Think it's sweet when people recommend me a show and try to be helpful by telling me what streaming platform its on but it does always throw me a little to be reminded that there's actually people out here who still spend money on streaming services

I had an interesting conversation..
Topic: Masking Autism
I had a conversation with someone today talking about how they are seeking to get a full evaluation to be diagnosed possibly because of there previous evaluation with psychiatrist said there's a possibility they are.
We ended up having a conversation about masking which i proceed to say in my experience masking is very difficult for me. It takes a mental toll and physical toll on me as well. They proceed to say true but masking is easy. I understand that some people think masking or have an easier time to mask themselves and pretend that there something there not but, it makes me wonder if there telling themselves that because its actually easier or that they've just learn to accept it.
I've been bullied into basically masking myself growing up and being a late DX. Including now, When i try to unmask I get perceive or told super ableist shit out of nowhere that makes me go back into my box which make it harder for me to feel comfortable.
Tumblr media
But, it makes me sad a lot of the time that I know I have to choose between masking or having friends or build long term relationships with people. If you need an example, watch Heartbreak High S2, the character name Quinni expresses what I've recently been going through again where its like were put in a constant tug a war between accommodating our own selves while sustaining friendships/relationships with others.
Tumblr media
(Example just incase you don't have Netflix and can't watch what I'm talking about but, it shows one of the clips I'm referencing)
Yes, you can say "Well why don't you try to ask for accommodation or talk with them about it?". Yes I have of multiple occasions doesn't mean that they'll actively do it or the people your around will perceive you and what you say the wrong way including growing up in neurotypical environments that make you think your the problem. So, most people like me just don't expect people in return to accommodate us. When we are, we greatly appreciate those people.
So, saying that masking is "easy" or "glamourous" is far from the truth for most people. It causes insecurities, severe depression, bad thoughts, and feeling not good enough.
But, this is just my opinion on the interwebs and maybe someone will look at this be like "this is so first world problems and masking saves lives" which yes it does because it has with me but, it still has negative consequences that people aren't putting to light or ignoring because it's either them not going through it or person who is masking isn't ready to acknowledge it.
Maybe I just need therapy who knows but, after all, like i said this is my opinion on masking.
youtube
(I recommend watching this video, she does a beautiful explanation and she is also autistic as well. She does a lot of different videos about Autism and hot takes in the community.)

(Old ranking - go to my blog for updated rankings)
My rankings/reviews of all the k dramas I have seen so far (up to 18 now).
I’ve got 3 new kdramas, one I loved, one that bored me but had a killer OST, and one that was pretty cringe. I bolded the new dramas. I also changed the order of some of my old rankings as I remember some dramas more fondly than others as time goes by. I would recommend any drama I gave a C grade or higher.
1) Hometown Cha Cha Cha: It’s an absolute masterpiece and delight. I want to live in that fictional community forever. Grade: A+(Netflix)
2) Her Private Life: Super funny and charming. The romantic leads have incredible chemistry. The premise is so good! Might be the most rewatchable of all the k dramas I’ve seen so far. Grade: A (Netflix)
3) Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung: Great strong female lead. Very good messages. Couldn’t stop watching. The most adorable prince I’ve ever seen 💜Cha Eunwoo💜 Grade: A (Netflix)
4)Business Proposal: I bumped this up cause it’s been a minute but I can’t stop thinking about this drama. It’s got every trope you can think of and it does them all to perfection. It’s so good and will make you feel all the good feels. Can someone please give me another rec that’s like this drama? I need those good feels in my life again. Grade: A (Netflix)
5)Sh**ting Stars: Probable the biggest turnaround of any show I’ve seen (The “Africa” part was so bad - who thought that was ok?). Thankfully the show did a total 180 and quickly became one of my all time favorites. If you at all are interested in the world of celebrities and want to laugh, then swoon, then cry, then swoon again, I think you’ll really like it. I loved every single supporting character. All of their storylines were incredibly interesting. Plus it really makes you examine yourself as a fan and how you view/treat celebrities. One of the funniest and swooniest KDramas out there. Grade: A- (Viki)
6)Strong Woman Do Bong Soon: The main couple is absolutely everything! Just fast forward through pretty much every side plot (they are not important) and you’ll love it. Grade: A- (Viki)
7)So I Married the Anti-Fan: It’s campy, fluffy, goodness, with a fierce female lead and a K-pop star enemy/love interest. Fastest binge of my life. Grade: A- (Viki)
8)Start-Up: Exceptional acting, compelling storylines, intriguing plot twists, great cinematography, intense love triangle. It’s just all around high quality. Grade: B+ (Netflix)
9)Run On: Cute, fun, silly and pretty light. I especially loved the supporting cast. Strange storyline but it was a fun easy ride. Grade: B+ (Netflix)
10)Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-Joo: A bad-ass yet vulnerable female lead. The main couple just had a lot of fun together. Refreshing. Grade: B+ (Viki)
11)Touch Your Heart: If you can just stick it out through the first few very shaky episodes, you will enjoy this adorable series. Grade: B (Netflix)
12)Doom at Your Service: It was sometimes real sad yet ultimately a heart warming mystical story. Grade: B (Viki)
13)What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim: it felt a bit formulaic at times but the main couple has great chemistry and the supporting cast are hilarious. Grade: B- (Viki)
14)True Beauty: I recently bumped this drama up because its actually aged well in my memory. However, it’s a little too much of an antsy teen drama for my taste. Cha Eunwoo though💜 Grade: C (Viki)
15)Crash Landing On You: The first half is GREAT but the second half is way too melodramatic for my taste. It’s a very interesting storyline, the main couple has insane chemistry, and there are very lovable side characters. Grade: C (Netflix)
16)My Secret Romance: I just kept thinking, “He’s awful. This is abuse of power! The mind games! Such in inappropriate boss behavior. Everything he says is gaslighting. Run the other way girl! So many red flags. Was this filmed on an iPhone 6?” But I also kept thinking, “Why can’t I stop watching this? He’s so pretty. They have great chemistry. This is problematic yet fun?” So 🤷‍♀️ Grade: D+ (Netflix)
17)Our Beloved Summer: V’s “Christmas Tree” OST was my favorite part of this drama. It always set the mood perfectly and made me momentary forget how bored I was with this drama. I realize that this is a very good critically acclaimed drama but to me it felt like it was basically about two people who were in love but inexplicably broke up and follows their lives as they start to call each other but then decide not to, over and over and over again. If you like more “deep” dramas you’ll probably like it but I’m simple minded I guess. Grade: D+ (Netflix)
18)Goblin: The age gap is too disturbing for me, like call the police disturbing. The only redeeming part for me was the Grim Reaper who is one of the most adorable characters I’ve ever seen. He saved it from totally failing for me. Grade: D- (Viki)
Currently Watching: Fight For My Way (and loving it)
What are your thoughts on these shows? Do you agree or disagree with my rankings? I’m kinda at a loss about what I should watch next. Thoughts? Is there a Business Proposal/ Sh**ting Stars type show out there that I haven’t watched yet? I have a list of shows to watch but I just want a high quality, light, campy, funny, swoony, easy to watch, show.

