do yall ever think about bruce/batman!clone danny standing in front of his bathroom mirror after finding out he was a clone and silently tracing his face. The slope of his jaw and point of his chin. The high angle of his cheekbones and the shape of his eyes, the curve of his brow bones and the shape of his nose. The volume of his hair and the way it curls and gets fluffy when it gets too long.

His hair is black the same way a crow's wing is black. His dad's hair is black the same way a black bear's fur is black. His dad's eyes are blue like the ocean is blue. Danny's eyes are blue the same way a glacier is blue.

His dad has a square jaw and straight flat hair, and he tans and gets a face full of freckles when he's out in the sun for too long. Danny burns like a lobster and his face remains untouched. Danny has a sharp jaw and tall cheekbones, and Sam says when he's not smiling there's almost something regal about him. You would never call Jack Fenton "regal" when he's not smiling.

Sam says when he's not smiling he looks scary the same way a stone statue is. Jack Fenton when he's not smiling looks scary the same way that german shepherd staring at you across the street is.

Do you ever think he grew up wondering if he was adopted. Because of course, he has black hair and blue eyes like his dad. But having the same color doesn't make you someone's child.

Or, worse, things he's heard from the other kids and the other parents and even some of his teachers growing up; that he was the product of an affair. And that his dad was just too stupid to notice. And Danny would defend his parents until the day he died, because Jack Fenton wasn't an idiot and Maddie Fenton wasn't a cheater.

But doubt comes in with fickle tongue. his parents swear up and down that he is their child when he asks about either. That Danny just had his grandparents' features, but he was their son and they loved him.

But Danny doesn't look like either of his parents. His mom's eyes are blue like an aquamarine and Jazz's too. And they burn like lobsters in the sun too, but Jazz gets freckles on her face and so does Maddie. And as Danny grows up he doesn't bulk up or get stocky like his dad did, and when he hits puberty he doesn't shoot up like a tree like Jack Fenton did.

He stays small, and they say he's a late bloomer (and he is), or that he just has his mom's height. But he's fast and has good stamina, and some days it feels like he's built entirely different from his family. That the things they went through growing up just didn't apply to him. Jack and Maddie Fenton both had acne and breakouts when they hit puberty, and Jazz inherits it and he's seen the amount of skincare products she keeps on her side of the bathroom.

And then he hits puberty and breaks out maybe once or twice, but his skin stays clear for the most part and the problems and changes his dad went through just don't happen to him.

And the truth is worse than all of the lies.

I was reviewing s1 again and I think two major questions I had in regard to Yingdu/Bridon arc got answered. I can't remember if there were any other strange inconsistencies, but these two moments that I thought were inconsistent actually aren't.

Moment #1: The name change to Time Photo Studio

Yeah this one is a minor one and it's on me for not paying attention to the scene, but at first I was confused about when the name change occurred - it's obviously Time Photo Studio in season 1, but in Yingdu, it's Hero Photo Studio. The scene where Qiao Ling asks about the name change happens at the very end of Yingdu, but is a skip-forward to the end of season 2. Because they were fixing up the photo studio again, I got confused and thought he only changed the name after s2, which is weird because it was Time Photo Studio all throughout season 1. Anyways, that wasn't the case and I was mistaken. Qiao Ling was just asking - Cheng Xiaoshi changed the name after he came back from Bridon. She even outright says that.

QL: "By the way, why did you suddenly decide to change the name to "Time Photo Studio" after coming back from Bridon?"

Moment #2: Cheng Xiaoshi clapping his own hands to enter photos

This confused me immensely when I first watched Yingdu. If Cheng Xiaoshi discovered his ability by clapping his own hands together, then why did he seem to need to "rediscover" that in season 1? It's not like he would've forgotten.

Well, after going back through the scene, I realized that's not what was going on. The dialogue where Cheng Xiaoshi asks Lu Guang what would happen if he clapped his own hands together reads like this:

LG: "Our abilities complement each other. You can exist in the time and space of photos, but only under the premise of a high-five."

CXS: "Is there no other way?"

LG: "Unfortunately, that's the only way."

CXS: "Then, what if I high-five myself and enter the photo..."

LG: "You'll lose contact with me. If that happens, you won't know anything about what will happen in the photos."

If you look at the dialogue, you'll realize that Cheng Xiaoshi is not asking about whether he can dive into the photo by himself, but about what would happen if he did. When he sits in front of the security camera footage of Liu Min, he's not unsure about whether he can dive, he's weighing the consequences of having no guide (and decided it should be alright, since he'd be entering as himself and not another person).

Shouldn't he remember this from Yingdu arc though, with his first dive? Well, two points there. First, the experience was highly stressful and he had no idea what was going on - this makes the conversation above something of a clarification. Second, he's establishing whether or not the high-five is what's necessary for them to be connected, or whether it is the act of diving itself - he likely just wasn't totally sure, and wanted to confirm.

joe'marr bengals reunion — a (somewhat) comprehensive timeline

1 — “have you spoken to the cincinnati bengals and what would it mean to reunite with joe burrow there?” — “i have talked to the bengals. i don’t know how many times i’ve talked to them though. but, me and joe, you know, i wouldn’t mind going back with joe. if we go back together we’re trying to do nothing but get back our chemistry and have some more fun.”

2 — “i'm really excited for this draft. i don't really know what's coming but, you know, if me and joe could get back to it... i’d love to have some fun with him again.”

