there’s a message about having more control over your ego - particularly when it comes to any negative self talk or irresponsible behaviour (like procrastination). there’s something that you’re going to have to make a major change with that’ll take up a lot of energy, but this is for the sake of your own self-stability and sustainability too. i’m seeing that a lot of you have established your spot in your self employment, but now you’re tasked with sustaining yourself there. that’s why it’s important to have more control over your mind than your mind does over you. there’s a major leap of faith that can be taken in this situation. creating a relationship between your higher self and your ego that incorporates a give and take energy will really aid in this self sustainability. knowing when to let your ego run free and when you need to control it is a smart idea right about now, especially when it comes to what you think and what you say. how you respond to people too. make sure that you have established realistic standards for yourself on your work projects and then channel a lot of focus into them. use the visualisation and idea of being comfortable and stable as fuel towards your goals. you might be starting to lose hope with something, but there’s a huge wish fulfilment regarding your work life - as long as you stay focused. there’s also a message to not undervalue yourself either. ensure that you’re charging a price for your products or services that is worth the energy that you put in. again, set your own standards for your self employment and your own goals regardless of how other people may view them and focus. something that you’ve been wishing for is coming in intensely, quickly, and “out of nowhere”. it’s going to be an unexpected wish fulfilment.

there’s a lot of conflict surrounding you, despite you trying to protect your energy. this could be competition from others who are in the same niche as you, or conflict in the form of messages and communication. this could more so be about you fighting internally with yourself about methods and ways of doing things, ways of communicating and speaking and presenting. there’s also a message about remembering to not compare yourself to others either. if there are other people competing and comparing themselves with you, then i feel like you might not even realise this because you’re in your own energy so much. continue to protect your energy, pile three. there’s also a message to try and curb the self conflict. whatever you’re worried about, i feel like there is no right or wrong way of doing this. just do it in whatever way feels the most comfortable and natural for you. going into isolation mode in order to deeply think about whatever your work project is will cause you to realise all of the ways of thinking that are futile. all of the ways of thinking that are not serving you anymore. you may feel like you don’t match up to others but this is the comparison that’s holding you back. it’s time to go into hermit mode and focus on what you have going on. i feel like for a lot of you, you’ve been looking to others to see how you should approach your self employment goals or to see how you can also become successful. finding inspiration from others is a great idea, but i feel like you could be comparing your own work to theirs and it’s counterproductive at this point, so you’re being advised to literally block out everyone that isn’t either working with you or purchasing services and products from you. follow your own intuition and do what feels right to you. also, exercise nurture and care towards yourself in your own isolation. your intuition is easier to listen to when you do that, and you’ll be lead by it once you know how to listen to it clearly.

Ceres: BITCH IM A MOTHA!!! Pt. 2 🍂👩‍👧✨

Libra:

This native likes to be nurtured by being given nice material items and being included. Knowing that their people pour into the native just as the Libra Ceres native pours into their loved ones is a tremendous source of love and nurturance. 

It may be best if this native heals from loss by being surrounded by their loved ones. They may even use others as an escape of this loss, but they need a good support system during their time in the valley.

This native nurtures & loves on their loved ones through continual work towards achieving harmony and peace in their interpersonal relationships. Love hearing their loved ones out. Helping them out when needed. Loves to keep the balance in the dynamic. Yet this can quickly turn into people pleasing if they do not notice that their loved ones are supposed to do the same for them as well, so be careful of that.

This native loves to be apart of the community and helps the community progress forward. The native shows service to their community by being a force of balance and impartiality. There are no sides but the side that will advance the community as a whole. They appreciate it when their ideas are listened to.

This native as a parent may be conscious on how to connect with their children and make sure the dynamic between them and their children is fair and balanced, and will teach their children about diplomacy, negotiation, and fairness. But be sure that you are not giving the impression to your child that their needs are not as important (this includes you as well Libra Ceres) when teaching them these concepts.

Also, sometimes the impartiality portion of making sure the dynamic is fair and balanced can come at a cost of the emotional portion of parenthood. Emotions don't have to always be sorted out, sometimes it is just meant to be felt and processed.

Scorpio:

This native may need a lot of nurture, but it can be hard to accept at times. This native may have had an intense relationship with their mother (esp if it aspects the moon), but don't take this in the negative sense. The native's mom may have been quite controlling or tried to be so codependent on this native. Or conversely this native may have had a mother who was so intense in protecting and loving them that nothing was of limits of her love to the native, which still could have been tumultuous at times.

This native may have a cautious and dominating view of parenthood. This native needs to be conscious of the fact they are not hindering their children. We know you want to keep them safe, but they also have to learn as independent thinkers themselves. This may be a result of the dynamic with the mother figure.

This native may used to dealing with loss (as Pluto does represent destruction) but is also good at processing these emotions at a deep level while having enough willpower to know that this will not break them. These are some strong natives, but remember yall deserve soft love too.

They may heal from loss through acts of revenge (lol im kidding). But this native may heal their loss through spiritual means and planning their next move. This native may also cut away what is holding them down as a way to heal.

