I ended up getting on a roll, apologies, so I put this under a read-more ^^;;;

It depends on the character for sure! I usually end up really vibing with a concept i want to build around, like a personality archetype or a story element. Usually this is a pretty generic concept, and then I build out the rest of the OC, trying to understand their place in the world and how the life they've lived has affected who they are, and make it more personal to me so I get attached.

Caelan for example, is a fae prince who was raised as a weapon by his family during a war, due to his abilities and how intense his magic is-- he was hunting the enemy prince down, had him cornered in a fight, when the ground falls apart beneath them and they're pulled underground-- deep into webbed catacombs, where they're hunted by a monster over and over again. His whole concept was basically born from the desire to play with the idea 'character trapped in a maze being hunted by a creature'. Which--- was initially a concept i started playing with because of a song about the ghosts in pacman being trapped in the game and eaten by pacman xD

I think the main exception to this style of creation for me is Artair, which I'm sure you were asking about! So I apologize ahead of time for the tangent incoming xD

My very first character I ever rped online was Arthur from Mystery Skulls Animated, which was a collection of music videos following a plot revolving around four main characters dealing with the supernatural, set to indie artist Mystery Skulls' songs. But the thing was, MSA only gave us the vaguest details about the characters when the first video came out, which is when I started writing him. The most we knew about Arthur was that he had been possessed and forced to kill a teammate, and that he lost his arm to an animal teammate that seemed to stop the possession. Also that he was kinda like-- a fraidy cat? MSA was basically a parody of Scooby Doo with a twist, so he was a little like a yellow shaggy lol.

But yeah, it was actually really cool because every version of the same character was so wildly different, because it was so vague that there was so much room for interpretation! We weren't sure how well the group knew each other except that they were on the same team, we were only given blood types to determine personality, we didn't even know if the animal teammate spoke to the team-- even things like how they grew up or where they were or family dynamics were up in the air at the time. When his uncle was revealed soon after the video, I wrote Arthur as growing up with him after his own parents passed, but there were dozens of interpretations-- some where Arthur only came to live with him as an adult, or an older kid, with details ranging from his family was bad news, passed, or just too busy to look after him. One of the characters didn't have a last name for years. It was all kinda just--- free real estate lol.

So over the course of a decade I wrote him, i built out every detail about Arthur, including stuff like his history/backstory, his relationships, his abilities, his personality beyond the fearfulness-- even some details about the events that were canon. Over time as I was writing him, he changed personalities in a lot of major ways too, as storylines from rps and events happened while writing him. He changed, for better and worse, and the things I focused on more were less and less aligned with canon. I started experimenting with ideas and concepts i really liked too, especially ones like him being a medium, which then further deviated into eldritch/celestial/fae stuff, since I always had a deep interest in those kinds of beings. But that only continued to take him further and further from anything resembling MSA lol.

And I guess at some point a few years ago, i realized he was basically an OC, but with a canon coat of paint?

Soooo I basically took him and gave him a redesign and overhaul to make him an OC. I kept some elements i loved of Arthur that drew me to him in the first place, but I tried to get away from his original design as much as I could without making him feel too different to my brain. I kept a version of events similar to the first video, due to how formative they were, but everything else pretty much got chucked out. The rest I kept was heavily altered if it wasn't reliant on my own headcanons already.

The only other thing I kept was kind of keeping his name similar. I kept Arthur as a name he used for a while growing up due to kids being mean about 'weird' names, which he still uses as a safety precaution with people/fae, since so much of his history he was known by it. Then I gave him a scots version as his official legal name, since I had headcanoned Arthur was directly scottish anyways and would likely pick it, with the headcanon that as Artair got older he stopped caring what people thought of his name and started going by the one he chose. It was different enough to feel i was separating him from MSA, but close enough that it didn't feel wrong when I was so attached to 'Arthur' as his name for a decade (part of my initial attachment to him was connection to Arthur as a name and him being the color yellow, whoops)

But yeah! Overall for me, it's just about interesting or fun narrative concepts. And then there's Artair being the one canon guy who got hit with extreme OC-ification beams over time xD

Yes, he mocked your intelligence by asking if rats ate your brain or whether you were just born this stupid, but the way he ruffled your hair as he fake-pouted at you made something bubble in your stomach.

