I know what you mean about the new shows. I'm still a ways off from watching them, but I still want to remember they exist but keep forgetting. What do you means vrains is six years old??? (<- was not even a yugioh fan when vrains was airing) You're telling me there's probably going to be new one after that??? That the days start coming and they don't stop coming?????

Shoutouts to the sevens and go rush fans. They are the mightiest of soldiers. I know nothing about their shows but I'm hesitantly penciling them into the groupchat au anyways because I have seen maybe three clips but I know this funny little alien guy is near and dear to my heart.

Obviously there's a bit of a shift between Vrains and the Sevens era, being made for new audiences, a little tone shifting (which we LOVE, because any franchise that stays the same forever is no bueno.) and that makes it easy to group the first six shows into one group. But I also think there's a fascinating dialogue between shows 1-3 and shows 4-6. I didn't realize it until I was a good way into Arc-V, but each of the second trilogy protagonists sorta reflects the first three.

With Yuma and Yugi, it's very purposeful, a stated "return to form" with the chipper kid and his ghost companion who lives in his special necklace. And when I was gushing over Yusei in 5Ds, I got a lot of people saying "Man, you're going to love Yusaku." They're both the rbf hacker protags who fight the government. Lots to love.

But Jaden and Yuya????? Did not imagine I would come out of Arc-V going "omg they're foils. They're the same story through a different lens. They need to TALK to eachother and bond over their shared experiences."

Even leaving out my pet theory of "Zarc Was An Incarnation Of Jaden In The Original Timeline", they're just so. *clenches fist* The childhood trauma of being a weird kids and masking with an overly bubbly personality only to learn the great anger they've been trying to hide is powerful enough to rip apart reality and they're secretly harbingers of destruction.

By the end of GX, I think Jaden has wonderfully come to term with that. By the end of Arc-V, I think Yuya hasn't.

Their dynamic in the gc AU is very much to me Yuya is still struggling with Z-arc stuff, but not saying anything about it because that'd be weird, so he just kinda frets about it until he hits a breaking point and Jaden gets to offer his advice on dealing with all this.

I am so interested in exploring this that it actually got me started writing fic again,,, which I haven't done in like a year, so wish me luck. I'll keep y'all updated :)

Angst aside, they're also just. One braincell between them. Theatre kid and guy who has never once acted natural in his entire life. Kid making a scene at a Waffle House while his friend slowly eats the entire menu and offers suggestions. Jaden is a pokemon fan and Yuya is a kingdom hearts girlie, I've decided this, and they takes turns infodumping to each other. Jaden summons duel spirits so Yuya can ride around on Hiphippo even when he's not dueling. They trade funny things they've heard their dragons say. They're eldritch and inhuman and best friends, your honor.

oooh, this is such a good question and it's a topic i love to talk about ! thank you so much for letting me ramble about this, lmao !

this is also going to have to be under a read more, because it is a massive behemoth of a post. proceed with caution and bear in mind triggers for child abuse, neglect, death / grief, etc !

so... we all know that daryl was abused and neglected as a child ( by his mother, father, and brother ), as a teen ( by his father and brother ), and well into his adulthood ( by his brother and the type of company he kept ). there's no question about it, and the severity of the abuse he endured has definitely had a massive influence on the way he navigates his adult relationships.

you can see him struggle a ton with this while merle is still alive in the first 3 seasons of the show. merle makes daryl feel like he's all daryl has—

because family, kin, blood, comes before all else, right? it doesn't matter how much i abused you growing up and still abuse you now, because i'm your big brother and i know what's best for you, always. i spent years trying to make a man of you, so you owe me something. you're worthless without me and you have been since you were born. i'm older, i'm wiser, i always protected you even though i abandoned you at the drop of a hat every time i could to get away from the man we both suffered under our whole lives. i'm the only one who cares about you. nobody else will ever care about you. just me.

