Erebus’ mother now has a name so does his father this is exiting because what other parent characters have solid names literally none of them (Alex and Eiras mother is either called aderyn or Gwen I haven’t decided she’s irrelevant and Louie’s parents are called Jennifer and locryn that’s really it) so his mother is Matilda and his father is Henry and I think I might give them the surname duff I’m not sure but I don’t really have any other ideas and behind the name spat it out when I was looking up names with dark somewhere in the meaning I’ll sit on it also joshA1 and joshA2.5s combination reboot got renamed Liam because there are too many joshes so the one guy that was actually originally called josh (unlike joshA3 and joshA4 who where called Louie ) is now called something similar to Louie but Liam actually hasn’t shown up in any major characters names before this so I’m actually getting less incomprehensible
#hark says i#100%birdmade#ocs#gotta get a Keith in here somewhere as like an effigy to my past as a klance shipper#I’ve really been thinking on Liam#and the pond cave cabin in the woods original mikeal(called mickel also current mikeal is really more Idie and his own character than mickel#) Rodrick heather nitro and gash era#no character the lot off them#anyway the story is getting ireprably tied to the Magnus archives fear system to the point where I’m gonna probably just slap smirks 14(15ac#ctualy don’t leave the extinction out)#in there and say that the bauddalinns brought it over(the classification system not the entity’s)#part of me is like no stop the regular magic sci-fi and fucked up science was enough you don’t need evil fear magic as well#but Liam is literally such a hunter and I like stranger Rodrick and lonely heather and slaughter nitro and end gash and Andy is literally a#watcher you cannot take that from me he can’t stop knowing things and Erebus is so offensively the dark it isn’t even funny and Nora is such#a slaughter desolation avatar and I haven’t even really touched her song I got back into tma she’s just always been like that#I like the way they fall headfirst into the supernatural the attempted school taught magic is cool but I have come to interpret that as a fe#eble attempts at making magic the army’s bitch which was never going to work#it’s always worked best vague and fear god esc like whos actually a traditional wizard? bill I guess Dylan the school teacher or whatever hi#s name was all the magics always been kind of vague and fucky so it’s not like it doesn’t fit in#Robert smirke was a bauddalinn confirmed#oc lore#hard oc lore#hitting you over the head with my oc lore#making a world with story’s and people to inhabit it feels like sculpting#he says despite not really sculpting that much

I don't know if I want to write a massive essay about this, but they missed the whole point with all the characters, especially Ye Wenjie. I'm assuming everyone who said this portrayal is accurate and a raging angry Ye Wenjie is good is because they either never read the book, or non-Chinese, or both. (Or maybe projecting their own views on Maoism). Ye Wenjie received higher education during a time period where it wasn't common for women. She believed in science, she believed in people, but time and time again, the people in her life let her down and never showed any signs of remorse. What I've gathered from the text is that she isn't fuelled by rage, more so she is dead on the inside, she has lost all hope in people. Her decision to reply is not because she wants to destroy, she believes that a civilisation from a higher standpoint could save humans, and this roots in the fact that she is educated. She's not some crazy rage driving women who would ever say "time is a motherfucker", not even a Chinese equivalent.
I'm not sure why the writers decided to write Ye Wenjie and Yang Weining's relationships out of the story...Oh so she is rescued by a white man later on hmm??? (Coincidentally, all the characters driving the plot are also non-Chinese in this). Ye Wenjie marrying Yang Weining and giving birth to Yang Dong gave her a glimpse of light in the life from which she had lost hope. Spending time in Qijiatun also gave her a bit of warmth. When she pushed Yang Weining off the cliff, it marked another significant point, she was calm, cut the rope with no hesitation. She did not care to get herself entangled in romantic affairs. Making her have a child with Evans is laughable. They also dumb down Yang Weining, to the extent that Ye Wenjie had to explain 43+8=51 to him. Mind you, he was a real proper engineer. (Weirdly with all the diversifying, they did not keep a single male Chinese scientist in the main team huh)
Anyways, before I go on a tangent. The writers have fast tracked everything and left out the finer text about the characters in the book. I'm not sure if they missed the point or that nowadays the audience are ruined by fast media, something like the tencent version are simply too slow for the people in the west. Any of my moots and followers who watch cdramas will know that the real good stuff is all in the build-up. It's all the little text that adds up to a fleshed out character. If the culture difference is too much for Netflix, leading them to change all the characters and most of the plot, why not just buy a western ip. There's plenty of good western sci-fi ips.
I can't help but think they want to do this because they wanted to film the scene where Ye Zhetai is beaten to death. Have an excuse to turn Ye Wenjie an angry woman. We all know why. If they really cared about showing a true China during that time, they would have spend some care with the Red Coast details as mentioned above (we did not have screens in 1960s that display Chinese text!!! And definitely no simplified Chinese characters on computers!!!!). Instead of having her snog Bai Mulin off - unrealistic since people were a lot more conserved back then, they would not have done this and it's ooc for Ye Wenjie. Falling in love with Evans - a real blasphemy. I guess the 3 Body Problem here means 3 bodies pounding at each other. Jin-Raj-Will also seem to have their own 3 body problem going on too.
(One last tangent) Ye Wenjie and Yang Dong(Vera) as scientists not believing in god but having monks at her funeral ??????????? Not even a typical normal Chinese funeral will have monks. The stereotype enforcing is real.

Black/white interracial lesbian couple on alien road trip
nathaliebjoern asked:
What concerns would A have going on a roadtrip in USA in an alien/sci-fi tourist stops type way (circa 2013)? A is Black, grew up and lives in Denmark, parents are from African-country-yet-to-be-determined (possibly Ethiopia, but I do take suggestions here), going to USA with (white) girlfriend. Example: they're worried about being two young girls on a road trip (exacerbated by being wlw) so they are taking self defence before leaving (bonus: gets convenient/relevant later when they have to fight sudden, real aliens). Is there some specific concern A would have (bonus if relevant for alien hunting or car chasing adventures)? What precautions would she take or concerns might she have? Any concerns she might discuss with gf, even if there are no precautions to take? Or just ruminate over in internal monologue, i guess, but i want them to have a healthy relationship with lots of communication lol. She's the planning, overprepared type! I want the focus to be on their Alien fighting road trip adventure and coming of age lesbianism in the background, but i want to still acknowledge any issues A might have.
"I want the focus to be on their Alien fighting road trip adventure and coming of age lesbianism in the background, but i want to still acknowledge any issues A might have."
How far the world has progressed in terms of discrimination in your alien sci-fi world is up to you. Based on your description, racism and homophobia still exists. Perhaps it just isn't as much of a problem in this setting or story. Or encounters would depend on the town so your characters avoid and don't happen upon areas that may be a problem for the couple. Either way, it is not erasure to have a story where discrimination isn't something the characters encounter. I find this to be especially true for science fiction and fantasy.
As a Black woman who likes to travel, and in an interracial relationship, I take certain precautions before I travel. One way I do this is to research the travel experiences shared from Black women and mixed couples who've been to the places that I'm considering. I also look into news stories and reports about any incidents in the area.
This could also apply if you're LGBTQIA, in an interracial relationship and so on. As your character is a planning, super prepared type, it'd make sense if they mapped out their stops to make sure they were interracial couple / Black / LGBTQIA+ friendly and avoided any places that were not.
Also, what "friendly" or safe looks like may vary. Not all travel experiences are blatant in their discrimination or othering behavior.
What general attitudes might range from: ideas
The travelers blend in. There's enough diversity and tourism where you don't get an unwelcome attitude from the townspeople.
Some stares, second-glances and curiousity, but little to no blatant hostility.
Strong "celebrity-status" othering, to the point of being touched, pictures snapped of you, asked to poise for photos if asked at all, given free gifts, etc. (Note: this can be quite uncomfortable)
Stares and standoffish behavior from locals, but no incidents of violence.
Bold-faced hostility, such as intimidating glares, recording, taunts, yelling, and possible physical encounters like spitting.
Explicit threats, violence, being warned to leave, high risks of bodily harm.
Note that this doesn't mean everyone in a place would all act this way. I've traveled where there were stares of curiosity in one city or standoffish behavior in others, but it didn't extent to everyone in those places, staff, and so on. It also didn't sum up every single encounter. I've even heard tales of the very hostile places where a person warns the traveler that they should leave to avoid trouble from others in the town, usually out of kind warning. One can travel anywhere, really, and come across hostile people, and in that same town experience kindness.
Applying these travel experiences your story
The characters just mentioning that they've done their research and will avoid these kinds of places with known negative experiences should be enough. You don't need an actual experience of discrimination to play out, if you'd rather avoid that.
If you did want to include something without including an active experience, you could bring up the matter by mentioning the history of a place. For example, they learn some info and tell their partner that "Blank, Tennessee was once a sundown town and would've been unsafe for us ninety years ago." Or they mention some historical event that happened at a certain place, possibly even visiting a historic monument or museum.
I hope this helps; your story sounds fun!