hi! this my first time requesting hehe can I request a mingi with cheating on you by charlie puth pls make it super angsty but with a fluffy ending^^ tysm<3
a/n: thank you so much for requesting~ this one really challenged me ksks hope you like it tho ✨💚
Tumblr media
👤: ATEEZ Song Mingi
📼: Cheating On You - Charlie Puth
genre & warnings: angst, fluff, cursing, mentions of alcohol, clubs, break-up
word count: 908
Tumblr media
Checklist for tonight's fun:
Step 1: Find a girl in the club
Mingi scanned the whole setting, eyes squinting like a hawk looking for its next prey.
His gaze stopped on a girl who is wearing a tight velvet dress that perfectly shows all her curves.
Blonde hair, large bust and ass, kind of tipsy.
Yes, an easy target for the day.
Step 2: Approach and sweet talk that girl
He trudged towards the her confidently, sitting next to her with a smug look on his face.
"Good evening, m'lady. Care to be accompanied by me?" he asked, a smile forming on his face when the girl agreed without any hesitancy.
He bought her more drinks, flirted his way into her heart until she completely opened up to his advances.
Step 3: Bring her home and let's get it on
It didn't take long for Mingi and his buddy to enter his car, driving a few miles to his so-called house.
Thirty minutes later, he was so ready to be free and get all happy.
That was until the girl kissed him, he did reciprocate the kiss, he even went as far as back her down the sofa of his living room but the problem was...
You.
It feels wrong, so wrong on his side that he's kissing an another person's lips that aren't yours.
It feels different that he's touching an another person's skin that isn't yours.
In the same couch that the both of you used to cuddle and rewatch your favorite movies.
How come that every time he does this, everything just leads back to you?
It's weird, that whenever he's with someone else, his consciousness would always drift to you.
Your bright smile, sparkly eyes, silky hair and yeah, he needs to stop for his own sanity.
You two have already separated for about two weeks now, so basically, he's a single man who is about ready to mingle without any worries of cheating.
So why the fuck is hooking up with a stranger so difficult?
No strings attached? Maybe because he's still attached to you.
He can't be intimate with anyone else? Maybe because he's still loyal to you.
Oh to hell with this bullshit.
Mingi pushed the confused girl away from him, apologizing to her before leaving her alone. (which she should take as a sign to leave cuz she ain't wetting anyone's dick for tonight.)
He ran to your house, keen on having you back in his arms, in his life, shit, he just wants to see you again so bad.
You were ripped off from the comforts of your bed when loud knocks erupted from your front door.
Grumbling and pausing the show that you're watching on netflix to tell the person to go away.
"Wooyoung, I said I don't wanna... go" your words trailed off when you opened the door, an unexpected, sweaty person showing up in ungodly hours like this.
"Y/N."
You really didn't have any much of a choice but to let him in, fetch him some water and give him a towel.
If you're going to be honest, you didn't want to go to parties because they reminded you of Mingi.
You two met at a party, things happened and it all led to the both of you dating like you're in a fairytale. Which turned into a horror story when time and communication weren't given any consideration.
You sat right across him, scrutinizing his disheveled appearance and fidgeting figure.
"Why did you even run? You have a car, right?"
Mingi face-palmed at that, he totally forgot about his vehicle.
"Yeah, well. My mind was so full of you, that information flew away. Sorry." he lowered his head, focusing on the glass of water settled down on your table.
"You're stupid." you chuckled a bit, finding him endearing like you usually did.
Seriously, why did the two of you even break up over such a petty thing?
Argument over a blueberry cheesecake? Really?
Given that the storm was already brewing before that fight, pent-up annoyance and tension caused something so small to boom like a nuclear bomb.
"Listen, Y/N, I'm so sorry."
"What?"
You glanced at him, only to see that he's already kneeling in front of you.
"I know that we've already talked about this, we've already said our goodbyes but can we please take those back?"
He craned his neck to peer into your orbs, seeking for any hint of hope, "Can you please take me back?"
Mingi is so ready to put everything on the line, even his bloated up pride that he could't let go when your relationship was being torn apart before.
How he wished to go back in the past, moments where he could kiss you like there's no tomorrow and conversations that lead to your future plans.
He was brought out of his thoughts when your warm hands cupped his face. A sensation that he missed dearly.
"I was waiting for you to say that, Mingi." you said with a voice full of love.
He feels like crying, his own hands clutching yours as he tilted his head a little to give your left palm a small kiss, "Thank you so much. I promise, I will never, ever let this second chance go to waste."
Okay, there's the assurance you both needed.
No more running away, no more taking each other for granted, just you and him for forever.

