This is what Riverdale should have been the whole time. Season 1 was a very competent whodunnit murder mystery and then from season 2 onward it just kept getting more and more ridiculous. And the thing that makes it most ridiculous though - they always lean a little bit into how “oh it’s demons, oh it’s flying babies, oh it’s magical cults, everyone’s disappearing” but then they always explain it away like “well actually it was all just jingle jangle and it was the special paint they were using in the school and he didn’t come back from the dead, it’s actually his secret cousin’s twin who we just found out about who looks exactly like him”. With this miniseries, it’s like "La Llorona shows up, yeah the devil shows up, yeah ghosts are real, Sabrina’s real, magic’s real" it was actually like almost more believable because in a world today where everything’s superheroes and vampires and werewolves I kind of wish Riverdale was just that. The fact that they’ve been trying to keep everything realistic just makes it more ridiculous. Like I kind of wish it was just like “yeah demons are real dude” it makes it so much more easy to digest.

Hiii! What did you think about the episode? I’m still reeling from the Buddie and Bathena and Madney and the firefam being together and the focus again. It was exactly what I wanted.

I loved 6x01! I didn't had much time with the episode bc honestly I watched it at 5am before work reblogged a whole bunch of stuff while I had some time and then just went on to be adult with a demanding job so I will need to rewatch of course. But I really was happy with we got! You know how usually they open up a season with some big disaster and we have to wait till we get somewhere with characters? It looks like they switched things up this time and focused on setting up the characters and what we can expect from s6 first and disasters later. I am sure next two episodes will still deliver some action bc that is a winning formula that worked so far,but I really loved that for now that blimp thing was not a major one-just a usual call. Again for now obviously bc I am sure they are doing the same they did with animals call in 501-503 and we will get back to blimp soon probably.I skipped most of the spoilers and speculations for the season so I don't actually know.

Anyways what was great imo is that right away they gave us madney back - I was sure writers will drag it out for first half of the season but nope here they are back together in 601! Obviously I loved everything about Buckley Diaz family scene and how domestic it was,how many layers and obvious metaphors it had and what this scene is telling us and that is 'buddie is coming get ready'. Bathena were great as well and Bobby reminded me of my own dad who plans every second of a vacation lol. Also I loved that Michael and David got mentioned and apparently Harry lives with them? I wonder if they have written him out of the show. I am also excited for Athena and Bobby going to Florida and doing some detective work bc that spoiler I did read lol. Hen becoming a Captain while Bobby is gone was awesome too and well deserved.

In general? Excellent start for what is def going to be a very interesting season! We all have high expectations and hopes for canon buddie of course but I am actually curious what they will do with the rest of the characters bc writers tied up all the lose ends from previous seasons and it feels like a fresh start for pretty much all of them.

Reek made him kill those boys, not him Reek but the other one. "I am no kinslayer," he insisted. He told her how he bedded down with Ramsay's bitches, warned her that Winterfell was full of ghosts. "The swords were gone. Four, I think, or five. I don't recall. The stone kings are angry." He was shaking by then, trembling like an autumn leaf. "The heart tree knew my name. The old gods. tldr: y*ara greyjoy is some kind of fantasy power trip of the typical PIRATE WARRIOR GIRL WHO HAS TO BE A LESBIAN, NEEDS NO MAN AND HATES EVERYTHING FEMININE AND HAS NO FEELINGS (at least past S3) and is a complete fucking asshole who treats her brother like dirt 90% of the time whether she wants to or not (and I could say a lot about that brothel scene because lol that scene managed to not be 100% cringy because of the acting but the rest? god it was so uncomfortable to watch I wanted to vomit) and who apparently can’t be in touch with her feelings because god forbid women who aren’t *feminine* are in touch with their feelings and not assholes, asha greyjoy is an actually well-written character who is not a walking stereotype, who does not treat her brother like dirt or calls people insults which are incidentally demeaning women, and incidentally people being theon, who has absolutely not being insulted and likened to a woman by both his father and ramsay in the books but not by his sister, who, by the way, at some point went like

“Cunt again? It was odd how men like Suggs used that word to demean women when it was the only part of a woman they valued.”

and she’s also not some kind of fantasy power trip made by someone (idk which d but I suppose weiss since benioff is better at things outside GOT) who thinks that in order to write a Strong Woman TM who defies gender roles then you have to write her as victarion greyjoy.

actually, y*ara is basically male victarion except less terrible, and asha is *asha*, not victarion. and the next time I hear that ‘she was the only one who ever cared about theon’ bc apparently they want us all to buy that angle when robb existed and the show forgot I’m gonna punch a wall.