This native can be extremely powerful and abundant (especially if in aspect to Jupiter or Pluto) as the Underworld where Hades resides is filled with hidden, buried treasures. This native needs to know though that this kind of abundance is a double edged sword. As a Pluto ruled Ceres the native may attract so much power with their abundance, or even have an abundance of power. Yet, Pluto is also a scandalous energy. As long as you're doing right Scorpio Ceres, you have nothing to worry about.

This native may like to be alone most times, so as far as a community this native will be apart of a community that they truly hold dear to them and they can relate to. I can even see this native as extremely protective of their community members as well.

This native needs depth when it comes to how they want to be loved and cared for. Again, it can be hard to accept sometimes for them since this kind of Ceres placement is tumultuous thanks to Pluto. But this placements appreciates someone who cares for them deeply and will stick their neck out for them. It's also in the little things you do for this native.

It is because this native loves and cares for others this way. There is no end to how far a Scorpio native will protect and love their people. This is definitely a loyal, fierce nurturance. The native may not always strike like Aries Ceres, but this native watches who hurts their loved ones and moves accordingly.

This native will not mind using their dark side if that means to protect the ones they love. They know how terrible and deceptive people can be. Better safe than sorry. Yet, be careful about that Scorpio Ceres. You don't want that to backfire on you.

This native has a routine that serves their spiritual hygiene as well. There has to be a purpose to their routine. This native doesn't like to have a shallow routine that serves them nothing but just satisfying the senses (that is their opposite, Taurus Ceres). This can also apply to the food they eat as well.

Sagittarius:

A Sagittarius Ceres shows love and caring through their abyss of generosity. This is an individual who isn't afraid to love and give love to their people, and even their community. They're so honest about their love as well.  Sagittarius are frank. There is no need to give love and care to someone they don't want to. 

This native can be a community leader. Their thoughts and ideas can have a motherly expression to them, and people may lean towards this native for guidance. Almost like a teacher.

This native can be extremely abundant, but also wasteful if they are too optimistic about their abundance. 

This native likes to be nurtured in a way that the people around them love them dearly, but not at the cost of their freedom. This native are compatible with people who are generous and easygoing. This native does not like harshness. They don't like others who will try to tell them how to love, care, and nurture. They do not like possessiveness neither.

They also liked to be nurtured in a way they have the freedom to express themselves without being harshly criticized. This doesn't mean they should be around people who will not hold them accountable, but this native is not an extremely "tough love" type.

This native may lean to their faith in times of loss. This native may recover better from loss when they analyze it from a philosophical, theological perspective. If there is something to be learned from tragedy, then that could be the gain.

This native is a good example of what it means to give phila love to their community. They are open-minded and accepting, no matter a person's background. This native is abundant with their nurturance.

This native teaches others that there is always an opportunity. Always something to learn. This native teaches others to explore the world other there. You will strengthen your own belief of love and nurturance when you compare it to the world outside of your local place/culture.

This native may be the kind of parent who is easygoing with their children. Also will be a frank parent and more open to listening their child's opinions. They may be highly involved in their child's education, faith, and travel plans.

Capricorn:

This native may be the tough love type. Yet, it is not to hurt their loved ones, but to prepare them for a cold world. This native may have also had a cold relationship with their mother. This also may be their view of parenthood.

Speaking of parenthood, this native may be the parent who will teach their children discipline and the art of doing things the right way, no matter how long it takes.

I’m personally very excited for August, as there are a lot of astrological happenings going on - including a Blue Moon at the end of the month! I plan on doing a lot of research regarding Blue Moons in the next week or two, so be on the lookout for that!

SUPER FULL MOON IN AQUARIUS – AUGUST 1ST

Aquarius is one of the most powerful signs for the full moon, as the two go hand-in-hand with sensitivity, intuition, perception and emotions. There is a great sense of balance during this time; it will be rare to see any extremes going on.

You may also feel more passionate during this time, and may seek to learn new things or satiate your need to feed your intellect. This would be a great time to learn something new! Equally, this is also a good time to embrace new perspectives and focus more on “progressive” ideas.

With the Full Moon tugging at our emotions, the influence of Aquarius provides us the support we need to process these emotions, rather than getting swept up in them.

Fantastic Fauxlore is a Fairy Tale, Fable, & Myth Inspired FFXIV Mini Big Bang currently being planned! Our goal is to host a fandom event that matches writers and artists to create a short, themed ffxiv fiction piece with a corresponding illustration.

This collection will be featured on AO3—AND to keep with a storybook-inspired theme–we’re going to try to offer the collection as a free downloadable PDF.

With this additional goal in mind, we have set the maximum word count for event stories to be around 15k. This will make it a little more manageable for our mods who will be formatting the text.

We know having a max word count can feel limiting to the creativity of writers, but we hope it isn’t too much of an impediment, and the balance will allow us to keep our mods’ health/time in mind while providing enough room for writers to tell their stories.

Joining the Event Discord will now be REQUIRED for participants of the event, as it provides a convenient hub for contributors and moderators to easily access one another.

Emails will still go out to remind contributors of upcoming checkpoints, but this will help mods to have an additional method of contact.  We know it’s an extra step, but we hope this does not hinder anyone’s involvement or enjoyment in the event.

With our rules and event more settled, we’re moving on to discussing scheduling for sign-ups, check-ins, matching, posting, etc.

Teaching The Important Things:

“Okay, now tighten the knot.” Fredrick said as he was watching the miniscule hands and what they were doing intently.

