two dating in secret for a while and just-- Tashigi promising they'll be together and get married or whatever and Reiju letting herself dream for a while about it
"I love you" / "It'll pass" or something like this
Again with the dangerously yours quotes but the whole "If I betray you, I betray myself. If I betray them, I betray my family. My brothers are very dear to me" / "Dearer than I?" feels like something they'd go through
This got angsty- Just imagine Reiju like "Nooo this food was definitely poisoned so sad mmm I will have to kiss you now I guess!!" and it's just an excuse to make out with Tashigi but Tashigi is actually freaking out until she realizes she's just flirting
Tashigi rambles SO MUCH about swords and Reiju loves every second of it because she looks so genuine and excited...
And Reiju actually does listen to everything Tashigi has to say and Tashigi has never felt so appreciated...
Smoker knows his girl is in love but he does not want to know shit about it so he pretends he doesn't know about Tashigi and Reiju's calls in the middle of the night. But Tashigi does look happier and more inclined to work even harder so that is a win for him
Suddenly Tashigi knows a lot about poisons and she says some fun fact about them and Smoker goes "??? Since when are you so into this??" and she gets all nervous and anxious and says she read it in a book
Same with Reiju. Her brothers see her happier and want to tease her about it and her secret but she has been more gentle and motherly to them so... They've been acting softer... Kind of. For some reason they like seeing her happy and they're still trying to figure out why
I honestly think Ichiji is the only one who actually knows about the whole thing but doesn't say anything about it as long as it doesn't affect them
Reiju likes dressing up Tashigi with her dresses because she likes seeing her I classy clothes (and then taking them off but that's another story)
Same thing with Tashigi btw she likes seeing Reiju with her hair messed up and just t-shirts because she barely sees her in a genuine, comforting way
I actually do have more ideas about them because they're making me go insane but... I think this is enough for this post. They're so,,, Cute,,, And I adore them. Let Reiju be free please please please 🫶🏻 So she can date her beautiful, nerd, marine girl 🩷🩷

Chapter Summary: As rumors about the lost prince reach Xehanort, he plans to snuff this alleged imposter out. Meanwhile, others are much more hopeful at the possibility of Prince Sora's survival... Not many knew what went on in the Organization’s sinister stronghold. Its floating towers were all but inaccessible to outsiders, and only those connected to the king and his magic could open up dark gateways to get inside. The common folk often speculated about how the elite lived; they imagined nightly parties, wicked affairs where Xehanort and his followers would watch prisoners be tortured and killed for their own sadistic pleasure. They imagined bountiful food and drink and riches, the kind anyone outside of the castle’s walls hadn’t seen since before the fall. They imagined a group that used their authority over the people below to live in lawless luxury, safe and secure in their ivory towers above.  The truth, however, wasn’t quite what they imagined.  While it was true that the Organization members had plenty to eat and all of the power over the people Xehanort could promise them, they stuck to surprisingly rigid routines. Most of their days were spent on patrol throughout the islands, enforcing their king’s laws and ensuring anyone who didn’t follow them were punished accordingly. Whenever they were all gathered at the castle, it was usually for their weekly council meetings. Much like the one they were congregating for today.

SDRA Boys reaction to finding out Kanade killed there Fem S/O because she is best friend with Hibiki which resulted in Kanade cutting up S/O gruesomely like she did to Setsuka in the canon Game
Damn, fellow angst fan!
You didn't specify if Hibiki committed the murder too, so I included how they would interact with her after the trial knowing what her sister did-
Yuki Maeda:
When he sees your body at first, he's in complete shock
He wants to look away, but his eyes won't budge
It isn't until Shinji and Sora say his name a few times when the dam breaks
He's horrified, sad, angry, and full of grief all at once
He throws up during the investigation, and can't go near the body
There's no point, since it's already burned into his mind
He's quiet and crying during the trial, barely even blinking and ignoring anyone who tried to help
Sora tells him if he wants to get justice for you, then he must work with everyone
"...huh...What the hell do you know? About me? About Y/n? She's dead. I don't care anymore."
Yuki goes blank. Even void is a little worried, isn't it a bit soon for Utsuro to come out?
Anytime he sees Hibiki, he feels his stomach drop, the image of your body appearing fresh in his mind
He doesn't want to hate her, as she's just as much of a victim as you were, but her resemblance to Kanade makes him mistake her sometimes
Teruya Otori:
He slams his fist down on the podium in grief and anger, his eyes beginning to swirl in despair.
