Little design practice with Princess Alucion, an echidna character exclusive to a short-lived French Sonic comic.

My idea was that she would be one of Knuckles ancestors in-between Pachacamac & Tikal's time and the present day. A devoted guardian of the Master Emerald but still keen on restoring the Knuckles' clan to it's former glory. She uses the Emerald for her own gain but too much exposure to the M.E. starts to curse her body. A sad fate that could have potentially happened to Knuckles if Chaos wasn't calmed in Sonic Adventure.

I dunno, I think Alucion is a neat little piece of Sonic history so I think it'd be fun trying to find a place to make her fit somewhere.

As Sonic Universe Smack-down (or SUS as I like to call it) can't begin until all of the tournaments have found their winners, it will be a bit until it begins, but you can give them a follow to make sure you see when they start

Tikal and Shade have better designs that every single echidna Penders has created because they aren't Knuckles copies. Even the echidna chief that showed up in Adventure looks more distinct because he actually has another body type.

Okay talking about hyphenated games got me thinking. If Pre-Reboot Archie Knuckles was female what would their name be? Obviously it'd have "-Le" at the end of the name but what about the rest?

You know, there used to be someone with a really good genderbend name for Knuckles following the Echidna convention, but I’ve long since forgotten it. 

Hmm... man, this is hard. Howabout ‘Cion-Le’? Derived from ‘Alucion’, the Echidna princess in that obscure French comic book.

even after all these years i can't believe Penders single handlely inserted all this echidna shit (no offense to those who like those characters but) into the sonic universe and fandom. so many shitty echidna OCs, Knuckles recolors. would make Penders proud.

He’s not the first who had the idea- the French comic “Sonic AdventureS” introduced a whole bushel of Echidna (though only one with a name- Alucion). It’s not exactly a stretch to examine the idea that Knuckles isn’t really the last, given how depressing it makes his existence. And as for the recolor thing… to be fair, SEGA didn’t exactly do stellar on that front in Sonic Adventure barring Pachachamac, particularly since no examples of other Echidna outside of Knuckles were provided. 

That having been said, what *isn’t* justified is the way that Penders allowed the Echidna lore to consume everything, or his various attempts to put his echidna at the forefront as the most important people of the setting, to say nothing of trying to boost Knuckles into the true hero of the setting over the title character of the series. And that’s *without* getting into the incredible ineptitude of his writing and how convoluted and nonsensical it all became as it went on.
