HC: Being the youngest member of The Gang
Tumblr media
They are all protective, to an extent.
Considering how young you are, at least younger than any of them, they always prefer you not joining on their more dangerous missions.
Always covering for you when J.R questions why you are not present on the dangerous missions often.
"Hey, where the Hell is (Y/n)??"
"Oh, they didn't feel well-"
"Had to use the bathroom-" Ect.
But sometimes Myc will rat you out.
Intentionally or unintentionally, he's still a total asshole about it but that's just how he is.
He's also the one to tease and talk shit to you, mostly in a playful way, but eventually he will inevitably go too far without meaing to.
If you react all upset and maybe close to tears; Myc will feel like total shit. Like really bad.
He won't say sorry at all, that's not his thing, but he will do something nice for you like doing some of your work or buying you something nice.
But if you react by anger and retaliation, that will escalate your situation. You are mad and therefore it will make him mad.
The only way the situation will be resolved is when HR and Mr. Mothman intervenes.
Like parents making their kids apologize to each other after fighting who gets a turn on the Xbox.
Brett, Gigi, and Andre would absolutely give big sibling vibes 💯
Brett would happily spend quality time with you like having family breakfast, lunch, and dinners together. Having movie nights, playing board games, and sleepovers.
Gigi would take you out on shopping sprees and gossiping with you about anyone, getting manicures and hairs done.
Andre would be the one you can chill with and just exist in the same space with. Unless you wanna party, than he will gladly take you out to a rave, even share some of his stash if-you-know-what-i-mean. But if the hard stuff is too much, than he'll let you have 🍃 instead.
If you were to spend time with all three of them at once?? Whoo! Chaotic hijinks ensures.
Andre would be an absolute menace and try to drag you in crazy situations, while Brett tries to stop you guys and freaks out as Gigi records the whole situation.
Reagan would be... initially uncertain about you. Maybe even suspicious.
You can't blame her, in her work you could've been some sort of sleeper agent or something.
But she would warm up to you and would maybe even try to help you with anything you struggle with. Whether it would be paperwork, a mission, anything work related. Anything else that is more personal? She'd fumble and be super awkward about it and would stear you to literally anyone else with help for personal stuff.
Glenn would almost be fatherly, in a way, not too much since you are a full-grown man/woman/person. But it would be hard to warm up to the man and dolphin hybrid with how he can be sometimes.
Sometimes a little distant but seeing how young you are, it would bring up his more paternal.
Would absolutely teach you how to pay taxes, how to drive, or even how to cook if you don't know how to do any of these.
If you ask him for any stories in the military, this man would fucking cry and start going on and on about any story from his time in the military.

So I looked at that castle pic they posted and I have to wonder if it’s Skyhold. And if it is, that raises a LOT of concerns.
Hi Nonnie! The architecture there looks quite Fereldan and definitely human, and as many folks have observed, the buildings and the snowy environment recall Skyhold, Haven, Chantries and castles (in the case of the buildings) and the Temple of Sacred Ashes, especially when it’s the backdrop to the Corypheus bossfight. The possibility that it’s Skyhold in the Frostbacks and the subsequent plot implications of that are exciting (scary!).
I am not sure however [?]. The following is speculation only:
The segments were WIPs, seeming to me to be more along the lines of conceptual prototypes or an engine demo than anything else. They remind me a lot of the fairly generic, location-nonspecific early-stage MEA and Anthem conceptual prototypes that we were shown back then. They contain old DAI assets, such as the skull-topped urns and the bearded statues. The game is still in an early stage of development, and given the similarity to the images and partially-redacted images Mark Darrah was tweeting as teases last year (example), these pieces are largely from an earlier-still stage of development circa the leadup to Nov 2019 rather than being something which is a more recent creation. It’s possible that the featured architecture is also DAI-era, and that the segments were created to be internal environment prototypes* and as something to be shown at an event like EA Play. To do so the devs may have utilized whatever resources they currently had available, ending up with a mix of both new and old assets in the finished thing. In this case I’d guess the aims would have been more along the lines of trying to evoke a certain atmosphere or overall mood, incorporating stuff for symbolism purposes to set the hardcore fans into analysis and theorycrafting mode (e.g. the tree), including a clear marker that it’s DA (red lyrium) and teasing at very broad strokes (’check it out! the theme is dark’, ‘omg! red lyrium is spreading and we’re hinting at the Blight’, ‘wow doesn’t this look catastrophic’?) while still remaining fairly non-specific given this early stage.
