need an age regression/de-aging fic where a post-KH4 riku has to take care of a younger sora, and bb sora is just completely awestruck over how strong and kind and pretty (and tall!!) his best friend riku got… and is so transparently smitten that riku, who is actually dating present-day sora, is just like: wow we really were oblivious how did either of us miss sora’s glaring crush on me??

Keyblade Camp

I have this AU I've been too busy to write where all of the Guardians of Light are found/saved/recovered BEFORE the final battle and Yen Sid declares that they are all to train together in preparation for the battle.

Yen Sid puts Aqua and Riku in charge of training everyone.

It's 2 boys per dorm room, and the girls get a master suite dorm for themselves

From there, it is essentially a sleepaway camp AU except it ends in a keyblade war..... but hey! There's a prom!

thinking about how way to dawn really was like the most iconic keyblade ever that so neatly summarized riku's journey and ideals and had so much meaning and history and so uniquely his and kh3 really threw it away for a fucking car key

So for no reason at all I'm thinking about this:

Sora was not chosen by a Keyblade Master to be a Keyblade wielder, but he becomes a Keyblade wielder before anyone else in the Destiny Trio (yes, I know, Riku's Keyblade--the Kingdom Key--had shown up on the Destiny Islands for Riku, but when Riku chose darkness over light, it opted to go with Sora instead: and there it would ultimately stay and Riku would get a different Keyblade later).

Riku was chosen by a Master to be a Keyblade wielder, and he's the third of the Destiny Trio to get his Keyblade, though still treated so much better than Kairi is, and truly gets to use his Keyblade before her (in having big adventures where he gets to use it, and whatnot): as I'm sure no one is really counting the three Heartless that Kairi killed with hers in KHII.

Kairi was accidentally chosen to be a wielder by a Keyblade Master (Aqua triggered the Keyblade Inheritance Ceremony with her by accident, that is), and this actually happens before the scene where Terra chooses Riku. But it's an accidental thing, which definitely stings a bit. And Kairi is the second of the Destiny Trio to get her Keyblade... though in a lot of ways, you wouldn't guess that.

Edit: I'm wrong. Riku gets his Keyblade second, and Kairi gets hers third, as Riku has his Keyblade when he protects Kairi and Naminé from Saïx. I, and another user on her at what point, just got confused because of Riku (if you talk to him as Sora when you beat Luxord) mentioning how he doesn't think Sora needs the power of darkness or his Soul Eater yet, which almost sounds like he still has Soul Eater at the time, when he doesn't. What a weird line just overall. -shrugs-

#and yes: before someone says it i know terra. technically. was not a master when he did the keyblade inheritance ceremony with riku #as he had not passed his mark of mastery exam (that was rigged anyway) and thus hadn't been given the title #but he was at master level--according to nomura--which is how he was still able to do this #i mean the aqua and kairi scene hurts less with how aqua realized that kairi was someone worth protecting (she was realizing she was a #princess of heart). and she also cast that magical spell on her necklace because of it: so that whenever she was in trouble the light withi #her would lead her to someone else in order to keep her safe. so maybe all of that is part of the reason the keyblade inheritance ceremony #kicked in and NOT just because aqua and kairi were both touching aqua's keyblade at the same time. (this is the only way i can live with #this. and i honestly think it makes MORE sense this way). though you do still have to wonder 'why?' why is kairi always shafted in every #single way possible?#maybe they were going for some 'all three of the destiny trio has a different tie with the keyblade and how they were chosen' thing. but as #always kairi's the one who gets the short end of the stick. really #the only thing i even remotely like about it is that it means that both sora and kairi can bond over actually BOTH of them weren't chosen b #a master then

so I've been watching the KH Union Cross stuff (in order, thank goodness, this would be so confusing to piece together otherwise), and like, I knew enough about UX that the appearance of the foretellers at the end of KH3 wasn't confusing bc I knew who they all were, but getting the expanded, explained lore and I'm like okay, actually these weirdos in animal masks are pretty cool, glad to know they'll show up (presumably) in future games

also I'm glad that memorizing the Latin names for the seven deadly sins is finally paying off

#I'm still going to have to comb the wiki or something later to figure out some lingering questions #which I probably still have bc I got a condensed version of all the games for just the story content #so any weird bits of minor worldbuilding that occur due to like gameplay stuff I'd totally miss out on #or I just simply Don't Remember what something was when it was explained bc I was distracted by the outfit designs or something #(I am so distracted by character designs all the time and KH outfits are off-the-wall distracting)#but like overall actually the UX stuff is very interesting!#love to see that lack of communication and poor decision making is not just limited to the old men of the series #(except Merlin he's fine actually he's the only old man who does not seem to make poor life choices)#like wow so many issues might have been avoided if decisions were made differently #which I mean the story works great bc the tragedy is knowing that things could have been better but would never be #bc the characters wouldn't have made the decisions differently bc of their characterization #and UX being Oops All Prequels means it was fated to be tragic in some way or another bc like #you do not get the setting of KH w/out the tragedy of the first Keyblad War (and possibly other things?)#so like I'm fine with the characters making poor decisions bc it makes a good story but also Hot Damn #KH is just generations of mistakes and poor life decisions #and the kids are actually really doing their best at every turn even if they're against the absolute worst odds #and still the theme of the power of friendships persists...absolutely excellent #oracle of lore