Why was this happening to him again? It was really all because you befriended the wrong person? Why did you have to die? Why couldn't it have been him!?
He thinks back to all the moments he had with you. Sun gazing, cuddling, your first kiss... he'd never see you again, he promised he would protect you and he failed again. Why was he such a failure?
He didn't want to give into despair, he really didn't, but sitting idly while everyone you loved died a horrible death made him wonder if hope really did exist
He stays in your dorm for a while, but definitely keeps a closer eye on everyone
If Hibiki didn't die, he couldn't bring himself to resent her, just her criminal scum of a sister
He has to keep the others safe and put an end to the killing game. He's well aware that he's not smart, if he was, he would have been able to save you
But he's strong. He's pushed himself past his limits before and he's not afraid to do it now.
He’ll protect everyone because it's what you would have wanted
That's the only thought keeping him sane
Shinji Kasai:
Also in shock when he sees your body
You were....there...(and there, and there-)
He’s seen a lot of gruesome sights of people who had terrible burns (Including himself, which you always reassured him over) but this was…
He starts to cry right there, as Yuki and Sora rush to comfort him
He can’t bring himself to investigate your corpse or your room, instead talking to everyone about their alibis
This whole time, he was saying that the people in void were friends and probably had some kind of reason for doing this, but…
He’s not sure anymore.
What kind of monster would put you through something so horrid?
When he finds out that it’s Kanade, he nearly breaks his podium
He’d never hit a girl, even if she is a literal demon spawn, but he’ll still yell at her for what she did to you
He can’t forgive her, turning his back on her and not even bothering to watch the execution
He stayed in his room for a few days, barely opening the door to anyone except Yuki
He is actually nicer to Hibiki, and even helps train and comfort her with all she’s been through
but there’s there a part of him that can’t help but think about what would’ve happen if he done this sooner, if he would have met your fate
The thought makes his stomach churn
Hajime Makunouchi:
Falls to his knees upon seeing the body
He nearly vomits at the way the face on your decapitated head was twisted in terror and your limbs were contorted as if you were nothing more than a doll
Hajime doesn’t feel angry, he just feels… sad.
Abandoned…once again.
He finds himself sobbing, unable to stop
He just felt so alone, but he told himself not to blame you, you hadn’t left him, not on purpose
He can’t investigate… he just can’t…
Ironic, that the strongest person in the class never felt so weak
Another part of him feels guilty, of all those times he talked you into training, into eating healthier foods… what was the point of all that when you were going to die so young?
He can’t say anything to Kanade, he can just glare at her through his sunglasses, his void eyes coming to life
He watches her execution, but he can’t bring himself to smile or feel happy
It just makes him feel….empty
He actively avoids Hibiki, but he’ll try not to treat her any differently
He confronts Nikei about turning against Mikado
Syobai Hashimoto:
Syobai wasn't attached to a lot and he rarely let anyone get close to him
But he made an exception for you
That's what you were, the exception
He was never loved by anyone in his life
Except you
He never cared about anything other than money and his own survival
Except you
He never fell in love with someone before
Except you
He never felt such sadness and grief when seeing a corpse
Except you.
The moment he saw your corpse, he felt a sharp pain in his chest, a pain unlike any he had felt before
Followed by a tsunami of emotions that were running wild
He forced them all down, much harder to do than ever and investigated your body
He found the culprit easily, charging Kanade with his knife almost immediately
She was quick but not quick enough, he left her within an inch of her life while Hibiki screamed and cried
He used his own medical knowledge to keep her alive for the trial, no matter how hard he wanted to end her right there
He smiled when she was voted, everyone understanding Syobai's actions
He doesn’t care about Kanade's backstory, he hates her for killing you, that's it
He won't hurt Hibiki, knowing Kanade would probably like that, but he glares at her anytime she's in the room with him
Yuri Kagarin:
He claimed it was a male the whole trial, only a male would be capable of doing this to you
When he found out it was sweet Kanade, his views shattered
"W-Why...?"  That’s all he can ask, and when she explains, he wishes he kept quiet
You were gruesomely murdered because of your kindness, and how you befriended and comforted a scared and paranoid girl
Kanade was a demon through and through who took pleasure causing pain in others
Only then did he realize what you were always trying to say, about all males not always being bad, funny how the message only got through when he learned the opposite
If Hibiki isn't executed alongside her, he wouldn't ever directly blame her for the person her sister was
But he'll never be able to look at her without thinking of the monster who killed you
Mikado Sannoji:
This wasn't supposed to happen.