At the time he tweeted the ‘example’ image, MD received a fan tweet which said that the image couldn’t be set in Tevinter and must be somewhere in the south of Thedas, on the basis that the Thedas we know is on the southern hemisphere of the planet and it wouldn’t be possible for it to snow in Tevinter since it should be near the Equator. MD responded with a link to an article which showed that there is a place in our world where it does, indeed, snow on the Equator. This makes me wonder about the possible locations of the snowy environment we saw, if indeed it is even meant to represent a specific location.
Interestingly the appearance of these WIPs at EA Play was a surprise to some of the devs too, like Karin Weekes.
* at the time of the MD example tweet, Lead Environment Artist Andre Santos tweeted in response joking “you’re giving away all our environment art secrets”

On this Memorial Day a remembrance in movies of the soldiers who fought in our most illustrious wars.
The Revolutionary War (1775-83): The Last of the Mohicans. D: Michael Mann (1992). Mea Culpa Ab Initio – I’ve never seen a good Revolutionary War movie (and I refuse to credit Roland Emmerich’s fraudulent piece of jingo). But Mann’s movie about a war thirteen years before 1776 will do since so much of it is about the bitter enmity between a pompous and arrogant British officer (Steven Waddington) and the Proto-American Free Man “Hawkeye” (Daniel Day-Lewis playing his first but far from last yank). It complicates matters that the Brit dies heroically to save Madeline Stowe (as who wouldn’t) while the “American,” (or harbinger of an undiscovered country we’re still striving towards) lives to fight another day.
The Civil War (1861-65): Glory. D: Edward Zwick (1989). The story of the 54th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment an all-black regiment told through the experiences of an escaped slave (Denzel Washington, who richly deserved the Oscar he won) a gravedigger, and a free intellectual (Morgan Freeman and Andre Braugher respectively, who were even better). The final doomed battle is a (heroic) footnote in the war’s history but it allows Zwick to look through the eyes of soldiers who more than anyone, understand the freedom they are fighting for.
World War I (1914-18). Sergeant York. D: Howard Hawks (1941). There are quite a few great movies about WWI featuring Frenchmen (Paths of Glory)  Australians (Gallipoli) and Germans (All Quiet on the Western Front). Most are pacifist, as would befit the bloodiest pointless war (wars have been bloodier or more pointless but not both) in history. We got into it on the tail end so it’s no surprise that the best American movie was a study of one of the most decorated war heroes of the conflict (Oscar-winning Gary Cooper) whose religious pacifism almost kept him out of the whole stupid mess. The movie skirts or ignores the irony of a man triumphing over his own conscience but it’s an insightful portrait of heroism nonetheless.
World War II (1939-45) The Story of G.I. Joe. D: Wellman (1945). The Big One. The Just War. The one where we were the good guys, freeing the world from the grip of an unspeakable evil, until a pair of mushroom clouds muddied the waters. For the most mythologized of conflicts, best to trust a film close to the source. Wellman’s movie, based on the writings of Ernie Pyle (a war correspondent of bottomless empathy, played WITH bottomless empathy by Burgess Meredith) and released just a little over a year from war’s end doesn’t romanticize these tired, grimy and fatalistic men slogging through Italy. None of them are presented as heroes (not even Robert Mitchum as a Captain whose devotion to his men is killing him) but by film’s end we have known uncommon valor.
The Korean War (1950-53) M*A*S*H. D: Robert Altman. (1970). Korea by way of Vietnam. While we were fighting in the latter country, this portrait of hip army doctors drinking, fucking and playing pranks (especially on pompous officers) to keep themselves sane while dealing with the bloody byproduct of the Korean “police action” became a counterculture hit. Then, when a TV series version that underlined and put exclamation points around its themes became an even bigger hit, people started to devalue the movie and its heroes’ Playboy-club sexism and elitism. It is true that more enlightened and moralistic eyes might see these guys as less than admirable. They also seem more than realistic.
The Vietnam War (1955-1975. We got involved in 1963) We Were Soldiers. D: Randall Wallace. It has been said that every war film is a pro-war film since no matter the depiction of horror or carnage, battle creates the kind of heightened and thrilling reality for which people go to movies. This film places us among the troops in a largely successful but costly attempt to gain control of a VC base camp (that almost immediately was recaptured after the troops left). After many acts of heroism and a spectacular display of American might we are led to ponder futility. And much later we see the commander (One of Mel Gibson’s best performances) find his men at the Vietnam War Memorial. If he isn’t thinking “What a waste,” he’s not thinking what we’re thinking.