—and it's to the point where daryl literally leaves people who are better for him in every way in order to rough it on his own with merle. even when daryl decides that enough is enough, that he'd rather go be with people who appreciate him and give him a much better life, he still lets merle come back with him ( despite his awful behavior while they're on their own, such as merle's aggression with the family on the bridge ). he tells rick that if the group wants daryl to stay, then they must accept merle back into the fold even if they don't like him.

the degree to which daryl is so easily manipulated by his brother is astounding, but that's how that kind of abuse goes. they make you feel worthless, like you're nothing without them, like they made you the person you are and that you should be grateful to them— and if you ever try to leave them, to detach yourself from their hold over you, they make you feel like you're the piece of shit who doesn't care; like you are the one who's done wrong, not them.

and it leads into daryl being easily manipulated by people like rick, for example. there are countless times throughout the show where daryl does as rick asks of him even though he vehemently disagrees and / or doesn't want to, and every single time there's an overarching theme of do this because i need you to. because we're family, and that's what family does for one another. it's very much the same sentiment that merle instilled in daryl from a young age, and it's something that rick has literally seen merle to do daryl before but it's still something he chooses to knowingly repeat. it's a dynamic that becomes even more interesting the more daryl refers to rick as his brother ( and i could go on about this forever, but this post isn't just about the way that rick treats daryl. that can come sometime later ).

but then there are people like carol— daryl's best friend above all others from the very beginning. the woman he would do anything for. you don't have to look too deeply into their relationship to understand that part of the reason they get along so well is because of their similar backgrounds of abuse and neglect. even after years and years, the fact that their tight bond began and persisted because of their traumas is still referenced ( in season 10 ep 1, daryl's quote: sometimes i think we're just surviving one fight to the next. / and carol's response: it was like that for you and me before all this ).

i think it's important to acknowledge how daryl's history and experiences play so hard into the bonds he makes with other trauma survivors ( specifically trauma pre-outbreak, because yeah, everyone suffers horrific traumas once the dead begin to walk ). it carries over into his relationships with people like leah ( see this post for my thoughts on their relationship and why it's strictly platnoic ) and with lydia.

lydia is actually a really big one, too, because she's the most prevalent example of an abused child / teenager who daryl can bond with and who he sees himself in. during the time that he meets and gets to know lydia, however, he's in a position where he's more healed and has let go of much of his past life. it lets him relate to her, but it also lets him reach out to her. help her. show her that she doesn't have to stick by the side of someone who is / was atrociously abusing her. it goes back to him choosing merle over the people who actually cared for him— lydia is sort of an opportunity for daryl to come full circle and show the audience just how much he has healed in a lot of different ways ( even though he does still display some aggressive and stubborn behaviors. this is daryl we're talking about, after all ).

moving on, i can't talk about how daryl's past impacts his relationships without talking about his guilt and shame. this could be a whole separate post in itself because there's just so much to it, but i feel like it needs to be at least touched on here.

i believe it goes without saying that guilt and shame are two very large parts of what makes childhood trauma so debilitating. there's an air of responsibility that comes with it, like you need to set aside your own needs and dissociate from them in order to do and be what others need you to do and be ( people-pleasing ). and a lot of times, the guilt comes in when you push yourself so far that you break.

some examples of this are: not being able to find / save sophia, especially with her being another abused child and after he felt like the only person who cared enough besides her own mother to go looking for her; not being able to save beth at grady memorial after she became such a good friend to him in their solo travels after the tragedy of the prison falling; being taken advantage of by dwight, which eventually results in denise's death and daryl running off to go find him ( which then further results in michonne, rosita, and glenn being captured alongside him by the saviors and ending up being included in negan's lineup ).

the common thread between all of these events is that daryl feels like he's let his people down. maggie even has to pull him aside after he escapes the saviors to tell him that glenn's death was not his fault, and that he doesn't need to carry that shame with him.

and then there's the guilt he feels surrounding his reactivity throughout the show: for example, when daryl is tasked with leading their people away from the saviors after the fall of alexandria, he gets in tara's face for letting dwight go. his outburst frightens judith, which is perhaps the only thing that stops him from continuing to escalate. this leads into his shame surrounding children in general, as well— he is good with kids, as evidenced by his uncle daryl status with judith and rj, but one of the main themes of his time as their acting parent later in the show is that he has no idea what he's doing. he's never had a frame of reference for what actual good parenting looks like, and he constantly asks himself what rick would do instead of trusting in himself that he won't turn out to be what his own father was.

to make a very long story much, much shorter... the way that daryl's family treated him at large before the outbreak culminates in: intense trust issues; self-sacrificial behavior; people-pleasing; poor emotional regulation / reactivity; self-doubt / self-loathing; a deep fear of abandonment, yet the need for extreme emotional distance from others; dissociation from personal needs; feelings of unworthiness when it comes to relationships; struggles with emotional intimacy; hypervigilance; avoidant behaviors; confusion and unsettling feelings surrounding close relationships; and more.

it's also worth it to note that daryl does work through these feelings and trauma responses throughout the show ! you can see how much progress he makes as he gets closer to people in the group and how much he really begins to blossom into his own person without the influence of his old life hanging over him.

