⛓️ When art and life become one ⛓️
I believe fairy tales have a great deal of therapeutic power. And there's nothing quite like a good story.
As I’ve written here a few times before, I first started watching Outlander in 2020 – a challenging year for us all. At that time, we all needed a good story to take our minds off reality. And to move into the catharsis that art offers. You can imagine my excitement when I realised that two actors (who were so obviously in love) playing the characters in the story were born around the same time as the characters they were playing.
James Alexander Malcolm MacKenzie Fraser, born on 1 May. Sam Roland Heughan, born on 30 April. Both Taurus, just like me. Claire Beauchamp Randall Fraser, born on 20 October. Caitríona Mary Balfe, born on 4 October. Both Libra.
And, as you might expect, in both the play and real life, she is older than he is. Isn't it wonderful how things just fall into place sometimes? There’s always something to ponder, think about and enjoy.
Tumblr media
But it's been a while since we've seen joy in "enjoy." The Taylor Swift concert is the exception that proves the rule, here.
I'm getting tired of the low-level storytelling we've been presented with for a while now. This story is the worst of the worst. It’s a pretty poor selection of C, D, and E cinema.
And it's pretty sad how two people, who literally built their relative public recognisability on being the 'hottest couple on the screen', are now pathetically role-playing their supposed 'real love lives'. And neither of them succeeds. They're also pretty weak actors in their roles of romantic lovers (I'm thinking mainly of Sam here). Let me just say that they're not pathetic only when they're together. *** *** *** When I saw the blurry, embarrassing footage from this weekend's Giorgio Armani Tennis Classic (tagged #ad on Sam's Instagram), my first thought was that it was a spectacle for us, our Tumblr fandom. There's no one else who would be interested in something you have to look for with a magnifying glass, zooming in, spending long minutes stopping frames of film. Then I got reminded about the Wimbledon Tennis Championships back in July 2019 and another poor performances by 'bride' and her 'groom' a month before their 'wedding'.
Do you remember those pictures?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
First wife, second wife, Claire Beauchamp Randall Fraser and Laoghaire MacKenzie, I mean, Evie Greenwood, a primary teacher.
You know, realism and art all blend together.
We first saw this kind of kissing being reduced to sucking on the partner's upper lip in what we were forced to think was Sam’s ‘real life’, and then we saw the same thing on screen.
Tumblr media
And what about Sam's somewhat embarrassing performance in The Couple Next Door? Which other actor in that film has exposed themselves so much (and so pointlessly), in a literal sense?
How many of us thought Sam's performance in the erotic scenes in TCND was not sexy at all, but disgusting?
I did.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wasn't that display of Sam's rhythmically moving buttocks as distasteful as his other performance a few weeks ago?
Tumblr media
Seriously, I would never want my husband/partner/father of my children to behave like this. There's no money worth it. But maybe there is.
Tumblr media
Sometimes I feel sorry for them, sometimes I don't. Sometimes I remind myself of how jealous Cait can be.
Tumblr media
How on earth do they manage to live like that?

Not Meghan and her dog biscuits! 🤣🤣🤣
Either she has completely lost it, or she got herself a sense of humor and learnt hope to troll herself.
Anyway, so my question is this ... I've been thinking about this ever since an anon sent ask about the Windsor walkabout and Meghan being drunk. ... Do you think there is a chance that Meghan might actually be a cookoo nutcase who gains a false bravado only when she is high af?? There have been so many instances where she just appears so out of it, the only logical explanation would be that she was drunk!
There's the windsor walk-about. The 2019 Wimbledon she attended with her friends, where she did look loopy. The 2016 Invictus opening ceremony, she wore the maroon dress and leather jacket, wild hair, Harry and Trudeau were both side eyeing her. There's the 2015/16 Wimbledon where she trying to scootch into the row and cressida and her friends are side eyeing her (she was later escorted out of both events, pics available). There's the appearances from earlier this year from the Invictus event in Canada where she is maniacally eyeing the camera, giggling and talking to herself (again, videos available). Then there's the polo match where she wore that tent dress and carried baby Archie around, videos from that day were plenty and they all just painted a weird picture - Meghan just looked paranoid and too self conscious.
I had always found this to be improbable just because of the fact that she is a public figure so concerned with her image. So, I simply chalked it up to my own bias against her. But now, to see that other people also think of that as drunk behavior is giving me pause.
Maybe Meghan does a shot or two before appearances to gain confidence? Surely, her behaviour IS definitely OBVIOUSLY odd and it's not just me (or that anon) thinking so?
There have been rumors for a very long time that there are two functioning (and sometimes non-functioning) addicts and alcoholics in that marriage.
I don't consider the June 2019 polo match to be an example of altered behavior due to substance abuse. That was a show of someone who'd barely spent any time with her child pretending to be maternal for an audience and failing spectacularly at it.

🎤 Pre-tournament interview with Alexander before the Canada Masters:
Tumblr media
Interviewer: Let's talk a bit about the last few months, and, obviously, it's been more than a year now since you had this horrific injury. How long did it take you to get back to where you were before? [Do] you feel like you are there?
Alexander: Yeah, I'm there when I'm pain-free. I feel like, with the injury that I had, there's always, like, kind of, setbacks, in a way. I felt like I was extremely good during the French Open, and then the week after, and then during Wimbledon, I, again, kind of, had setbacks, in a way. Then, now, I feel very good, I mean, in Hamburg, I felt very good.
But, you know, the periods of times where I feel amazing, they get longer, and the periods of times where I don't feel so good, they get shorter and shorter, so that's a positive to, kind of, look forward to, because, in my opinion, you know, I'm moving quite well again, I'm probably at the same speed that I was. But I have to be pain-free to be able to do all those things, so… yeah, it kind of goes day by day, but most of the days now, it's great (smiles).
Interviewer: But you are not pain-free?
Alexander: I am right now, but that could change tomorrow, after tomorrow, you know, and then that can change again, you know, three days later, so it's always like a here-and-there, kind of, situation because, at the end of the day, yes, I had this horrific injury, and the initial injury's, kind of, healed, but because the foot is so weak, and because the foot is not used to the loads that it had before, it still needs time to adjust. You know, I'm still, you know, 88kg, I'm still 2m tall, and I still move in a way where I use my foot in extreme positions; I slide a lot, I go into stretches and all that, so… yeah, you need to be 100% sure of it.
Interviewer: But I mean, you had to literally learn how to walk again.
Alexander: In a way, yeah.
Interviewer: Was this quite a defining experience in your career, do you think?
Alexander: I think it makes you value the things that you have. You know, if you're injury-free and if you're pain-free, but your forehand is not working well, or your backhand is not working well, you focus on those things so much, but you stop appreciating that you're actually healthy, you stop appreciating that you're actually able to play every single day, and I think, yeah, that's the most important thing for every athlete.
Interviewer: And now you're coming back to Canada, I mean, this place has obviously meant a lot since that 2017 final. Was that, or is that, still one of your best memories of your career?
Alexander: Yeah, I think especially here in Canada, I haven't been back to Canada since 2019, I haven't been back here in Toronto since 2018 for different reasons. But for sure, I mean, beating Federer in a Masters final, especially at a very young age, it was very special for me. But, you know, I'm still, you know, 26 years old, and I hope I can still create some great memories.
Interviewer: You were 20 when you won that title. What was life on the tour like back then?
Alexander: Well, very new, very fresh (smiles). But I feel like I have more experience now, I feel like I've learned a lot of things as well, so definitely, a few years, you know, on top of me, help me develop, in a way.
❤️ Such a lovely and moving pre-tournament interview with Alexander. It makes me sad hearing how he still suffers with recurrent ankle pain every now and then, but I suppose it is to be expected with the level of trauma he suffered from the injury 😔 On a more positive note, I am glad he has longer periods of feeling well than not, and I am happy that he is looking forward to playing in Canada again 🥰
Hopefully he can carry the positivity and incredible form we saw from him in Hamburg. Let's go, Alexander 🔥