I finished The Mars House last night and have been trying to gather my thoughts beyond ADJFAWEHDHA; and AHHHHHHHH. Let's see how this works out.
In a lot of ways this is a pretty typical Natasha Pulley book, which makes you love complicated people who have done bad things, possibly for good reasons and possibly not. The love interest is to all appearances a xenophobic nationalist, but you better believe I loved Gale pretty much immediately.
In other ways this book is different from her past work—obviously there's the far future setting, but it's pretty clear that Pulley wanted to Say Something about gender with The Mars House. This book is a response to and shots fired at the terf ideology and it is not at all subtle about it. And of course, it's a Natasha Pulley book, so there's still empathy for the far-future Martian terfs.
So I would definitely call it the most...political? of her books, which for me was not at all a bad thing. It has everything that I love about Pulley novels—her gorgeous use of language, her ability to wring beauty and pathos out of the small and ordinary, the gay pining, the morally dubious main characters. I've seen reviews say both that the science is ridiculous and that the book is hard science fiction, and I would come down on the side of the science probably being a bit ridiculous, since it's definitely not hard science fiction (lol at the reviewers who are throwing that term around and not knowing what it means). I actually have no idea if the science is plausible or not and I honestly don't care, because that's really not the point of the book.
Anyway, now I'm just going to list things. Doing a read more for spoilers! And I'm not joking, I'm going to spoil the whole book under here so really, if you haven't read it and you care about that, don't keep reading.
The worldbuilding was so good. I mean, this is one of Pulley's strengths, but I had wondered how it would stack up in a sci fi novel versus her historical fiction. As usual, everything was so visceral and textured. Tharsis and Songshu feel like real places I could visit.
THE MAMMOTHS OMG OMG. When they decided to ask the mammoths for help pulling up the gravity train, I almost jumped up from the couch yelling (I would have, but I couldn't disturb my cat who was on my legs). The entire idea of communicating with mammoths and studying mammoth society almost made me cry. Having spent even a tiny amount of time around elephants in the wild, all of that rang 100% plausible. And true in my heart.
I need a sequel where River and January go to Alpha Centauri to talk to the aliens that the Penglai mission is going to find there.
I'M ABOUT TO SPOIL THE ENTIRE BOOK SO DON'T READ ANYMORE IF YOU DON'T WANT THAT.
Speaking of River, yeah I guessed that "Aubrey" was actually River. The clues were well done and I felt smug when I was right.
But!! I actually thought River knew more than they did! A literal chill went up my back when River revealed they had NO IDEA AUBREY WAS LITERALLY IN THEIR ROOM WITH THEM.
The scene in River's bathtub had me screaming crying throwing up.
Is Natasha Pulley working through something re: waifish orphans? I knew Yuan was going to end up being adopted into House Song within pages of their (his?) introduction.
I love that we never find out if River is biologically male or female. I love that January says it doesn't matter and he means that and never tells us.
Speaking of gender abolition, can I have that please for myself.
All of the animals were, as always, a delight. Shoutout to the puffin at the beginning who we never see again, as well as Shuppiluliuma in her basket.
The ancient Mediterranean references littered through this book (see above) were also a delight.
When you think about it, both of Aubrey's consorts fell for River, and that's funny.
The flashes of love between River and Aubrey were devastating.
The haptic implants are a dystopian nightmare and absolutely a realistic prediction of where we're going to end up.

Introducing Me.
Hi! I'm Rickie the Storyteller! I like making up stories for fun.
I figured that it was probably time to have a proper intro post on here.
Here are a few facts about me:
My real name is Erica. "Rickie" is a nickname. (And I'm a girl.)
My MBTI is INFJ.
My birthday is 15/09 (so I'm a Virgo).
I'm British. And black. And kind of a nerd.
I love to read (I can't choose one favourite book lol. My favourite childhood books were the How to Train Your Dragon series, and I also loved everything by Roald Dahl).
I love movies (particularly Pixar movies. I think my favourite Pixar film is The Incredibles).
Right now, my two favourite shows are Gilmore Girls and BoJack Horseman. And The Boondocks… and I also love Phineas and Ferb (I always have. It’s my comfort show <3 )
I'm a STEM student (mainly computer science, physics and maths). I particularly like science a lot. When I was young, all I wanted was to be a doctor. I got over that once I found out how long you need to stay in school lol.
I hate swearing in real life, but I sometimes include swear words in my stories (only when I feel like the character would lol. It's about getting their personalities right, that's all).
I am a major perfectionist. And a tryhard. Because of that, I get burnt out a lot lol.
I have the most random music taste lol. I like just about everything so long as it sounds nice (my playlists range from old-school hip hop to gospel/rnb to jazz to classical to indie... right now as I'm typing this out, I'm listening to Lizzy McAlpine lol)
I've always loved writing and storytelling since I was a kid. I used to write in my notebooks whenever I could, and make up bedtime stories to entertain my younger sister when we were little kids. I enjoyed creating different worlds, scenarios, characters and personalities with my imagination. Making up stories is my passion and my escape.
I got the idea to start this blog because I type up a lot of stories and store them on my computer. Some of them are long, some of them are short. Most of them aren't finished… But I wanted to give them a space of their own. I wanted to have a platform where I can share my stories with other people who love writing and reading as much as I do. I wanted to connect with other writers and readers who can give me feedback, advice, and support. And I wanted to challenge myself to improve my writing skills and grow as a writer and storyteller.
On here, you'll find various types of stories (and poems, I guess) that I write for fun or for practice. Some of them are short stories that can be read in one sitting. Some of them are longer stories that are divided into chapters or parts. Some of them are based on prompts or requests that I get from you guys. And some of them are just random ideas that pop into my head. I'm here to share with you some of my original stories, characters, and ideas that I hope will inspire you, entertain you, and make you think.
I'm happy to be here, but it was a tough choice to start this blog for a few reasons - the main one being that it takes a lot of courage to share your stories/creations with others. You never know how they will react or what they will think of your work. And like I said before, I'm a perfectionist. I want the things I post to be good. I really hope you enjoy reading my stories as much as I enjoy writing them.
I want to push myself and step out of my comfort zone. I want to experiment with different writing styles and genres: YA, fantasy, sci-fi, romance, comedy, mystery, drama, etc. Something for everyone. And if there isn't yet something that suits your taste or mood, eventually I'll try and get it there (I haven't been on here very long lol). I've never written fanfictions before, but I wouldn't mind writing for any specific tv shows/movies/video games in future. I'm open to anything! As long as we aren't talking about anything inappropriate…
I'd also love to interact with you guys more: answer your questions about writing or storytelling or anything else; give feedback on your own stories if you want; share tips and tricks on how to improve your writing skills; or just chat about anything that interests us. I don't just want to write stories that come from my own imagination (although I definitely will do that too). I also want to take your suggestions and prompts. So, if you have an idea for a story that you want to read or hear me tell, just let me know and I'll try to make it happen.
If you like what you read, feel free to follow and share with your friends. You can also send me requests for stories or prompts/topics you want me to write about. I'm always open to new ideas and challenges.
Thank you for visiting my blog and supporting my passion. Also, thanks for reading this (if you actually read the whole thing, then you're awesome)!
Stay tuned for more stories coming soon!

