memories were a fickle thing. oikawa was never one to dwell on the past but recently, that’s all he’d been doing.
ever since most of the house suddenly... removed themselves from meiko, tooru had had more time on his hands than ever before.
he filmed his videos, maybe went to go pester iwaizumi a bit (when he didn’t have his hands full with management), and then waited for that one day a week where he got to let loose for a bit and drop his inhibitions.
kyōtani and yahaba were the best companions for the job — kyō was intimidating and mean looking which scared away any creeps and yahaba tended to be funny and sarcastic which alleviated any possible tension that could’ve crept up.
all in all, they were a great trio, perfect for distracting one another from whatever was going on in their lives.
of course, they had to deal with kyōtani’s inadvertent panty-dropping but with a couple of snide remarks from tooru and yahaba, they were golden.
oikawa enjoyed his time with them, because when he was out there, in the club surrounded by his friends and other drunk, sweaty people, he didn’t have to think. he didn’t have to remember.
he didn’t have to think about why meiko seemed to be so keen with his best friend and not him. he didn’t have to remember the countless times he cried himself to sleep because he just wasn’t good enough, why wasn’t he ever good enough??
but now, the object of his pain and inferiority was coming with him, invading his last safe haven where she didn’t exist. his escape door was closing and as dramatic as he felt, he knew that this would be the end of something, something he genuinely cared about.
tooru sighed, his eyes falling upon his face in the mirror. he looked great (obviously), but something akin to regret and fear swam in his brown orbs.
ugh. that’s so not what he was going for. more glitter?
of course, the answer is always more glitter. digging through his makeup drawer, oikawa pulled out one of his more extensive (and expensive) eyeshadow palettes along with his blending brush and opened it up, spreading a hefty amount of turquoise glitter across his eyelid.
a loud knock sounded at his door, jolting his hand and sending a streak of pigment smearing across his cheek. “fucking hell,” tooru muttered, placing the brush and eyeshadow down before opening his bedroom door.
out in the hall stood meiko, clad in a way too short, way too slutty, hot pink dress, uneven fishnets, and 6 inch stilettos that she could barely walk in.
internally, oikawa was cringing at the foundation crumbling by her bright red lipstick and the concealer flaking around her black eye but he kept it together, too tired to deal with her bitching about his response to her appearance.
instead he stepped aside to let her into his room, her eyes trailing all over his (clearly superior) outfit as she stumbled into the doorway.
“is that what you’re wearing?” oikawa suppressed his eye roll at the question as he nodded, moving back towards his mirror to wipe off the stray glitter from his cheeks.
meiko scoffed, plopping down on his bed like she owned it while running a hand through her tacky extensions. “okay but isn’t the glitter a bit... much? like, you aren’t gonna get girls that way,” she tittered, tapping her acrylics on tooru’s 800 thread count bedsheets. “like, i love the lgbt or whatever but you look like super gay.”
oikawa tensed in front of the mirror for a split second before reaching down and grabbing his lipgloss just to spite her. “oh do i? funny how i just happen to be a member of the lgbt or whatever and just so happen to also be attracted to men. funny how that turns out, huh?”
he could hardly keep the venom out of his voice, earning him another annoyed scoff and an eye roll. “i said no offense.”
no, you didn’t, tooru thought, but he didn’t bother voicing this, knowing that in the end it didn’t matter. he could never be just the guy she wanted (macho, tall, big arms *cough cough* iwaizumi) and to be frank, he was kind of tired of trying.
“are you ready to go?” he asked, pulling on a couple rings and throwing on his chains and necklaces. a quick glance over to miss newborn deer revealed her picking her thong out of her ass and he internally groaned.
this was going to be hell.
“this is hell!” oikawa yelled over the music to his two companions while meiko was conveniently lost to the bathroom — something about needing to “refresh her smell” before meeting kyōtani.
yahaba gave him a concerned look while kyō made an understanding hum, gazing out onto the dance floor with his drink in his heavily tattooed hands.
if kyōtani wasn’t one of his best friends and unfortunately entirely straight, oikawa would’ve definitely hit that and he completely understood why meiko wanted to but kyō was a hard nut to crack. he rarely took women from the club home with him because although he didn’t seem like it, he was a hopeless romantic, a sucker for domesticity and a ring on a finger.
tooru was once like that, long before meeting meiko. he wanted to be with someone he was comfortable with, who he didn’t have to worry about anything with so he could just focus on the little things but as time went on, he became more and more cynical.
everyone who wanted to be with oikawa, wanted to do so for his looks or his fame and once he finally found someone who he thought would actually be the one, she was pulled away to be with other people (he wasn’t enough to keep her).
“hey,” kyōtani’s gruff voice knocked tooru out of his thoughts, kyō’s hand coming to rest on his shoulder. “you think too much. stop.”
oikawa couldn’t stop the grin from spreading across his face, earning him a small smile from his fuzzy headed friend. kyō was a man of few words but he always knew exactly what to say to get tooru out of his head.
a gift, truly.
actually this whole place, these people were gifts and he wasn’t going to allow meiko, the wicked bitch of the west, take it away from him. not if he had anything to say about it.
besides, if anyone could crush meiko’s spirit, it would be none other than kyōtani kentarou.

What My Korean Father Taught Me About Defending Myself in America
Born in 1939 during what would be the last years of the Japanese colonial occupation of Korea, my father, Choung Tai Chee, also called Charles or Chuck or Charlie, came to the United States in 1960. He was flashy, cocky, unafraid, it seemed, of anything. Wherever we were in the world, he seemed at home, right up until near the end of his life, when he was hospitalized after a car accident that left him in a coma. Only in that hospital bed, his head shaved for surgery, did he look out of place to me.
A tae kwon do champion by the age of 18 in Korea, he had begun studying martial arts at age 8, eventually teaching them as a way to put himself through graduate school, first in engineering and then oceanography, in Texas, California, and Rhode Island. He loved the teaching. The rising popularity of martial arts in the 1960s in Hollywood meant he made celebrity friends like Frank Sinatra Jr., Paul Lynde, Sal Mineo, and Peter Fonda, who my father said had fixed him up on a date with his sister, Jane, in the days before Barbarella. A favorite photo from his time in Texas shows him flying through the air, a human horseshoe, each of his bare feet breaking a board held shoulder high on each side by his students.
Tumblr media
When I complained about my wet boots during the winters growing up in Maine, he told me stories about running barefoot in the snow in Korea to harden his feet for tae kwon do. His answer to many of my childhood complaints was usually that I had to be tougher, stronger, prepared for any attack or disaster. The lesson his generation took from those they lost to the Korean War was that death was always close, and I know now that he was doing all he could to teach me to protect myself. When I cried at the beach at the water’s edge, afraid of the waves, he threw me in. “No son of mine is going to be afraid of the ocean,” he said. When I first started swimming lessons, he told me I had to be a strong swimmer, in case the boat I was on went down, so I could swim to shore. When he taught me to body-surf, he taught me about how to know the approach of an undertow, and how to survive a riptide. When I lacked a competitive streak, he took to racing me at something I loved—swimming underwater while holding my breath. I was an asthmatic child, but soon, intent on beating him, I could swim 50 yards this way at a time.
For all of that, he was an exceedingly gentle father. He took me snorkeling on his back, when I was five, telling me we were playing at being dolphins. There he taught me the names of the fish along the reef where we lived in Guam. He would praise the highlights in my hair, and laugh, calling me “Apollo.” And as for any pressure regarding my future career, he offered something very rare for a Korean man of his generation. “Be whatever you want to be,” he told me. “Just be the best at it that you can possibly be.”
Only when I was older did I understand the warning about being strong enough to swim to shore in another context, when I learned the boat he and his family had fled in from what was about to become North Korea nearly sank in a storm. In Seoul as a child, he scavenged food for his family with his older brother, coming home with bags of rice found on overturned military supply trucks, while his father went to the farms, collecting gleanings. His attempts to teach me to strip a chicken clean of its meat make a different sense now. I had thought of him as an immigrant without thinking about how the Korean War made him one of the dispossessed, almost a refugee, all before he left Korea.
When I began getting into fights as a child in the U.S., he put me into classes in karate and tae kwon do for these same reasons. He loved me and he wanted me to be strong. I just wasn’t sure how I was supposed to take on a whole country.
Tumblr media
We moved to Maine in 1973, when I was six years old. My father had taken us back to Korea after I was born, to work for his father, and then moved us around the Pacific—from Seoul to the islands of Truk, Kawaii, and Guam, in his and my mother’s attempts to set up a fisheries company. Maine was his next experiment, and not coincidentally, my mother’s home state. On my first day of the first grade, in the cafeteria, after a morning spent in what seemed like reasonably friendly classes, my troubles began when I went up to take an empty seat at a table and the blond haired, blue-eyed white boy seated there looked up with some alarm and asked me, “Are you a chink?”
“What’s a chink?” I asked, though I knew it wasn’t a compliment. I had never heard this word before.
“A Chinese person. You look like a chink. Is that why your face is so flat?”
This was also the first day I can remember being insulted about my appearance.
“I am not Chinese,” I said that day, naively. In a few years I would learn I was in fact part Chinese, 41 generations back, but at that moment, I tried to explain to him about how I was half Korean, a nationality and situation he had never heard of before. Half of what? And so this was also the first day I had to explain myself to someone who didn’t care, who had already decided against me.
He was a white boy from America, and he was repeating insults that seem to me to have come from a secret book passed out to white children everywhere in this country, telling them to call someone Asian “Chink,” to walk up to them, muttering “Ching-chong, ching-chong.” To sing a song, “My mother’s Chinese, my father’s Japanese, I’m all mixed up,” pulling their eyes first down and then up and then alternating up and down.