It's no surprise you ended up with Douma in the men's restroom, a hand smacked tightly over your mouth that day.

You weren't allowed to ride the high of having hooked up with the hottest guy on campus for long.

Throughout the night you were bombarded with messages from your friends, all of them being about Douma. Why didn't you tell them? Was he good? ... Was he big?

A small blush across up your cheeks at the sudden confession.

I thought we could just... hook up and I would forget about my stupid little crush and of course it just made me like you even more, because c'mon you're hot as fuck." He sighs pinching the bridge of his nose dramatically. "So what I'm trying to say here is that I would really like to make it up to you because I'm really fucking sorry and I would also really, really like to take you on a date and have a fresh start, please?" A shy smile painted his features.

You laughed. You were stupid if you were to deny him like this, especially considering you really liked him too.

Krueger Thoughts

I think Krueger didn't really pay much mind to their age gap when they started being a couple.

Krueger mentally didn't change much after killing his parents, hell, he was emotionally stunted before that too. So he's kind of just been stuck at 27 for a while now.

He did worry initially if Nak likes him because they spend a lot of their time together and she thinks that automatically means she has to have romantic interest in him or if she likes him because he's the first guy she finds somewhat attractive.

So he quickly asked her directly to get it out of the way. It was more like a back and forth interrogation than asking the specific terms of their relationship.

It relieved Krueger significantly seeing that Phayvanh isn't dependent on him. She's still able to be her own person with or without him. She pays her own bills, has her own place, she's good at her job, she gets to hang out with her friends, and she tries her best to communicate clearly with him, etc.

Krueger often made sure everything in their relationship was set at her own pace that she was comfortable with. He doesn't want to cross any boundaries with her or force her into doing something she doesn't want to.

There's not really a power dynamic between them since Nak has more experience in terms of being in the field (Documented and Undocumented) she's not some naïve woman who got shipped off to Urzikstan.

Phayvanh could be years older than him and he'd still date her because he just genuinely likes her.

Hi Daze! So something just happened & it's like

Someone asked to translate a fic I'm writing and repost it on Wattpad, which I just politely declined, but right after they asked me if they could use my fic for inspiration.

Right after asking to translate and repost my fic.

So I was a more than a little skeptical about this request even tho normally it's flattering. After talking about it with a friend they did some digging since they still had a Wattpad account and what boggled me the most was that their Wattpad profile said they were 17yrs old.

The fic they wanted to translate I've rated M.

And so that was a nail in the coffin for me to politely tell them "no, please dont use my fic for inspiration," & I wanted to include "I looked at your profile and it said you're only 17 yrs old" but I didnt want to really...I guess shame the person in the comments section? And I didnt want to risk getting arguments back like "17 is the legal age in my country," so I just stuck with "no, I hope you understand."

But I'm just outstanded. Tbh my fic has nothing explicit yet since it's a slow burn BUT IT'S RATED M FOR A REASON. BECAUSE I'M THINKING OF TRYING TO GET THERE. As much as I would be flattered to be someone's inspiration, I'm really not flattered at all when the fic is for adults and the admirer is still legally a child. Another acquaintance actually told me this is common on Wattpad too.

Ahh that really does suck a lot! Sadly I've come to know just how little minors respect the age ratings of smut fics since I started this blog and it makes me really angry honestly.

Noo but the fact that they asked if they could use your story as "inspiration" immediately after you didn't allow them to repost your work to wattpad is so suspicious 🤨 That definitely would have made me do a double take as well. I've seen enough cases where people said they were inspired by the story and then simply copied like 90% of the events that happen in the fic that "inspired" them.

So I definitely can't blame you for wanting to check! And 17... oof. A work is tagged as explicit/ mature for a reason! We don't want minors to read our works, why is that so hard to understand? 😭

But I get you with the arguing thing, it's such a bother that minors will argue over and over that actually they're adults in their country so it's okay, when I think it's pretty obvious that we mean 18+ when we say our fics are for adults