continues to stare at you
ok so SPACE TRAVEL and PERFECT REPLICANT BODIES and WEIRD WORK-LIFE BALANCE.
the premise of the black mirror episode is this: in the 1960s (but sci-fi, don't think about it), two astronauts are on a small space shuttle travelling to [place] for [large number of] year to do [something in space idk the destination is NOT the point here]. the ship has the most basic amenities to keep them alive; food, treadmill, all the space equipment.
when the astronauts go to sleep, they activate a computer by their bed and lie down in a weird niche in the cushions, and then - they wake up! in perfect replicant robot bodies on earth. they 'work' on the ship during the day, and when they sleep they go home and spend time with their families. their robot bodies have their entire consciousness for the duration of their sleep, they look exactly like their real bodies and move and feel like them (unclear if the robot bodies can do all the sex things, implied not in the show but it's very unclear and i will not go on a tangent to talk about the actual episode here).
in the episode the two astronauts have their own families and aren't even very good friends, they are Work Colleagues but like......i was watching and just Imagining the possibilities of Pining and Yearning in space, Obi-Wan and Anakin spending their days among the stars together and learning to resent the time they spend apart on Earth. maybe they're married to other people, maybe they're not, but the important pain is that they are not together at all times. there's cheating potential, i guess, but i just i just really love this idea of them being in love and only being able to be together on that little ship bc their lives are separated on Earth, it's cramped and bare and utilitarian but it's also the richest place in the galaxy because it's where they are together.
Oooo this has such angsty au potential especially if their robot bodies on earth are very far away from each other and won’t or cannot go meet so it’s just time apart when they could be together
both of them have families (either spouses&children or mothers&fathers who are older now and need help) and obligations on earth that they need to tend to but also both of them became astronauts because they love science as one of the greatest biggest loves of their lives…..and so it’s shockingly easy to fall in love with someone who they see every day who also loves science and exploration the same amount
and who is real and right there in front of them and easy to touch and feel…..I imagine they start pushing their bedtimes later and later so they can just stay up and look at each other and talk and it’s probably killing their bodies to be up so late and wake so early but it’s the most pleasant death they know 🥺

