Mmm-hay, returning to this very crucial "Samurai Bravo" issue:

Jack is a little unnerved by sushi restaurants in Johnny's neck of the woods, especially when he finds out that they all serve raw salmon. He is both a little flattered and a little horrified by the whole experience of Johnny taking him to one, and the adventure ends with Jack insisting that Johnny come over so he can make him some real food.

Johnny proves to be incredibly adept with chopsticks. And he's really enthusiastic about how much he enjoys everything. And Jack feels...something? He smiles a lot.

Johnny really butchers his first, "Domo air-a-gatto," but he's sincere. And that first, crisp, "Hey. Kanpai, good buddy," makes Jack swoon a little, for reasons he does not fully understand yet.

Johnny helps with the dishes. He does a lot of dancing during the process. Mostly with his butt, but also his shoulders. Everything comes out sparkling.

At the end of the night, when they part ways, Johnny's like, "Okay, how do you feel about corndogs? 'Cause there's this place down at the beach that's got great curly fries, too..." And Jack's like, "Uh...you...want to keep doing...this?" And Johnny's like, "...Well, yeah. You just made me a crazy awesome dinner, and our first...uhhh...was a bust." [POSE] "This town's got a lot to prove," [POSE], "and I'm gonna show you a good time."

Jack has an absolute attack of the vapors, but maintains his composure. They agree to go to the beach together in the near future.

HAI OFCOURS in my au sonic is sort of a trend setter.. SINCE LIKE in the 2000s sonic games i think there is a bit of rock music.. n sonic gets into it and starts wearing darker clothes,, stuff like tripp nyc and affliction!! He ends up getting his own guitar and then REALLY gets into it!! This inspires team sonic nd amy to get into it too,, tails is inspired by 2010 scemo stuff! He loves all the characters popular in it like domo and hello kitty! Amy sort of reflects emo princess stuff? She wears black frilly dresses with bits of pink and knee high converse! She has more so spikey hair with emo fringe like my blaze! Knuckles is more of a nu metal guy tho.. he wears tripp too but likes brands like dc too!! He also plays drums n usually learns the drummer parts in his fav bands.. i think he likes korn and system of a down!! Maybe hed get silly and listen to some sum 41 with sonic ^_^ other characters like team dark i think would already have their own style without sonics influence.. shadow reminds me of mallgoth stuff,, hes a bit emo too i think he would liek mcr.. shadow is a bit silly though.. while he likes the fashion i think he would get into this when he was going through a phase and just kinda hold onto it. ROUGE ROUGE shes more into it bc she likes fashion!! She would wear miss me jeans and juicy couture but those cool affliction prints in a fitted shirt way!! BLAZE AND SILVER R LIKE SCENE AND EMO BESTIES I THINK!! in my au when silver gets a look at sonic he goes to blaze and tells her all about it!! The procedure for "retiring" a shinigami to any given Reoyoki varied, but Unohana was approached by active shinigami only by appointment. Yes, any soul in Soul Society could walk up and ask Unohana-san to eat them - the 4th Division captain rarely said no. Okay so Hay Hay and me have a ✨slight✨ amount of beef. You see, in my opinion he’s a fantastic character but he’s actually very mean to Katniss. Esp in the post-hijacked-Peeta-portion of Mockingjay. Like meaner than most people seem to think???? I guess it’s just me who got personally offended on behalf of my girl, Kat Kat, but like??? Some of the stuff he said???? He was much more caustic in the books than Woody Harrelson’s version (albeit, his portrayal of Haymitch was perfection, don’t get it twisted, but written a little softer for the screen) and there are many a time when I’m like???? “How mean, bro????” When reading him and Katniss’ interactions in the books.

I didn’t realize though that I even differentiated from others in this opinion until I was writing Dancing On My Own and like, okay. Haymitch has two sides to him, one he shows a lot (the meaner one) and one he rarely shows (the kind, sweet one) and for DOMO I was tapping into the more harsh, mean, hard on Katniss one (sidebar but also, for a lot of Mockingjay he was v hard on her, like she almost died and is v traumatized, a little sympathy here please???) but I have gotten many a comment that Haymitch is too mean to her in that fic (so far. You gotta make a behavior v noticeable in order to do a pendulum swing later on in a story) and it made me realize that I definitely have held onto his meaner side from the text when writing fics whereas most I think held onto the kinder, funnier side. Which I’ll get to too btw just haven’t yet in DOMO.

At the dressing room.

Aizou complains about his throat and is about to drink water.

Yuujirou, in a deep exhausted voice: Aizou, me too. Water.