Lily carefully tightened the line, thin cord but a line that can well support her weight and then some. She sat up and looked at the propped up phone set beside her that had the reference pictures, “I… think I got it. It makes more sense seeing the pictures dad.”

“Good,” the man smiled, proud as he shifted in his seat to reach for his coffee mug on the table. “Want to test your knots baby girl?” 

“Yes!” Lily brightened up as the small girl perked up. She found the line, and started to loop it up to be neat and once her adopted, giant father had settled again. She measured a good distance of six inches in the line starting where it was connected to herself. The girl lifted the spot once her dad's attention was back on her fully. “This should be a safe distance right?”

Fredrick checked the distance and picked up the line. Twisting some more on the other side through his fingers, “Looks good, ready?”

Lily wiggled exactly and nodded, “Yes!”

The man grinned as he planted his left elbow and lifted his bitty daughter up slowly until she was off her feet. Pausing so only two inches were under her and his right hand hovered near but not so much to interfere. “Don't forget to sit back, let the harness hold you Lily, don't hang from it to cinch it around your middle.”

The tiny girl concentrated, but got in the position she needed to be. All at once a lot of things they had talked about and watched on the phone made sense. She swayed for a few moments before shifting her lower legs and started to swing back and forth. Testing the feel and movement before making a face.

“Can you put me down dad?”

“What did you notice?” Fredrick asked, carefully lowering Lily back to the table top. Smiling a little as she leaned back onto the knuckles of his other hand as she adjusted the harness. 

“It feels looser and…slippery? Like my leg could slide out.” Lily said as she finished, getting up and testing movement before looking back and up at her giant father. “Okay, we can try again!”

Fredrick lifted the line again, and watched intently as Lily started her testing. She was notably a lot more confident as she swung again. Then unprompted started to climb the line up to his hand. Fredrick grinned, “hey, you remembered what we talked about. Good leg work baby girl.”

“Thanks!” Lily gasped once she was up on the back of the massive hand. Her dad had kept his hand steady and though he did not shift to accommodate, he did not hinder, letting her sort out her balance and mechanics herself for the most part.

It was one of the things Lily was learning she loved about her giant adopted dad. He was more than happy to help teach Lily survival skills, mechanics, electronics on top of everything else like reading, writing and math. Even if Lily was not nearly big enough to use some of this, but also just… whatever she wanted to learn there was no hesitation. 

Even repealing like in the video of her dad doing it in training. Or if she was not up to something at all. Lily grinned and held up her arms to the human, “dad!”

“What baby girl?” 

“I want a hug.”

Fredrick rolled his eyes playfully, not sure what thoughts his little daughter had in her head for those expression changes.  His other hand came up and pulled the girl up by the line, getting a startled yelp as he brought Lily over. It was just a moment of seemingly being unstable before he hunched. Holding Lily in his hand and press on his cheek to her small self. 

The man smiled at the laughing and small smack against his cheek before Lily pressed her head against him. Shamelessly in this random want for a cuddle. “You're such a brat.”

“No I'm not,” Lily said confidently, standing up with her hands on Frederick’s cheek and looking up at the big brown eye half lidded. Recognizing the happy expression. “But now I'm ready to learn about repelling!”

“Okay you're a dork not a brat,” Frederick said with a fod smile, but helped Lily down so they could make sure her line was untangled and wrapped back up, then picked her up with his own confidence of experience now.

“Where are we going?” Lily asked, as they left the table and then to the living room.

“Over by the couch, I made something for you last night.” Frederick said as he set Lily in the low coffee table before pulling something off the couch to set up near her. 

“Is that sand paper?” Lily gasped, making her her line was over a shoulder and out of the way as she looked at the odd things as they were set down before being assembled. She touched the poster board, recognizing that, as it worked pretty good for making models with her adopted mom. There were carefully pinned course sandpaper on the board in a line.

“Yep, I thought it would be good for you for traction as you first start.” The man nodded, taking that part once Lily was clear, and attached it at an angle that seemed about what starters should be on. Frederick just had to adjust it for Lily's size. 

As he did so Lily ran around the structure he made, the top end had to be a good two feet high! It was made with wood and seemed like it could adjust? It was at the highest settings? 

“You remember what we went over with anchor points?” Her dad's voice drew Lily's attention away from the excitement building.

“Yeah! I mean yes. Uuh we haven't made anything yet for me to use yet.” Lily started and then stood up, focusing on the reminder of safety.

“We will, I have an idea for now though,” Frederick reassured, “Part of the reason I want you to practice here with me instead of jumping off the kitchen counter.”

Lily grinned, through had the good sense to seem a bit sheepish. She still shamelessly tried that now and then, but not nearly as much as she used to do! And she waited for her parent's attention first now. She started to try and sort how to climb up as her dad pushed a thick scarf around the bottom of the practice ramp. Squeak g as she was carefully picked up and lifted to the top.

“Don't worry about climbing up for now, you're going to be tired enough with repealing today.” The man reassured before going over the checklist of safety points they had learned and gone over that morning. 

Lily was excited, yes, but very proud that she could answer everything. The first several times of actual practice were…awkward to say the least. She was very grateful that her dad had quick reflexes. She was determined to get the hang of this before her mom got off work. 

