i love imagining my favorite characters on jeopardy and i have very specific headcanons for each. i feel like spencer reid would be banned from competing because it would be unfair to the other contestants. i feel like house would be banned because the FCC would have a vendetta against him (rightfully). i'd say he'd probably be matt amodio level of smarts but would be really abrasive and probably make his anecdotes all about his and wilson's gay sex or something clinically insane like that so no one in their right mind would let him go on. speaking of which (wilson, clinical insanity, or gay sex? you can never figure out which) i think wilson would love jeopardy and be great at it and probably be a multi-day, TOC champion who charms everyone and has 50 year old women thirstposting on their facebook about him. foggy nelson would also probably sweep although i think he'd have more gay people rooting for him, like a mattea roach type fanbase.

'Jeopardy!' champ Mattea Roach loses in Tournament of Champions semifinal game
Mattea Roach’s time competing in the latest “Jeopardy!” Tournament of Champions series has come to an end.
Roach, who hails from Halifax and now calls Toronto home, became the "Jeopardy!" contestant with the fifth-longest winning streak in the game show's history earlier this year.
The now-24-year-old won 23 consecutive games -- and a total of US$560,983.
Roach lost Friday’s Tournament of Champions semifinal game to Andrew He, a five-game champion from San Francisco.
He will go on to the finals starting Monday, competing with Amy Schneider and Sam Buttrey in a best-of-seven series. The first champion to win three games during the finals claims the $250,000 grand prize.
Roach came in third place during Friday night’s game against He and Eric Ahasic, a six-game champion from Minneapolis.
Roach ended the semifinal game with $7,200 and will take home a $10,000 prize.
Ahasic also walked away with a $10,000 prize and ended Friday’s game with $16,783.
Meanwhile, He finished the game with $37,863.
Earlier this week, Roach won a special "Jeopardy!" exhibition game against her fellow super-champions Amy Schneider and Matt Amodio, who have the second and fourth longest winning streaks.

Welcome to the 6th day of the Tournament of Champions! We have Zach Newkirk, Jessica Stephens, and Sam Buttrey. It’s also the final quarterfinal game! As you all know 2 years ago, Zach was unable to return for his 5th game on 9/14/2020, so he returned on 1/28/2021 for his 5th game and defeated Brian Chang. He then won the next game and lost on 2/1/2021. A year ago, Jessica Stephens ended Matt Amodio’s streak, but lost to Jonathan Fisher. She then won the Second Chance competition. Sam Buttrey (Steve Martin’s look-alike) was the winner of last year’s Professors Tournament. Sam had a big lead in the Jeopardy! round. In “D” IN SCIENCE, Sam found the round’s Daily Double, he went “all-in” out of his $3,400 and came up with an incorrect question. There was one triple stumper and 4 rebounds in the round. Going into Double Jeopardy!, Sam had $8,000, Zach had $2,200, and Jessica had neg. $1,400. In Double Jeopardy!, Zach made a comeback, but failed at the end of the round. In BRIT BITS, Sam found the round’s 1st Daily Double, he bet $2,000 out of his $8,400 and came up with the correct question. In IN THAT NOVEL, Zach found the round’s 2nd Daily Double, he bet $7,000 out of his $9,000 and came up with an incorrect question. There were 5 triple stumpers and 3 rebounds. Going into Final Jeopardy!, Sam had $19,600, Zach had $5,200, and Jessica had neg. $5,800. Poor Jessica, she never did got herself out of the negative situation, and what that means is that she will not participate in Final Jeopardy!, and will receive $5,000. The category is PHRASES FROM THE ANCIENT WORLD. The clue was, “Cicero wrote that a tyrant ordered this to be hung from the ceiling "by a horse-hair"; his guest begged to leave”. Zach came up with, “What is the sword of Damocles?”, which is correct and bet $528, which took him to $5,728. Sam also came up with what Zach said and bet $0, in which he stood at $19,600. Sam Buttrey moves on to the semifinals! Zach Newkirk will receive $5,000. We will have an exhibition game and the 2nd anniversary of Alex Trebek’s passing tomorrow. @jeopardy #kenjennings #tournamentofchampions #recap #2022 https://www.instagram.com/p/CksJWGKOPMm/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Not to be an angry dweeb but if I have to look at Ken Jennings' stupid face as the host of jeopardy for the foreseeable future I am going to lose my mind. he looks like a blonde gerbil. he looks like a four year old with really long arms. he looks like wet cheesecloth draped over a plastecine statue of Julius Caesar. I want him gone. I hate him he has the personality of an unripe carrot. He's probably sticky all the time and pulls his mask down when he orders coffee anyway I hate that guy. I hate him.

