“books-are-my-life-stuff: I think the fact that none of the adaptations that feature Zinnia could agree who Aster was really said a lot. In the manga she seemed to be Zinnia's friend, but in Evolutions she appeared much older, like she's her big sister or her mother, or maybe her teacher.  All that we knew is that she held Lorekeeper position before Zinnia, and someone important to her. Yeah, some parts are left unclear and instead of making us curious, it just ended up confusing and incomplete.“
Which would be fine, if it wasn’t like...such a major part of her.  Who the original Aster was seems pretty important to her current motivations, but we know literally nothing about them.
“books-are-my-life-stuff: The Delta Episode ended up being overly complicated, and had too many plotholes to resolve. Maybe if it already started since the beginning of the game, slowly implemented within the original plot then the postgame part was reserved for the climax, it could have been better. Maybe if it was given more space to expand its plot and additional info it could be better, but yeah it didn't happen, and felt very rushed+messy+confusing all at once.  It's a shame. I think Delta Episode's plot was pretty interesting on paper, and Zinnia is also a very cool character. Oh well, at least Masters gave her the justice she deserved.“
Honestly, I think part of the issue is the pivot to the meteor thing.  Look, I love me some Deoxys, and getting mythicals added as an option to just catch rules.  But I think Zinnia’s inclusion would been best if this were a single game like Emerald, rather than trying to pull Ruby/Sapphire plot.  Have Zinnia reveal herself after the beast awakens, and announce her plan to save the world then, since Steven and the team bosses are floundering at this point.  You still go to Sootopolis to meet with Wallace, but now to pull in the Sky Tower.  That’s where you do your stuff with Zinnia, and the call for Rayquaza to save them.  Have it stop the beast prior to its Primal Reversion, and let the unlocking of that happen just in the player’s hands after the incident.  Let Zinnia “win” in that sense.  Then you can jump into Delta Episode, where you actually have context for Rayquaza.  A big frustration is that Zinnia vaguely hints at you knowing things about the lore that are literally impossible to know without having played before.  Establishing that in advance, then jumping into this stuff with the meteor, gives the player a bit more context about Rayquaza and what it does, and the buildup is now that Rayquaza, like the other two, has a more powerful form that Zinnia is trying to unleash.  You’d be able to follow that angle of the story a lot easier, and could spend less time in Delta Episode with vague exposition while running around, and still end the same way.
Delta Episode is one of those things where, at the time, I remember overall kinda liking it on the grounds that it was cool.  Riding Rayquaza into space to fight Deoxys?  This shit rules.  But the fetch quests and the lore dump that isn’t clear, and multiverse establishment, and the basically everything else...it grew tired on repeat playthroughs.  And it admittedly cuts some of the tension when you can just whip a Master Ball at Deoxys’ face and end the whole sequence in two seconds.  But that’s more an issue of Pokemon mechanics than anything it specifically did wrong.

What if Pokémon Legends went on to other Regions?
This has been a topic of the Pokémon fandom for awhile. With the announcement of Pokémon Legends: Arceus not too long ago, many fans are anticipating and speculating the future of this ambitious side series.
Being able to not only witness, learn and partake in the legends that shape both the regions and Legendary Pokémon, leaves much room for creativity.
This is all merely speculation.
Here's my take for how any future Pokémon Legends games could play out.
Pokémon Legends: Mew
Set about roughly 20 years before the events of Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow, the elusive Mew makes an appearance in the Kanto Region.
This prompts many scientists to want to study and catch the original Pokémon, foreshadowing the creation of Mewtwo and the Ditto.
You, the player, are taken under the wing of a much younger Professor Oak, with the Gen 1 Gym Leaders also showing up to lend a hand.
As the plot focuses on you tracking down Mew before various criminals and an older Team Rocket, try to for their own nefarious purposes. Helping Professor Oak invent the Pokédex and with his research.
Gene splicing and gene testing on Pokémon grew after the War LT. Surge fought in, with an older Team Rocket using it to their advantage.
This Team Rocket being a much bigger criminal organization, before the player took them down and a smaller one appeared in Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow.