Bc of you i really wanna get into Ninjago (/pos) but it's so, what's the word, much? Like intimidating there are so many season it seems like and so many character hhdhshah
Can i ask what your fave character is and why and howd you like describe the vibe of the show? Then I can know what to expect w energy of the show and the first question is just bc I'm curious aha
okay so this is gonna be long sorry.
i also thought the amount of seasons was intimidating but i actually find that it was really easy to get through? i think i binged it all in like a week 🧍🏻‍♀️(but uh, i did stay up a lot and usually multitasked) the seasons are very short(usually 10 eps) , and later on the episodes get short too.
there’s also new characters introduced every season, but it’s very centralized around the same cast of characters all through, which is like Lloyd, Nya, Kai, Jay, Cole, Zane, Wu, and later on Pixal. so it doesnt feel like a lot to me.
I also think i enjoy the show a little differently than other media? Like it’s just good fun for me to watch. there’s several factors.
1) It holds a lot of nostalgia for me, because i was superrr into this show as a kid, 2) the way i enjoy the show is much like playing with legos as a kid. you have all these legos and crazy ideas, and you spin it all in different ways into what is sometimes a nonsensical plot, but its fun, 3) it is aimed for kids, so it’s easy to find it lacking in areas, but my absolute favorite thing is watching the team dynamic between the main characters bc it feels like they actually like each other😂 it’s the main thing i watch it for tbh
It’s not for everyone obviously, but idk watching the storytelling and animation improve/change throughout the seasons is neat bc in s8 holllyyyy shit it gets a whole new aesthetic, and it’s also really fun to kind of take elements that the show presents and do some Thinking and Creating in my head
my favorites are Zane and Kai—Zane because i grew up connecting to his character a lot and he’ll always be special to me, and Kai bc he just sort of falls into my stereotypical type of favorite character 💀 . His characterization isn’t always the best and the writers sometimes miss opportunities with him but i just really like Thinking about him and the potential types of character development he could have 🤷🏻‍♀️
Tumblr media
So yeah theres the pilots which are really hard to find, but there’s a twitch link to them (pitched down)
Pilots 1/2, Pilots 3/4 (40 minutes in total)
Then the rest are on netflix(they’re separated into two titles tho), except the day of the departed special which isnt there fsr :P
S1-2 are fun and nostalgic to me even if they’re a bit uh, obviously at aimed kids. they were also meant to be the only seasons, but the audience liked it so it kept going. I feel like something shifted in the air around s6-ish though, and then again for s8 idk.
if youre really plot oriented or super into intense intricate world building, or not into shows that can be simple and aimed at kids, you might not enjoy it..? but if you just like seeing wacky plots w fun characters then you might like it ^_^

TV Ratings, what they mean, and what about Chicago PD? Part 2.
Hi Everyone! Back here with more TV ratings info for you all. This is a continuation of part one.
How are ratings determined?
As I mentioned in part 1, viewership is tracked via statistical sampling. Have you ever heard of people being “Nielsen families”. That’s still a thing. A small relative sample of people agree to record all of their viewing habits daily and then that is extrapolated over the total TV population to determine ratings and over the total estimated people watching TV to determine share. Want to know more about these families click here!
How to read ratings:
Sigh, it’s complicated to say the least but I will try to simplify as much as I can. At the end of the day, ratings are currency and there are many many ways to read them. You can read them both in context and out of context.
Out of context:
This is basically just looking at one show’s numbers week on week or year on year, at how many “viewers” they have had. The challenge here is that this is, by definition, out of context. A show could be gaining viewers but so could overall tv, or the time slot, and if they are gaining that does not necessarily mean they are winning. The opposite is also true.
In Context:
There are many ways to read ratings in context. This could be by night, by time slot, or by demo, by network, etc. This essentially shows how an episode does relative to these other factors, so…in context. In addition, when ratings are looked at at the beginning of the year for the coming advertising year, you also need to take into account total linear and total video viewing trends. If the pie is shrinking (and for linear tv it is), you can’t simply compare YOY absolute viewership.
What type of TV is Chicago PD
CPD is a network primetime show.
The media lingo for TV is super complex but in its simplest terms you can think of TV as linear (on a television set over the airwaves when it airs) or Streaming (subscription services like Netflix are an example, but there is also free streaming that is ad-supported).
Regular linear TV can be broadcast or cable, and can be prime time or non prime.
By all accounts in the linear TV world broadcast prime is generally the most expensive for advertisers (outside of prime sports like the superbowl) because of high viewership.
Chicago PD Example:
The chart here below shows CPD’s absolute viewership extrapolations and ratings in the key demo for this season (note that the first comparison on viewers is vs. last season’s premiere):
Tumblr media
Of course the above is out of context because we don’t see how these compare to other shows on that night. For lots of context there are some awesome graphs here from ep 10x09.
By all accounts, Chicago PD is a Wednesday night powerhouse, handsomely winning the time slot but also showing strong performance in the demo for the night (not easy to do as a 10pm show).
But total viewers are down!
Yes but you can’t compare YOY viewers and make it accurate without doing some math.
Despite what Netflix might want advertisers to think, linear TV is still the dominant form of TV viewing, that said, it has been declining YOY as people shift to streaming. So that means the whole pie has gotten smaller so of course even if you have the same share your total viewers will decline.
Did viewers tank after Jesse’s exit?
Well out of context, it looks like there was a big decline in absolute viewership but you can’t look at stuff out of context. That night was also a world series game. People were tired, survivor was also on. As much as we love him, the absolute decline had nothing to do with him and in context absolute viewers when there are not major sport events have remained stable this season.
What about vs. all shows out there?
See below for the 2021-2022 season chart. Now this was total season ending so does not account for season 10 (which will be the 2022-2023 season).
Yellowstone crushed it and continues to absolutely smash ratings. This is Us had a strong final season. And look who’s after that….
Tumblr media
Does this mean there is no way this show or any show will be cancelled? No.
To be clear network broadcast shows are still challenged by the overall landscape factors of overall viewership decline.
What does this specifically mean for shows like CPD? How do advertisers choose which shows to invest in? How does the money flow? Does one (or two or ten) actor’s salary have an impact on any of it? What are network’s obligations to advertisers and what if they fall short? Stay tuned for part 3!

