happy first day of spring semester. i was late to my first class, asked to be removed from the waitlist and was told to wait a week or two (so no i will not be removed) and now im hiding in a bathroom stall before my next class to try and breathe through my emotions privately. will reblog with updates about how the other things i have to do today that are anxiety inducing go.

I’m sure all of you noticed my week-long absence, or didn’t…

Anyways, do I have a funny story for all of you that at the time was absolutely traumatizing and terrifying. Sit back, relax, get a drink and make sure to not spill it all over your PC as I tell you the tale of how I almost lost everything...

So, I have an extremely expensive laptop that I use for everything and do not remember a life without. That laptop contains every digital thing I have ever owned on it, from phone pictures, to drawing templates, to my entire 1000-file fully animated character that is organized in 50 folders and took about 256 hours to make. You can see where this is going, right?

So, by Sunday the 22nd, I was already experiencing extreme burnout because everyone does, right before summer, am I right? I mean, what better time to strike an innocent guy with a disaster, right Devil?

I decided to take a break from doing anything for two days after Sunday, and then, BAM, disaster! On Tuesday, I had finally started feeling better, and I remember sitting down on my office chair with my vitamin water. I was typing on a Microsoft Word document when I reached over carefully to get my drink, and I tipped it over and tried to grab it but that only made it launch across my keyboard and spill all over my Razer keyboard, Logitech mouse, HDMI plugs connected to my monitor, multi plug adapter, multi plug adapter beneath my table, my laptop keyboard and somehow the wifi adapter inside my laptop. All that equipment right there cost at least 3,000$, and I started twilighting hard if you know what I mean.

Long story short, I used a blowdryer on all of my stuff, and next thing I know, my laptop wont turn on anymore. Can you imagine the amount of dread and panic I must have felt at that moment? All of that work possibly gone forever all of a sudden. Fortunately, my laptop didn’t explode and didn’t start smoking, so there was a chance I could prevent a trip to BestBuy. Two huge sacks of rice later, my laptop is completely covered and ready to dry for the next two days. Unfortunately, I forgot to take any pictures because I was sure it was toast. Can you imagine two days of anxious waiting to receive potential news that you may never play on those unsaved Minecraft worlds again? Never see those dumb pictures of you as a kid again? And never see all of that artwork you worked on in the highest possible quality again?

Two days later, I took the laptop out and found that it was able to be turned on. I had already bought one of those storage devices and immediately started transferring all of the laptop’s files so that I would never lose them if an accident like this ever happened again. Of course, there are still consequences to spilling vitamin water all over your electronics:

My wifi adapter broke, and my laptop could no longer use wifi at all. I had to get a new one, and now the internet on the laptop is way slower.

My laptop charger broke, and I had to buy a new one.

My multi plug adapter broke, and now I have to get a new one.

My laptop keyboard is extremely sticking and is very hard to type on without an adaptor keyboard.

My laptop can no longer turn off while it’s plugged into a charger. I have no idea how to fix this, and I think I’m going to have to live with it.

There is FREAKING rice rattling inside my laptop. HOW DID IT GET IN THERE? HOW DO I GET IT OUT?

I couldn’t post anything on Tumblr for a long time. I’m so sorry, everyone! Thanks for bearing with me!

Moral of the story: Electronics and water don't mix.

Autistic looking to Start a Business: 

Employment has been allusive thanks to the issues that Autism brings on. Being chronically unemployed for that last couple of years. I have come to the conclusion. I have to start a business. As to relive this issue and give me economic independence and life style independence. As part of this I had to find what I was good at and not so great at. I have come to the conclusion I need to make a small technology business. My talents lend to fixing, trouble shooting and maintaining computers, smartphones, 3D Printers, networking among other things. I hope you will help bring my dream to life. The Business idea: 