A younger Giovanni is also present, as the player gets to know the man that would go on to lead present day Team Rocket. He's a friend to the player... for now, giving some insight on who he was beforehand and show how he took over the criminal organization, setting up the events Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow.
Mew's appearance in the Kanto region, inspires him to the point of illegal gene testing on Pokémon.
As a nod to Pokémon first debuting in 1996, the game takes on a more of a late 60s to mid 70s aesthetic, so it feels like the player is shaping the legends that set up Gen 1 of Pokémon.
Plus Kanto in the Legends artstyle would be mindblowing. And take inspiration from 60s to 70s Japan.
In addition, to avoid looking too similar to Pokémon Legends: Arceus. Being more of a modern era Japan region, than a Meiji period Japan inspired region. While following in said game's footsteps, by focusing on the secondary legendary than the main one (Mewtwo).
The starters would be Chikorita (Gen 1 is about Nature vs Technology), Torchic (Peace and War aesthetic) and Popplio (60s to 70s definitely saw a rise in many famous and popular musicians).
Pokémon Legends: Celebi
Ever wonder the origins of the Legendary Beasts: Raikou, Suicine and Entei?
What they were before they were killed in Brass Tower revived by Ho-Oh? How Ho-Oh came down and choose them, saving their lives? The sea Lugia stays in the deep for? The early days of Johto? The ruins of Alpha in the past? The early days of the Kimino Girls?
Well now you, the player, do now! ...sort of. As the title of the game implies, the player meets and befriends Celebi and gets to see many of these events via time travel.
Not only would this include a huge mechanic separate from other Legends games, but it would be the most unique in how it could be approached. As Nintendo is no stranger to time travel games (e.g. Majora's Mask) that impact both the plot and gameplay.
Time travel tends to create stories that are very confusing or very heartwrenching. Or both. But I have no doubt it would be the latter.
It also leaves room for many side quests.
Starters would be Bulbasaur (Time is all about growth), Scorbunny (Bunny Rabbits are not only a common symbol in the older days of Japan, but of Spring much like Ho-Oh) and Froakie (ninjas were more prevalent during this time period, as they slowly faded out).
Pokémon Legends: Jirachi
1000 years before the events of Pokémon Emerald, (Omega) Ruby and (Alpha) Sapphire, chaos raged across the ancient Hoenn Region, between two legendary Pokémon: Groudon and Kyogre. The Draconid people hope and pray for the arrival of Rayquaza to save the Hoenn Region itself.
This is where the player steps in: in order for all this chaos to end, the wishes of the people must be heard. And the only Pokémon capable of that is Jirachi.
The player would go around helping wishes be granted, traveling and training Pokémon along the way.
An ancestor of Zinnia also makes an appearance as a friend and rival of the player.
To maintain the wishes and stars aesthetic, Deoxys also makes an appearance with its origin being explored. Being able to explore space itself, meeting Pokémon said to have an "alien" origin, like Elgyem and Beheeyem.
Latios and Latias can also be caught, flying on them just like in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire.
The meteor that would hit the future Sootopolis is what awakened Groudon and Kyogre, said Meteor containing Deoxys. Setting up the game's plot.
Since it's roughly 1000 years before the Gen 3 Pokémon games, Hoenn resembles and takes inspiration from Japan during the Heian period.
The starters would be Turtwig (Theme of continents being at stake), Chimchar (Japanese and Chinese relations) and Totodile (sea monster symbolism, which is often associated with crocodiles and related animals).
Pokémon Legends: The Dragon
Two Princes, of Galar origin, known as the "Twin Heroes" share the power of an unimaginable Legendary Dragon. Bringing Truth and Ideals to the people of Unova. They live and lead from Relic Castle.
You, the player, are a friend of the princes and over the course of the game, your alliance with them changes. Struggling to choose between Truth or Ideals. Serving as a major story mechanic.
A feud and disagreement between the Princes happen, with the player being caught in the middle and to try to quell the anger of the Dragon.
In addition to finally seeing Reshiram and Zekrom before they split, Victini is also present with the Swords of Justice Pokémon (Cobalion, Virizion, and Terrakion), the Forces of Nature (Tornadus, Thundurus, and Landorus) and even Meloetta tries to raise people's spirits.
