Bad Timing
Warnings: Endometriosis, Passing Out, Vomiting
A/N: IDK how good it is, can’t decide if I like it or not but yeah…. (also I tried to make this as accurate as possible in terms of the medical things but IDK)
Tumblr media
It was your first Lionesses camp, which you were dreading, if you weren't nervous enough your period was due during this camp, and to say it wasn’t easy was a massive understatement, you had just recently been diagnosed with endometriosis, after what felt like years of being told you were over dramatic. You were rooming with Leah, Sarina had said something about “broadening horizons” or something by switching up the rooms slightly, it meant nothing to you, it was your first camp. However this made you more nervous and scared about getting your period. Leah was really nice and kind, and you really enjoyed playing at Arsenal with her and you always took on any tips she had for you, but you were worried she would see you as weak after seeing how you were on your period. You knew she also had endometriosis and for the one and a half years you have been at arsenal she had not once taken a day off, making you feel like you just weren’t strong enough. You missed training almost once a month and Beth even forced you to pull out of a game one day, insisting she stayed with you missing the game as well. To be fair Leah had done her ACL a week before you signed for arsenal however you still never once heard her complain about it.
Training had been going well, even though you had a dull ache in your abdomen and you had a headache, you knew it meant you would be getting your period pretty soon but you thought you would be in clear at least for now and that you could make it through training, you just had to try and ignore the pain, that had slowly been increasing in intensity.
You were having a drink when a hand was placed on your shoulder, “do you have another pair of shorts?” It was Leah, “no,” you replied quietly trying not to cry, how did you manage to not bring a spare pair, of course this happened, you had travelled from your hotel on the bus to training so it wasn't like you could just go up to your room. “Okay, well why don’t you go to the locker room and I’ll just tell Sarina what is happening and then I’ll come to you, I have a spare pair.” “I should probably go get my tablets from the medics” “Do you-” you cut her off with a nod knowing what she was going to say before a wave of stabbing cramps caused you to hunch over slightly and clutch at your stomach. “It’s okay, I will do all of that, you just go to the locker room.” you nodded before you turned around and walked into the locker room.
Leah had noticed things not many people would, first it was how you missed a training session from the same week 3 months in a row, then it was the fact that you bled through more than you would’ve liked, and the last one was that you would always sit with your knees to your chest in meetings and breaks during the week that your day off fell into.
____
“Sarina, I think Y/N has just started her period, I’m just coming to tell you because she needs to change her shorts and doesn't have any but I do, so I was just going to go with her.” Leah says as she walked over to Sarina, who nodded before walking away from the other girls getting Leah to follow her, “She has endometriosis, the medics have her tablets and from what her doctors reports say it gets bad, it’s only a friendly, I might get someone to take you both back to the hotel, so we can make a judgement on how we approach this long term, I don’t want to risk her health. Are you okay with that?”
“Yeah, I think that might be good. Thank you” “No, thank you Leah. I know you will take good care of her, it might not just be a coincidence that you are her roommate.”
____
Once you got into your room you changed out of your training gear and Leah went down with one of the medics so she could get some things you may need.
Once you had changed you started to walk over to your bed when a shooting pain ran down your back and legs sending you to the floor. You were curled up on the floor of your room, holding your stomach tightly, just wishing Leah came back soon, maybe she could help. You really hated how your periods just started like a tidal wave, giving you no time to prepare. You felt like someone was squeezing and twisting your uterus, whilst your back cramped.
“Oh tiny,” Leah said sympathetically as she walked back into the room, she placed the items she had gotten on the bed before she crouched down in front of you.
“Do you want me to move you to the bed?” you gave her a weak nod, and she placed a hand on your shoulder before rolling you over slightly so she could pick you up, the slight movement caused you to whimper before the swift movement of her picking you up caused a heavy stream of tears to fall from your eyes, “I know, I know, I’m sorry”. She gently placed you down in the middle of your bed, before getting in next to you, her upper body was propped up slightly from the pillows as she laid down next to you. She silently handed you a hot water bottle which you placed on your stomach before curling up into a ball on top of her, your head resting on her chest. “Do you want one on your back too or no? I can keep it there,” “yes please,” you said weakly, she grabbed it and softly placed it on your back before holding it there.
“I have a sick bag if you need it, and please ask me for anything at all, I promise I wont judge you, I just want to help.” you just nodded slightly and she wrapped her free hand around you, you managed to fall asleep but even asleep Leah could tell you were still in pain.
____
“How is she, is she okay?” Beth panicked as she rushed into your room concerned for her favourite little person, she had obviously been informed by Sarina or one of the other staff. You had known Beth since you were born, you were very close family friends, your Dad’s knew each other from when they were young kids and even though you were 11 years younger than her you both always got along well. So when you moved to Arsenal it was a no-brainer that you would move in with her and Viv, it also meant they would have someone living with them to help. When her Mum died it hit you hard, June had been a big part of your life, always looking after you for your parents when their work caused them to be away, she would always show up to your weekend games if she was available and even came to your grandparents day at school, when your grandparents couldn't come but you didn't want your parents to go, when the teacher suggested you could bring an adult friend you had asked her and she happily accepted.
“Yeah she is okay, I think she is in a lot of pain though, it's kind of worrying me,” Leah said as she looked at you, noticing a fear tears were now leaving your eyes even as you slept.
“y/n” Leah softly said as she brushed her hand against your cheek causing your eyes to flutter open, “Beth is here,” you opened your eyes to see Beth sitting on Leah’s bed, “Can I go to the toilet?” “Sure, do you want me to help?” you nodded shyly and Beth helped you off Leah before steadying you as you walked into the bathroom, just as you entered the bathroom, you felt light headed and dizzy, everything was going blurry and there was a ringing in your ears.
“Beth-” your voice was laced with panic and pain “It’s okay, don’t worry, let's just sit on the floor,” Beth said calmly as she lowered you to the floor knowing what was going to happen, as soon as you were on the floor your body went limp against Beth’s and everything went black. “It’s okay, you’re okay, we’re here, we’ve got you,” you heard Beth say as you came back to, opening your eyes slowly so they knew, “Are you okay?” you shook your head as you closed your eyes again. All your body weight was still being supported by Beth, as you took some deep breaths “do you think you might be sick?” you nodded your head, and Leah quickly got the sick bag from the bed and handed it to Beth, “I’ve got a bag, okay. You’re going to be okay though, I promise, I’ve got you, no matter what happens,” Beth reassured you, a few minutes had passed and thankfully you hadn't been sick yet. “Are they always this bad?” Leah asked to which you nodded slightly before letting your head fall back against Beth’s shoulder, she brushed away the pieces of hair that were stuck to your forehead before giving you a small kiss on your forehead.
“Have-” Beth shook her head, “They wont do anything more Leah, we’ve been to extensive appointments, she is too young for them to look into more drastic things yet apparently, and due to her age she is limited on the strength and type of painkillers she is on but some months they are a bit better but they also can get a lot worse.”

The Scar
Another Miguel O Hara x female reader, with suspense !
Tumblr media
Miguel had been acting weird for several weeks.
Ever since he had returned early from his seminar. In the middle of the night, he'd slipped into bed and kissed her like he hadn't seen her in forever.
It didn't bother Y/N. It had been a while since Miguel really touched her, according to him too tired from his work.
He had apologized that night, saying that he missed her, that he had asked to change his hours to spend more time with her, before repeating again and again that he loved her.
It was adorable, but it was also a bit weird.
There was something different about him, and Y/N couldn't figure out what.
The idea that he was cheating on her came quickly. Miguel was acting like a man who clearly had something to be ashamed of. Something bad.
Of course, all women would have been delighted to have their husbands look at them as he looked at her now. That their husbands come home early to cook dinner, give them a massage, listen to how their day went, kiss them passionately while whispering words of love in Spanish.
But it was really not in Miguel's habits.
Even at the start of their relationship, he had never really been romantic. Y/N remembered him telling her that it made sense for them to be together when they graduated, since they were both brilliant.
She liked to believe that he had loved her, at one point, then the routine had set in, and they had stayed together because it was easier.
All these gifts and kisses, it was really not normal.
It didn't take Y/N long to suspect that Miguel was having an affair with his colleague, Doctor Daniels. They had worked on a lot of projects, he talked about her often, and they went on business trips together.
She was beautiful, young and intelligent. Y/N didn't stand a chance against her.
Despite his promise to be here more often, there were always late nights when he came home. She imagined quickly that he was not always in the office, which she checked very quickly.
One evening, she woke up while he was getting dressed. He seemed embarrassed to see her in the hallway.
"Mi amor. Did I wake you up ? Forgive me, there was a problem in the office, a toxin leak, I have to go."
He kissed her so tenderly that Y/N wanted to cry watching him close the door.
A phone call to Alchemax was enough to know that there was no problem, and that nobody had called Miguel. Quickly checking, many of the dates and times were inconsistent with his schedule.
After pain and sorrow came anger. Knowing her husband well, Y/N knew there was no reason to stay and try to talk to him. So she took her things and went to stay in a hotel for the night.
She still wasn't asleep when someone knocked the next morning, and it was a surprise to see Miguel. Not only did he have no way of knowing where she was, she hadn't even thought he would be looking for her.
Visibly distraught, he took her in his arms as soon as she opened the door.
"Y/N ! Are you okay ? I came home and you were gone ! I was so scared, I thought… Why are you here ? Was there a problem Someone came to the house ? You…"
"There was no toxin leak."
"… What ?"
"There was no toxin leak in your office. Miguel, I know you're lying to me. I know you… I know you're cheating on me."
"What ?" he repeated again, looking as much annoyed as hurt. "No. Never ! I would never cheat on you, I love you ! I only love you."
"Please… I'm not stupid. You tell me you're going to work, and your office tells me you're not there. So where are you, uh ? What are you doing ? It's Why you've been so nice lately, so I don't get suspicious ? Because you're remorseful ? Because you're…"
"I'm Spiderman."
Y/N had heard of Spiderman, like everyone in Nueva York. A hero who could walk on the ceiling, and who fought crime.
Her first reaction was to laugh, then Miguel squirted a web from his handle that stuck a lamp to the wall and she agreed to listen.
He promised her that he had never cheated on her. He loved her more than anything, he would die for her, and he would never hurt her. The nights he was out and not working, he was saving lives. He hadn't told her, because he didn't want to worry her, or for her to take him for a monster.
"Okay, it's a bit special that you can pull stuff out of your arms and swing from building to building, but it's nothing monstrous."
"Actually… My DNA was altered on multiple levels, resulting in multiple physical changes."
"Is that why you look taller and more muscular ?"
"No. Yes ! I mean, a bit, but I'm not talking about that. It's… My teeth. My eyes, my hands, my legs…"
"I don't see anything weird with your eyes or your hands."
Since the beginning of their conversation, Miguel seemed really uncomfortable, but this moment was really the most complicated for him. His eyes were filled with fear as they turned red, he showed Y/N his sharp canines, and his fingernails turned into claws.
"…Wow. You look like a big cat."
"Amor, I don't look like a big cat." mumbled Miguel, blushing, lunging at her to tickle her when she tried to scratch his ear.
It could have ended there. Y/N would give everything for things to end there, because it was a very good explanation, Miguel loved her, he had promised her that there would be no more lies, and everything was fine.
A party organized by Alchemax and several glasses of champagne changed that, when Doctor Daniels approached with a strange smile, while Miguel had gone to the toilet.
"You and your husband look very happy."
"We are, thank you."
"Yeah. He didn't say that. We were happy too, you know ? The best years of my life. A real beast in bed, caliente. Then one day, nothing. He dumped me like trash. I guess he's found someone better. I thought it was nice to let you know."
"Mi amor ?"
Miguel watched her run away, not glancing at Doctor Daniels. He followed her easily, catching up with her in an alley and hugging her to calm her down, leaving her to hit him sobbing and screaming.
He hadn't heard what Doctor Daniels had said to put her in such a state, and when she repeated it to him, he seemed to go mad with rage. Because his honor was touched, but also because he couldn't bear to see Y/N cry.
"I'm going to kill her ! I've never had an affair with this woman, ever ! She's lying, she's crazy !"
"Don't lie to me." Y/N cried, still clinging to him.
"I swear to you, mi amor. Never. Not with her, not with anyone else."
In the following days, there were several elements that indicated that Miguel was telling the truth. First, there was no message exchanged between him and Doctor Daniels, despite the incessant assertions of the latter, who did not understand why she could not find them. No photo or video of them either.
At the office, no one thought they were more than co-workers who got along well. Miguel O Hara had the reputation of being a serious man, a little angry, selfish and focusing mainly on his research.
The only moment captured by Alchemax's surveillance cameras was when Doctor Daniels approached Miguel to ask him why they were no longer together, and if there was any chance they could see each other again.
Miguel remained cold, distant, politely asking her to leave him alone, repeating to her that there had never been anything between them, and that there never would be anything, because he only loved his wife.
This made Doctor Daniels laugh, who touched his arm, before trying to kiss him.
Jumping up from his chair, Miguel looked at her in disgust, forbidding her to approach him.
The incident trickled down to the bosses, which brought all the previous research and proved that Dr. Daniels had a little problem with her obsession with her colleague, who was not at all interested. She was fired.
This did not please her at all, and since she could not get her lover back, and had lost her job, Doctor Daniels insisted on destroying the married couple.
She called Y/N, texted her, followed her to work and home, telling her over and over that she'd shared Miguel's bed for years.
Maybe he never really liked her, because this guy was obviously not able to love anyone but himself, and he was too afraid for his reputation to admit it, but it was the truth.
"I can prove it !" cried Dr. Daniels hysterically, banging on Y/N's car window. "I know what he likes to eat ! I've driven his car before ! He told me about his brother."
"That's not evidence. Please leave me." Y/N begged her as she tried to start.
"He's got a scar on his back ! How do I know that, huh ? Miguel hates bathing, he doesn't undress in public, it's tiny because it was just a little fall from a horse when he was a kid. How do I know that ?!"
Y/N felt her heart race, as she tried to breathe normally, because indeed, Miguel had a scar, and hardly anyone knew about it. It was in the middle of his back, you could feel it by running your hand over his skin.
She then thought of two things.
Dr. Daniels wasn't lying.
And since his early return from his seminar and his change in behavior, she had passed her hand several times on her husband's back, without feeling this tiny scar.
In the middle of Miguel's back, there was nothing. Nothing at all.
Repeating this to herself, Y/N invited Dr. Daniels to come with her to the house, where Miguel was cooking dinner.
He was surprised to see them, and even more surprised when she calmly asked him to take off his shirt and show his back, while Daniels was screaming hysterically, ordering him to show them his scar and then confess.
He didn't look at the doctor once, his eyes fixed on Y/N, who was only looking at him as well. In his eyes, she could see that he understood why, why Daniels was asking this, but more importantly why Y/N was asking this. He knew that she knew.
Without saying anything, he obeyed and turned around. Dr. Daniels then stopped screaming, freezing.
The back was perfect, tall, muscular. In addition to the noticeable lack of a scar, Y/N noted that he was much taller and more muscular than before, before all of this.
"Well…" Miguel muttered as he got dressed. "Happy ? Excuse me, but I'm only showing the rest to my wife. If you could leave us now."
"I… I don't understand. You had a scar."
"I never had a scar. I never had a relationship with you."
"It's not… You… I think I need to sleep. Excuse me." stammered Doctor Daniels before quickly leaving, leaving them alone.
They stayed like that for a long time, face to face in the kitchen, neither moving nor speaking. Then Miguel sighed, visibly tired and sorry.
He hadn't lied. Not even once. He had simply omitted to say that he wasn't really Miguel, or at least not her Miguel, and that he wasn't the Spiderman of this universe, but of another.
He had seen an opportunity to be happy, after losing his Y/N, and now that her Miguel was gone. Her horrible Miguel, as he called him, who didn't see how lucky he was, who had never known how to treat her right, and who didn't deserve her.
"But I know." he whispered as he approached, shyly taking her hand. "I know I'm lucky to be with you. You're the best thing that's ever happened to me, the only one. I can't live without you. I thought… Maybe you'd be happier without him, that it would be a relief to hear of his passing. But I also thought I could give you all the things he should have given you. I can leave if you want. I love you."
For several weeks, Y/N had been very happy, showered with love and kisses. She had been afraid of being cheated on, but that was no longer the case, not with this Miguel, who loved her.
So she forgot that there had always been a small scar on her husband's back, and she kissed him, telling him that she loved him too.