there are so many other things i could have mentioned, too. i didn't mention how daryl's trademark quiet nature is in itself fueled by his trauma ( what has talking ever gotten him? most likely, a beating ). how his willingness to sacrifice himself for the people he loves comes, in part, from his past.

and to that point, i never mentioned how daryl's physical body and the things he went through as a child and adolescent shape the way he interacts with people. how he shies away from physical touch until much, much later in the show. how his bodily autonomy is almost always in question ( and if you're curious about that, i have a post on it here ) and how every piece of his body has been used over and over again, down to the very blood in his veins being sold for money as a child.

i also didn't dive into how he's such a good judge of character that it's literally spelled out for you and mentioned countless times throughout the show, but that when he's faced with one of his abusers asking him to go away with him, he does it even though merle is a terrible, awful, horrific, piece of shit person— which just goes to show you how deeply ingrained the trauma bond between him and merle really was. and, beyond that, how trust issues because of childhood trauma made it so difficult to really put his faith in the group when merle was in his ear telling him that daryl didn't need them. that they didn't actually care about him at all.

i never even got into his older brother-little sister relationship with beth, and how she was the first person to help him let go of a huge piece of his old life by burning down the old shack. and i didn't talk about how easily he's able to talk about merle when he tells connie the story about the boat.

all in all, there are countless ways in which daryl's childhood and adolescent experiences impact his adult relationships. so many that there are still more than this, but i feel like i have to stop now because this has gotten so long ! thank you so much for the question !!

Fun fact: do you want to know what pushed me to consider Hectorcard (although still more in a platonic sense)? NFCV.

No really :P I found a very specific plot that NFCV fans used to write about after S2 dropped, which is basically "Hector runs away from Carmilla and goes back to Dracula's castle, where he finds a lonely a grieving Alucard. They bond over their trauma and relationship with Dracula"

(there is a post-S3 variant where Trephacard rescue Hector after becoming Lenore's slave, or generally having the two bonding over the trauma of having being raped and deceived, but I'm not too fond of this idea because it's a little too delicate)

And the idea was actually good! I do think those two characters share enough parallels even in that universe. So ofc it got me to think, what about game Hectorcard? What about that short window of time where both of them were sick of Dracula? How would their personalities mash, are they really so similar? (answer: yes but actually no, Alucard is far more curt and cagey than Hector who is a little more polite and emotional) Would they grow from strangers to brothers? What kept them apart in the end?

(and I'm not even considering what ifs? where Alucard doesn't go to sleep or wakes up after CoD)

also yes the reason i'm working on this awkward smut fic is because it's an excellent character study: Alucard is inexperienced and generally unenthused, Hector is too used to serve others (which unnerves Alucard for reasons you can understand), but the important thing is that they both trust each other with the most vulnerable parts of themselves, which is so so so important after Dracula (and Isaac, in Hector's case) made clear that he sees them as children whose voices don't matter.

They could be sweet together :3

ooh yes, i'm familiar with both variants of post-S2 and post-S3 scenarios, having read my share of NFCV Hectorcard fics in my search for their game counterpart pairings lmao

there was one i really liked, the title escapes me atm, but notably it was on the shorter side, where it's Alucard who goes to rescue Hector from his imprisonment and in the end, to save Hector's life from a fatal injury, he turns him and they get to spend eternity together (what can i say, i'm a sucker for a scenario where they can both end up healed, happy, and loved that doesn't feel cheap or forced).

yeah, the idea of both of them trauma bonding over everything they went through really is a good one, but. definitely not handled very well, or at least not in a satisfying way imo. mostly due to how rushed their relationship usually ends up, considering in this universe they're complete strangers, but, also, bc of the nature of their trauma, i find it tends to dip into alot of whump/caretaker tropes, which, while not bad on its own, doesn't really scratch that itch for me to explore where their respective characters are similar and diverge since they're both so different from their game versions.

and also, yes, bc N!Alucard is sassy and rude, but N!Hector is generally more polite and woobie, they get pigeonholed in a very predictable top/bottom dynamic which is. something i already didn't enjoy in the early fandom days of the games lmao

but there's potential! just like there's potential in their game counterparts which is made so much more interesting by the fact they didn't get together

