The thing about me being so frickin obsessed with luffy and zoro's relationship is that... i just think they really are that compatible and perfect for each other in a way that they just, makes sense 

Like yeah i think one or two ships involving zoro and luffy (other than zolu/luzo) are cute or at least ok, but like the amount of love i have for them is like dust compared to my love for zolu:"D And if i'm being reallyy honest, personally i can't really imagine zoro being with someone else that's not luffy IF luffy is present in his life and vice versa?, like for example i think *insert other luffy ship* is cute, but like zoro can't be present in luffy's life for that ship to actually work for me?? So it's gotta be an alternative universe where they don't meet... I can appreciate the fanarts of the other luffy and zoro ships though, as long as they are not insanely wayyy too out of character?? (i just don't actively seek out content of ships that i'm not crazy about)

Not to state the obvious but luffy is my favorite character in one piece:) and right after him, unsurprisingly it's zoro (zoro used to be my number one when i was younger but now he is number two, but i'm sure zoro is fine with me loving his captain just a little bit more, haha)

When it comes to the ships involving my favorite character(s)... i am actually suuuper picky about it? i have to think very deeply about it, like i only want what's best for them, but also the best for the other person too cuz it can't be one sided! And i literally love both luffy and zoro almost equally? (actually i always love the two characters that i ship cuz i can't ship my favorite character with someone that i dislike) With zoro and luffy i've done a lot of thinking. Like, a lot. I thought about all of their potential love interests, every single one of them, but always arrived at the same conclusion that no one completes them the way they complete each other. Proof? Plz just scroll through my tumblr #zolu or #luzo i literally only talk about their relationship😭 They really are the most perfect person for each other. It's almost like they were made for each other? Everything about them, their principles, their personalites, they just fits

Like they are so insane, because at a surface level they can be interpreted as just platonic (which is a completely fine interpretation for the non zolu people out there!), but when you try to look more into it, on a deeper level, looking at every part of their interactions while considering their characterizations, motivations et cetera, like everything just clicks. Their devotion towards each other, all the little things they say and do relating to each other. They are best friends, they are the captain and the first mate, and maybe they are also something a lil bit more? Sometimes i don't even think i can label their relationship, cause from the outside… their relationship looks so simple, yet not without depth (so much depth!) and nuance. With zolu, you either get them or don't get them at all. One thing for sure is that they work really well together!!

Also, everytime i think about zolu as just friends.. but then i compare my relationship with my best friend(s) to luffy and zoro's relationship... and i don't know, if my best friend treats me the way zoro and luffy treat each other? I fear i will have to drop the "what are we?" question. I'm so serious, like that man? zoro?? He is enamored. Completely whipped- bewitched, body and soul. While on luffy's side, his way of expressing love is more subtle, but i've talked about that before here.

They say there's a thin line between love and hate... but there's also a thin line between platonic and romantic love, and maybe that's why one of my favorite tropes in ships is the one where they start out as friends... (harurin from free, bakudeku, pegoryu, fluri, soriku, cloti, cleon, kimron, percabeth, kataang, lumity, appledash, katyana, korrasami, harlivy, etc #friendstolovers ftw!)

Like luffy and zoro... The god personified and the non believer. Oda is literally so insane for that..

One is very carefree and easy to put his trust in others. And the other is the more rigid one and needs to slowly build his trust. One is the more emotional one. The other is the stoic and more composed one. They share the same values, the same braincells, they can communicate and understand each other even without having to say much.

Their colors complement each other, their zodiac signs are compatible, their personalites can be quite contrasting but they actually blend perfectly. They are different but also the same. No one makes zoro smile as much as luffy, no one else luffy likes to lean on as much as he likes to lean and rely on zoro. No one makes zoro worry as much as luffy, even though luffy himself is very strong. No one luffy trusts with his crew as much as he trusts them with zoro, and his nakama means everything to luffy. They are the happiest when they are together.. fighting side by side, laughing with each other, talking with each other... They respect and understand each other the most. They are just so insane and i am also insane and-

They are the only two strawhats with twin numbers for their birth dates and months. The only two strawhats with CoC. The only two strawhats fighting for the greatest titles (pirate king and world's greatest swordsman respectively) they are the only two strawhats with a lot of parallels (let it be between each other like the hero talk in fishman island, or with the other captains and their first mates, which i kinda(?) have talked about before, here).