Amy Schneider is an American engineering manager and game show contestant. She had a 40-game winning streak on the game show Jeopardy! from November 2021 to January 2022, the second-longest win streak in the show's history, behind only Ken Jennings (74 games), who hosted the show as she competed. She is the most successful woman ever to compete on the show, in terms of both her streak and her $1.3 million in winnings.
Schneider is known for her skill in the Final Jeopardy! round, having responded correctly 30 out of 41 times in her run. She lives in Oakland, California. Across all American game shows, she is the 11th highest-earning contestant of all time.
Schneider grew up in Dayton, Ohio, and attended Chaminade-Julienne High School. In eighth grade, she was voted "Most likely to appear on Jeopardy!" by her classmates.
Throughout her run on Jeopardy!, she expressed admiration for past champions Ken Jennings, James Holzhauer, Matt Amodio, and Julia Collins (the first woman to win 20 games in a row, at the time Jeopardy's second longest streak). On a January 2022 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, Schneider said that she hoped Jennings would become the permanent host of the program, citing his comforting and empathetic presence.
Schneider has a cat named Meep; during the 17th game, when host Ken Jennings asked why the cat had this name, Schneider responded, "It was the name they gave her at the shelter, because the only noise she would make was 'meep'. Me and my girlfriend said we would find another name for her, but she kept making that noise, and we realized it was the right name."
Schneider is a trans woman; she completed gender transition in 2017. On January 19, 2022, Schneider was awarded a GLAAD Special Recognition honor for her Jeopardy! performance.
Schneider's first victory occurred on the November 17, 2021, episode, dethroning five-day champion Andrew He. In the following 14 games, she only missed one Final Jeopardy! question. She missed a second in her 16th win. In total, Schneider has won over $1 million on Jeopardy!, the fifth-most winnings of any contestant on the show in all play. Schneider is the first openly transgender contestant to qualify for the Tournament of Champions. Her winning streak came one year after the first openly transgender contestant, Kate Freeman, competed and won on the show. Schneider, who viewed Freeman's victory and several other trans contestants' losing appearances on the show as inspiration, has described the significance of having a trans identity: "The fact is, I don't actually think about being trans all that often, and so when appearing on national television, I wanted to represent that part of my identity accurately: as important, but also relatively minor."  After surpassing Matt Amodio's 38-game winning streak in the January 24, 2022, episode, Schneider took second place for the most consecutive wins in Jeopardy! history at 39, only behind Jennings's 74 consecutive wins.
End of streak Schneider was defeated in her 41st episode, aired on January 26, 2022, finishing second behind Rhone Talsma, a librarian from Chicago, Illinois. The "Final Jeopardy!" clue was, "The only nation in the world whose name in English ends in an H, it's also one of the 10 most populous.". Talsma responded, "What is Bangladesh?", which was correct, putting him ahead of Schneider who had no response. Her winnings totaled over $1,300,000, ranking her fourth in most money won in regular-season play behind Jennings, Holzhauer, and Amodio.
Schneider has explained that when she sees a category where she is weak, she gets it "out of the way first. That way, if there were any doubles in that category, they would come up when there wasn't as much money to be wagered." Later, she described her wagering strategy in a runaway game with little competition: "round up the second place score to the nearest thousand, double it, subtract it from my score, and then subtract another thousand in case I'd messed something up. Schneider said that doing crossword puzzles helps her think of words "as both a concept and a collection of letters at the same time".