(there's a secondary theme that kind of threads those types of fics together that i wish were explored more: the idea of N!Alucard and N!Hector learning about the other in their respective absences - N!Hector while he was under N!Drac's employ, only being able to piece together N!Alucard's existence through a forgotten portrait here or there, stumbling upon his childhood bedroom in his early days of learning the layout of his new home. N!Alucard after the Styrian invasion who no doubt discovers N!Hector's menagerie of undead pets left behind then eventually his forging lab, maybe even his personal quarters. what kind of first impression would they have of each other based on these limited clues vs. when they eventually meet face to face? it really is such a shame their storylines were kept completely separate in the show :/)

i know you headcanon Alucard as aroace and therefore he wouldn't be too keen on being intimate to begin with, but i do love the idea of it being a moment of vulnerability for him where he has to keep his desire in check lest his vampiric nature take over and he end up inadvertently hurting Hector - some kind of internal struggle to match Hector's own apprehensiveness that he would feel the need to slow down and go full service top mode because hey, this is Dracula's beloved son he's fucking, better make it good (vs when he's with Isaac and they're both rough and wild with each other)

goshhhh i love speculating about this ship now it's just. the idea of Alucard having at least one positive, intimate relationship he will cherish for life, and for Hector this will be just have to be another face he will miss, another happy memory relegated to the past once he finally leaves, and after everything that is yet to come...it's the doomed relationship aspect of it all, the tragedy being that it was brought on by circumstances completely outside their control rather than anything to do with them as individuals. in another universe, in another life, maybe they could've been happy together, in any type of relationship. if only :')

Part 2, here we actually get into what's been going on since the story ended. Ngl I didn't expect there to even be 2 parts to this but here we are and this is long too 😂.

Ynwon are married!!. We ended on Jungwon going to the altar and YN ready to marry her guy.

Bahiyyih made YNs dress and the dresses of the bridesmaids + all of YN and Jungwons family.

Theo, didn't really give ynwon a choice when it came to officiating the wedding.

There was a fight over who will be the one to give YN away. Sirius, Harry and Ron almost got into a physical fight over it.

YN asked Lucius Malfoy to be the one to give her away. She may love the Weasleys, Sirius and the Potters.

But the Malfoys were the first ones to help her when everything went wrong so her bond with them is special.

Ynwon go for a nice long honeymoon, like a month long honeymoon. Why? cause they could 😂.

Sirius gifted the couple a little cottage in Hogsmeade. Which they're friends were supposed to furnish, get all their stuff there while ynwon were on they're honeymoon.

Soul not wanting to let YN go, still hasn't managed to get all of her things moved into the new cottage.

So for another month, YN is still going to her old apartment to get clothes and random things that she's still got there.

Jungwon getting tired of this, talks to Soul and they get all of YNs things moved in.

One day, Ron comes to tell YN that her dad died in Azkaban.

At this point it's been 5 years since her family were jailed and YN never went to meet them, despite them writing her letters and asking her to meet them.

Unsurprisingly this sends YN into a spiral, wondering if she should've gone to meet her family, relief that her father that terrorised her childhood is gone. Wondering if she's a bad person for being relieved that her father's dead.

This spiral sends YN into bad coping mechanisms. She starts isolating herself from everyone, pushing everyone away.

Jungwon notices immediately that something is wrong but thinks YN wil come to him and waits for him.

Which doesn't happen since 2 days later, Jungwon comes home to YN sobbing over a photograph of her whole family that she didn't know she had.

YN reveals everything to Jungwon, who talks her into going back to therapy.

Being in therapy helps, when time comes for her dad's funeral. YN goes with her best friends.

Jungwons friends wonder why he didn't go with her but it's YN who asked him not to come along.

YN feels this is something she has to face herself, her best friends come because they know how her dad was, they're own families were similar to him.

For all of them, the funeral of Moon Haesung is burying they're own pasts and traumas.

He's a physical representation that they can move on, they're parents and families do not have a hold over them. All of them are working thru the trauma they've got because of them.

After the funeral, Jungwon is there for YN when she gets home, reminding her that her past doesn't define her. Her family doesn't define her.

Reminding her that he loves her, regardless of everything she's been thru and that she's strong and it's okay to breakdown with him because he'll always be there.

So that got heavy. Back into happier things. Jungwon has achieved his dream, he's a junior lawyer at H&R.

YN, got her masters and is working on getting her teaching qualification, so she's a trainee professor at the moment.

Only teaching 1st, 2nd and third years, majority are in love with her 😂. Which makes the older students jealous, so they all come to her for advice 😂😂.

Jay is now an auror trainer. He suffered an injury and even with magic, going back into the force wasn't worth it.

Working in the ministry, Jays become very close to Chaehyun. Literally no one is surprised when they announce theyre dating.