Finding Peace 🕊️
Content warnings- hospital stay and medical care/ NICU and pre mature infant, fluff, Noah is a sweetheart. They’re totally in love
Summary- the days following the unexpected arrival of their daughter- Noah and Mia find themselves figuring out parenthood
Parings- baby daddy! Noah Sebastian X OC (Mia)
~Chapter eight~ mias pov
Noah wheeled me back you the recovery room as Jolly and Nick were walking down the hall. Bags thrown over their shoulders, flowers in all four hands. Flowers of pink and purple perfume the halls.
“Shes here? How are you Mia?” Jolly says handing me two dozen pink flowers. I bring them to my nose inhaling the sweet scent.
“I’m okay, sore and tired but okay. Shes in the NICU, 4 pounds even. she looks like a baby just small. I’m sure if you guys want to go meet her Noah can take you.” I explain not really feeling up to the million questions that I know they have loaded. “Do you guys want to know her name?”
“Did Noah cry? Thats all I wanna know.” Nick says softly “also we would love to know her name but we should probably wait for the rest of the guys and Jess. They’re downstairs in the gift shop.”
“Okay. She won’t be coming home for a while, doctor said it’ll probably be about 2- 2 1/2 weeks before she’s able to come home.” Noah says, rubbing my shoulder gently. After everyone came up to the room we were finally able to tell them her name. Jess squeals and starts talking about how she’s going to get her little things with her name all over it. Deciding I need to change into clean clothes Noah helps me stand and walk to the bathroom.
“You don’t have to help, I can manage.” I say as he kneels down helping my pull up the bad omens sweatpants, rolling the legs twice so i don’t strip on them.
“I thought we had this talk already. You just had major abdominal surgery, angel. Let me help you, it’s the least I can do” standing to his full height noah cups my cheeks pressing a quick kiss to my lips. "i love you. thank you for giving me our little girl. I just want you to know, that im grateful for everything, your friendship, our daughter, everything. It feels like a weight on my chest but then i look at my girls and it’s lifted, you two are my whole world.”
“Noah- I” my words cut off
“Shh- I know you probably don’t feel the same, and it’s okay. I’m not great with feelings, but I just want you to know. I’m here for you through everything. I care about you so much” grabbing his face I smash my lips to his own, promptly shutting him up.
“I love you too. You’re my best friend but I’m scared to do this parent thing and be jumping into a relationship.” His hands cup my face
“I know, I’ll make you a deal. When we leave here, we’ll go get a nice dinner and have a small date. And we can have dates after coming to the hospital to see Ophelia till she gets out.” A small smile plays on my lips.
Jess and I were the first to head down to the NICU. Tears swell in her eyes. “Hi sweetheart, a little early aren’t we? It’s okay auntie Jess couldn’t wait to meet you either. Your uncles are here they’re going to come see you soon. I just had to be first” Jess says softly fingers caressing the incubator. A soft smile plays along her lips
“Can I tell you something?” I say breaking the silence. Jess looks at me knowing what I’m going to say
“You’re in love with Noah? Hes in love with you too. Babes I’ve known since your car accident. He watched you like a hawk, and to think you didn’t want me meddling in your love life. When I’m the one who found you the love of your life!”
“Thank you for that by the way. I wouldn’t have her if you didn’t. Now I cant imagine my life without them in it. You guys are my family, my parents aren’t here anymore and my grandma past last year so Noah and the guys coming into my life was just so special to me, I got my own little family.” Tears are now streaming down my face. Ophelia’s tiny hands move wiggling around in her bed.
“Babes, we all love you, if Noah makes you happy, go for it. You know he’s not going to let you go anywhere anytime soon. You’ve found your peace. Let yourself be happy. Noah’s a good guy I promise he may seem like an ass on the outside but he’s been burned before, he just has those walls up, granted you’ve seem to be able to walk through them. In all seriousness, go for it. He loves you, I heard him tell you. When you were changing.” Jess sighs pulling me in by the shoulders and rubbing my back.
“I love him Jess. I really do” I whisper into her hair.

the sick dad matty blurb omfg ACE i’m literally unwell at the thought of mopey messy hair matty falling asleep in ur lap and being so flustered at u seeing him like that- brb fucking crying
also speaking of which genuinely insane timing how you always post smth after i’ve had a very long shift i swear theyre really the one thing i look forward to the most after work 😭😭 uninterrupted horizontal time with ur blurbs it’s true it literally is my fav thing-
also perhaps an extension of sick dad! matty but i just can’t shake the idea of teacher reader being worried about him still and asking annie about it at school the next day and annie just randomly drops a bombshell in the way kids do and says smth like ‘oh daddys so much better today! he’s all smiley and said that you chased the bad coughing monster away for him- can you come do that every time? daddy’s never had anyone do that before’ and it just b r e a ks teacher reader completely pls anyways crying throwing up
(- bff anon also has the can’t shut up disease i fear 😭)
OMG, IM GLAD YOU LIKED IT BFF!!! I just need to look after this man.
like imagine he eventually wakes up and its like 9pm at that point so you're like "okay let's get you to bed" and he's all sad and pouty and says "only if you stay over with me" but he's still half asleep and doesn't quite process what he said for a good few seconds...
wide-eyed, he tries to backtrack, "wait- I'm so sorry I didn't mean it like that! obviously, we haven't slept together yet, but- NO, NOT LIKE 'SLEPT TOGETHER' SLEPT TOGETHER!!! I MEANT LIKE JUST SLEEPING!!! ohmygod-"
you're like "no that sounds nice, let's go upstairs," and matty is silently freaking out bc you're gonna be in his bed. with him. sleeping. he's thought about this scenario 1000 times, and none of them included him being dealthy ill and not having nice sheets on the bed first.
(more rambles below the cut as always)
you get matty to brush his teeth and get ready for bed, even rubbing some moisturiser on him (he just sits there with a dopey grin as you apply)
he always thought you'd be on his chest or he'd be spooning you, but he ends up with his face buried between your boobs and he's out within 10 mins.
oh and the morning after... so much potential...
I must have spidey senses for when you're at work bff!!! the fact that my blurbs make you so happy you look forward to them??? brb vomiting???? that is so kind. horizontal time on tumblr is my fav too, its unmatched.
OH, LITTLE ANNIE TALKING ABOUT HIM PLEASEEEEEE-
I can see her spending the night at hanns bc matty doesn't want her to get ill and doesn't trust George or Ross to keep her overnight.
"Do you even know what 5 year olds eat??"
"bro, why dont you trust us???"
"Yeah... like mushed carrots and shit right. "
you put the kids to work colouring something but secretly call Annie over yo your desk, "hi Annie! I just wanted to ask how your daddy is today, I know he's been a bit poorly"
"...please take her Adam"
she immediately lights up and starts chattering away, "Oh, daddy said he's feeling much better today. he even made me my toast this morning, and he was all smiley the whole time!!! he said you made him all better and played nurse!! can you do that every time he's poorly? he's much happier when you are his nurse than when he goes to the doctors"
obviously, internally you're like "ohmygod he really likes me, and I made him feel better. oh, he couldn't stop smiling, and annie noticed because he was so happy and -"
but externally, you play it cool like, "Oh, that's great, sweetheart! I'm sure next time he's poorly, you can help him feel better too"
Annie is like, "Oh!! I hope he's poorly again soon, I wanna play doctors with you!!!"
you try not to laugh at her wishing her dad ill and just send her back to her desk, but the grin doesn't leave your face all day. thinking about the fact you made matty giddy makes you just as giddy as him.
the next day a bouquet of flowers show up at your door with a note,
"dear nurse y/n,
thank you for coming to look after me even after I cancelled our date. whilst I am slightly mortified you saw me looking like that, I'm more grateful for your help. you made being sick worth it. Spending any time with you is always worth it.
love, matty x
ps, I hope the next time you stay in my bed, I'm substantially less sick, and we're both wearing substantially less clothes ;)"

