eddie and buck standing in the kitchen after eddie comes back—eddie's kitchen which was buck's kitchen and is now for this dreamlike moment of time buck-and-eddie's kitchen—and it's late. they've been unpacking all day and chris is asleep in his room, everyone finally where they belong, and eddie's like. hey, what're you thinking abt, bc buck can't seem to look at him and also can't seem to look away. and buck's like. oh. um. its. hah. really stupid. just. we kind of forgot to hug? but it's not—it's whatever. and eddie who has been thinking abt the exact same thing since buck gave chris a big teary bear-hug on the doorstep and then—didn't touch eddie, is like oh. well. we could do it now. you know, like a belated hello. if you want. and buck stares at him for a moment. and says, hey eddie. and eddie says, hey. and they step in close. and it's just a hug but it feels tentative. important. when buck wraps his arms around him and tucks his face into his neck, eddie can feel both their hearts racing, way too fast for what's happening. and neither of them has anywhere else to be, maybe ever again, so they hold each other tightly in the kitchen for a very very very long time.

bUT onto less mushy stuff: these two being shenaniganizers; tomfools. Bruce realized that Danny didn't actually know he was Bruce Wayne and instead of going "oh actually im bruce wayne" he went; "hrm... how long can i keep this going until he realizes...."

like. i think they deserve to be the sillies. just utter goobers the both of them. like, danny makes the wittiest side comments, dry quips, under his breath towards Bruce while they're out in public (Danny covering his face with a face mask) and Bruce is trying not to laugh. Meanwhile if Bruce makes one sly comment about someone to Danny, Danny's gonna collapse with laughter.

Bruce plays straightman in most of their bits, he has the best fucking poker face. But also I firmly believe he does actually enjoy Danny's puns. Look me in the eyes- look me in the eyes. Try and tell me that a man that willingly agrees to call a car "the batmobile" even after his eight year old ward grows up (thus negating the need to go along with his antics) doesn't enjoy a good, well-placed pun. Look me in the eyes and try to tell me that. That's right you can't.

He's gonna spit out a well-placed pun in the driest, most boring Batman Voice Ever one day while he's getting ready for patrol, and Danny's gonna fucking die of laughter. He's gonna lose his mind. Bruce is going to have a half-dead sickly teenager laughing his lungs out in the chair. That's a new core memory right there, every time Danny thinks about that he's gonna start giggling.

Why is Hera so hostile to Leto in a manner that she isn't with the other lovers of Zeus? I can't think of any other woman who was targeted so much by Hera. One could say she didn't want Leto to give birth because her children would be a competition to Hera's children, but why bother her even after she had already given birth? Is it because Leto herself is also a threat to Hera?

I don't think Leto would ever be a threat to Hera's role as the queen of the gods but Hera might see her as a competitor for Zeus' affection, even though I think Zeus would not marry someone else and replace Hera.

The twins are definitely a big reason why Hera begrudged Leto - it is outright stated in the Callimachus Hymn to Delos that the reason Hera especially targeted Leto was because she was told that Apollo would be dearer to Zeus than Ares is. Zeus is very proud of Artemis as well. As he himself puts it, he doesn't mind facing Hera's wrath for children like her.

But the continued hatred even after the birth of the twins (like sending Tityus to rape Leto) could have been for different reasons. This wasn't like one of those affairs Zeus would have with mortal women where he'd leave them behind once the child is conceived. Neither could Hera, despite her many attempts, get rid of Leto like she did with the other lovers. Not only did Leto give Zeus children that he loves dearly, she also stayed on Olympus despite Hera's hatred towards her (which isn't directed to any of Zeus' other divine mistresses, btw). It might have also been because Leto herself is dear to Zeus, if the way she's treated on Olympus is any proof. In the Homeric hymn to Apollo, Leto stands next to Zeus - in the Olympian assembly - to welcome their son. Hera is completely absent from the scene, as if Leto had taken her place even if temporarily. Now you could say this is because Apollo himself is such a powerful and glorious son in a way that no other son of Zeus is, so of course Leto would get such an honor (the hymn itself presents it this way).

But here's another instance - in the Iliad, when Hera goes to seduce Zeus, he is obviously very smitten but before getting into the action, he lists some of his lovers (I believe these were his favorite lovers, as a lot of others are not mentioned):

"for never has such desire for goddess or mortal woman so gripped and overwhelmed my heart, not even when I was seized by love for Ixion’s wife, who gave birth to Peirithous the gods’ rival in wisdom; or for Acrisius’ daughter, slim-ankled Danaë, who bore Perseus, greatest of warriors; or for the far-famed daughter of Phoenix, who gave me Minos and godlike Rhadamanthus; or for Semele mother of Dionysus, who brings men joy; or for Alcmene at Thebes, whose son was lion-hearted Heracles; or for Demeter of the lovely tresses; or for glorious Leto; or even for you yourself, as this love and sweet desire for you grips me now.’ (Book 14, trans. A. T. Murray)

Notice how when talking about most of them, he also mentions the children they bore to him but when Demeter and Leto are mentioned, he doesn't bring up their children at all despite them being some of the most accomplished kids of his. What's more, he takes Leto's name just before Hera's. I mean, this is an interpretation but it looks like not only did Zeus love Leto the most out of all his mistresses - giving her a place second to that of his wife, but also his love for her wasn't necessarily only because she gave him two amazing children.