I was struck, watching Minari a few months ago, when the film’s Korean immigrant protagonist, David, is asked by a white boy in Arkansas in the 1980s why his face is so flat. “It’s not,” David says, forcefully—so many of us have this memory of someone saying this to us and responding that way. Why did a boy in Arkansas and a boy in Maine, in their small towns thousands of miles apart, before the internet, each know to make this insult?
When I got home from that first day at school, I asked my mother what the word “Chink” meant, and she flinched and covered her mouth in concern.
“Who said that to you?” she asked, and I told her. I don’t remember the conversation that followed, just the swift look of concern on her face. The sense that something had found us.
I was the only Asian-American student at my school in 1973, and the first many of my classmates had ever met. When my brother joined me at school three years later, he was the second. When my sister arrived, four years after him, she was the third. My mother is white, a blonde-haired, blue-eyed American, born in Maine to a settler family. I have six ancestors who fought in the Revolutionary War, but none of them had to fight this. I don’t know how to separate the teasing, harassment, and bullying that marked my 12 years of life there from that first racist welcome. It makes me question whether I really had a “temper” as a child, as I was told, or whether I was merely isolated by racism among racists, afraid and angry?
My father dealt with racism throughout most of his life by acting as if it had never happened—as if admitting it made it more powerful. He knew bullies loved to see their victims react and would tell me to not let what they said upset me. “Why do you care what they think of you?” he would say, and laugh as he clapped me on the shoulder. “They’re all going to work for you someday.”
“Don’t get even, get ahead,” was another of his slogans for me at these times. As if America was a race we were going to win.
Two decades after his death, writing in my diary while on a subway in New York City, I began counting off all of my activities as a child—choir, concert band, swimming, karate and tae kwon do, clarinet, indoor track, downhill and cross country skiing—and I asked myself if my parents were trying to raise Batman. Then I looked down to the insignia on my Batman t-shirt, and I laughed.
These lessons my father gave me—to be the best you can be, to fight off your enemies and defeat them, to swim to safety if the boat sinks, and in general toughen yourself against everything that would harm you—these I had absorbed alongside certain unspoken lessons, taken from observing his life as a Korean immigrant. To have two names, one American, known to the public, and one Korean, known only to a few intimates; to get rid of your accent; and to dress well as a way to keep yourself above suspicion. Did I need to train like a superhero just to be a person in America? Maybe.
Tumblr media
But if I thought of superheroes, it was because my father was like one to me, training me to be like him.
One legend I heard about my father when I was growing up is the story of a night he was being held up at gunpoint, while he was unpacking his car. Whoever it was asked him to shut the trunk and turn around and raise his hands in the air. He agreed to, slamming the car trunk down so forcefully, he sank his fingertips into the metal.
By the time he turned around, the would-be stick-up artist was gone.
He would often ask me and my brother to punch him, as hard as we could, in his stomach. He was proud of his abdominal strength—it was like punching a wall. We would shake our hands, howling, and he would laugh and rub our heads. One time he even used it as a gag to stop a bully.
A boy on my street had developed the habit of changing the rules during our games if his team started losing. We had fights over it that could be heard up and down the street, and one day I chased him with a Wiffle bat, him laughing as I ran. My father stepped in the next time he tried to change the rules during a game and prevented it, telling him all games in his yard had to have the same rules at the beginning as the end—you couldn’t change them when you were losing. When the boy got mad, he said, “I bet you want to hit me, you should hit me. You’ll feel better. Hit me right here, in the stomach, as hard as you can.”
The boy hauled off and punched my dad in the stomach. I knew what was coming. The boy went home crying, shaking his hand at the pain. His mom came over and they had a talk. The rule-changing stopped.
I tried teasing my classmates back after being told to by my father. Stand-up as self-defense requires practice, though: During a “Where are you from?” exercise in the second grade, I told my classmates and teacher I had “Made in Korea” stamped on my ass, which elicited shocked laughter and a punishment from my teacher. I remember the glee when I called a classmate an ignoramus, and he didn’t know what it meant—and got angrier and angrier when I wouldn’t tell him, demanding that I explain the insult. When told to go back to where I came from, I said, “You first.”
Increasingly, I just hid, in the library, in books. When given detention, I exulted in the chance to be alone and read. I was an advanced student compared to my classmates, due in part to my mother being a schoolteacher, and I learned to make my intelligence a weapon.
The day several boys held me down on my street and ran their bicycles over my legs, to see if I could take it, as if maybe I wasn’t human, that felt like some new horrible level. I don’t remember how that ended or if I ever told anyone, just the feeling of the bicycle tires rolling over the skin of my legs. The day I bragged about my father being a martial artist to my classmates, they locked me in the bathroom and told me to fight my way out with kung fu, calling me “Hong Kong Phooey,” after the cartoon character, as they held the door shut. This was the fourth grade. After I got out of that bathroom and went home, I told my father about it, and he told me it was time to take tae kwon do. I had to learn to defend myself.
I would never be like him, never break boards like him, but for a while, I tried. I still cherish the day he gave me my first gi and showed me how to tie it. I learned I had a natural flexibility, which meant I could easily kick high, and I took pride in my roundhouse and reverse roundhouse kicks. But after a few years, my father took issue with a story he’d heard about my teacher’s arrogance toward his opponents, and he pulled me out of the classes. “It is very dangerous to teach in that spirit,” he told me. And he said something I would never forget. “The best fighter in tae kwon do never fights,” he said. “He always finds another way.”
I have thought about this for a long time. For the ordinary practitioner, tae kwon do and karate prepare you to go about your life, aware of what to do in case of assault. They offer no guarantee, just chances for preparedness in the face of the violence of others as well as the violence within yourself. At the time I felt my father was describing the responsibility that comes with knowing how to hurt someone, but I came to understand it as a principled if conditional non-violence, which, in this year of quarantine and rising racist violence, is one of the clearest legacies he left to me.
Like many of us, I have been trying to write about these most recent attacks on Asian-Americans, some of them in my old neighborhood in New York, and I keep starting and stopping. How do we protect ourselves and those we love? Can writing do that? I know I learned to use my intelligence as a weapon to keep myself safe from racists, starting as a child, and suddenly it doesn’t feel like enough. The violence is like a puzzle with many moving parts, but the stakes are life and death. “You’re really going to homework your way through this one?” I keep asking myself. The people attacking Asians and Asian Americans now are like the boy I met on my first day in the first grade. They don’t care whether or not we are actually Chinese—the primary experience Asian Americans have in common is mis-identification. The person who gets a patriotic ego boost off of calling me a “chink” isn’t going to check if they’re right about me, and I don’t imagine they’ll stop their fist or their gun if I say, “You’re just doing this because of America’s history of war in Asia,” even though we both know this is true. And so I have been thinking of my father and what he taught me.
The most overt way my father fought racism in front of me involved no fighting at all. He founded a group called the Korean American Friendship Association of Maine, which helped new Korean immigrants move to Maine and find work, community, and housing, along with offering lessons on how to open bank accounts, pay taxes, file immigration paperwork, and get drivers’ licenses. For both of my parents, community organizing, activism, and mutual aid like this were commitments they shared and enjoyed and passed along to us, their children, and this led to much of my own work as an activist, teacher, and writer. I am not my father, but I am much as he made me.
There’s a difference between fighting racists and fighting racism. Where my father stayed silent, I have learned I have to speak out, which has felt, even while writing this, a little like betraying him. And as a biracial gay Korean American man, I don’t experience the same identifications or misidentifications he did. I am mistaken for white, or at least “not Asian,” as often as I’m mistaken for Chinese, and have felt like a secret agent as people speak in front of me about Asians in ways they would not otherwise. I learned most of my adult coping strategies for street violence from queer activist organizations after college.
Even as I write, “I wonder if he ever felt fear living in America,” it feels like a betrayal, especially as he isn’t around for me to ask him. I think again about how my father always made a point of dressing well, for example, but it always felt like more than that. Men wearing suits as a kind of armor, that isn’t so strange. He had his suits made at J. Press, wore handmade English leather shoes—shoes that fit me. I sometimes wear them for special occasions. Among my favorite objects of his is a monogrammed J. Press canvas briefcase, the name “CHEE” in embossed leather between the straps. After his father gave him an Omega Constellation watch when I was born, he eventually acquired others. For a time I thought he did this aspirationally, but most of his family in Korea is like this: Well-dressed, with a preference for tailoring and handmade clothes. All of my memories of my uncles coming from the airport to visit us involve them arriving in their blazers.
The first time I followed my father’s advice to wear a sports jacket when flying, I received a spontaneous upgrade. I didn’t have frequent flyer miles and the person checking me in was not flirting with me either. There was nothing but the moment of grace, and the feeling that my father, from beyond the grave, was making a point as I sat down in my new, larger, more spacious seat. Because I had never tried out this advice while he was alive.
Like much of my father’s advice, it came from his keen awareness of social contexts, and it worked. His wardrobe came from the pleasure of a dare more than a disguise. You don’t acquire a black and gold silk brocade smoking jacket in suburban Maine because you want to fit in with your white neighbors. Sometimes his clothes were a charm offensive, sometimes just a sass. The jacket advice may well have been an anticipation of racist treatment, of a piece with perfecting his English so he had no accent, and raising us to speak only English. My mother spoke more Korean to us as children than he did—a remnant of her time living in Seoul.
Now that I am old enough to choose to learn Korean, I still feel like a child disobeying him, just as I do when I dress too casually, or acknowledge that I’ve experienced racism. I know I am just making different choices, as you do when you are grown, but also, I am stepping out from behind his program to protect myself. I feel the fears he never spoke about, and instead simply addressed with what now look like tactics. At these moments I miss him as much as I ever do, but especially for how I would tell him, this may have protected you. It won’t protect me.
