The shoe is a bad miracle. The shoe stands up by random chance. It’s a beautiful thing. A wonderful thing. Surrounded by the horrific incident around it. Jean Jacket is a beautiful creature. A beautiful animal. She causes uncontrollable death and destruction. The shoe stands up and Steven Yeun’s character stares at it because it’s there. Because it’s better than looking at his co-star being brutalized. Because it’s better than looking at a chimp he thought was his friend covered in another person’s blood. The shoe is a miracle in the middle of a horrific incident. Steven Yeun’s character waits for the “other shoe” to drop. It never does. Not until years and years and years later. Not until he believes himself special, and thinks of that shoe as some kind of blessing. He’s the chosen one. He wasn’t. He’s eaten, just like everyone else.

So I went to an early screening for the first two episodes of the Percy Jackson show yesterday (Saturday), and let me just say, it is 100% the adaptation we deserve. It was amazing. Once it ended, I wanted more.

The characterizations were amazing, any changes there were made sense and made the situation more realistic and added tension, the story was straight from the book, it was just amazing.

I went with my mom and she, who doesn't know the books, really enjoyed it. I asked her how she liked it (literary just the first two episodes) compared to Harry Potter (which i had her watch a few years back), and she said there was no contest. She likes the pjo show much more. She said it was engaging and even had her wanting the next episode once it was done.

Everyone needs to watch this show. It was amazing. It lives up to the hype. We need to make sure it gets greenlit for season 2.

ok so im currently rewatching nimona in the hindi dub (thank you @sir-ballister-boldheart-boldheart for the link! everyone should check out their great posts about it too btw)

and right of off the bat, im kinda obsessed with this line change:

in the OG, Nimonas quip/joke is "The one armed club is about to get some new members"

but in the Hindi dub its changed to "Agar inmisay kisi ka basu pasand ai toh bata'dayna" (sorry if my hinglish isnt the best i dont do this kinda thing often XO)

(which translates to: "if you find a liking to any of these arms tell me")

which is not only equally as hilarious but also soso cute cause the implication shes ready to chop of any arm he wants as a fucked up kinda karma/compensation or as a replacement is just, so good. violent and in character but also establishes a side of care for him early on which is really cool.

the sentiment "if youre dissatisfied with ~representation~ in media, make youre own content" (both in the negative and "postive" way) is so fucking annoying like! i dont want to be in a position where i HAVE to make everything myself! whats worse is that there Are people out there who have these ideas and stories fleshed out and if its a book they may be able to get published or self publish, but visual media? a movie? a show? a play? like fuck man i dont doubt that someone out there has already written the black scifi epic of my dreams but maybe theyve been rejected over a dozen times and gave up. maybe they couldnt afford to self publish. maybe they couldnt find or pay for an editor. maybe no producers would back them. maybe they dont have enough connections to even know where to begin. or maybe they dont have any fucking time or energy because of work and the everpresent racism of society. who knows! but the bottom line is goddamn! i dont want to do everything "myself" because 1.) i shouldnt be guilted into thinking that its somehow my fault or my community's fault for "not caring enough" to write about ourselves and 2.) there are no doubt hundreds upon hundreds of people who did make the content they wanted to see and it didnt ever go beyond their circle bc no one in Any indutry would consider supporting it. like fuck man.
