There’s this weird insistence in TG fandom that Alys was happy with Aemond, even though he was directly responsible for the destruction of her family. People compare her to characters like Falia Flowers, who embraced her captors. Alys is described as a “war prize.” That term alone makes it clear she wasn’t there by choice. A war prize isn’t someone who consents to their circumstances. The idea that she was happy with Aemond or fully complicit in his actions just doesn’t hold up. Yet, TG still insists she went along with everything Aemond did, no matter her actual role or lack thereof. I bet that she knew what was going to happen at the Gods Eye and chose not to warn Aemond because she fucking hated him. Even if she had done absolutely nothing, if she had just kept to herself and continued living her life, people would have still labeled her as a seductress or manipulative. Why? Because she ticks all the boxes of what society loves to villainize: she’s a woman, a bastard, a witch, and someone who stands out as different.

Yes, and what defines her being a "temptress" is that Aemond should have taken a younger woman regardless of how good looking Alys was AND she should have gone down south w/Cole to join Daeron's/the Hightower army. and instead of scrutinizing Aemond's desire to be "better" than Daeron and "prove himself", the writers and other contemporary witnesses seemed much more compelled to shift the blame on the woman that they sometimes say was the "real" reason Aemond wanted to stay at Harrenhal. whenever a man doesn't do what he's "supposed to" or the "normal" thing or simply does somethign very stupid against his own advantage, it's often chalked up to his sex partner--married or not--influencing him to do that thing or not to do so. Also, because a man is also "supposed to" be eager for "proving himself" as well.

Imagine what a downgrade Aemond was for Alys who saw Daemon capturing Harrenhal without bloodshed and gaining the support of the smallfolk while his piss poor version slaughtered defenseless children and old men. Bloodthirsty, incompetent, stupid, less powerful, less charismatic, the only joy is seeing how Daemon gets rid of him for her lmao.

Though, once more, I have little faith or expectations for the 2nd season of HotD, I am still curious about how they will transition Alys-Daemon-Aemond's interactions and the clear differences between her interactions with D vs A. You bring up a great thing to contemplate, anon.