This idea is to run a technology clinic. Think of a medical clinics you see on wheels that go from location to location to provide basic medial care on demand. I would  want do this with technology. Do this in a RV similar to the GMC like above or a Airstream Motorhome. The all metal versions they made up to 1996. I would operate out of this. Traveling in and around the greater Kitsap County. Fixing peoples tech. Helping them add tech to their businesses or daily lives. Like setting up cameras. Fixing laptops, desktops and smartphones. It matches well with the gig economy we have now. I could provide services on demand that BestBuy's Geek squad can't provide. Nor any other local computer business in my area. As they are still stuck in using the retail store model based in a retail space of some kind. Like a mall or department store, or name your location. My hours of business can also adapt to what my customers need and want. One day they may not need me for a whole lot of hours. The next day. It might be the extreme opposite and work 16 hours.   I am here to give great service and give my expertise that comes with having high IQ Autism. I'll to whatever it takes to get it done. Will do everything to get the project done. On the side I would also love to use what I get from this. To refurbish old tech that can be donated to people of need. Like fixing older laptops that could go to poor students or people on poor parts of the world. When I have down time from helping costumers. What I need to get this going: This is were the largest part of the price I am asking. Buying one will be between $12,000 to around $30,000 depending on upgrades and condition, and location.  The RV would be upgraded with solar and batteries. Allowing me to operate quietly with out the need to a noisy generator in most cases. Along with branding, storage, among other minor additions. I do not want to purchase a stick built RV. They are cheap and look cheap. The reason I want the GMC or Airstream, they are built to last and built just like airplanes and 40 years later are still solid with no leaks, with strong engines. Hence why I am asking for so much. Then I will have to have some money to buy web hosting and all that comes with that. physical branding, such as shirts I would wear while working, business cards, pens, banners. Pay an artist who can do some graphic design(Already have someone in mind) Next issue is having a little cache of money for legal matters. My county is a pain to try to open a small business of any kind. I need money to be able to possibility hire a lawyer. If they deny permits or licences or just plain bureaucracy matters. With that also have money to pay the local government their pound of flesh. Why I think I will be successful. We live very much in the world of on demand services. We see this online but also in person. Think of how Uber  and lyft have revolutionized on demand transportation. How sites like Feelancer have made it easy to get people to get one off projects done, such as websites or 3d modeling etc. I think my business idea would fit this new mode of thinking in my local area. I want to be the Uber of the computer fixit world. Someone sends me a message who need some work done, I can do it on short notice. Be over to their business or home fast. Or just camp out in a parking lot( with permistion of the property owner) and have people just drop in who need work done fairly quickly. My prices I have deicided on would be comparable to what you would pay at BestBuy for similar out of warranty service with out all the overhead a retailer would have. Like lease, power, property taxes etc. As I am the only employee, I don't have the over head that comes from hiring a lot of people. Such as pay role, OSHA among other things. Conclusion: I would love it if you were to support me in this mission of independence and employment this business would give me. Would give my family some measure of security that if something happens to them. I wont end up begging on the streets or worse. Thanks in advance to all those to contribute to this.

How do I stream Sky Go to my TV?

Kicking things off on a bit of a downer, the simple answer is you can’t. Never fear, you can get Sky Go on a TV using a good ol’ cable.

Unfortunately, Sky is yet to add any kind of casting function to the Sky Go app – as you can do with other streaming services like Netflix or Amazon – and this means there’s no way to shift the app’s mobile content from your phone or tablet to a TV. A lack of a Sky Go app on smart TVs doesn’t help the situation either.

Instead, you’ll need to grab your laptop and download Sky Go if you haven’t already. The next step is to check what connections your laptop has and, fingers crossed, it has an HDMI port and you’ve got a handy HDMI cable lying around.

Other solutions include a VGA/DVI connection on some older machines or a more flexible Thunderbolt port, but HDMI is the simplest way of going about things. Here’s exactly how to do it:

Open the Sky Go app on your laptop

Find what you want to watch and go fullscreen

Attach the HDMI cable to your laptop

Plug the other end into a free HDMI port on the back of the TV

Make sure you are on the correct HDMI input on the TV and you are all set

Method 1: Close the Cisco VideoGuard Monitor process

Your Sky Go app may stop working because there’re issues with the Cisco VideoGuard Monitor process running in the background. You should try closing the process and see if this helps you fix your issue.

a) If you are on Windows:

Press the Ctrl, Shift and Esc keys on your keyboard at the same time to open Task Manager.

Right click the CiscoVideoGuardMonitor process and click End task/End Process.

b)If you’re using a Mac computer:

On your desktop, click Go, then click Utilities.

Double click Activity Monitor.

Click CiscoVideoGuardMonitor, then click the quit button.

Now check to see if your Sky Go app is working properly. Hopefully it is. But if not, you may need to try other fixes listed below.

Method 2: Temporarily disable your firewall

It is also possible that your Sky Go issue results from your firewall itself. To see if that’s the problem for you, temporarily disable your firewall and check if the problem persists. (Consult the documentation of your security software for instructions on disabling it.)

If this resolves your problem, contact the vendor of your security software and ask them for advice, or install a different security solution.

*IMPORTANT: Be extra careful about what sites you visit, what emails you open and what files you download when your antivirus or firewall is disabled.

Method 3: Completely reinstall your Sky Go app

When the fixes about can’t help you fix your Sky Go issue, you should reinstall this app to see if this works for you. To reinstall the app, you should uninstall the program and delete the remaining folders as well. Here’s how you can do it.

a) If you’re using Windows

Press the Windows logo key and R on your keyboard at the same time. Then type “control” and press Enter to open Control Panel.

Under View by, click Large icons.

Click Programs and Features.

Right click Cisco VideoGuard Player and click Uninstall. Then follow the on-screen instructions to uninstall this program.

Right click Sky Go and click Uninstall. Then follow the on-screen instructions to uninstall this program.

Press the Windows logo key and R on your keyboard at the same time. Then type “appdata” and press Enter to open the AppData folder.

Go to Local > Cisco and delete the VideoGuard folder.

Go back to the AppData folder. Then go to LocalLow > Cisco and delete the VideoGuard folder.

Go back to the AppData folder. Then go to Roaming and delete the Sky and Sky Go folders.

Download the Sky Go app from the official Sky website. Then open the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions to install the app.

b) If you’re on Mac

On your desktop, click Go and click Applications.

Remove the Sky Go app.

Go back to your desktop, then click Go and click Go to Folder.

Type “~/library” and click Go.

Go to Cisco, then remove the VideoGuardPlayer folder.

Download the Sky Go app from the official Sky website. Then open the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions to install the app.