Gulf War I (1990-91). Courage Under Fire. D: Edward Zwick. (1996). An investigation into whether Captain Karen Emma Walden (Meg Ryan playing the same part several different ways) should posthumously receive the Medal of Honor leads Lieutenant Colonel Nathan Serling (Denzel Washington) into a Rashomon-like inquiry that may uncover a war crime. The film gets at the kind of lightning-fast decisions that battle necessarily requires and how the stress and guilt of those decisions can cut deeper and leave uglier scars than the most painful wounds. Even in a conflict usually portrayed as a milk run.
War in Afghanistan (2001-present) and Iraq War (2003-present). The Messenger. D: Oren Moverman (2009). And finally this Memorial Day a movie about what we’re memorializing. Two men with a job. They go to a house, deliver the news that a loved one, a soldier has died. They then refer to grief counsel, mouth words of comfort but most importantly they bear witness and so do we. And if we can take away anything from this movie while admiring the stoic empathy of Ben Foster and Woody Harrelson (Each actor’s best performance) and the other actors showing us the many shades of shock and grief, let us take away that this is still going on. Eleven years from this movies’ release, this ritual, necessary and humane, hasn’t ceased. People are still coming to houses delivering bad news about people we’ve forgotten about fighting endless and forgotten wars. Have a Memorial Day.

'France Football' says sorry to Iniesta for not giving him the Ballon d'Or
The head of prestigious French magazine 'France Football', Pascal Ferré, has written a 'mea culpa' and demonstrated his regret that Andres Iniesta has never been awarded the Ballon d'Or award chosen by the magazine.
Under the headline "Sorry, Andres", the article contains a cascade of praise towards Iniesta.
"He is the best facilitator of play of all time. The majority of his contemporaries make their lives complicated, but he has enjoyed himself on the pitch for 15 years, making everything simple. Without any vanity, he only thinks about bringing the play to life," said Pascal Ferre.
Ferré adds that "Iniesta's talent is to invent for others. Without him, Messi would have grown tired much more quickly at Barça. His altruism has deprived him of getting even more recognition."
Lastly, the prestigious magazine said it is "an anomaly" that a player of the quality of the Barcelona midfielder has never won the Ballon d'Or. "Of all the absences on the list of Ballon d'Or winners, his is very painful," said the editor.

Barcelona are in crisis. Here’s how Valverde can turn Messi, Suarez & Co. around
Hands up if you’re loving every second of Barcelona’s ever-deepening crisis of faith, hapless away form and evident bewilderment, as every rival now plays them with the conviction that Spain’s champions are there for the taking.
You’re not alone. It’s one of sport’s most enduring storylines, as teams that have lain waste to all opponents before them with absolute inevitability then wane, decline and get pulverised. It’s not a matter of “maybe,” only a matter of how well you prepare and cope. “Nothing’s more certain than death, taxes and the collapse of possession football if it’s not properly cared for,” as Benjamin Franklin surely meant to say.
For that reason there will be widespread glee about Barcelona’s sudden vulnerability, far further than among Madridistas, Espanyol fans and anyone of a Manchester United, Juventus or Arsenal persuasion who still resents either the manner or just the pain of those three Champions League final defeats since 2006.
– Hunter: Ansu Fati proves ‘Barca DNA’ as strong as ever – Marcotti’s Musings: Catch up with the weekend action – Ogden: Why Man United’s owners won’t care about bad results
People find it fascinating, even enjoyable, when mighty edifices crumble and fall. They call it “Schadenfreude” in German, a deliciously malicious enjoyment of someone else’s woes. Football has, metaphorically, become such a bloodlust sport that there will be many who think that the only feasible remedy is to accept Ernesto Valverde’s mea culpa on Saturday night after Barca lost in Granada for the first time since 1972 and sack him.
(A fun stat: Barça has lost there five times in club history, and every time it happened, they failed to win La Liga that season.)
During the buildup to Tuesday’s Camp Nou meeting between La Liga’s highest scoring teams thus far, with Villarreal matching Barca’s 12 goals after five games, Valverde accepted the reality of his side’s malaise. “Coaches are always fighting against the sack. That’s not a novelty for me or any of my peers. Given the job I’ve got, it’s results that dictate [my fate]. If Barca aren’t leaders, then the manager’s under intense scrutiny. But two good results can end a ‘crisis.'”
A couple of weeks ago Messi admitted, “I think everyone worried that the coach might be sacked at the end of last season because we didn’t meet our objectives, but it was more the players’ fault than his.”
The problems with Valverde
Three things are true of Valverde. First, while Barcelona were bristling with steely ambition and their key leaders were fit and on form, his “light hand on the tiller” approach to management was perfect. Just look at the good haul of trophies since he took over.