They only really stopped for a quick snack and used the facilities, then off to try again. Lily was tired when she was finally able to get down, back up and down again all by herself. Her arms her, her back hurt and it was a relief to sprawled in the massive, but warm hands after getting the harness off. Then some needed rest against her dad's chest.

Lily dosed without realizing it as she was listening to the deep heartbeat under her. Not really aware of when Frederick got up. The man still had a proud and fond look as he carried Lily to the kitchen, finding the spot she liked to be in where she could watch normally. It was a warmer area of the kitchen and… and…

Frederick sighed, having a fond smile as he gently rubbed his thumb against Lily's side. “Why do you have to be so small, baby girl? you're going to melt my heart.”

The tiny girl just curled up to be comfortable in her hammock-like spot. The motion had Lily pressing her forehead against the side of the pad of his thumb. CHAPTER 10: THE RUSE

The drop went perfectly. Rebel Alliance pilots were well practiced at slipping in and out of systems; the bulk cruiser stayed in the Executrix’s vicinity mere seconds, allowing the IPV-1 System Patrol Craft to float out of its launch bay before jumping back into hyperspace.

“Here we go,” Jyn said as Bodhi powered up the corvette’s engines. “You’ve got the clearance codes ready?”

“Yep,” the pilot replied. He moved awkwardly in a stormtrooper’s uniform, hindered by the bulky plastoid armor. His helmet sat on the copilot’s seat next to him.

Jyn had forged the clearance codes herself, tapping into a childhood skill that had impressed Saw Gerrera. “You double checked them?”

Bodhi nodded. “Yes, they’re good. We have about fifteen minutes until intercept. You had better go…get…ready,” he finished reluctantly, nervous about the next step in Jyn’s plan.

She touched him reassuringly on the shoulder. “Give us a five minutes heads up.”

“Will do.”

Jyn made her way into the ship’s aft compartment where the rest of the crew waited. Chirrut and Baze were ready, also dressed in stormtrooper uniforms. “All set?”

The men nodded. Chirrut lifted his head, as though reading the room’s energy while Baze locked eyes on Jyn and watched as she approached Melshi.

“Are you sure about this?” the sergeant asked.

“It needs to be believable.”

Melshi stared at her intensely for a long time, his mouth pressed into a straight line. “Cassian wouldn’t like it.”

“You can argue with him about it after we get him back.” She reached out and pulled the man’s blaster pistol from his holster and handed it to him. “Make it look good.”

Melshi turned the blaster over in his hands, gripping it sidelong so it lay flat in his palm.

“Just think of it as payback for the time I hit you in the face with a shovel,” she smirked.

He almost laughed at the memory. Wobani felt like a lifetime ago. He set his teeth and lifted the weapon.

His hesitation was worse than if he’d just gone through with it. Jyn flinched before he even swung, hitting her in the face so hard she smashed to the floor. The blaster’s metal did its job, gashing her forehead and splitting her cheek. “Jesus, Melshi!” Jyn gasped, pressing a hand to her face. “What the fuck?!”

“You said make it look good!” the man cried, shrugging back. “I didn’t want to do it in the first place!”

Jyn hauled herself to her feet, blood pouring down her face from the cut over her eye. She steadied her balance before looking at Baze, opening her hands in a gesture that implied, ‘good enough?’

The guardian grimaced, but pointed to her mouth.

Jyn nodded, turning back to Melshi. “Again…”

“I’m not…”

“Without the blaster this time,” she cut off his rebuttal. “It needs to look like I resisted. Just do it.”

He clenched his teeth, visibly distraught.

Jyn softened her voice. “It’s a game, Melshi. We’re playing against the Empire and this is how we win.”

He swallowed and nodded.

“Go on,” she urged.

Melshi slapped her hard, splitting her lip.

Chirrut audibly gasped, clearly bothered by the entire process.

Jyn was doubled over, hands on her knees. Melshi moved to her side and helped her upright. “I’m sorry,” he said quietly.

“Don’t be.” She blinked furiously to clear her vision. “I’ve had worse than this.” She took a deep breath and nodded approvingly at the sergeant. “You did good.” She smoothed her hands over his shoulders, brushing a wrinkle from the fabric. “You’re an officer of the Empire now. Make them believe you.”

Melshi’s eyes hardened, accepting his mission. “I’m ready.”

“Good,” Jyn smiled, then winced.

“Five minutes!” Bodhi shouted from the cockpit.

“Let’s gear up,” Jyn said. “It’s time to find Cassian.”

While the other’s fitted their helmets in place and checked their blasters, Jyn looked at her reflection in a glass panel. Melshi’s work was perfect; she looked like a rebel resisting arrest. She ran her hands roughly over her hair, mussing it up to add to the effect.

“Clearance codes accepted,” Bodhi shouted. “We’re docking.”

After the inspection crew disembarked, Melshi—spine straight, shoulders back, looking every bit the imperial officer—led Rogue One down the ramp to meet the deck commander. Baze, Chirrut, and Bodhi were all concealed within their stormtrooper garb, helmets protecting their identities. The guardians dragged Jyn forward, her wrists bound, and threw her to her knees before the Executrix officer. Bodhi brought up the rear.

“What have we here?” the deck commander asked, scoffing at the prisoner.