A loooong post, and I know long essays can be annoying, so putting behind a cut, but I have some Thoughts when I see a post like this by @willandkate
- First: I’m not sure who you are trying to convince with your post? Also, you start with William’s 2016 statement, but then the rest of your post tries to make a case for why statements are not the BRF thing and that other gestures were made. The statement from William shows there is precedent for statements supporting Harry and Meghan, so your argument isn’t very strong.
- Small gestures were not going to cut it! The response to Meghan is on a whole other level, and that should have necessitated other measures IMO. If you are having to sum up all the small moments for fellow royal watchers, who pay attention to this stuff, how is anybody else even going to notice?
- Stop normalizing the press abuse of royal women. If your response to the abuse Meghan gets, is to sum up what other royal women dealt with in the past, you’ve lost the argument. The amount of abuse any of these women got is not ok, and you going straight to mentioning that abuse is a means to deflect from talking in depth about all the facets of what Meghan has been dealing with. A big issue in the royal fandom is still the amount of people unwilling to talk about and understand what only Meghan deals with within the BRF (racism and xenophobia). It makes some people uncomfortable to talk about it and it’s fucking sad. The BRF wasn’t ready for growth, but neither were some people in the royal fandom. It’s a big problem to continue to see this conflating of Meghan’s treatment with the treatment of other royal women in the BRF.
- The abuse Meghan gets is contributing to a national (and international lbr) debate about racism in the UK. POC in commonwealth countries are looking at this and it reflects badly on the BRF. This is a huge added element to the treatment of Meghan, that is not present in abuse that other royal women got in the past. That Kate got called ‘Waity Katy’ by the press, dit not lead to the possibility of negative sentiment in CW countries towards the monarchy. This was said last month:
“This week a senior Commonwealth figure told me that the tabloid treatment of Meghan – so clearly racist to observers in other parts of the world, while large parts of the British public remain in denial – is having a knock-on effect in making it harder for him to promote Britain abroad.” - Afua Hirsch, The Guardian
- You summing up all these perceived gestures, does not say anything about how Meghan (and Harry) experienced that ‘support’. Are you deciding for Harry and Meghan that it was enough? Did you really expect them to say otherwise during the engagement interview? And those small moments William and Kate spoke about them, what else were they going to say? On the surface, a show of support, but tells us absolutely nothing about how things are behind closed doors. Your post decidedly ignores that.
- After all this supposed support, Harry and Meghan still left. Fact. Is that all on them? The warm embrace of the Cambridges must have felt a bit too warm for them I guess. They couldn’t handle all the love. Your post lacks analysis into the possible reasons for Harry and Meghan and the shared blame of different parties in things coming to a head in this way.
- I also have the following question: if you are going to call out the Sussexes for overshadowing other royals, you have to be fair. What did you think of Kate launching her 5 question survey on the same day as Charles’ big speech in Davos? Is that not overshadowing him? Kate had been working on this for two years, but she just has to launch on the same day as a big Charles speech, that is important to him? Genuinely curious how you view that. And if a promo for Harry and Meghan’s documentary overshadows a Cambridge tour, seems to me that is a Cambridge problem. Harry and Meghan have no say over when ITV airs a promo.
- Harry and Meghan didn’t deserve a statement of support, because they made the announcement that they were leaving, without consent? Weird take, as it’s odd to say in retrospect that they didn’t deserve a statement earlier in 2019, when things were at their worst, because at the start of 2020 they made an announcement. That’s after the fact. The BRF knew about Harry and Meghan entertaining the possibility of stepping back. Fact. There was a reason they felt the need to go public with it now, as it has been mentioned they were halted and sent away by courtiers when they were trying to discuss things with the queen and Charles. Your post doesn’t explore the reason for why Harry and Meghan may have done what they did and incorrectly places all of the blame on them.
- I don’t know if you watched Harry and Meghan’s documentary? A couple obviously struggling, and Meghan’s hard time as a royal is not going to be made better simply by a pat on the back from Kate after Serena lost at Wimbledon. It’s wild that you, and others, think that is doing enough to show support.
- None of what you’ve said takes into account the KP press approach over the past couple of years. For example, any small gesture of support from Kate to Meghan gets severely undermined when KP is completely fine with a press narrative meant to embiggen Kate, at Meghan’s expense. It’s naive to believe that KP has had no part in that and I’ve yet to see a Kate/Cambridge fan accept that reality and own that it’s been happening. The reality has always been that the BRF are fine throwing each other under the bus. PR and actually thinking about how that makes them look has never been the strong suit of this family.
- You know what else undermines any small gesture of support for Meghan? The seemingly huge gestures of support from the queen to Andrew! If Liz keeps taking Andrew out and about, I sure as fuck am not still giving her kudos for taking Meg on an engagement back in June of 2018! And sure, it would’ve been smart optics for Harry and Meghan to visit Balmoral, and I would have advised them of that if I worked for them, but also; should they have visited before or after the queen was seen going to church with a smiling Andrew the day after Epstein died? Effectively showing she doesn’t give a fuck about her own image either. You could argue that isn’t a great advertisement for wanting to visit the queen.. Plus Harry and Meghan live(d) in Windsor, where they queen spends most of her time anyway.
- Speaking of the Queen, it is so often ignored how much influence she does have over the press. I’m sure over the years there has been many a time where she has intervened on behalf of the likes of Andrew. Why is it that Meghan has to have the stiff upper lip? Because this is what all royal women just have to face?
- I find it odd that you are only blaming Harry and Meghan for possibly feeling isolated. A struggling couple, dealing with a lot, should receive most of that blame? That darn Harry and Meghan are just being so difficult because they didn’t feel that William and Kate standing near them that time in Westminster Abbey was enough!1! They are so ungrateful.
- Harry and Meghan leaving looks bad for the BRF, however you slice it. It reflects badly on them. Even if you don’t believe that, I’m sure you still feel that all this drama should have been prevented, for the sake of your faves? If this has been a topic of conversation with Harry and Meghan since last year, then why not also make it a topic of conversation how the rest of the BRF could and should have done more to prevent them choosing to leave?
All in all, your post on this is very superficial and lacks nuance, but that tracks with what I’ve seen from most Cambridge fans. I know there is no point convincing you, and others, just like there is no point in your post trying to convince Sussex fans. But this had to be said and honestly I’ve been sitting on this since after the documentary aired.