That's the first thought that crosses his mind, out of everyone here, you were supposed to make it to the end
He'd think it was Nikei, being the only void who would dare to do this, but even Nikei is not that psychotic
This was someone that made him look like a saint
He contributes everything during the trial, ignoring when people tell him to be quiet
They don't get to tell him that, not after his S/o was dead
When he learns of Kanade, he feels angry, at both her and himself
He could have figured Kanade's past out if he had just dug a little deeper...
He lightly avoids Hibiki, but doesn't make much of an effort to push her away,
Not like anyone else besides you would ever willingly talk to him
Nikei Yomiuri:
God damn it...
Why?!
Rage. He can only feel raw unhindered rage when he sees your mutilated corpse
The whole trial, he thought Mikado was the only bastard messed up enough to do this, there's no way anyone in void would do this to him
To kill the one thing he had left
His leadership, his power, his luck (the whole reason he was pressured into creating this messed up game)
And now he lost you, the one thing he achieved without the use of his remaining luck
And now you were gone in one of the most messed up ways possible
He demands Kanade's reasons for doing this to you, and only feels more disgusted when he finds out
He hopes she burns in hell
He can't look at Hibiki without his void eyes flaring and his face being consumed by undeniable rage
He lashes out at her a few times, but he doesn't care
He uses the rest of the space in his notepad to write about you
He's not sure if your dead in the real world, but if you were, then he wanted some way for the world to know the kind of person you are
Because he knows for a fact that he's not making it out of here alive
He just hopes he can bring Mikado down with him

quiz: tragic play character — yiuno.
Tumblr media
Misunderstood Villain.
Prepare for an onslaught of both the most dehumanizing and hateful takes, and flood of thirst comments. You’re chronically misunderstood; whether or not you’re actually evil is debatable. You may be acting out for revenge, to defend someone you love, or even just to protect yourself—you’re a pretty jaded person. You don’t trust or even really like most people—perhaps you did, at one point, but that part of you is gone, and you don’t go a single day without grieving it. You think a lot about what your life could have been. You’re stuck in the past—you’re angry and maybe you don’t even want to be, but this is the only way you can see to survive. You’re open, but less in a trusting way and more like a wound. You don’t like to let people see you, but the hurt spills out of you before you can stop it. You’re impulsive, even as you try hard to plan and prepare. Maybe someday your side of the story will finally be heard. Until then, you can convince yourself that being hated is safer anyway.
(take the quiz here)
Tumblr media
Oh, wow. What an eerily accurate result.
Yiuno embodies many aspects of an anti-hero: be it common tropes (ex. Dark and Troubled Past), or tip the scales further into extremity (ex. Psycho for Hire and Femme Fatale), it’s really fun working on his characterization… as much as I struggle to comprehend his complex, multilayered nature.
I dunno if people see him as a misunderstood villain—guaranteed, this guy literally kills for a living, and he was a war criminal at one point (as a major participant during the Magi War in the Fifth Astral Era). His unique physical condition has twisted his perception of time, like he’s stuck in a psychological limbo akin to a living hell, for eternity. While the idea of eternal life has been explored many times in the game (both the MSQ and mostly the ARR side-quests), to an immortal like Yiuno, only death can bring him true peace.
Oh wait, sounds like Emet-Selch much? Not really—for one, Yiuno does not crave for the past (in fact, he wished he could erase it and start over again), and he doesn’t believe in utopia. While Emet tried to justify his genocidal acts as a “necessary ritual” to reclaim his lost paradise, Yiuno doesn’t even bother to sugar coat the war crimes he’d committed. Though Emet (in Shadowbringers, not Endwalker) did humor the idea of giving the current world a chance as he observed how WoL and the Scions tried to save the First, he never stopped to show outright contempt for the Sundered, calling them lesser beings unworthy of existing. Yiuno, however, never harbors any form of racism or social prejudice towards anyone—on one hand, he sees people as, well, just people; on the other hand, he may appear to be rather apathetic and detached (and hence why he could kill people as willingly as Emet, but for different reasons).
It also didn’t help that his childhood was equally fucked up. Born into a clan with an unconventional (and controversial) family system and societal rules, Yiuno grew up pretending to be a girl for many years just so that he could stay together with his twin sister for as long as possible. This twisted upbringing gave him a rather unique outlook to gender and sexuality—while he identify himself as biologically male and is very much aroace, mentally he feels disconnected and sees them as mere labels. It’s hard for me to explain in a way that people can understand, without radical folks jumping the gun and dissing me about “misrepresentation” and stuff, so I won’t go into details here. (If you want to know more, feel free to ask me in DMs!)
