i think the thing that really gets me about pre-canon durge is their absolute sense of duty, and their utter isolation outside of the cult of bhaal.

most of the cultists seem eager to see durge upon their return, and one even says they were the first to feed him flesh. gortash tells them of an exhibition of a bhaalspawn's corpse and another bhaalspawn's creations and durge immediately plans to attack the hall of wonder to recover them. they then apparently entrust said bhaalspawn's corpse to sceleritas fel to "restore" through taxidermy. they deride orin for her artistry with corpses explicitly because "bhaal will never care" and because orin "[does] not understand lord bhaal".

even their infamous prayer for forgiveness is framed around their absolute submission to bhaal's plans, and the crime that requires forgiveness? admiring his rival's chosen. that's one line, and the next three paragraphs are swearing to carry out his plan exactly as they've been told to, all for his forgiveness.

hell, even their room reinforces this. orin has barely touched the place aside from installing her mother's corpse and her manifesto - and that is some of the only decoration. what was it before orin, an empty room with skulls, a bed, a desk, some chests and a wardrobe?

the durge didn't have any semblance of a life outside of bhaal, aside from gortash. and is it any surprise? the only other hint they ever had a life outside of the cult is the flashback of kid durge murdering their adopted family, all thanks to their father's urging.

bhaal even tries to force them back into isolation after they've been tadpoled by forcing them to kill alfira, and then trying to force a durge who resists him to kill their lover. if they continue resisting, bhaal kills them. bhaal will not allow them to have a life outside of him and, if it weren't for jergal, he would've succeeded.

i have this soft early seasons hc that the moment smartphones became A Thing and you could finally take instant HD pictures of anything, sam started taking pictures of everything. a cute dog he saw on the street? snap. an interesting brick layout? snap. a squirrel eating a piece of bread in some park? snap. an ancient, pretty much decaying book in a library? snap.

snap. snap. snap.

and then when he'd get home (by that i mean, dean, at whatever motel room they were crashing in at the time), maybe to find dean making something to eat or cleaning his guns, & he'd go up to him all excited and show him every picture he took, give him small explanations, talk about how amazing it is that the pictures look so smooth and colorful and "just like the real thing, dean!" — and dean would look at all of them, and listen to sammy's explanations (even if he sometimes went on tangents dean couldn't understand), and he'd make comments, definitely tease sam a lil about his nerdyness. it didn't matter how long it took, because seeing his baby brother so happy about something so small just- made his heart hurt, filled him with affection. made dean realize how much he missed it, missed sam going on rants about science, about books, about whatever nerdy sci-fi thing he was into at the time. missed that glint in sam's eyes, the happiness that made him look so alive (missed when life was simpler).

sam smiles as he shows dean a picture of a blossoming flower and all dean can think about is how much he loves this kid.

hopefully it's been at least kind of shown in the flowering that the reason Flowey doesn't see himself as Asriel isn't just because he doesn't like Asriel. that is part of it, but a big part of it is how his identity has completely changed, like, he's a different person now and being Asriel doesn't suit him.

but I've been thinking about a scenario where he mentions how much he dislikes Asriel- calling him stupid or weak or something- and someone responds to that as if it were self-hatred. like "don't talk about yourself that way". even though the whole point is that they're separate (idk who. someone who doesn't fully Get It though I guess. at least not at the time that they say that)

and it's like- yeah, he's too hard on Asriel. and it does probably bleed into how he sees himself a lot. but talking about them like they're the same person doesn't feel right to Flowey and it just makes things worse.

One of my favorite things about DimiClaude is how Claude would be going into their relationship not knowing affection and love, but Dimi is so outspoken about his compliments and often can't even help himself when he's being extra kind. For someone who didn't ever get to hear all these kind things before it'd be so crazy to Claude to suddenly have someone always having good things to say about him and being so honest about his thoughts.

I think it's really sweet for Claude to be able to have someone dote on him and openly and easily express love for him, but also, Dimi really can be extremely blunt with his honesty and his feelings so I think Claude would quickly realize he's not even lying or just trying to make Claude feel better, but that he actually expresses what he's really thinking.

Since Claude is good at playing things off so I think for a little while he'd be able to avoid acting so flabbergasted by Dimi's sincerity, but eventually he'd be like holy shit he still hasn't stopped fawning over me. It'd be so weird for him for a while but he'd also really love it and be incredibly happy that someone is so genuine toward him and always has nice things to say.

I also think it'd be really cute for Dimi to learn from Claude about how to relax more and joke more. Dimi literally tells Alois in their supports that people tell him he lacks humor, and it'd be so cute to see him start to naturally ease into humor because of the time he's spent with Claude.

LISTEN. It's just so cute to me that Dimi can learn to have fun and Claude can learn what it's like to be loved, and not just loved but also openly told how his partner feels about him, and so earnestly that Claude can't even doubt that Dimi is just exaggerating. Imo they give each other qualities that the other really needs and wants and they can do it seamlessly. ;_;