Secondly, now that the seas are extremely stormy, his style of coaching — specifically the “pact” he struck with the squad leaders that rather than him being the outright boss (like an Alex Ferguson), he’d be primus inter pares, aka “first among equals” — will need an upgrade. That he struck such a deal with Messi, Sergio Busquets, Gerard Pique and Luis Suarez made sense: His was the ultimate responsibility, but it was an extremely benign, consultative dictatorship.
It’s a long way of saying that Valverde reckoned, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” It worked a treat … up to a point. Now it’s out of date. Things are broken. They’re fixable but cracked.
The third thing that’s true of Valverde, I’d argue, is that he isn’t enjoying his work as much as he once did.
Yeah, I hear you: boo-hoo-hoo. He’s well paid, and he knew the stresses and potential indignities of managing a huge, often self-destructive and deeply divided club such as FC Barcelona. You’re playing the world’s smallest violin in sympathy for him, right? But this is a decent, hard-working guy who’s respected by the large majority of his squad, simply doing the same things that won him six trophies (and a UEFA Cup runners-up medal with Espanyol) before he took over at Barca.
He’s not a dud. He is not someone to be dissed lightly, nor is sacking him the real solution to what’s been going wrong.
Tumblr media
Ernesto Valverde needs to change his tactics to get the best out of his team.
The flaws are easy to list and interdependent. Fundamental to Barcelona’s producing a brand of football that was hellish to combat and made them if not unique then brand leaders was positional play. Intricate, demanding and intelligent play that required both discipline and intelligence. Yet it has been abandoned by the club, in the first team at least, for some considerable time.
Eventually, under someone such as Xavi perhaps, it’ll be restored, but will there be competent students to impose it?
That’s an intriguing question for the future. Positional play helps possession play, as does the availability of Xavi and Andres Iniesta. Gradually, Barcelona’s actual amounts of possession have declined, but much more startling has been the decline in strategy for why possession is important: what you can do with it to punish the opposition. In the cases of some players, “possession” has begun to mean “running with the ball” rather than letting the ball do the work. It’s anathema to the Frank Rijkaard, Johan Cruyff, Pep Guardiola and Tito Vilanova school of thought.
Barcelona are not anywhere near as tough — whether physically, spiritually, athletically or competitively — as they were in the era when they could count on Puyol, David Villa, Samuel Eto’o, Iniesta, Xavi, Dani Alves, Pedro, Seydou Keita, Yaya Toure or Eric Abidal. Gradually — and I think this is an inescapable truth — they’ve gotten a little softer. The mix of technique, brains, character, strength, athleticism and height declined across the first-team squad.
There’s also less pace. Several of those players who would feature in most people’s “best XI” of the current squad are actively short of pace, either in explosive sprints or over a foot race. When the ball isn’t moving quickly, this becomes a far greater Achilles’ heel.
President Josep Bartomeu has been pretty obsessed with passing the buck, whether it existed or not, to the guys who did his football planning: Andoni Zubizarreta, Robert Fernandez, Pep Segura and the exceptional Joan Vila, three of whom should have been retained. Now he’s left with an imbalanced squad in which two of the three full-backs, Junior Firpo and Nelson Semedo, aren’t good enough, in which there’s that lack of pace and in which no one seems to have planned for the fact that the only centre-forward turns 33 in January, carries extra weight, struggles to get away from defenders and hasn’t scored away from home in the Champions League in four years.
Luis Suarez remains an astonishingly clever, competitive and successful footballer, but the lack of strategy to replace him or make him compete for his place has shown either incompetence or fear of upsetting his major stakeholder, Messi.
Barcelona need to change formations
Let me propose a solution for Barcelona supporters. It’s a good one too. Hopefully Valverde is reading this.
Apart from the instincts that Pique, Busquets, Jordi Alba and perhaps Arthur are still imbued with, the whole position-possession-pressing thing that made the modern Barca famous, admired and successful has pretty much departed, meaning that the 4-3-3 they currently play is out-of-date. It’s a touchstone of the philosophy that, in due course, Victor Valdes, Puyol, Xavi and perhaps even Jordi Cruyff could reinstate, but right now, it’s a relic.
Barcelona, away from home, simply do not possess the means to make that formation effective. It’s a strength turned weakness. The solution is a 4-2-3-1. That formation is not a magical formula in itself but is a good fit for Barca’s playing staff while addressing current weaknesses and turning them into strengths.