Sunghoon, after reaching peak stardom and using magic to avoid paparazzi, falls in love with another top star. Very much a off screen and on screen romance.

Bahiyyih is a successful seamstress, she's taken over Madame Malkin's and is planning on opening another store in Paris.

Gaeul & Wonyoungs business is so big that the girls need help on making it still be the best but not skimping on quality. Theo is their saving grace, he helps them and that is a trio no one expected 😂.

Heeseung gave up on being a CEO to be a full time event planner and he's the best in the business. He offers his services to both magicals and muggles so it really is a booming business.

Troublemakers Inc, they're still in business and thought they've had it tough, they are doing okay rn.

Healer Jake is out here saving ppl and living his best life, he went thru a rigourous training period and now he's everyone's go to healer 😂.

The Choi's, have all got one degree by this point. Yeonjun uses his chemistry degree to tutor students in the subject and is making bank.

Jungwons pretty sure he's using Magic to help his students but he can't prove it and it's not hurting anyone so he's letting it go.

The ravenclaw in Soobin really came out, he's back in uni getting another degree.

Chaos agent Beomgyu, went from uni student to Quidditch player. Remember Keeho being salty he wasn't made England captain...

Guess who did make captain.... Beomgyu is an unhinged captain but he gets results, England wins the Quidditch World Cup after 85 years.

Since getting married, ynwon are invited everywhere. Sirius with the Lupins expects them for dinner on Mondays.

Tuesdays, is for various Weasleys. Ynwon are meeting either a Weasley or a Weasley spouse for lunch or dinner.

Wednesday's is for their friends, they alternate whose friend group they have dinner with.

Thursday is date night. Either with Jay & Chaehyun or Sunghoon & his gf. If it's not double or group dates then it's ynwon being a cute ass couple.

All the restaurants and shops in Hogsmeade know that ynwon will be out and abt on Thursday. It's an unspoken rule that if ynwon come to ur business on a Thursday, they get a discount.

Lastly Friday is dinner with the Potters. Which is gatecrashed by practically everyone 😂.

Despite busy schedules, weekends are times for ynwon to do things together. They get whatever work they have done in their joint office on the weekend.

Also Heeseungs events tend to be on the weekend, so that keeps their weekends busy as well.

Teddy and his crush on YN while gone completely, he's 14 now. Obviously he's moved on.

But Teddy is still the head of the Professor YN is the best club. He's the first to figure out which 1st, 2nd or 3rd years have gotten a crush on YN.

He takes a weird amount of joy from ruining these kids lives by telling them that YNs happily married.

Teddy is always talking to Jungwon abt the various boys that have a crush on YN and the funny things they do to get her attention and how oblivious YN is to all of that.

If you've been following me, you know we just got a new fictive (the first in years). Danny.

And first of all, can I say how different it is to split a fictive then it is to split a regular alter, damn dude. Guy took us all for a loop. We definitely forgot how to deal with it and react appropriately (it's more important than you'd think). And the saddest part is, I'm not even surprised we split again because of all the shit happening in America right now. And also can someone tell me why fictives are way more likely to become hosts. Why. (Actually I might know why) But still- HELLO??? Might just be my system and trauma symptoms like 'b8' (I don't know what the hell it's actually called it has a real name I swear)

So I'm just gonna say, from the first time we saw DP fanarts I just knew, that guy's gonna become an alter. But the thing is I couldn't for the life of me find the actual show for forever. Until now, bought a whole month of paramount plus for this.

(The immediate way we can tell a new fictive has formed is if the b8 goes off. Essentially, every time a (fictive) character gets hurt (in source or fanarts or something), we literally feel it. It's a whole science thing about childhood trauma and how being in stress as a child made stress/pain later in life feel good. (We've named it b8, it's a very long story.) It's wack as fuck and made this system absolutely unhinged. (See HSS). So when that kid got slammed into a wall for the 6th time in a row and I felt it, we knew it was about to get good. The second way is when everything is unfamiliar and I have no idea where I am. But that's more depressing than I'd like so we'll just go with b8.)

So now, suddenly Danny. He's here (and may or may not be queer). And since our dumbasses didn't have a new fictive in years, we just went off on him (excited). And it went to shit fast.

During this time, we also started looking at fanfic. (Ok first of all, I sorta know the answer to this question but I also don't. What is the deal with batman. Why, when I'm looking for DP fanfics on AO3, I have to filter out BATMAN!??? Ok sorry rant over) So while the fanfics did NOT help the situation, it did something to the homesickness. So that was sorta a positive. But what came out of it, is the most chaotic shit I've ever seen.

