The lyrics of "Fascination" by Tamino Amir are an intimate exploration into the complexities of relationships and admiration. Tamino speaks of his appreciation for someone special in his life, a person who sees beauty in small moments and has taught him to open his eyes wider to seek out the joy that lies within it all. He acknowledges the stark differences between them, expressed through lines such as “I lack the colours reflected in your eyes” and “for me they don’t seem to appear” showing just how much he yearns for her inner sparkle that illuminates everything around her. As the song progresses, you can feel how entranced Tamino is with this person’s fascination; their eccentricity and their contagious optimism become a source of inspiration for him, slowly but surely pushing away any semblance of pessimism that may have crept up before in him.

Yet while it is clear they share an intense bond, there remains a certain tension between them--the realization that they are different yet equal, allowing both to exist even if on different ends of the spectrum. A bridge perfectly sums up this sentiment: “For when I recall, all the nights we have lost waking in your love, I cry” conveys the powerful emotion shared between them despite not always being able to connect on a regular basis; both know exactly what they are missing out on but simultaneously rejoice in what they do have--love rooted deep inside two optimistic hearts.

In short, "Fascination" is an incredible showcase of artistry and emotion driven by intricate lyrical composition. It delves into various aspects of relationships from empathy to admiration and captures emotions so often overlooked elsewhere. It delves into various aspects of relationships from empathy to admiration and captures emotions so often overlooked elsewhere. It,s because of these reasons why this song is arguably one of the greatest songs made in this century --it celebrates our humanness through its heartfelt lyrics speaking out about connection and understanding, no matter how short-lived or fleeting it may be at times.

In sleep he sang to me, in dreams he came 💜
He named himself Moose <-- I didn't know why until I looked it up. It's some masculine bullshit thing. And honestly it fits him, how slimy he acts.

Reflecting On Bug Hunter's Discography
While my body might be aching from how much cleaning I did last weekend (well, on the day I wrote this, anyway), my mind is feeling refreshed and buoyed since I spent all that time listening to some fun music by the band/artist Bug Hunter!
About two months ago, I wrote about a new album by an artist I’d first heard of long ago and then somehow lost track of for years (twice, even, thanks to the weird way the internet works). This past weekend, while I was cleaning in preparation for having guests over, I finally turned away from the new album and worked my way through the band’s entire discography. I played all but one of them on…

In Rainbows Appreciation post.
Tumblr media
It's been about fifteen and a half years since Radiohead's 'In Rainbows'. I'm sure I could talk about the music theory, the syncopations, the rhythmic complexities, the time signatures, the themes and juxtapositions for hours at an end, but I am writing this because I wanted to share with the world about what this album means to me and what it makes me feel.
This work of art has had a special place in me for as long as I can remember now. I've turned to this record on blazing summer days, on cold winter evenings, and on days when it rained as if the world was going to end tomorrow, and everytime it has unmistakably made me feel that same warm, languor-like fuzziness I first knew it for.
From the crisp drums in the intro to 15 step to the final piano ballad on videotape, this album does in those forty two minutes what I could only wish to do in a lifetime. Although years have passed I can still sympathise and relate to the fears and apprehensions Thom sings about on this record oh so beautifully. It may sound rather outlandish but this album has helped me come to terms with a plenty of things and it is something I've grown up alongside with. I will always forget my house of cards and return to it over and over again with new experiences and sensibilities each time.
A million thanks to the five lads from Oxfordshire for making something so very dear to me.