Damn Him
Inspired by the pictures and gifs of Wimbledon 2019
You can hardly stay focused on anything with an excited Tom dressed in a new suit for a day at the All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club. All you want to do is peel that expensive suit off of that body.
Pairing: Tom Hiddleston/Reader || Word Count: 1.6k || Rated: T || Warnings: Tom Hiddleston being a full course meal. I mean seriously, how does it get any yummier than him?
Tumblr media
Steps were heard in the hallway coming toward your bedroom. Perfect timing, you had just slipped into your floral dress and you needed to be zipped up.
“Will you zip me up?” You called out and not but a few seconds later, you felt his fingers on your back. Tom pulled on the zipper for what seemed like a century, his movements were slow as if he were savoring the task. His breath hit the back of your neck and was soon replaced with his lips as he pressed a couple of kisses to the nape.
“Is this new?”
You bit your lip, “Yeah…” Your reply was breathless and you mentally cursed him for doing this to you before the two of you went out for the afternoon.
“I like it. Fits you perfectly.” His lips touched your cheek in a quick peck as he moved around you to the closet.
So do your clothes. You thought with a grin.
With your bottom lip between your teeth, your eyes were glued to his deliciously curved backside as you watched him go, his navy blue pants hugged him generously, giving you a very pleasing view. His light blue dress shirt was tight around his upper back and shoulders, showing off his lean but muscular build. The view was brief as he disappeared into the closet, but returned a few moments later with his new racket patterned tie that you had gotten him for this birthday a few months back. It warmed your heart to see his eyes light up when he'd opened it that day, a long lasting smile graced his lips and you knew he loved it.
“Return the favor?” He asked but you were already holding out your hand for him to pass you the tie. You ran your fingers along it, feeling its tiny ridges as you held it in your grip before looping it around his neck so that you could fasten it. You noticed the childlike grin on his face, the one he typically got when he was about to go somewhere that he thoroughly enjoyed.
“Are you excited?”
His grin never faltered as he shook his head stiffly, trying not to move too much as you fixed his tie. “No… Maybe."
“Don’t lie to me. You’re ecstatic. You can barely keep still.” You giggled, thinking about how adorable it was that this kind of stuff made him this happy. It was the little things.
Tom chuckled sheepishly, “It’s supposed to be an interesting tournament this year. A lot of promising players.”
You finished up with his tie and couldn’t help but stand up on the tip of your toes with your arms draped around his neck to give him a kiss. He placed his hands to your back and brought you a little closer, bringing your lips more firmly against his. You groaned into the kiss as he ran his warm, slick tongue across your bottom lip. Pulling back, you gave him a playful glare, "Now that's not fair. We don't have time for this."
"You started it." He gave your lips a short, chaste kiss and removed himself from you.
"Wh- How do you figure that?!" You called after him as he walked away. Tom left you to go finished getting ready, leaving you standing there with your heart beating fast and wondering how in the hell you started it. If he was talking about your quickly intended kiss, then he was wrong! It wasn't your fault he responded so well to it.
You shook your head as you slipped on a pair of heels and went to fetch your jewelry, your mind completely stuck on that kiss. Damn him.
As you were putting your earrings in, you saw him step into view by the reflection of the mirror on your vanity.
Oh fuck me.
Now with his completed look in your view, you felt all of your breath leave your lungs. He looked like a damn treat. No, scratch that. He looked like an entire fucking meal. A majestic lion is what really came to mind when you first laid eyes on him, his mane and beard was groomed to your liking. His naturally waved hair slicked back and his beard neatly trimmed. Your eyes wandered downward to the rest of his body. The darkness of his suit made him look taller than he already was, the jacket fit him to a T. Now that you had distance between you, it gave you a better view of his whole situation... and more importantly, his package situation.
You swallowed, returning your attention to the earring you had tried to stick into your earlobe at least five times, but failed. Your distracted movements had seemingly gone unnoticed by Tom, who had come up behind you to place his hands onto your waist.
"Are you ready to go? Our car will be here in ten minutes."
"Yeah, almost." Finally, you focused and got the earring to cooperate and thread into your ear.
Tom's hands slid his hands to your stomach, pulling you against his chest in a warm embrace. You rested your arms on top of his and squeezed them in return. You turned your head and he kissed you a couple of times before pulling back to look at you. "You look absolutely beautiful, my darling. You make me a proud husband."
You giggled, gazing into his pretty blue eyes that were staring back into yours. "I'm just as proud to be your wife. Look how handsome you are in your new Ralph Lauren suit. Such a stud."
Tom glanced down at himself and you felt the tips of his curls brush against the side of your neck with the tilt of his head. "Is that what this is?" He mumbled and a chuckle escaped his lips as he looked back up at you with a playful grin, "A stud, huh?"
"Yes," You sighed dramatically, "I'm going to have to bat all the old ladies off of you today."
"Nevermind that you imply that only someone old would be attracted to me or that Tennis is only spectated by older individuals…" You couldn't help but giggle at his hilarious assumption. He raised his eyebrows in a playfully shocked look, "You would harm all of those elderly women?"
You let a wicked grin form on your lips, "You make me do crazy things, Mr. Hiddleston."
Tom laughed, his eyes sparkling with amusement. "Crazy things, hm? Why don't you show me what-" His suggestion was cut short by his cell phone ringing in his pocket. He pressed a kiss to your cheek and answered the call, walking off to talk to the person on the other end of the line.
You assumed that it was your driver, reaching over to take your small handbag from the vanity and following him out. Sure enough, Tom was ushering you out of the house and into the car.
The whole way over, you glanced over at Tom as he chatted with your longtime, trusted driver about today's plans, all the while unknowingly holding your undivided attention as his hand held yours between you, his thumb brushing your knuckles constantly, almost like he was reminding you that his sexy self was sitting there so close. They discussed what they thought the outcome would be and other Tennis related politics, which kept him too busy to catch you eyefucking him in his suit.
You wanted nothing more than to thread your fingers into that golden brown hair and tug him to you. Fantasies about fucking him in the backseat right then and there ran wild in your mind.
Damn him.
As much as you loved to see his suit on, you couldn't wait to take it off of him later. No really, you couldn't wait. You couldn't focus on the match, you didn't have a clue most of the time. You tried not to keep looking at him during the entirety of the event, but you couldn't help it. He just looked so good. Thank goodness for that unfaltering focus of his, you were free to oogle him as much as you had liked without him scolding your lack of attention toward the game.
The day dragged on, seeming like it lasted for weeks before you were finally on your way home. Tom was in a good mood, chatting happily with driver about the outcome while your hand rested on his thigh, mostly going unnoticed. He draped his arm around you when you'd done it, but that's about it. Gosh, he was so oblivious sometimes. Sometimes he had no idea the affect he had on you.
The moment the driver stopped outside of your house, you were ready to go inside. Obviously, Tom was not. He kept his conversation going, his enthusiasm would have been cute if arousal wasn't swirling around in your belly with anticipation.
Finally, after you couldn't take it anymore, you laid your hand gently on his arm, "Tom…"
He looked at you with the realization that you were waiting on him and flashed you an apologetic look. "Sorry love. We'll go inside now." He turned back to the driver and said his goodbyes before the two of you exited the car.
You thought you were home free when Tom stepped out of the car, until the driver said something and Tom turned back to answer him.
"Ohhhh no you don't." You tugged Tom's arm and he gasped, quickly saying goodbye to him.
"What's this about?"
"I've been mentally undressing you all day, I'm not waiting a second longer." You grabbed his tie and pulled him toward the house as he grinned at you.
"So about these crazy things I make you do, Mrs. Hiddleston. Care to show me now?"
"Oh trust me, Mr. Hiddleston, I plan to."

Hidden depths , entertaining alliance
Wonder about part of a film, or Nespresso cameo? Hidden depths made me think of a wine cellar and maybe wine advert?
Markle Sparkles , well WORN
Double entendre , referring to the BBC show and public taking notice of articles on excessive jewelry she has but more importantly noting changes to engagement ring and asking why?
Antagonistic font wedding 2.0 l wonder she wanted that emerald tiara wasn’t allowed it and was angry, wondering if she will not be allowed to use the font kept in the Tower of London and she is throwing a fit over that!
Tight for nation of royals..
We have seen that and it will continue. They are closing ranks and even at events she attends or will attend it’s very frosty!
Wolffish ultimatum, SHIP out?
Definitely the financial reporting by Chris Ship, making the public even angrier. SHIP is upper case, several meanings to me, one be Patronship, l think especially of the theatre. Might she lose some of her ships?
A Firm distaste for Moniker is regarding using the name of the previous Duke of Sussex for Archie.
To be or not to be WAS the question
Seems that something was offered but she refused and there is no turning back!

Diamonds are a friends worst girl
Hmmm is JM involved somehow, fake jewelry and lots of public notice about her jewelry
Evil is the route of all money Excellent news
I am wondering if money has been wired, notice the word route of money, nefarious people wiring or being wired money.
An Easter promise will miss the children, this is obviously the Cambridge’s tour that was announced, meaning the children will stay at home.
Will English girls receive a royal cheer?
This is clear reference to the women’s soccer team playing in the female World Cup.
A-tiresome LIST doesn’t impress this hallowed chapel
Whatever A listers she invites to the Christening are not worthy of the honour of either being a royal, fake we know, godparent or being in that Holy place.

Hickory Wood tests public water.
The two words are capitalized HW. I can think of only one HW in the news, friend of Epstein, l cannot figure this out at all.
Isolated arrogance fuels national distain
Distain vs disdain, mean to stain the honour of… disrespect for BRF , tradition. The word isolated confounds me, is the person isolated or are the behaviours isolated, meaning infrequent??
Privileged puppets pulling strings net a quiet insider.
This had something to do with Wimbledon, the word net. I cannot think …l am no emsi
Back scratching…but one’ get one free.
I wonder if this means not just one Obama daughter at Wimbledon but both.
Wolffish medication control kicks in.
LG supervision ensuring medical treatment and medication are kicking in, which is crude way to say, the medication (s) are starting to be effective for what they were prescribed for.
Conception.Deception.Born in the USA??? Was possible….
Did the surrogate fly to America and delivery the baby there? But was possible, meaning maybe some uncertainty.
“My Little President” shawl-y not!!
“My Little President” is an English animation, l can’t figure beyond that. The shawl may be reference for a Christening baby blanket or shawl that the O family gifts the baby.
A Royal 2020 hatched ‘matched’ dispatched .
Hatching, matching dispatching was a CBC show about ten years ago about a family that owned a bridal shop, ambulance service and funeral home all in one stop shopping😂
Hatched lI see this as a pregnancy ? Eugenie, Zara, Catherine,
Matched, l see as possible wedding for Princess Beatrice.
Dispatched l see as final of justice tied up for mm.
This is my best for a very confusing riddle

MM ANON INTERPRETATION
MM ANON … An independence collective four a small celebration …absolutely rejected by California dreaming,… two people’s separated by a common language. Must try harder. A steady drizzle followed by a gathering down-poor. Subjected, inspected rejected by a wolfish grin. Re-habitual behaviour causes confusion. A font-farewell.
It’s July 4th, Happy 4th to our American friends😊 🇺🇸! sounds like only four people to celebrate with, l wonder about only four at the Christening. I wonder if her mother, ie California, is unable or unwilling to come.
Separated by common language…sounds like some legal issues between the U.K. and the U.S. needed to try harder to settle.
Steady drizzle…down pot, not pour… steady dri0 drip in the media and a gusher is coming…also poor, she has no longer got endless money being supplied to her, hence poor, noted at Wimbledon she wore shabby, for Wimbledon clothes that she had previously worn.
Baby, subjected to DNA, results inspected, no DNA from Harry, rejected, not royal. Wolffish grin, LG has tightened things even further.
Font-farewell, NO LILY FONT!! Not a royal baby!

