We tend to explain the difference between American and British/FCI shelties by stating that the standards are different, and I do this too, but in truth the standards are very close and we just have very different ideas of a) whether the interpretation of the sheltie standard should follow the interpretation of the collie standard and b) what is "wedge" and "almond"
#uk/fci standard makes 0 collie mentions#ack standard intro is... about collies#and also... not particularly accurate#like obvs im biased but sometimes i'll read a writeup on the sheltie head by an AKC person and be like hmm yeah sure why not#and then the photo added as a correct illustration is just.... insane to me#“an excellent head that tapers slightly to a blunt wedge. parallell planes and a slight but definite stop”#and then they add a photo of a tube#like even if we agree that the sheltie should resemble a collie of SOME era#you'd be hard fuckin pressed to find any historical resemblance to the clunkier akc heads in literally either breed#until the modern iteration#and even then you can *pretty much* pinpoint the generation breeders decided it should be That#and im not saying fci is the Original either because the island type died out and the mainland type is the remaining one#but theres#a lot going on there

(this isn't a question about the best p&p adaptation ever, it is simply which you prefer OUT OF THESE TWO OPTIONS since they are the two most commonly talked about and compared!!)
#i didn't really talk about it when i watched it because i know the 1995 version is precious and beloved to many people (which i respect)#but i personally think it just doesn't hold a candle to the 2005 version#i know it's more directly book accurate but for me that's not a priority in an adaptation#if i want to spend several hours on a book accurate experience i'll just listen to the audiobook#so for me if it's a screen adaptation then visuals are key and 2005 is so beautiful whereas 1995 isn't particularly special in that regard#i also prefer the casting personally in terms of chemistry and on screen presence but i acknowledge that's partly just because we're usuall#attached to whichever cast we're first familiar with#anyway none of this is to actually dunk on the miniseries of course and it goes without saying that all p&p is good p&p!#just curious what the split is (and wanted to separate the options for only seeing one since i imagine more people have seen 2005)#polls

Mine is because I had just finished being utterly eviscerated by one half of my OTP getting hit by a car (on the cusp of them getting to live happily together against all the odds on a show I genuinely trusted to be BETTER than that. Reader, they were not better than that), and I felt the burning need to create a fandom blog RIGHT THAT SECOND so I could share the pain with other fans without totally flooding my main blog with it (in retrospect, I should have just flooded it. But ah well).
Only I still had actual tears running down my face so was not in much of a state to choose, and am in general just SO BAD AT NAMING THINGS. And I was feeling a little silly for caring so much about what happened to these fictional characters in the first place, so I went with exactly what I was feeling in that moment, which was WAY too invested in a tv show. The plan was always to change it to something better as a soon as I calmed down and worked out what that might be.
Only remember the part about how I am SO BAD at naming things?
Yeah. Well, that never went away. And then people started getting to know me as waytooinvested and therefore changing it would cause confusion, and, well, now it's 10 years later and here we are.
I still want to change it. I still don't know what to change it to. I still have the issue of once more being known by this name and not wanting to accidentally lose people via a change.

Particularly like her armor design here? but she needed something on her and if it works. it works#and i go back and forth on designs constantly. maybe i'll warm up to it. i like it more now than when i drew it anyway#also her eyes fuck me up. i think i might also change them somewhere down the line again but probably not a Ton?...#she's meant to have Sort Of the same sort of corneal opacity that people get when they die but i don't think it looks quite right#not helped by the red/black elf eye sclera. kind of kicking my ass but she's cute and i like her So#but i think i made it too light in comparison with the color i chose For the sclera

Unnecessarily complex bordering on incomprehensible design for Mooring I cooked up for funsies. I've always wanted (and imagined) his look to be waaay more intricate than I usually draw it but I just don't because. Well. I dont want to draw all that. And also I fear the shadow curse effect takes up alot of space and adding more (like the tattoos) turns it into a mess. Anyways. I'm keeping the long tusks and the coin slot and rest assured even though I am never drawing them again he has tattoos. Just imagine them the next time he’s shirtless. Also keeping that nipple piercing I think it's cool
Ultimately I'm not concerned with making a Technically Good design because I'm just having fun and playing with my dolls but I want to make one that I both like and can recreate easily

I’m so confused. What do you mean Snape’s not interesting?????? Man went from learning and joining in bigotry despite his best friend being a target because he was so abused and subjected to bigotry himself that he was desperate to gain power, lost said friend as a result but still cared about her enough that when her life was put in danger (in part because of his own actions) he risked his life and everything he had gained to protect her, and spent the rest of his life unlearning the bigotry he had once joined in for his own gain while spending the last years of his life once again risking—and then sacrificing—everything to protect the world, all while being a largely unrepentant asshole to those around him due to both trauma and as a cover for his spy work.
But I guess if you ignore all of that and only focus on “he was an asshole who spent his entire life thinking about a girl who didn’t want him” then yeah, that does sound kind of boring and unpleasant. But like. Why would you ignore all of that?

just watched the borderlands movie and the only good part was that krieg’s little harness thingo lowkey looked like a very skimpy little bra thing sometimes
he needs some back support with those jugs ofc
#it wasn’t AS bad as I thought it would be#but it was not good#at all#idk why they changed so much of the story and just like Made It Worse#why did they make Tina’s dad head of atlas? why not just keep her parents killed off? why did they mischaracterise her so badly?#why was she annoying? why was she an experiment? why not use a more compelling villain than Guy Who Looks And Acts As Bland As Possible#the villain was simply. no good#I wish they used jack 😔#I also wish they didn’t do the Lilith’s mum subplot bc it was a little off??? somehow?#and Tannis and Lilith’s relationship wasn’t particularly fulfilling#claptrap was even more annoying#the jokes weren’t funny#the sfx were NOT as bad as everyone said they were I’m sorry I thought they were fine aside from a few weird shots in some chase sequences#another thing I don’t get that much was ppl hating Lilith’s hair bc it’s doesn’t look like in the games#ppl compared the wig to wigs that cosplayers use that look rly accurate and good but#u have to take into account#that it’s rly hard to stylise a live action movie to look something like boarderlands and most cosplays are made to look good statically#things that look good in cosplay and in the game will not look good in a live action action sequences#like if u gave her a cosplay wig it would look great and accurate but it also would be completely rigged in the wind and would not move#like real hair#which would probably be incredibly jarring to see in a live action film especially with all the action#was the hair great? no. I still think it could’ve been vastly improved on while remaining realistic for a live action movie#but I think some people hold it to unrealistic standards in their criticisms or whatever#also costumes have to be actually movable and breathable bc REAL people are shooting REAL scenes and doing stunts and shit in them#but. yeah. the costumes could definitely have had some improvement#I think that if u wanted to make a borderlands film that was accurate to the design of the characters it would be easier to do it animated#and the writing?#we do not speak about the writing good lord#borderlands movie#borderlands

Like they'd be disappointed somehow. But then I remember that they'd never do that and they love me sm <3