It's actually fascinating to me that dating apps have essentially pulled the same bullshit that streaming services (and the video game industry, now that i think about it) have pulled.
Essentially: - the market is over-saturated - "content" is spread thin - constant downgrades and removal of free features to paid tiers
I can think of quite a few dating apps off the top of my head. Hinge, Tinder, Bumble, OkCupid. (Most of which have enjoyed a brief five minutes on my phone before I realized ahh scary, but hear me out.) Userbases are actually spread pretty thin. Tinder has the most people on it, being the only usable app in many small town and rural areas. It has very effectively marketed itself as a hookup app, not a relationship app*--hence, people stay on the app longer and are more likely to get frustrated and pay for the premium tiers (after all, those 86 likes are so tantalizing! I want to know who they are! Ah...now that I've paid, where did they all go?) Technically all of these platforms will advertise your profile globally, far outside your location to drum up likes and trick you into paying for premium, but Tinder is a pretty hefty offender because of its near-ubiquity and explicit de-emphasis on long term relationships.
Other apps lack the userbase that Tinder has. They might be okay in the city, but the effect is very similar to content being divided among the many streaming platforms that have sprung forth since the advent of Netflix. Sure, it's easy enough to download every dating app available on the app store, but you have to a) dedicate time to curating your preferences on each of these apps and b) the free versions suck ass. Depending on what subscription model you get, these things can run you up as much as 40 bucks a month per subscription. That racks up fast. And people are desperate for companionship.
Here's the other comparison. Remember the paid streaming tier of Netflix with ads, when in the past decade its explicit appeal was having all the content with no ads?
I did a little snooping on the OkCupid subreddit, because I was curious. Most of the most popular posts and success stories were from... 2014. Nearing a decade ago, at this point. Many, many of the features that made (free!) OkCupid not only usable, but a genuinely accessible and efficient online dating experience have been slowly chipped away. Looking at the google reviews, and the subreddit, you can see how disappointed people were to watch this app's downfall. Prior to my own forays into online dating, when I was first doing research about free dating apps (because I'm a dirty cheapskate) I noticed that naturally, the older the articles were, the more highly these apps were spoken of. Despite this being the supposed heyday of online dating, the apps are at the worst they've ever been.
The parallels to the downgrades of streaming services are fairly clear, but I think it's even more obvious and insidious when you compare it to the state of microtransactions in the gaming industry.
See, many of these apps have "boost" mechanics that advertises your profile to more people (because everything these days is so swipe-heavy) or they have "super likes" that are limited and can be bought and let your potential match know you're interested--god, even the all important, basic dating mechanic of "letting people know you're interested in them" is made into a paid feature! Admittedly, most of my examples here pertain to OkCupid (because it's the only app I can bring myself to spend more than 48 hours on), but that one makes you pay fucking $1.99 for read receipts**. This is very similar to the pay structure of the mobile games industry, as well as the free-to play model of many modern console and PC games.
The gaming industry, being something of a new medium of expression and working as its own "virtual reality" of sorts, is usually a harbinger of new "innovations" in the ways we are sold commodities--lootboxes, for example.
And here we are. The invasion of microtransactions, season passes, and paid DLC that gut the base game of the most personal aspect of our lives.
In the case of streaming services and certain games, the solution has been piracy, or not to play. But for many of us, romantic loneliness is a major barrier to happiness in our lives, and the results these subscription services net us are...minimal. For those of us who are less than conventionally attractive or socially awkward, I mean, there's a reason we're trying to utilize these apps in the first place.
The equivalent to piracy is risking rejection and asking people out face to face. Otherwise... you can't exactly download a relationship. Or not one with a real person, at least. Our loneliness is already being capitalized on via AI romantic companions, as we've seen with Replika.
I've seen a fair few people (in my circle of edgy lefty tumblr, anyways) express frustration over the odd little cognitive dissonance that it's no longer as comfortable or commonplace to express romantic interests in strangers, though it may be in a normal, respectful way. Can't help but feel like that's related.
*I want to clarify that people who do hookups are cool and can do whatever they want. It's just that the state of the dating app industry has left those of us more interested in long term relationships in the dust.
**These are generally bad in normal day to day life, but I would argue in the context of a dating app that these can be pretty crucial in determining another person's interest.