MM ANON, PG INTERPRETATION
Buzz lightyear phrase was ‘to infinity and beyond ‘ sounds like he may have already been Christened.lily font was used? I am baffled.
Little Lord Fauntleroy is an old English story. Concise involves a scheming woman trying to take the place of nobility for money. Sound familiar? Also a young lad who is taken under the wing of a benefactor. I wonder if the Queen, due to Christian charity will be the benefactor for this poor child.
Photos already taken, grim, stoic faces by faces by POW and DOC. As per usual photos are black and white and Instagram style.
We might see an earlobe? 🤪
Mm will be asked to move back to America. But she doesn’t want anything to stop her current path ie TIRADE.
Give a little take a lot, she may agree to a move but take ££££££££££.
I get no sense of , adoption, if surrogate, whose egg? Who knows?
Think of this as you will, l can’t get more out of it. I am VERY saddened if the Lily font was used…..we may have to breathe and take some awful tasting medicine, metaphorically, as this continues.
My prayer of protection stands firmly. Let’s support one another, this is not just social media interest. This is the very foundation of all we have ever known. The Queen is on every piece of money, coinage, stamps etc etc.

MM ANON … Week Foundations contravene building good relationships,Controversy ahead. Air brushed into infant history, well worth the millions. Total blackout at fortresses frog shack. The slow chip of de-Nile unearth a river of exposures. Photos Don’t lie…… unless you suppress the truth. An old AGE issue comes to light, but quickly buried.
Week foundations………the separation of the ‘fab four’ foundation contravene, means prohibition of conduct of order, there are issues, with the new foundation, we have seen unusual things like who owns the copyright to SR, or trademark. Does week infer problems arising soon? Like in a week?? Controversy ahead, maybe to some already here!
Air brushed infant into history well worth the millions. Photos airbrushed? Seems others have said they notice more than just that. Millions?? Surely photographer wouldn’t charge millions, surrogate?? Or another??? Or others even?? I am being very careful with my wordage.
Total blackness at frog shack……no one living there, so that continues.
Slow chip of de-Nile unearths a river of exposure photos don’t lie…..Nile river. Are we back to Morocco and that part of the world? Will photos be unearthed, term used in archaeology, unearth, clear photos??? Unless they are suppressed….who knows at this point.
An old AGE issue, evidence of real age comes out but quickly hidden.

MM ANON INTERPRETATION BY PG😊
MM Anon
MM ANON, Tangled up in BLUE ,films the southern district. Steering a path through double jeopardy will bring the scum to the surface. Immunity will be bought to bury embarrassment. Right … royally screwed Six ways from Sunday. A glossy editorial won’t hide past buried bodies. A safe full of secrets ‘and only one hidden kea
As l had submitted earlier the SDNY , Southern District New York is the largest and does the racketeering, organized crime, terrorism etc they are the elite in America. BLUE , old fashioned naughty films were called blue film….safely say any films they have are beyond the pale of naughty.
Slow solid case against JE has been built or is still to avoid double jeopardy with the case in Florida he got a slap on the wrist. I can’t believe this is involving mm…..this is much much MUCH worse than anything l had imagined
Immunity to avoid embarrassment….who gets immunity PA? I don’t know …
Right….royally screwed…someone Royal is in big trouble hence the of screwed, double entendre.
Six ways from Sunday….will something drop in six days from yesterday??
Big mm Vogue issue won’t hide things she has long long buried.bad things.
A safe full of secrets and only one kea…..kea is a bird in NZ…….major player in media is RM. That’s as big league as can get.

PG INTERPRETATION OF MM ANON
MM Anon
MM ANON, not so much ‘Humbug humbug as Humbert humbert. Love labours “lost”. Who was REALLY Directing the “Traffic”. NO CAMERAS’ a spoonful of sugars help the medicine go down. All the Presidents men’ and women!!! “ “we’re going to need a bigger yacht!!” “Well whats the real benefits of being mega rich.” Are you serious!! ……………“I’m untouchable “.
The film , Lolita , is about a professor who rents a room for the summer. The landlady has a daughter about 12. The entire film, she tries to seduce the man but he has no eyes for her. He has developed a totally sick perverse sexual obsession for the child.
Loves labour’s “lost” we have had this BRF from MM ANON.
It is from Shakespearean play where three men decide not to take company of women for three years to pursue studies. It’s kind of a bet, like that Seinfeld episode but nothing about any of this is funny.
Who was REALLY directing Traffic? Steven Soderbergh directed the film. His films are in the realm of sex, violence etc. Interesting, he also directed the film Sex, Lies and Videotape. Who REALLY directed , another double entendre from MM ANON, is LG directing the media flow, ie traffic?
No cameras, no photos at Wimbledon, her sugars are still 100% moving, working all the machinations going on.
All the presidents men and women! Many are working and have been to come to this point in the Epstein case. Also title of the old film about the two newspaper journalists who broke the watergate mess. Does this mean politicians are involved and we have high up people seeking immunity, especially women, refer the article posted today here about the four women recruiters of underage girls. This is all so perverse!
Need a bigger boat in Jaws because the shark was much larger than they thought, here the word yacht is used, l take this to mean, this goes deeper involving more people than first thought.
Benefits., being untouchable. The ultra elite are narcissistic, remind you of anyone?, get anything and l MEAN ANYTHING they want. Seems one has now been called to answer for his crimes…many many untouchables are quaking.

PG INTERPRETATION OF MM ANON
MM Anon
MM ANON,… universal media backlash tells diva “ stop digging. ‘A Royal demands………“protocol, protocol, protocol !! Blog parties at royal residence enthuse laughter and contempt. Future monarchy enjoys riding this CREST. … “No worries” she’s never unattended with sophisticated surveillance. The southern district likes a deeper, longer shade of orange. A Malt-Tease Falcon.
She has been mercilessly criticized in the media, diva to stop digging herself in deeply and deeper dislike from the public and most royals too!
Protocol…….her outfit and conduct at Wimbledon we’re atrocious, someone gave her the gears for it.
We have heard rumours that the royals gather bi-weekly to read the blogs. Sounds like some are laughing, as we predicted here, and one person, hmmm who could it be finds contempt in the blogs.
Future monarchy riding high in popularity, especially Catherine, don’t we love💜💜💜💜💜 our Cambridge family? CREST capitalized, the crest of an ocean wave or mountain either way you’re high up ie popular, well loved.
A reassurance that she is well under supervision and never a second alone with that baby, which by the looks of today , would be ghastly unsafe.
SDNY, still strongly inferring there is some criminal conduct that she may trad3 the khaki dress for orange jumpsuit. When? Yesterday, it was six ways from Sunday, l proposed it might be six days from Sunday who knows. But certainly sounding dire for her.
Maltese Falcon is my favourite old films, all sorts of intriguing, unsavoury, grifters trying to get their hands on a worthless statue of a falcon. Here it is MALT-TEASE. Besides the obvious grifter connection, is she drinking a lot of malt liquor and eating Malteasers? Lol