Quogan with kids - Imagine how panicked/ridiculous Logan would be as Quinn’s water breaks and he has to drive her to the hospital. Or him holding her hand during labor and through the contractions.
I believe Logan would be overly attentive with Quinn's pregnancy, I think I mentioned before him buying whatever craving she has in bulks and make their friends/family rehearse what they have to do for the "big day" (yes, I am referencing Floricienta jajajja), but Quinn isn't far behind him.
I have some more headcanons for Quinn's pregnancy (I also have for them as parents, but then this post would be too long, so I'll leave that for another asks I got about the subject), remember this is settled in my Rebuilding PCA AU.
(had to divide this into sections bc there's an apparent limit for every list)
Finding out, to first Eco:
Despite having everything planned out, even when they were going to have children, the first baby came as a surprise.
I headcanon she took a test on her job. She had her suspicion about her symptoms, and had a doctor appointment in a few days, but she was too impatient to wait so she bought three pregnancy test (just to be sure) and took them on her job's bathroom.
But unexpected doesn't mean unwelcome. Quinn was very happy when she found out, definitely cried when she saw the two pink lines.
The thought of little baby, a mix of both her and Logan overwhelmed her with joy, unable to even worry if that might compromise her work at the moment.
Though she did think of it on her way home, she felt optimist. She acknowledge to herself that it will be hard and it will require more of her usual effort and focus, but she's Quinn Pensky-Reese! She's the mind of her generation, if anyone can handle an inventor's job, a school rebuilding and a pregnancy, that's her!
As soon as she got home, she went into her study and started organizing her schedule for the next months, in case the doctor confirmed it. Just to save time, time she would need later one, after all.
there was even more crying when the doctor told her that, yes, she was in fact pregnant. They settle a date for the first ecography.
Logan was the first one to know, of course. But Quinn waited until she had a doctor's confirmation before telling him, worried she'd get his hopes up only to end both disappointed.
I imagine she prepared a nice surprise dinner. He entered their home and found her waiting besides a candle lit table with his favorite dish. His first thought was wondering if he -somehow- forgot any important date, he even thinks "is it my birthday?".
But she reassured him before he even ask that she just wanted to surprise him. He notices she seems happier than usual, assuming she's about to tell him some really good news, (they know each other so well!!), tho he thinks it's probably related to the school renovation.
Her excitement took over and she couldn't wait until the end of the dinner, much to his relief because his curiosity was killing him.
She hands him a little gift box, and watches as his face changes, he goes from confusion as he opens it and takes a cute tiny PCA onesie, to realization. (note: the baby will be wearing that at some point, when Logan takes them to PCA, to show them the campus *cries*)
His eyes widens and he struggles to form words because he can't close his mouth. He's absolutely shocked.
Logan: "are you saying... we're having a baby?" and Quinn just nods excitedly, she also can't talk because she's already teary eyes.
Logan runs to hug her side, lifting her and spinning her around, so happy the protective dad mode hadn't kicked on yet lol.
He wants to tell everyone immediately, but she tells him it would be better to wait for the first eco, which would be after her first trimestre is completed, and explains to him all about those things (because you know she researched before the doctor appointment and also filled the doctor with questions lol)
He listens attentively because he wants to be aware about everything related to their little bundle of joy.
They're so annoying at the hospital for the eco, but the doctor is incredibly patient (bless them), despite them spilling question after question.
Quinn's scientific curiosity is in full swing as she bombards the ultrasound technician with a million questions about the technology and procedure.
Thankfully for the doctor, they shut up as soon as their baby shows up on the screen, as well as the first time they hear their heartbeat.
(little angsty headcanon: they were both terrified of not hearing a heartbeat, it made them anxious and afraid, they're first time parents after all, they're fucking scared *cries intensifies*)
As the doctor shows them the baby's hands and feet and nose and all that, Logan makes comments like "they're gonna have your nose!" or "oh, you're gonna be a such a heartbreaker, just like your dad"
He mostly tries to make Quinn laugh, and to ease both of their nervous.
The doctor asks if they want to know the gender of the bay, but they decide to save that for the baby shower, so they get it written down in an envelopment instead.
The technician offers to print out a few ultrasound pictures for them, where the gender of their baby could not be visible (already sensing these two would spend a lot of time looking at them and Quinn would definitely figure it out). Quinn practically squeals with delight, already envisioning how she'll document and cherish these precious snapshots. Logan grins, imagining himself showing off the pictures to anyone who will listen, beaming with pride.
As they leave the doctor's office, Quinn can't help but walk a little lighter, her hand resting protectively over her growing belly. Logan wraps an arm around her, pulling her close, his protective mode also activating on that moment
On the way home, they can't resist the urge to stop at a baby store. They fill the car with stuffed animals, and nursery decorations. They also pick out a few gender-neutral outfits, happily imagining their little one wearing them.
When they get home (after Logan settled all the heavy stuff they brought inside their home, because he's not letting her carry anything heavy ever again), they sit in the coach and spread the ultrasound pictures on the coffee table, looking at them and pointing little details they notice about their baby.
Announcement:
After indulging on this little moment, they finally call their friends and family to let them know the news. First their parents (Lyric was in the same room as Logan's parents, so she found out at the same time)
Their parent's are overjoyed, it's going to be the first grandchild in both families, with Quinn being an only child and Logan the first of Malcolm's children to be a parent (I'm still not sure Logan's older brother exist, but either way, first grandkid bc I say so), and at the end of the calls they promise to set a dinner to celebrate this news soon.
When Lyric hears the news, she raises an eyebrow and gives a nonchalant shrug, trying to maintain her composure. Deep down, however, she can't help but feel a surge of excitement and anticipation. She may not show it openly, but Lyric secretly starts researching the best auntie gifts and cool, trendy baby clothes. She's determined to be the "chillest" aunt, effortlessly blending her coolness with her newfound role.
Of their friends, the first to know were Lola and Michael, argue with the wall.
Lola squeals at the news, already declaring herself the best aunt this baby would have (Lyric would disagree if she was there, but whatever), she cracks a few jokes at Logan's expenses probably, I imagine their friendship still has that banter, like they pretend they still dislike each other. Something like, "I'm sure your baby will have enough of you to make up for the parts it gets from Logan" (english is failing me lol, but you get it), and tells them she would host the baby shower. Organizing event is still not much her thing, but she's too excited.
Michael is over the moon, and tells them he'd gladly conduct their baby shower, and tells them he already thought of baby names ideas. They tell them Lola already offered and he says he'll call her to let her help (Lola would probably let him do most of the job lol)
I just know this news would give Zoey and Chase another age/relationship crisis, but let's not focus on that for this. They're happy for their friends. They also offer to help with the baby shower, but Logan is quick to reject them lol. Though Quinn explains Michael and Lola are already on that, so they don't feel bad.
Pregnant Quinn:
Quinn becomes a walking encyclopedia during her pregnancy. She dives deep into researching every stage of fetal development and reads every book on pregnancy she can get her hands on. She's determined to understand every aspect of what's happening to her body and her growing baby.
Quinn's scientific mind goes into overdrive as she starts experimenting with various homemade remedies and concoctions to alleviate pregnancy symptoms
She creates her own natural remedies for morning sickness, swollen feet, and stuff, much to the amusement and amazement of her friends.
I like to keep a bit of the ridiculousness from the show into this, so I hc Quinn's pregnancy hormones send her emotions on a rollercoaster ride. She goes from crying over commercials to laughing uncontrollably at the slightest joke. Her friends and Logan learn to navigate this emotional whirlwind, providing comfort and support whenever she needs it.
Quinn's genius mind starts coming up with innovative inventions specifically designed for pregnancy. She designs a pillow that perfectly supports her growing belly while she sleeps, a wearable device that tracks fetal movements, and even a smart app that monitors her baby's health.
Her pregnancy cravings are a mix of the expected and the totally unexpected. One day, she craves pickles and ice cream, and the next, she insists on eating spaghetti with hot sauce and gummy worms.
As her due date approaches, Quinn becomes hyper-organized. She starts prepping freezer meals, organizing the nursery down to the tiniest detail, and even creating a hospital bag checklist for both her and Logan. She wants everything to be perfectly in place for their baby's arrival.
I like to thinks Quinn's love for science extends to documenting her pregnancy journey. She takes weekly belly pictures, meticulously tracks her weight gain, and even keeps a journal where she writes letters to her unborn baby. While she is treating it like a study, she also wants to capture every precious moment and memory for their little one to look back on.
Quinn's intelligence and curiosity lead her to attend every prenatal class their schedule allows, along with Logan ofc. She becomes the star student, asking insightful questions and even offering her own scientific explanations for certain topics. She kinda annoys the other parents on the classes, but the dirty look Logan gives the when they try to say something shuts them up.
Despite her scientific approach to pregnancy, Quinn also embraces the magical and emotional side of it all. She loves feeling her baby's kicks and hiccups, cherishes every ultrasound appointment, and eagerly awaits the moment she can hold her little one in her arms.
She loves talking to her baby, telling them about how their little body is developing and what awaits them and stuff.
She hopes their little one is a science fan like her, so she also tells them of science in general, specially while she works on her quinnventions, explaining the process to her belly.
No matter how many research she went through, the birth terrifies her, truth be told. She's a first time mother after all, how could she not. The thoughts of all the things that could go wrong filling her mind.
But she endures it, holding tight to Logan's hand. She keeps pushing and pushing until they finally hear the baby's cry.
All the pain and fear melting away the moment he baby is placed in her arms, she cries happily as she caresses their cheeks and coos at them, calming the babies' crying.
the sobbing doesn't stop even when the baby calms down and the doctors take them away to clean them and weight them, neither her or Logan taking their eyes off their child, even when he leans down to kiss her forehead, whispering sweet words at her.
Daddy-to-be Logan:
From the moment Quinn tells Logan she's pregnant, he can't contain his excitement. He starts researching everything about pregnancy and parenting, creating boards filled with nursery ideas, baby names, and parenting hacks.
He creates an elaborate color-coded pregnancy planner. It includes doctor's appointments, prenatal classes, and even a detailed birth plan. He wants everything to be perfectly planned and scheduled for the arrival of their little one.
He takes it upon himself to fulfill every single one of her cravings. He becomes her "master chef", whipping up all sorts of weird food combinations she asks for, even if it means making a peanut butter and pickle sandwich at 3 a.m.
Logan insists on attending every doctor's appointment with Quinn, taking copious notes and asking the doctor a million questions. He's determined to be the most involved and informed dad ever.
As Quinn's baby bump grows, Logan becomes the ultimate protector. He's constantly fretting over her well-being, making sure she doesn't lift heavy objects, and even wrapping her in bubble wrap (metaphorically) to ensure nothing happens to their little one.
Logan starts talking to Quinn's baby bump, telling stories, singing lullabies, and even playing his favorite songs. He's convinced the baby can hear him and wants to establish a bond before they even arrive.
But he does not neglects Quinn, he pays just as much attention to her.
When it comes to baby shopping, Logan goes all out. He insists on buying the most comfy and safe stroller, the comfiest crib, and the cutest baby clothes. He spends hours meticulously researching and comparing products, determined to provide the best for his little family.
Logan becomes a master at assembling baby furniture... after many fails. He spends countless afternoons putting together the crib until he figures out how that thing works, changing tables, and rocking chairs. He'd usually hire someone to do the job for him, but he wanted to do this himself, no matter how frustrating it became, it was worth it.
As Quinn's due date approaches, Logan becomes a nervous wreck. He's constantly checking his phone, ready to rush to the hospital at a moment's notice. He even has a fully packed hospital bag prepared for both Quinn and himself, complete with snacks, a change of clothes, and a camera to capture every moment.
When the day finally arrives, Logan is a ball of nerves and excitement. He paces the hospital waiting room, wearing a path into the floor, until finally, he gets the news that Quinn is in labor.
He practically sprints to her side, holding her hand and whispering words of encouragement throughout the whole process.
And when their little bundle of joy finally enters the world, Logan's heart swells with love and pride. He can't help but cry tears of joy, overwhelmed with emotions as he holds his baby for the first time, promising to be the best dad they could ever ask for.
It's definitely the happiest day of their life, and once home, they can hardly take their eyes off their baby, so thankful to have them there, unable to contain the infinite amount of love their feel for them.
And that's most of my quogan pregnancy headcanons, hope you liked them.