Tumblr media
Frenkie De Jong would benefit from a switch in formation at Barcelona as he continues to gel with his new team.
Frenkie De Jong was always going to require time to settle in and develop. He’s 22 with only 12 Champions League matches and fewer international caps. But most of his impressive football at Ajax was part of the pivotal partnership in a 4-2-3-1. Let him enjoy that role next to Busquets (on rotation with Arthur/Rakitic and so on).
Busquets benefitted hugely from Ivan Rakitic playing as a “double-pivot” next to him for large parts of the past two seasons. In fact, Valverde’s Barcelona were often lined up in a 4-4-2 last term. De Jong can be Busquets’ bodyguard now.
Another new signing, Antoine Griezmann, doesn’t like playing as a winger or very much as centre-forward. But right now, he could easily play as a No. 9 in front of Ousmane Dembele, Messi and Fati Ansu until Suarez trains away a kilo or two. After that, Barca could run Suarez at No. 9 with permutations of Messi coming in off the right, Griezmann in the middle of the three and Ansu or Dembele on the left. That not only could augment the chance creation but also would offer Valverde the option of installing a high press.
The 4-2-3-1 formation probably asks the full-backs to fly forward far less than, say, Alba currently does. But with Alba and Roberto edging forward into midfield to flank Busquets and De Jong, a mixture of Pique, Jean-Clair Todibo, Clement Lenglet and Samuel Umtiti as the alert, high-line centre-backs and Marc-Andre ter Stegen happy to play the “sweeper-keeper” role, there are far more solutions than new problems.
Valverde has had the chutzpah to try to find solutions by dropping Busquets, promoting Ansu and Carles Perez and mysteriously giving Rakitic the kind of limited minutes that suggest he was either caught swearing in church or singing the Real Madrid anthem in the showers.
The burning question now is whether Valverde also the chutzpah to accept that 4-3-3 is now making his team weaker and change formation.

Twittererye 3/?
                               ‘Hello admins!’ the message reads.
It came from Andres Bonifacio’s admin. There’s no follow up after that, and based on the time sent, it’s been at least three hours since it was sent. She’s wondering what the admin wants and why there was no reply after the initial message. Thinking it wouldn’t hurt to know what’s going on, and besides she needs a distraction to take her mind off work, she types a response.
                                 ‘Hello.’
‘Uy, hello!’ the reply came about a minute after.
‘Ako pala si Marc, admin ni Boni. J Sayang umalis ka na after ng show, hindi tayo nagkita. Si Polo na lang naabutan ko.’
She stops and tries to recall... Show? What show? Then he remembers meeting Pole’s admin when she watched Hedwig.  And “Polo”, at least now she knows his name.  She smiles
                               ‘Sa Hedwig? Nanood ka din?’
‘Kasama ako sa production, alipin.’ She laughs
‘ Gusto ko lang mag thank you sa pagpunta sa show.’
‘Ang ganda ng show, ang galing ng cast. May re-run ba?’
‘Hindi ko alam, wala naman napag-usapan. Pero sana meron next season. Kaya din pala ako nag message, kapag may mga plays, pwede ko kayo makunan ng free tickets. Sabihin ko nalang dito pag meron. Naisahan ka nyang ni Polo sa Hedwig, nanghingi lang ng ticket sakin yan, on the day pa!’
‘Oo nga pala, bakit wala pa si Polo? Ganitong oras, gising pa yung mokong na yun a’
‘Pololo! Asan ka na, ano na? Kami na lang bang dalawa ni Miong mag-uusap dito?’ she laughs at reading this.
‘Teka, ano nga pala pangalan mo?’
                               ‘Mea’
‘Mukhang close kayo ni Polo, magkakilala na ba kayo before the fandom?’
Her heart starts pounding for no reason at all. She hears the familiar ping of an incoming email and grudgingly takes her eyes and attention off her phone. It turns out to be an email query that needs to be researched from past files. She spends good fifteen minutes before she goes back to her phone.
‘Sana gising pa siya’ she thinks.
‘ Oo. This was followed by a smiley.
               ‘Seryoso?’ she types back.
Ilang red horse yung naubos namin bago namin yan napatumba. Syado lang talagang focused sa pag-aaral. Kahit anong gawin namin dati para I distract sya, wa epek. Puro aral nasa utak, aral, trabaho, pamilya. Kaya nga walang girlfriend yan e.’
There it goes again, the faint, yet rapid beating of her heart. Why? And why did it she feel like her own heart jumped inside her when she read the last line
‘Feeling  ko nga, passionate sya sa studies. Nagla-law daw sya ngayon?’