I guess the last line rings true—perhaps it’s easier to hate him for no reason at all. I mean, unless it’s his soulmate Y’shtola or the energetic curious child Sora, very few people have the patience and time to learn more about a walking history like Yiuno.
Tumblr media
Tagging some familiar names from my notifs lately: @uldahstreetrat, @starforger, @archaiclumina, @miqojak, @yloiseconeillants, and many, many more! (I apologize that I couldn’t list everyone—the truth is, my notif exploded since last night and I’m still in awe at that, lol.)
As usual, anyone is welcome to give this a try, and feel free tag me if you want me to read the results for your blorbos!

Hamefura theory :Who's the reincarnated ?
At first I will mention something I was thinking a long time ago about one of the character we didn't see much.
For start I think the mastermind is the reincarnated, he seemed to know how everything will happen, maybe because he knows about the game .
Sora's paternal figure :
Yes, the one who taught Sora how to write, count and read in the slums. I think some people are thinking that too but...What if he didn't die at that time ? I know he had a severe disease but maybe someone helped him at that time when Sora was caught by slaves traders. There are a lot of reasons why I think that :
He is quite handsome and well-written for someone who appeared only once in the serie
He was educated in a country where it is quite rare for people who aren't nobles. So I think he came from Sorcier.
We don't know anything about his background, nor what he was doing in the slums.
He gave Sora a japanese name, while it isn't the language in this world.
He seemed very smart and sharp so he could be the incredibly smart mastermind
He is quite similar to Catarina in their behaviors and words, maybe he was someone related to her in his previous life.
We were never told that he was dead, Sora just assumed he was. He never confirmed it.
Sora is the only one whose past has never been explored during the series, we only had a flash back about it. Which is strange because he is a capture target in fortune lover 2.
He was mentionned for the first time in a long time in the LN10 and LN12. That makes me think that we will see him again soon.
He is likely to be the same person as Larna's benefactor, maybe he used to live in Sorcier but because of some circumstances he had to move in an another country
I think the mission that Sora was doing during the LN13 may be related to the mastermind. And if that's the case, then he may have not told it to Catarina on purpose.
The way the mastermind behaves with Sarah, he is not cruel at all and seems to really care about her. Like that man was taking care of Sora in the slums
Another thing,
Even if the mastermind knows about Catarina's dark magic for a long time he never did anything that specially target her. So I don't think he wants to hurt her. Moreover, in LN13, "Marquis Dieke" didn't try to kidnap Maria or to kill her while retrieving Sarah, so I don't think SHE was the target. The timing was too good too, like the mastermind already knows that Catarina is reincarnated and that she remembers the events of the game. And with Sora who wasn't here for almost the whole volume, it's quite the strange coincidence.
I would modify the theory if we have any other information.

Chapter 9 Part 5: Lute and Vanessa <3
To start us off, Lute gets rid of this last reinforcement. After this, we can finally start moving up to the chests and Tana above, and to the boss room entrance down and to the right.
Tumblr media
Franz gets the Luna mage.
Tumblr media
I mentioned Luna's bad hit rates and 0 might before, but here we can see just how dire it is. 28 is awful hit, and since all the attack comes from the user's magic stat with no added might from the tome itself, it isn't even that dangerous in a low-level enemy's hands. Even if this guy actually did hit and crit Franz, he still wouldn't kill him.
Tumblr media
I start to move Vanessa forward, and...Oh! What's this? A support conversation?
...with Lute???
Tumblr media
So, some of you may have been able to guess from the very tiny and subtle clues I've dropped here and there, but I absolutely love Lute, so I'm actually going to look at this support a bit.
It starts off with Vanessa saying, "Ah, you're...Lute, right?"
I remember at least a couple of other Lute supports start off with the other person not being sure of what her name is. It's consistent enough a factor that we can guess that Lute doesn't really socialize a whole lot with people in the army. It's not surprising given her personality and her obsessive interest in specific things.
After introducing herself, Vanessa introduces her pegasus, Titania.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At which point, Vanessa has stumbled on one of Lute's interests: creatures.
So Lute proceeds to monopolize the conversation and info dump on Vanessa.
She starts by talking about the different names for pegasus. This part in Japanese involves her not only using the katakana, foreign-derived word "pegasus", but also two kanji-based words, "sky horse" and "has wings horse".