In my kitchen the other day, as I was making coffee, I fell into the ready stance, with my right foot back, left foot forward, and snapped my right leg up and out in a front snap kick. This is the basic first kick you learn in tae kwon do. And you do it again, and again, and again, until it is muscle memory. You move across the room this way and then turn to begin again.
I wasn’t sure if my form was exactly right, but it felt good. Memories came back of the sweaty smell of the practice room, the other students, the mirrors on the walls, the fluorescent lights. All those years ago, I had thought my father had put me in those classes in order to become him, but as I sent my practice kicks through the air, I remembered how even learning them made me feel safer, protected at least by the knowledge that he loved me. I could not have said this at the time, but after those attacks, I had feared I wasn’t strong enough to be his son.
I still fear that. I suppose it drives me, even now. It is dehumanizing to insist on your humanity, even and perhaps especially now, and so I am not doing that here. Each time I’ve tried to write even this, a rage takes over, and then the only thing I want to do with my hands doesn’t involve writing, and I stop. But I know from learning to fight that hitting someone else means using yourself to do it. My father’s advice, about fighting being the last resort, has given me another lesson: You turn yourself into the weapon when you strike someone else—in the end, another way to erase yourself—and so you do that last. In the meantime, you fight that first fight with yourself, for yourself.
You may never be able to protect what you love, but at least you can try. At least you will be ready.

Continued from here for @crossxskulled !
Sonia swallowed, goosebumps emerging over her bare forearms. He'd asked for her help and she'd given it, but had she been too frank, too liberal, with her advice? She never meant to anger him and yet across from her, Ryuji seemed to be reaching his boiling point. As much as he could tolerate, at least, of her feedback regarding his rather unsatisfactory preparation for the upcoming exam. Sonia didn't doubt that he tried, and thus she supposed it simply didn't come easy to him. A lot of things didn't, she guessed, at least in comparison to her own life and skills. And yet he kept beating on, towards a goal he kept in his sights no matter what deemed to throw itself into his path.
"I'd never mean to offend you, Ryuji-san, and I admit tutoring is not exactly a skill of mine," She assured him quickly with a repentant look, "I just wanted to help is all. And you really do have a good start, it's just that some of the verb tenses are mixed up and some of the nouns are misplaced, the ones in particular that sound like one another but can mean a completely different thing. I remember when I first came here and thought my classmate looked particularly cute in her kimono before a dancing performance, and when I meant to say 'kawaii' I accidentally told her she was 'kowai' and she had the greatest tantrum right before she was to go onstage! So it's a challenge yet very important to get it right." At least Hiyoko had forgiven her. Eventually. Once Sonia had presented her with a giant box of gummies from across Europe in a variety of flavors.
But his will to succeed seemed to outweigh his anger, a relief for her as she reached for her tea, needing some refreshment if she were to explain in further detail any of her notes made to his work. Yet what he asked instead gave her pause, her sip of tea halfway up her straw as Sonia contemplated her answer. Did she give him the truth, or did she tell him an answer to settle his own anxieties?
She exhaled in resignation. Lying came difficult enough as a Princess when she needed to tell a half-truth, but as Sonia Nevermind, she could not look him in his brown eyes and fib. His question was a sincere one, and he deserved an answer of the same caliber. The blonde took a small sip of her tea, if just for reinforcement to her resolve in being frank with him. "About five minutes," She replied sheepishly, setting her glass aside. "Though I looked it over once again an hour later in case I'd made any mistakes, or I'd missed anything you needed to change."
Tumblr media
"But I've had years to practice my English, so please do not compare abilities!" She continued to reassure him. English, German, Spanish, Dutch, Swedish, Japanese, Chinese, Arabic, and so forth: anything beyond the traditionally spoken French and Italian that was prevalent throughout her country. But languages had come to her both early in life and naturally, as needed for a future monarch to converse with various dignitaries and fellow royals. "And you will be a proficient English speaker, that I have no doubt. I'm not sure if it'll help you, but what's helped me learn new languages is not a textbook or drills but practical application. Do you have a favorite film or television show in English? Perhaps watching it with only optional subtitles and repeating those lines can help. Or visiting areas of Tokyo where foreigners congregate. I know of some restaurants that serve English foods, perhaps even American or Canadian foods, where you could practice your conversation." There was always the option of books and magazines in English too, but she decided to give suggestions two at a time, if just not to overwhelm him. Or at least, she'd try not to.
Unfortunately, she had a sinking suspicion that she was failing in that task. The prospect of being swept up into frivolities, especially in his company, was looking both more and more appealing and more and more awkward by the passing second, though Sonia was willing to suppress her own nerves for the sake of fun: away from schoolwork, from responsibilities, even from dreams to just be teenagers for as long as they could.

Dino Watches Anime (Dec. 21)
I postponed posting this for a while because I wanted to wait until the Fall 2020 season was over. Now, it’s almost Christmas. Some parts of the world are snowing, and as I feel the HUGE 2021 WINTER ANIME SEASON APPROACHING, I will reminisce about the anime that I will miss (or not).
Half of these aren’t even seasonal.
Anyway, I’m going to make some sort of “TOP ? ANIME OF 2020″ even though I haven’t watched half the seasonal anime I set out on watching HAHAHA!
Not Seasonal
As usual, I am periodically watching Gintama (which I’ve watched 106 episodes) and Hunter x Hunter (2011) (which I’ve watched 13 episodes), but I won’t finish those anytime soon.
Gangsta (ON-HOLD - 3/12)
Tumblr media
I feel like I have to be in the right mood to watch this, and I just haven’t been. However, I can’t say it’s a bad show at all. In fact, it’s quite good, especially considering that it was done by a studio that went bankrupt. Seriously, they closed up the season after this anime aired. Surprisingly, they’ve done a lot of good anime in the past. Samurai Champloo, Ergo Proxy, and some other ones.
Space☆Dandy (COMPLETED)
Tumblr media
I was on and off in terms of dropping this. I didn’t enjoy a good chunk of the episodes because... a lot of them rely on fanservice. To be quite frank, this anime’s motives can be boiled down to being h*rny. However, some random episodes/segments are good. And the animation... the animation of the non-fanservice scenes are masterful. I’m actually going to dive into this a little bit to justify why I’m actually watching this.
Studio Bones is amazing when they commit themselves to an anime, and looking at the staff, you can certainly see that this anime will be fun to look at. It’s a spectacle.
Sayo Yamamoto has done some incredible stuff in her career. Despite her role in Space Dandy season 1 being small (episode director of episode 2), I wanted to still cover her works. Her portfolio is massive, and she’s only 43. She did the storyboard for some really stylistic and unique openings like Arakawa Under the Bridge (both seasons), Kakegurui (which despite being heavily sexualized, is incredibly fluid and eyecatching even for me), and Psycho-Pass. She also did some storyboarding for the Attack on Titan ending and Samurai Champloo. Not to mention the obvious: She’s the director of Yuri!!! on Ice.
Tumblr media
Shingo Natsume is a director for this series, and he has a lot of works too. For one, he was the director of One Punch Man season one which was really well-animated. He has also worked on some Masaaki Yuasa works, Gurren Lagann, and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.
Tumblr media
Last but certainly not least, Shinichirou Watanabe is also a director here, and even to someone who isn’t that versed in animation staff, he is incredibly well-known and skilled. He’s the director of many incredible works including Kids on the Slope, Zankyou no Terror (also the original creator), Samurai Champloo, Cowboy Bebop, and Carole & Tuesday (also the original creator).
Tumblr media
There are even more amazing directors and contributors to this series, so rest assured, this anime looks good.
But once you get past all the wonderful visuals, the characters are meh and the story is... not that good. The voice acting is great. Junichi Suwabe is amazing as Dandy, Hiroyuki Yoshino plays a good wimp as Meow, and Uki Satake actually surprised me because I haven’t heard of her really but she plays the perfect QT. This anime is like having great icing on the cake, but the cake is actually a cowcake.
Zettai Karen Children: The Unlimited - Hyoubu Kyousuke (COMPLETE)
Tumblr media
This anime is meh. Everything is meh. This was also done by Manglobe which went bankrupted shortly after Gangsta aired. The animation was alright. I thought this anime was older than it was because I wasn’t that impressed by the visuals. Cowboy Bebop looks better than it despite being almost a decade-and-a-half older. The voice acting was alright. I’m not the greatest fan of Kouji Yusa, but it’s mostly because I don’t like his voice. I’ve heard Junichi Suwabe portray other characters better because there was more substance in those other characters. The rest of the cast was forgettable. I didn’t even bother watching the parent series of this spinoff because it’s not needed, and after watching one episode of it, I wouldn’t be able to sit through the rest of it. There were some redeeming points to the story, but when your biggest plot twist is sticking out going, “LOOK AT ME, I’M A PLOT TWIST!”, you start to go, “I would be more surprised if they didn’t pull that plot twist.” And I guess it goes without saying, but the main guys do not end up together despite some of the hints they dropped.
Another funny thing is that they put a disclaimer that “this is not based on real events”, but they put in a ton of references to WWII which can be... troublesome? I don’t know how to put it, but after watching Hetalia, I’m very apprehensive about any anime trying to portray real-life events like that.
Seasonal
Munou na Nana
Tumblr media
Honestly, I found the manga better. The anime captures just a portion of the suspense and stuff that goes on in the manga, and the manga holds a lot more suspense. It’s kind of like how Junji Ito anime usually have a hard time. Horror is just like that in general though. It relies a lot on the psychological effect, and the anime just didn’t have it for me anyway.