Team Plasma's origins are alluded to, with the army of the Princes baring an odd resemblance to the future evil team.
The game has more of a wild western aesthetic since Unova is based on New York. Think late 18th century America. With horseback riding on Pokémon like Zebstrika and Rapidash, bandits and criminals that try to steal your Pokémon and being able to explore Unova in its entirety.
Or perhaps roaring 20s to 30s America. If that setting sounds more vibrant and close to the Unova of Gen 5. This is all still speculation.
You even get to ride Keldeo in a later part of the game.
The starters would be Chespin (Chesnaught is based on a Glyptodon; fossils were found in South America), Litten (Wrestling is popular in New York) and Mudkip (mudpuppies are found in Lake Michigan).
Pokémon Legends: Diancie
Set after the Kalos War, you the player are caught in the middle of it going off to fight with your Pokémon. Hoping to make a difference as the Professor (ancestor of Professor Sycamore) takes you under his wing. And hoping to help the war turned world that is Kalos.
Yveltal and Xernas have both gone into slumber, with Zygarde needing to be restored to at least 50% (player can go to 100%), so the world of Kalos can be healed from this war.
The main game focuses on Diancie: since Diancie is the Pokémon of diamonds, the war has forced soldiers and leaders to exhaust the many resources of the Kalos region. Particularly precious stones and diamonds.
The player befriends Diancie later in the game as the two work together to bring an end the greedy hearts of those involved.
The game resembles France during the 100 Years War, with the player character even having armor as part of their attire. Due to Kalos being based off of France, roughly Middle Ages or Medieval France in this game's case.
AZ also makes a few appearances in the game, racked with grief over firing the Ultimate Weapon, mostly keeping to himself over the game's plot.
As a new gameplay mechanic, the player can befriend other trainers to amass armies to overcome many challenges, like beating other armies and crossing obstacles.
Volcanion and Hoopa are also present in the game and can be caught.
The origins of Mega Evolutions are expanded on, with the player getting their hands on some Mega Stones. Due to the energy of the Ultimate Weapon.
The starters would be Snivy (said Pokémon is based on French nobility), Piplup (Empoleon is based off of Emperors and can be a nod to Napoleon) and Charmander (Charizard is based off of European Dragons).
Pokémon Legends: Marshadow
Set in the ancient Aloha region, when Tribes followed the Tapu Pokémon, you the player find yourself stranded in this intriguing region.
Ultra space wormholes begin opening across the region and its up to the player to figure out why and how to stop them. Even being able to traverse the Ultra Megalopolis in its entirety.
Necrozma is up to it and the player must learn why. With Marshadow playing a bigger role, since most of its origin is shrouded in mystery, so this would be a great opportunity to explore those origins.
Along with the origins of the Z-Crystals.
The game has more of an ancient Polynesian world, seeing as how Aloha is based of Hawaii. Being able to sail to smaller islands and even catch Pokémon while doing so.
The starters would be Grookey (drums are a popular musical instrument in the tropics), Sobble (chameleons are native to Hawaii) and Tepig (pigs have been brought to Polynesian Islands in the past).
Pokémon Legends: Zarude
3000 years, before the events of Pokémon Sword and Shield, a black storm covers the very region itself. This black storm causes Pokémon to randomly Dynamax and Gigantamax. Many live in fear of what the next day brings, as hope of a better day seems like only a naive dream.
The player joins with many Pokémon researchers (some being ancestors of familiar faces in Pokémon Sword and Shield), in order to track down the source of this chaos.
Zarude comes in as he helps providing with resources from various forests, so less Pokémon and people are harmed. Or worse.
The player believes tracking down Zarude, will lead them to stopping this madness (Eternatus).
The game looks much like 13th to 14th century Britain, in much of the fashion of characters and even dealing with the equivalent of a plague. Ironically enough.
The starters are Treecko (Forest theme and light in the dark theme in contrast to the Darkest Days), Fenniken (Magicians are a common Middle Ages motif) and Squirtle (Cannons were first invented in Europe, around this time period).