Aizou: Ha? Get it urself

And Aizou brings up Yuujirou's wrong dance steps.

Yuujirou mentions that after their lessons and Aizou takes a shower, why does everytime he forgets to bring his towel

Yuujirou: as i thought you are an idiot. BAKAZOU

Aizou: *stuttering a lot while trying to come up a counter argument*

He did come up with one though and it ended with,

Aizou: anyways hurry and go home

And they argue a final one.

Aizou mentions that nothing changed, no one still comes at this place.

Aizou comments it's been a while since he came here. And that before their debut, he comes here everyday after their lessons and that Yuujirou and him practiced here.

Aizou, backtracks: Enough about him.

Also Aizou: *thinks and monologues about yuujirou again*

Yuujirou: Hehe. You're really friendly (affectionate).

Aizou: Huh? That voice just now... From around here...

Aizou remembers and reminds Yuujirou this was the place when that happened. When he wasnt able to sing, Yuujirou calling him an idiot many times and telling him to sing while holding his collar.

Aizou: Somehow it's nostalgic.

And both of them start getting nostalgic and talking.

Aizou states he doesn't have any plans to go back to before of not being an idol. Yuujirou says he's the same. Aizou says he also doesn't intend to quit halfway. And yuujirou's the same too, that he's willing to bet his life. And at this point, it's now an exchange of varieties of being there for each other and covering each other when one messes up. Both laugh.

Aizou's comments he's hungry and invites Yuujirou for ramen (date haha jk). Yuujirou saying, no way he'd go with Aizou, lmao. Aizou complains ofc and Yuujirou counters "I didnt ask you to invite me".

Yuujirou, you want to eat ramen right??? Im in the mood for omurice.

Aizou: Then go with your omurice

Yuujirou: And you're going to eat your ramen by yourself

Yuujirou tells him to stop (about all of this) and comments "how unpleasant".

Aizou: That should be my line!

Yuujirou: Hurry up and go you idiot!

Aizou: Even if you don't tell me I will!

disclaimer that if you know enough about rap to be able to actually discuss and compare this sort of thing, uh, i have to warn you i don't so you might take psychic damage from reading this. but I TRIED

(also, this does not include the stage plays songs, sorry about that. it also does not include the curry thing, because i refuse to acknowledge it, thank you.)

ALSO OBVIOUSLY THIS IS JUST MY OPINION and if you disagree id love to hear why. this is just for fun and because the funnyman lives rent free in my head

14. sasara's verse with rosho in Aikata: deep sigh... im holding myself back from ranting for 10 paragraphs about this, but i genuinely think this showcases all their flaws as partners. it's not atrocious or anything, it's just. their styles cancel out in a way that reflects all their fears come true. it's cute tho

13. Survival of the Illest: Maybe I just didn't like the live performance, so I won't be able to rank it for sure until we get the official version of this and the BAT ones, but given Dotsuhon live performances tend to be even better than the studio versions, I'm inclined to say I straight up don't like his verse here lol?

12. Wara Osaka: ......yeah this is just thoroughly meh to me. Gives me the same vibes as his verse with Rosho in Aikata. Just not interesting. At least the song itself is really fun for something to vibe with without demanding that much attention.

11. Summit of Divisions (the bit from the leaders section in the trailer): Literally the most forgettable verse in this part of the song. Not bad, just thoroughly unremarkable both in the context of Sasara's verses and in the fact that all the other leaders have STELLAR verses here. Structure wise it makes sense going into Kuko's final verse, which probably only hits AS hard BECAUSE sasara's bit passes right by you, but still.

10. his parts in N☆PS: This song is fantastic, but Sasara is really just here as the glue to tie things together- the real standouts in this one are Rei and Rosho. Still, special shotout to him counting down in a speech.

9. sasara's solo verse in Aikata: perfectly standard sasara rap. this is like the baseline of what should be expected from this clown imo. the lyrics are kinda toothless but the way he delivers it doesn't disappoint

8. Joy for Struggle: It's only just a bit above The Sasara Standard Of Quality. Real good, real fun, takes advantage of the fantastic instrumentals of the song, and his confidence carries him a long way- but let's be honest, Ichiro sort of wiped the floor with him on this one

7. His first verse in Summit of Divisions: Judged solely as rap his bit here is nothing special, but in the context of the song itself, it's one of the most fun parts, he really leans into the vibe of the song by giving a little breather that's still genuinely fun and keeps the energy going into Rosho's verse.

