Everything is so much all of the time
#two fucking exams that I am NOT prepared for#feeling like a shitty research student because I’ve barely been to the lab in weeks#so I can’t back out of this stupid meeting between my back to back tests#because why would it be any other day naturally#and I have to make slides before then#in addition to all of my homework and studying#and I hate to fucking say it but a small part of me is starting to panic about whether I’m on the right path#I love microbiology#I do#but it’s so stressful#and I’m realizing I will never be free of deadlines and ‘homework’ because of research papers#I wouldn’t hate a simple desk job#where when I go home I’m HOME and I can spend my time doing things I enjoy#instead of working more#and my grades are slipping because it’s all exam based#and I keep barely passing#I’m going to lose my honors college spot most likely#and that’s a whole other thing#I have to write a thesis and I don’t know where the fuck to start#but my mentor is wanting me to think about what I want to write#and I don’t have the first fucking clue#I think she and my professor are disappointed in me for missing that presentation#but I was sick so#and I’m still#just sick all the time#my joints hurt and I’m still coughing and wheezing and dizzy all the damn time#my mom isn’t helping with her pestering about Disney but I can’t fucking tell her that#I just need a break#away from school and away from my family#I love them but dear god Thanksgiving break did nothing to ease my anxiety at all

Please take this modest offering after *checks watch* a long time!!! hfbvhjfbghgb#I actually drew this way earlier this year but various things had it slide onto the backburner#fabdante's art really inspired me to want to do my own 'dmc character in an awesome fur coat'-#the decadence! the floof!#dmc character in alt outfit#(and before you have to wonder- I have absolutely considered kimono outfits for everyone nbgjrthbgh)#I had originally planned on drawing ReDante or Kat- but ended up drawing my girl Lady instead#I think a fur coat suits her really well ya know?#it was originally drawn in my sketchbook with the fur having been done with a brush pen :D#I tried to keep it on brand colorwise...and actually languished a good while on whether or not to make the fur white or not#I ended up going for the dark fur obviously but with contrasting white lapels meant to kinda invoke the dmc5 jacket a bit! :D#oh and while not my original intent- I can't help but think 'band au' when I look at this now nnfbfhg#anyway!#big thanks to fabdante for keeping up the cool art/meta pots/ and reboot kid art! we love to see it!!! ;DDD

#currently on the worst road trip of my whole entire life! well. i don't want to jinx it lmao but#today i popped TWO TIRES at once in the middle of the Katy Freeway in Houston TX (the widest highway in the US; 26 lanes btw)#managed to make it over to the shoulder without DYING but then had to sit there for like an hour? and panic called a tow truck because duh#I know how to change a tire but I was – again – sitting on the shoulder of the widest freeway on the continent so#anyway I called a tow; a guy showed up. I assumed it was the tow! turned out it was not. but he helped me put on the spare and then was lik#“follow me to my shop I can do the tires for you” and I was like okay! 👍 but then the ACTUAL tow called me and I realized this was#just a random guy (very nice up to that point but then I got scared about following him to a secondary location?) and so I didn't lmao#I just kept driving and didn't follow him but the guy on the phone was then mad at me because I wasn't where I said I would be because#AGAIN – I thought the original guy WAS the tow company that I called? but anyway guy 2 on the phone was like “YOU OWE ME $200!!!!”#and I said for what? also how would I pay you? and he tried to get me to cash app him lmao?? I didn't. I hung up on him#he called me like 6 more times yelling at me until I finally just blocked his number 💀#however NOW at this point I'm driving on one spare tire and one rapidly-flattening second tire and I still have 3 hours left to get where#I was going for the night and to top it all off I'm in the middle of a city I've only been to one time before? so I manage to get to a hote#like a nice-ish one where I'm like “okay if I get stuck here this won't be the end of the world”#because keep in mind today is a national holiday so basically everything is closed!!!! btw!!!!!#but eventually I'm sitting there and it's literally 100F outside and I remember oh right lol I have car insurance which pays for a tow#(a normal one; not a random one I panic-found on google who calls me screaming at me to cash app him $200)#so anyway I call my insurance and the guy on the phone is very nice and is like “it's okay; we'll have someone to you in 45 min”#and I'm like okay. OKAY. 🙌💪 I am a strong independent woman who is figuring this out and no longer on the side of the highway#but instead in a nice calm neighborhood and all I have to do is wait 45 min and everything will be okay#one hour goes by. I call back. get redirected to the tow company that was dispatched. guy says oh! is my guy not there yet?#I say no. he says okay – I'll have him call you. hangs up.#okay. 20 more min go by. guy finally calls me. says “I'm 20-25 min away” at this point I've been waiting about an hour and a half#I say. okay? okay. 30 more minutes go by. I try to call the guy back. straight to voicemail. three more calls. three more no answers.#I call my insurance back. sit on hold for 15 min. eventually get put through to a different person who's like “okay let me check on him”#get put on hold. eventually she comes back and says “okay he says 15 minutes” I've been waiting over 2 hours at this point. I have to PEE#I just... burst into tears. on the phone with this poor random woman from Geico Insurance. I'm bawling my eyes out.#she was trying to get claim info from me but I'm crying so hard she's like “oh baby no. okay. okay. we can get that from you tomorrow.”#when you cry so hard that even the insurance company is like “you know what we're just going to let this one slide”#anyway guy eventually shows up. he's very nice even though I hate him a little for being so late. he drives me to an OPEN TIRE SHOP