Bakit mukhang close naman silang dalawa?’ she types, trying to ignore the persistent tightening of her chest.
‘Torpe yun.
May picture pa kayo.’ Her mind flies back to the events of that night, she can’t help but smile.
Baka naiistorbo kita.’
‘Hindi. Tapos na ako sa reports ko. Inaantay ko na lang yung meeting mamaya. Ok lang, bored din naman ako dito. Ikaw, bakakelanganmo na matulog.’
‘Ay oo nga pala, medaling araw na. Hahahahaha. One time, labas tayong tatlo.’
               ‘Sige, sige, thanks.’
That ended their conversation. She smiles as she recalls
 ~o~
Marc wakes up with the incessant ringing of his phone. Given that his ringtone
“MARCUS AURELIUS HIDALGO ANO YUNG PINAGSASABI MO SA GROUPCHAT?!” Polo yelled from the other line.
“Apollo Geronimo, kinwento ko lang kay Mea yung tungkol sayo.” He yawns.
                               “Gago nito.”
“Thank you.” Marc paused, something just hit his fresh-from-bed brain.
“Ewan ko sa’yo. Wag mo ulitin yun kundi ikaw ilalaglag ko. Bye.”
Before he could say anything, Polo ended the call. He blinks several times, his brain processing the question he’s about to ask his friend before the call was terminated. When at last he’s formed a coherent thought, he punches in his friend’s number and waits for an answer.
“Pololo, may tanong ako.” He greets as Polo answered.
                               “Ano yun.”
He replies, his voice showing traces of irritation.
“Polo, hindi naman sa nangingialam ako, pero baka naman kasi masyado na napupunta sa isip mo yung RP nyo sa twitter. Tol, twitter lang yun, RP lang yun. Ano bang malay natin kung may boyfriend sya? Okay lang kung friends, sige, pero tol, hinay-hinay muna. Wag ka masyadong magpapaniwala, baka masaktan ka na naman.” Again, silence.
“Nasobrahan ka lang ng tulog, boy. Ikain mo nay an. Ang dami mong naiisip.” With this Polo ends the call.
He pockets his phone and stares outside.
~o~
Na mi-miss ko na silang dalawa. Kung sino man may kakilala kay twitter Pole, paki chismis sakin. hihihihihi

Pectin Market Latest Update Prospects and Growth Assessment
The global pectin market is estimated to reach USD 1.87 billion by 2026 and is anticipated to grow at a CAGR of 6.4 % from 2018 to 2026. Pectin market is projected to witness significant growth over the forecast period. Increasing health consciousness among consumers and various health benefits of pectin products is expected to drive the global market over the forecast period.
Pectin are plant-derived compounds, a structural heteropoly saccharide that is contained in primary cell walls of the terrestrial plants. It is mainly extracted from citrus fruits, apples, apricots, cherries, oranges, and carrots. Commercially, it is available in the form of white to light brown powder. The industry is characterized by companies characterized by medium level of integration in the value chain. Packaging and shipping play an important role in integrating the value chain. This helps the companies to incorporate their businesses in a cost-effective way.

Suppliers include companies which are involved in the production & distribution of processes raw materials such as apple, citrus, and others. The rising shortage of raw materials and increased import for Brazil and European countries is resulting in high bargaining power to the suppliers. In addition, low threat of backward integration from manufacturers, except some of the major and giant market players is also resulting in high bargaining power of suppliers.
The pectin market witnesses an external threat of substitution from natural gum and Citri-fi. Citri-fi is natural functional fibers, which are derived from citrus fruits. They offer hydrocolloidal properties, which is significant for high water holding capabilities. There are also some synthetic alternatives such as polyurethane, but these are usually not considered suitable for skin contact applications. However, the various advantages of pectin over these products are expected to lower the threat.
Pectin extracted from this raw material are used for high cholesterol high blood pressure, & blood sugar, joint pain, weight loss, prevent colon & prostate cancer, high triglycerides, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and diabetes. In addition, some people also use pectin to prevent poisoning caused by strontium, and other heavy metals.
Despite the shortage in the supply of raw material, some of the major players are also trying to increase their production capacity to meet the demand. For instance, Cargill acquired FMC’s plant to boost their pectin production capacity. The market is highly fragmented and competitive. In addition, it also experiences the presence of small-scale as well as giant players. The key and major companies are investing in R&D activities and frequently involved in merger and acquisition to increase their market share and product portfolio. Some of the companies that have a significant influence in the industry include DuPont Nutrition & Health, FMC Corporation, CPKelco, Herbstreith & Fox, Devson Impex Private Limited, Cargill Incorporated, B&V srl. and Yantai Andre Pectin Co. Ltd.