Hot Wheels: BF5: Netflix Anime AU Fanfic
Yeah I'm gonna try this. Basically, if I were to make BF5 into a Netflix Anime AU/Reboot of itself, like I posted about before. Lots of little dumb ideas.
Dunno if anything will come of it but here are my thoughts:
Morally grey Sage from get-go. She genuinely advocates for killing the Vandals, Zemerik, and Zug if they can because it's the fastest way to end the war and protect Earth and the Sentients. She remembers the reds but never says anything about them and doesn't remember how they'd be awoken anyway.
Genderqueer Stanford + Trans Spinner. I love. Trans rep.
Vert/Zoom, because I will go fucking down with this ship
Tezz/AJ, because grumpy/sunshine is the best trope and you cannot stop me
and Sherman/Agura/Stanford because polyamory is great and if you watch Cold as Ice and Mag Wheels and Blue Tide back to back you will understand why I ship it.
Grace becomes a secret keeper in season one. The gang are shitty liars and people are only so dumb. She puts together that something is going on and tells Vert to either explain it, or she's going to Johnson with her theory of "it's a fucking cult". So he shows her the basement. She gets a watch but no vehicle (until late season 2/early season 3)
Zoom ends up in a pretty entertaining situation where Sheriff Johnson likes him and no one else on the team because Zoom grew up in a monastery, and when he tells Johnson, that reminds Johnson of all the samurai and samurai-cowboy movies he loves and he gets really curious about Zoom's skills and wants to get him a cowboy hat
Krytus and the reds stay scary way longer. Like, skin of their teeth, Sage even post-fuser is scrambling for more weapons, scary.
Everybody's a little neurodivergent~ As a treat~
Spinner and Zemerik boink at one point. There's a long running consequence of that being that Zemerik goes easy on the Buster in battle zones and helps them out a lot more willingly against fellow enemies. Their eventual friendship as a result of the kidnapping and boinking is what leads Zemerik to aligning himself fully with Sage
Everybody's a little bit horny~ As a treat~ And Vert and Stanford definitely roll into bed together a few times because. They're horny dudes with no standards. And they share a bedroom wall. Easy math.
WORLDBUILDING AND LORE AND HISTORY AND LORE and the actual explanation for Stanford's ancestry, Sherman's super strength, the Blue Flame, the Crimson One, and so much more. Also a fuckton of Sentient war history.
How did Tezz survive? And shouldn't he have needed to recover? Yes to both.
War. Criminal. Sage. The gang actually has to grapple with the fact that they're actively taking orders from a war criminal and whether or not Sage was justified in what she did and if she had any other option
There's gonna be a whole arc centered on Agura's hunting ability and its importance to the team's survival in dangerous situations
Zoom almost accidentally becomes Vandal Warlord because he almost kills Kalus when he's trying to save Vert's life. Kalus becomes very invested in Zoom after this.
Which is all to say that by the end of season one, Zemerik is more interested in the brothers than Vert and Kalus is more interested in Zoom than Vert, and Vert makes a joke that he's feeling a little neglected and wishes he had the spotlight again... about an hour before we meet Krytus. Who is fucking obsessed with Vert.
Kalus has a husband. He's a black panther named Xunsu.
Zeke also has a husband. And is Jewish.
The slow spiral of grey morality, battle zone exhaustion, and fear that the war is never going to end
Oh, in season one they are in a battle zone where they encounter one of the red cryo pods but when they describe it to Sage she tells them it's nothing to worry about. Needless to say, when it gets cracked open and fucking Kyburi walks out of it in season two, they're a little P.O.'d with Sage.
HEY SO YOU REMEMBER HOW BETTER OFF RED INTRODUCED SO MUCH FUCKING SENTIENT LORE AND A WEAPON AND A NEW ENEMY AND DID NOTHING WITH IT? IM GONNA DO SHIT WITH IT
Porn
Feel free to shout out ideas.

uggghhhhhh covid finally got my stupid ass and its not so bad so far except that i cant seem to fall asleep at all and i got my first anxiety attack yesterday. so that was super cool and fun :^)
ive been binge-watching and finished the netflix castlevania show so i'm just gonna ramble about that for a bit to keep my mind off things.
first off i gotta say i LOVE what they did with the characterization since. yknow. the castlevania game protags are usually very very boring and one-note (at least the ones i've played. yes, my standards are that low). eng voices are good too, delivery can feel a little ehhh with some of the characters but as far as casting choice goes they hit it outta the park imo.
but woof they rly did my man hector dirty!!! which is a shame because he's one of the very few non-belmont protags and i get it they're mashing 2 different, direct prequel-sequel game timelines into a single continuity WHILE introducing original plot threads they cant ALSO make the dude beat on dracs ass after the trio does it the first time. i want to say i wish we at least got to see a duel between him and trevor like in Curse of Darkness, when he gets his ass handed to him the first time, but with everything that goes down in s3 dude would feel like even more of a punching bag. just feels a little unfair that as a protag character maining his own game he pretty much got reduced to fanservice AFTER they set him up with a bacsktory and motivation that goes past the canon-typical revenge story, while isaac got a whole character overhaul and well-thought out, complete story arc. like i wish they at least let him properly betray drac on his own terms rather than be goaded into it, i get they were trying show him as being easy to manipulate (but why tho....) or carmilla being especially manipulative. and then s3 happened and that was just a....weirdly porny mess tbh.
i know the general consensus is that the show would've been just fine if they capped it at s2, and i tend to agree but it leaves so much unsaid. idk if it would've been any better to make s3-s4 a straight adaptation of Curse of Darkness and shift the focus entirely to isaac and hector since s1-s2 was almost a straight adaptation of the prior game. i think this was definitely a case in a show where they couldve benefitted from a timeskip to make it work, while still accommodating isaacs story arc. like it wouldve also helped s4 feeling rushed af wrt the resurrection of dracula thread if it had a whole nother season to build up to it, and since that thread was straight lifted from CoD anyway.
like. i really did love the mystery-horror vibes of the lindenfeld arc but having it wedged in between the frankly unnecessary styria arc and whatever the fuck was going on with alucard was hard to get through ngl
also folks say the dialogue is cringy but i thought it was fine...? like yeah sure they started getting a little too liberal with the f-bombs towards the end but i think the dialogue that actually mattered was interesting and had alot of personality behind it, and it was fun seeing the characters play off each other.
and im saying all this perfectly aware of all the shit that went down with the show creator, which is why i waited a good whole 3 years after the fact to watch it so please dont come at me for that