[I also don’t like this show’s comedy and find it lacklustre]
Kamisama ni Natta Hi
Tumblr media
You know how in my previous post I sensed this really going downhill? I was right! This anime got really shitty halfway through after Izanami’s dad had his touching episode. Next week is the final episode, but we all know half of Jun Maeda’s anime end off a cliff.
Tonikaku Kawaii
Tumblr media
This anime got boring after a while. You know they did it off-screen. Puppy love is okay in small doses for me, but a whole anime about that and only that? It was... alright. I’m not the target audience, honestly. BUT, if you’re tired of stupid love triangles and misunderstandings, this anime is a breath of fresh air. Not to mention, it’s canon from Day 1.
Ani ni Tsukeru Kusuri wa Nai! 4
Tumblr media
This anime took no commitment, and some of the episodes were enjoyable, so I can’t say I wasted my time, but they truly only peaked in season one.
Jujutsu Kaisen
Tumblr media
While I’m still not incredibly sold on the series, it’s really starting to take shape. The OP and ED are reasons to watch alone... and Gojo seems to be a popular choice for ladies who are into white-haired anime guys. Either way, it’s still a solid watch, but they need those character arcs to come in fast because the only thing I feel is really holding this show back is character depth (and I know they have it in the manga). The art, the voice acting, the music, everything else is there, and the story is, as I said, starting to take shape.
Maoujou de Oyasumi
Tumblr media
I saved this one for last because this anime was so pure and wholesome, and it was definitely the biggest surprise of the season! I know some of the people I know are into those dating sims with the demon kings and whatever, but consider this demon king from this show. He’s an utter wreck, can’t be evil half the time, is a himbo, and you really wonder how they managed to keep their own castle together. The princess isn’t trapped in the castle with the demons, the demons are trapped in the castle with her. She commits burglary, assault, genocide, and mutilation is the name of a good sleep. Her name is also a pun on sleeping.

Undying Au- What chapter is this
help
“Akko Akoo!” shouted Diana sadly. “No, please, come back!” But I was too mad. “Whatever! Now u can go anh have sex with Vampire!” I shouted. I stormed into my room and closed my black door with my blood-red key. It had a picture of Marylin Manson on it. He looked so sexy in a way that reminded me of Diana and Vampire. I started to cry and weep. I took a razor and started to slit my wrists. I drank the blood all depressed. Then I looked at my black GC watch and noticed it was time to go to Biology class. I put on a short ripped black gothic dress that said Anarchy on the front in blood red letters and was all ripped and a spiky belt. Under that I put on ripped black fishnets and boots that said Joel all over them with blood red letters. I put my chestnut brown hair out. Anyway I went downstairs feeling all sad and depressed as usual. I did sum advanced Biology work. I was turning a bloody pentagram into a black guitar. Suddenly the guitar turned to Diana! “Akko I love you!” she shouted sadly. “I dnot care what those fucker preps and posers fink. Ur da most beautiful girl in the world. Before I met you I used to want to commit suicide all the time. Now I just wanna fucking be with you. I fucking love you!.” Then…………….s he started to sing “Da Chronicles of Life and Death” (we considered it our song now cuz we fell in love when Joel was singing it) right in front of the entire class! Her singing voice was so amazing and gothic and sexxy like a cross between Gerard, Joel, Chester, Pierre and Marilyn Manson (AN: don’t u fink dos guyz r so hot. if u dnot no who dey r get da fuk out od hr!) . “OMFG.” I said after she was finished. Some fucking preps stared at us but I just stuck up my middle fingers (that were covered in black nail polish and were entwined with Diana’s now) at them. “I love you!” I said and then we started to kiss just like Hilary Duff (i fukin h8 dat bitch) and CMM in a Cinderella Story. Then we went away holding hands. Croix shouted at us but she stopped cuz everyone was clapping by how sexy we looked 2gether. Then I saw a poster saying that MCR would have a concert in Blytionbuyry right then. We looked at each other all shocked and then we went 2gether. XXXXXXXXXXXXX666XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX We ran happily to Blytoonberry. There we saw the stage where GC had played. We ran in happly. MCR were there playing ‘Helena’. I was so fucking happy! Gerard looked even sexier than he did in da pictures. Even Diana thought so, I could totally see her getting an erection but it didn’t matter cuz I knew know that we were da only true ones for eachother. I was wearing a black leather minidress and black leather platinum boots with red ripped fishnets. Diana was wearing a black baggy MCR t-shirt and black baggy pants. Anyway, we stated moshing to Helena. We frenched. We ran up 2 the front of the band to stage-dive. Suddenly, Gerard pulled off his mask. So did the others. We gasped. It wasn’t them at all. It was.,……………………….. PaUl and da parliment! “Wtf Diana im not going to a concert wid u!” I shouted angrily. “Not after what happened to me last time? Even if its MCR n u no how much I lik them” “What cause we…you know…” she gadgetted uncomfortbli cause girls don’t like to talk a bout you-know-what. “Yeah cause we you know!” I yielded in an angry voice. “We won’t do that again.” Diana promised. “This time, we’re going with an ESCORT.” “OMFG wtf/ Are you giving into the mainstream?” I asked. “So I guess ur a prep or a Christina or what now?” “NO.”she muttered loudly. “R u becoming a prep or what?” I shootd angrily. “Akoo! I’m not! Pls come with me!” Sshe fell down to her knees and started singing ‘Da world is black’ by GC to me. I was flattened cause that’s not even a single, she had memorized da lyrks just 4 me! “OK then I guess I will have to.” I said and then we frenched 4 a while and I went up 2 my room. Sucy P’oison was standing there. “Hajimemashite gurl.” she said happily (she spex Japanese so do i. dat menz ‘how do u do’ in japanese). “BTW Hannah that fucking poser got expuld. she failed al her klasses and she skepped math.” “It serves that fuking bich right.” I laughed angrily. Well anyway we where felling all deprezzed. We wutsched some goffic movies like Das niteMARE b4 xmas. “Maybe Hannah will die too.” I said. “Kawai.” Sucy P’oison shook her head enrgtically lethrigcly. “Oh yeah o have a confession after she got expuld I murdered her and den Barbara did it with her cause she’s a necphilak.” “Kawai.” I commnted happily . We talked to each other in silence for da rest uv da movie. “OH HEY BTw, im going to a concert with diana tonight in Hogsmeade with mcr.” I sed. “ I need to wear like da hotset outfit EVA.” Lotte Go’thic 666 Nightfall Nodded ENREGeticALLlY. “Omfg totally lets go shopping.” “In Hot Topic, right?” I asked, already getting out my spshcial Hot Topic Loiyalty carde. “No.” My head snaped up. ‘WHAT?” my head spuin. Or me. “Chariot.” She sed. “Let me just call our broms.” “OMFFG Chariot?” I asked quietly. “Yah I saw the map for blytonbury on his desk.” She told me. “Come on let’s go.” We were going in a few punkgoff stores SPECIALLY for the concerts in BLUYTONBURY. The salesperson was OMG HOTTER THAN GERARD EXCEPT NOT CAUSE THAT’S IMPOSSIBLE and he gave me a few dresses. “We only have these for da real goffs.” “Da real goffs?” Me and Sucy P’oison asked. “Yah u wouldn’t believe how many posers ther are in this town man! Yesterday Piceis and Finnelan tried to buy a goffic camera pouch.” He shook his head. “I dint even no they had a camera.” “OMFG NO THEIR GONNA SPY ON ME AGAIN!” I cried, running out of the changing room wearing a long black dress with lots of red tulle coming out and very low-cut with a huge slit. “Oh my satan you have to buy that outfit” The salesperson said. “Yeah it looks totlly hot.” Said Lotte Go’thic 666 Nightfall. “You know what I am gona give it to you free cause u look really hot in that utfit. Jasminka went away angrily. “Hey bitch you look kawaii.” she said. “Yah but not as kawaii as you.” I answered sadly cause Boobra’s really pretty and everything. She was wearing a short black corset-thingy with blood red lace on it and a blak blood-red miniskirt, leather fish-nets and black poiny boots that showed off how pale she wuz. She had a really nice body wif big bobs and everything. She was thin enouff 2 be anorexic. “So r u going 2 da concert wif Diana?” she asked. “Yah.” I said happily. “I’m gong with Diabolo (thatz Hannuah).” she anserred happily. Well anyway Duana and Diabolo came. They were both loking extremely hot and sexy and u could tell they thoufht we were ot 2. Diabolo was wearing a black t-shirt that said ‘666’ on it. She was wearing tons off makeup jus like Marylin Manson. Diana was wearing black leather pants, a gothic black GC t-shirt and black Vanss he got from da Warped tower. My take on Brawl Stars lore
GUESS WHO IS STILL ALIVE *points at its own almost dead body injured by Avengers: Endgame, Nintendo’s E3 2019, the latest Brawl Talk from Supercell and the Stranger Things 3 Final Trailer*
MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
And I brought you my own take on what is the Brawl Stars universe!
The Old West is ancient history. Welcome to the New West.
Technology got slightly advanced here. Portals to different time periods and  and alternate universes have been created and people from all over these places join the core of the New West, Brawl Town, main residence of the Brawl Games, friendly games that are being made to decide the Ultimate Brawl Stars. Main battles are 3v3 and happen in the Nameless Desert, costantly invaded by meteors, evil Robo Bandits and mysterious shrooms and drinks.
The teams are known as:
THE BANDITS: A group of gentleman thieves on friendly terms with the Junkers.
SHELLY: The leader filled with determination. Some say she has a soft spot for the town sheriff...
RICO: Former pool bot known as Ricochet who discovered his amazing aiming skills and joined Shelly. Lost his original body in a Robo Rumble and received a new one from the Junkers.