3 — “i assume you'd be okay with a potential reunion in cincinnati if that were to happen?" — "yeah, i wouldn’t mind.”

4 — “me and joe talked about [a reunion] maybe like three, four times actually. we talked about it a good bit of times. he texted me this morning, just letting me know: ‘get your bags packed’, so i guess that meant that was gonna be the pick. i don’t know if that was a hint or what. so, he sent me that little text this morning, i was like ‘okay… i'm ready, bro’.”

5 — “what was your reaction like when he was lowkey recruiting you?” — “i actually was believing him sometimes, sometimes i was like ‘stop playing with me’ and sometimes i was just like ‘okay bro, i gotcha, i'm ready now’ so. i believed him this morning when he told me, you know, pack my bags. so that's when i finally was like: ‘yeah he might really be calling this’ so that's when i took his word.”

6 – “jimmy burrow, did joe tell you—he’s always been kind of coy about what he said to the bengals—did joe tell you that he wanted the bengals to select ja’marr?” — “yes, i think we figured that… and eventually… yes, he pretty much told us that he wanted ja’marr.”

7 — “it was like a week before the draft, ja'marr said: ‘dad, joe texted me.’ […] he didn't say what he said, you know. but he said: ‘joe just texted me’, [...] so he had talked to joe like... or texted with joe once or twice that week. and then he told me, he said: ‘dad, if i get with joe, we're gonna kill’ [...] so he was all excited about getting with joe.”

8 — “what was the first thing joe texted you when you got drafted by the bengals?” — “make sure your bag's packed and ready. yeah, that was what he told me.”

9 — “the cincinnati bengals are on the clock now. earlier that morning, i had got a text from joe. he said: hope your bags are packed. i know it's me, at the moment, that's what i'm saying to myself. i can't wait to be a part of it.”

people who not see themselves as disabled, people who view self n this world through able bodied lens, (even if they themselves fit definition of disabled and/or chronic illness or other chronic medical issues with chronic symptoms), to them everything is just like curable cold. they understand world through lens of their cold - mild curable cold with no lasting effects.

eventually you recover from cold. you cure from cold. you no longer have cold symptoms. it just phase. all (yes, all, even __) medical conditions, include disability & chronic conditions, after weeks or months or a year or three or generously, five, it will be gone. they cannot fathom something that permanent. they may logically, consciously when remember, on paper, say or know that certain disabilities & illnesses no cure, n will protest n pout n cry wolf n say you purposely painting them be ableist when you point out they don’t actually fully believe it, but. it not actually, fully, truly, be part of their subconscious or unconscious world view. n it shows.

n if you take longer than amount time they decide is appropriate to recover n be cure of your “cold,” they must find way to integrate that into their “all medical things will end” world view without have to adjust it. so you’re: not trying hard enough, because if you did you would be recovered, cured, it be ended. because their cold ended. their cousin twice removed’s “very bad illness that lasted very long time” ended, because they “tried all method there is,” so they heard.

or you bad attitude. you not want it cured. you faking. whatever mental gymnastic creative reason that rock my world.

you not recovered like them, it a *you* problem, it a *individual* you problem, because you didn’t do some *actionable action* (not try hard enough, etc) or you did too much of it (faked it, etc). difference between you n them is, well, they did it, they did all personally actionable action (take some day easy, sip tea, maybe take some cold medicine, but honestly if they did none of that, would still recover just fine). while you inconvenienced them, including by existing in front their eyes.

your actionable action, if even have one: move this fucking goddamn mountain to other side of earth

you not cured, you problem, you didn’t do something right. you not able afford treatment, you problem. there not treatment, you problem, you not trying hard enough find one. doctor dismiss you, you problem, you did something cause this. they themselves not listen to you? you problem, geez why so sensitive n explosive.

because admit anything other than that. will disrupt their world, complete shake their world view. n must not have that. so, be ostrich bury head in sand to avoid incoming predators.

n somehow it always compare to mild cold that recover after few days with no leftover effects, or similar (specific illness not matter as long as it fit), but never their own chronic back pain, or their parent’s high blood pressure, or heart problems, or the problems that “just a part of life” n excluded from consideration. aging people aging, old people old, they deal with aging n old people issues, not disabled issues.

but. they not just need believe that all medical things will end. “cured” is bad way put it because it imply there definite, clear, visible end. for something to end there need be something exist/existed for it to end. your medical thing not just need to end, but it need not exist in first place. it need be erased from past - not just erased but also erase fact that it erased. forget fact that they “forgot.” cut segment off paper strip n glue ends together, n that segment never existed.

just like their cold came n gone. clean.

not like those with post-viral conditions. (shh, they don’t exist)

recover from cancer. become person who never had cancer. become back to version of you before you had cancer (if even have or remember one… which everyone do. obviously [sarcasm]). they don’t even know they don’t know you may have variety of emotional psychological or physical leftover things from it.

n write to now, realize it not accurate contribute it to just people who view self n thus world through able bodied lens. nor non-disabled lens. but it societal view, so non-disabled n disabled n everyone in between n beyond, all have it to some degree. saw it in how one neurodivergent person treat another with physical disabilities, saw it in how one with physical disability treat another with different physical disability diagnosis, saw it in how one with one disability treat another with same disability. disabled people not immune to it just by virtue of be medically disabled, or even when also disabled as social & political identity. because to unlearn this it a conscious, constant effort you never done with. but just, oh, when you view self n thus world through able bodied &/ nondisabled lens n never once thought to challenge it because why would you, this so obvious in you.