Get to Know the Unknowable!!
14 DEC 2023 Lest I ever forget this momentous day
Hey so I found a list of weird unambiguous questions so we're doing a get-to-know-the-blogger thing for shits and giggles, which I guess I'll link in my masterlist or something.
Gonna include some blog-driven questions first and then just delve straight into what-the-actual-fuck territory.
Here we goooooooooooo
Fandoms?
One Piece Live Action is the only one I'm actively writing right now, largely for my own sanity. Fandoms I also write for include One Piece anime/manga (of course, though I'm painfully behind), Death Note, Harry Potter, Supernatural, Seven Deadly Sins anime, Durarara!, Chrono Trigger/Chrono Cross, and maybe some others I might remember and add later or something. Feel free to make a random ask request for literally anything listed, there's a chance I might end up responding to it. But OPLA is my hyperfixation at the moment, with a little spice added here and there from manga. I make my own canon, don't like it then sail on.
Genres?
Oh fuck me up, I will write any genre. My original work is primarily horror, sometimes with a touch or fantasy or science fiction, almost always with a splash of crime. Fanfiction often revolves around romance, but if you want something niche, DEAR GODS TELL ME I WANT TO PARTAKE especially if it's horror please ask me to write horror
Reply time to ask requests?
My life is very chaotic right now, and thus therefore also is my reply time. Do not get disheartened if I write a few headcanons and/or a one-shot or two before I get to your request. Writing is very much a coping mechanism for me, so I write what I feel. That does NOT mean I'm not interested in your request, it just means that I want to make sure I'm in the right mindset to do it justice because I love you people and the fact that you like the shit I'm shoveling makes me so unreasonably happy.
Are you really an ageless unknowable horror?
Yes. We get into fandoms, too. Eternity gets fucking boring okay don't judge. Especially when your bff has been napping for LITERAL CENTURIES WOULD YOU WAKE UP ALREADY YOU TENTACLED DIPSHIT I'M STARTING TO RELATE TO THESE MORTALS AND IT'S UNCOMFORTABLE
What is the most ridiculous nightmare you have ever had?
Actually I wrote a whole ass horror story about it, which I might share here someday. So there was this epidemic of huge windstorms one night that knocked out the power in a handful of small towns around the world. Then the next day there were these weird little black rocks, oval shaped, about an two inches long and one inch wide. Smooth like river rocks with a white line running through them, just scattered around the towns here and there. Not super noticeable, not tons of them, but just enough that they looked out of place. If one came in contact with your skin, e.g. you picked one up or kicked one up into your shoe, you'd get this weird little pinprick of pain just behind your left shoulder. Three nights later, at precisely 2:43 in the morning (nonidea why, but it was 2:43, Inwill never forget that), you hear footsteps. Quick footsteps, small footsteps, coming toward wherever you happen to be, and then you're asleep. Then you wake up the next missing a limb or an organ, no signs of any injury or surgery or anything, just like it was never there to begin with (and obviously if itbwas a major organ then you never woke up again at all). There was a lot more detail, the dream was like living in some weird sci-fi horror movie, and it was so vivid that when I woke up from it I literally sat up and jerked away all my covers to make sure I still had all my limbs.
Tell us an embarrassing story.
Seventh grade. Close to the end of the school year. Was reading a book (I think it was The Shining), had one of my ankles crossed over my other knee, didn't realize I was somehow pinching a nerve. Had to stand up at end of class period, and one of my legs had gone completely numb. I stood, took one step, went down like a sack of bricks. The group of boys who used to bully me were all in the class and spent at least a month mocking the spectacle. Still think about that sometimes.
Explain an inside joke you have with a friend or family member.
Any time hubs and I go out together for any reason, one of us inevitably does Rick Sanchez voice "And awwwAAAAAyyy we gooo" before we leave the driveway. No idea how this started. No idea when it will end. I have a feeling we'll still be doing this into our 80s with no idea why.
Tell me your life story in exactly one sentence.
"Oh no, not again."
What is the strangest coincidence that ever happened to you?
Went to the beach when I was seventeen. Was sitting out on the boardwalk playing guitar by myself because toxic family members were doing nothing but argue and fight in our hotel room, I literally just walked out and no one noticed for hours. Was super peaceful. Got into a conversation with two strangers who had just met each other as well and were hanging out, two kind elderly men. As we were talking, I found out that one of them was from my very small hometown in New York and had moved to the beach recently; and the other was from the very small town I lived in at that present time in South Carolina, and had recently moved to the beach. Both of them had moved there at around the same time. I still think about that a lot.
What is your favorite random fact?
Pineapple eats you while you eat it.
What is your useless talent?
I can bend the top joint of all of my fingers without bending the second joint, a la Sith Force Lightning. Arguably it makes me better at music, but I've never had to bend my fingers like that playing guitar, so I disagree.
What is the strangest food combination you enjoy?
I literally have no idea. I'm a tremendous foodie and "strange" is relative when you're willing to eat literally anything put in front of you at least one time just to experience it.
What would you name your heavy metal band?
Plastic Peanutbutter
If you could choose one superpower, what would it be?
Invisibility, so people would like just leave me alone seriously I'm antisocial as shit just give me peace and quiet (not internet people, you guys are cool af)
What is your strangest irrational fear?
Gamma Ray Bursts. Do yourself a favor amd don't Google it. I spent literally two years of middle school fucking petrified of that shit. It still gets under my skin if I think about it too long now.
Describe your most eccentric family member.
It me! 😁 or maybe my niece, but she's basically my personality twin so either way.
Have you ever met a celebrity? Which celebrity would you like to meet?
Nope. But I really would love to have coffee with Stephen King and just talk about life. His On Writing memoir changed everything I thought about writing, taught me that imposter syndrome was a thing, and that even the most talented and successful artists have it. Really I just want to thank him.
What is the craziest thing you ever did on a dare?
Got a tattoo. It's a skeleton key, on the outer side of my right thigh. I have another, but I got that one on a dare. Basically just because why not, and I literally forget it's there sometimes and sort of jump when I notice it.
What is the grossest thing you would do for $100?
Probably eat something super weird. Will literally try anything once, food-wise. In fact I'll usually try it twice, just to be sure.
What songs are on the soundtrack to your life?
Don't ask me that, we'll be here all goddamned year. A few right off hand though are "Doesn't Remind Me" by Audioslave, "This Train Don't Stop There Anymore" by Elton John, "What it's Like" by Everlast, "Gone Away" by The Offspring, and "Vienna" by Billy Joel. I'm also unreasonably hyperfixated on The Fratellis right now because I suddenly remembered they existed a few months ago after more than ten years not hearing them at all and now I know almost their entire discography by heart. They're my feel-good band right now and pretty much all I'm listening to. Yes, there definitely is something wrong with me.
What actor would you choose to play you in your biopic?
Samuel L. Jackson. My life requires hefty use of the word "motherfucker." He might need a wig or two but I think he can handle it.
What is your go-to karaoke song?
I've never karaoked, but probably something from Chris Cornell, Ella Fitzgerald, Jewel, or Fleetwood Mac. Or "American Pie" by Don McLean.
If you were a superhero, who would be your archnemesis?
Probably myself rofl kinda don't like me very much
Create and describe an undercover alias.
Fancy black bowler hat, and a pair of those joke glasses with an attached giant nose and mustache. But like, be completely and totally serious about it, to the point that people are afraid to question you.
What is your most random impulse buy?
Death Note manga, complete box set. I was seventeen. I had money. Many years later and I do not regret it at all and it sits very close to my bedside.
What did you do as a teenager that makes you cringe now?
Let bullying bother me.
What would your warning label say?
"CONTENTS HIGHLY UNSTABLE, DO NOT TOUCH MIGHT TAKE OVER THE KNOWN UNIVERSE ON CONTACT or possibly cry hard to tell"
What is your guilty pleasure?
I don't think I have one. If it brings you happiness, don't waste your time being guilty about it. Just enjoy it and kick anyone who makes fun of you for it directly in the shin-bone. Actually don't do that just ignore them I'm not into violence.
What emoji do you use most often?
Combination of 🙄😒 to signify eyerolling.
Does your family practice any unusual practices?
Does emotional unavailability count asking for a friend
A genie grants you the ability to have infinite amounts of one item. What is it?
Guitar strings. Please. Dear sweet fuck PLEASE
What is your favorite joke?
A big moron and a little moron sit on a bridge. Which one falls off?
The big moron. Because the other one was a little more on.
Aaaaaahahaha
What is the best Halloween costume you ever wore?
Pirate. Always. I have so many clothes tucked in my closet and jewelry hidden away that are strictly there for the sole purpose of putting together an impromptu pirate costume it's honestly kind of sad honestly
What is the most awkward situation you ever found yourself in?
My very very religious mother-in-law noticing that I have a tattoo on my forearm...after SEVEN YEARS. Awkward af, but it was also hilarious.
What is the most ridiculous thing you believed as a child?
My older brother once told me when I was very young that vehicles move by rolling over and over end to end so fast that you don't know it's happening, and crashes happen when they hit a rock or a crack in the road the wrong way. I spent TWO YEARS secretly terrified of getting in a car before finally asking my mom about it and she just sort of sighed and said "oh god please stop listening to your brother"
What is the most outrageous lie you told a child?
I don't know Santa or something? I've got a ton of nieces and nephews. I try not to lie to kids, apart from letting them think magic exists for as long as possible, because everyone deserves to believe that.
What is the dumbest way you injured yourself?
Broke my pinky toe, because my dog got under my foot and I didn't want to step on her paw by accident so I jerked the wrong way
How do you waste time most often?
Probably napping. But given I have trouble sleeping at night that's sorta necessary or something I guess.