Managing to get away form the men and reindeer Casandra runs down the long white hallway pushing past people and through some doors that used to be blocked to keep the sick out. She only stops when no one is around to take a breath and pull out the key card from her back pocket. Looking it over Casandra sighs, she was genuinely sorry for everything and hugging the little deer felt nice but a part of her hoped he would catch her going into his backpack to grab the card. Casandra starts walking again trying to find a way out, She's happy it was all over now, she can leave, find a new place and a new body, or she could stay in you. Casandra can feel how tired you are so its only a matter of time before you fade away but a part of her doesn't want that to happen, you don't make her feel alone anymore. "Please... check if he's ok" Casandra stops with a gasp, your voice flowing through her mind begging her to check in the room she just passed. She didn't want to, but she was stealing your body so might as well give you a last request, walking into the room Casandra sees a empty white room but there's a tank with a head in it that she recognizes "Boa" Casandra whispers forgetting that he was here, as much as she hates the head your legs move over to stop in front of the tank.
Boa's eyes open staring at you but he looks fine, much better than your memories showed, the mist is much thicker, his skin is darker and the orbs on his tentacles are back to blue "Who are you? You're not Y/N" Boa's voice calls out snapping Casandra out of it and stepping back a little, she should have known the head would notice somethings wrong even if she didn't say anything "Casandra but it doesn't matter, i'm only for fill her last request to check on you" Your arms cross over your chest as the head nods slightly. Boa's eyes seem to look into Casandra's own soul, it scares her a little, but she also somehow finds comfort in how calm the head is "I remember you" Boa simply says before closing his eyes "Y/N has a kind soul, i see it had changed you a little" Casandra rolls her eyes at him with a groan "No i haven't i-" She goes on only to be interrupted by the head "Then why haven't you left, even now you hesitate to walk away even though your so sure of your goals" Boa opens his eyes again giving you a small smile "I-its just a final request, i'm leaving" tears form in your eyes as Casandra talks gripping your arm tight to try and stop herself form crying "She will die if you leave, is that why?" Boa asks seeming to unlock something for Casandra, but she shakes her head trying not to think about it, It hurts her to think of you dying. "Why? Why did she wait for me? Why did she still help me after i tried to kill her friends? After everything i've done, why is she kind?" Casandra steps closer to the head hoping for answers "I remember her telling me once that, kindness is something everyone should be shown at some point in there life no matter how bad they are."
A tear slips down your cheek as Casandra looks down at the floor "I've known her long enough to know that she can look beyond a person's exterior and see who they really are and most of the time... she just says they need a little bit of compassion" Boa nods at Casandra as she looks up at him seeing he's not lying to her. Casandra wipes away some tears form your cheeks trying to stop crying " i've been feeling stuff for a while but i can't remember what its called.... it feels so warm and nice, what is it?" She asks watching as Boa smiles wider at her, showing her kind eyes "Loved... you feel loved" Taking in a shaky breath Casandra smiles hugging your arms to your chest as a way of giving you a hug but your arms tighten a little more making Casandra smile feeling like your hugging back. "It has been a pleasure but i must go, i'm well again and have a need to travel. Good bye Y/N.. Casandra, please tell the doctor i said thank you" Boa's tank starts glowing blue making a humming noise before disappearing into thin air. Casandra watches as he fades away now only looking at the large window that was behind him. She sighs and lets your arms fall to your sides, she could just leave, but she can't, not after everything you've done for her. Walking closer to the window she looks out at the words trying to decide what to do next.
Running down the hall Sanji, Zoro and the Doctor call out your name along with Casandra's hoping to find you. Fear and anger run through the three worried that Casandra already left, and they'll never see you again but the Doctor suddenly stops outside a room "Casandra" The Doctor's angry voice gets Zoro and Sanji to stop and head into the room after the brown haired man. Your backs to them as you look out the window, they all go to yell when your voice calls out "Boa left, he said thank you, Doctor, just Thank you. He looked a lot better which is good for a head in a jar" The three look at you confused not sure if its Casandra or you until the head in a jar comment. "I was going to leave but i can't... I can't do it to her, not after everything she's done for me" Casandra turns around looking at the three boys, Zoro walks closer anger filling his face, he didn't care if she helped or not, he wanted you back now. "Good now get out" His voice almost like venom as he talks, your eyes soften looking up at the green haired man "I need help wi-" she try's to say only for Zoro to grab your shirt pulling you closer to him making Casandra gasp a little in shock "No get out now" The swordsman yells in your face but Casandra sighs calming down, she know the pain she's caused its written all over their faces. Sanji runs over and grabs Zoro's arm "I know your angry and so am i but that's still Y/N" The cook looks at you with slight anger rubbing Zoro's arm feeling the swordsman loosen his grip a little.
Casandra places a hand on top of Zoro's fist thats holding your shirt "You have every right to be mad but if you'll please let me finish, i was going to say i need help with dying" Zoro lets go of your top shocked at what Casandra just said, Sanji keeps his hand on the swordsman's arm stepping back slightly in shock. They didn't fully know what she meant by that was she just going to leave or would dying take you with her. The doctor sighs and walks over taking out his sonic screwdriver getting the woman to look over at him "You want to die?" The doctor asks in a very calm manner, Casandra nods taking in a sharp breath "I don't want to hurt anyone else, i've caused enough damage, plus i'm scared that if i live, I'll forget this feeling all over again" Casandra places your hand over your heart with a small smile "I'm no longer alone and i don't want to forget this feeling so please... help me" The doctor nods at her showing her his sonic screwdriver and turning it on "I can split your atoms once you leave, it'll be painless and quick" Casandra nods at him before looking at Zoro and Sanji who seem to be a little calmer knowing you won't be hurt by this "I know you two will but... Look after her" The two nod at her as she turns back to the doctor "Good bye Casandra" Your voice echos through Casandra's mind making her smile before breathing out the multi colored cloud leaving your body as the doctor points his screwdriver at it, the hum of it getting louder until the cloud dissipates.
With your body about to collapse Zoro and Sanji grab you helping to slowly lower you to the ground as your body goes limp. Sanji moves your hair out of your face as Zoro looks you over for any injuries "Y/n? Love can you hear me?" The cook asks seeing your eyes still closed but your breathing so thats a good sign. "Why isn't she waking up?" Sanji asks as the Doctor kneels down next to the blonde feeling your forehead "She just needs a bit of time to rest and some good pain killers for when she wakes up" The doctor reassures the two as Zoro checks your injured hand seeing the ripped piece of your jacket still attached. "We should get her to chopper then" The swordsman pulls your arm around his neck then puts an arm under your knees and the another under your back to pick you up. Sanji stands up with him and makes sure your head lays in the swordsman's chest before kissing your cheek. "I told him to meet us in the canteen, the elevators should be working now" The Doctor stands leading the way the two boys following him. Getting into the elevator the doctor calls out floor one letting the doors close. You groan a little waking up but unable to open your eyes but you can feel someone holding you. "Hay love, it's ok" Sanji's sweet voice hits your ears as your head pounds.
Zoro holds you a little tighter as you try and move your legs "Don't move baby, i've got you, just relax" You groan again not really sure what's going on but you try and relax into the swordsman's arms as he kisses your head. The disinfection cyclical suddenly starts washing you all down, you bury your head into Zoro's chest still not sure where you are or what is going on but at least you feel safe in his arms. Sanji sighs moving wet hair out of his face before the drys come on, the noise hurts your head more but you just grit your teeth waiting for it to be over. The doctor runs a hand through his hair with a smile as it drys earning a glare form Zoro "Do you have to be so happy about this?" The Doctor looks over at the swordsman with a small laugh as the dryers finally stop "At least we know where clean and dry" The elevator doors open letting you all out onto the very busy first floor where large creatures in black suits and helmets are arresting the nurses and taking statements off other people. "Doctor" A very deep gruff voice calls out one of the black suited men walking over to you all "Commander, nice to see you again" The Doctor smiles patting the creature on its shoulder "I should have known you would be here but i can't be too mad since you did save these people" The creature groans its helmet facing the doctor before turning to Zoro.
Zoro holds you closer to him glaring at the creature, he can't see its face through the thick black helmet and visor so has no idea what it might be thinking. Sanji notices the swordsman tense and steps in front of you and Zoro as the creature steps forward only stopping when almost chest to chest with the cook "It's ok, their Judoon intergalactic police, actually more like bounty hunters" The doctor laughs placing a hand on Sanji's shoulder trying to get the cook to relax but it doesn't seem to work since the blonde is still glaring at the commander "We have medical staff if you need" The creature speaks raising a hand to touch you but Zoro steps back with a harder glare "No we have a doctor" The swordsman's low voice calls out "There Y/N's partners and their doctor isn't one of the nurses, she'll be fine" The Doctor pushes the Judoon back to help resolve the tension in the air. The commander steps back with a nod and a gruff that sounds very animal like "I will leave her in your hands then. Doctor i would like a clear explanation" The Judoon walks off as the Doctor sighs "I'll see you later and don't worry about them, i secretly think he's worried since she's a friend of the General" The Doctor smiles at them before walking after the commander. Sanji lets out a breath he didn't realize he was holding before turning to Zoro who loosens his grip on you a little. Your still going in and out of conciseness making them both concerned, so they head off to the canteen to find Chopper.
The canteen wasn't too busy so it was easy to spot Chopper who was sitting on the same sofa as before seeming to finish bandaging up some alien's arm. The alien stands and bows a little before walking off to rejoin its group "You found her. Is she ok? what happened?" Chopper jumps up onto the sofa trying to get a look at you in Zoro's arms, The swordsman lays you down on the other sofa hearing you groan as you grab his shirt stopping him form going anywhere. Your eyes are still heavy and your head is pounding, your starting to realize who your with and that your in the hospital but you can't tell where exactly you are. Sanji walks over and leans over the arms of the chair placing his hand on your forehead "It's ok love, we're here" As Sanji reassures you Zoro helps Chopper up onto the sofa, so he can take a look at you "Casandra left but Y/N's been in and out, the doctor said she'd have a headache" Chopper nods checking your pulse and checking you over. "The doctor mentioned before about Casandra was compressing Y/n, when we were on the ladder she almost fell and didn't seem to know what was going on when Casandra left her again" Sanji chimes in trying to give more information to help. Zoro sat on the edge of the sofa your hand still clinging to his shirt refusing to let go, so he takes your hand prying it off his shirt and holding it. It seemed to calm you down a bit or maybe you were just contuse again, either way you seemed relaxed and not in too much pain. "I'll get some pain killers for her, but she'll have to be awake to swallow them" Chopper reaches into his bag and takes out some pills while Sanji walks off to get some water.
Zoro squeezes your hand trying to get your attention and luckily it works you groan meaning your awake. "Come on baby, you need to sit up" The swordsman pulls you up and holds you as you sit up stopping you form falling back down "These pills will help with the pain" Chopper rubs your leg seeing you raise your hand to rub your head while trying to say something but it only comes out in a mumbled mess. Sanji sits down next to you with a glass of water, the two help you take the pills and drink some more water. "You'll feel better soon, i think you just need some rest now" Chopper smiles up at you happy to have the real you back "I'm sorry" You manage to get out "It's ok love, none of this is your fault" Sanji moves some hair out of your face as your head falls onto Zoro's shoulder passing out again. The cook moves and helps lay you back down on the sofa before removing his jacket and placing it over you to keep you warm. "Are you two ok?" Chopper asks turning his attention to Zoro and Sanji who both nod "We're fine, have you talked to Luffy and the others yet?" Zoro asks moving to the other sofa and leaning back "No, those police guys won't let anyone in or out and i haven't seen any of the crew near the hospital" The reindeer sits down on the edge of the sofa your on and leans against you a little as Sanji joins Zoro on the other sofa "I think they were all outside when this mess went down which is good" The cook sighs leaning to Zoro who put his arm around the blonde while watching your sleeping form.

𝙉𝙤 𝙢𝙖𝙩𝙩𝙚𝙧 𝙬𝙝𝙖𝙩 𝙞𝙩 𝙘𝙤𝙨𝙩𝙨 (1/?)
first ☆ next
I've never been lucky, not even once in my whole life. I was born with a condition that gave me an ability to regenerate my body which might sound like a blessing, but it's actually my curse.
My parents discovered it when I was four. I was in the kitchen, looking for my mom. She was cooking dinner but had left to go to the toilet. I was curious and tryed to see what she was cooking but I was too short to see on the counter top. That's when I had an idea, I was going to hop on the counter. I was conviced I could do it. So I raised my hands and placed them on the counter top I grabbed what I thought was the edge of it and pulled and- it all when dark.
It was my father who found me, under a large wooden cutting board, next to the rice cooker that was on the cutting board and fell on my face with it. He had heard my scream and ran to the kitchen. He was terrified when he lifted the cutting board to see my head crushed, bleeding, my eyes gouged out, my theeth broken and my nose aswell.
He quickly took me to his car and drove me to the hospital. By the time we got there, he noticed that my face was looking normal if it wasn't for the fresh blood on it. He still got me to a doctor but after examinating me, he told my father that I was fine, nothing was broken and that he didn't understand where all the blood on my face and clothes came from. My father was horrified at this statement, he had seen my head crushed, bleeding out and now I looked fine ?
The next day, my parents took me to another doctor to try to figure out what happened. He never figured it out.
As time passed, my parents started to notice how often I hurt myself, sometimes even on purpose, by curiosity and to see how far I could go.
After a few months, they had enough. I still remember how they would argue every evening. I knew it was because of me. It became almost normal, some kind of routine, until that one night. I was in my room when I heard my mom cying, suddently, she entered my room, kissing me on the forehead before leaving the house. This was the first time I saw her cry and also the last. I never saw her again after that night.
After this event, my father changed. He was always away and when he was finally at home, he ignored me and wouldn't say anything apart complains. I was feeling like we were strangers. It lasted 3 years. For my seventh birthday, I wasn't expecting anything. But surprisingly enough, my father told me to get dressed and that we were going out. I was so happy, at that moment, it felt like he cared about me again.
The roadtrip lasted 4 hours. When we arrived, I was curious about why he drove me here since the building we were about to enter looked like nothing I had seen before. I followed him to what looked like a waiting room. He told me to sit down and that he was going to the toilet. I watched him as he walked away, something felt off but I stayed right where I was. Time passed and there was no sign of him coming back. Suddently the door opened and he man in a white suit came in. He walked in my direction and stopped in front of me, he asked me to confirm my name, which I did. He then asked me to follow him, I was worried about my father but followed the man anyway.
We walked for several minutes and the man didn't speak a word to me. We finally stopped in front of some kind of cells ? He asked me to get in one of them and a woman came in with some clothes in her arms. I didn't know what was happening. The woman was very nice to me and helped me change into some sort of white gown. After a while, I asked her when was my father going to join us. Her smile dropped as soon as I finished my question. "Your father...he won't be joining us..." she then left. I sat on the bed that was in the room and waited until someone came in to inform me that it was time to go to bed. I was too stunned to speak. Did he really leave me ?
The next day, I woke up somewhere else. I didn't recognise this place. When I tryed to get up, I noticed I couldn't move. Leather bands tied my ankles and my wrists to the table I was lying on. I was starting to panick and didn't notice someone entering the room. It was an a man in a white suit, similar to the one that brought me to my cell the day before. He introduced himself as a scientist. He told me that my father took me here to be the subject of experiments. The term experiment didn't mean much to me at the time. He sat next to the table and I asked him what kind of experiment I was going to go trought, to which he responded "We want to make humain stronger, to upgrade them, kinda like super heroes !" I was too young to understand. It was my first time being experimented on, it left me traumatised. As I grew up, I started to understand what he really meant by upgrading humain. They were mixing humain DNA with animals DNA. Because they tought that it would give us the abilities of these animals. I didn't know which animal's DNA they tested on me until day 15. A tail started to grow on me and ears too. My real ears started shrinking and after a month or two, they were gone. As for my new tail, it pierced trought my skin that healed in record time. That's how they found out about my condition, after that, it only became worse. Because they knew my body would heal after, the weren't careful like they were before. They even stopped using anesthesia on me, as it was considered wasting as one of them said. The next months, I noticed my hands were starting to shift into something else anda few weeks after, the same thing happened to my feet. Soon enough I realised what DNA they had tested on me, cat DNA. Years passed and I didn't recognise what my mirror was showing me anymore. It was no longuer me. As time passed, I became non-verbal. I was tired all the time and my body was hurting me like crazy. Healing fast didn't mean I couldn't feel the pain. Over time, my skin and my hair changed colours, my skinned went from a tan beige to snow white and my hair from brown to black. I even thought to myself , "if my father ever comes back, he won't recognise me"
It had become my daily life, the experiment, this new body, the disgusting food they gave us, ... But one day, it changed. The compagnie went bankrupt. So as a way for them to gain money back, I've been sold, a second time. I was waiting for the worst as I got transfered there. The first thing I noticed when we arrived was how fancy the building looked, it smelled nice and was very clean in comparison with the old lab I was in. This time, I even got welcomed. A man in fancy clothing greeted me and at that moment I felt ashamed of my appearance. He was smiling but I could see how he was focused on my tail and my ears. I guess I would too. I didn't speak a word and just shaked my head in response. "not very talkative uh ?" He joked. I smiled at him without opening my mouth.
I got taken to my new cell who surprisingly didn't look like one. Everything seemed nice but I was still worried about one thing.
The next morning, it was finally time for my first experiment here, what were they going to do to me ? Grow me another tails ? Or horns ? Give me wings ?
When I arrived in the room, I was shocked to see how this laboratory was different from the one I use to be in. Then, my gaze shifted on a boy standing in the middle of the room, he was looking anxious and was immediatly surprised when he saw me enter the room. Something felt off about him, but I couldn't get my finger on it.
☆━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━☆
"This is my son, Edouard. Edouard, this is-" he realised that he didn't even care to ask her name. "What is your name miss ? " he asked. She was surprised by the question and realised that she had forgotten her name. "..." she tried to speak but nothing came out of her mouth. She was shocked to see that she apparently had also forgotten how to speak. "subjet 14" one of the man in the room said. He then walked closer and repeated "her name is subject 14". "No, I am asking what her reel name is, she's not some lab rat." he responded. "what is your name young lady ?" he asked again, but no answer. "you can't speak ?" he asked, surprised. She shaked her head negatively in response. "we'll I guess we'll have to stick with subjet 14 or, why not just 14 ?" he suggested. She shaked her head in agreement. "wonderful ! So, Edouard, here is 14, she is our new tester ! She's here to help you." he annonced with a smile. "Nice to meet you 14" the boy said in a shy tone. She just responded by a mouth closed smile.