Melshi’s brow arched with disgust. “She’s a Scarif rebel. We intercepted her ship in the system’s outer reaches.”

“Scarif, you say?”

Melshi nodded. He could tell the deck commander was suspicious.

“What was she doing?”

“She claimed to be making a rescue attempt. Apparently, there’s a rebel prisoner aboard this ship that she wanted to free.”

The deck commander narrowed his eyes. “Just offered up that information, did she?”

Melshi grasped Jyn by the hair and pulled her head back, revealing her battered face. “We were very persuasive.”

The imperial officer pressed a button on his commlink and a viper droid came forward. “I need to verify your claim that she’s a Scarif rebel.”

“Do what you must, but I assure you we’ve already done our due diligence.”

The droid lowered to Jyn’s level and scanned her face. As with Cassian, it produced a positive result almost instantly.

The imperial officer smirked and advanced on Jyn. “What did you think? That you could sneak aboard and just walk out with your man?” He looked at Melshi. “The arrogance of these rebels is pathetic.” He took hold of her chin and leaned toward her. “Tarkin will be extremely pleased. A second Scarif rebel in custody, and both ring leaders, at that.” He released her and turned to Melshi. “It’s likely he will want to personally oversee her interrogation, but he’s just departed for the Death Star.”

“Unfortunate timing.”

“Perhaps not. Tarkin’s death troopers are preparing to transfer the other rebel to the Death Star within the hour. We can send this cretin along as well.” The officer gestured for a stormtrooper squad to come over. “We’ll take her from here.”

Melshi puffed his chest up and stepped between the oncoming squad and Jyn. “With all due respect, this woman is of unparalleled significance to the Grand Moff. I’m not letting her out of my sight until I’ve personally transferred her to Tarkin’s troopers.”

“Are you insinuating my soldiers aren’t up to the task?”

Melshi leaned in and lowered his voice. “Perhaps you’ve noticed my squad is smaller than it should be. The little minx killed several of my men.” He tipped his head and caught the man’s eye. “As a fellow officer, you’ll understand my desire for personal gratification in this matter.”

The deck commander gave Melshi a knowing look and nodded. “We can accommodate this request.”

Melshi bowed slightly. “It’s most appreciated.”

“Head up to the detention level. You’ll find the death trooper squad in the last cell on the right.”

“Last cell on the right,” Melshi confirmed.

Mercury Retrograde in Taurus

As we reach the last half of April, life has been shaken up with the chaos of Eclipse Season. With Mercury backtracking, projects and plans might be slowing down. It could even feel as if things are coming to a halt! The universe is telling us to rethink, reconsider or reassess things. There will be confusion and miscommunications and changes that must be made to accommodate!

Mercury is in Retrograde from April 21 - May 14. Three to four times a year, Mercury appears to be traveling backward in the sky. Mercury goes into retrograde more than any other planet because of its proximity to the Earth.

Astrologically, Mercury rules over communication, which includes listening, writing, reading and speaking. This carries over to technology. It also includes things like negotiations and contracts. Mercury also rules travel, cars, mail, shipping. When Mercury is in Retrograde, we might experience difficulties in these areas. This time is associated with confusion, delay and frustration. Email blunders, messed up travel plans and appliances on the fritz! It’s easy to blame Mercury Retrograde for all the chaos that happens.

This isn’t a great time to make contracts, promises, start a relationship or launch anything new. It can be a good time to reflect and plan for those things. Intuition is high at this time and coincidences can be extraordinary.

Mercury in Taurus Influence

This Retrograde could feel more chaotic than usual. This Retrograde coincides with Eclipse Season, which starts on April 19 with a Solar Eclipse in Aries until May 5th with a Lunar Eclipse in Scorpio. Mercury will station retrograde next to Uranus, the planet of surprise and disruption. 

This Retrograde, Mercury will be in Taurus, the sign of finances, body, values, career. This Retrograde commands a realignment of personal goals, ambitions, limits and desires. Taurus is about embodied power and declaring our inner wealth through our expression. 

You may find yourself being more stubborn than usual, not listening or double checking! Be wary of how this will hinder you further during a time of miscommunications and errors. Learning patience will help during this time.

Mercury might show more confusion than resolution when it comes to the security of our finances, at least at first. It's a good time to look over your finances and see if there is a place you can cut down on your spending. Take this time to consolidate resources and willpower for the season to come.

Taurus energy infusing with this Mercury Retrograde might cause frustration about pace. Taurus likes to work slow and steady, and Mercury Retrograding will only amplify this slowness! Don’t do something hasty to counteract this just because Aries energy is lingering from the Eclipse Season. This will only lead to errors!

This is a great reminder to slow down. You may be finding yourself overwhelmed, overworking, or overcommitting. Make sure you’re taking care of yourself. Sleep longer, save money and let go of engagements that might not be worth your time. Shadow Work can be great to do during Mercury Retrograde. It can be a great chance to reflect on the darker parts of yourself, even the things that you don’t like, and learn to accept them or change them! Remember that witchcraft and journaling doesn’t replace therapy, so if you have challenging things in your past or mental health issues, make sure that you’re in a good headspace. Shadow work can be difficult and heavy, so I recommend a treat afterward.