she/her
My gorgeous gorgeous girl is your favorite mid-sized black jewish bi ace protagonist in the entire world! Have you ever haunted YOUR best friend and tried to stop him from avenging your untimely death? No? Well, guess who has! She's got it all: Judaism, attraction to women AND appreciation of a good looking boy, a tummy and thighs, brown eyes and a tongue that just don't stop trashing the hell out of the only person in the world who can hear her speak! She's permanently seventeen but she would have wanted to be a teacher, were she still alive, in order to help kids so they don't feel as much of the same undying anger she carries around with her every single day! She's traumatized, she loves her family, she's... YAEL!!
Midsized, dark brown skin, typically braids down to mid-back or so, dark brown eyes, big red glasses. She wears a star of david around her neck and also has some awesome fashion sense! She likes tighter tops w big baggy pants.
156. Myghal Tregory - The Diminutive Scholar (@light-lost-logs)
He/Him
He's a sentient rat trying to find the secret to immortality in a gothic sci-fi version of victorian london run by space bats that's underground hiding from the sun (who is sentient and will not let breaking the laws of physics and suchlike happen in the daylight) because he found out that rats only live two years and HES ONE AND A QUARTER.
He's like OH. HOLY SHIT. I DON'T WANT TO DIE. THAT'S NOT FAIR. because it's not to him, right? He's as sentient as any human or cat. And they get to live for decades. You know humans in the neath (underground) can live basically forever? Humans get to come back when they die down there. You know what doesn't? Rats. Rats have one life and they die and they only get two years but they are literally as sentient as everyone else. But also everyone treats them shittily because they're rats. Nobody takes him seriously as an academic. Nobody! they let tigers run a whole continent but they won't let a rat practice chemistry.
He has spent BASICALLY THE MAJORITY OF HIS LIFE studying and nobody even lets him check books out of the library because he's a ten inch tall rat. And everything is human sized and nobody respects him and you know he's just had enough which is why HE HAS ACCQUIRED A GUN. He WILL GET THE REQUIRED STUDYING MATERIALS FOR ACHIEVING IMMORTALITY (which is possible here) WHETHER HE GETS THEM NICELY OR HE HAS TO SHOOT PEOPLE. he's fucking fed up of not being listened to.
He is 11"" tall. He is cornish. He is a rat. He is afraid of his own mortality. He is furious about the injustices done to him. He is doing illegal science unto himself in order to get time, just a little more time, to enjoy his life. To find something worth living for. To be able to say at the end of it all ""yes, i lived a good life, i saw more of the world than my room and i experienced its wonders enough to fill my heart"".
He has a gun and he will use it.
What else could you ask from a character? Do YOUR blorbos have guns to defend their rights to academia and The Forbidden Sciences Beyond The Colour Of Time? No? Then vote for Treg. A vote for Treg is a vote for ALL ratkind.
Treg is a small, fawn blaze berkshire rat with a bristle coat. Which in rat fancier speak means he's ginger on top and white underneath, with rough fur, sort of like a cream and white german shepard. He has a pink nose, ears, hands, feet and tail, with red eyes and white whiskers. The fur on his face sort of looks like a little moustache and goatee, just a bit.
He wears a white knitted jumper made of wool, brown doll's trousers (it's sort of hard to find clothes fitted for rats) some shoes which are basically just doll's shoes that have been dipped in wax underneath so he has some semblance of soles for wearing on the hard cobblestones, and a tiny little pair of round spectacles that are held in place on his face with string and clips that hold onto the ears. His eyeglasses are stained in Violant, which is a very vibrant purple-scarlet colour from underground that forces you to remember things you otherwise might forget. He wears these because a lot of things in the neath can make you Forget knowledge you might want, and he is determined not to. He also has a woolen hat he wears sometimes if he's cold.

This or That tag
Thanks for the tag, @starlit-hopes-and-dreams :)
Historical or Futuristic
Eh - historical if that can mean a very approximately history-inspired setting that’s not our own world! If it needs to be set in our own world (at least speculatively), then futuristic. Essentially, I usually prefer fantasy to futuristic science fiction, and prefer futuristic sci-fi to realistic historical fiction.
Opening or Closing Chapter
Opening, I think. I love a good closing chapter too, whether reading or writing, but it’s bittersweet. :’)
Light and Fluffy or Dark and Gritty
Dark and fluffy! (I’d also be interested to see a work which could be classified as light and gritty - no idea what that would look like.)
Animal Companion or Found Family
It depends on the definition of ‘found family’ being used here. I don’t generally use that term myself, since it can be defined in a couple of different ways (along with my having various other issues with it). So - I guess we’re going with animal companion!
Horror or Romance
I don’t typically enjoy either, though there are exceptions, and I like incorporating elements of both into works in other genres sometimes. Going with horror because there I think there are more exceptions for that than for romance.
Hard Magic System or Soft Magic System
Well… In terms of what I enjoy creating, hard magic system, absolutely. That said, when I get deeply into worldbuilding I never get around to writing an actual story. :’) So in practice, I end up writing mostly soft magic systems with the implication that there *are* rules involved; they’re just staying behind the scenes.
Stand-alone or Series
Trilogies are usually about right for me! Long enough to really spend time with the characters, short enough to avoid things dragging on too much.
One Project at a Time or Always Juggling 2+
Typically one main active project at a time plus a few on the backburner.
One Award Winner or One Best Seller
Neither - no interest in traditional publishing. I’d have to change too much about what I want to write for it to appeal to the publishing industry.
Fantasy or Sci-Fi
Fantasy! …I have nothing to elaborate on here.
Character Description or Setting Description
I like both, but setting description takes the cake. I love writing scenery. :D Have been thinking about adding more of the former to my story, because I do like writing it, but I also like leaving some details of my characters’ appearances up to the reader’s imagination.
First Draft or Final Draft
Boy howdy I’d love to have a final draft one day. :’)
Tagging @crash-bump-bring-the-whump , @whumpinthepot , @whump-in-the-closet , and @whumpsday if you feel like doing it - no pressure!

So my read of “Time Warp” and it’s place in, like, the greater picture of ‘Rocky Horror’, is that... it’s almost like a microcosm of the whole show in a way? You take a piece of 50′s-60′s kitsch (Horror\Sci-Fi B-Movies for all of Rocky Horror, silly dance crazes for the Time Warp) and you, well, warp it through a 70′s sexy countercultural lense. Time Warp’s vaugely sci-fi time-travel theme isn’t that out of place with actual 60′s dance crazes when you consider the Monster Mash and the Martian Hop exist, but the fact that it prominently features pelvic thrust as one of it’s main moves gives it a bit more of a sexual undertone.
The big common theme of the verses is to, like, exaggerate the tone in which these dance-craze-song talk about the dances to a comedic level. So instead of the song going “oh do this dance it’s so fun!” it’s “this dance is the only thing that is keeping me sane, it’s like a dream, it literally transformed me into a being that cannot sense time!”.
And each spesific verse has one of Frank’s entourage do their silly praise of the Time Warp by comparing it to something thats:
A. Weird to Compare a Dance To B. Somehow on the theme of 70′s Counterculture C. Relevant to their character.
If we start with Riff-Raff’s verse:
Tumblr media
This is... drug imagery. Specifically alcoholism (”Drinking those moments when\the blackness would hit me”). Now, Rocky Horror is surprisingly more coy in its references to Drugs compared to it’s trio partner, Sex and Rock’n’roll... but those that exist do tend to center around Riff-Raff: the “Flow Morphia slow” line in ‘Over the Frankenstein’s Place’, “He thought you were the candy man” was apparently in reference to an old euphemism for a drug dealer, you can catch him down an entire bottle of wine when the characters go to the lab...
Tumblr media
Riff-Raff’s verse is about comparing the Time Warp to a drug. Cause those are both ways he tries to hold on to his sanity against the general misery and dismay of his life.
Magenta’s verse is also interesting:
Tumblr media
First, I will remind everyone that Riff’s the one who sing the “you’re under sedation” part of the verse. Again, comparing the Time Warp to a drug is kinda his Thing.
Meanwhile, Magenta’s thing is more... I guess you can like this verse to her habit of spying on people via the castle’s security cameras, but I think it’s more about fiction? And probably spesifically movies. I mean, when you watch a movie, you’re like a voyeur from another universe, watching everything while being totally unseen. It’s often compared to a dream or a freeing fantasy. (And since in the stage version, Magenta generally shares an actress with the Usherette that sings Science Fiction/Double Feature, you can say that there IS literally a version of Magenta in another dimension watching all of this unfold). Movies are known for playing with one’s sense of time... and that’s exactly why Magenta’s comparing it to dancing the Time Warp.
The connection to the 70′s\counterculture theme is a bit more loose compared to her brother Riff-Raff, but she is framing watching movies\doing the Time Warp as a very surrealist and kinda sexual (’with voyeuristic intention’) thing, which is pretty out-of-step with the kind of meanstream culture at the time . For her both dancing and movies are a way to mess with her sense of reality.
Columbia’s verse is the most obvious in regards to her character:
Tumblr media
Columbia compares the Time Warp to love, or maybe sex. probably both. This is clearly deeply relevant to her character and also easy to connect with the fun and thrill of the Time Warp Dance. I think here, time ‘meaning nothing’ refers to the hedonistic lifestyle she’s leading. Time means nothing when you’re only living for the now. I know some people like to debate whatever the snake-of-a-guy is talking about Eddie or Frank, but...
I actually think... if we are to look at this verse as a literal thing that happened to her, it makes more sense if it’s just Some Guy? Like, this is just Columbia talking about she got introduced to the counterculture and probably about her first casual sexual encounter, it doesn’t have to be about someone she actually loves right now. Comparing a dance to falling in love is honestly a bit too Normal for theme and also I have a hard time imagining either Eddie or Frank driving a pickup track.