v3 Pokemon Team Headcanons
Partially for my own use so I don’t forget what I come up with before I draw them, but figured it would be nice to share them. Most of the ones do not include SW/SH ones since I don’t know too much about the game, unless I thought they really fit the character well.
-Rantaro has a lot of Pokemon from different regions and has acquired a few fossil Pokemon while traveling:
Lapras (who he rides on)
Aerodactyl (can Mega Evolve, but he doesn’t do it often)
Alolan Vulpix
Oddly enough, a Kangaskhan (his sisters are a big fan of her and have tried to ride in her pouch)
Gallade
Dhelmise (who resides by his ship when it’s not in use)
He also has an Oddish that was given as a gag gift from Kokichi due to it vaguely resembling his hair.
-Kaede has a lot of musically inclined and sweet-natured Pokemon, such as:
Chatot
Primarina
Altaria (can Mega Evolve)
Plusle (who is best friends with Shuichi’s Minun)
Jigglypuff (who has definitely caused some problems at a concert)
Blissey
She has also managed to befriend Meloetta, to everyone’s astonishment.
-Kaito has a lot of Rock-type Pokemon, and has made it his personal mission to go into space to see and catch Deoxys. No one knows how he’s going to accomplish that, but they humor him when he’s poring over meteors in a museum.
Lunatone
Solrock
Minior (purple)
One (1) very fiery-tempered female Mankey he named after Maki. Kaito was promptly whooped by both of them for making the comment about their names. (Mankey...Maki...if you say it fast enough they sound similar!!)
Starmie
Maki has also given Kaito a male Litleo that has evolved into a Pyroar.
-Himiko has a few Psychic or Ghost type Pokemon that help her in her maaagic shows:
Mismagius
Hattena
Klefki
Komala (often found dozing off together)
Braixen
Alakazam (can Mega Evolve) (who she’ll use sometimes to get Kokichi to stop whatever he’s doing with its psychic powers)
Tenko has given her a Stufful from her Bewear’s egg! She finds it very cute but doesn’t use it in shows since it doesn’t like being on stage.
-Gonta is ALL ABOUT THE BUGS. B U G S  G A L O R E. He’d definitely be a bug-type breeder in the Pokemon universe:
Heracross (can Mega Evolve)
Beautifly
Dustox
Pinsir and Scyther (which look a lot scarier than they actually are, like their trainer. Unlike Gonta at times, they can smell Kokichi’s BS a mile away and try to scare him away when he’s up to no good.)
Wimpod (who Gonta is patiently working on confidence with)
Lurantis (baited..,,He was pretty disappointed initially when it wasn’t a bug type, but he couldn’t say no to how pretty it was!)
-Tsumugi has Pokemon that like mimicking things and can help her in competitions, so that includes:
Ditto (ability is Imposter!)
Zoroark
Mr. Mime
The sassiest, most vain female Meowstic the world has seen with an unusual liking for Shuichi’s Meowstic
Cosplay Pikachu (a fan favorite)
Also, I can see her have a Malamar or some other Dark type?
-Like Miu, Kiibo also has mostly Electric and Steel-types that can help him if he ever shorts out. He’s tried to get some non-Electric or Steel types, but they really seem to be attracted to him wherever he goes...
Klink
Electivire
Aron (who promptly tried chewing on him when they first met)
Magnezone
Ampharos (can Mega Evolve)
Tynamo (Miu gave him an egg from her Eelektross)
-Tenko’s team is 1 0 0% f e m a l e. Nothing more, nothing less:
Mienshao (her pride and joy)
Riolu
Medicham (a gift from Himiko as a Meditite, can Mega Evolve)
Tsareena (who CAN and WILL kick your teeth out)
Nidoqueen (gets into fights with Kokichi’s Nidoking over who is The Superior Nido)
Bewear (often used to hug Himiko, to the latter’s chagrin at times)
-Ryoma straight up only has cat Pokemon that he doesn’t really use to battle:
Glameow
Espurr
Purrloin (who has a bad habit of pickpocketing)
Skitty
Both Alolan and Kantonian Persians. (Yes, they have the smuggest smirks on their faces. They know they’ve got the best trainer.)
Torracat
But he also has Voltorb that strangely enough, enjoys being smacked by a tennis racquet.