Heritage and urbanization, how an icon stood the test of time
#PHnews: Heritage and urbanization, how an icon stood the test of time
KAWIT, Cavite -- The province of Cavite, with its plethora of historical sites (not to mention events), is being transformed as an investment hub in the greater capital region. With this changing landscape, how will history play in the backdrop of modernization and industrialization?
In celebration of Museums and Galleries Month this October, the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP), through its Museo ni Emilio Aguinaldo (MEA), has mounted the exhibit "Emilio Aguinaldo Shrine: Identity on Shifting Landscape" from October 5 to November 22 to present the rich historical and cultural face of the iconic Emilio Aguinaldo Shrine amid recent developments and the influx of migration.
Cluster head of NHCP-Cavite and MEA curator Haidee Paulette Bedruz said Thursday that the theme came about as the construction of new establishments and the imminent completion of a business site offer a new face for the town.
"It gives people new things to see and visit in Kawit, unlike in the past where(in) visiting Kawit means visiting the Aguinaldo Shrine," she said.
The NHCP has brought this concept to revisit the role the Aguinaldo Shrine played in the town's historical, cultural, and tourism dynamics.
By creating awareness of the significance of built heritage in perpetuating the ideals of the 1896 Revolution and the Proclamation of Independence in 1898 as relevant to the people in the present, Bedruz expressed hope that this would empower Kawiteños to see the value of the Aguinaldo Shrine, "amidst their current progress and continue to associate themselves in the identity of the house."
"As presented in its narratives, it will show how the Aguinaldo Shrine has been part of the larger community of Kawit, allowing it to remain a part of our national history yet relevant to the local perspective of the people," she said.
In recent years, cultural mapping engaged the community and saw the significance of other heritage sites, such as the Irasan, Pandayan, and the St. Mary Magdalene Church.
In the past, these sites were visited not for tourism but for their actual purposes. Today, they are part of a bigger cultural and historical narrative of the town.
The Museum and Galleries Month is observed every October by virtue of Presidential Proclamation 798 series of 1991. This year's celebration theme is "Building the Nation, One Exhibit at a Time".
The exhibit also forms part of “Project Bayani: Curating South Luzon”, a simultaneous exhibit among members of the Southern Luzon Association of Museums. The project attempts to promote a museum route by creating a unifying exhibit to capture in a single theme the thrusts of each participating museum.
The MEA is one of the three NHCP-run museums in Cavite, along with Museo ni Baldomero ni Aguinaldo (MBA, also located in Kawit town), and the Museo ng Paglilitis ni Andres Bonifacio (Bonifacio Trial House) in Cavite's Maragondon.
The museum, located at the ground floor of the iconic Emilio Aguinaldo Shrine in Kaingen village here, is open from 8 a.m. to 4.p.m. on Tuesdays to Sundays. (PNA)

Ramblings: Tampa Evens Up; Jeff Skinner; Tom Wilson; Andrei Vasilevskiy; Defence Shot Distribution – May 18
We had a pretty lopsided game in Washington on Thursday night in favour of the Capitals. Unfortunately for Washington and their fans, this was a scene that has played out often in the playoffs over the last decade: dominate the opposition and lose.
A late third-period goal from Alex Killorn just as a penalty was expiring gave Tampa Bay a 3-2 lead, a lead they would not relinquish, adding a late empty-net goal for the 4-2 win. After falling behind at home 0-2 in the series, the Lightning won both games on the road to even things back up at two.
This was an outstanding game from Andrei Vasilevskiy. He faced nearly 40 shots and some of his saves were of the 10-bell variety, particularly in the third period. More on him a little later.
These types of games happen. Sometimes you just tip your cap (no pun intended, honestly) to the opposing goaltender and move on.
For what it’s worth, Nicklas Backstrom looked fine in his return, but Evgeny Kuznetsov was given significantly more ice time. This is nothing to be overly concerned about given Backstrom hadn’t played in a while and it’s doubtful he’s anywhere close to healthy anyway, but I wonder if this trend might continue next year. It’s nothing against Backstrom, he’s still a wonderful player. Kuznetsov is just that good, though. Maybe it won’t be a significant change, maybe they’re just close to even. Wondering aloud, over here.
Though Ovechkin is known for his goal-scoring prowess, this pass to Evgney Kuznetsov on the team’s second goal of the game, a backhand cross-ice sauce that fell right on Kuzy’s tape, was sick:

— Shayna (@hayyyshayyy) May 18, 2018
That’s not Erik Karlsson-To-Mike Hoffman, but it’s pretty good.