BROCK: Gamer from the modern age who stole a rocket launcher from an evil corporation and came into Brawl Town in search of adventure.
THE JUNKERS: A family of redheads who re-use metal junk to build turrets and other robots.
COLT: Only male of the family, Sheriff of Brawl Town with an obsession with his pretty face. Unlike his family he is more of a guns guy.
JESSIE: Colt’s younger sister with a passion for pets, to the point she named her own dog-themed turret Scrappy.
PAM: Leader of the family and a real mama bear. Touch her sons and you’re in for a bad time.
THE PIRATES: A robot pirate crew from overseas who came to Brawl Town for one thing and only one thing: MONEY.
PENNY: A pirate captain who is very good at building robots and cannons, to the point she built her own crew. She is quite competitive and a bit arrogant. Hates Jessie for some reason.
BARRYL: Formerly a barrel filled with gunpowder, Penny built this silent but deadly guy and, therefore, he stays loyal to her and her only.
TICK: Formerly a giant cannon, he was turned by Penny into a metal ball of energy and happiness. He is always with his explosive head in the clouds and loves mines. Some even describe him as a “Pirate Spike” because of his personality.
THE UNDEAD: A group made of vampires, monsters and undead beings. They are on friendly terms with the Mysterious Ones.
MORTIS: A mysterious vampire known as the Bringer of Doom, who is able to resurrect the dead...often with unexpected results (see his comrades). He his quite self-centered and a bit evil, but is still loved by his team and friends.
FRANK: The one time that Mortis tried to use technology instead of his magic to resurrect an undead body, it turned into Frank, an unstoppable, brainless beast...who seems friendly and at ease when listening music.
POCO: Usually when Mortis resurrects people they are under his control. While trying to resurrect a musician who lost all of his fans, somehow, the mind control didn’t work, so Poco has free will. While he bears no ill will towards his teammates (helps Frank with his musical condition and tries to find friends for Mortis), he lives with the Junkers and has more of a relationship with them.
THE LEATHER JACKETS: A group of thugs from Retropolis, a town south of Brawl Town, who give to every challenger they come across the sweetest pain. But they aren’t actually evil.
BULL: Leader of the Leather Jackets and owner of a diner in Retropolis, Bull Blanco has anger issues and LOVES shotguns and football.
CROW: A mysterious bird man who came from nowhere in the Brawl Stars universe who asks for respect and respect only. Even if he is edgy, he is a nice guy who taught Leon his ninja ways. (Spoiler: He is actually an alien sent to study the BS universe by his species who created the Robo Bandits and conquer it from the inside, but now he loves this world and has sworn to protect it. Probably explains why Robo Bandits aremore aggressive towards him.)
BIBI: A girl from Retropolis, who is a bit childish but is brutal with her bat, properly named Mr. Bat. Before Crow arrived she was Bull’s only friend (and crush, but don’t tell her otherwise he’d kill you)
THE TRIBE: The name speaks for itself. What is left of the Indians in the world of the New West.
NITA: A girl with lots of energy and ability in fighting who received from her guardian a gift to protect her: the necklace that summons her inner animal spirit, the Big Baby Bear, to protect her at all costs. Has a crush on her foster sibling.
BO: Leader of the Tribe, who highly believes in the spirits and combines old with new by mixing his unstoppable archery skills with mines crafted by Dynamike. He is very serious and has a strong sense of justice.
LEON: Orphaned at a young age, this kid with a chameleon hoodie from the modern world came into the New West, received ninja lessons from Crow and, thanks to his new family made of Bo and Nita, he learned how to become invisible.
THE MINERS: A squad made of two miners and a bartender who highly specialize in searching gems.
DYNAMIKE: Also known as Old Mike, this former miner is not only good at building robots but also has pyromania and always has a short fuse. The bird in his head is called Birdy by him.
CARL: A knows-it-all robot miner with a childish personality, great ability in throwing his pickaxe, and a love for geology, horrible geology puns and Jessie.
BARLEY: Mike’s first robot, built when he was still a miner to serve him some moonshine. Time passes by and his circuits started fusing,so now he became a Brawler to recieve money to fix all damages done in his bar at Brawl Town.
THE MYSTERIOUS ONES: No one knows who they are or where they came from. They were reunited by their leader to fight in the Brawls.
TARA: A mysterious tarot card reader literally coming from the shadows, but no one knows that...except for Gene, probably.
GENE: A childish genie who came out from a rebellious lamp found by Tara. She sees Tara as his “mommy” and has a SERIOUS love for sweets and especially chocolate cakes.
SPIKE: Last member of the living catcus people, except for their sakura cactus siblings. He is shy and reserved on the outside, but cheerful and happy on the inside. He just never shows it because he is scared he might hurt someone with his, uh...hugs. Tara found him wandering in the desert alone and took him with her.
THE FIGHTERS: Two fighters and a sniper coming from around Brawl Town.
EL PRIMO: Originally a useless no one, Primo got hit by a meteor, receving superpowers and becoming the strongest wrestler in the New West. He is especially good with children and is searching for his brother, who is thought dead (and may actually be). He found him but he can’t recognize him.
ROSA: Primo’s number one fan, a botanist from the jungle west of Brawl Town who is also a boxer and is accompanied by her house plant. She is quite smart and built a lab in the jungle.
PIPER: The Belle of the Brawl herself, Piper de la Prim is usually a lone wolf who grew up learning how to use her umbrella gun and the proper manners. Since all teams were filled, she diced to join the Fighters.
THEIR THEME SONGS
THE BANDITS: Shot Me Down by David Guetta featuring Skylar Grey. It was more of a choice from Shelly and Brock
THE JUNKERS: The Good, The Bad and the Ugly, personally chosen by Colt
THE PIRATES: He’s a Pirate by Hans Zimmer. Darryl hates it though.
THE UNDEAD: Thriller by Micheal Jackson, even though Poco prefers Remember Me by Miguel
THE LEATHER JACKETS: They are still undecided. Bull says it should be Wake Me Up Before You Go Go by Wham!, Crow says it’s In the End by Linkin Park and Bibi says it’s Karate by BABYMETAL
THE TRIBE: Nita forced them to choose Great Spirits by Tina Turner, not that Bo minded that anyway.
THE MINERS: Carl ironically proposed Heigh Ho (the one from the Seven Dwarfs). Dynamike unironically chose that.
THE MYSTERIOUS ONES: Gene asked for Friend Like Me by Robin Williams and since they didn’t have any other ideas (and he made a puppy face) they just went with it.
THE FIGHTERS: Rosa wanted to use Eye of the Tiger by Survivor but Primo just kept saying the Guile Theme was suited enough, and even Piper liked that. So they chose the best of both worlds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edPUrkEf_ow
SKINS BACKSTORIES
BANDITA SHELLY: Her self from a dark future in which the Robo Bandits destroyed Brawl Town.
STAR SHELLY: She became a gamer after suggestions from Brock.
PANDA NITA: She usually wears that necklace on Halloween.
HOLIDAY SKINS: They come from the Brawlidays Universe.
SHIBA NITA: In another JP-based universe, she is a normal schoolgirl that summons a bear-shaped shiba to fight bad guys. So kawaii!
ROCKSTAR COLT: Karaoke Night on Friday is a big deal for Colt so he always prepares for the best.
IMPERIAL AGENT COLT: In the same JP-based universe from where Shiba Nita hails, he is literally an imperial agent.
OUTLAW COLT: Hails from the same universe as Bandita Shelly.
VIKING BULL: He dressed up as a viking on Halloween and he even customized the shotgun.
QUARTERBACK/LINEBACKER BULL: Did we mention that Bull LOVES football? Sometimes he even calls it Footbull.
DRAGON KNIGHT JESSIE: They say she hails from a “Royal Clash” universe or something like that. ;)
SUMMER JESSIE/BROCK: They just prepared for summer, that’s all.
BOOM BOX BROCK: His attire back when he lived in the modern world.
LION DANCE BROCK: Sidekick of Imperial Agent Colt.
HOT ROD BROCK: His attire when he took a vacation in Retropolis.
CHEF MIKE: He is quite the bad chef, but he makes it up with his knowledge of spicy peppers.
ROBO MIKE: Comes from the same future as of Outlaw Colt and Bandita Shelly. The problem was an incident with the Robo Bandits. He doesn’t talk about it. Birdy is all that is left of his former self, and even then, he pilots him.
MECHA BO AND MECHA CROW : They got roboticized after a bad incident with the Robo Bandits in the Outlaw Universe (the one from which Robo Mike hails too). Colro variations are made by them to make themselves look cooler. They are what is left of the official Brawl Stars tournament members, the others kidna cut the ties with the “sport”.
EL RUDO: Primo’s darker self who manifested in the Outlaw Universe as a collateral effect of the meteor who hit him and gave him his powers.
EL REY: For special occasions in the battlefield, Primo wears this attire.
GOLDEN BARLEY: Back when he was still a fresh model, Barley used to look like this.
WIZARD BARLEY: You know it.
BAKE SALE BARLEY: In what was the worst moment of his whole life, he worked at Bull’s diner and was forced by Bull to wear that.
MAPLE SYRUP BARLEY: The guy once went to Canada. Canada changed him. Now he loves maple syrup.
SERENADE POCO: He once helped Colt trying to serenade Shelly. It ended with lots of spare shotguns being thrown at them.
LOADED RICO: Back when he was a pool bot, rich people used Rico to store gems. He HATES that.
POPCORN RICO: He also worked at Brawl Town’s cinema for a month or so. He got a popcorn addiction and got fired.
DUMPLING DARRYL: From the universe in which Colt and Brock are secret agents, he is a robot who loves dumplings and supports them in their secret missions.