The Bob’s Burgers Movie
“The Bob’s Burgers Movie” feels like just the right amount of special for fans of the show such as myself.
Bob and Linda Belcher are denied an extension on their loan and are forced to pay an amount they can’t afford in one week. Linda’s optimistic, but Bob is stressed out because he could lose everything he’s built. His fears are exacerbated after a giant sinkhole opens right in front of his store. What he soon finds out is that the sinkhole contains a sinister secret.
I watched a few episodes of “Bob’s Burgers” back when it was on Netflix. It got removed from the platform before I could finish what they had, so I never bothered to seek the episodes out. When the trailer for this movie came out, I knew I was going to have to catch up with the show. What I found was that the show was easy to binge. It’s super casual, but still super creative. It even helped me get through COVID-19. I fell in love with the cast of characters, the music, and the jokes. Needless to say, I was excited to watch this movie. The experience of watching this movie was super chill too. It truly felt like everyone in my theater was a fan of the show and we were all just watching a longer episode together. So, how was the movie? Well, I thought it was perfect as a fan of the show. As a normal audience member, I had some problems. Let’s start with the story. The show is pretty lowkey when it comes to its plots. It never tackles anything beyond local sitcom scenarios unless it’s a vignette episode with the kids taking turns telling fantasy stories. This movie felt like the perfect step up from the show’s normal fare. There have been episodes where the restaurant is at risk of being shut down like any episode featuring Hugo, but the movie felt heavier. Bob being so stressed out really made me feel like the restaurant truly could be lost forever. We’ve also gotten episodes involving murder, specifically the suspected murder of Helen and the attempted murder of Felix Fischoeder. The movie actually shows the murder, so the murder mystery with the kids has weight. The animation is so much better. Remembering what Season One looked like compared to how the movie looks makes me happy for the creators to have gone this far. The lighting and shading are more dynamic, the movement is superfluid, and the 3D environment felt seamless. I also enjoyed that this movie incorporated most of the more important characters throughout the series. I feel like they incorporated them naturally and made the setting feel truly lived in. I just wished some of my favorite characters showed up, like Jen and Millie. Now, I want to talk about some aspects that I thought could be better. For starters, it felt like Tina’s subplot was just another attempt at winning the heart of Jimmy, Jr. I feel like it was lackluster for the movie because we’ve seen it so many times at this point. Plus, I don’t like the idea of Jimmy, Jr. ending up with Tina. He’s irredeemable after the episode Nat debuted in. I thought that Gene was also sidelined as well. Louise’s subplot about her hat was cool, but I wish it was handled slightly better. It all boiled down to a misremembrance that felt a bit hollow. I knew Grover was going to be the main villain because he’s the most disposable character that gets introduced into the movie. I mean, he’s technically appeared in two other episodes of the show and when I saw him on screen today, I was trying to figure out if he was an original, one-off character for the movie. Finally, my biggest gripe was the lackluster music. I thought since this was a special thing, the music would be top-notch, but all of them fell a bit flat. I mean, it’s hard to top classics such as “Twinkly Lights”, “Bad Stuff Happens In The Bathroom”, and “The Briefest Of Glances”. Even one of the latest episodes had a banger in “What If They’re Right”. Those songs get stuck in my head all the time. After watching the movie, I didn’t have a single song stuck in my head. Still, as a fan of “Bob’s Burgers”, I feel fulfilled. I feel like this movie rewarded me for sticking around through the whole series. It feels grand and it has heart. I definitely recommend fans watch this movie because it’s still a lot of fun.

What I Watched This Week – 5/5 – 5/11
Tumblr media
‘Tis Time for “Torture,” Princess – I passed on this while it was airing last season because it looked like a one-note comedy centered on food looking delicious, but so many people kept praising it for the characters and the animation/production that I figured I might as well give it a try. Despite my initial impressions and all the warnings I saw not to binge it because the jokes would get tired, I blew through the whole season in short order, chuckling the entire way. The demons do tempt the human princess they’ve captured and are holding prisoner with delicious-looking food to try to get her to divulge secrets, but they also tempt her with cute animals or a trip to the amusement park as part of her “torture”, and the running commentary from her sentient sword growing ever more exasperated with her lack of willpower keeps the gag fresh. The character designs are completely charming, with a good amount of variation to make the large cast easy to tell apart, and they’re animated with a generous amount of style and fluidity. Add it all together with a demon lord in the running for father and husband the year, and you get a thoroughly adorable little comedy. I look forward to season two. 7/10

The Grimm Variations – This Netflix exclusive miniseries takes six stories from Grimms’ fairy tales – Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood, Hansel and Gretel, The Elves and the Shoemaker, The Town Musicians of Bremen, and The Pied Piper of Hamelin – and twists them. The reimagined fairy tales take place in a number of different settings, from Taisho Japan, to fictional far-future, to sci-fi wild west, and flip the characters around while keeping the message of the original somewhat intact. As with any anthology series, it’s a bit of a mixed bag. While I can see something like a running theme through the six episodes, where each one is broadly tied to a stage in a person’s life, from childhood through young adulthood and then through old age, with the stories having completely different casts each time, some hit better than others. In particular, I thought Cinderella, Hansel and Gretel, and the Elves and the Shoemaker were the best written and executed, Little Red Riding Hood was deeply unpleasant to watch with several long scenes of bloody torture, and the Pied Piper was ambitious, but kind of a mess. The Town Musicians had a great cast of female characters, but felt the most aimless of all the stories. If you like fairy tales, it’s definitely worth checking out. 6/10

Blue Giant – People have been showering this movie with so much praise over the past year that I preordered the Blu-Ray release sight unseen, which I very rarely do. Told in the form of a musician’s biopic, it follows the journey of an 18-year-old saxophone player as he moves to Tokyo in search of a place to play jazz, and the whirlwind 18-month period where he was grouped up with a similarly aged pianist and drummer and playing at various jazz clubs around the city. I really wish I saw this in a theater, because the music must have sounded absolutely amazing on a movie theater sound system. As it was, just coming through my little sound system at home, it gave me goosebumps. The music paired up with the emotional story of talented young kids working their asses off and the colorful, impressionistic renderings of the performances was just top notch entertainment. There were a couple spots here and there of 3D CGI that weren’t super well integrated with the excellent 2D animation, and I will always arch my eyebrow in judgement of stories about jazz that don’t tie it to its roots as Black music, but everything else was so good that I almost hit play at the end to immediately re-watch it. 9/10