PG INTERPRETATION OF MM ANON
MM Anon
MM ANON …a tentative return for a final privacy. Boxed in on all snides. An offer of “Blockbuster”proportions sends the greys apoplectic. A Frogumental resentment causes more stroppy headlines. Media throws caution an ill wind. (Brothers in arms’ …… around each other.…) LG will enjoy a Stepford trouble & strife. August is a wicked month
Tentative return….possible that she will attend the finals to watch SW, she wanted pricey…no photos, so this use of privacy is referring being at Wimbledon. Yikes where will she sit? Might she bring two dollies and Malteasers? Oh that’s mean, sorry, not sorry 😮😊 Boxed in on all snides, she may be in the royal box or not but lots of side-eyes and tsks tsks A’s took place last time, people too polite to boo, but this could happen people are so disgusted with her.
‘Blockbuster’ , don’t know if it still exists due to my own health situation but that was a rental of movies DVD etc. So if this inferring she can watch a video of Lion King versus walking the red carpet and attending?? Oh , madness, and madness intertwined, greys is this reference to her real hair colour, that’s too easy. Not sure .
Frogmental, play on words, Frogmore Cottage and mental, as in mental state, resentment and ensuing behaviour of her part will bring more horrible headlines. Bad PR, lets think even two weeks ago, did we fathom things would have steam rolled as they have??
Media throws caution an ill wind, brothers in arms. Previous MM ANON used the phrase six ways from Sunday, l proposed that possibly six days from last Sunday something might big happen. I take this that the media, all together, brothers 8n arms, will let loose all the information they have been sitting on for so long, and the combined media will be scathing. Let’s be ready to hear things, even we had not fathomed!
LG will enjoy Stepford trouble and strife. Step ford wife, from film and tv show, wealthy neighbourhood, each man married to gorgeous, perfectly dressed, obedient , no mind of her own due to being brain altered into a robotic. So LG Cheshire Cat grin at her behaviours and his long work dealing with this mess is nearing an end. The only way she could be royal, would be the Stepford way, which obviously isn’t possible nor wanted🤓. God bless our LG!
August is a wicked month, hey not that wicked my birthday is in August! The cover of the book is a photograph done by Lord Snowdon! Book by Edna O’Brien. Woman separated from her husband, city she dislikes, finds herself living in a city she hates - a place that denies her past and offers no hope for her future. Determined to change her life, she decides to go south in search of sun and companionship. Is this foreshadowing. Going South? Africa? When is justice coming?? We wait and see.
I am nowhere near being an emsi247 , 💜

PG INTERPRETATION OF MM ANON , sorry it’s so late
MM ANON …Rumours are not rumours. “ The facts ma’am just the facts”. “It is twice blessed”… “every breath you take,I’ll be watching you”. Tunnel vision gives an odious perspective. ‘You can take a girl out of the yacht’but you can’t ……………… “. Witness for the prosecution will be her downfall …Testis Hostili.
I haven’t had a chance to read the blog to see if anyone else tackled this but l will give it a go.
Rumours are not rumours. What we have been hearing and talking about for so long is true. Everything is fake, a lie, no pregnancy, no happy romance etc etc.
The fact ma’am just the facts. Remember Dragnet, the old police show, one office went on to be Colonel Potter on MASH but l digress. The interview technique he used was pen and paper and that was his tag line, just the facts, no opinions JUST FACTS!! THEY HAVE THE FACTS, On our humanitarian.
Every breath you take….is from a song by The Police, my fave back in the day, Sting was the sing..interesting juxtaposition of words title…THE POLICE ARE WATCHING HER 24/7/365!
Tunnel vision….if you only see one way it’s extremely unpleasant , however there is only one way this will end for her..
You can take a yacht girl…..based on old line, which in i essence means you are what you are, putting lipstick on a pig, sorry pigs, it’s still a pig, so even given the family she never had😕🤮, million and millions of bespoke Givenchy etc, she still what she is a grifter, a user, vile,.
Witness for the prosecution will be her downfall. Is the MA, JM? Who ? I expect witnesses plural!
Testis Hostili DNA DOES NOT LIE, NOT A ROYAL BABY CASE CLOSED INFINITY!!!

PG INTERPRETATION OF MM ANON
MM Anon
MM ANON,Shallow Celebrity over military duty . Beyond-ce a joke. A nations distain is bulging. An astute idiot, or needy boy? Extravagant American psycho is victimised. 🎼The circle of strife🎼 …🎼 “THEY” are the champions 🎼… A dose of EPS and salts won’t stop this sour Apple. Bel-morale will offer a reclusive distance. It’s a ROYAL knockout for a disenchanted duo.
Shallow celebrity over military duty.
Harry spent years in the military from 2000-2015 and served Operation Herrick in Afghanistan until he had to be removed quickly for the safety of the unit because someone wrote back home and out came the secret. People are wondering what happened, where did the Prince Harry go, the one that was so beloved appears to have become a shallow celebrity. Lots and lots of international sadness.
Beyond-ce a joke.
That yellow carpet appearance was pathetic, the body language from Bey and JayZ was iced! Neither posted this internet crashing, according to moi, event. A joke indeed! But not funny.
A nations distain is bulging.
Dare l say the Commonwealth is bulging was well. There is so much discontent, ever downright hate for lack of respect and the comment she made to Pharrell, ‘they make it hard’ exactly who is they? When it all comes out, exactly what has the grifter done in the past to make life hard for many many many!
An astute idiot or needy boy?
With rumours of Harry disappearing for 48 hours, along with everything else, the public is desperately trying to discern who Harry has become.
Music the circle of strife, THEY are the champions.
Circle of life, song from Lion King, Champions obviously QUEEN😁
Lots of trouble with mm his wife/strife, we had that in an earlier riddle. Is the Queen , the they she referenced, or the entire royal family and it’s system? The Firm, thank God for LG!
A does of EPS and salts won’t stop this sour Apple. Apple is referred to Americans, apple pie, big apple etc. A dose is medication, EPS in psychiatric meds, l worked in adult mental health services for 20 years so l know a wee bit about this😉. EPS are extra pyramidal side effects of some psych meds, tremor, shakiness , torticolis, etc. Is she on anti-psychotic meds?? Nothing is stopping her!
Bel-morale…. play on Balmoral, offer a reclusive distance, is this for the Queen, her family, or will mm be there to distance her??
It’s a ROYAL knockout for a disenchanted duo. Why is ROYAL all caps? Wrestling sometimes a royal rumble. Will someone need to be knocked out with medication?? Either way, this duo could not be more disenchanted. I hope the end is near. I really and truly fear for our dear Harry’s sanity.
Thank you so much! Great job!😁💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜

I-J’s Top 20 Bookmarks of 2018
I’M A BIT LATE WITH THIS, but I’ve been meaning to do this for awhile. I want to start reccing more fics that people haven’t asked for, and thought this was a good way to start that :P
After I made my Top 30 Read-Again Fics (March 2019) fic list, I thought hmm, why not just make a list of my fave fics I bookmarked in 2018? Because why not?
So here we are; it was a RIDICULOUSLY hard selection process (it was supposed to be only 10!), since everything I bookmark are amazing stories. I kept the criteria to fics I’ve only read for the very first time in 2018 and then proceeded to bookmark, so these aren’t necessarily fics that were released in 2018, just stuff I’ve read and bookmarked.
ANYWAY, without further ado, in word count order:
I-J’s TOP 20 BOOKMARKS of 2018
See also:
Top 20 Fave 40K+ w. Fics (April 2017 )