Zoro's the only member of his crew that luffy actually tries to find (he doesn’t stumble upon him like how he does with the rest of the strawhats) Zoro is the first person in canon that we see luffy enthusiastically feel it's okay to share his meal with. The first person outside of his family (i consider shanks and his crew, dadan, and makino as part of his found family!) that he cries and worries for (baratie arc). Zoro is the first person that he mentions when he splits up with his crew and the first one he calls whenever they meet again (alabasta, skypiea, punk hazard, zou, etc)

Zoro is luffy's anchor especially during difficult times (e.g. water7), he is luffy's voice of reason (e.g. pre-egghead), and luffy often listens to him (like when zoro gives luffy his assessment of a situation and how he thinks they should handle the situation and luffy immediately agrees to his plan)

And kinda random but meat is like the perfect food for beer! luffy's perfect for zoro!! Meat paired with the right beer can amplify each other's flavors. Even their favorite food (luffy) and drink (zoro) complement each other, like oda are you serious?? and the crazy thing is i'm pretty sure i haven't written down all the things that make me crazy about them

From their deal in shells town, then BOOM! zoro's sacrifice in thriller bark, all the way to luffy's blush, the iconic hug, and whatever tf that "if you're gonna invite our captain to hell, i'll come along as well" // "sorry... now you have no reason to die" bs in wano

Like how can i be normal about the two characters whose dreams have already merged into one that they can no longer achieve their dreams without each other by their side? i'm on my knees crying thinking about the bond between luffy and zoro-

zosaners complain about zolu being more popular because of opla when the ao3 is now dominated by them like 😭 let us have something and it's not like it's our fault since it's still canon-aligned. Blame Oda for giving it an ok, then

someone once said there are also a chunk of zosaners who only ship this without watching the show because there is lots of fan content and they're appealing to the bl community. I've seen it too and it's not new, I've done it with other ships and I have friends who do too, where we don't watch the show but we like the ship and the fan AUs. So they shouldn't complain with canon or other ships since they clearly can thrive on their own.

like I didn't mind the ship all (just didn't ship it) but certain corners are testing me!!!! the thing is their ship is already the most popular one and has been for decades. I don't see why its necessary to tear down another side of the fandom that's gotten a lil treat (opla being so zolu centered), especially considering its canon based.

It would be one thing if the adaptation was wilding OOC and generally bad writing but oda approved edited and reviewed every single aspect of the show including highlighting zoro n luffy's relationship. and tbh its completely (if not more so) supported by the manga and anime. zoro and luffy have ALWAYS been insane about each other. let us have fun!!!!!!!!

namivivi- on top. soulmates. they’re the lesbians ever i adore them they’re WIVES

acesan- really cute, they had a few flirty moments in the alabasta arc and i really really love them

zolu: adorable. i love them. they’re so so cute and zoro is such a guard dog boyfriend they’re adorable

sanji x usopp: kinda a rare pair, but i think they’re pretty cute. sanji always seems to take care of usopp and i like them

zosan: honestly, it’s not my favorite, but they do have their moments where there’s a lot of chemistry/tension

LIVE ACTION (fav to least fav)

kobylu- adorable. there’s so many moments where i was so sure that they were about to kiss. they’re literally so cute i adore them

kaya x usopp- soulmate level connection. they were so cute it drives me insane, i need more of them IMMEDIATELY

nami x kaya- i love them, they had so much chemistry, they’re so cute they’re so gay

in opla i kinda see the straw hats as less shippable with each other. zoro nami and usopp are so siblings to me, and nami usopp and luffy are also siblings, so i don’t really like the whole straw hat polycule ship, but i’m not completely against it. i just did this for fun :)

Episode 7 (OPLA)

-Buggy’s head, lovely as usual (and lovely song too)

-Sanji having meet Luffy 5 minutes ago and already knowing him very well (as observant as always)

-Zoro picking his first fight with Sanji 

-Zoro “You don’t know Nami” sounds pretty mad about leaving them behind to me

-Love the idea that the pinwheels are something typical from Nami’s island because of the tangerine grove, it’s genius

-Nami playing cards like a boss, such a power move

-Loving that Arlong Park is really a park with the little booths to play an all (a true call out to Arlong’s past and his dream of being able to go the one in Saoboy, but fishmen racism)

-I have mix feelings about Garp and Zeff, I’m afraid of the tickling

-Garp stopping he's chase for food is so on point (poor Bogard trying to be a good marine)

-”Ooh, new guy carries the clown head”

-Genzo is a fucking exact copy from the one in the manga and the anime

-Zoro stopping  Luffy by touching him (yes I am still not over all the ZoLu from the last episode - how could I?)