ok i think i got it out of my system enough to respond to the previous message!!! i just love books i love stories i love READING i have missed it so much. i hope your mom enjoys if you're able to make the muffins!!! and i'm glad you got down safe, unpredictable weather is unfamiliar to me--it is more just a one note song generally until winter and then the weather is just (opening my hands dramatically) wind haha.
and hey i would be so down to watch arcane together with you but i do not have netflix so it would probably all be more difficult than it should be... if you mean it though we can always schedule it for a date & time and watch things very slightly out of sync and talk through discord or something!
hilariously i think those are the exact reasons i love acrylics so much--and they were the most accessible and easy to learn for me when i was younger so i'm very familiar with them, too. i really enjoy being able to feel the things i make and so i love how thick acrylics are, but also FULL RESPECT for watercolor bitches. i do not have the patience to be one outside of class but i love watercolor art it is so cool. and re: stretched canvases i ended up using the square one and made this! but i've got to ask a friend because i know THEY stretch their own canvases and i would like to see if they have tips because. help. how do you do that.
You get me, i love stories I love reading I love when a book reminds me exactly why I love it so much. Because sometimes you go through slumps and you don't feel that connection, like a drought, and when the rain comes its such bliss. A Chorus of Dragons did that for me, I missed the feeling of anticipation and analysis it brought out in me.
I hope she does as well! I might try to make the muffins mini, as I think with how rich they sound like they'll be that'll be better. And it's so interesting to hear about weather other places. Here we have a base of generally dry and warm, with only brief interruptions to that. Today it rained for like half an hour this afternoon and then went back to pleasantly sunny, if overcast. And yesterday it went from legit thunder and lightning to completely clear in 40 minutes as if it'd never been here. it's amazing to me that there are places where when it rains it's just. Raining all day.
And I would also genuinely be down to watch arcane with you, however we work that out. Whether watching slightly out of sync or if we could screen share over discord or something. Whatever it is, I'd be interested!
Kudos to you on the acrylic thing--I can understand what it is people like, they just happen to not be things I like, unfortunately. I've used them a few times before but it's just not my preference. I don't like that my sketch disappears beneath it, I like having the reference. But the people who can use acrylic? Phenomenal, exquisite, I'm in awe. Idk how you do it but I'm saluting you. FULL RESPECT to acrylic bitches. And that is a lovely piece! I can definitely tell it's yours; you have a very distinct style, but I don't know if I can explain it. It's the shapes and the colors, they're very consistent and I can almost always identify something as yours on my dash--though once or twice a piece slipped by
I wish you many successes in figuring out the stretching canvas thing! I respect the...control? That it gives you over your art. Like that's another aspect that is now made to your specifications, and now there's something of you in the canvas. So the piece is even more representative, which is super cool!

Chapter Seven.
After hours of searching for what it could be, what.. I could be, we finally gave up. Not a single sentence or article to give us the clue.
Charlie laughs, "Well at least we know that you can keep it secret, well beside me.."
He jokes, but yet again I wasn't interested.
So we decide to go hang out and hopped in Charlie's car and left.
When I figured out where we were going I was kinda excited, but I couldn't tell Charlie that.
We parked out car in the mall parking lot, and walked inside the huge building.
We walked around but didn't go in any of the stores, I could tell we were getting closer to my favorite store.
But then all that changed as we walked and my stomach was starting to hurt again. After so long of not eating, I couldn't take it.
Then I started to smell the people. They smelt just like a house filled with the air of a warm cooked meal.
But why though?
Was there something here I could eat?
I let go of Charlie's hand for a second and whisper in his ear.
"I'm starting to hurt again, its my stomach."
He looks me in the eyes and he rushes me back to the parking lot.
"BUT WAIT?!" I say before he can start. "What about Hot topic???" I asked. After hearing myself and another smell I knew I couldn't hold back and we should just leave but at the same time I didn't want to let it go that easy.
"We have to get you out of here. It'll be okay maybe next time." He answers rushing me through the automatic doors.
I was so sad. Not being able to be around people was weird and I didn't know why. I couldn't hurt anyone, I knew my own strength but at the same time I was starving and couldn't find anything that I wasn't throwing back up.
So we left to go for a drive.
When we got home, I had to ignore the disappointment just so Charles wouldn't notice.
But when I couldn't anymore I think it made him a little sad.
But we both ignored it, while we watched THE WALKING DEAD on Netflix, it hit me!
In class we learned about mythology and for one day they taught is about Norse mythology!!
It was something to do with the Reaper, but I couldn't quite remember.
So I jumped and and.tols.charles to come with me.
We ran up stairs, after I grabbed his hand and got back on my laptop.
I quickly searched NORSE GODS OF DEATH, in the search engine. "You think you're some kind of God?" He asked me confused.
"No, I think one day we learned about it one day in school!" I told him. I felt so close.
Then I decided to search up, THE GOTHIC GRIM REAPER OF MYTHOLOGY, and the first website read DEMONS, INCUBUS AND ANGELS... WHAT YOU MEED TO KNOW!
So I clicked on it really fast and skimmed through the article.
"There were demon incubus called servatian incubus, they were known to be loyal demon that served death himself, and we're often made from evil rituals and sacrificed made to death, servatian incubus cannot die, although they can be sent to the underworks permanently after a modern exorcism, they are known to be immortal, serve death, and feed of of human insides..."
I paused, the floor beneath me dropped from under me. I.. I had to eat people..?" I asked myself. What? But how? Why...
"Keep reading!" Charles voice brought me down from my head floating off. Oh yeah. So I kept reading.
"You can also get rid of a incubus that serves death by calling a Guild master, also known as a grief hunter.
Incubus are known to come to earth only to possess, use their physic powers for evil, or to obtain super human strength and immortality."
I couldn't read anymore.
My heart sank into my chest. I would literally have to eat another human to not die!! I would have to.. kill. Just so I could live..?? How could I live with myself?
We sat on my bed in silence for a moment. Neither one of us knew what to say.
"Maybe it's wrong.." Charles tried to comfort me. But solemnly I knew it was true. I had tried to eat everything. Everything but people.
I was scared and really feeling hopeless and lost but at the same time I had to fight off.my tears because I wasn't weak.
I was a demon...

