Hey remember how I was traveling for work? Eating salad with my hands and all that from a couple days ago? Well, I departed the work meetings at about 2:30 yesterday afternoon and I'M STILL NOT HOME ahahahaha. I made it as far as New York but I've been stranded here since last night. I've had two cancelled flights and I have to wait six more hours to see if it's three strikes and you're out. Wish me luck!!!

I too have wondered about that break in the sequence. I always liked the idea that we never heard about the missing set of five rings because they were given to the greatest of the Orcs, but honestly this take is way funnier so yeah fine let's go with this.
...
...that said, the Dark Lord did style himself Annatar, the Lord of Gifts, during the era when he was busy forging all those rings; so if anyone was originally responsible for the absolutely ridiculous quantity of presents immortalised in the song in question, it actually could very well have been him. 🤔
Nine rings were made for men. Seven for the dwarves, three for the elves, and one for the big guy himself. One, three, seven, nine. There is but a set of five missing to complete the sequence of odd numbers. I propose that this missing set of rings of power was gifted to a mysterious someone by their true love, along with a partridge in a pear tree (among other things). In this essay I will-

After the fall of the Elder Brain, Baldur's Gate rebuilds. In the months after, the heroes and their allies alike start to build their new lives, finding their places in this new version of the Gate. The funny thing about Faerun, though, is that things are never quiet for too long. Even though the hero's party may be scattered, and some indeed done with adventuring, there is always a need for brave adventurers to face the danger head on. Who will step up to answer the call? How will the new Archduke and Duchess handle running the city? And how do the newest citizens adjust to life in their new home?
Time and Again is an ensemble fanfiction with a shifting narrative, starting two months after the defeat of the Elder Brain, working its way to the epilogue, and beyond. What lies in wait in this strange cycle of destruction and heroism?

Day Ten of Yule.
Astrology and other stuff
Day 10 of Yule: Honouring the Hearth and Ancestors
Here we are, ten days into Yule, and the focus turns to the hearth—the heart of the home. It’s not just about the physical warmth of a fire; it’s about the emotional and spiritual warmth that comes from a space filled with care, intention, and connection. For centuries, the hearth has been a sacred place. It’s where meals were cooked, stories were told, and offerings were made to household spirits and ancestors. It was, and still is, a symbol of safety and belonging.
Today’s all about grounding yourself and finding that sense of connection within your home. The act of tending to your space—whether that’s lighting a candle, giving the house a good tidy, or even cooking a meal—can become something sacred. With intention, these small acts create a ripple of warmth and gratitude that honours both your home and the generations that came before you.
This is also a day to reflect on those who’ve gone before you—your ancestors, known and unknown. Whether you’ve got stories passed down or you’re still uncovering your family history, today is a chance to pause and honour their lives, their struggles, and their legacies. Everything they did brought you to where you are now, and that’s something worth recognising.
Astrology for December 30, 2024
The stars are weaving a perfect backdrop for today’s themes. The cosmic energies offer a mix of stability, reflection, and a touch of emotional depth, creating the ideal conditions for connecting with the hearth and the ancestors.
Sun in Capricorn (8°)
Capricorn’s energy is about legacy and responsibility, which fits beautifully with the idea of reflecting on the past and planning for the future. The Sun in this sign shines a light on your roots and encourages you to think about the foundation you stand on. What have your ancestors passed down to you—values, strengths, even challenges? And what do you want to carry forward into the future?
Capricorn invites you to take a practical approach to these reflections. You could light a candle in memory of your ancestors, write down family stories, or even think about how you might want to leave your own legacy one day.
Moon in Taurus (15°)
With the Moon in Taurus, there’s a lovely grounding energy in the air. Taurus is all about comfort, stability, and the beauty of everyday life. Today, this placement encourages you to make your home feel like a sanctuary.
This could mean anything from a bit of decluttering to setting up a cosy corner where you can relax and reflect. If you’ve got any family heirlooms or objects with sentimental value, this is a good day to bring them out, dust them off, and let them remind you of the connections that span generations.
The Taurus Moon also helps with emotional steadiness. If reflecting on your ancestry stirs up any strong feelings, this energy offers you the patience and resilience to sit with them.
Mercury Retrograde in Capricorn (23°)
Mercury retrograde can feel like a nuisance sometimes, but in Capricorn, it takes on a quieter, more reflective tone. This placement is less about miscommunication and more about pausing to look back.
It’s an excellent time to revisit family stories, old photos, or even traditions you haven’t thought about in a while. If there’s a pattern in your family history that you’ve been trying to understand or heal, today’s retrograde energy supports you in taking a fresh look at it. Be patient with yourself as you process whatever comes up.
Mars in Sagittarius (21°)
Mars in Sagittarius brings a sense of curiosity and movement to the day. While the rest of the astrology encourages grounding and reflection, Mars adds a spark of adventure. This energy is perfect for exploring your roots—whether that’s diving into genealogy, learning about cultural traditions, or even planning a future trip to a place connected to your family’s history.
Mars reminds us that honouring our ancestors isn’t just about looking back—it’s also about moving forward, inspired by their strength and resilience.
Venus in Scorpio (27°)
Venus in Scorpio adds emotional depth to the day, encouraging us to connect with the more hidden or shadowy parts of our family stories. Not everything in our lineage is easy or pleasant to face, but this placement offers the courage and compassion to do so.
If you’re reflecting on difficult family patterns or unresolved emotions, Venus in Scorpio supports you in transforming those experiences into wisdom and healing. It’s a good day for quiet rituals, meditations, or journaling to process what comes up.
Bringing It All Together
Day 10 of Yule is a perfect blend of reflection, connection, and action. The Sun in Capricorn and the Moon in Taurus provide stability and grounding, making it an ideal day to honour the hearth and your ancestors. Mercury retrograde encourages you to revisit family stories and traditions, while Venus in Scorpio deepens your emotional connection to them. Mars in Sagittarius adds just enough energy to remind you that exploring your roots can be a journey of discovery as much as a reflection on the past.
How to Honour Day 10
1. Tend to the Hearth: Whether you’ve got an actual fire or just the symbolic heart of your home, take time today to care for it. Light a candle, tidy up, or prepare a meal with intention.
2. Connect with Ancestors: Light a candle for those who came before you, or take time to reflect on their stories. If you’re comfortable, speak aloud to your ancestors, thanking them for their sacrifices and asking for their guidance.
3. Ground Yourself: Spend time in nature, even if it’s just stepping outside for fresh air. Let the steadiness of the earth remind you of your own strength and resilience.
As you move through the day, let the energy of the hearth guide you—steady, warm, and deeply rooted in the connections that make us who we are.