A Study in Lace by KarlyAnne (E, 2,320 w. || Est. Rel., Crafty Sherlock, Tiny Lace Panties / Lingerie, Domestics, Experiments, Oral, Masturbation) – “Why do you suppose he was doing that?” “Why do I suppose who was doing what?” “The room. The lace. The secrecy. He was playing with fire in everything he did, and didn’t care one bit. But he had a secret chamber, carefully concealed, solely for the purpose of making lace lingerie. Obviously for personal use. Why?" Part 1 of The Unintentional Crafts of Sherlock Holmes
Lingerie by Sexxica (E, 4,135 w. || Valentine’s Day, Lingerie / Women’s Underwear, Mildly Public Masturbation, Picture Texting / Sexting, Bottomlock, Body Worship, Anal Sex / Fingering, Rimming, Orgasm Delay / Denial, Est. Rel.) – It's Valentines Day and Sherlock is taking John to Angelo's for dinner. Sherlock also happens to be wearing a garter belt, stockings and a rather small pair of women's underwear under his clothes. There's no dessert at Angelo's because John needs to get Sherlock home just as quickly as he can before they both lose their minds entirely.
If He Knows by shamelessmash (M, 4,513 w. || TSo3 Fic, Pining Sherlock, Bed Sharing, Angst, Sherlock POV, Texting, Internal Monologue, Blanket Forts) – I imagine mornings: John handing me a cup of tea, hair sticking out at odd angles. How he would bend down to kiss me, smiling fondly as he pulls away. The way his skin crinkles at the corner of his eyes, the way his skin looks in the morning light. The soft sigh as he sits in his chair with the morning paper, the way his toes curl in the carpet, the way he rolls his shoulders before sinking deeper into his seat. I watch him, how he is when he is content, as it should be. As he deserves. Happy. With me.
When to Let Go by KendylGirl (M, 22,109 w. || Friends to Lovers, Reverse Reichenbach, Sacrifice, Forgiveness, Angst, Love, Implied Drug Use) – What if it were John who had to die to thwart Moriarty's plans? John's supposed death shatters Sherlock, and when he returns, it will challenge the pair to forge a path of forgiveness, to peace, and to find a way back to each other. Part 1 of When to Let Go
Another Auld Lang Syne by DiscordantWords (M, 30,234 w. || Post S4, Mutual Pining, Alternating POV, Introspection, Parentlock, Christmas, New Year’s, First Kiss, Past Drug Use, Angst with Happy Ending, Drinking, Sherlock Whump) – There had been years of missed chances.
Chaperones by MissDavis (T, 34,114 w. || 11 Years Post-S4, Fake Relationship, Parentlock, Disney World, Bed / Room Sharing, Friends to Lovers, Fluff, First Kiss, Obsessive Sherlock, Insecure John) – Right. Of course. Everyone assumed they were a couple and no one would question it. John put his elbows up on the table so he could rest his head in his hands. "You want to pretend to be a couple so we can chaperone a trip to Disney World with Rosie's class and you won't have to share a room with a stranger?" "Exactly." Sherlock beamed at him. "Don't worry about the cost. The Birmingham case last month paid more than enough to cover expenses for all three of us."
Nothing to Make a Song About by emmagrant01 (E, 36,833 w. || Post-TRF, First Time, Reunion, Jealous John, Pining Sherlock, Romance, Angst with Happy Ending, Sherlock Has a Boyfriend) – When Sherlock returned from his faked death, John could not forgive him for the deception and broke off their friendship. Ten years later, John returns to London in search of yet another new beginning. Sherlock, not surprisingly, is waiting.
The Unfinished Letters by SilentAuror (E, 37,391 w. || Post S3 / S3 / HLV Fix it, Angst with Happy Ending, Romance, Infidelity, Depression, Case Fic, POV Third Person Sherlock, Love Confessions, Pining Sherlock, Letters) – A fire at Baker Street leads John to read something he was never intended to see: a notebook of half-written, unfinished letters Sherlock wrote during his time away...
Set in Stone by SilentAuror (E, 39,309 w. || Romance, Wedding, Therapy, Fluff and Angst) – Sherlock and John are back from Ravine Valley and planning their wedding. However, as they move past the trial of the human traffickers, Sherlock can't help but wonder if he's imagining that John is becoming a little distant. Surely he isn't getting cold feet about the wedding... Part 2 of The Ravine Valley series
In the Still of the Night by SilentAuror (E, 42,234 w. || S4 Fix It / Post-S4, Sherlock POV, Angst, Drama, Romance, Virgin Sherlock, Awkwardness, Misunderstandings / Miscommunications, Case Fic, Travelling, Pining) – As locals on the Northeastern coast begin to report UFO sightings, life at Baker Street becomes significantly awkward as John brings up his desire for more than friendship and Sherlock refuses him. They embark on the investigation from the confines of the tiny cottage Mycroft has rented for them, attempting to navigate both the clues of the case as well as their own inability to communicate...
Bloody But Unbowed by BeautifulFiction (E, 43,211 w. || Abduction, John Whump, Mild Torture, Background Case Fic, Friends to Lovers, Post-TRF / S3 Rewrite, Hurt/Comfort) – When a familiar argument threatens to destroy the last remnants of John and Sherlock's failing friendship, both men are left questioning their worth to one another. Before either of them has the chance to make amends, circumstance intervenes. John is left at the mercy of his abductors, and this time, he's not sure Sherlock will bother coming to his rescue.
floating through a dark blue sky by Lediona (M, 58,966 w. || Notting Hilll AU || POV John, Celebrity Sherlock, First Date / Time / Kiss, Past Drug Addiction, Angst with a Happy Ending) – Of course, I’d seen his films and always thought he was, well, brilliant -- but, you know, a million miles from the world I live in. Or, when John is the owner of a travel book shop and the famous Sherlock Holmes stops in one day.
The Book of Silence by SilentAuror (E, 60,056 w. || S4 Fix It / Post S4, Virgin Sherlock, Rosie / Parentlock, Domesticity, Fluff, Praise Kink, Sex Toys, First Person POV) – As spring blooms in London, John and Sherlock begin to take new cases and cautiously negotiate this new phase of life with John living at Baker Street again. Despite how well it's all going, John struggles to forgive himself for the way he treated Sherlock following Mary’s death as well as trying to figure out how to finally put his long-time feelings for Sherlock into words. Part 1 of The Book of Silence/Rosa Felicia
Summit Fever by J_Baillier (M, 78,802 w. || Mountain Climber AU || POV John, Angst, Tragedy, Suicidal Ideation, The Himalayas, Mountain Guide / Doctor John, Mount Climber Sherlock, Loneliness, Drama, Suspense, Slow Burn, Injured Sherlock / Sherlock Whump, Pining John) – After graduating from medical school, John Watson followed his heart to the Himalayas. Ten years later, he's a haunted cynic working for his ex-lover's trekking and mountaineering company. Will leading an expedition to Annapurna I—the most lethal of all the world's highest mountains—shake John out of his reverie, and who is the mystery client added to the group at the last minute?
Uphill by scullyseviltwin (E, 84,945 w. || Olympics AU || Sherlock POV, Skier!Sherlock / Medic!John, Rivalry, 2014 Olympics, Happy Ending) – Sherlock Holmes is striving for gold in this, his fourth and final Olympics as a downhill Alpine racer.

He’s completely shut down, until Mark Morstan, a new nurse at John’s medical clinic, catches his attention, and helps him uncover the long buried truth of his attraction to men. Although he’s certain he’ll never get over Sherlock, John plans to move on, and build a new life with Mark, unaware that Sherlock is not quite as dead as he appears, and that Mark is hiding secrets of his own.
The Horse and his Doctor by khorazir (T, 129,003 w. || Horse / Vet AU || Magical Realism, Horses, Vet John, Horse Sherlock, Implied Alcoholism) – Invalided after a run in with a poacher in Siberia, veterinary surgeon John Watson finds it difficult to acclimatise to the mundanity of London life. Things change when a friend invites him along to a local animal shelter and he meets their latest acquisition, a trouble-making Frisian with the strangest eyes and even stranger quirks John has ever encountered in a horse.
Gimme Shelter by SinceWhenDoYouCallMe_John (E, 159,368 w. || 70′s Surfer AU || Period Typical Homophobia, Hawaii, Enemies to Friends to Lovers, Professional Surfers, Gay John / Sherlock, Angst with Happy Ending, John was a Sailor, Misunderstandings) – All John Watson wants is the feeling of a freshly waxed surfboard under his feet and the hot California sun baking down onto his back. To finally go pro in the newly formed world of professional surfing and leave the dark memories of his past behind him as he rips across the face of a towering blue barrel. To lounge beside the beach bonfire every evening with an ice cold beer tucked into the cool sand beside him and listen to Pink Floyd and the Doors while the saltwater dries in his sun bleached hair. That's all he wants, that is, until the hot young phenom taking Oahu and the Hawaiian shores by storm steps up next to him in the sand in the second round of the 1976 International Surf Competition.