So APPARENTLY, when a kid is suddenly dropped into a whole new body and world, it's kinda stressful. And a bunch of chaotic guys are suddenly surrounding you and (for lack of a better term,) harassing you, that doesn't help. So poor kid went into a state of shock. It was homesickness, it was where the fuck am I, it was what is going on, it was everything. At once. It also didn't help that he was still kinda forming. It got to the point where if any of us even said his name, it would be a wave of negative emotion. (See post about entire system breaking down)

Remember when I said Danny was still forming at this point, well, he took after a fic.

Short version: it's very angsty, and Danny sorta turns evil at the end.

And now, we have two. Two Dannys. But they're in the same body (Headspace). It's the closest we've gotten to a subsystem. And the best part, after going on an evil rampage through Nogard (headspace world), that's what got him out of his shell. So now it's Danny AND Phantom.

All of that negative emotion from before just- boom. Gone. And honestly.

I think that's just the utter insanity that this system is known for.

So now he's a host. He fronts a lot now, which is good. (I think) Which is also funny because his energy is very similar to the other hosts.

But also it's nice because he's bonding with our mom a lot. I think it's sweet. And it's good because said mom is NOT used to us talking to them that much.

So to wrap this up, we're doing good now. Somehow we've got ourselves a cringe little good/evil child running around. I don't think I could have ever predicted that, but honestly, I wouldn't wish for anything different.

Langris and Vanessa's friendship is definitely one of my favourite Black Clover dynamics to think about these days, but to tell you the absolute truth, it wasn't really something I had considered much before my sister and I made up this ridiculous AU about Langris deciding his true calling is to be become a traveling bard and sing sea shanties in bars [and in this AU, he kept running into Vanessa at the bars and they developed this sort of bantering brother-sister-like friendship that was just really fun]. Then when I started writing "Yellow Flowers" and exploring the similarities between Vanessa and Finral's childhood trauma for that story, I really began to realize that Vanessa and Langris have a lot of similarities in that regard as well.

I really feel like if Langris and Finral are two opposite ends of a types of childhood trauma spectrum then Vanessa is in the middle in a way [i.e. she was neglected and ignored like Finral, but she was also objectified by her parent (seen only for her usefulness to Her Majesty) and held to unattainable standards of perfection like Langris]. I like to think that in that way she could bond with both of them and become just as good a friend to Langris as she is to Finral someday. Given her similar life experiences to him and how naturally intuitive she is, I think it would be easier for Vanessa to kind of "read between the lines" with Langris and see that he has a lot going on under the surface that he doesn't usually let people see. And Langris, in turn, recognizes that a part of Vanessa is actually hurting (even though she generally buries that pain in favor of being cheerful and positive because she would much rather be the shoulder for others instead of the one opening up about her own struggles), because he knows firsthand how painful it is to have a parent like Her Majesty. I think my song choices hinted at this, but in my mind, their shared experiences really afford them the opportunity to be vulnerable with each other and open up about things that they otherwise probably wouldn't feel comfortable discussing with anyone else who didn't have that same kind of understanding. (I suppose it's a similar concept to a support group in that way). I also just love their banter with each other too. Vanessa can absolutely match wits with Langris and hold her own against him, and I find that kind of dynamic positively delightful (and gosh it is so, so good for him to have someone in his life who calls him out on his garbage). I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one who likes the idea of them becoming friends! 😊

Sun:

Lewena was designed on purpose to be the sunniest one of the main six for a few reasons. It was the first thought I had for her, a go lucky person who by appearances can pass for your typical cheery girl character who's in touch with nature and sees little fault in others. I saw this a lot from other people and media because that's how women are expected to be usually. It also shapes her first impression as the harmless white woman you'd expect to see after its been portrayed over and over other places. But I'm tricking you on purpose.

Then while she can be that thing, her subversive traits would be a pragmatic ruthless capacity on top of her raw power. The one that looks and acts the least like power means anything to her should have the most terrifying relationship to it (which snowballed into making her stronger than Vaste at her fullest potential), while still taming it through kindness. Also I thought a bimbo looking white girl for a token white in the group would be funny. Similar to Vaste in the sense his original concept was someone completely incompetent at it becoming WoL.

Plus there had to be someone in the group besides Gan who could best show Vaste to believe in herself through an upbeat example. Whereas the other three (Weyd, Syv, and Mercuo) can do that but, they center better on a serious air of support as opposed to whimsical.