I am glad today is over. It was a lot more hectic than I was anticipating. There are only 4 people working the morning shift now including me so now I have a lot more to worry about. Nobody has applied for the open positions but I guess I understand. I don't blame them. I remember that I only took this job because I was broke and desperate since I had just moved back from Florida. In the interview they warned me about what I had to deal with. Sometimes I wish I would have just walked away back then but I do think it has helped me grow a lot even though it isn't very fun.
I got pissed earlier because I got yelled at by one of the nurses. There was a pan missing an instrument and I know I had written on the label that it was missing before I sterilized it yesterday. They didn't notice the note on the label and opened it anyway. The nurse came storming out of the operating room with the pan and started throwing a fit about it. It was a problem yesterday too and she was like, "this is the second day in a row you have done this!". I know I had labeled the pan from yesterday too but they weren't paying attention. It is not her job to talk to me about that stuff. The surgical techs are the ones that are responsible for that and she didn't need to be like that. It didn't delay anything and no one else was upset about it. I didn't do anything wrong. She just likes to take her frustration out on everyone around her because it is obvious that she is unhappy with her own life. I have known her for years and she has always been like that. I try to be nice to her but it doesn't matter so I'm just going to ignore her. She is twice my age but she doesn't act like it. I guess some people never grow up. I got really upset after that happened and I said something about being bad at my job. Another nurse heard me say that and she stood up for me. She was very nice and that made me feel a lot better. I appreciated her support and it helped me calm down. I decided I am just going to leave that pan down until I get a replacement for the instrument that is missing so I can avoid any more drama.
That guy that has a crush on me came up to me to apologize for sending me weird pictures last week. There were a couple selfies and also some pictures of food without context. He told me he was just hungry because he has been fasting during the day for a while. He is a strange man and I don't understand him. He is the same guy that asked where I go to hide at work when I need to cry on his first day. He just says the most random shit and I don't know how he comes up with it on the spot. Sometimes it is too much. I guess I am just glad things aren't as awkward now but I am still trying to avoid being around him too much.
I am happy that I got everything done before I had to leave so I don't have to worry about it in the morning. Hopefully people are in a better mood tomorrow. There are a lot of totals though so I don't know how it's going to go.
I don't want to think about work anymore. I have so much I need to get done at home and I am overwhelmed. I don't know where to start. I need to try to focus on that more I think.
The doctor's office called today and told me I am getting a referral for PT. I told them I didn't want to schedule anything right now because I don't have transportation so I will have to call them when I'm ready. I really hate going to PT after work and I know it is going to be too much of a hassle to leave in the middle of the day. I don't want to do it at all. I will be more exhausted than I already am. I don't want to think about that anymore either because there's nothing I can do at the moment.
I guess I am going to try to relax soon. I don't have much else to talk about. I hope that tomorrow is a good day.
I hope everyone else has a good day tomorrow too. :) 💖💖💖

Spectra sucks. Dunno what else to tell you. (ao3) (masterpost)
Part 3: Chapter 1
“So,” Danny said as they approached Casper High, “today's the first day with the shrink?”
Kwan groaned, then clutched at his side as his rib ached. He’d been cleared to return to school, but was supposed to limit his activity. No gym, or stairs, and Danny was carrying his backpack for now. It was more annoying than regular school. “Don't remind me,” he said. “Let's talk about your creepy half-ghost uncle again instead.”
“Low blow, dude. Also, definitely not my uncle.”
“That's right, he's your future stepdad!”
Danny shoved lightly at him, careful to avoid his bad side. “How did you manage to go even lower?”
“It's a talent,” he said. “Besides, there is at least some good news from the whole Vlad-thing.”
“Oh yeah? What?”
“You probably aren't going to destabilize and dissolve any time soon!”
“Well, gee, thanks for reminding me of that possibility.”
“Always happy to help.”
They lapsed into silence as they crested the hill. Kwan's appointment was scheduled for immediately after school; his detentions with Lancer had been postponed on account of both the other teacher's continued hospital stay and Tyson dying. Thus, Principal Ishiyama had said he could use that time instead for his therapy.
Ugh. Therapy.
“So how long are you gonna see her for?”
“Who?”
“The shrink.”
“Right,” Kwan said. “I convinced my mom to let me have just a thirty minute appointment to start.”
“Cool,” Danny said. “I'll be waiting? At the big oak?”
Something warm bloomed in Kwan's chest. Dash would never have waited for him, even if he'd asked. Danny always waited, after detention and now with this stupid counseling. Maybe it was because they were both each other's only friends, but still. It was... nice. “Yeah,” he said, voice breaking in a way that he could only hope Danny hadn't noticed. “I'll find you after.”
Walking into first period gym with a doctor’s note, Kwan still couldn’t help but smile.
-----
“You're in a good mood,” Valerie said at their lab table, measuring out the baking soda.
Kwan startled, twinging his still-healing rib, then looked around to see who she was talking to.
“I'm talking to you, dumbass.”
“Since when?”
“I can always stop.”
Kwan raised an eyebrow. “Then why start at all?”
“Well, with... recent events—I don't know.” Valerie stared at her hands and dropped her voice. “Paulina lost it on Dash. For crying at Tyson's thing.”
“Yeah,” Kwan said with a wince. “I kinda figured.”
“Yeah, me too. But then, I started thinking... what the fuck kind of relationship do we have where that was expected?” Valerie sniffed. “She wouldn't even let me talk, y'know? I had a lot to say.”
“Val...” Kwan reached for her hand.
She jerked it back. “I'm not saying you're right or anything. Just—you knew him. And her. And you're not dating her. So.”
“So I was your best option to complain to?”
“I guess. I'm not gonna abandon her. Them.” The like you did was blessedly unspoken. “But, I don't know. Maybe—maybe I don't really blame you anymore.”
“Okay,” Kwan said. “But you can't talk to me if you want to stay her friend. You know that, right?”
“Obviously.” Valerie rolled her eyes. “But we're lab partners. We have to talk sometimes. For class.”
Kwan hid a grin. “Of course.”
“Of course.”
Valerie finished measuring out the materials and passed them to Kwan. “So,” she said, “what’s got you in a good mood?”
“Nothing!” Kwan squeaked. He could feel the heat rising to his face.
“Oh?” Valerie leaned toward him, a teasing smile dancing around her lips. “Did you finally boink Fenton?”
“Boink?”
“So you did.”
“No!” Kwan waved his hands around desperately. “We’re just friends.”
Valerie gave him a calculating stare. “Hm,” she said. “Too bad.”
“You want us to—”
“Me? I don’t care. You, however, clearly do.”
Somehow, his face got even hotter. “I don’t!”
“Kwan,” Valerie said, “you are somehow even more obvious about this than you were about your crush on Dash, and I watched you give him a massage once just because he mentioned his shoulders were a little stiff.”
“What—I didn’t—”
“Kwan. Kwan, look at me.” Valerie leaned down and made sure that she was looking Kwan in the eyes. “Did you… not know you had a crush on Dash?”
“I—” Kwan stopped himself and thought back to the way his eyes had always sought out Dash first and foremost whenever he entered a room. The way he reached for Dash’s hands and his arms whenever he could get away with it. The beating of his heart when Dash smiled.
“Fuck,” he said. “I liked Dash?”
Valerie bent over with laughter. “Congratulations!” she said, gasping for breath. “You’re officially the last to know. Well, aside from Dash.”
Kwan buried his head in his hands. “Oh my god. I had a crush on Dash.”
He felt an awkward patting on his back. “Yeah. You sure did.”
“And… you think I have one on Danny?”
“Dude. You should see your face when you look at him. Or think about him. It’s disgusting.” She fished out her phone and turned on the front facing camera, shoving it in his face. “You’re literally making it right now, look.”
The Kwan on the camera mostly looked confused at having a camera shoved in his face.
“Okay, so you look constipated now,” Valerie said. “Whatever. Just trust me. You looked soft as hell like two seconds ago.”
Kwan thought about it. He thought about long nights, staying up and trying to finish homework except they kept getting distracted by trying to one-up each other’s jokes. He thought about how Danny watched football with him even though he didn’t understand it, how he tried to play Doomed even though he sucked because it made Danny happy. He thought about Danny, saving his life from the ectopus, from the Lunch Lady, from the shapeshifting gorilla ghost.
He thought about Danny smiling. He thought about Danny laughing. He thought about the warmth in his chest whenever he saw Danny.
Well. Shit.
“There it is again!” Valerie pulled back out her phone just as Kwan buried his face back in his hands. “Dammit, are you conspiring against me getting a picture of your smitten face?”
“Valerie,” Kwan said through his hands, “I’ve got a crush on Danny.”
“Once again,” Valerie said, “congrats on being the last to know.”
“As glad as I am to see you two talking again,” Ms. Okorafor said, startling Kwan and Valerie, who had both missed her approach, “I do need you to do the lab today.”
“Right,” Kwan said.
“Yeah, sure,” Valerie said.
Like a spell had been broken, they went back to doing their lab in silence. Still, Kwan caught Valerie’s eye from across the table and she smiled, just a little.
It felt like progress.
-----
Kwan hadn’t expected to wait to see Dr. Spectra, but the student before him had still been inside when he arrived in her office. So he was stuck in one of the uncomfortable plastic chairs right outside, with an odd little man with gray hair and green eyes staring him down.
Kwan shifted in his seat, then groaned as his rib ached again. Right. Keep his torso steady.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, the door opened and out stepped… Dash.
Dash spotted Kwan, then turned his nose up. Dash wasn’t having doubts like Valerie, then.
Still, with Dash pointedly ignoring him, Kwan had the opportunity to study his face. He’d had most of the day to come to terms with his old crush on Dash, but now he wanted to see if those feelings were still there or not. He didn’t think they were, but he hadn’t known about them to begin with, so his judgment was clearly not the best.
But instead of renewed feelings, he found tear tracks on Dash’s cheek.
Right. Of course. Dash was here to talk about Tyson. That made sense, because the two were still friends. Unlike Kwan and Tyson, who hadn’t spoken in over a month.
Kwan bit back a sigh of frustration. Why had Mom insisted he be here, instead of letting someone else who actually needed it take this time slot? He didn’t really understand why she was so insistent that something had to be wrong.
Whatever. He was here, and he’d promised, so he’d do it. He just didn’t have to be happy about it, was all.
He stood up as Dash walked out, waved on by the odd secretary. He knocked on the door twice and a voice called out, “Come in, please!”
The room itself looked like any other office. He’d half-expected to see one of those long couches designed for lying down like he’d seen in movies, but this was a public school. They would never be able to afford that. Instead, there were two more of those uncomfortable plastic chairs right in front of Dr. Spectra’s desk, which was scrupulously clean. The walls were covered in generic motivational posters. The one right behind Dr. Spectra’s head had a picture of a young oak tree with BELEAF IN YOURSELF written on the bottom.
And, of course, Dr. Spectra herself sat at the desk in a high-backed office chair. Her hair was bright red and her eyes the same shade of green as her assistant. Maybe they were related somehow?
“Hi there,” Dr. Spectra said, gesturing for Kwan to sit down. “You’re Kwan, right?”
Kwan dropped in the chair in front of her desk, barely restraining from rolling his eyes. “Yeah,” he said. “That’s my name.”
“Lovely to meet you, honey.” Dr. Spectra looked at him from over her glasses. “Now, why are you here today?”
“Because my mom thinks I have problems.”
“Do you?”
Kwan shrugged. “Doesn’t everyone? Mine aren’t any worse than anyone else’s though, so I don’t get the point of this.”
Dr. Spectra hummed. “Well, therapy doesn’t have to be just about feeling better. It can be about being better, too.”
“What do you—”
“I mean, I’ve heard from your classmates who’ve come to see me that you recently lost all your friends? Had a fight with them?”
“Well, yeah, but—”
“Including the poor student that passed recently?”
Kwan flinched. “I guess you could say that.”
“Oh, sweetie,” Dr. Spectra cooed. “I don’t mean anything by it. Just mentioning it because I thought you might have some… regrets.”
Regrets? Sure, he had plenty. Mostly about being a dick since the start of middle school. But he didn’t regret dumping his old friends. They deserved it, and he needed to be better.
“My friends sucked,” he said after a long moment. “I wanted to be better. They were the ones who chose not to change. That’s on them, not me.”
“Of course, of course,” Dr. Spectra said. “You’re on a journey of self-discovery! Very commendable.” Her smile stretched across her teeth.
Kwan bit his lip to keep from sighing. So far, this grief counselor wasn’t impressing him much.
“I just thought that maybe,” she said, “you felt like you could have done something to stop this tragedy from happening.”
Kwan stiffened. “Why—what makes you say that?”
“Oh, it’s very common. Survivor’s guilt. I thought you might feel like since you stopped being friends with poor Tyson, you weren’t there with him the day he died. Maybe you could’ve saved him if you were.”
“Why would I think that?!” Kwan’s fingers dug into his arms. If possible, Dr. Spectra’s smile stretched even wider.
“Oh dear, of course it isn’t true. I just thought it would be a reasonable response to a horrible situation. That’s all.”
Could Kwan have done more? He was at the mall that day, after all. He had advance warning. He’d gone along with his mom, and let her take Danny away, instead of letting Danny help. He hadn’t just not saved Tyson, he’d helped prevent the only person who could have saved Tyson. Mom hadn’t seen for herself how useless the Fentons were, but Kwan had. Kwan knew that Danny was their best chance, and Kwan had packed him away in the car anyway.
Acid burbled from his stomach into his throat. He lurched forward and vomited into the trash can at the side of Dr. Spectra’s desk. His rib burned.
A hand rubbed at his back. “That’s it, dear,” Dr. Spectra said. “You’re okay.”
Kwan coughed and spat out the remnants of bile. The taste was almost bad enough to make him barf again, so he poured some water in his mouth and swished it around before spitting it into the trash along with his vomit.
“Oh,” Dr. Spectra said. “I wish you hadn't—I mean, I feel bad for the janitor who has to clean that up.” She laughed and waved her hand as though waving that idea off. “Of course, not your fault, dearie.”
Mom was so stressed now, because he'd brought this whole thing upon them. Him, not Danny. He'd dared Danny to go into the portal and all of this had happened. Danny kept getting hurt. Mom was about to collapse under the pressure of keeping them both safe. Even now, he was making Danny wait on him while he worked on his own problems.
How selfish could he be?
No, no, he'd done nice things for Danny, too. Comforted him. Helped keep his secret. Destroyed his only other friendships.
Fuck.
“Am I—am I ruining people's lives?”
“Of course not, sweetie. What on earth makes you think that?”
“I just—I was a jerk before, and I'm trying to be better, but maybe I'm not as good as I think I am. Maybe I'm only being better because it gets me what I want.”
He did have a crush on Danny, after all. Being nice to Danny was a way to get him to like Kwan more. This whole time, he'd probably been trying to get Danny's attention. He was taking up his time because he craved it, just like he'd craved whatever Dash had been willing to give him. If he really wanted what was best for Danny, he'd try to fix his actual friendships, with Manson and Foley, not hoard him all to himself.
Dr. Spectra hummed. “Well, I suppose that's possible, but it's nothing we can't fix!”
“Really?” If this was all his fault... well, of course it was. How stupid of him to think that just dumping his friends was enough to make up for anything. Instead, here he was focusing on his own happiness and making everything worse.
“Of course. I'm here to help.”
“You said, at the beginning...”
“Yes?”
“You said this didn't have to be about feeling better.” Maybe he didn't deserve to feel better. Not yet. He thought he'd gotten better, but here he was making everything worse for everyone around him. “You said it could be about being better.”
“Of course!” Dr. Spectra's smile stretched impossibly wider. “Is that something you'd like? A self-improvement focus?”
“I—yeah. Yeah, I'd like that.” He couldn't be a problem for his mom or for Danny anymore. He needed to start being a solution. If Dr. Spectra could help...
“Excellent!” She tied off the garbage bag, but Kwan could still smell the sour stench of his vomit. “Let's get started, then, shall we?”