If you’re looking for an excuse to go a day without Social Media or to completely unplug, Mercury Retrograde is a great time to get away from technology and socializing! If you want to practice some mindfulness, what better way than to be away from those tiny screens we’re always glued to.

One of the best things to do during Mercury Retrograde is relax. Chill out with your favorite movie and warm cup of tea. Order in from your favorite restaurant and nourish yourself! Take a nice bath to unwind and decompress!

The best thing to do is remain flexible, patient and understanding. Life doesn’t stop, so make accommodations for potential problems! Allow for extra travel time, check in with your reservations and tickets, double check your email responses and put off signing contracts if it’s possible. If it’s not, just make sure you are checking all the details and crossing all the t’s and dotting all the i’s.

Ch.6-Winning Hands TWST Mafia AU

There was nothing extraordinary to the job, given that Ace was only 17 there were only a few things he could do at the casino, but given the fact that he knew many card games he became a Dealer. The casino was roaring with business as usual, laughter and cheers of disappointment or excitement filled the air, and Ace was hard at work with his customers. His uniform was black slacks and dress shoes, paired with a white dress shirt and a black vest that contained a red heart design over his left pectoral, the gloves and bow tie also were black and in all it was a dull look to Ace. In his mind these were common “Casino” clothes like from the movies.

“Full bust!” Ace called out with a smirk and looked at the men at the table. “The game is black jack gentlemen, remember to get as close as you can to 21 and not over.”

“Hit me.” One called out, receiving a card from the dealer before the next man called out his move.

Ace loved all kinds of games, Texas Hold ‘em, Black Jack, Baccarat, he always had fun playing those kinds of games. Perhaps it was spurred on from his father and brother, the three always had a blast hanging out so it could have been a natural development. As the game continued on there were sudden shouts and yells of disturbances that caught everyone’s attention, running through the casino was a middle aged man with his hands clutching onto loose thaumarks with security chasing him. Deuce was one of the guards following and caught up fairly quickly but the man only shoved him into Ace’s table, sending chips and cards flying as the pursuit was endless to the perpetrator. The redhead was quick to help Deuce to his feet and checked on his friend carefully to make sure there was no permanent damage, unlike Ace, Deuce worked security and the check in counter and was on his feet constantly. Getting injured in a way that would hinder his ability to stand would be troublesome. 

“Oi, you alright man? You didn’t hit your head?”

“N-no I’m fine, I need to go after him-” Deuce replied with a grunt, standing up to help with the chase but when the two looked over the man was already trapped under some guards.

“Too late, looks like they got him.” 

“Damn it..I wanted to catch him.”

The teasing tone that came from Ace only sparked an agitated look from the darker haired man. “Oh? Deuce is still trying to live out his policeman fantasy huh?”

“Shut it! Just because I’m dedicated doesn’t mean-”

“Enough, both of you.” 

Both froze up and looked over to their boss, Riddle, who was walking to the guards with Trey and Cater behind him. His expression was cold as he glared at the thief and spoke in a regal yet pernicious voice. “How dare you come in here, lose your own money, and then proceed to steal from others to make up for your pathetic play. You are no longer welcome here, if I see you come in here again it will be off with your head.”

With a nod the man was escorted out, the casino owner looked around at the stunned faces of his customers and cleared his throat before announcing loudly. “I apologize for all those that had to witness a criminal in your midst, please continue your games and welcome yourself a free beverage in the Burgundy Bar.”

Cater and Riddle shared a look and the tangerine haired man smiled as he took out his phone. “I got it~ I’ll keep an eye on the bar and make sure to maintain order. Should I also post some things in the media?”

“Yes, update the black list and advertise the entertainment and people at the bar.” Riddle replied before walking off with Trey.

Trey glanced over at Deuce, who was still leaning on Ace for balance, and spoke with a smile. “Good work, if you both want to take a break now would be good while the staff clean up the mess.”

“Sounds good to me!” Ace replied, letting go of Deuce and heading to the bar, the bright cyan eyes from the part-time guard looked at Trey with apprehension.

“Are you sure? You guys are not going to need me?”

“Deuce, there is nothing wrong with taking a break, besides Riddle and I have some important business to take care of with Azul right now. The night should be a bit more peaceful now.” Trey assured him with a kind expression before following Riddle.

Feeling a bit disheartened, the darker haired man fixed his red vest and tucked his white shirt back into his red slacks, a black spade was designed on the front of his vest right at his right pectoral. Deuce removed his white gloves and tucked them into his pocket while accompanying Ace and Cater at the bar. It was loud and rather obnoxious to get through the customers but it was worth the second to sit down, Ace smiled at his friend and chuckled as he nudged him with his elbow. “Hey don’t look so glum, we get a break out of the commotion!”

“Yeah but-”

“There’s nothing else to it, come on Deuce try to relax. You’re more of a stick in the mud than Idia.” 

“Ace is right!” Cater pitched in, sliding a drink to Deuce and taking a picture of the two before giving a big grin. “Gotta do a whole vibe check to make sure everyone is happy. You both really fit the image here you know? Totally artistic clash with the outfits and looks!”

Half of the time the poor teens barely understood Cater, but the media manager was very good at bringing up promotions and making everything at the casino look perfect. Ace just gave a polite smile and shrugged as he replied. “Well it’s not my first choice of clothing. Hey, on another note Cater, what is with Azul coming here all the time?”