#mun in the moon [ ooc ]#i have no idea how he got to me so badly on this playthrough of KH #i think he only knows like. fire magic and maybe one or two other spells #i think he doesnt know healing magic at all #i know that boy doesnt know how to read and write he was raised in the KEYBLADE GRAVEYARD by XEHANORT #i think he doesnt do training matches he acts like hes fighting to the death in every fight ever #hence why he just fuckin #flops on the ground after so many fights in bbs #he just puts his entire strength and all his energy into every fight so viciously he doesnt keep stamina #so after it hes just absolutely winded #holding my head in my hands. boy whos anger comes from a deep sense of lonliness and envy because hes been alone all his life #and wants what ventus has so bad cause hes gotten so many looks into it #but he thinks the only way he can Stop feeling like that is straight up just dying. and becoming whole with him again #cause he hasnt been given the space to breathe and deprogram himself from thinking hes a monster not made to exist #which. it doesnt help in the bbs times darkness was way more villianized people didnt think you needed both!!!#so everyone would've just been like ew youre mad of darkness youre evil right away anyways even without the xehanort influence #i know he hates looking at his reflection and so many parts of himself cause hes like ew im just a mismash of ventus and sora #my boys lack of a sense of identity out of being a weapon or feeling like something not meant to exist #just meant to die to fulfill a bigger purpose and become someone else again #everyone else is trying to get out of the heart hotel hes trying to get IN #anyways. im normal now.#i have so many other thoughts but i cant word them just yet. boy who i adopted 3 days ago rotting my head

I know it hasn't been confirmed that the gazing eye can only be on a keyblade, but it sure does feel weird that out of all the weapons it's on, only one of them isn't a keyblade(Riku's first sword). Like, that just doesn't feel right somehow.

#im also curious about how SoD can wield a doubles edged spear made up of that sword #like. was riku only able to wield it cuz of him? but riku had it before getting possessed #uuuggghhh now i wished i paid attention to that since i JUST rewatched kh1 again #no cuz he had it in traverse town!!!! loooong before getting possessed!#but sussiness had to be afoot for him to get a sword WITH THE GAZING EYE in it right???#that couldnt just happen randomly! unless theres some kind of connection in the MoM->nort->maleficent->riku chain #but that feels too indirect to be a reason #also we dont even know how he got that sword other than maybe summoning it with dark powers he got from maleficent #but again then. it couldnt be random!#and i would think he materialize a completely unique sword like a psuedo-keyblade basically #or like how the nobodies have unique weapons they summon. yeah yeah probably exactly like that!!!#so how could a gazing eye materialize 'completely randomly' like that in just some sword???#AND NOW IM WONDERING WHY IT APPEARS ON ANY OF THEM BESIDES NO NAME TO BEGIN WITH!!!!#maybe its more like a MoM->nort->riku chain without maleficent #omg no wait!!! cuz riku caused the islands to collapse because he opened the door BECAUSE OF SoD!!!#so theres the nort->riku connection prior to the possession #maybe cuz nort basically lost no name after the nobodification of the apprentices? i mean. xemnas is said to be able #to use a keyblade anyway and just chooses not to. so like. is it no name or something else? cuz roxas uses soras #and clearly no one else is using no name prior to 3D #what am i saying again? oh yeah! so like. maybe the gazing eye moved from The Abyss to riku after riku came into conact with SoD on the #islands. and it remained with him until 3 with his new keyblade #cuz isnt it that the sword basically 'evolved' into a keyblade? so thats likely why the eye is still there #plus it kinda still exists in the broken way to dawn on the shore so the eye cant move into anything else i bet #and in the case with vanitas having it i bet thats more confirmation that contact with xehanort in some form kinda '#fuck got cut off. where was i??? it kinda 'spreads' the eye basically.#but i feel like it should be more like contact with no name specifically is what 'spreads' it. cuz SoD doesnt have keyblade access right?#so by that logic riku still shouldnt have it. but then again maybe it doesnt need to be no name contact specifically.#it would just make more sense that way but eh. whatever nomura wants i guess #oh wait just remembered! I want Brain to come back, (realm of darkness/Luxu’d again or whatever) pick up Masters Defender that has been out in the elements for a year and storm into the Land of Departure castle. “Who left my keyblade outside?!”

With Terra and Aqua immediately on the defense. Because strange man. Strange man with Their Dads keyblade. Ventus is having the worst migraine of his ducking Life looking at this man as well as familiar fear of that face with that keyblade looking at them in anger.

“What are you doing with Master Eraqus’s keyblade???”

And Brain just “Eraqus ain’t old enough to hold a keyblade what are you talking about.” And then he realizes how long he’s been gone and everyone he loves is dead/gone again and it just clatters to the floor

i had a thought btw i would love having a streli/vani/sora trio in kh4 HOWEVER i thought it would be more interesting to have sora have zero companions. hes spent the entire series leaning on his friends for strength which isnt a bad thing! however as we see as soon as he loses his friends he kind of breaks down and doesnt believe he personally has the strength to fight. so i would like to see him completely alone with zero friends learning to fight by himself :)