6. Helter Skelter: much like everything else about sasara in helter skelter, his verse here is INTERESTING... he drops a lot of his usual flair and instead delivers a very, hm, i don't know enough about rap to describe it; it's very technically impressive compared to his usual stuff? I wouldn't be surprised if this is a peek at what he sounded like in Ikebukuro. If he'd carried this energy into Joy for Struggle it would have at least been a more interesting fight

5. Division Battle Anthem +: ...I think Sasara may well be the ONLY person who perfomed BETTER in Rap Battle than in Battle Anthem. I still prefer his verse here, but it's very style over sustance. That in no way means it's bad tho because absolutely NO ONE has a bad or even mediocre verse in this song, and I appreciate his kanto-ben joke its cute

4. Division Rap Battle +: I don't actually like his verse here much, but relistening I have to admit it's actually very, hmm... it's sasara going all out with style, he does SO much in just 20 seconds. In Tragic Transistor he calls himself a southpaw rapper, and I don't know enough about rap to know if he's bullshitting or not, but this verse makes it hard to argue with him.

3. Tragic Transistor: He does not shut up for a single SECOND in this entire song, and lets none of that time go to waste. The song itself barely changes at all, and the choruses are relatively speaking very short, so he carries the whole entire three minutes by himself without it EVER getting boring. He manages to rap for a whole song about himself, without actually SAYING anything meaningful about himself, and yet STILL asserting dominance WHILE being a clown. this song is a joy to rap

2. Aikata(s): Unironically fantastic, which goes for rosho's parts as well. in many shonen Fights Between Allies (tm), i feel like even if they SAY they're not holding back, they end up being like "oh it doesnt matter who wins, what matters is that we're enjoying the battle and giving it our all" etc. well this is NOT the case here, they are HONEST TO GOD BOTH FIGHTING TO WIN, and sasara genuinely throws out some lines i wouldn't have thought he'd say to rosho. just a great battle imo

Osaka Dreamin Night: talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not ever been done before, COME ON EVERY PART OF HIS VERSE HERE IS ICONIC. I did! I saw it in theatres a few weeks ago, I'll put my thoughts under a read more in case anyone is avoiding spoilers still~ also it got a bit long 😬

OK, so it's been a few weeks since I watched it, I think it was in December, so this review is entirely reliant on my shitty memory 😆 I keep saying I'll rewatch it now that it's on Disney+, but I haven't yet. I almost turned it on this evening but it was already 9 PM and when I clicked on it I remembered it's over 2 and a half hours long and that's not going to happen lmao it's a work night, I should be in bed well before the time it'd be ending

Who's my fav: Oh boy, I think I like all of them in one way or another, but if I had to pick one I'd say Ikaris (though Phastos is a close second). I like Richard Madden and I think he did a great job in the role, and as for the character like. the betrayal sucks but I can kinda see where he's coming from? He's just doing what he was created to do, plus I think it's fair to say he never fell in love with the planet the way the others did (to various degrees), like immediately after waking up on the Domo, Sersi is already marveling at the planet, commenting on how beautiful it is, but he barely glances at it cause he's already in love with her. And in the flashbacks he always focuses on her rather than anyone else around them, and in the end it's when he has to face her is when he falters and falls apart. The fact he has to fight her (and everyone else) hurts him more than what's going to happen to the planet, but he wasn't ever really there for the planet anyways. Which I realize doesn't give any justification for why I'd chose him as a favourite, but uuuhh. Ikaris hot and well acted, that's why. (also, hilariously, he's like 70% of the reason I need to watch it here at home cause I need subtitles to understand what he's saying half the time 😂😂 I hadn't seen him in anything before Eternals tbf and since then I've watched a couple other things, so I think I have a better grasp on understanding his accent so I probably wouldn't struggle as much, but still hahaha There's probably lots more I missed without subtitles, half the characters I only know their names cause I've been able to google them since then)

Fave scene: I liked both the fight in the jungle and on the beach, though that jungle fight is dark af, like where's the lighting budget on this film??? Anyways, both fights were really cool, and of course the whump 😏 Coulda been more!! But still good 👌

Fave non-fight scene though is probably when Sersi and Ikaris show up at Phastos place and he's like "ah yes. These are my friends. From ~college~." Ben: "ah yes. ~College~." And Jack being absolutely adamant that Ikaris is Superman was really cute. And then later when Ikaris blasts the doors to show the shield Phastos had up, somehow takes that as a sign that the whole house must be indestructible for some dumb-ass reason and breaks the table 😆😆 Even knowing that was coming because of the trailers, it still absolutely killed me

Fave dynamic: This ones tough cause there are so many great dynamics between them all!!! To my memory, especially so when Kingo was involved 😆 but there were more than a couple parts where it's not the main focus, but there's a conversation going on in the background and the combination of foreground acting and background conversation made me dissolve into laughter, like when they're newly back on the Domo and Kingo's trying to explain to Makkari what a Kindle is, and then realizes he'll have to explain what an iPad is too, meanwhile in the foreground Ikaris and Druig are having a stare down before quickly trading the Twinkies and the tablet.