Nonnus does something similar in the Dionysiaca (but this time Zeus is enamored with Persephone instead of Hera) but more notably, when Typhoeus attacks Olympus and Zeus is discouraged, Nike takes the form of Leto to encourage him and it's pretty telling of what Leto meant to Zeus.

One interesting similarity between Hera and Leto is that they both had a giant try to rape them. Porphyrion tried to violate Hera (Zeus inspired him to do this) and Tityus tried to violate Leto (upon Hera's order). Though both of them were killed, only Tityus got an eternal punishment in Tartarus of having his liver/heart eaten out by vultures so Zeus seems to have taken a greater offense at Tityus trying to assault Leto.

Again, I don't think Zeus would ever take anyone other than Hera as his permanent wife - she is irreplaceable to him. There's an entire myth about Hera leaving him and Zeus winning her back. Their relationship is obviously complex and involves all kinds of emotions including love and hate. But Leto is continually dear to him as well and that's something Hera can't do much about.

just for fun this time during 'sea of blood' I counted out all the venatori corpses I think we can be pretty sure were lucanis' handiwork before we show up (not including the ones he kills in his initial cutscene, and with an assumption that he's been at work mainly up and down in the areas we move through until we find him, not behind the locked door -- I think that's mostly the work of rampaging undead and other venatori-hoisted-by-their-own-petard suchlikes). can thus happily inform you lucanis has killed at least 32 venatori before rook and company get there. at least one of them he's impaled on their own weird crystal spike things the venatori mages cast as an AOE attack and that they're trying to keep him contained with when we find him. so he's clearly been keeping busy lol. that's my boy dispensing poetic justice and claiming some enrichment in his enclosure while he's at it good for him!

Trying to figure out colors/clothes for siffrin and loop in the mobian... Au? thing. Idk what to call it. I don't like the colors but everything else is kinda alright and I am a firm believer of never deleting the ugly stuff so!!!!!! Here we are. Do judge my colors! I need help.

Loop's looks... Alright- Maybe I should get on another color pallete but I can only go warm-cold with them. Not for how I feel but just to keep the entire star motif and me going that they're* either something like the sun or a dead star (I forgot how its called)

But siffrin is a lost cause in the color department. Maybe I should get onto more warmer colors for the clothes and keep the cold ones for his fur/skin? Idk! I'll let it simmer (is this a word? Feels like it is) in my brain a bit since I am 100% going back to bed after this kMDLKSM

Something something mobians usually don't wear clothes (up to what I know about sonic in general)- SPECIALLY on this amount but I still think Siffrin wouldn't feel as comfortable if they weren't more as covered. Also maybe- MAYBE! it will change but I like the idea of Siffrin being an albino. Well, albino fossa to be more specific, but albino nonetheless. There would be no way of knowing such a thing in ISAT but putting them in a more colorfull world gives me the chance to do that

Believe I've already shared the initial designs for King but I'd get his colors to be more cold so it fits how... Much of a sad figure he is in my brain. Maybe on a replay of the game I'd think better about the colors but I don't think I can read more- Anywayy..

Last thing!!! I've been thinking of Isabeau being a bear (Asian black bear, to be specific) but that feels both spot on and just... Lazy? I don't know. No other animal fits him well but! I want to make them all creatures that can come from the same place and consider the places they come from at the same time so I ammm giving myself a bit of a hard task here. Maybe. Not that much. We don't know exactly where Jouvente is- Bambouche (is this how it is written?) is said to be on the coast so Bonbon and Petronille is gonna be easier to pick an animal.......

I had a shrink appointment today and while I could not see it I knew my doc was going through the five stages of grief while I explained my fool proof strategy for doing my t shots despite a crippling fear of needles: By abusing my vastly more crippling fear of being an inconvenience.

My mother and I play phasmophobia together every week. she usually has a pretty limited time to do this bc she's like. a doctor and a college professor whos always busy. So I asked her to just. hold me to doing them. We don't start playing until the shot is done. so my needle fear doesn't matter because now it's Wasting™ her time and I have to do it quick. Using one neurosis to defeat another.

It's a horrible coping mechanism because it's feeding the inconvenience fear, but it is definitionally a coping mechanism.