I haven't been too much on wattpad personally ( so in case you find one of my stories there : It's not from me djdjd) but I honestly believe it. That website is wild

i dont know if you play jpstars, but when you play the anniv and theme mvs (the one that has a little orange square bubble in the left corner of the music option, theyre in the farthest below among the unit categories n all that) basically the all stars mv, the one thats gonna sing are your team members and the character in your center will be the lead singer! I JUST THINK THATS AWESOME LIKE YOU CAN CHANGE IT WHENEVER AND YOU CAN MAKE ANYONE YOU LIKE SING, in my case I always put mika in the center heheheh my silly little scrunkly!!

theres also this thing abt the surprising thanks!! mv (7th/recent anniv mv) that theyll give the main three in your mv (center and the ones beside them) a special outfit change! there are 4 options that you can pick before the mv, the first being random (among the ones thats gonna be mentioned) and the others being cherry (the outfit stays the same), 777 (changes to the one like in the official/yt mv, super awesome and sparkly) and jackpot! in jackpot i assumed theyre gonna choose a random one, so its basically a gamble.

FUNNY THING MY FIRST TIME PLAYING THE MV AND PICKED RANDOM THEY GAVE ME JACKPOT AJD GAVE ME MY TWO FAVORITE MIKA AND ARASHI FEATURE SCOUT 5* OUTFIT THAT I DONT EVEN HAVE THE CARD OF I WAS RLLY HAPPY, they gave ritsu the 6th anniv uniform (he was wearing the meowsketeer costume LMAO).

afterwards I tried to put shu in the main 3 to see my absolute favorite feature scout outfit that i REALLY want but have never gotten the chance or luck of getting and set it to jackpot, but he kept getting rlly generic and lame ones 💀 i was so distraught like i tried over 5 times and it aint doing shit.

they did gave mika the bunny⭐️puffy uniform two times and thats cute though!! i love him so much.

I imagine that in a self-aware AU they would be even more honored to be put on the team if you played a song like that! Usually all they can do is follow the moves and watch as you play the game. They perk up when you choose one of their own songs because it means they can show you their passion properly and sing just for you! Meanwhile they probably don't enjoy dancing to someone else's song that much. Why choose their song over one of their own?

But with the ones where the voices change? Oh, they're very happy!! You could have chosen anyone else but you put them on the team! These songs don't have an advantage for any particular color or unit members so you had complete free reign when it came to picking the idols you wanted.

So when you chose them over all the others? They're so so happy!! Especially the one you decide to put as the center. You love them the most, don't you? Oh they love you so much too!!!

And omg I didn't know that that was a thing for surprising thanks??? I actually haven't played the song yet so this was completely news to me! That's such a cool feature! I already was impressed with the way the beatmap would change in fusionic stars depending on who you put as center but now we also get outfit changes? And it's even possible to get them to wear outfits you don't even have? That's so cool!!

Imagine if this wasn't actually in the game originally and the characters just put that feature into the game themselves in hopes of impressing you with all the outfits they have to offer. You may not have pulled for their cards but that's okay, they'll just have to show you what you've been missing out on and maybe then you'll reconsider and give them some more attention!

At the same time, maybe the idols try to mess with the wardrobe of the ones you seem to prefer and only give them the really basic outfits you'll find boring. Don't they shine way brighter compared to them?

So direct your gaze their way and forget about those idols that couldn't even be bothered to dress up properly for you!

Meanwhile your favorites in question are upset that someone replaced their clothes without their knowledge. They wanted to show off an outfit you sadly didn't manage to get to cheer you up a bit but now that was so rudely taken away from them.

KDNDJDJDJ working while being in uni is definitely not a easy thing to balance but I do my best!

I live on my own and pay for everything myself so like someone needs to work ya know? djdjd😂 but I enjoy it most of the time the days it gets overwhelming I make it a point to take a step back before my head explodes. As for my job!! I love it I get sad thinking I'll have to leave at some point down the road to work at a hospital and or base camp full time but I'm making the most of it. I get to met and interact with lots of people which hasn't been the best thing this past year because of covid. I've had lots of close calls and had to get lots of covid tests and quarantine fjdnd. It's been hell truly 😭I agree our noses have had enough!! it's so bad I hate the feeling of it. I hope you manage to get your second shot soon enough my love! and in so sorry you've had to deal with that work I know it's stressful whenever you get that call that's said someone you've been in close contact with is sick so then everyone you've come in contact with passes through your head. It's just a mess😓 but I wish you the best angel and that you stay safe and healthy 💜