So. It's Been A While.
That last update was a bit prophetic, wasn't it.
Uhm, I guess I should give a sort of summary of the last... Two? Three years? For people that are still lingering.
I'll put the bulk of it under a read more, but TL;DR- Parks Department job has panned out really well, had to move out a second time due to Stuff, Dad had a second stroke and passed away from complications, my mom's dog passed away from a malignant tumor, and I'm currently doing a lot of juggling to help Mom and myself try to survive.
Could be better. Could be a lot worse.
For folks that want some more details, well-
I'll get the rough stuff out of the way first.
My dad died. It'll be two years this October. He had a second stroke, and went from slow but steady improvement to a rapid decline that ended with Mom and I mutually agreeing that his quality of life had degraded so badly it was basically torture forcing him to stay alive. He wasn't quite a vegetable at the end, but it was close. He couldn't talk. He couldn't articulate his needs. He couldn't take care of himself in any fashion.
I sat and waited in his hospice room, and saw when the final breath left his body. There is no possible means to describe the Certainty, and the Relief. Knowing he was gone, and that he was no longer suffering.
Neither Mom or I have really had the space to fully process it. His ashes have yet to be scattered, and we haven't be able to coordinate a wake for the extended family. I don't know if we'll ever have one at this rate, but we want to give him a send off for everyone to properly say their good byes.
Less than two months after Dad passed, Mom called me crying. Tali, our family dog for the last 16 years, hadn't been feeling very well for a while, and gave Mom a couple bad scares before she finally had to be rushed to an emergency vet. They found out that Tali had been developing a tumor, and while it wasn't metastasized or actively malignant, it had begun to interrupt body functions and after a sudden seizure, had caused internal bleeding so bad they weren't sure she would survive being sedated let alone surgical intervention.
We decided it would do her a disservice to force her through such an invasive procedure, with no guarantee of recovery, let alone good health.
Mom and I both held her as the doctors gave her a fatal dosage of anesthetic, and she passed away peacefully. Her ashes are also still with us, waiting for us to decide how to honor her life.
On to less miserable topics-
Moving house! Happened cause the roommates we moved in with ended up paranoid assholes who tried to get us evicted and/or arrested on falsified charges of theft! We had to call up the sheriff, police and the landlord, as well as a tenant-landlord lawyer, to get the roommates of our backs. We moved out as soon as we were able to keep their assholery from reoccurring and possibly resulting in legal actions.
My partner and I ended up staying with a mutual friend for a couple months while we hunted for a new place, and now we've been staying in a pretty nice duplex that we're currently hoping won't price us out come the next lease reup (there's consulting of tenant-landlord lawyers in the plan for negotiating with the landlord). Other than fretting over funds, we're pretty alright.
Job! Parks and Rec invited me back to a longer season, and I just recently got invited back again, and I may actually apply for a year round full time position. The people are great, I enjoy the work I do, the benefits are excellent, and I even have a supervisor who Gives A Shit for once.
Pretty sure the job kept me from a depression spiral when Dad and Tali passed away back to back.
Rapid fire what else- Got a new to me car, reconnected with a bunch of friends from old fandoms, made new friends in an entirely new fandom, started looking into possibly going back to school, helped my mom with buying a house and a car, got sick with Covid twice, got two cavities drilled and filled, played way too much Cult Of The Lamb...
I think that's it? At least, that's all I can remember anymore.
It's been A Lot.
What does this say for this project?
Well, I still want to put work into it. I want to reinvest myself and my interests into this world that I've created. Considering current Tumblr drama, I may end up seeing how much I can transition over to something less fragile, like Neocities. I haven't made a webpage in so long it's ridiculous, but it could be worth it to mirror all my Tumblr projects onto something that I can actually archive.
It's a bit up in the air, and I apologize in advance if I vanish again, since I'm going to be going back to work at the end of March and I'm not sure how much energy I'll have to juggle. Whatever happens-
Thank you all for participating in this experience with me. You all have made this silly little side project a true joy, and I'm thankful for everyone who has made it possible.

High-Five Months Old
Tumblr media
We're rapidly approaching Kent's first half year of life as he continues to grow faster than my morning race to the espresso machine. This last month has included a couple of firsts for little Kent, as his personality continues to blossom. He's truly one of the happiest little babies I've ever known, and that fact has yet to waiver as time marches on.
Tumblr media
Kent had his 4-month check up in September where he got a whole cocktail of vaccines, and handled it like a champ. We have a great pediatrician which certainly makes things much easier. She advised that we wait to start feeding Kent solids until ~5 1/2 months. Hard to believe we're now only weeks away from this! When you become a new parent, you get a lot of unsolicited advice from people, so our mantra continues to be "we're just following what his doctor says". It's hard to argue with that.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rob is now less than two weeks away from going back to work. We're a bit nervous since this means we'll a) be relying on others to care for him during the day and b) have to adjust to yet another major routine change. It's been so nice having them both home, especially since I work from home. Kent will be going to a nanny 3x per week and grandma/grandpa's house 2x per week. It's going to be so quiet here when this does finally happen. This'll be a big step for all of us!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
October is one of my favorite months, for several reasons. It's my birthday, for one, but also because of all the fun Fall festivities. We took Kent to his very first pumpkin patch! I think he was more intrigued with the tractor than the pumpkins, but that's neither here nor there. We had fun as a family picking out the perfect pumpkins and the weather couldn't have been any better - a sunny, crisp, Fall day!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We had planned a trip down to my hometown to visit family and decided to make a stop at one of my favorite places - the cider mill. We got to drink fresh apple cider (blackberry apple cider to be exact), ate a fresh apple fritter, and got to show Kent several farm animals including goats, sheep, chickens, guinea pigs, and peacocks. He was extremely interested in the animals, which in turn brought me so much joy. Taking him on adventures, no matter how big or small, is by far one of our favorite things in the world.
Tumblr media
While we were on our trip, Kent rolled over for the first time! I started crying, which in hindsight is hilarious. Never did I imagine myself sobbing over something like a baby rolling over, but I was just so grateful to be there to witness one of his firsts. It's been a big worry of mine since going back to work; that I'd miss out on all of his firsts. So this was an absolutely magical birthday gift he gave me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Visiting with family was really nice. Kent got to see his grandpa, his great-grandma (GG), and his aunt and uncle. We even stopped to see his great aunt and uncle (not pictured) so we certainly got our fill of family time. It was such a nice way to spend my birthday and Kent did so good going along for the ride.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
An additional bonus to our trip was visiting one of my dearest friends for her baby shower. Kent was the only boy at the party and boy was he popular! His face says it all...he likes the ladies! All the gals were passing him around the room and he had zero complaints. He never ceases to amaze me. A few days after our trip, Kent had another first and sadly not one we looked forward to. He got sick! Considering all the people we saw, I shouldn't be terribly surprised. I suppose on one hand, it's nice knowing his immune system is kicking into gear and his white blood cells are learning how to battle infections. We knew this day would come eventually and it's been tough to say the least. Seeing him sick is so heartbreaking, but we are managing the best we can and hoping to kick it soon. I type this as I take a sip of Theraflu. Yup - mama got it, too. All things considered, we have no regrets. It was bound to happen eventually.
Tumblr media
We are about one week away from our final social worker visit and about one month away from the adoption being finalized. We felt like this day would never come and hope to have more to report in our next month's blog. Kent is by far our biggest joy in life. Being a parent is exhausting, and certainly not all rainbows and unicorns. All that to say, we wouldn't change it for the world! Our son is loved and has such a beautiful life ahead. We can't wait to see what kind of person he grows up to be. I'm betting he'll still be full of smiles 20 years from now and that he'll be a kind, loving, empathetic human. Stay tuned for next month's blog where we'll share our Halloween costumes, some more firsts, and hopefully more news on his adoption finalization. We're enjoying the parenthood ride so far, no matter how bumpy it gets. Happy October and thanks for reading!

I have my check in soon and I’m so conflicted. I don’t know what to do. I don’t want them to overreact and pull my pass on Thursday or God forbid put me back on a 1:1. But I also don’t want to take credit for “handling things so well”.
I think pulling my pass is more likely to happen than the 1:1. It’s like that validation that see I’m still screwing things up, stop giving me credit where it’s not due!!
So long story short (will it be though) I had to switch rooms, out of the single and into a double with another younger girl who’s actually really chill. But right after I was told this I immediately started freaking out. Now don’t get me wrong- I am not saying I was freaking out because I had to change rooms. I started freaking out because of my reaction to this. Like I work in this field, I know that room changes happen for many different reasons and yea it sucks but there’s nothing they can do about it.
Here’s where my overthinking comes into play. I’ve already overthought over and over and over again how if I slip up and get landed back on the 1:1 it’s going to look like I want to be on the 1:1. Now with this room change it’s going to look like that even more because I’d have to be in a single. Then it’s well that’s going to be more stress on the staff… And the whole while I’m freaking out I’m realizing just how fucked up all this is. And I’m crying and biting my hand and then in between packing bags on the floor I started punching the ground.
I did at one point go out and take a PRN and ask to talk to my social worker. And then I went back to packing and back to punching the ground. Annoyed with myself for this overreaction I hate myself, I hate myself, I hate myself on repeat in my head.
Finally she came in to talk and I told her I wanted to start the process to leaving on Friday. She said that was up to my doctor. So I vented a little about the whole situation, how my reaction isn’t justified, my emotions are too much, jumping to anger is too much. I just want to go home and deal with things on my own. That I’m not going to kill myself but it doesn’t matter if I hurt myself. That all this is pointless because I still can’t control my emotions and things are still too extreme. She was really great and I appreciated her talking to me. She kept saying how what I was doing was progress, talking instead of self harm. I was vague and said things like “it’s too late” and rolled my eyes at some points. But she didn’t catch on.
My doctor came a little later to ask about my pharmacy outside of here and also apologize about the room change and I stopped her and said do not even entertain my crazy brattyness (if that’s even a word). We’re going to talk more about it tomorrow which I’m so not looking forward to.
On top of all this the nursing director of the unit came by to clarify that she does not hate me and actually genuinely likes me and finds me pleasant and nice. I had mentioned to my social worker how she already doesn’t like me and now I’m looking like a selfish brat freaking out cause of a room change. But I kept trying to reiterate that it’s not the actual change itself but the anger is all towards myself for my reaction and emotions.
Anyways like I said I’m meeting with my check in like any second now and as much as I want to confess and get it off my chest about the hand stuff, I know I can’t. I just need to make it a few more days. If I mention it or even hint at it I know my pass will get pulled. Like if my doctor asks tomorrow if I self harmed tonight I want to say it doesn’t matter but that is too much. I need to just say no and move on. I’ll confess it on Thursday when I get back.