Her backstory wasn't made with the goal of why she's cheerful when we meet her, but it did become part of it I guess. Everyone on the GoTs had to suffer because of fate to become sympathetic to Vaste, and Lewena's represents the wanting to find happiness as well as pretend to be happy after trauma in order to fit in. As well as in order to try moving past what happened. She also never really grew up in a sense, because there were fifteen years of increasing community alienation and realizing her parents didn't love her. Then two years of slavery. Then half a year in Ul'Dah's slums, before at last by chance Weyd rescues her.

She never got to have a normal childhood or process the entirety of what's happened to her, like the five others. Then of course at the start her and Weyd have strains on their mother daughter relationship that ironically can only get better because she developed her happy positive seeking facade. Over time she comes to fully believe it, and doesn't revert to childlike behavior when afraid anymore.

Her cheerfulness at times can become arrogance. It further makes gives her a disturbing feel when she keeps it in her body horror forms for each of her powers. Unlike Vaste who tries rejecting power and suppresses herself, Lewena has bonded with and accepted what she is, like her mother. The Primals aren't parasites the way Vaste views her Hydaelyn enhanced body, they're friends sharing a home in her flesh. As long as they pay that symbiotic relationship respect, Lewena has no reason to turn on them, and no reason to not also show them pep. This on top of wanting her aether reserves endears her to the Primals too; she's not the mortal agonizing over it they'd expected. Her positivity gives her that steel spine to accept them, and it earns their respect in a way.

The thing that isolated her as a child isn't to be cursed but celebrated. Which now that I think about it is close to Gan's perspective toward himself after how he was treated for his skin and heritage back home. Both being opposites to Vaste who fixated on being outcast for those things. Though in terms of powers I think this difference has a lot to do with Lewena coming by her power naturally instead of being forced.

She loves dance too, and the first thing I could think of for that was someone being happy. It makes her feel safe.

Full Moon:

Syv. Because he's the one I've least thought about. Lmao.

But I was thinking about this, he would be the most mysterious because his past haunts him. He's loud and friendly and loves being involved but if you're paying attention, he keeps people at an emotional distance. He can entertain and be an ear or a shoulder to cry on for others, but they're so busy seeing how he takes care of them to realize it's a one way street. He doesn't reveal his past much if ever, and if it comes out he can spin it to make everyone brush what he revealed off.

He's good at distracting you into thinking you know him long enough that unless you're perceptive, you'll think you do know everything there is. He appears simple, because while he does want to atone for his family and his personal sins, he's still hung up on the shame that past entails. He can acknowledge it but he struggles to confront it by admitting anything directly. So only a handful of a handful of people have any idea of the truth at first. Even fewer realize there's a truth they're missing to begin with.

The loud party animal and guy who always has it together really doesn't because he can't yet deal with vulnerability in himself.

- He was so happy to see amity grow up looking more like him with the brown hair and similar traits

- He wishes he put up more of a fight against odalia for how she treated their kids, and feels guilty about not being more present and standing up for them

- Eda and Raine were the worst people to put together, bc they caused C H A O S during their hexside days

- Sometimes Lilith, Darius, Alador and Perry would also join in, but it was mostly Eda and Rainey

- They have a Look™️ which means LETS CAUSE TROUBLE ON PURPOSE

- It's part of the reason Darius sought out Raine for the rebellion and knowledge

- Darius and Raine and Eberwolf always played pranks of Adrian Graye but never got caught. Adrian found it infuriating

- Gus's mum died when he was like 5 or 6 so he doesn't remember her very well other than that she was ill for most of his childhood

- Gus has no idea how strong he is

- He was arm wrestling amity and accidentally hurt her arm bc he was so into it

- The hexsquad don't get it when Luz calls him Lennie after that, and she won't elaborate

- Willow gives people specific plants to certain people as gifts

- For example, Gus gets one that symbolisies friendship, amity gets one symbolising strength, Luz gets one symbolising honour, and hunter gets one symbolising love

- The way the others had to hold back tears when she gave them out made her cry as well

- Hunter is terrible at sharing unless it's with Gus or Willow

- Eda will bite you if you try and take food from her plate

- Raine tried once, they never tried afterwords tho

- Lilith and hooty go off on little adventures every now and then

- King and Luz always refer to each other as brother and sister, even in the human realm