Is it possible to become a victim of one's own innovation?
If we Use the Roger´s Five Factors to Understand the Adoption of the Streaming Platforms, we can see why people adopted so fast…
Relative advantage Streaming platforms change the rules of the game, they give their clients the opportunity to decide when, how and for how long they want to watch the content. They were cheaper, and easy to access.
Compatibility, at the beginning they were offering similar content in terms of quality to any product coming for open tv or movie theaters, so for people was very attractive to watch it without ads. Also, you can get access to the content to any of your devices, like TV, tablet, or cell phone.
Complexity, Its easy to sign in and to use it, searching for content and just playing, pause, and adding new features like My list, etc, and also offering customize recommendations and the content is organized in different sections.
Trialability, they offered free trial periods and lower rate to sign in for a period of time.
Observability, a lot of conversation regarding the content in social networks and table conversations., It became hip and trendy to stay at home and watch the content. People even came with a catchy phrase, “Chill out and Netflix”
HOWEVER… THEY COULNDT KEEP UP with the value promise. The Platforms cant produce enough content at the same rate customer consume it. The pressure for new content gets higher every day, therefore they lower the quality of the content to put it out faster… which means a lot of shows are now get canceled and people starts feeling that there is nothing to watch it… competition in the space is fearless, They had to stop troughing massive marketing campaigns and acquisitions of content is getting super expensive and investors now are staring to challenge when are they going to start making profits… that leaves a question on the air, Was all that innovation necessary,? Now we are looking some efforts to reverse what they did, charging a higher price, try to get back control of when the content is release and available and even considering ads model.

So much has happened. Yesterday we went to The Row to support Hatty at Maum.  We got in line for pizza at Bianco b/c a line was already forming before the restaurant opened.  After taking turns entertaining the girls we got in.  We were like, there’s no way it lives up to the hype.  I mean come on, its pizza. But wow it really lived up to the hype.  I didn’t watch the Netflix documentary but Jason described the legend and I knew enough to assume that this was like God’s gift to man in pizza form or something crazy like that.  So I had high expectations too.  But seirously I was blown away by how delicious it was.  We liked the New York style thin pizzas the best.  And I was shocked but I may have liked the Salami the best (which is usually not my thing).  But upon further consideration I think I would love to just eat the regular old Margherita.  Everything else was good (the lemon, the sicilian, the green one, etc.) but the tomato sauce was so good. and the crunch was so satisfying on the thin pizza that’s what I’d want to eat over and over again.
We couldn’t get into Maum b/c the line was too long so we dropped off a box of pizza for Hatty and bounced.  Jason mentioned that his friends were playing pickelball and asked if we wanted to stop by.  I said yeah let’s do it.  We kind of waffled on whether to go or not because we weren’t sure if the timing would even work out but we did.  We go and its actually a ton of fun.  Jen was there so she and I played, while trying to avoid hitting the kids lol.  But Dani wanted water so I took her to the car to get her water but when I get back Jen runs up and she’s like Jason got hurt.  I was like .. no.  because Pete had just gotten injured a few weeks prior.  I walk over and Jason is like I think I tore my achilees.  I feel the back of his heel on his normal leg, and it feels normal but I feel the heel on his other leg and its just mushy.  No bone/tendon.  We immediately go to my mom’s (after a miscommunication w/ my mom) and then realize she’s at our house so we go home and my mom watches the girls while we go to the ER.  Man I felt pretty dirty after being at the hospital b/c there was a homeless guy there that smelled so bad.  and there were people who were yelling out in pain. it was just a weird vibe. they warned us it could take a long time so I went to get everyone homestate, dropped it off for jason and then went home to relieve my mom.  also jason’s phone died so he wanted to keep my phone to stave off his boredom but also so I could contact him.  I felt so naked driving around w/o my phone in the minivan b/c I couldn’t look directions up. I just had to trust my memory (which it was easy to do given we know the Kaiser Sunset so well but still).
I get home, relieve my mom, put the girls to sleep, and then wait.  Eventually I go back to get Jason and he’s waiting with crutches. He has to basically jump on one leg up all of our stairs (our house is so not ADA compliant) and he’s sleeping on the couch right now because it would be too hard for him to sleep in either of the girls’ rooms without waking them up with his crutches.  At first I thought I should sleep on the couch b/c I didn’t see how he could go get dani but he said he could just use the crutches to go into her room and then throw her on the bed lol.  But we realized he can just take her out of the crib and then she can walk on her own.
Today I took the girls to church and jason stayed home and oh my god it was not fun.  I couldn’t focus on any convo because dani was just a menace at the table.  I was terrified whenever she grabbed one of the ceramic plates, sure she was going to throw it down on the ground and send shards flying.  But lunch was actually super delicious.  I’m already craving the tomato and egg with hand cut noodles.  I might try to make tomato and egg this week.
After we went to get boba and then ofc dani poops. so we walk over to a courtyard area with a bathroom but I have to carry dani the whole time.  In total after we got there, I changed dani’s diaper 2x (thank god for trudy providing us with wipes and diapers) and I took naya (and wes haha) to the bathroom 3x. The whole time was just a brief intermission between going to the bathroom.
I felt spent by the time we got home but had to do some work.  I’m scared that there’s going to be a lot of work this week since people are really going to be back from vacation now.  But just got to face it head on.
Also I really hope the ortho calls soon so Jason can go in and ask for the surgery.  We both want him to get it because it seems like the recovery time is shorter and recovery is more assured.  Johnny or Paul was saying today that they know someone who tore their ACL like 3x.  Tore it once and then every time they tried to take their boot off it would just re-tear again.  I don’t want that for Jason. It seems like if you just do natural healing, you just have to hope your tendon re-attaches together and it eventually heals, which could take like a full year.  What a weird thing to happen.  Stiill doesn’t feel fully real.
