Damn, they really sidelined and got rid of Kalinda, the only queer character on the show, to bring Jason, a recycled white male iteration.
But of course since this investigator has the right gender, Alicia fucks him on the spot.
(Not that they could have ever given us a same gender relationship between two leads on CBS--even had the feud never happened, but their friendship would have been enough.)
I'm choosing to ignore the Kings' "She might work things out with him post finale" and stick to the actual full-circle ending:
Alicia becoming her own person and making her own morally ambiguous choices instead of walking into the sunset in the arms of yet another man.
--
Of course, in my heart of hearts, things do get a little soapy.
A few weeks after Bishop gets sentenced to life, Alicia takes a plane from Chicago to Miami.
The camera cuts to Kalinda drinking her favorite tequila at a bar.
She is working for the law again. That's what she's good at; that's what Alicia would want.
Alicia. Kalinda often finds herself thinking of her. Diane and Cary too.
Of course, she goes by Sarita these days. Leela, Kalinda, Sarita. Does she even know who she is anymore?
While she's lost in thought, her background gets deblurred. We hear a familiar feminine voice.
"You're really hard to find."
There's enough time to see Kalinda's body stiffen, her surprised/shocked face and the turn of her head, but before we can see Alicia, the scene cuts to black.

So i've been relistening to gallifrey and i've been thinking about how yeah its a story about gallifreyan politics, but its also a story of a bunch of outcasts making their own family together (although through admittedly not great circumstances)
Like you've got romana, and yeah she might be the president, but she was also the kid who didn't have friends in school, and though she's pretty popular among the general population, she's disliked by a lot of the other politicians on gallifrey
And then there's leela who was cast out from her tribe before leaving her planet and everyone/everything she'd ever known behind to go travel the universe. Then she ends up on a planet that is hostile to outsiders and decides to stay there
And of course there's narvin who has been described as the black sheep of his chapter. he left behind the life that was expected of him to join the cia
And with brax he's probably the closest a person can get to being a renegade while still being allowed to participate in normal time lord society
and these four somehow manage to find each other (even if they don't particularly like each other at first) and come together to form their own little group where they all do actually belong

"I'm a spy, not a politician. That means even I don't know whose side I'm on."
ahhhhh mid/early era narvin when I still want to punch him but also was like hmmm... is such a character, I love him, I hate him, I would bite him.

Hello, moot! How are you? I'm rewatching THORS (once again) and I'm ugly crying while mouthing along their lines but that has nothing to do with my ask. Just thought it would be nice and polite to say hello.
Tumblr media
Anyway my ask is I've seen people (official DW/BF people and fans) call River a Time Lord, human+, Proto Time Lord, and not a Time Lord because it's a title not a species. Personally, I've gone with human+. But another moot argued she's a Time Lord. What's your take on it?
Hiiii great to hear from you :D My name’s Tree by the way! Aaaah good for you, I got a love-hate relationship with that episode but those last ten minutes are 😭 *chef's kiss* I should rewatch it, it is that time of year, and I haven’t seen it since my Doctor Who Christmas Specials Rewatch last December!
Anyway!
I most often call River a Proto-Time Lord, or sometimes a part Time Lord/part human. (I’m not sure Proto-Time Lord is accurately descriptive, since it kinda sounds like it should refer to ancients like the Founders who weren't born with regeneration, but it’s the word I generally use because it feels closest to capturing the complexity of River Song!) Human+ sounds cool too though! (Especially as in, human+Time Lord.)
Because — while yeah, she is a genetically modified human with no known Gallifreyan DNA — it’s clear Kovarian did a lot more to deliberately make her resemble a Gallifreyan than just the Time Vortex related things like time-sense and regeneration. Her two hearts! Her respiratory bypass! No way those are related to Time Vortex exposure — it's Gallifreyan biology. Kovarian wanted her to be a match for the Doctor in every way.
Honestly, since there's no one really like her (apart from her clones), I think a lot of it's down to how she relates to herself and her identity.
I think the Doctor was really excited to learn that she's like him, in many ways — and that kind of affirmation would mean a lot to someone who grew up feeling like an outsider, having been told she was a just weapon, so she would have a connection to her Time Lord-ness as well as her human-ness.
But that doesn't mean she wouldn't still introduce herself a psychopath long before attempting to explain her species to a stranger.
(I don't think most qualified Academy graduates would consider her a Time Lord, though. Eyyy, nine times out of ten, they're too dead to say.)

And welcome back to another edition of Antioch Answers! After a harrowing brush with death, yours truly is back with another round of fascinating details for the voracious mind. So, you know how tv channels like to shove Christmas in July in your face? Well, dear readers, it's come to my attention that we're halfway from Valentines, almost to the day! So on that note, let's talk about love, hate, and the fine line in between.
Everyone knows the stories about John Weaver and the woods around his land. You go in, you don't come out… Unless you have an invitation, and the APD's favorite professor to profile for homicide has been seen around town with the Weaver Patriarch and going onto his turf. Of course, Maharth Chandrasekhar is not the only one that's been spotted recently, but let's protect the names of the bloody.
Speaking of bloody, let's shift our focus to another home grown killer. Leon Walsh (Kennedy? Who knows.) gained infamy for managing to kill part of his family at just ten years old and his story has made a return with all the hype about the movie based on on those life-changing events. Instead of garnering murder groupies like Charles Manson, instead Leon has managed to get himself stabbed according to leaked information. Our tip line is open for hints on who stabbed him if it wasn't the husband he won't divorce, but until then… Paging Linus Walsh, sounds like you've got the storyline for a sequel here.
And finally, Nic Vergara has been seen disappearing into Leela Rajan's home during the middle of the day. A strange place for a man trying to get back with his ex to be, don't you think? But even if she's a grieving widow, surely Miss Rajan has needs... and they say sexually frustrated men are the most invested in construction. Maybe he wanted to try banging against the walls in a different kind of way.

Watched the new Futurama episodes hoping it'd be better than the last season. That first episode was kinda dogshit ngl, exact same things I had gripes w last time. The second one was a lot better though imo! It didn't spell out what it was parodying quite as hard and put enough of a spin on it for it to work