Gen 4.1 Planning

Libi: Okay, so my basic premise for who Libi is going to be at her core, WOO; I was thinking about how we said that she is Tess' second (lowkey third but I'll let you live gal) chance at 'getting it right' and raising a child well, which, OBVIOUSLY, she's never told or anything but there's an innate pressure in that that you'd know on some level, likewise her mum AND dad died so everyone would be quick with those comparisons always, this family and Liam's mum when that contact is made because her daughter died as well as; Then that made me think of the pressure Ro felt because you know, bad shit happened to Bea (Edie and Liam in this case) and then she got saved by McVickers and felt like she owed everyone to be great and do great things; so my vibe is that BUT COMING FROM A LESS SELFISH, WEIRD, PERFECTIONISM ANGLE soz not soz Ro, we know what you did; I see her being better behaved as she grows up, far more than her parents obviously but lowkey better behaved than any of the mcvickers or cali kids ever were because she thinks everyone deserves that, her not causing any more problems, but again UNLIKE Ro, she wouldn't be different to a degree of not fitting in because she'd make a massive effort to be there for everyone and every event, be likeable and get along with as much of the fam as possible, obviously some of that is natural charm but it's also putting in the time ahem Rosaline; like, she's a people pleaser, to a fault, and all she cares about is making everyone else, Tess, Fearghal, Ali, JJ etc etc, happy and making sure she's being what she thinks they want her to be/need her to be, and like that is what makes her happy because she is doing it out of love and respect not obligation but she doesn't know she's doing it, you know? Again, it's innate, how she is, but that's where the arc can come in, in realising that she goes with what makes everyone else happy, is who they need, but what does SHE want herself, and what does SHE need? A way I thought we could make this a Bobby/Libi storyline if we wanted (but we do not have to) is if she does have feelings for him, could be any point on his timeline gfs and kids wise whatever, but she lets him go and have whatever gf or do whatever thing because she's like that's what he wants he doesn't like me or want me like that etc, because she doesn't let herself want things selfishly or do anything just for herself Bobby: we should totally have them be together as little bubs because they are and it's like a running joke that they are gonna get together/get married like we've lowkey already said but more so but maybe the vibe is he is really shy how he is and lowkey it's like a my sister and me vibe where she does all the talking and socialising for him and like all their friends are joint friends Bobby: not in a creepy Ro and Ali way but Bobby: and we will let you outgrow that sir Libi: it makes sense because obviously we're learning sign language so simply Bobby can't communicate with most kids by himself, that's facts, and it's easier to have another kid help you than Jimmy always being there, or whoever he has helping him at school, you know Bobby: oh snap maybe I flip reverse what I said and Cammie's mum is the deaf one too and the vibe could be that like Libi pushes him to get some deaf friends as they become like tweens/teens so he can communicate himself so he does and does become more outgrowing that way but maybe he lowkey leans too hard into deaf culture for a while there and she feels like pushed out by it because it's something she can't be a part of Libi: ooh yeah, that makes a lot of sense Bobby: it adds something to Cammie's character as well being hearing but having two deaf parents so that's interesting Bobby: and also makes sense why JJ have to help them so much as well as them just being young Libi: right, there's a lot of shit Cammie would have to do from a young age if not for JJ lowkey 'cos it's just easier for a hearing kid than it is a deaf adult in this world Libi: her mum could maybe be more partial for ease but yes Bobby: and like it makes sense that Libi would push her feelings aside when those two grow closer/happen because she'd be like well they're both deaf that's something I can't give him and something I want him to have Libi: exactly, it'd feel really selfish to wreck that even if you didn't have all the ingrained shit she does around it Bobby: and obviously he actually wants to be with her as well but thinks she doesn't want that and before you now it there's baby Cammie so it's like well now I gotta try and make this work because don't wanna be a shit father like I had Libi: oh the drama of it all Libi: love it Libi: and we've not really got (that I can think of) a never mind I'll find someone like you type deal Libi: because usually it's like JUST SAY IT but it actually makes sense here to pine and long but let him go Libi: hence I'm here for it Libi: So, what I'm thinking right now is, that they're like never officially together, like it just keeps being an in-joke kinda vibe and like we're JUST best friends and then kind of like family, but obviously as they get into tween/teen years it's beyond a stage you can pretend you're just a kid playing at being girlfriend and boyfriend and as you said boo, that will coincide with JJ wedding and kids roughly so then it'd be more obvious like it's not going to happen seriously, then she can encourage him to get deaf friends etc, but I feel like he should only meet Cammie's mum just before or at uni (or whatever equivalent he's doing after school) so then it is quick and not like they were even mates before so it's less of a shock for all, you know?