Kind of like how we often use Latin or Greek based words in English when we want to sound fancy, or for technical terms (due to the history of Europe's obsession with the Greeks and Romans often being viewed as the "initiators of European civilization") in Japanese there is a tendency for words made up of combined Chinese characters to sound more stiff, or like technical terms. In many cases, this is because these are literal loan words that Japanese educated people adopted into their language, sometimes a couple hundred-thousand years ago when China was viewed as a center of culture and learning.
I think a good example could be the word she uses for "sky horse". The two characters are jammed together, and usually in those cases, the "Chinese" reading is used, which is true here too, "Tenma". (Like I mentioned above, the "Chinese" reading is based on the pronunciation of the characters that some Japanese guy got from the Asian mainland at some point in history. Many kanji have multiple readings like this since there are many different Chinese languages in different areas of what's now China, languages also change over time, and of course, Japanese phonology is radically different from any Chinese phonology, so the pronunciations are more like approximations of how some group of Chinese people read the character at some point in time. If you look in a detailed kanji dictionary, it will often tell you the Chinese dynasty/ies in power at the time the character's reading(s) was/were adopted into Japanese.)
If this word were using "Japanese" readings of the characters, it would probably be "Sora no uma". Just based on feels, "Tenma" sounds a bit fancier and stiffer, whereas "Sora no uma" sounds very straightforward because the words "sora" (sky) and "uma" (horse) are used in everyday conversation, whereas the parts of "Tenma", "ten" and "ma" are not used on their own usually.
I explain all of this because it's interesting how it's coincidently very similar to something we can see in English too. Take a word like "autograph". It's two Greek words, "self" and "write" jammed together. These words aren't used on their own usually. (I mean, maybe this is a bad example since these two parts both are used on their own, but that's only because "auto" can be short for "automobile", and "graph" can also mean a table or chart. What I really mean is, we don't use "graph" as the word "write" in English on its own. No one says, "Please graph your name on this line here.") But these parts are frequently used to express meaning as parts of words.
Imagine how "self write" (both Germanic words) would sound in place of "autograph"? It sounds very basic, almost too straightforward. This same thing that we do in English all the time with Latin/Greek/Norman based words is similar to what they do in Japanese with the distinction between words with an "original Japanese" origin versus a "Chinese" origin.
In English, germanic words often sound straightforward and basic. In Japanese, Japanese origin words often sound more straightforward. In the same way, in English, words made up of Latin/Greek/Norman French parts often sound more educated or technical. And in Japanese, that's often the case for words made up of combined kanji using the "Chinese" readings.
----END INFO DUMP---
At any rate, now that I've info dumped at you, you may see why I like Lute so much.
Lute goes on to explain to Vanessa (who rides a pegasus literally every single day) how they fly by kicking the air, not by flapping their wings, and that their wings are used more for gliding.
To which Vanessa kindly responds that, yes, it would be really hard to ride them if they flapped their wings all the time.
She responds like this instead of, you know, getting all prickly about this random girl lecturing her about the animal she knows better than any other.
God bless you, Vanessa. You're a saint.
Lute also continues to talk about the origin of the word "pegasus" and its connections to "springs" and "oceans", and basically, go look at Wikipedia if you want to see the rest of what she said. :)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Vanessa continues to be an absolute sweety and says, "Thank you for the very clear introduction. I'm glad we're allies."
Tumblr media
And then Lute says, "I look forward to working with you, Titania!"
Vanessa: "I'm Vanessa!"
Like a lot of people, I've jumped on the Dungeon Meshi bandwagon recently, and it's hard not to get flavors of Laius from Lute.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At any rate, the original reason I moved Vanessa there was to block the soldier from hitting Lute, and Vanessa does an admirable job of that during enemy phase.
Tumblr media
I also discover that there is another guy with a sleep staff in the throne room. He misses Vanessa though.
You can see how low his hit is on her, with her good res.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's this guy, here.
Tumblr media
I start sending people up to deal with the enemies around the chests and Tana. I leave Vanessa in range of the mercenary, and Ephraim in range of the armor, though it later on turns out that that guy doesn't move.