BUNNY PENNY: During Easter, a prank war between Jessie and her was ongoing. She received a lesson by getting her outfit and cannon modified after hanging Scrappy upside down.
ROAD RAGE CARL: To try to look cool for the Leather Jackets he started dressing up like this. His Outlaw Universe counterpart keeps wearing it.
CAVEMAN FRANK: He dressed up liek this on Halloween.
ROCKABILLY MORTIS: Karaoke Night on Friday is a serious thing for Mortis too.
TOP HAT MORTIS: He once wore a hat that is now lost in time and space.
NIGHT WITCH MORTIS: Mortis once exchanged bodies with a Night Witch from Clash Royale. It was all her fault though.
SAKURA SPIKE: She comes from a similar species to that of Spike, made by sakura catuses. She hails from the same unvierse as Shiba Nita and the Lunar New Year skins.
WHITE CROW: A condition that Crow has is that in the winter he turns his feathers white.
PHONEIX CROW: Crow’s true form.
WEWWWWWWWWWWWW ABOUT DAMN TIME I FINISHED
STICK A FORK IN ME, I’M DOOONE

Help for a Date
Diana was content that Saturday morning. It was the weekend, she had a cup of her favorite tea and some snacks at hand, and she was surrounded by study material, the smell of old books and parchment in the air comforting. Hannah and Barbara had made plans to go on a shopping trip in Blytonbury, just the two of them, and Diana had been more than happy to assure them that she was fine staying at Luna Nova. She didn’t want to be a third wheel for the two of them, she had thought but did not say. She was also enjoying the peace and quiet that came with solitude.
And so it came as something of a surprise when someone knocked on the door to the blue team dorm room with three sharp raps. Diana frowned in confusion as she leaned back in her chair, looking behind her and around the bookcase, into the main room. Just who could that be?
Then three more knocks sounded, followed quickly by a voice that she recognized immediately. “Daiyanaaa!” came Akko’s muffled voice through the door. “I need your help!”
Diana smiled softly at that as she got up out of her chair and made her way to the door. Akko had come a very long way, and while certainly not the best witch in this second year of her schooling at Luna Nova, she was far from being the worst. Diana rather liked to think that her own influence on the Japanese witch played a large part in said improvement. But one thing for certain, if Akko asked for her help, her help she would receive. And so she opened the door, but whatever greeting she had died on her lips as she got a good look at her dearest friend.
Akko was dressed up, and was wearing a pretty floral sundress, the simple charm of the garment suiting her. Modest jewelry added to the look, a bracelet, necklace, and earrings gracing her body, and perhaps it was the light application of makeup that threw Diana off the most.
No, wait, that was most certainly a fallacy. It was Akko’s unbound hair that flustered the normally reserved British witch, warm chestnut locks framing Akko’s face and resting against her shoulders drawing a blush to Diana’s face, and instead of the warm greeting she had been planning, all she could manage was an almost croaked query: “Akko?”
Akko’s face split into a wide, pleased grin. “Oh, good, you were in here! I thought you were, and figured you’d be able to help me! I’m getting ready for a date, and was able to do everything except braid my hair, and Lotte is hanging out with Frank today and frankly I’m too scared to ask Sucy to help and Amanda would totally do something dirty if I got her to help but then I remembered that you were going to be staying at school this morning and so I knew that you’d be the best chance for help!”
Diana blinked, feeling slightly barraged by the words, and damned if her heart didn’t sink a little at the thought of Akko getting ready for a date. A date with whom? Andrew? The two of them had been getting fairly chummy lately, even more so than they were last year. Or perhaps Amanda’s claims about her gaydar pegging Akko as a lesbian or bi was right, and she was going to go on a date with a fellow student. Schooling her features carefully, Diana opened the door wide and gestured for Akko to enter, which the Japanese witch immediately did, fairly flouncing in to the room, bright and cheerful and full of life, and another stab of jealousy pricked Diana’s heart. Whoever had caught Akko’s attention was very lucky indeed. “Please, sit anywhere,” she said, voice almost wooden, and Akko shot her a concerned look before her bright expression returned.
“Hai!” she chirped, and promptly sat down. Biting her lip as she came up behind Akko, Diana wove her fingers through Akko’s long brown hair, reveling in the feel of silken locks against her fingers. Now you’ve done it, she mourned. You waited too long and now someone else has taken her from you. With that rather melancholy thought, she set to work, plaiting Akko’s hair in one of her favorite braids, all while Akko merrily chatted about how much fun today was going to be and how she couldn’t wait for the date to begin, and Diana couldn’t help but keep her replies rather monosyllabic, even as jealousy and longing buffeted her heart.
Then, all too soon, she was done, and she sighed so softly that Akko wouldn’t be able to hear it as she rested her fingertips against Akko’s shoulder. “All done,” she said, voice soft, and Akko quickly bounced to her feet, and she made her way over to the mirror.
Upon seeing her reflection, she gasped, fingers playing with the intricate braid. “Kawaii!” she said before turning a beaming smile on Diana. “It’s so pretty, Diana! Arigatou!”
Diana had picked up enough Japanese from her friend to understand the thanks, and she smiled in return. “It was no issue, I assure you.” Then silence came to the both of them, Akko smiling at her, and it wasn’t long before Diana was shifting, slightly uncomfortable. For all Akko’s talk about being excited for the date, Diana had expected her to almost immediately give her farewells before leaving to meet up with whoever the lucky person was, not just stay in Diana’s room, staring at her. Finally, after nearly a minute had passed with Akko not saying anything or making a move towards the door, Diana cleared her throat. “Akko...aren’t you going to go on your date?” she asked, voice gentle and rather successfully hiding the pain in her heart.
Akko laughed. “Well, you have to get ready first, unless you want to go in your school uniform!”
Diana blinked at that. If she were one of Constanze’s stanbots, an error message would have most certainly popped over her head. As it was, she could only manage to say a single word. “What?”
Akko bounced over to her, seizing her hands in her own, beaming up at her with a million watt smile that was only enhanced by her prettied up appearance, and Diana couldn’t help the blush that was steadily rising across her cheeks. “Diana, the date is with you! I figured you would put my hair in the style you would most like to see!”
Diana licked her lips, the blush now quite heavy on her face, deepening still further as she noticed how Akko’s eyes flicked down to her lips when she licked them. “Is this a dream?” she asked, almost distantly. Oh, how terribly heartbroken she would be if this were but a dream!
Then, to her immense surprise, Akko leaned close, standing up on her toes, brushing her lips against Diana’s in a brief kiss that sent jolts through Diana’s body. Then Akko was flat on her feet again, peering up through her eyelashes at Diana, and both of them had to be as red as tomatoes with how hard they were blushing. “It doesn’t feel like a dream to me,” Akko murmured, and Diana huffed out a shocked laugh.
“No. No it doesn’t. I’ll, umm, I’ll get ready now,” she said, unable to keep the giddy, beaming smile from her face as she turned and headed back towards her side of the room.
And could anyone blame her for discretely pinching her side as she walked, just to make absolutely certain that this wasn’t just a dream?
Good news. It wasn’t.

for the end of year meme: 1, 8, 10, 14, 20 !! Please and thank you!
OH MAH GOD IT’S LATE!!! (I am so sorry @nalufever I finally got around to answering asks and I’m starting with the most recent ones!! It’s appropriate as they are for the “End of the year” meme I reblogged!)
Anyways, without further ado, let’s answer these lovely questions~! >w
1. First things first, did you have a good year?
Tumblr media
A: Well, I guess that is the first thing to ask when jumping from one year to the other! ^_^ If I’m being honest the year started out really bad. Lots of family problems, stress from college and my horrible relationship was weighing me down and draining me of my energy. I never want to blame anything on anyone, but I was in a dysfunctional relationship with someone and I finally got out of it around April. It’s a long story, but I don’t feel like dwelling on that stuff. I’m stronger now! (I mean I “hope” so ^ ^;) I was happy that I got in the honours roll for my first year which gave me entry to showing my artwork to judges at the college I got to! It was an amazing experience and I made some cool friends along the way! It’s a small class, but we’re like a family. :D As for my actual family, I lost my grandma…She was an inspiration to me and even today I will always show my appreciation for my grandparents! Other than that, my family had gotten better and we can finally understand each other a bit more when it comes to communication which is always a plus!! :3 Even on here with Tumblr being who it is, I still have lots of friends that didn’t leave and I’m happy to see they are better from last year! In short, (cause you can see THIS is a paragraph xD) I think the year was wishy-washy! It was all over the place, but it made up for it at the end to be called “good”. ^v^
8. Which fashion trends did you hate?
Tumblr media
(I thought of him when I thought of the word fashion xD Don’t kill me, I LOVE Max
A: Even though my mom is a lady who lives by fashion, I can’t say I know the styles of 2018! ;w; I looked up a source (well you know Vogue and all that jazz :/) to base my opinion on. I only think this would be easier if I could say what I “loved”, but it’s a hate one so gotta be mean xD lol. I mean I never “hate” anything, so I’m gonna give it a shot.