More for the tag, the Rani!
Yey, she! 🥰
1: sexuality headcanon - aroace, absolutely; she did have sex, but purely for science, in different bodies, and ended up visiting Tiresias to tell him You were absolutely correct, here's the comparison chart of my neurotransmitter levels with a vulva vs. with a penis, as you can see the former are significantly more favourable
2: otp - well, since I headcanon her as aroace I don't really ship her with anyone; she does have a queerplatonic crush on Marie Curie-Skłodowska, though
3: brotp - the Master; he always had a lot of respect for her brains and she, for all the exasperation with thoschei courtship, was there when the Doctor first left Gallifrey and made sure the Master got a supply of tissues and chocolate ice cream and stayed hydrated throughout his breakdown
4: notp - again, kind of everyone unless it's for science
5: first headcanon that pops into my head - she took every major computer age sci-fi writer to early 2020s so they can juxtapose their AI apocalypse predictions with Chat GTP claiming there are no countries starting with "K" in Africa and pornbots evolving from sexy women to vaguely confusing urls with somewhat dorky avatars; she does that by the end of their lives, same as Nine told Dickens the future, so there's no timeline mess, and it's not cruelty on her part inasmuch as watching their faces go from shock through confusion to despair to shy hope the apocalypse is not coming so soon after all - all for science
6: favorite line from this character - Can't you get it into your warped skull that there is nothing deliberate about it? The aggression is an unfortunate side effect; am sure the victims were relieved to know that 🙃 but you also can't deny the logic
7: one way in which I relate to this character - team heartless bitches who can't feel anything until their intellectual criteria are met
8: thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character - I'm not going to pretend 80s sci-fi fashion isn't giving me a headache and she's the Kate Moss of the style
9: cinnamon roll or problematic fave? - problematic fave? I guess? look it's all for science?

Different anon but I recently watched crash because of your james spader posting and I loved it!! I also am exclusively picturing daniel as him now, he’s the perfect face claim. Also would love to hear your film recs!
yessss, it's such an insane movie, it's SO good! and it's not vampire-relevant at all but somehow a man who chases vampires and dates one and a man who chases the sexual thrill of car accidents are just two sides of the same coin imo
(and he is perfect, right?? welcome to the club 🥹)
so my offical spader recs are:
Sex Lies and Videotape
Spader plays Graham, a gentle weirdo who is impotent and has a kink for interviewing women about their sex lives and then watching the videos of said interviews back when he's alone.
watch it for: the interviewing the impotency combo have huge vampire!daniel vibes. he's so non-threatening, so politely weird, so eager to lie back and let a pretty auburn haired person touch his face. 100% molloy vibes.
Crash
you've already seen this, anon, but for anyone who hasn't: Spader is James Ballard, a guy who gets into a car accident and discovers a whole underground culture of weirdos who are horny for car crashes, and keep escalating their dangerous sex acts to find new thrills
watch it for: listen this movie is so outrageously horny and all about putting other people's lives at risk to get your own thrill, and if that isn't vampire adjacent i don't know what is. also the wife of spader's character is so emotionally flat and full of clinical vocabulary. the scene with her and spader in bed, talking about him sleeping with a man- it's armand and daniel, just trust me.
Secretary
a CLASSIC. he's the original Mr. Grey, deeply repressed dom who hires maggie gyllenhal as his secretary and ends up in a bdsm relationship with her. it's a very sweet movie with lots of kink, it's a lot of fun.
watch it for: the theme of letting your guard down and being fully understood. he's not at his most molloy here, but it's just a great film and gives you lots to think about in terms of what constitutes a relationship and letting another person in.
Dream Lover
Spader has a one night stand turned marriage with Madchen Amick, with all sorts of psychological twists and guessing games about who is the insane one and who is lying about their entire life.
watch it for: he's gorgeous, the sex scenes are 🥵 and if you squint you can blur Madchen Amick into looking like Armand lol he goes from gentle lover to mentally unhinged to murderer and looks beautiful the whole time, what else do you want?
Jack's Back
i don't even know how to explain this movie except to say that it's an 80's serial killer flick that's so bad it's good. Spader plays twins so you get to see him as the good boy and the bad boy here.
watch it for: the twin he plays in the first 1/4 of the movie is very molloy, so sweet and flirty and dedicated to his job. he does a lot of great eye rolling and arguing and then gets into the most weirdly kinky bad spot before his brother shows up. lots of nice shots of spader bloody, sweaty, smoking, exhausted, or some combination of all four. pure 80s trash but molloy adjacent in that he's a beautiful eyeful getting into trouble.
Bad Influence
More schlock in which Spader strikes up a friendship with bad boy Rob Lowe and gets his life ruined/is convinced to do some awful shit before embarking on a quest for revenge.
watch it for: Spader looking gorgeous in glasses, starting out innocent and then doing lots of unhinged things. it's more 'so bad it's good' stuff and seeing him be gentle but also get violent gives me so many thoughts about vampire daniel.
Stargate
A sci-fi flick in which he plays a physics nerd who is able to open a portal to another planet. Basically ancient aliens meets terminator.
watch it for: his character is literally named daniel and he's so sweetly passionate about his science stuff/ancient languages, very 'daniel molloy: pupil of marius' tbh
Other fun movies, but which are scraping the bottom of the barrel in terms of quality or how often he appears:
•Tuff Turf (he is SO pretty in this one) •Cocaine: One Man's Seduction (watch a compilation of his scenes via youtube for some 80's daniel/angry daniel fodder) •Pretty in Pink (he's a wealthy 80s bad boy who's only in part of the film, the visuals are nice for picturing Night Island Daniel) •The New Kids (an awful movie in which hs plays an awful person but he gets covered in blood and has the kinkiest scene where he gets tied up, when you see it you'll know) •A Killer in the Family (more god awful stuff, but he's so so pretty and so permanently annoyed I couldn't look away) •Storyville (so, so dry but the jiujitsu scene and the kiss scene with the lawyer lady are worth seeing) •Curtain Call (really, really hard to hunt down but it's a cute romcom where he lives in a haunted house and is permanently annoyed, also him dancing with his love interest is so sweet and lovely i'm still picturing armand and daniel dancing like that)
I think this breaks down 80% of his filmography lol But really, watch sex lies and videotape, crash, and secretary for sure!! The rest are just excellent oggling material/potential smut inspo ♥