-Nojiko is beautiful even more gorgeous that the manga and anime

-I am okay with the change but it makes me feel even sadder for Nami and Nojiko, at least in the manga and anime they have each other, but here poor Nami has been all alone for 8 years and Nojiko has lost her sister for the same amount of time

-That they recreate the exact poses of the iconic moment when they are all going to kick some asses makes me extremely happy and grateful for the amount of detail that the live action has

OKAY SO. I have now watched two episodes and i have so much to say (long rambling post ahead, sorry)

Iñaqui is perfect. I was worried that he would not live up to the hype but he does. He captures luffy perfectly and manages to adapt luffy's personality to the new medium / the tone of the show. He is not just copying luffy, if that makes sense. Hes funny and silly and clearly having a great time which is exactly why he is the best possible casting. He just makes me smile so hard (btw my friend said he was his favorite character hehe)

I love Zoro, I wish he would smile more/be sillier but I think his sense of humor in the show works. I hope we see him call out some of his moves eventually, like, Get over youself and be silly!!!! But i love the actor and I loooove the zoro/luffy dynamic so far. I do have to say that i have mixed feelings about the change to Zoro joining the crew, i have always loved the moment when he calls luffy captain at shells town, but whatever its fine

Nami.... im still not sold on the actress, she feels a bit stiff sometimes, but its better than what i was expecting based on the trailers. Not a fan of turning Nami into the "older sister" character :/ but im not surprised that they went with that angle. LOVED to see her fight alongside luffy and zoro, it is something that i wish we could see more of in the manga/anime. I love that they give her a lot more to do and we see her actually lock picks and be a thief! Im hopeful for the rest of the season and cant wait to see how they did Arlong Park. I really enjoyed her scene with Zoro when they are captured by Buggy, again i really miss seeing them interact in the original so it was nice

And that leads us to BUGGY. oh boy. I do like the costuming and his crew looked amazing, but hes too edgy for my taste. Maybe the actor is taking himself too seriously? Idk maybe i should reread the orange town chapters but i dont think buggy was ever this threatening and scary... he still had some goofy moments tho, so im hoping that as the show progresses he will be more like the buggy we know and love. My friend liked him a lot so ig it might have been the right call in order to bring in new fans.

I liked how they changed Alvida! It was totally the best way to handle her character (also, the actress is so hot, no one would have believed it if they called her ugy lol). I dont see why they took away Kobys big moment :/ I think it was a great disservice to his character

So far, I like the way they are condensing the plot. Obviously they would have to cut a lot, so im okay with how they are doing it. Orange Town felt a little rushed to me, but its okay.

LETS TALK ABOUT MR 7 THO. I fucking gasped. Did everyone already know that mr 7 was going to be on this? Cuz i didnt. It was such a good fight and i loved that they added that, they are clearly confident on getting a second season which makes ME more confident too. God i really hope we get Baroque Works.

The sets look amazing, i love the transponder snails SO MUCH, the fights are really cool and the CGI looks so good. The Devil Fruit looked too fake but eh, thats just a nitpick. The costumes are a mixed bag. I know namis orange skirt with the rings on the side is iconic but i think the actress looked silly with that outfit lol.

Okay im done HAHA sorry im going a bit insane. TLDR: I love it, im having a blast, i dont like some details here and there but im extremely positive about the show and cant wait to see the rest :)))) What did you think????

Literally just rummaged through your blog and your Zolu content was immaculate, it served me so well. Ships where the fundamental basis of the relationship is Intense Devotion... makes me Deranged.

What I love is how like yes there are the big Zolu moments that any fan can think off top of their head (That first meeting in Orange Twon, Thriller Bark's Nothing. Happened, Wano's LUFFY!!!!) but what I love is that you pick out the small details as well that show how much they care about each other in the small things.

You call that being delulu (～￣▽￣)～ or overthinking but I eat that shit up (≧▽≦q). It's the small things that matter.

But what are your thoughts on other OP ships, any other OTPs? I can tell you right now that OPLA had me reevaulate the perscription on my shipping goggles for ZoNami. I did not see that ship coming let me tell you.

Aww, thank youu for the compliment?!!😭❤💚 but yeah it's just that i can't help but to focus on all the little details (i hyperfocuse on little things like, a lot😅😅) People usually talk about the big moments (like in shells town, thriller bark, or wano), so sometimes i can't help but feel the urge to talk about the subtle moments and emphasize on them??

Talking about my other op otps... i also adore namivivi and frobin! And i also like saboala, mishanks, and usokaya too (they are on the 2nd tier, cuz zolu namivi and frobin are the one from the 1st tier, but ofc it's pretty obvious that im the most insane about zolu) my thoughts about them? I think they make me ill:) I can't help but to kick my feet when i read fics, see some fanarts, or just watch people talking about them🥺🥺 There are some other ships that i think are pretty neat too, but i don't gush over them as much as the first two tiers😅 im talking about kidlaw, kobylu, sanuso, lunami, sanami, kidkiller, etc... they are on the 3rd tier:D (kidlaw is so close to the 2nd tier tho)

I honestly can see why people ship zonami in opla loll, tbh i also didn't expect to see that ship coming out pretty strong in opla? But good for the zonami people i guess!:)