One thing I don’t like about fashion trends if I’m being frank is that it’s usually clothes on the runway. Many styles I see based on Vogue’s source are styles I can’t see the everyday person wearing. Personally, I wouldn’t wear half of those designs outside. That’s just me. My sense of style is a hybrid of my mom’s fashion she wears/sells, 80′s-90′s fashions and cutesy outfits. (that I think I’d look bad in ;w;) I’m gonna give a small bullet point list. (I know I always say small xD)
Arty Impressions - This was the first one on the article I read. From what I can gather it’s fashion with famous works printed on it. (Artworks, for example, Andy Warhol’s, screenprints) I mean I can see the connection, but for me wearing something with a reproduced art piece is hard for me to personally wear. LIke it has to be done like how T-shirts have a design in the middle or small embellishments on it to make me wear it. The example I saw is fun and creative, but for me, I couldn’t see myself liking/wearing those pieces. It depends. 5/10? I guess xD
Plastic/see-through material - This honestly has been a reoccurring style that I have seen. It’s become more prominent now according to last year’s trends. I can’t stand the “see-through” look. I don’t know what it is, but it’s just too awkward to wear outside. LIke people will defend that you can wear what you want, but for ME and ME Only, I can’t wear those kinds of stuff. I would feel very scared/concerned with how I look. (Even to myself) If you don’t know what I am referring to, I mean like that umbrella looking material. (I’ve added the source in the paragraph above for this question! ^_^)
Geometric/Flannel Print - I can never see myself liking the flannel scene. For pyjamas, no problem! To wear outside, I can’t bring myself to do that. You can see me in an old sweater, but flannel I don’t think any of my friends have seen me in that xD I just can’t say it’s aesthetically pleasing to me. I have a problem liking this style. Maybe I will when I get older, but as I’m young and creative I see myself wearing clothes for the young generation! :P (my mom says that anyways xD lol) The clothes that make you feel like partying, even though you don’t go outside like me xD lol
As much as I love talking about fashion, I think I would bore everyone with my opinions. xD (You’re definitely not here for these are you? xD If so, thank you)
10. What song sums up this year for you?
Tumblr media
A: I don’t have a definite answer, but I went through a lot of things. Many times I wanted to be in a dream world…Like to escape everything. All the pain and depression. I still feel that way, but in 2018 it was WAY worse. This song I originally heard in Silent Hill: Downpour (A GAME I LOVE ;w;) was a song I thought of when I see this question. I think it’s a great song! sad, but I’d recommend it. The singer’s voice is lovely. It invokes so many emotions in me ;w; (I’ll give a youtube link)
Ed Harcourt - From Every Sphere
14. Favorite new TV show?
Tumblr media
(I HAD to make it this guy >w
WARNING: HUGE ANSWER BELOW!
A: Well, as you may know, I don’t watch many shows anymore. I mostly play video games, but for the sake of this amazing question, I’ll say what anime(s) I did enjoy last year! I don’t think I’ve ever loved an anime as much as I love Gintama. It’s really funny because I originally “disliked” Gintama. It was a naive thing for the young me to have said at the time. I judged the show so harshly after seeing anime (IMO) being shat on with the usual themes and scenes I ALWAYS see. I began to give up on anime as a whole. My story starts when I was pissed at my brother telling me, “Gintama is amazing Tash, trust me you’ll regret hating it.” I answered with my normal response of, “ sure Ja, you ALWAYS say that. How will this be any different?” Maybe I shouldn’t have said that…Well, it’s too late now for present-day me. My brother showed me all the “humorous” parts first. (I honestly felt like he tricked me, but the show really starts that way xD) Anyways, we eventually watched a few episodes and I told him I didn’t understand the humour. (it’s honestly hard to get into if you’re not open-minded or don’t understand the comedy Sorachi uses) Until he decided to hit me with his ace, “The Shinsengumi Crisis Arc”. All I can say is, a different side of me was born. I started to see what a show could truly offer if it was done right, the way I wanted to see it. It’s hard to explain, but without Gintama’s sad/inspirational/happy/stupid/clever story writing/arcs I don’t think I would have ever gotten through 2018. I haven’t finished the episodes as of its recent update, but I really learned a lot from the show. I want to give a HUGE shoutout to Sorachi for writing this masterpiece and I would 10000% recommend it to ANYONE! It’s a show that changed my views on people’s situations and lives. I think all the arcs are amazingly written and so far I don’t think I’ll ever get bored of it! It really got me in the feels. I can honestly say that if you can’t feel after seeing an arc in Gintama, you haven’t felt. It’s that amazing! (Then AGAIN, it’s an opinion not everyone will sadly share xD) Also, I am really enjoying Bleach! I’m sad at how it ended in terms of what things happened and I honestly hope Kubo will be ok. I loved his episodes and the earliest ones really touched my heart like Gintama. He’s also really great at making me cry every episode! :P
(GOD SORRY FOR THE ESSAY AND STUPID STORY LINES xD I’m sorry I can’t add a RM for this b/c then everything under can’t be seen like the other answers ;w;)
20. Did you develop a new obsession?
Tumblr media
Well…YES! Many obsessions!! The real question is which is the one that I obsess over the most? Well I’ll put some bullet points to hopefully make it smaller xD
First of all, I don’t want to say it but I’ve taken a “liking” (what an understatement lol) to Gin Ichimaru from Bleach~! >////
I think everyone knows, but I have an obsession with cute/pink/pretty stuff. (Can it be called that?) I just LOVE pastel colours or pinks/blues/purples. Those kinds of soft colours you see in Hello Kitty toys or Fairy Kei/Kawaii merch (if I’m correct xD) I just have a HUGE soft spot for childhood stuff! I literally still act like a kid xD lol I don’t think I’ll be growing up anytime soon haha xD lol I just love to collect them! :)
Vaporwave I guess has become a new obsession and old art styles of the past! I just can’t stop being in awe at those marble statues! The curvature and bodies are so magnificent! >w
So many different art styles that are brought to this world! :D This is the truth! I absolutely love most styles I see on here and whenever I encounter them! >w
Other than that, I don’t think I have any other obsessions I know about :P Sorry, I’m super boring xD That’s the art student life lol (only me guys xD dw)
Tumblr media

What if I just started my own shitty “clothing” line which is nothing but like cute kawaii wrestling designs and dad hats in like pastels and shit. Like the most girly and cute merch ever. Almost like Harajuku/Lisa Frank meets pro wrestling? How much of a bad idea is that in reality? I don’t see why wrestling has to be just the generic or badass dude kind of stuff. I like to subvert expectations when it comes to things like this.

the beach was beautiful.
kuroo always liked the water and the salty, cool air spraying over his heated skin. he welcomed the bright sun and seagulls overhead — a welcome change from the tense atmosphere of the house.
ever since the dinner sakusa, atsumu, bokuto, and kenma had thrown for you, meiko had been more... irritable than usual.
it was like kuroo couldn’t say or do anything right — it was always, “go away kuroo, i’m busy,” and, “fuck off, i don’t want your perfectly homemade fudge brownies.”
kuroo took a deep breath of fresh air, the sound of people laughing echoing in the distance as he fell back into thought.
meiko just wasn’t the same as she was when he’d originally met her. he had first seen her in the window of one of his favorite cafés with this faraway look in her eyes — like she belonged somewhere else.
as cheesy as it was, kuroo was enamored by her, love at first sight if you will. he’d never believed in it before, instead choosing to depend on science to explain how people found someone compatible enough to spend the rest of their lives with.
but with her... it was different.
there was no explanation, no chemicals releasing, just meiko. she was everything he wanted and more and even though he had to fight 10 other men to get to her, he was happy with what little part of her he had.
at least up until recently.
he loved her, he was almost sure of that but... seeing bokuto and even kenma, two of his closest friends, leave meiko behind had him thinking that maybe, just maybe, something was up.
the van ride was even more enlightening. he’d sat all the way in the back beside bokuto, with you and atsumu in the row in front of them and sakusa and kenma in the driver’s and passenger’s seats.
you had asked if you could have the aux after a few minutes of awkward silence and of course, sakusa agreed. your playlist was eclectic, filled with anything and everything, from frank sinatra to tame impala to nct and you sang out every single song with so much bravado that everyone in that car had a smile on their face.
it was strange. meiko had continuously spouted about how horrible and cruel you were but like this? kuroo couldn’t have even imagined that the stories she told were about you.
now, he felt he was at a bit of a crossroads. kuroo hadn’t hung out with meiko in what felt like months and his connection with her was all but gone. on the other hand, there was you who he’d had maybe one real conversation with but his friends seemed to trust you.
kuroo let out a loud groan, running a hand through his hair with his face turned towards the sun. all this thinking was giving him a headache. maybe he should go to the cabana to get a drink.
as he trudged through the sand towards the rest of the group, he spotted you holding your phone with a concerned look written on your face.
kuroo’s brows furrowed as he studied you type furiously before bolting to the rooms. he couldn’t stop his reactionary movements as he raced after you through the hotel building and to what was looking like... bokuto’s room?
his footsteps slowed down as he gradually came closer to the doorway, eyes slowly trailing over kenma, sakusa, and atsumu standing outside worriedly while you gently crept into the room.
“i- i can’t, please,” bokuto’s quiet whimpers could be heard in the all throughout the narrow hall, your pacifying comments only barely drowning them out.
at the sound of his friend’s distress, kuroo pushed through the group until he was standing right in front of the two of you, bokuto sitting on the floor with tears streaming down his face and you, holding his hand on your chest as you took exaggerated deep breaths.
despite him having followed you all the way here, meiko’s warnings began to echo through his mind. “what the fuck did you do?” he muttered.
you chose to ignore him, instead continuing to talk bokuto down from his apparent panic attack. kuroo opened his mouth to protest again when kenma’s small hand found its way on his chest and pushed him out the room.
“what the hell kenma? what did yn do to him?” he asked indignantly. kenma rolled his eyes and pulled him further away from bokuto until they were both back out on the beach.
kenma sighed, turning his face towards the sky as he debated on what to say. “yn is helping him, ok?” the younger boy muttered, his eyes fixed on the clouds above.
kuroo scoffed at shook his head. “then why was bokuto on the ground in tears? hm? meiko always said—“
“shut up, meiko doesn’t know shit,” kenma spat, sharp eyes narrowing menacingly. kuroo felt the familiar wave of confusion overtake him as he studied his old friend.
the hurt, anger, and rage was ever present in his golden irises, showing that meiko must have done something so horrible, so egregious that kenma couldn’t forgive her.
kuroo wanted to know what it was — he missed his friend and, truth be told, he’d been neglecting his platonic relationships since meiko had come into the picture.
he needed to know what kenma and bokuto had gone through, if it was the last thing he did. he wanted his friends back, now.