Deuce’s curiosity was also attained at Ace’s question, pitching his own input. “Yeah, and those two guys that come around with Azul are so strange. Riddle can’t stand one of them and Trey seems indifferent.”

“Eh? Oh right, you both were only hired here a couple months ago.” Cater realized and set his phone down for a second. “But you really don’t know who they are?”

Both shook their heads and Cater looked around them cautiously before getting out of his seat and motioning them to follow him, leading them to a private booth with door attachments. They sat quietly for a moment, both teens watching their manager with confusion as a finger played with a lock of orange hair. In contrast to the majority of staff, Cater was not in a typical uniform, his outfit was a cream colored shirt with a tan and brown tweed waistcoat, his shoes were black and his pants a tawny brown color. There were no gloves or bow tie to his clothes but the earth tones helped to bring out his vibrant fern green eyes. After the doors were closed securely, he kept his voice low and took out his phone to retrieve some pictures. 

“So, let me make this clear, you can never tell anyone what I’m about to tell you ok?” 

“Alright?” Ace replied skeptically while Deuce only nodded.

The first photo was of Azul, taken at an odd angle without the man’s knowledge. “Despite only being a couple years older, Azul is the mafia leader to the Ashengrotto estate-”

“Ashengrotto!?” Both Ace and Deuce shouted, eyes wide while Cater leaned back in shock before hurryingly trying to make them quiet down.

“Ok good! You know what that name means, good..” Cater sighed and put his left hand over his heart. “Jeez, total heart attack..anyways, he and Riddle work together to promote their business and keep the cash flowing. Our businesses are in a collective unit called The Coin, two sides collectively working together for a common want or need.”

“Just to be clear, isn’t working with the mafia..illegal?” Deuce asked with concern, he did not want to be involved in illegal activities that could jeopardize his future.

“No, technically we do not do any malpractice with them. Riddle is always working hard to make sure that we all stay safe and are not criminalized for what happens outside of the casino.” 

“Jeez, what about that purple haired guy then?” Ace questioned, gaining Cater’s attention. “He was here a few weeks ago and security had to escort him out, but he was not added to the ban list.”

“Oh, that was one of Vil’s cronies. I haven’t met him, but that’s because Trey warned me to keep my distance for now. He was part of The Pride though, a union between the Savanaclaw Gang and Informant agency.”

“Whoa, pause for a second, rewind.” Ace groaned, leaning back in his seat. “Can you just start from the beginning? Otherwise this will get more confusing?”

Cater thought to himself, tapping his cheek with his index finger before smiling and nodding. “Alright! But it’s a long story, I’ll try to make it simple and quick for you two.”

“Is it really that complicated..?” Deuce muttered to himself as Cater took a breath and began to explain.

“Once upon a time-”

“Don’t tell it like a fairytale!” Ace snapped but Cater only chuckled and continued.

“Riddle and Trey were working on the proper paperwork to officially claim the business as his after the untimely death of his father. Mrs.Rosehearts did not approve but Riddle wanted to escape his oppressed life and continue his fathers legacy, to which Trey joined in. Another person by the name of Chenya had gone off on his own abroad for college, I’ve only seen him a couple times. Anyways, being the new casino owner meant there was a lot to do and Riddle needed a way to spread his name out, and I was brought on the scene! We were doing wonderfully for the regular gamblers but at the time we lacked the popularity we needed to make us a crown jewel in the city, to which Azul introduced himself one day. Apparently he’s had his eyes on this place for a while, but when Riddle rejected the offer to sell the business they struck up a deal. If Riddle could get more than one million new customers in one month then Azul would give up, and if not then he would have to sell the rights to the mafia.

I’m sure you realize that Riddle was not one to give up, so the three of us pitched several ideas together and worked our heads off to get as much advertisement as possible, the hardest part was getting the right clientele in. It didn’t help that Azul’s men, Jade and Floyd, continued to try and mess with us and our business the entire time. But by the time a month was up we managed to get more than one million new people through our doors and Azul was not happy about the defeat, but he respected Riddle’s valor so they struck up a new deal. But then a few days passed where our people kept getting attacked and robbed that Riddle had no choice. In order to hold some power Riddle suggested a different kind of deal, that Azul would be paid for bringing new clients and using his men whenever needed, Azul is basically paid to give out bodyguards or laborers if Riddle needs them and to not harm anyone that worked in the casino. “Wow..” Deuce said softly and blinked for what seemed like the first time in minutes. “We have ties to the mafia?”

He is the head of Thorn Agency, otherwise known as the assassin’s bureau. We normally don’t see him but his men like to skulk around here for their jobs..I’m sorry to tell you this guys but when we have a death here or someone sent to the hospital there’s a good chance it was intentional.”

“Wait, now we have assassins too?!” Ace sputtered out in shock.

“Don’t worry they’re completely professional, they would never harm someone that isn’t their target. Let’s see..you already know Idia obviously, he’s an underground doctor..then there is Sam who is a black market dealer for everyone and anyone. Both Idia and Sam have a “peace” compliance between the two groups so no fighting is allowed around them. And then there’s Kalim and Jamil that run the bank, we obviously have to maintain friendships with them.”

“Does the bank hold ties to us and the Mafia then?” Deuce questioned, leaning back in the booth.