I'm your huckleberry (Tombstone 1993) (Doc Holliday)
Description:
The joys of modern inventions and miracles are often taken for granted. Your hungry or thirsty? Get something from the fridge or make it. You need to go somewhere? Drive or call an uber. Your hurt? Go to the doctor.
Your bored? Watch a movie, play video games, watch videos on the internet, talk to people without ever leaving your house.
Some much time is in our hands... but back in the 19th century... you wouldn't last very long.
Diseases are rampant, gun violence is higher, no modern technology, barely any good medicine, almost all of your favorite food doesn't exist and most of the people are rude as hell. But... That doesn't mean all of them were so bad. Love was not something most people in this time really cared about. At least, in the town of Tombstone, Arizona.
After falling asleep with a nice looking stone you bought at a small stand at the carnival, your whole world becomes the opposite. Six people from the past discover you unconscious and alone in the blistering heat and offer help but it was their help that let you meet the most amazing man you've ever met.
John Henry "Doc" Holliday.
Chapter 7
Previous ~ Next
Even though it was a truly magical moment to meet your soul mate, you thought it was just a dream but you were disappointed to find that it was no dream. You awoke to feel a hand shaking your shoulder. "(Y/n). Wake up. Jesus, how are you still asleep"?
You opened your eyes and saw that it was Wyatt waking you up. When you felt the shaking on your shoulder, you also hoped it was Gracie trying to wake you up so you could feed her and take her outside but that still wasn't the case. You see Wyatt and his brothers standing by the door. "Oh. It wasn't a dream, was it"?
"No. I'm sorry, it wasn't".
You could feel the tears start to build up in your eyes and you could hear the door open and you looked over to see that it was Doc. "It's ready" he said and then saw you, looking as if you were about to cry. "Hey hey. It's ok" Wyatt said as he sat down beside you. "I'm sorry" you said trying to hide your face and wipe your tears away. "Hey" Morgan said softly as he walked over, "Don't be sorry. It's ok".
"I probably look like an idiot, don't I" you said, choking on your words.
"No. Your not an idiot" Wyatt said giving a couple gentle pats on the back. "Your bizarre but not an idiot". You laughed at that and it made things a bit easier for the moment. "I know".
"Hey, c'mon now" Morgan said encouragingly. "Why you crying when we got a surprise for ya"? You looked at him and dared to ask what the surprise was. "That's the point, come on". He helped you stand up and Virgil and Doc stepped outside. "What's going on"?
"Nothing yet. Just close your eyes" Wyatt said.
"No. What're you gonna do"!?
"Relax, (y/n)" Morgan said. "You'll love this". You hesitantly closed your eyes and could feel Morgan guide you outside. The heat from the dastardly sun radiated off of your skin which made it shine so beautifully. "Ok, (y/n). Open your eyes". You opened your eyes and almost screamed. Doc was holding the reins of a beautiful black horse with a white blaze and white socked legs and already saddled up. "For you, darlin'. You'll be needing a way to get around and I think she'll do just fine".
You felt like a kid on Christmas and didn't mean to let out the squeals of excitement which made them laugh. You couldn't contain your excitement and just hugged Morgan so tightly then Wyatt and you rushed to Doc. He wasn't fully prepared for it and almost reached for his gun but he remembered that there was no need for that. He wasn't used to being touched so affectionately out of nowhere. He soon relaxed and returned your embrace. As you went and hugged Virgil you asked them what her name was.
"Well, that's the thing" Wyatt said as he approached the large animal, "She doesn't have a name. Looks like that's your job".
"Where'd you get her" you asked as you got in front of her.
"She was one of the horses that was for sale at the corral. We made just enough money last night to get you one and a saddle" Wyatt said. She was so beautiful and she started to nuzzle you. "Well, look at that" Morgan said, "I think she likes ya already".
"I love her already"!
"What will you name her" Doc asked curiously.
"Hmmm... How bout... Sylvie".
"Nice name, I like it".
Sylvie started to nudge you gently and took a step towards you. "That's not all, (y/n)" Virgil said as he came from around the horse.
"What d'you mean"?
"Well, your gonna have to learn how to ride her. We're gonna show you how" Morgan said.
"But not here" Virgil said.
"There'll be enough space to practice out in the woods" Morgan said getting on top of his horse. "I went ahead and checked it out, theres a lot of open fields. It's perfect".
"You guys are just amazing". They smiled and began mounting up on their horses. You were lifted up onto Doc's horse and Wyatt would have Sylvie by the reins and made her follow along. The ride took awhile but you all finally made it to a large opened field. They got off their horses and Doc helped you get off his horse. You only needed one teacher for this lesson but they explained along the way that they wanted to see someone from the future do the things they do in the 1880's. It was Morgans idea anyways. "Alright (y/n), do you at least know how to get on a horse" Morgan asked as he walked towards your horse.
"No".
"Aw, come on. What's next? Do future people learn how to fly too"?
"Well, technically yes".
He just rolled his eyes. "Another thing to tell me about. Come 'ere". You walked over to him and began the lesson with his other brothers and Doc standing back and watching this. "Alright, (y/n). I'm gonna show ya how to get on a horse and get off it. All you gotta do, is take your hand that's closest to the saddle horn and grip it tightly. Then put your hand on the back of your horse to keep yourself steady. Then put your leg closest to the front and place it in the stirrup". You kept listening and watched him do what he was explaining. "And then, pull yourself up to and swing your leg around to put it in the other stirrup". Morgan was all situated on Sylvie who was being calm as Morgan then instructed how to get off the horse. "Just get your foot out of the stirrup and swing it around to the other side and once your on the ground, get your other foot out and that's it".
Morgan demonstrated what to do and then motioned for you to try it out. You repeated what he said to do and he stood right by Sylvie in case you needed help. You did it exactly the same way he did but when you tried to get off, you lost your footing and almost fell to the ground but Morgan quickly caught you and encouraged you to try again. After a couple attempts, you got it down. But now came the part that they started to fear.
Riding.
"Ok, (y/n)" Morgan said worriedly. "We'll take this nice and slow. Just give her a gentle kick and tell her-"
"YOLO"!
You spurred Sylvie and she instantly started sprinting down the field. The Earps and Doc quickly got on their horses to catch up to you. Virgil and Wyatt caught up to you on one side and Morgan and Doc caught up to the other side. "Hang on, (y/n)" Morgan yelled, "Just hang on"!
"This is awesome" you yelled out in glee. At this point, they thought you were crazy but they all then saw that look of pure enjoyment and they could feel the excitement and happiness that coursed through you and couldn't help but follow along with your excitement. But they still thought you were crazy. You all kept riding until a log was in the middle of the path in woods. You had fallen behind and their horses easily jumped the log but they looked back, worried that you would fall off.
To their amazement, you held on tightly and Sylvie jumped over the log with ease. You raced past them and they cheered for you as they caught up to you. You kept riding for awhile until you all saw a nice shaded area by a pond to rest your horses. As you all got off, Wyatt took a bed roll blanket off his horse and placed it on the ground. "That was so much fun"!
"Fun! You could've been killed back there" Wyatt remarked but still laughed.
"Still fun though" you remarked.
"You'd die for fun" Morgan asked.
"Uhh, yes! Wouldn't you guys"? They couldn't really answer. "Oh my god, then you guys would definitely love the future".
"Speaking of that" Morgan said, "You still have to tell us what it's like".
"Ok". You all sat down. "What exactly do you want to know"?
"Everything! How 'bout... Ah! What do people do for fun then"?
"A lot of stuff. We can pretty much entertain ourselves with our phones".
"How" Virgil asked.
"Here". You pulled out your phone and had them come closer. You did have some videos downloaded for when you were on the road and decided to show them that. Their minds were blown away and didn't dare to take their eyes of the screen. "Pretty cool, ain't it"?
"It's incredible"!
"I can't believe it"!
"Magnificent"!
"What else can it do" Doc asked curiously.
"Take pictures".
"I find that hard to believe, darlin'".
"Ok... Here, look". You opened up your camera app and they could see their faces on the screen. "It's like a mirror" Morgan said excitedly.
"Here, smile"! They all got close and smiled softly. You took the picture and when they saw it, they were once again blown away. "How many can it take"?
"As many as you want".
"Can you take another one"?
You must've heard that question a million times because they wanted a lot of pictures. From group pictures to single pictures and face filters, they were infatuated with it. You did manage to tell them about other things that people do in the future and they wished they could see it with their own eyes. "You know" you asked. "I do want to ask. Can you guys teach me how to use a gun"?
They all looked to each other and didn't know if it was a good idea but they had to agree that you were stuck here and you did have to get used to this kind of living. "I suppose" Doc hesitated, "But only if you're careful". Doc took a gun out of his holster and handed it to you. "I'll be careful". The pistol probably weighed about seven or eight pounds. "Now" Doc came up to the side of you and instructed you on what to do.
As Doc was teaching you, the Earps were watching from a bit away and could see how flustered you were getting with Doc being so close to you. "God, look at her. You can tell she likes him" Morgan said. You were aiming the gun and Doc was still instructing you. "You can also see the way he looks at her" Virgil added. "He likes her as well". Wyatt only shook his head but as he looked back, he could see that pure innocent look on your face. They knew your age since you were quite the chatterbox and it made them feel happier to have that one person around who brought them inner happiness. Something they thought they never put that much thought to other than making money.
This was different, and they knew it. Even Doc. After a small lesson, Wyatt had asked you to give them a moment. "Ok, come Sylvie. Let's take some selfies"! Sylvie heard her name and was already getting used to you and walked over to you by the shoreline of the pond. Once you were out of earshot, they spoke. "What's wrong, Wyatt" Morgan asked.
"I think we all need to agree on one thing. No matter what happens, we have to protect her". The others immediately knew where this conversation was going and they didn't need for it to go on much longer. They were all on the same page. "She's stuck with us so we don't necessarily have to worry about losing her but it's the cowboys I'm more concerned about. You saw them eyeing her down like a free drink" Morgan said.
"I swear to you all" Doc said. "No one will lay a single hand on her. Not a soul". They all agreed and looked over to see you taking more pictures with you and Sylvie. They decided it was best to head back for the day. "Does this, kinda, mean were all friends now" you asked as you all were mounting up on your horses.
"Well, uhh" Wyatt said. "If that's what you want".
"Perfect! You guys are my besties now"!
"What's that mean" Virgil asked.
"It means were best friends now. All of us! Besties"! They didn't think much of it but still laughed all the same and did like the sound of it. As you all rode back, you told them stories and listened to music on the way back, but you had to put it away once you got into town. The wives of the Earps came out and welcomed them back. It certainly had been a long day and you needed to rest. You knew you would sleep good tonight knowing that this was one of the best days ever.