Tumblr media
Next time: More reinforcements, more sleep staff nonsense, and maybe we'll finally save Tana

It is Once Again Time To Complain About Things That Don't Matter
Tumblr media
358/2 days is definitely one of the better written kh games, but don't let that fool you. its not like the bar was very high to begin with (i am only partially joking).
i love days, but there is so much wasted time and space in that game. i despise how much characters fainting, falling asleep, having amnesia, and gotdamn brainblasts, are constantly used as plot devices because the writers don't know how to organically move characters along to the next plot point(this goes for all of kh, not even just days). the entire novelty of days is getting to play on the bad guy's side while getting an intimate look at all the cool badass org members, and yet you hardly get to know any of them over the course of the game. barely any time is taken to flesh them out, which is a complete travesty btw, and even axel- who is one of the major supporting characters- ultimately takes a backseat to roxas and xion's emotional angst. its good emotional angst, but theres no reason for it to overwhelm the entire game. and honestly, even roxas himself takes a backseat to xion's even bigger emotional angst! roxas hardly gets to know who or what he is, whats going on, or what for. roxas is a complete passenger, and as time goes on i struggle to see the value in that, even if it does feed into the overall themes of his story and his own emotional angst.
Tumblr media
because, look: xion was a passenger as well; she had no choice in her situation, only the illusion of one that riku offered her. and yet, she still was allowed a moment of agency. roxas tried to do the same after xion's death by going to kill the organization(which frankly, he could've killed every last one of them- get real), riku stops him and refuses to explain or reason with roxas to get him to consider another way. riku just proceeds to taunt him. whwhy i find it hilarious that riku took pity on xion because she reminded him of kairi, but the guy who's literally his best friend's nobody whom he is currently fighting to save-... he acts like a bitch to, and refuses to give him any of the same consideration that he gave to the girl. what the fuck is that
what is with the complete and utter disrespect of roxas in his own game- >>specifically<< by the people who should be his allies. remember that bit at the end of days where roxas is about to leave and confronts axel for answers, and practically pours his heart out begging axel to help him?? axel refuses to tell him who sora is and that he’s sora’s nobody, etc. ok.. maybe he’s afraid of getting shot by the organization because it’s classified information. no, fuck that. its a major part of axel’s character is that he puts his own desires and wants before his job or duty. and! he also cares a great deal about his friends, even above his own wellbeing. he helps xion escape the organization when he was on that mission with xigbar. he didn’t even have an excuse to protect himself when xigbar interrogated him for letting xion go- axel could’ve gotten shot then and there for helping the traitor. he straight up put his neck on the chopping block for xion’s sake.
Tumblr media
so then, why now with roxas, does he refuse to do anything at all to help him? he’s done shit before like lie to roxas in a vain attempt to make him happy- axel cares about him! he wants to help him, especially when hes sad- and in this final moment, roxas is in complete despair. axel could’ve very easily been like “well i cant tell you,, but maybe some other guy could… uh idk his name starts with an R”. god almighty it would’ve been so easy to just nudge roxas in a direction while still covering for himself if he was still worried about that. but no, completely out of character, axel just abandons roxas to possible execution(of which he would likely be the one to carry out) by the org for rebelling, without even giving roxas the slightest lifeline to find the answers that he deserves.
man i just lost the entire topic going on an whole ass side tangent…. what even was the topic to begin with idk im complaining about days. i'll proceed with a spicy hot take! get ready. when xion died, all memory and evidence of her existence shouldn't have been erased. yes. as depressing of an idea as it is- like, her friends aren't even allowed the luxury of cherishing her memory when she's gone, i think we all know why it was a bad move in the long run. xion getting wiped from existence was a poorly veiled excuse to avoid having to explain why nobody talks about her in other games- while also just straight up being able to get away without really mentioning 99% of what happens in 358/2 days to begin with. even as a kid i knew this was shit and i still think it's shit now, and the fact they had to pull a memory wipe trick like this is even more proof that the writers of kh are absolutely abysmal at tying their stories together or thinking ahead at all. or more like, they shot themselves in the foot daring to implement important plot details into spin-off titles in the first place. chain of memories started this trend, and even that game had to pull the memory wipe trick at the end of the game so as to not stunt players who didn't happen to own both a ps2 and a gba.