Book Review
Tumblr media
Book of the Dead by Patricia Cornwell My rating: ★☆☆☆☆ This book is just horrid. Once again there are too many plot holes and it's entirely too contrived. In my previous review of The Last Precinct I said that I hoped the writing would improve; it has not. It's gotten so incredibly bad -- especially the dialogue -- that it's really difficult to follow. The main characters have devolved so much that they're not the same people anymore. There's no way that the Pete Marino from the early books would even contemplate what the Pete Marino of this book did. In the past 30 years why hasn't anyone told Patricia Cornwell that the phrase let's don't is wrong? It's either let's not or don't let's. I'm really sick of reading let's don't over and over, and in every single one of her books. I have only heard a few people in real life say let's not and that was literally only in the phrase let's not and say we did. I have never heard anyone say don't let's, and obviously never heard let's don't. Cornwell writes as if this phrase is so common that everyone says it constantly, not just one person as part of a character trait. And how bad are her editors that they keep allowing this incorrect phrase into her books again and again? Clearly pretty bad to allow this atrocious book to go to print as is. Another thing that annoyed me personally, as a tennis fan, was not mentioning Roland Garros [a.k.a. the French Open]. The tournament the victim was supposed to have won is in early spring; the Italian Open, another mentioned tournament, is in mid spring. Roland Garros is the next major [a.k.a. Grand Slam], played a couple of weeks later. More than once Wimbledon was listed as a big upcoming tournament, but it's not played until after Roland Garros. It doesn't make sense to me that Cornwell would research tennis enough to write about it, then ignore one of the four major tournaments of the year. Or perhaps her research person failed her on this subject. Either way, it took me out of the book because it was unrealistic to my pedantic self. Dark Days for English Football
Tumblr media
The last few days have finally brought an end to the long drawn out saga of Bury FC and Bolton Wanderers FC, one ending in adversity and the other ending in last minute relief.
While it was announced on Wednesday that Bolton Wanderers has finally been sold to Football Ventures, the bid to takeover Bury FC collapsed just hours before the final deadline set by the EFL. The announcement was made late on Tuesday night that Bury FC would be expelled from the league, but was this really necessary? While deadlines must be set, and adhered to, was expelling them the only option?
Expelling a club from the football league benefits no-one. There is no benefit to the league, to the players and especially to the fans. Established in 1885, Bury were one of the founder members of the football league. As a club they have a 134 year history, with 2 FA Cup wins and numerous promotions and relegations over the years. A decision on their future obviously had to be made at some stage, the EFL couldn’t keep suspending matches indefinitely, but did this need to be expulsion? Would it not have been possible to automatically relegate them to League 2 from the start of next season with all this seasons league and cup games being cancelled with immediate effect? They had not played any games so there would have been no points, or goal difference, to remove from other clubs stats. The season will now be played with 23 teams. This is no different to if they had been given automatic relegation for the end of the 2019/20 season. It would also have removed any pressure on trying to get a takeover completed to meet urgent impending deadlines. Efforts to complete a sale could still continue on the understanding that, if a deal had not been completed by the last game of the season then the relegation would be elevated to expulsion.
If a takeover is completed after the relegation, then the club would have the remainder of the season to rebuild, maybe playing friendly matches against teams that they were already pencilled in to play or even arranging matches against U23 sides of bigger local clubs (Liverpool, Everton, both Manchester clubs etc) or even smaller local sides (FC United, Atherton Collieries, Chorley FC). While the gate receipts wouldn’t be high, if other clubs allowed them to keep the majority of the receipts, this would at least allow them to generate enough income to pay any players they still have remaining and to prepare themselves ready for next season. It would also help to avoid the loss of jobs, not just for the players but for the ground staff. The fans turning up at the ground yesterday voluntarily to clean the stadium shows there is a strong community spirit and rather than having to start as a phoenix club, à la Chester and FC Wimbledon, they would be able to continue as the same club that was first established in 1885.
There is a huge gulf in wages between the Premier league and the EFL. Only 9 miles down the road from Bury are Manchester Utd. They were paying Alexis Sanchez an annual salary of £21m. This is 3 times the amount that would have been required to save Bury from extinction. Even after his loan transfer to Inter Milan they are still paying close to £4.5m of his annual salary and he won’t even kick a ball for them.
The likes of Sky Sports and BT Sports are pumping billions into the Premier League but very little of that is trickling down into the lower leagues, the same lower league that bring young players through their academies so that the likes of Liverpool and Everton etc can then buy them for a small fee (compared to buying from bigger clubs). These are the clubs that give them their first chances in football. Would Jamie Vardy have been such a big success at Leicester City without first plying his trade at Fleetwood Town? The more money given to the Premiership by TV, the more wages expected by the players.
Things need to change to protect English footballs grass roots. A good start would be for the EFL to rescind their decision to expel Bury FC from the Football League. While all the blame for Bury’s (and Bolton’s) predicament cannot be placed on any one person, each party must accept their share of the blame. The plight of the clubs may have been caused by mismanagement from the owners but the EFL must accept their share of the blame for allowing the clubs to be sold to these owners in the first place. Ken Anderson had previous history with failing businesses, including Southampton FC, and was actually banned in October 2005 from holding directorship of a company until 2013. As for Bury owner Steve Dale, a worrying 43 of the 51 companies Dale has been associated with have been liquidated. The EFL had a responsibility to do their due diligence before allowing clubs to change ownership. Its boss Debbie Jevans has promised to launch an investigation into what happened. An investigation into what happened will not help Bury, rescinding the expulsion and lowering it to relegation might. What harm can it cause?
There has been talk of another prospective buyer already having the required £7m available to transfer over and Steve Dale also confirmed to Sky Sports News he has two buyers who still want to purchase the club (if he is to be believed). Come on EFL, do the right thing and give Bury FC and the local community the opportunity to enjoy many more years of ups and downs knowing that, at the end of each season, the club will still exist.

U.F.C. 264: What to Watch as Conor McGregor Fights Dustin Poirier
Youlikebet Cries of “Vai!” (Go!), “Forza!” (Let’s go!) and even “Andiamo, amore mio!” (Let’s go, my love!) rang through the All England Club’s main stadium earlier, supporting Berrettini in his native tongue on his way to becoming Italy’s first Grand Slam male finalist in 45 years. With booming serves delivering 22 aces, and powerful forehands helping compile a total of 60 winners, Berrettini used an 11-game run to grab a big lead and held on to beat No. 14 Hubert Hurkacz 6-3, 6-0, 6-7 (3), 6-4. Djokovic is trying to collect a sixth championship at Wimbledon — and third straight — to go along with nine from the Australian Open, three from the U.S. Open and two from the French Open. And then there’s this: After collecting trophies on the hard courts of Melbourne Park in February, and the red clay of Roland Garros in June — defeating Berrettini in the quarterfinals there — Djokovic seeks a triumph on the grass of the All England Club to get three-quarters of the way to a calendar-year Grand Slam, with only the U.S. Open remaining. No man has pulled off that three-title stretch within one year — let alone all four — since Rod Laver won the Grand Slam in 1969. This will be Djokovic’s 30th major final, Berrettini’s first. Much as it was Djokovic’s 41st major semifinal, Shapovalov’s first. “Obviously, the job is not done yet,” said the 25-year-old Berrettini, who lost his only previous Slam semifinal, at the 2019 U.S. Open. “I want to get the trophy now that I’m here.”

Back in Wimbledon final, Djokovic to face Italy's Berrettini
WIMBLEDON, England (AP) — The victories keep adding up for Novak Djokovic: 20 in a row at Wimbledon since the start of the 2018 tournament, 20 in a row in all Grand Slam matches since the start of this season.Get both streaks up to 21 on Sunday by beating Matteo Berrettini in the final at the All England Club, and Djokovic will tie rivals Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal with a 20th major championship, the most for a man in tennis history. เกมยิงปลาออนไลน์ “It would mean everything,” the No. 1-ranked Djokovic said. “That’s why I’m here. That’s why I’m playing.”He worked his way in and out of trouble against a much younger, much-less-experienced opponent Friday until eliminating No. 10 Denis Shapovalov 7-6 (3), 7-5, 7-5 in the semifinals at Centre Court. Each set was tight and intense. Each appeared to be within Shapovalov’s grasp — until it was in Djokovic’s.“He was serving for first set. He was better for most of the second set; had a lot of opportunities and just didn’t manage to close it out when he needed to,” said Djokovic, who at 34 is 12 years older than Shapovalov. “In important moments, I think I probably held my nerves better than he did and just (made) him play an extra shot, (made) him do an unforced error.”Djokovic made just 15 unforced errors, Shapovalov 36. The other key stats: Djokovic saved 5 of 5 break points in the second set, then 3 of 3 in the third.“What hurt so much this time was just that I felt like the game is there and it’s possible to go and play for the trophy,” said Shapovalov, who walked off in tears after falling to 0-7 against Djokovic. “It’s a feeling I’ve never had before, so that’s why it just hurt so much. I felt like I was outplaying Novak in parts of the match. If you’re outplaying Novak, you can beat anyone.”So true. Now another new-to-these-stages foe, No. 7 seed Berrettini, will give it a shot.Cries of “Vai!” (Go!), “Forza!” (Let’s go!) and even “Andiamo, amore mio!” (Let’s go, my love!) rang through the All England Club’s main stadium earlier, supporting Berrettini in his native tongue on his way to becoming Italy’s first Grand Slam male finalist in 45 years. With booming serves delivering 22 aces, and powerful forehands helping compile a total of 60 winners, Berrettini used an 11-game run to grab a big lead and held on to beat No. 14 Hubert Hurkacz 6-3, 6-0, 6-7 (3), 6-4.Djokovic is trying to collect a sixth championship at Wimbledon — and third straight — to go along with nine from the Australian Open, three from the U.S. No man has pulled off that three-title stretch within one year — let alone all four — since Rod Laver won the Grand Slam in 1969.This will be Djokovic’s 30th major final, Berrettini's first. Probably zero.”When he got broken for the first time, the 24-year-old from Poland sat for the ensuing changeover and, between bites of a banana, motioned to his American coach, Craig Boynton, to adjust the seating arrangements in their guest box. As if that were the issue.