Get To Know My OC Tag - Ms. Psychic Edition
Jumping in on my own open tag because I really like this method of introducing characters. Also, I figured it was about time I talk about the other title character for The Magician and Ms. Psychic. Check out April's character intro HERE.
First, since this got pretty long, I'd like to leave this as an open tag for whoever else wants to introduce one of their characters. Don't be shy about tagging me! I love hearing about people's characters!
Now, without any further ado, here's Ms. Psychic!
Tumblr media
We are experiencing technical difficulties. Please come back later!
The bold text fades from the screen to reveal the news anchor, slightly disheveled, but otherwise fine.
"Thank you for sticking with us, everybody," he addresses the camera with his usual made-for-tv smile. "I'm pleased to announce that the Magician has been taken care of, all thanks to our extra special surprise guest, Ms. Psychic!"
Ms. Psychic enters on cue, her brink pink cape billowing behind her in the non-existent wind and her long black hair floating up in the air as though she was underwater. Her movements are stiff and awkward as she shuffles forwards, and she regards the camera with the same sort of suspicious squint she might give to a misbehaving supervillain. Gravity seemingly takes a hold of her as she sinks into the seat next to the news anchor, and she has to brush a few rogue strands of hair away from her face.
"Um... hi." She gives the camera a hesitant little wave.
"Ms. Psychic has agreed to answer a few questions for us tonight!" The new anchor announces gleefully. "Are we ready to get started?"
"Sure." She nods slowly. "Let's..." Her voice catches in her throat. "Let's make this quick, please."
"Of course." The news anchor flashes her a smile. "Onto the first question."
1. Are you named after anyone?
"My mom was a small time superhero. She... well..." Ms. Psychic exhales sharply. "She died in action when I was a kid, and I took on her name as a way to honor her."
2. When was the last time you cried?
"I guess it was pretty recently. I mean... I try not to dwell on it too much, but fighting supervillains is dangerous, and... well..." She hesitates. "You can't always save everyone, you know? It's just... kind of hard to deal with that sometimes."
3. Do you have kids?
"No. I'm... not sure I should, either. I'd be risking some supervillain finding out about them and putting them in danger."
4. Do you use sarcasm?
"Sometimes, I guess."
5. What's the first thing you notice about people?
"Their voice. You can tell a lot about someone by the way they speak."
6. What's your eye color?
"They're dark brown."
7. Scary movies or happy endings?
"Happy endings, definitely. I especially love those campy old sci-fi movies."
8. Any special talents?
She has to think about this question for a moment. "Um... I can bench press a hundred and forty pounds."
9. Where were you born?
"I was born and raised right here in Metrovale."
10. What are your hobbies?
"I don't have that much free time for hobbies. I guess I like going to the gym? It's good for stress relief, and I've got to stay in shape somehow."
11. Have you any pets?
"No. Like I said, I don't have much free time to devote to something like taking care of a pet."
12. What sports do you play/have played?
"I played softball when I was a kid. I really liked it, but I had to stop when my powers started manifesting. I was upset at the time, but it wouldn't have been fair to the other kids with the whole telekinesis thing, so..." Ms. Psychic shrugs. "It was for the best."
13. How tall are you?
"I'm five foot two."
14. Favorite subject in school?
"I always liked science class. I think my favorite was biology."
15. Dream job?
"I've wanted to be a superhero ever since I was a kid. It doesn't exactly pay the bills, but I don't mind the side gig."
"And that was the last question," the news anchor says. "Thank you so much for joining us here tonight."
"N... no problem. Now, if you'll excuse me-" Ms. Psychic rises to her feet, her chair carefully pushing itself in as she takes a step back - "I've got some business to attend to."

Hey bro do you have any book recs?
*Sci fi or realistic fiction, minimal romance? I guess? Ex of books I like: project hail mary, on earth as it is on television, a quiet kind of thunder, lycanthropy and other chronic illnesses, stuff like that yknow?
Admittedly I have not read any of the books you listed but 2 of them are on my tbr
But here goes:
First I've got 2 realistic fiction stories about trans characters
The Art of Being Normal by Lisa Williamson
This one has two trans characters trying to navigate both their trans identities and also high school. There's a minute where it seems like they might date but iirc they work out better as friends or something (its been a while since I read this one because I leant it to a trans friend and while it was relatable for me it was punch-in-the-gut relatable to her from page one so I've decided it's her book now lol)
Beautiful Music For Ugly Children by Kristin Cronn-Mills
I need to read this again I barely remember anything about it just that it's 100% worth the read. Also it won the Stonewall book award
Next up I got some straight up High fantasy which is not what you asked for but I can't not recommend it because it might be my all time favorite book
The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon
The world building here is so incredible!!!! The story actually follows 4/5 separate people in different parts of the world and slowly weave each individual tale into one cohesive narrative that I personally believe is a work of brilliance. One main character is a young lesbian, another is an old guy, and another is aroace. Romance specifically isn't really a main plot point at all but there are a few romantic relationships that exist/develop and the book does a fantastic job exploring the depths and nuances of relationships and how they can affect people (romantic or plantonic). Also dragons and magic and some cool legends/myths/religions to be untangled and interpretted!!!
I absolutely love Samantha Shannon so I have also read her other books from The Bone Season series which are much more sci-fi but also a lot darker and have a much more prevalent romance between the main character and an alien. The series is also not yet finished so for all those reasons I'm not sure if it would be up your alley or not
Okay lastly some sci-fi fantasy
The Locked Tomb series by Tamsyn Muir
(Gideon the Ninth, Harrow the Ninth, Nona the Ninth, and soon Alecto the Ninth)
Okay so this one has a Tumblr Fandom and you've probably seen me posting about it sometimes technically the main two characters are both lesvians and the Fandom ships them but they never get anywhere close to a romantic anything because they hate each other and do their darnedest to piss each other off at every opportunity. There's necromancy but it's approached as science rather than magic which is really cool. There a tense mystery happening the whole time (but there's also an unreliable narrator so it takes her a while to even pick up on it). There are A LOT of catholic undertones and references in the world building and religion but in a very subversive and interesting way. I have to take notes reading these though because I occasionally confuse a few side characters and there's so much foreshadowing and parallels and minute details that can alter you perception of the story (also necromancy being scientific means I occasionally lose track of things there but I think that's just a me issue). All in all though phenomenal series lots of death though....kind of necessary for the whole necromancy aspect
Woooooo okay sorry for the essay that's all I've got for today but if you want more at some point let me know and I'll do my best!!!
Happy reading!!