Tumblr media
its a really asinine trend that has indisputably ruined kh with each installment. like, you can't be serious. in order to understand the main villian's(xehanort) motivations, i have to play 2 games and a casino, to have a full understanding as to why this old fuck wants to blow everyone up. for the longest time, i didn't understand why xehanort was concocting this decade long masterplan to attain kingdom hearts, UNTIL i happened upon the kh wiki. this is so sad you cant make this shit up you can figure out within the space of kh1 why ansem wants kingdom hearts. he's a power hungry mad scientist that went batshit insane in pursuit of knowledge. a classic victor frankenstien-esque character archetype. its so easy! I understood that without issue even as a child. too bad they couldn't just do that again with the next major villian! tbf, even xemnas' goals were extremely simple-...... until they added in the bit where he was lying to the entire org about them not having hearts or the ability to feel and yadayada... what was he trying to accomplish with that stunt again? don't get me started how stupid xemnas lying is. you've gotta be shitting me. like, are you saying that intelligent scientists like zexion and vexen wouldn't figure out such an obvious lie? what about lexaeus? luxord? really?? these aren't stupid people. at least one of them would have figured it out. would've been a good opportunity to give marluxia a reason to have been trying to pull a coup(besides wanting power???) because he figured out xemnas was a manipulative fuck and marluxia decided to take initiative and overthrow him. i love marluxia, but damn, the entire time i was playing com i had no idea what the fuck his motivations were.. why does he want to take over the organization... was that ever mentioned? …huh
Tumblr media
but wait wait, i just went on another massive side tangent. i want to go back to talking about xion. i would've much preferred if we got to see moments of roxas and axel struggling to come to terms with losing one of their only friends. like, how would axel handle being completely powerless to save her, and frankly unable to even be there in her final moments? maybe he would've turned on the organization much sooner, because how could he ever continue working for the group that split him apart from the 2 people that really matter to him. that'd be interesting. roxas could eventually cool down, and simmer into a depression AND NOT GET THROWN INTO A SHITTY SIMULATION BECAUSE RIKU SHOULDVE BEEN NICER TO HIM. huh what- and maybe roxas might feel inclined to give up, but meeting with namine could be some reassurance to him because she tells him all that stuff about how he won't disappear and there's hope for nobodies like them!! honestly, just seeing the characters having to grapple with the pain of their past and actually talk about it instead of vaguely wincing about things they feel but can't remember would've been so much better. i get it, it's a mildly entertaining trope- characters suffering emotional wounds they don't remember receiving, or acting in strange ways in deference to old traditions they can no longer recall... yeah i get the appeal, but it doesn't make for a very strong story in the long run, especially with an event as major as xion's sacrifice. why can't characters be allowed to grow from their past and have character development. i like it when a character's history influences them in meaningful ways that isn't entirely superficial.
Tumblr media
heck man, idk. you get the point. days is full of amazing ideas and has a fantastic premise, but like all things in kh, it struggles to hold up as soon as you examine it with the barest amount of scrutiny. thanks for coming to my ted talk.

The New Ninjago Show
(Please note before you proceed this is all in good fun for the haha funnies okay? Got it? We'll be nice? Okay good yo may go on!)
Me noticing that the main characters who are missing from the new Ninjago show are the most queer coded of the bunch aside from Lloyd himself: 0-0
Okay I'm sure that this is partially me being salty literally all my favorite characters (minus Nya) are missing from the dragons rising as far as I'm aware, but seriously I just find it a little... weird. (Also if I just am dumb and missed one of the characters in the trailers somehow let me know)
So number one we have THE most queer coded of all the characters that being Cole- Like my mans is all but confirmed to be lgbt+ in some way shape or form, come on we've all seen the royal blacksmiths episode aka The Coming Out Episode TM and the entire show + interviews with different crew members are REALLY dropping at least some hints (Honestly Cole's gonna get his own post at one point)
For two I'm actually mushing two characters together cause I have like the same thing to say that being Zane and Pixal- Now they're probably the less obvious of but a lot of people have kinda collectively gone "Yeah they're robots they have no real concept of gender why would they" a statement I agree with. Zane and Pixal also both have their moments of also just generally not being very straight.
Lastly we have Jay whose pretty straight forward- I'm pretty sure everybody and their fairy godmothers have come to the conclusion Jay is bi like Mr. sir has the hots for both the Smith siblings (who also have their moments)
Lloyd of course is his own bundle of queer coding but he's like the main character so they physically could never get rid of are favorite green gremlin.
This is all hilariously ironic since this show is literally coming out on June 1st and honestly if they do confirm Cole (they've really been eluding to him specifically that's why I'm mentioning him so much) only to immediately kill him off/disappear him/generally get rid of him it's gonna be pretty shitty tbh and I have to trust the writers probably know that since from what I can tell they're definitely not detached from the internet or the fandom they created so idk.
Now am I saying all of this was on purpose: absolutely not this is probably just a pure coincidence that kinda sucks and is also kinda funny tbh. I really doubt that the creators/writers did this on purpose it's just something I happened to notice and it gave me a chance to talk about the trailers a little more, I'm probably gonna make a video on it (would y'all watch that?) so yeah.