Novak Djokovic vs. Denis Shapovalov live score, updates, highlights from 2021 Wimbledon semifinals
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It won’t be easy. Even Denis Shapovalov knows it.
“Well, obviously he’s the best player in the world but, you know, I think,” the Canadian said before pausing and flashing another smile as the crowd got behind him after his five-set quarterfinal win. “Anything is possible and when you look at the scoreboard first thing on, whatever it is, Friday it’s going to be 0-0. So that’s it. Nothing else matters. It’s a tennis match and it could go either way … I think anything is possible.”
Indeed.
Facing Novak Djokovic, the world No. 1 aiming for Grand Slam title No. 20, is never easy. Especially when Djokovic is halfway to a Grand Slam after titles at the Australian and French Opens and could even snag a Golden Slam with a gold medal in a few weeks. And not when the guy has, “officially,” six wins against you to your none and you’ve only won two sets in those matches.

But here’s the thing, this isn’t the same Shapovalov.
The Richmond Hill, Ont., native has shown maturity and growth this season, especially at the All England Club. He even noted it after beating Karen Khachanov in the quarters by drawing on what he learned from a five-set heartbreak at the 2020 US Open. Showcasing a more all-around game, a calmer game, the lefty has put aside any questions that he has arrived. And, to boot, he’s beaten a legend — and the crowd — already this tournament, having sent hometown hero Andy Murray packing in the third round.
Plus, he can draw on one more thing.
As mentioned he is “officially” facing a 0-6 record against Djokovic. But it’s not really the whole story. Why? Because the duo has had one more meeting that didn’t count on the ATP Tour. They faced off at an exhibition Wimbledon tune-up called The Boodles back in 2019. The final score was 7-6(3), 6-4. The winner? Denis Shapovalov.

Roger Federer's 2020 was really unprofitable. The 39-year-old Swiss champion underwent two operations on his right knee and remained stationary for the entire year. The only official tournament in which he participated is the Australian Open in January, when he stopped in the semifinals in the presence of Novak Djokovic, while the last time he was seen on the field dates back to the performance in Cape Town against Rafa Nadal on February 7th. The years on the circuit begin to be many, and after yesterday evening the specter of his retirement from professional tennis begins to take shape. During last night's Swiss Sports Awards ceremony in Zurich, Federer was awarded as the best sportsman of the last 70 years of Swiss history together with skier Vreni Schneider; the winner of 20 Grand Slam tournaments spoke to the public about his sporting future and how he is not yet sure of being able to take the field at the next Australian Open. Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer spoke to the ATP this week about their “thrilling” long-standing rivalry, after half a century of matches on the tour.
Federer on Novak Djokovic
“I’ve played so many thrilling matches with Roger Federer over the years,” Novak Djokovic said. “Every time I step on court against him it’s thrilling, it’s very exciting because it kind of exceeds that match. It goes beyond the sport. Novak, obviously he can play on all the surfaces extremely well,” Federer said. “He always brings a certain level of play, which is extremely high, so to beat him you have to be at your best. He’s a great mover, and I have great coordination, so we match up well against each other.” Referring to their epic 2019 Wimbledon final, which the Serb won 7-6(5), 1-6, 7-6(4), 4-6, 13-12(3), Djokovic said, “It would probably be [in the] top two, top three matches I’ve ever played, this final against Roger. Probably the best, most exciting, and most demanding – both physically and mentally and in every aspect – matches that I ever played.” With Djokovic leading the rivalry 27-23, and with both players still ranked inside the world’s top five players, 2021 promises to feature more exciting matches between the legendary pair. “I think actually rivalries are super important in sports, I think it also makes the game more popular,” Federer said. “I think you always need somebody who you can have a good rivalry with. With me… and with Djokovic, thank god I had them… I think we get the best out of one another.” Despite losing the 2019 Wimbledon final, Federer acknowledged, “You do look back and you do appreciate the fight and the battle and the type of match.”

Jamie Murray on the French Open, British struggles & Andy Murray’s future
Tumblr media
In his latest BBC Sport column, Jamie Murray talks about his hopes of landing a first French Open title, how Britain isn’t developing enough top singles players and why Mats Wilander was wrong about his younger brother Andy.
While I have managed to win seven Grand Slam titles in men’s doubles and mixed doubles, none of them have been at the French Open.
Winning the title here at Roland Garros, and at Wimbledon, are my two biggest goals until the end of my career.
I’m 34 now so I need to give it everything I can in the few opportunities that I have left!
This is the first time that I’ve played with Neal Skupski at Roland Garros because we started our partnership after last year’s tournament here.
We’ve not played a lot together on clay but I’m confident we can play well on this surface and get some good results.
Of course, it is a bit different to the other surfaces and you have to work harder for your points.
Neal plays really well from the baseline and it helps that we have two different styles on the court. Therefore we have different ways to win our points.
Before the French Open we lost in the first rounds at Rome and Hamburg, although we should never have lost in Hamburg where we were 6-0 3-1 ahead.
But here, in our opening match against Juan Ignacio Londero and Jiri Vesely, we played a good match overall.
Tumblr media
Murray and Skupski, whose best Grand Slam performance together was a run to the US Open semi-finals in 2019, won 6-4 4-6 7-5 against Londero and Jiri Vesely
Perhaps we could have done better in the second set and take more of the opportunities that we did a good job creating, but it is not easy in these conditions when it is slow and the ball is very heavy.
A lot of returns are being made and we had to grind for our points.
Our court was one of the two or three that didn’t have floodlights so we had to stop at the end of the second set because it was so dark.
The organiser had to decide whether we would finish when a court came available or finish the next day.
We spent about an hour off court, mostly at the referee’s office to see what was happening, but after a quick shower and change we got back out there.
Thankfully we were able to finish it on the day. We did well when we came back on, had good energy and a good idea how we wanted to play.
‘Britain should be bringing more players through to the top’
It was a tough set of results for the British players in the singles at Roland Garros, with all six of them losing in the first round.
But there were some tough draws there and the tournament has come on the back of an unusual season and been played at an unusual time of the year.
Suddenly we’re playing on clay in September and October with very limited preparation time.
I think it is just one of those things. It is not like we come to French Open, or any Grand Slam, every year and all the Brits are going into the second week. That’s rarely the case.
Most of the time it has been Andy or no-one really. I don’t feel like it is something out of the ordinary and something that needs to be made a big deal of compared to other efforts in Grand Slams.
Possibly the criticism of LTA has been fair in terms of their ability to bring players through to the top of the game.
They have got a nice cheque from Wimbledon for many, many years but so far have been unable to bring a decent number through to the top of the professional ranks.
You’re not even talking top 10 or top 100 in the singles. You’re talking top 500.
We should be doing a much better job of bringing players through to that level with the finances we have available.
‘Andy has a lot more to give’
Andy was one of the British players who lost in the French Open and afterwards former Grand Slam champion Mats Wilander questioned his future.external-link
I didn’t agree with his comments.
Andy is doing his very best to get back to the level he wants to play to and knows he can play at.
Obviously this year was difficult for him because just when he was about to start playing tournaments in the States in March the whole season got cut. So it has been very bitty for him.
He has got a few more tournaments to try and finish the year strong and get ready for the Australian Open in January.
I certainly think he has got a lot more to give. He showed that in some of the matches in the States and also when he won the European Open title in Antwerp last year.
I really believe he can get back to playing at a really high level and competing against the best players in the world.