Overall, Yeah I did like the movie! I wouldn't say it's my favourite, but probably still in my top 5 of the MCU (but worth noting I haven't seen No Way Home yet and it sounds like everybody else fucking loves it, we'll have to see if that affects my rating when I get around to seeing it lol) There were definitely parts that could've been improved on (*cough lighting cough*) and also the sex scene??? Why was that necessary at all???? idk man, could've been left out, shaved a few seconds off that long ass run time and it wouldn't have been missed imo

Pet - Thoughts and Musings

I am back with my seasonal anime musings/analysis/reviews/whatever. Because of various reasons, I have not written any of these posts since...I don’t know...last spring anime season? LOL I still have soooo many on my list from last year to watch gahhh. But I did caught up with Beastars and Araburu Kisetsu no Otome-domo yo - both of which were awesome, by the way. I wanted to write some things for them (especially Araburu, because I felt like there’s a lot of things I wanted to say), but...I don’t know. Life caught up?

Anyway, here’s Pet, with an average score of 6.57/10 on MAL. Quite a low one for my taste, as I rarely watch anything with a score below 7. However, this is one of those anime I decided to see not because of the MAL score or anyone else’s influence, but because I wanted to. Heck, when it was first announced, I was immediately excited, because 1) it’s directed by Omori Takahiro, who directed some of my all-time favorite anime, such as Natsume Yuujinchou, Durarara, Baccano, and Hotarubi no Mori e; 2) the screenplay is done by Sadayuki Murai, another favorite who has also worked alongside Omori-kantoku-san and was also the one behind Sidonia no Kishi’s series composition; and 3) the entire synopsis just sounds...soo good?? Not to mention that short PV-like thing they released way back when

OK, yes, I’m not fluent in Japanese, but the music and Hiroki’s voice acting really caught me.

However, time passed, and there was no word on the anime at all until it was announced that the anime was pushed back until the winter season of 2020. Now, I still had my initial hype, but I also had my doubts. It probably had production issues and so on. Things like that often don’t bring their best to the table and ends up becoming a disappointment. It showed on the first episode.

That episode was weird. I read what people thought about it on some forums and none gave me a positive image of the anime. But I thought, what the heck? There’s no harm on checking it. Though it wasn’t entirely bad, it was weird, and I had no idea what was happening. There was so much going on and the art felt a bit weird and the story seemed all over the place and I thought, ah, it shows.

My impression of it was: this show seems like it will have a good story, but not until some time later, so maybe I should wait for several more weeks and binge-watch it then. However, I came to learn that episode 2 was much better than its predecessor. It cleared up any kind of confusion and erased some doubts. It piqued my interest again. And now that I have finally caught up with the show, I am glad that I did not drop it. 

Because so far, Pet is amazing.

Since it’s been two weeks since I saw the first episode, it took a while to grasp the meaning of the terms and so on, but once I’ve got it, it was quite easy to get absorbed inside the show. There were a few time jumps and technical terms were thrown all over the place, and I needed to remind myself that is the director who made Baccano and Durarara. Durarara had a relatively continuous timeline, but the way it jumped POVs in those first few episodes were quite baffling and you only understood what was what much later on. Baccano was crazier imo, as I read that, unlike the light novels, Omori-san took the liberty to rearrange the story in the anime to make it so that there are several stories set in different timelines in one episode, and there are those terms and whatnot and though it makes a good mystery, it doesn’t make much sense, until that one episode where everything finally clicks into place.

I have a similar problem with Pet. I can see that the story so far is intriguing. We have these “crushers” and then “pets” and then loci in the minds containing memories, divided into “peaks” and “valleys”. And then there are “images”, which I think is some kind of protection armor? A form they take to get inside other people without letting themselves be consumed by the other’s memories and feelings. Aside from that, we have a “Company” with people who have the ability to get inside other people’s minds and alter memories. What’s worse is that we’re immediately dumped in the middle of the action with not much introduction, so all we can do is just sit tight and hang on, hoping for the best that everything will make sense in the end.

And then of course, we have our enigmatic characters.