❀ *゚ kim mingyu. cis man. he/him. heterosexual. ⇝ hey, isn’t that Dae-Hyun (Noah) Moon? i think that the twenty-six year old from Bristol, United Kingdom works as carnival staff and clerk at the black dog motel, but outside of that people describe them as the faint laughter of children at that old victorian mansion late at night, dusty mats being dragged across an old floor and the heat of the spotlight, misplaced items and the slamming of doors at empty motel rooms. i hear they are closed-minded & anxious, but they are also known to be independent & reliable. consider giving them a visit at their home in seal harbor apartments and get to know why they’re called the unwilling witch.
Possible kidnapping tw, death mention tw
Mother and Father Moon fall in love after the circus is touring before establishing in Anchorage. The man comes from a rich family that certainly did not approve of the union, while the woman is part of the gymnastics act alongside the fortune teller tent.
Ignoring  family advice, the Father leaves with the love of his life and decides to join the circus life as well ( not without emptying most of the safe in the process ).
Unable to conceive at first, the Mother prays and prays every night to whoever is listening — God, the stars, deities, nature — until the miracle comes in the shape of a premature sickly baby that did not even cry after being born.
Doctors didn’t give much hope to the family so in one last plead for help, the Mother goes up to the highest hill she can find and prays to the moon the entire night for the health of her only son. Knowing she could not simply ask and not offer something in return, she offers the same she’s asking for: her son. “Have him!”, she exclaimed, “I will not be a jealous mother, take him in and let him be your servant. Save him and you can have him”.
                                                 And the moon listened.
In a few days the baby was healthy, his cheeks had color again and he was crying and eating properly.
Dae-Hyun grew up in the circus helping his Mother with the fortune telling and participating in some acrobatic acts as well, he helped to set the environment, move the mirrors and add the smoke when necessary, anything to make the act believable upon empty words and gibberish said by the woman. That was until the little boy interrupts to say something: an accurate reading. Something about someone’s mom leaving a personal item to them. Safe to say the person was moved to tears and soon, the word spread fast.
Many were coming to visit the witch boy as they called him to have their future read and everything was going good in general, until the gritty things started to came through. Disappearances, “fake” people, death. Things that people didn’t want to hear left the boy’s lips non-stop. Mother and Father decided to stop the act altogether when Dae-Hyun predicted the disappearance of his own Father.
A few years go by, most people seemed to forget about the crude readings, but when the boy was 7 years old and in need of a drink in the middle of the night, he saw the main door open. He peeked outside and saw his father apparently looking for something or someone in the dark. The boy was about to call for him when something snatched Father into the bushes.
The little boy stood there for a couple of hours in total shock; unable to really process what had happened, he simply closed the door and went upstairs to his bedroom. He definitely should have told Mother.
Next day, he takes longer than expected to go downstairs out of fear of what he might or might not find; but when his Mother came upstairs to bring him down for breakfast, everything seemed normal. Father was helping with the breakfast and Mother hummed to the song they were playing on the radio.
Dae-Hyun wondered if it had been only a nightmare, but something caught his attention later that day. He enjoyed playing with his Father’s wedding ring, it had pretty blue stones that shone nicely under the sun and usually, the mark of the band would be clearly visible on the man’s finger after taking it off. This time, when the boy asked his Father for the ring, the man looked puzzled as if asking why a child would want the ring for; second, the son noticed no mark of a ring on his Father’s finger; and third... “Be careful with that, Dae-Hyun, you cannot be playing around with it”. His Father would never doubt the child’s careful nature in the past.     His stomach dropped.    This man, this... THING, was NOT his Father.
He tried to tell Mother about it, he really did, but of course she would not buy it; even if she was always participant of her son’s stories, this one had gone too far and for too long. He was taken to a child therapist who dismissed the issue as nothing more than an early rebellious phase and a little dissociation common in children with a lot of imagination.
Dae-Hyun became more closed-off afterwards, feeling quite ignored after the situation with “Father”; he too, tried to convince himself that everything he had seen and experienced was just part of a wild imagination and soon enough, he shut himself down to any kind of fantastical or paranormal happening — or at least he thought he did.
The boy kept on perceiving and experiencing unexplainable things, but it didn’t matter how odd or nerve-wrecking the situation could be, he always got sure to find a logical explanation for it as stretched as it could get. He still helped around in the circus’ acts but when he reached high school, his parents decided to send him back to UK to study there and have more of a multicultural experience.
He then came back to Anchorage with a heavy British accent sometimes accidentally infused into his Korean. He decided to study college online going for a double major in physics and theology.
Dae-Hyun has tried to keep to himself most of the time at both of his jobs with the occasional odd sightings and unbodied whispers in his ear and if you approach him better be to ask about how to find the bathroom and not if he’s the famous witch boy.
Personality wise he’s rather serious and even unexpressive sometimes unless he’s teasing you for whatever reason; he is proud of his fluency in sarcasm and clapback. He is not one to express affection out loud except for his circus family, he will instead go for acts of service if possible. Being a psychic has allowed him to be empathetic to people’s needs so he will most likely get you the thing you needed before you have a chance to express it, so this makes him a reliable friend to have. Very afraid deep inside of his abilities and the possible existence of clones, Dae-Hyun will deny over and over again any crazy ass theory you come up with. “We live in a physical world and a physical world only”.
FACTS
His western name is Noah and most acquaintances call him that. You can also call him Dae-Hyun and he will still respond without a problem. Some people might prefer to call him Moon, though. Goes on preference for each person and he doesn’t mind either name.
Moved out from his parents trailer and into seal harbor apartments because he needed the space for himself; at least this is what he tells people, he was also being stalked by a couple of ghosts and wanted out of there as soon as possible. Adopted a black three-legged-cat called Tripod.
While he’s not an active participant of the acrobats crew, he still practices the routines regularly to keep himself in shape. He will usually help with whatever is needed at the circus, whether it be reparations, substitute or selling something.
Has a tattoo of the moon phases across his upper back. He said it was as a joke of his mom offering him to the satellite, but he does feel affection for that story.
Is kinda superstitious and you will rarely see him cursing someone, he wouldn’t really like to see someone being hit by a truck.
Really good at handling spicy food and is the kind of person who will eat whatever his companion(s) left on their plate.
Spends a lot of time playing mobile games. Refuses to own a console because he knows he won’t be leaving the apartment.
You will find him doodling on napkins or pieces of paper nonsense to pass the time wherever he is. He will also scribble random words and I cannot stress enough about how these words will most likely not be as random as he thinks they are.
Witches have crows, he has a bunch of pigeons following him around bc he sometimes ( always ) feeds them.
PINTEREST
PLAYLIST
TL;DR Dae-hyun has the 6th sense and absolutely refuses to acknowledge it. Sees ghosts and accidentally predicts stuff. Empathetic. Will reply to that question you made in your head when he thought you said it out loud. That kind of jazz. Just trying to leave a peaceful life and Anchorage not letting him. Majoring in physics and theology as a way to try and explain what he sees/hears.

Chapter 10
I continued to stare at that little plastic stick with the two pink lines as the tears streamed down my cheeks.
Oh thank god, we’re skipping ahead to the events immediately after the prologue.
"Good. Been a little busy today and I have a full day tomorrow, so I wanted to say hello and hear your voice."
I closed my eyes and tried to fight back the tears that were threatening to spill. Apparently, pregnancy made you emotional; all I wanted to do was cry and scream.
I think that wanting to cry in this situation is fairly normal. After all, she’s still a child herself; the ink on her high school diploma is barely dry. Not to mention the fact that her baby daddy is on the other side of the country.
…and a brochure about a local adoption agency. I was sure when the nurse saw my age and my marital status, she tossed that brochure in to help me.
I’m sure that she thought that it was helpful, but it’s a little rude and presumptuous.
Also, I love how abortion isn’t even at the table here.
I’m going to be angry if she never once considers abortion. Especially considering that this book is called Jocelyn’s CHOICE… Not “Jocelyn Being Forced To Carry A Pregnancy to Term Because She Lives in a Red State”.
/this book was published in 2011
Luckily, I had chosen to go to the local community college instead of one of the other three out-of-state schools that had accepted me. Max was willing to take out a loan for me to attend a university, but since I was undecided, and didn't really want to leave home, I couldn't see spending the money to go away. He said I could change my mind any time, and he would help me go. The decision to stay home may have paid off since I wouldn't be going anyway.
Did the author intentionally write it so that Jocelyn had no future hopes and dreams? I get being undecided, but even going so far as to not even apply for university?
After that, I'd have to figure out how to stay hidden in a town as small as this.
Chapter 10 summary: We mercifully skip over to the after-shock of her taking the pregnancy test. She obviously has to hide it, and then goes to take a call from Alex. She lies and says that she’s simply a little under the weather, but she should be fine. Inside, she’s fighting off tears.
She goes to a doctor to confirm the pregnancy, and the doc tells her that she conceived in February. The thought completely blows Jocelyn’s mind, because last February, she didn’t even know Alex.
After leaving the doctor’s office, she sits on a park bench to think about what she has to do. She obviously needs to tell Alex, but figures that this is something that requires a face-to-face conversation. She also has to tell her father, since they kind of live together. She’s only grateful that she never applied for college… And I said what I said about that.
Evan calls, since Alex had called him about Jocelyn’s “odd behaviour”. Which is nice that he’s trying to ensure that she’s okay, but if somebody says “I’m feeling a little sick; I only need to rest!” Why wouldn’t you take them at their word?
Evan says that his mum has been asking about her, so Jocelyn agrees to go over. She thinks that this would prove to Alex that she actually is okay, and she needs to do it soon before she starts to show.

The Alpha's Beta - Chapter 13 - Part 1
BOOK ONE: The Alpha's Trilogy

Valium - Part 1
Alpha Silas Claymore
I got the call at around noon on the 28th from Dr. Victors.
The test results were back and he'd like to see me as soon as possible.
As I made my way from the house, Simon 'who was out for a jog' spotted me and decided he wanted to join, that it was wrong for me to go alone and find out I was drugged.
Even if we already knew it.
He seemed to be in a better mood.
He smiled more and talked more calmly.
Running did great things for him, it got his mind off all the demons that played in his head.
The office was empty when we walked in, Tara, Victors receptionist told us to sit since he was seeing someone at the time.
She smiled brightly at Simon who was wearing tight jogging pants and a tight blue jogging t-shirt with it.
Leaving almost nothing to the imagination.
He didn't seem to notice her as he sat down and continued on about Ellis' younger brother Ivan and all the fun they had, had at the mall yesterday.
Ivan was by far the cutest kid in the pack, he's only eleven but his attitude is like a sixteen year old girl and his fashion.
Don't get me started on his clothing.
I saw him walking around the other day at the near by park, in a green kid-size football jersey with 'King 00' on the back and a pink tutu with black leggings and of course beaten up sneakers.
Ellis' mother was never a fan of gender rolls and liked to let her kids dress in what ever they pleased.
I can remember Ellis coming to school in pink tank top's and baggy jeans.
No one really cared how they dressed though.
Not just because at the time Ellis' father was the lead hunter and would kick anyone's ass who talked bad about his boys but because they were both well liked kids, never getting into  to much trouble and always able to poke fun at themselves if needed.
Everyone enjoys the spunk Ivan has and wouldn't dare make him upset because frankly he was far to cute to make cry.
"Alpha. Simon. It's nice to see you both today. Come with me please," I hear Victors say, pulling me from my thoughts.
I get up with Simon and follow the doctor to the room at the end of the hall.
It looks like any normal doctors office.
Medical tools on the wall, charts with a human body and of course a wolf's anatomy too.
After doing all the regular check 'my heart beat and my temperature' he asked if I felt odd.
Which thankfully after a goods night sleep, I felt 100% back to normal.
The doctor grabbed a file, placed it in his lap and looked at Simon and myself.
"Now, I need to ask you. Have you let anyone handle your food in the last, say four years?"
I sit back in the chair provided, next to Simon and thought about it, then nodded my head.
"My father used to make me coffee in the mornings but besides that Simon would normally cook supper, after he moved out I started making my own. Why?"
"Well," he says, clearing his throat.
"It seems for a good while, I could only assume your coffee had been drugged. We found high traces of diazepam, better known as Valium in your system, so much so any normal human would have overdosed long ago."
I narrow my eyes at him, trying to take in what he just told me.
My own father drugging me.
But why?
"But,'" he continues.
"Whatever was given to you this passed week seems to have flushed your system. I say if you didn't ask me to take blood when I did I wouldn't have found the Valium at all. Though its normally used for an anti-depressant, the dosage you were given could have blocked emotions or thinking clearly."
"Now you seem like a level headed man Alpha Silas. So I can only assume you must have been given it to block emotions. Why? I have no idea. I also can't tell you what emotions were blocked. You may feel angry or tired in the next few days. So just be aware. Besides that, you seem very healthy."
I nod before getting up and shaking his hand.
Thanking him for doing all that he's done.
Then reassure him that I'm fine and haven't had any mood swings.
It explained it though, why I didn't know Darren was my mate when we first met.
I felt a slight bond but pushed it aside as a Alpha/Beta bond.
When really it was the mates bond but the real questions still stands.
Why would my father drug me and why would these shifters want the drugs out of me.
'And how did they know.'
I mull everything over as I walk along side Simon, who has his ear buds in and is scrolling through his cell-phone, 'again'
"So," he says taking one ear bud out and looking over at me.
"Have you been feelings any different?"
I shake my head and watch as two of the pack warriors walk by.
They nod to me and continue what they're doing.
Which is gathering all stray animals and taking them to the city for 'adoption.'
Thankfully the only animals that come near the pack are dogs.
Deer's, moose and other animals don't come to close because they can smell wolves and what smart deer would walk right into wolf lands.
We normally have to go a few miles out for hunting and even then there aren't to many.
"The only thing I'm feeling right now is stress. After the pack meeting yesterday everybody seems to be a little spooked. I mean I haven't seen anyone out for a walk today and the kids all got drove to school, when they could have walked. I hate seeing the pack paranoid. They should all feel safe."
"Silas we should talk about this. I mean. That man drugged your coffee for four years. I mean that has to hit pretty hard."
"No Simon it doesn't 'hit me hard' it's really no shock to me. Dad was crazy and unstable. He was probably trying to weaken me so I wouldn't become Alpha when I turned of age. You know how paranoid he got. We were all out to get him. He would have done anything to make sure he stayed in control."
Simon nods along but I can see the pain in his eyes.
I hate bringing our father up because I know all it does is cause him pain and nightmares.
I try not to think about him either because his face still haunts my dreams.
Whether it be him smiling or the smirk he wore when he died.
I shake the thought from my head as I placed my hand on Simon's neck.
"Listen, how about I come over tonight and make supper, give you a break."
He smiles and nodded before biting his lip.
"But be there on time or I'll start making it without you."
I chuckle shaking his head, knowing good and well he isn't joking when he says that.