“Of course! We have a different deal with them though. The Coin and The Pride are given a sum of money from the bank to keep the violence away from the streets of Golden Sands, we keep the violence away and we get paid along with having our cash stored there. Since Golden Sands district is filled with hospitals and other business firms we try to avoid chaos, any group that does not comply with the peaceful territory risks having money deducted and being turned over to the police.”

“Cater, what about the informants? Why are they coming here?” Ace asked, trying to get back to his own question from earlier.

“Ah..Do you boys know of Vil Schoenheit?”

“He’s a model right?” Ace questioned while Deuce only shook his head, not knowing the man’s name.

“Right, Vil is the head of his own informant agency, he likes to snoop around with some of his people to get dirty secrets on people to sell or blackmail with.”

“Huh?! If you know this, why don’t you tell the police?” Deuce questioned in annoyance. “First the mafia, then assassins, and now informants? Why can’t you guys go to anyone?”

“I think I know why,” Ace mumbled before asking. “Because “snitches get stitches” right?”

“Right on the nose Ace~” Cater replied cheerfully, tapping the tip of his own nose before continuing his explanation. “All of us know each other too well, this is a dispute between the groups, it is none of the police’s concern what happens. Besides, each region has paid off cops, some are on our side and others are on The Pride’s side, so we couldn’t tell who to trust. Anyways, we need to keep vigilant to keep Vil’s group out but it can be tough since they know the times that guards and staff switch shifts. No matter how many times we try to switch it up they always figure out the pattern.”

“So that’s why we had that weird week of day crew switching with night crew..” 

Deuce still did not look pleased by the information but pressed on with his questions. “In that case, what does The Pride want?”

“The Pride consists of Vil’s group, which love to tear down the people we have as clientele, and the Savanaclaw gang. I assume you know this gang since they’ve hit the news several times over their destruction of city property and constant interruptions of construction projects. Both groups seem to hold a hatred for the city itself so we do our best not to get in the way. Azul especially has animosity for the gang since many of Azul’s business partners want to expand the city.”

“But why does Vil want to deal with a gang?”

Cater’s expression changed right then, it was of dismay as he released a sigh and stared at the two. “It’s hard to say..Leona and Vil have mutual respect but by what i’ve heard they constantly are fighting. I wish I could answer that to you both. All I know for certain is they both have a common goal of getting rid of the holders of the city, those in politics, construction, financial support, they can’t stand people like that. To be honest though, I can’t either but they’re like, our main source of money? So we put up with people like that.”

Ace and Deuce were quiet, thoughts rolling and grinding uncomfortably in their heads, the two shared a look of uncertainty before turning their attention back to Cater. Ace however was the first to break the silence as he stood up and exaggerated his arms stretching up as he commented. “Alright! Well I’m going back to work, come on Deuce!”

“Alright, thanks again Cater.” Deuce replied, standing up and following Ace out of the booth, the red head however was walking towards the entrance to the casino floor. “Ace? Where are you going?”

“Just uh, going to check and see how our boss is doing.” Ace replied with a cheeky grin as he made his way upstairs to the third floor, Deuce followed after him in a frenzy.

“Ace! I know what you’re thinking so stop right now!”

The two sped up the stairs and Ace’s cherry eyes narrowed when he thought about which meeting room Riddle would have gone into, ignoring Duece’s protests he snuck closer to the wall of doors and carefully pressed his each door until he recognized two voices. Deuce caught up and grabbed onto Ace’s shoulder as he hissed into his ear. “Ace! Come on, we can’t eavesdrop!”

“Shh! I’m trying to listen.” Ace grumbled as he shoved Deuce back a little and kept his ear to the door. “Oh shit they’re talking about a heist.”

“Really?” Deuce asked in disbelief and pressed his ear to the door, but then glared seeing the grin on Ace’s face. “You just lied didn’t you?”

“If you can’t make them, trick them.” Ace replied then refocused on trying to hear through the thick door. 

The conversations were muffled thanks to the heavy doors but occasionally the two heard yelling, mostly from Riddle, and a taunting laughter. Unfortunately, no solid words could be made out and this frustrated Ace greatly, he slowly turned the knob of the door to try and open it but found it locked. Deuce noticed the growing aggravation and gently smacked Ace’s hand away from the knob and took out a couple bobby pins from his pockets and began to pick at the lock, Ace watched in surprise and asked. “Since when do you know lock picking?”

“Don’t even ask Ace, you don’t need to know..” Deuce muttered before getting the door open and giving a smirk of pride to Ace. 

With the door cracked open they listened to what they could, which was not much when the door suddenly swung open and both teens stared at the tall teal-haired man in front of them. He gave them a polite smile but it was laced with a form of sadistic anger, he bent down a bit to loom over them and asked. “Can I help you gentlemen with something?”

Both of them sputtered and started blabbering out excuses when Trey came over and carefully moved Jade to the side a bit and scolded the two. “Guys, this is an important meeting, you’re lucky that Riddle is occupied, if you want to keep your jobs you’ll leave now.”

There was no need for further convincing as they ran off, leaving Jade and Trey at the door to watch them, only then the heterochromia twin chuckled softly and commented to Trey. “You always have such entertaining employees, it’s a shame they can’t join the meeting.”
