MEIKO got on rui for being picky during island panic and had a menu line about how good veggies are. MEIKO would be the one to battle with rui over eating vegetables.

… Okay, so most of my response to the current Gozyuger events can be chalked up to my own paranoia and ptsd from always liking the character that doesn't get focus (always).

But I actually, genuinely dislike how that resolution was handled. Not the fight, mind you, I mean the bit at the end where instead of trusting the other three and Blue properly apologising, they… Lie to them.

Even though they all took Hoeru back after he did something incredibly similar back when they knew each other even less.

For me, that's not heartwarming, and it's not bonding. It says that they didn't respect or trust the other three to be understanding or willing to listen. That doesn't actually mend anything.

Given how it's portrayed I doubt this will ever come up again, but it should. The best outcome would be that the other three acknowledge at some point that they knew this explanation was bullshit, but bc they were actually fine accepting him back anyway they just went along with it. The worst one would be they find out the others lied to them and are justifiably upset about the show of distrust and become doubtful that those three actually consider them friends/teammates.

In reality, that'd piss me off so badly if someone did that to me.

And maybe there was a scene I've missed where the other three have some exchange about 'they're obviously making that up right?' 'it's fine, let them save face' that I haven't seen, but the way it seems like it's being portrayed I'm doubtful.

And I'm not saying go into the whole thing about the sister. Like that's obviously Plot for the down the road. I just dislike how instead of just respecting them and valuing their feelings enough to honestly apologise and even just explain as 'I'm sorry, I did something stupid bc of some stuff from my past, it won't happen again' they lie. It's a goddamn lie. It's not even to 'spare their feelings' it's just a lie bc they apparently don't trust the others to have the compassion to hear him out.

Either this needs to come back to bite them, it tries to come back to bite them and the other three are like 'no lol we knew it was a cover story and just went along with it bc we were fine w/ it anyway,' or I am going to lose all respect I had for those three (which was indifferent to two of them, but Hoeru I expected better from you!)

I had this “cool” idea (which is probably gonna be very difficult as someone who can’t draw) to draw Wake and Leaves in various different (Nintendo-related) universes (I’m thinking F-Zero (become more humanoid and wear clothes and just generally look super cool), Animal Crossing (match up with one of the species but not any species exclusive to special villagers. Also wear clothes), Metroid (tf am I supposed to do there, give them cool suits?), Star Fox (more humanoid, they wear clothes now), the Wii Sports series but specifically Nintendo Switch Sports because I think the Sportsmates are cute (yep, they’re Sportsmates here. And they wear clothes), possibly Splatoon (basically decide what they’d look like as humans, make their hair more tentacly and change their eyeshadow to black. Oh yeah and they wear clothes)) but then I realised I have no idea what species Wake would be in Animal Crossing. To make things even harder for me, I then decided I want to do it for all of the Proto Beasts (not just Wake) and all of the Neo Swords (not just Leaves). The Neo Swords are easy (auto predict suggested the word “pretty” after “are”. That too) to assign Animal Crossing species to because they all match their modern-day counterparts closely enough that they count as whatever species they are and their modern-day counterparts all have a direct Animal Crossing species counterpart - Leaves and Virizion are antelopes/deer so they’re deer like Zell, Boulder and Terrakion are bulls so they’re bulls like Vic and Crown and Cobalion are both goats so they’re goats like *doesn’t actually have a goat villager on their island so just goes with the first one that comes to mind* Iggy. I feel like Fire could easily be a lion villager just because it keeps the same build as Entei it just holds its body closer to the ground (hey, that means that Fire has the same “its assigned species is male-only” problem that its Violet counterpart Boulder has. I mean all of them are gonna have the “forcing the gender binary on a genderless Pokémon” problem that’s probably “resolved” by making Wake and Leaves female personalities and the other four male personalities (personalities I’d assign them based on my headcanons for them: Wake (happy overexcited maybe a bit comically stupid, took the role of leader of the Proto Beasts because Bolt doesn’t have the patience and Fire didn’t want it) peppy/jock, Leaves (happy overexcited fun, took the role of leader of the Neo Swords because it could and it’s closer with Boulder than Crown is and Crown is powerless to object to Leaves’s leadership status) big sister/peppy/normal/smug, Fire (pyromaniac metalhead believes it and Boulder are the coolest beings in existence) jock/big sister, Boulder (pyromaniac metalhead believes it and Fire are the coolest beings in existence) jock/big sister, Bolt (poorly-adjusted to modern life, will electrocute you if you wake it up while it’s sleeping and it sleeps a lot) cranky, Crown (also acts like a grandfather, believes it’s the only sane individual but will open a cutlery draw just to stare at spoons) smug/cranky/literally any female personality except peppy)) but Wake and Bolt are still difficult to assign species to

As a bonus instead of “let’s rock and roll!” being Boulder’s catchphrase (because it’s a bit long to be an Animal Crossing catchphrase) it’s its favourite quote. You know what, if I had an Iron a Boulder villager I would make that our greeting

Bonus trivia about the lion and bull species

Somehow I didn’t notice the first trivia point (about none of them introduced in the original game returning in Wild World) on the lion page until I returned to screenshot it. I did notice it on the bull page

Looks like I’ve accidentally assigned Fire and Boulder star signs too (Fire is Leo, Boulder is Taurus)

As an additional fun fact that you can’t see in the trivia sections of those species’ pages, both species have exactly 9 members