First up, Hiroki, your shounen character in a serious drama. The longer I listen to him, the more annoyed I am haha. I don’t know. His voice kind of irritates me. Maybe because he’s this naive kid with a strong ability that doesn’t really understand what’s happening around him. And then there is that dependence toward Tsukasa, whom I will get to after this. Episode 3 makes me like him though. His heart is clearly in the right place, just that he’s in a bad environment, so he doesn’t know what to do. He is the character who will question the righteousness of their actions. I believe he hates his abilities, but using it has been ingrained into his body that sometimes, he’s unconsciously using it. Like when he almost got inside Katsuragi’s head, or when he showed the girl in episode 3 what her boyfriend was like (though it was partly his imagery of him, and he knew that and that’s why he was so conflicted when she came back). I can imagine what his childhood must have been like. Probably shunned. Probably lonely. Much like how Satoru had been before Hayashi “saved” him. And then Tsukasa came, who showed him how to protect himself and to utilize his powers. Tsukasa was his savior. That’s why in episode 2, though he was reluctant to kill, he also wanted to show Tsukasa that he could do it. They didn’t have to kill. He could save this man using his powers. he wanted to prove himself to Tsukasa. I am amazed that his heart has not been tainted, and I have high hopes for his character.

Next, we have Tsukasa. Even from the posters, this guy already looked fishy. In the first episode, there’s something off about him. He’s just too good. Too accommodating toward Hiroki. Hiroki wants something, then he’s going to give it. Hiroki says not to go with Satoru. All right, I won’t go with Satoru. Hiroki wants a shop. Here, this is for you, but I used the Company’s money, so I’m going to have to pay them back by doing jobs for them. Yeah I know you told me you don’t want to do any more of them, but I’ll be the one doing them, not you. You just need to sit tight and work on your little shop. You know that’s not what Hiroki meant. Still, I like him. So far, he’s a cool character, and I like him even more on his solo job in episode 3. But what I love the most is:

That smirk! Because yes, all this time, all we’ve seen are his facades. His facade when he is with Hiroki. His facade with Katsuragi. His facade when he does a job. And then we have this moment, this small moment, and much like how that small moment with the girl who buys guppies and her boyfriend builds up Hiroki’s character, this small moment between Katsuragi and Tsukasa, when Katsuragi tells him that his next job will be Hayashi and Tsukasa pauses for a moment before asking if Hayashi has been found, it speaks volume. Because then finally Tsukasa shows us his true self (or, at least, part of his true self). His tone changes. He scolds Katsuragi for being happy or pleased.

You seem strangely happy for someone who was outwitted for two whole years.

Tsukasa is clearly talking down to him. Katsuragi, who we thought was the boss. Katsuragi, who was the jerk who would kill people to get the job done quickly. He is surprised at the sudden change and becomes visibly nervous. He stiffens and keeps his eyes on the road. Tsukasa goes on to give orders to Katsuragi. Then Katsuragi nervously puts out his cigarette and says, somewhat formally, “Understood.” (though he’s just saying “hai” in Japanese, but it’s vastly different from the Katsuragi we know in the last two episodes). He obeys Tsukasa. 

I did wonder if Katsuragi was under Tsukasa’s control, but it didn’t seem like it. Heck, Tsukasa might actually be one of the Company’s higher-ups (or he might even be the Head of the Company, if I want to stretch it). And then we have that split-second smirk, that shows he is in complete control of the situation. It makes sense with how he refers to Hiroki as his “pet” in such an off-handed manner. It also makes sense with how he makes cold, calculating judgment. Of course he’s using the Company’s money to buy the shop. Of course he’s still doing odd jobs for the Company. He’s not the good guy he shows Hiroki he is.

Right now, I can actually see Tsukasa being the “big bad boss” of the series, if this series has any kind of villain. Or, well, I think he’d make a pretty good anti-hero. Just imagine a showdown between Tsukasa and Hiroki... So far, I am most intrigued with Tsukasa and I hope he will have a great arc.

"Update on the uwu and kq drawing, i completely scrapped it. The base took me 30 minutes to do and im still not ok with so i thought i would make a chibi version, i tried making her eyes look down while also having a cheerful look but that didnt work either, in the end i rage quit and deleted that shit and now im thinking about the people that can draw better and shade better than me and now i need heavens door. Maybe ill try to draw again when i wake up"

Damn dude i really felt this shit on a spiritual level ngl😔😔😔😔it really b like that sometimes esp w art but u dont have to push it since if u do that it wont work at all....my advice is that u take a break (even some days long breaks help) then return when u feel like it and maybe use a reference too esp when it comes to anatomy and such