Also the show is coming out in pride moth, take that as you will. (P.S this is completely detached from the post but I wanted to mention Arin (what a way to spell that name) seems to be a Green Ninja fan but I would love if Sora was like a huge Zane/Pixal fan since she seems to like technology and is like disappointed she didn't get to meet them in like a comedic way idk just a thought)
I've got nothing left to do but wait, and if I got something wrong it's because I'm very stupid. Thank yo and good night!

WOAHHHHH BUDDY WE GOT A SPICY VIDEO. I'm gonna do some bullet-point responses and interject with my own opinion on the character.
1:01 - 1:55 "Kairi did f*ck all to earn her keyblade and people lost their minds when she was able to wield one."
To be fair, Sora also got the keyblade by accident in three. She did also win over Aqua by giving her flowers and having a spell put on her. It's not much but let's give her credit where we can.
2:17 - 2:22 "jumping ahead to kingdom hearts 1 what all does she do? Seriously name me three things she does."
She helps establish Riku's personality and how he's changed like the scene where she said that she wants just her a Sora to take the raft. Most importantly, she saves Sora from fucking dying. TWICE? Once when RiSem was about to kill him, and another time when Sora turned into a heartless.
5:50 - 5:57 "I'm changing lanes here but people seem to equate the end scene and the conversation with roxas and namine as a relationship for Kairi and Sora"
The best part about that? Days confirmed they barely know each other. Not trying to be bitter, but it's very funny and interesting to make that comparison. Sora and Kairi definitely know each other more than Namine and Roxas do.
6:02 - 6:15 "You've given the relationship between sora and kairi absolutely zero development this end conversation with Sora and Riku sets up more of their relationship and the love they have for one another more so than anything kairi has ever done"
Okay, so to show my own bias here, I agree to some extent, but again, we don't need to discredit Kairi and Sora's scenes. The tunnel scene in KH3 does a good job at further establishing their relationship and how they're always there for each other when the other falls. Even in spirit.
9:10 - 9:20 "Yes i know Kairi has a backstory but it's about the lore of the worlds not her so it's not all that helpful to make her relevant."
I actually that the fact that Xehanort was the one to send Kairi to Destiny Islands and the one to technically kick off Kairi and Sora's destinies together can have some interesting implications, but, a characters importance should not rely on theory and conjucture.
10:46 - 11:01 "I have no idea why kh3 ends with sora sacrificing himself for he why he cares so much why this is treated like riku or even donald had died because if those who had died had anyone else besides Kairi died this would have made a thousand times difference."
People forget Kairi and Sora are still childhood friends. You can think they've drifted apart if you want to, but broski, if my childhood friend who I haven't a conversation with in years was falling off a cliff, I'd want to save them!
While there are some bitter moments and ship bias in here, I do see this as more of a Kairi video then a ship bashing video. With the way the character is written, it's very easy to talk about Sora and Riku's accomplishments and characters while barely mentioning Kairi. It is not easy to do the vice versa.
My own thoughts on Kairi:
I feel as though Kairi is a lot more interesting to think about if you see her as a feminine flip side to Sora's perspective and role. Think about it? What role does Sora play? He's the stereotypical hero who goes around helping people and saving princesses, at least when you break it down to his core. What's the general female counterpart to that?
The princess who needs to be saved. If you really look at their characters, it's clear that neither of them wants to be in their respective roles, though it's much more obvious with Kairi then it is with Sora. It's true that Sora did want to leave the islands and have an adventure, but not under the circumstances that he did. Sure he admires people like Hercules, but when given the chance and finally has all his friends back together, what does he do? Does he venture out into more worlds looking for more people to help alongside his comrades? No, he sits his ass down and relaxes on Destiny Islands. He's excited when he receives a letter sure, but that's because he's under the false pretense that this time, he'll at least be fighting alongside Riku. When Xigbar told him he was a chump who didn't deserve the keyblade and that he should just chill and smoke weed in their dark basement, Sora thought about it! He didn't immediately reject him like you'd expect him to. Throughout KH3, is Sora excited to be on another mission, even if it means starting from the beginning? No, he's tired and worn out a lot of time, and people's comments on him noticeably get to him.
Kairi is also sick and tired of her princess role. She willingly took the opportunity to go train with her kidnapper and was noticeably disappointed when she couldn't go to save Sora. She also took the initiative to train with Aqua. IDK why I'm explaining it when she says it better herself:
The best way I can think of to end my little ramble is to say this:
Riku's story is about changing and moving forward. Sora and Kairi's stories about about changing things back to the way they were or how they should be.
