DRAMA REVIEW | The Love Equations (2020)
I started watching The Love Equations because I remembered all the good comments about it. The first few episodes were nice and I was excited for a cute drama. Now I understand they were probably because this drama it's probably how they discovered Gong Jun.
Luckily, I have seen him in Begin Again -a drama from the same year as this one- and other more recent projects, which is why I can say he delivers a good performance, perhaps the strongest in the entire drama, but the story is no good and the chemistry is simply not there.
The story overall is filled with scenes and plotlines poorly developed, particularly when we are dealing with subjects such as mental health. I understand this is a character driven drama but when I tell you there's nothing interesting about it, I mean it.

I dont think I gave an update on those? But last month I gave them their clothes. Its basically their original outfits because I like those and it fits the storytelling in my opinion- I'll probably change them later anyway

someone needs to explain something to me
how come no one was okay with the incest in History 4: Close to You, and yet, everyone is actively shipping the incest in Kiseki: Dear to Me?
Both sets of brothers:
were raised by the same parent(s).
were not blood related
had one brother see the other as a brother while the other was clearly in love for years
had sex while one was drugged/drunk
I mean, how come? Because if H5 was sooooo bad, how come KDTM is somehow... okay?

The history between Sam-dal and Yong-pil is DELICIOUSLY layered. Ji Chang Wook and Shin Hye Sun are playing them sooo well, and the fact that they are clearly so comfortable with each other adds to the dynamic.
I love that you can feel their story just based on how they look at each other. It’s so so good. Plus the small town aspect makes it so much more homey and endearing.
Ughhh I can’t wait until they get to the more romantic parts of the story because the pining (from Yong-pil for the most part) has me kicking and squealing!

"So, you're retrying type c...? "
"Why yes, I couldn't very well use the first run after someone had tampered with the acid..."
"....I seeeee.... so it will not shatter the horrendously expensive brand new distillator this time?"
"If my experiments were left the fuck alone this time, according to my predictions, no it will not. :)"