(sorry if this ask is a little long, I'm having a total 'tism moment rn) Your issue with the all book tie-ins is fair, tbh. I only know about the Mimic via the wikipedia and word of mouth; due to the whole Scott Cawthon Donating Fiasco, I didn't feel comfortable directly accessing/purchasing FNaF stuff (if that makes sense), so as a result I resorted to watching playthroughs and reading up on on the wikipedia.
As a result, I can understand some people being confused about this stuff. Is the mimic a really cool idea? Sure, yeah, but everyone should be able to know about it.
I was thinking a little bit more about the Elevator Ending, and I think... if that is the actual canon ending, there's a very low chance Cassie died. It just doesn't make sense narrative wise- she's such a good character (seriously, I love her, her genuine concern (most of) the animatronics and Gregory, mixed with her funny quips and good VA, makes her a great sort of parallel to Gregory), to kill her off so quickly just feels... wrong.
I'm also... very intrigued about Gregory... And the fact he and, presumably Freddy and Vanessa, do not want to be found/are on the run. While at first, it was a little jarring for him to just. throw Cassie under the bus... I hate to say this, but imo, it feels... kinda in character. He wrecked the rest of the Glamrock Animatronics, and, iirc, in one ending of SB, he indirectly kills Vanny. So... was it a jerk move to do that to Cassie? Of course. Was it in-character?... Kind of? I guess? It can be debatable.
Anyways, I can't wait to see what else is dug up in the DLC. And I do hope we get more answers.
dw abt the long ask, i love hearing people talk abt things they're passionate abt and hearing other opinions!! /gen
but i agree w/ almost every point you've made here- i dont feel comfortable putting my money into FNAF stuff considering. as a bi trans guy, kkindof just feels. wrong to fund donations toward things going toward horrible causes (and while im not american, i dont want to fund that either way), but regardless of that, casual viewers really shouldn't. have to research a fuck ton just to understand RUIN
my problem with the mimic is. he just doesn't make sense. and it takes ALOT away from vanny, who i thought would be the main antagonist from here onwards (and i can't imagine how dissapointed vannessa fans are right now). i just can't wrap my head around the mimic or any of the science fiction stuff- and i admit i'm with the crowd missing when FNAF was a simple horror game with ghosts and murders, even moreso now that RUIN's decided to go the route of being a jumble of sci-fi that explains nothing about the story at all
i do agree with the elevator ending and gregory points though! cassie is a brilliant character and i doubt she's dead, and the elevator ending was actually pretty damn cool! the visuals were great and gregory's sudden heel-turn betrayal was super interesting and shocking!
my only wish with RUIN from this point onwards is that it. explains everything in detail and that it utilizes eclipse because goddamnit they did not just introduce him only to never use him he's such a good character im still SO mad that he only got 5 minutes. again.
i'm super excited to see what else is dug up too and i'm hopeful that we'll get answers!!
(also just watched the scooper ending and it doesn't make sense either this DLC needs to explain things stg. what the hell was that what was any of that i do NOT understand a second of this)

I have not forgotten about Stargate! I’m just really slow 😂 But I’m so ready to see our heroes once more and (hopefully) a new planet! Season 1, Episode 10, let’s go:
Oh boy, report time!(sarcasm) Jack looks like he has my level of enthusiasm.
Ooo more aliens!
WHAT is with the pictures being used for illustration 😂 Yes, we’re talking about Thor, so here’s some 90s sci-fi book covers to prove our point.
Teal’c with the insider knowledge for the win!
This sounds ominous.
Daniel is so eager - got his friendship box and just leaving the rest of the team behind lol
I’m unclear why the people at the gate are laughing? Their exit wasn’t that funny.
Um, team? Now might be the time to get away from the humming giant hammer.
A scanner?
No! Teal’c!
Whoops, there goes Jack too!
Why did everyone run away? Shouldn’t they be less afraid after the magic scanning hammer?
Wow, Daniel, just ‘they’re dead’?? That’s a leap 😲
Ah, they ran to get their leader.
“You’re a little short for gods.” Aw, I like her.
Sam On A Mission.
Not dead, yay! It would be hard to keep going with a show that just killed off half their main cast.
Ugh. Could have done without the Junior Check.
Did Thor just beam in?
Wait, is this a voice mail?
Yeah, that’s not a person.
Wait, I thought the hammer was at the stargate? How many hammers are there?
‘Hall of Mohair’ Okay, that’s pretty good and now all I can think of is a cavern lined with records and ‘70s outfits. And a giant hammer.
Wait, what are the hand thingys? Have we seen those before? I don’t remember them? It has been a while since I watched this show.
Didn’t even say thank you! How rude.
Ooo former Goa’uld, got it. Oh, that’s what the second hammer does! Not great news for Teal’c, though.
Hey, that’s right! They can just run all the Goa’uld through the hammer like an assembly line. Problem solved!
What the heck is that?! Some form of alien crocodile?
Those horns don’t look very efficient for drinking tbh
That’s a convenient thunderstorm for omens.
The cave broke the fire stick?!? Truly this is a terrible day.
Teal’c’s onboard with the Goa’uld Assembly Line Plan, too. Good, I think he has the most common sense out of our intrepid quartet.
I’m getting the sense that Sam is not the diplomat here 😂
Well, that’s good news! At least one host survived and connived her way out.
Good thing they came on a day with a thunderstorm.
Is that the Creature From the Black Lagoon?
“Weapons are of no use here.” Jack promptly fills him with lead. Nice.
What is The First One? First of what? First Goa’uld?
Ooo, guess lead is not a successful deterrent.
Vampire Goa’uld! A concept I did not know I needed, but am very happy to have. Imagine if this is what Dracula looked like, but Jonathan thought he had a skin condition and it would be Rude to comment about it, especially since he was a Client.
Of course Teal’c, you also thought the Vampire Goa’uld did not exist... gotta say this conversation is not super comforting, guys. Although the little beat before Teal’c says ‘I think’ was hilarious. Also Jack’s quip about putting a stake through it’s heart.
Aw, Daniel is so sweet on his wife. I hope she does show back up. And gets some lines.
Yeah, I’m going with he’s not dead, guys. Should have tried the stake.
That’s a really cool dam scene! Aquifer? Something with water. It’s a neat set piece.
Sam and Daniel arguing feels like a disturbance in the force.
Weapons can’t kill him, but they sure do slow him down.
Team Science Nerds found it!!
Hm, this looks like a pretty official cave room. Sadly no mohair records, though.
Did Jack forget about the second hammer thing?
AH
Okay, found the second hammer thing. Poor Teal’c.
I’m so glad Space Vampire gets a villain monologue. I feel like we don’t get those in shows anymore.
Come on,shoot him just a little further into the painful red hammer thing!
No! Teal’c!
Ah, Jack to the rescue.
Team: 1. Space Vampires: 0.
Not that this family moment isn’t sweet, but couldn’t they just knock a hole in a cave wall or something and patch it up once everyone’s out? Like there’s no time limit with the Goa’uld Vampire gone, they could go back to Earth for help and explosives.
Poor Daniel.
Did they just leave this world unprotected?
Okay, at least they’re thinking about this as well.
And Daniel gets to share his box! He’s so excited.
Rating: 🔘🔘🔘🔘
4/5 Gates New planet, potential for new aliens (possibly coming back in the future if the thundercloud is to be believed and Thor gets Daniel’s box?), Space Vampire, learned some more lore, what more could I ask for? The cave did take the fire stick out of commission, which is just a crime, in my opinion. Also, I think I’m holding out on 5/5 gates for something truly status quo changing. But overall a really good episode, I enjoyed it!