Eclipse you're getting some of my Jeopardy! thoughts now because of that post I'm sorry but also not because Jeopardy!
I very desperately want Amy to beat Ken's record. I wanted Matt Amodio to beat it too but he didn't so now im really hoping Amy does not because I hate Ken or anything but because I want to see someone set a ridiculous record like he did. Plus then he would have to stop bringing up how he's the number 1 Jeopardy! player every time he hosts. Give Amy the gun and let her beat Ken's record!!!
(Also and unrelated to Jeopardy! Eclipse is a very cool name and I hope you're enjoying people using it for you!)
god it would be great if she did lol. apparently it’s been getting easier for people to go on streaks? or at least it looks that way based on the numbers. i mean i know ken did it back in 2004 but in the past 3 years or so there’s been a lot of people gunning for the top spot. idk why that is but it’s funny. And thank you bestie!! i am enjoying it its a very pog name

'The stakes are high': Mattea Roach makes her 'Jeopardy!' return Tuesday night
After her epic run in the spring, the Maritimes’ favourite “Jeopardy!” champion is back for more.
Mattea Roach will return to the game show Tuesday night to compete in a special exhibition game against fellow champions Amy Schneider and Matt Amodio.
The three seeded champions are also taking part in the Tournament of Champions this week. They bypassed the quarter-finals and are headed straight to the semi-finals, which start Wednesday night. Roach’s semi-final match will air Friday night, according to the “Jeopardy!” website.
“Every single game, whether I was in it or not, first of all, contains three contestants that are just genuinely really nice people,” Roach told CTV Atlantic’s Katie Kelly during an interview this week. “Everyone that I met while taping the tournament was, in my opinion, a truly fantastic person outside the context of being clever and a great trivia player. But also there is, like, drama in this tournament. The stakes are high … every game is exciting.”
The 23-time winner first competed on the show earlier this year. Her streak came to an end in May after she lost to a woman from Georgia by just $1.
Roach says returning to “Jeopardy!” is “just gravy” – a phrase producers use to encourage returning contestants to have fun.
“I will have fun, that’s one of the best things I’m probably best known for about being on the show.”
Roach says she didn’t necessarily prepare for her return to the podium.
“I just have never been somebody who has been particularly motivated to study, I just don’t have the real drive for it, which I realize, maybe is kind of surprising to some people,” she says. “I learned all that stuff that I know on ‘Jeopardy’ by accident. I don’t even know how I know all that stuff!”
In the “Jeopardy!” standings, Roach sits at 5th place in both consecutive games won and career earnings in regular play, and is 9th on the all-time winnings list.
She is originally from Halifax and has family in Cape Breton, but now calls Toronto home.
Roach says the attention has been overwhelming since her historic winning streak.
“I appreciate it and I’m kinda bowled over by the support,” she says. “Even now, six months after my original run on the show, I’m still getting stopped on the street by people who are so excited to see me. I’m still surprised every time.”
During her initial “Jeopardy!” run, Roach won a total of $560,983 USD. She hasn’t made any big purchases with her winnings yet, saying it’s better out of sight, out of mind.
“I’ve spent maybe $4,500. The rest, I don’t even wanna look at it.”
However, Roach says she has bought a few more of her trademark blazers she wore during the show.
“What I didn’t previously own was any full, complete matching suits, so that was what I did for the tournament. I was like, ‘OK I can get an actual top and bottom matching set,’ so I got one that was kind of a burnt orange, like brown, and then just a navy.”
Roach says her life has changed since becoming a “Jeopardy!” champion, but not as much as people might think.
“I live in my same apartment, I do still teach the LSAT, although my career trajectory has definitely changed a little bit.”
She does have her own beer now, however.
Cape Breton-based Big Spruce Brewing recently released its “Who is Mattea Roach?” IPA for her 24th birthday.
“A number of people texted me, ‘Did you know about this?’ I didn’t know that it was going to happen,” she says.
Roach first applied to be on “Jeopardy!” in 2020 and was invited to Los Angeles to tape an episode in January 2022.
At that time, Roach says she was planning on going to law school in the fall, and was accepted, but ultimately decided not to go.
“It’s not so much that I’m definitely going to end up in a different place, or that I have a different end goal, I think it’s just I have a sense of openness now to exploring other options.”
Roach currently hosts a podcast, called “The BackBench,” about Canadian politics.
“It’s actually a panel show, so what I enjoy about it is that I get to introduce subjects and ask questions, but then we have a rotating panel of mostly journalists from across Canada that have different political takes on things, different lived experiences that they bring to the table, different areas of expertise.”
Meanwhile, Roach says she continues to feel support from “Jeopardy!” viewers in the Maritimes.
“It’s been overwhelming, but in a positive way, I would say, knowing how deep the support runs.”
If Roach wins the Tournament of Champions, she’ll claim the $250,000 grand prize.