-Miu has a few Steel and Electric-types for helping her inventions, but also has ones that she personally finds cute:
Klinklang
Eelektross
Smoochum
Rotom (with all the motors! Kirumi’s Cinccino does not get along with it because it often masks as some of the household appliances)
Salazzle (has definitely used the pheromones for her inventions)
Octillery
-Kokichi, as expected, has a lot of purple prankster Pokemon, so mostly Ghost and Dark:
LIEpard
Shiny Zorua (matches Shuichi’s Shiny Umbreon and wreaks havoc when it turns into Umbreon, since they’re both Shiny)
Gengar (can Mega Evolve)
Sableye (ability is of course, Prankster)
Crobat (Even though he’s a Supreme Leader, the high friendship stat is proof that he is a kind person at heart..!)
NidoKING
For Ryoma’s birthday, he gave an egg from his Liepard. Rantaro has also given him a Stunfisk after Kokichi kept commenting on how it was the funniest Pokemon he’s seen (a most grievous mistake, as Kokichi has started putting it in inconvenient places that most people step on)
-Korekiyo has more spiritual/folklore-esque Ghost Pokemon on his team, but also has some old fossil or archaeological ones he keeps in and out of rotation on his trips. Ghost type Pokemon seem to follow him wherever he goes...
Sigilyph, Baltoy, Spiritomb, and Relicanth are in rotation
Yanmask
Litwick
Banette (can Mega Evolve)
Doublade
Froslass (based off the yuki-onna)
Roserade
Kirumi has given him a Dratini egg from her Dragonair, since it’s a fairly rare Pokemon that he was interested in studying at the time.
-Kirumi does not have a specific type preference, but rather ones that fit the practicality of her talent and aesthetic:
Shiny Gardevoir (can Mega Evolve)
Dragonair
Milotic
Cinccino (loves to clean and 100% helps her out when she’s sweeping the dorms. Has beef with Kokichi and Miu’s Pokemon at all times)
Ariados (which Kokichi hates, but Gonta loves and dotes on)
Serperior (infamous for its Resting Mom Face that shuts everyone up with its Glare move)
She also has a Glalie from a Snorunt that Korekiyo has given her (sorry gotta plug the subtle ship.) It has a mischievous streak of hanging out in the refrigerator and freezer box.
-Maki favors Dark types that can help her like:
Bisharp (has threatened to use Guillotine on Kokichi and Kaito numerous times)
Houndoom (can Mega Evolve)
Sneasel
Mightyena (has also threatened to bite Kokichi and Kaito)
Sharpedo
Alolan Marowak (who Kaito and Kokichi has been a victim of clubbing a few times)
Indeedee (Female, exclusively used when she babysits)
(They look scary, but they’re all actually big softies. Kaito’s also given her a female Litleo so they can match, and a Togepi--)
-Angie has whimsical and art-inspired ones to fit her talent and personality such as:
Spinda (she draws inspiration from its movements)
Ludicolo
Oricorio (Sensu)
Xatu (they 100% share visions together)
Smeargle
Golurk (statue!)
Angie also has a Whimsicott with the ability Prankster that she rotates out every now and then.
-Shuichi probably has mostly dark types, but overall has Pokemon that can help him on his investigations:
Shiny Umbreon
Espeon (came from the same parent as his Umbreon, they are inseparable)
Midnight Lycanroc
Minun (best friends with Kaede’s Plusle)
Absol (can Mega Evolve)
A rather timid Meowstic (M) that enjoys stealing his hat so much he had Tsumugi make a mini one for his Pokemon. Tsumugi’s Meowstic is unhealthily obsessed with his Meowstic.

USUM Did Bad - Necrozma
I can't believe USUM made me like Necrozma LESS.  Maybe it's a good thing they never tried to do anything else with Zygarde...
I will address my grievances in three parts: the two Necrozma forms we knew about, the one we didn't, and its story relevance.
Starting with the two new forms: I generally like them!  But much like Kyurem, I'm not as invested in the idea that their new form is basically just taking the strengths of the thing they absorbed.  The forms are pretty cool-looking, but ultimately not engaging enough, or even distinct enough from Kyurem, to be all it had.
