In the Form of a Question by Amy Schneider
goodreads
Tumblr media
An inspirational and bold memoir from the most successful woman ever to compete on Jeopardy! —and an exploration of what it means to ask questions of the world and of yourself. In eighth grade, Amy was voted “Most likely to appear on Jeopardy! ” by her classmates. Decades later, this trailblazer finally got her chance. Not only did she walk away with $1.3 million while captivating the world with her impressive forty-game winning streak, but she made history and won an even greater prize—the joy of being herself on national television and blazing a trail for openly queer and transgender people around the world. Now, she shares her singular journey that led to becoming an unlikely icon and hero to millions. Her super Boundless curiosity and fearless questioning. In the Form of a Question explores some of the innumerable topics that have fascinated Amy throughout her life—books and music, Tarot and astrology, popular culture and computers, sex and relationships—but they all share the same to illustrate, and celebrate, the results of a lifetime spent asking, why?
Mod opinion: I hadn't heard of this book before, but it sounds like an interesting memoir.

Jeopardy! Amy's memoir drops October 3rd and I can't wait. With absolutely no offense intended to the guy champs - I love them all - it's just so nice to finally have a lady in their ranks. And I love her Lisa Simpson pearls.

Despite how much of a fan I am, I never thought I’d have a favorite Jeopardy episode. That has now changed.

I just got a nice text from my aunt, she has been following Amy Schneider in the Tournament of Champions and wanted to let me know that hearing her talk about herself and her transition has deepened her understanding of trans people and of my own transition.
Never let anyone say representation doesn’t matter. I’m an adult and transitioned as an adult and representation helps cis folks understand. It is so so so important for trans youth.

I'm listening to Getting Curious with Jonathan Van Ness, What's It Like To Be A Jeopardy! Icon? with Amy Schneider, and jvn quotes her from her book, and I *think* I put the metaphorical quotes in the right spots bc jvn didn't ever verbally unquote lol I think this quote was too mind blowing to remember (it is mind blowing so it's understandable)...
"so you also write about dealing with ADD, and in the book you say, quote, 'ADD made me literally addicted to learning.' And I loved your point that, when you're talking about your internal mental processes, 'what's the difference between a disorder and a soul?'
HONEY!"
that hit me like a traaaiiinnn!!!!