Start album as soon as foot leaves far porch side
Try to estimate based on location and remaining album time when I should start walking home. Aim for album ending as soon as I get back
If album ends early, restart it and listen to the first couple tracks or so but at a very low background volume
Remember to check for invalid tracks

Cutie Reviews: Kawaii Box Jan 19
Here I am with another Kawaii Box review!
To be honest, after my concerns and small-annoyances with the Blippo order I got, I feel like my opinions on Kawaii Box have altered a little. On one hand, I appreciate how much effort they put into it and I like the surprise of never knowing what to expect- but on the other... I don’t know, the blippo order sort of left a bad taste.
I also came to a decision. This month I plan on checking out the Japan Crate online store and see what they have. If I find enough I like I’ll be making a purchase from them and see how that goes.
Tumblr media
Word of the month: Fuyu - Winter
Okay, so first I’ll be showing a DIY candy we got for this month. I’m pretty excited because this is a new one that was released sometime last year I believe, and I’ve never tried it before.
Tumblr media
As usual I’ll be covering this in a separate post, so look forward to that ;3
Praise Stamp Set
Tumblr media
Our first item (ironically I took this one last) is a cute set of “praise dog“ stamps. I think these might be one of those “dollar store” items, which you can usually tell due to the quality of the box. As soon as I went to open it, it ripped so I’ll probably throw away the box and find a container to put these in.
I couldn’t find these or anything like them on Blippo, but they did have some other stamp sets. This specific one features a cute pink ink pad and 5, wood block stamps featuring cute little phrases and images.
Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
Well, besides the cute color the ink pad uses, I think the stamps are adorable. They would be perfect for little notes or papers, and 3 out of the 5 would be great to share with friends or others (I say that because the other two have asian writing on them). But for a “praise“ theme I’m not sure what tea has to do with it..
The stamps also work, and of course you could use them with other ink pads too, which is why I think stamps are kind of fun x3 they’re very versatile; I loved using them to make pictures when I was little.
Animal Spray Bottle
Tumblr media
Our next item... to be frank, I don’t think would be ideal during winter if you would try to use it in cold environments or when outside- but outside of winter it’d be great!
Back when I first started to get these boxes, one of the first few items I saw was a cute little spray bottle. I used it for a good while afterwards, simply putting water in it to use during summer. A little misting on the head and you’ll feel a lot cooler. But you could also use it for perfume, toner, pretty much anything liquidy.
On Blippo.com, this is available in 4 different colors/animals for $2.90. They also have the old one I got on there for $3.50.
Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
Besides being cute I think something like this is pretty helpful; especially if you feel hot or sticky. Spritzing yourself with a mist of water is very cooling~
The lid also stays on nice and tight, so I’m sure you wouldn’t have to worry about it coming loose and then getting the product all over yourself or items.
Moomin Plush
Tumblr media
Our next item is this cute hand-sized Moomin plush. It is a bean-bag plush, and not only is it cuddly, but it can be attached to various items with it’s matching ball chain, or attached to things with the included suction cup.
This is available on Blippo for $5.90
Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
Besides a small section of its tail that’s a bit... weird, the stitching and detail is very nice. He’s very cute and soft too, and I like the versatility of how you can use it.
Tofu Squishy Charm
Tumblr media
I love tofu squishies~ they’re so cute and soft, and this one is so little and adorable, I can’t get over it! Anyone who likes to collect squishy has at least one of these, whether you think it’s tofu or a marshmallow; or in this case an ice cube.
With the included strap you can bring this little sweetie around with you or just remove it and plop it somewhere you would need some stress relief.
You can find these in a variety of colors on Blippo, each $1.33
Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
It’s very soft and mushy-squishy, it’s maybe a 6-7 out of 10 in terms of rising speed. It’s slow but it’s not a satisfying slow rise, but if you’re like me and don’t care about that then I think it’s just slow enough to keep quickly squeezing.
The only problem I see with it is the fact it’s “lining/trim“ is very messy, which you can see in the pic. This is an easy fix with an execto knife or scissors though.
Dessert Sticker Set
Tumblr media
Next up is this adorable set of sweets-themed stickers. You get a 30 count, a couple of each of the items shown above, with 2 of the very large sticker. On Blippo besides this set, there are sets of strawberry, sweet breakfast, and ice cream desserts, each one costing $2.90
The stickers appear to have a shimmery, semi-metallic finish and gold, shiny detailing to ensure they will catch attention wherever you use them. The page doesn’t mention it, but I also detected a scent while observing these. I’m not sure if it was the stickers or the packaging, but it’s a light, sweet aroma~
Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
You can’t really say much about stickers- but I really like these! Being the sweets addict I am, these are right up my alley. The quality and detail is really pretty, especially when you compare them to the sticker sheets -in which I usually find little errors- and I wish we got these types more often.
Korean Tape Set
Tumblr media
Anyone whose been around here will probably recognize this setup. This is probably the third set of these we’re getting (but it’s a bit different looking than usual), and this time the tapes seem to be more... decorative in inspiration in comparison to the flashier, bright colored tapes I’ve gotten before. But we’re getting a variety: 2 colorful patterns, 2 England and America inspired, and 2 elegant floral.
The tape dispenser is the same as always though.
You can find this set and others on Blippo for $2.90.
Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
I do enjoy deco tapes and I love collecting swatches/samples of them to unwind a little now and then, but I tend to get a little tired of these specific ones. However, in saying that I actually really liked this set! The tapes rip very cleanly and the tape dispenser works the best out of the 3 I’ve had so far. I like the mix of themes too, because I feel like this set could be really versatile in use.
Hungry Whale Hole Punch
Tumblr media
This box has been really working on the feels, because when I was little another item I liked to collect and play with was decorative, cutesy hole punches. I still have them somewhere in my bedroom but I don’t really do anything with them anymore. If I did you can bet I would be purchasing the rest of the collection, also $2.90 a piece on Blippo.
There are 6 different colors, each with at least 4 different possible designs (like mine has a snowflake, fish bones, a teddy bear, and a star). It was pretty lucky that the one I got has a snowflake, given the theme right~?
Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
Besides being the most precious thing I saw in this box, it also works as you can see.
Candy Highlighters
Tumblr media
Our last 2 items are (ironically) a packet of highlighters, and a pen. If you saw my Blippo.com review then I just recently bought some highlighters- but they were different shapes. Although I also do possess some like these, but they are scented and have bright pattern designs.
Meanwhile this pack isn’t scented, and they have a nice pastel color scheme. On Blippo the set is $3.90
Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
They work perfectly fine, the colors are much more neon and bright than their outside makes them look.
Our other item is this adorable Cardcaptor Sakura pen, available in either pale pink or white. Each pen is $2.90. As I grew up a big fan of Cardcaptor, I was really excited to see this x3 maybe we’ll get sailor moon pens soon~
If you like Cardcaptor they also have wand and stand sets you can buy on Blippo, but they’re kind of expensive...
Rating: ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥
The pen is a bit top-heavy, but i didn’t have any problem with writing using it. It writes very well and is a fine tip; if anything I’m a little disappointed there’s no where to put the cap while using it due to the ornamental top. I also noticed it’s a slow dryer. It’s been more than 10 minutes since I tried using it and when I rubbed my finger over it, it smeared a bit and it was very lightly on my finger.
♥ Cutie Ranking ♥
Content - ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ We got 10 items this time, and while it’s heavily stationery dominated again I’m much more fond of these items compared to the previous box. I’m not sure if it’s because they were a bit sentimental for me, or if I just responded better to them. They all work and were good, even if it they had a few, tiny itty-bitty nitpicks there was nothing to ruin anything for me.
Theme - ♥ Uh... I’m sorry but no. I see no sign of winter on this except for the cover art and whale hole punch I got; and only because it has a snowflake hole. There was a large chance I wouldn’t even get that one, so it’s not a guaranteed item.
Total Rank: 6 out of 10 Cuties. I loved the items, they were all cute and they work well- some better than others obviously. There was a handful of “nit-picks” I had which also plays a small part in rating this, I just think they failed in terms of the theme of this months specific box...
♥ Cutie Scale ♥
1. Hungry Whale Hole Punch - It’s so cute!! I love to just stroke it and think of it like an adorable little baby whale~
2. Squishy Tofu - it’s so sweet and squishy~
3. Dessert Stickers - They’re so shiny! I love them!
4. Animal Spray Bottle - It’s pretty simple, but sometimes it works. Here it has a gentle, pastel aesthetic, and the lid is pretty cute.
5. Tape Set - As I already said, I enjoyed the versatility with the different designs. It’s nice if you don’t want to buy a huge amount of different deco tapes and have something little to carry them in. The dispenser was the best out of the ones I’ve tried so far.
6. Moomin Plush - I want to snuggle it~
7. Stamp Set - It’s very cute and little, I love the pink ink!
8. Cardcaptor Sakura Pen - As much as I love the anime/manga-based item and this series, I wasn’t in love with the pen, even though the detail was nice and it was a fine tip like how I like.
9. Candy Highlighters - I like the pearly pastel coloring, I kind of wish the ink was the same though cause I think I have enough highlighters in this style already.
Alrighty cuties :3 here we are, at the end of another review~ I’m so excited, because next up will be an ultra-fun DIY kit and Tokyo Treat! Until next time, remember to open up a box of cuteness every day~