Maybe they knew this.  Maybe that's why they did what they did.  I will never truly know.  But I know they messed up, because Ultra Necrozma is terrible.   Let's start with this: STOP MAKING DRAGONS AS YOUR LEGENDS.  I know the standard thing for a while was to complain about Psychic types, but there are fewer of those as box legend trios than there are Dragons by this point, by a fairly huge margin even.  So it getting a Dragon typing automatically sucks ass.  Doubly so because there goes literally any chance of helping stop the menace that is Xerneas and its bullshit hyper boosting move.  But it's also just...not interesting.  The design is obnoxious, and it's honestly too standard a dragon to be interesting.   Necrozma's weird, alien armor design in its base form is really interesting, and having it fuse itself to Lunala/Solgaleo as armor that takes control is a great concept!  But Ultra Necrozma?  It just...exists.  It's a bright dragon thing designed to just look cool and do nothing.  "But it used to have light!"  Yes, and there were all sorts of ways to accomplish that, but very few involved turning it into a hard-to-look-at glowing standard dragon monster.  It's not. that. interesting.
But then there's story.  I complained about the Ultra Recon Squad, and similar complaints exist here.  Necrozma is the focal point of this story.  But it didn't have to be this way.   Necrozma is not even a threat.  It's sealed away, until the Ultra Recon Squad can find a way to pacify it and regain their light.  Your world is completely unaffected until Lusamine tries to handle it without a plan. Necrozma is a literal non-issue, until the story contrives it into being a problem.  I really think that, when the world you established has no relation to the threat you're building up, there's a problem.  Why should we care?  Why would anyone care?  Necrozma is, quite literally, not our problem.  But moreover, as the new thing, it takes over everything else.  Necrozma is made the center so hard that everything else is dropped.  Lusamine and Lillie's confrontation?   Gone. Lusamine's demonstration as a villain?  Gone, and replaced with some nonsense about her attempting to be heroic and fix both worlds, which falls flat because she's only doing this to take control and keep Necrozma for herself, but nevermind that Lillie and she talked it out and it's fine now!  Even the Ultra Recon Squad gets tossed aside, and they're supposed to be the ones developing.  At no point does the Ultra Recon Squad learn to take on their own responsibilities and follow through.  At no point do they develop as characters.  Instead, Necrozma shows up, is a threat, you as the protagonist do all the work and everyone's like "Oh man, you're so good!" while they twiddle their thumbs. Necrozma is to blame for this.  And it's because, for whatever reason, they seem to think that a cool final boss Pokemon is the only thing they need. Worked for Delta Episode, right?  Who didn't love riding Mega-Rayquaza through a meteor to fight the mutated space virus within?
Actually, I do know someone, and their complaint is similar to another of my Necrozma complaints.  In ORAS, Deoxys was hard to catch, done after Rayquaza, and so it was damn near impossible to guarantee good natures and IVs for both.  You basically had to choose which was more important.  Battle is still a problem with Necrozma, but it's worse.  Ultra Necrozma is fast.  In a game where most things are slow.  It also gets the totem power to boost all stats 1 stage, because I guess they decided that difficulty had to mean giving significant power boosts to a single thing, rather than carefully created teams?   Complaints for later.  The point is, Ultra Necrozma is stupid powerful, stupid fast, made 50% stronger across the board, and has an ability that increases super-effective damage on top of its absurdly good coverage. Basically, you're using a Loto Power to get all your stats boosted too, or you're Revive-cycling.  Guess what isn't fun.  Anything to do with that.
In summation: Necrozma went from an enigmatic and cool-looking alien creature to a standard dragon with a terrible color to look at.  The fight was frustrating and boring, and probably just existed because they thought this was difficult and everyone would think difficult means it's a cool final battle, proving they don't know what they're doing.  They tossed aside their entire cast of characters, and regressed characterization from the previous games to an unspeakable degree, all to play up that Necrozma is a Super Cool Dude and everyone should like him. Their every effort with this thing failed, and it's made so much worse by the things they cut out to make the attempt.
Long story short: Necrozma is now my least-favorite third member of a triad, and that's really sad.