so it turns out it was actually never that serious
#the exam literally went fine what the fuck just happened i feel like i just hallucinated that#like im not one of those people that go 'omg i did soooo badly :(' just to come out with top grades if i say it's going to shit#then it's becuase i genuinely wholeheartedly believe it#and my headspace before this exam was the worst it's been in MONTHS like i havent felt that bad for an exam since first year#and i sat down opened the paper and. remembered everything. like i literally just Knew the answers#im not saying ive passed bc am i fuck about to jinx it and i was still riding mainly blind bc i have NO idea where that knowledge came from#but at the very least there was a 35 marker that i KNOW i aced like i could picture the exact lecture slides it wanted me to discuss#and i had all of them memorised so at the very least ive got like. 30 marks. which is enough for me to pass the module#bc this exam is only weighted 75% and with my marks from the other 25% i only needed like 20 marks to pass this exam#which... makes it even more embarrassing that i failed it the first time but whatever!!!!#oh my god im so glad that's done im so happy IM FREE#just been in the kitchen dancing around to my little tunes and texting my friends <3#im meeting up with one of them when she gets off work at 5 and we're going for drinks#so ive got until then to nap and chill and then ill go to the shop and get us some food and wine#and she's gonna come here for a bit & then we'll go. like actually look at me. im having people over at MY HOUSE im going out to buy us WIN#im literally a functioning adult living independently who IS she a misty memory#alas i do only have £23 in my account so this is gonna be such a slay seeing how i make that stretch for a night out#i acc could budget for england when it comes to alcohol i think like the way i manage to have a good funky time with MINIMAL funds#is downright impressive. it's a skill idc what you say#hella goes to uni

#misc#TLDR:#a recruiter calls me coupla weeks ago; says she wants me on their production - and in that same exact call ends up saying#“oh actually i'm not sure you fit. this might not happen” cuz she actually read my resume this time.... while on call with me?#how about you take a proper gander at my resume before calling me to offer me a job and then change your mind....#ended the call saying “contact me again on January 8th if you're still interested and i'll see if i can squeeze you in as a junior”#(which. okay. first off why would you have to “squeeze me in” when you actively called me for the job.#Also i'm not a junior. but sure we'll see what the pay is like)#so i contacted her on the 8th and she was like haha actually i doubt we'll have any spots left for you! smiling emoji#and just earlier rn she sent me a new DM asking if i have an updated portfolio since the one they have is from 3yrs ago#so she revived a little bit of hope i know i shouldnt have cuz i HIGHLY doubt they'll hire me for this prod given how things have been goin#its late now i doubt ill get any news one way or another before sometime next week (hopefully)#ugh...... i really want this job man.#i've had too many feature film opportunities slide from my grasp. please let me have this#having this one experience will make it easier to get hired for more. i'm fucking begging on my knees

as much as i hated my fucking master's degree, in the grand scheme of things i see how it fits into my life. it wasn't a path forward to a career or whatever. it was a way out of home. the path of least resistance for my parents and i.
#i do not care if i end up living in a run down single room with a small window. do not care if i have to move again.#do not care if my career does not take off within the next 10 fucking years.#okay maybe i care a little about that heh#i am not returning to my parents' house. i cannot.#i value my autonomy more than my comfort#i know my parents would welcome me back with open arms#but all i will be able to see is the lock they slide behind me when i enter the door#i am of course grateful that they've provided for me and i know how privileged i am. not gonna pretend i didn't grow up upper class#it's a gilmore girls loan that i want to repay as fast as i can before i make a break from them#user khlur