*
Tom Wilson may not be a fan favourite outside the Washington fanbase but there’s no denying one thing: he had a monster fantasy season in multi-category leagues. Putting up 250 hits, 51 blocked shots, and 187 penalty minutes while being able to chip in 14 goals and 35 points is a very, very good year. Even in standard ESPN leagues where hits aren’t counted, he had so many PIMs that he was still a top-50 forward.
That brings me around to 2018-19. What do we do here? If he can replicate this season, there are no issues with drafting him as a top-100 player.
The big concern is his usage. He was a nice surprise on the top forward line at five-on-five and that slotting got him nearly 16 minutes of ice time per game. Does he get that slotting again? Jakub Vrana has played so well these playoffs he’s forced a reluctant Barry Trotz to eventually move him into the top-6. Andre Burakovsky is still a very talented forward who’s been battling injuries this year. If he can right the ship in 2018-19, do those two forwards push Wilson down the lineup?
Maybe not. Maybe Trotz decides that it’s best to lengthen the lineup and use one of Vrana/Burakovsky on the third line with Eller/Connolly (or whomever) to give them three more balanced scoring lines. Wilson is also an RFA and is undoubtedly going to get a raise on his $2-million that he made last year. Will that factor in?
Wilson’s upside is capped. He’s just not that good offensively without significant help and he won’t get anywhere near the top PP unit barring injuries or severe underperformance by that unit. He can be a Patrick Maroon-type where 15-ish goals and 40 points is a good year. With the peripheral stat stuffing, that’s more than enough. As long as he stays in the top-6, it’s more than doable.
*
By now, we’ve all seen quotes and rumours that there may be some big changes coming to Carolina this offseason. I think we all assumed that would mean a defenceman or two moved, but another name has appeared:
Bob McKenzie on Jeff Skinner: “The feeling is he will almost certainly be traded.”
Full quote from the Bobcast: pic.twitter.com/PHOKZFHne8
— Platinum Seat Ghosts (@3rdPeriodSuits) May 17, 2018
This does make sense when you think about Jeff Skinner only having one year left and maybe the team doesn’t want to commit to him beyond that. It is kind of sad in a way, though, as the franchise failed to advance to the playoffs in any of Skinner’s eight seasons. A waste of an elite scoring talent. Carolina’s loss will be someone else’s gain.
This is a guy either Alberta team should be targeting.
*
There was a good read by Joe Smith over at The Athletic a couple days ago on Andrei Vasilevskiy. They basically talked to current goalies like Henrik Lundqvist and Ben Bishop as well as former goalies like Brian Boucher and Kevin Weekes on what made Vasilevskiy so good this year. Most of the praise came down to two things: athleticism and footwork.
I have no way of really proving this but my thought has always been your goalie needs to be the best athlete on the team. When you look at elite goalies over the last 20 years like Dominik Hasek and Tim Thomas, they were what some may say is unconventional but they used their athleticism to their advantage. Carey Price (before the injuries) did the same even though he was technically very sound. Regardless, being a great goalie is about making saves you’re not supposed to make, not about stopping 50-foot slapshots from the point. Hasek, Thomas, and Price could all do this. Vasilevskiy does it as well.
This is a mea culpa. Last summer, I wrote a couple times that I wasn’t sold on him but reading the opinions of others and watching him more this year has changed my mind a bit. Goaltending is a fickle thing so he could very well be a .910 goalie next year instead of .920. But when I read what is being said about him, it’s hard not to think he won’t have a very successful career. It’s easy to forget he doesn’t even turn 24 years old for two months.
Now, if Tampa could fix that penalty kill…
*
For those reading my Ramblings this week, thanks! Also, you’ll be reminded that we’ve been talking about shot rates across the league.
On Tuesday, the discussion revolved around rising shot attempt marks at five-on-five and how this affects goal scoring. The basic premise is that with the rise in shot rates, the middling totals are become a little devalued, as are guys with middling goal-scoring totals. The most important thing to note is that the number of players with over 200 shots on goal or 20 goals at all strengths has risen a lot over the last few years.
Yesterday, we covered forwards specifically. Shot rates are increasing everywhere except the absolute top tier. Despite more shots in the NHL this year than in recent seasons, the elite forward shot totals at five-on-five didn’t increase. Rather, the elite shot seasons disappeared. There were still excellent seasons, and more crossed the 200-shot threshold at five-on-five, but the 220+ seasons were not there. The league-wide shot increase led to more shots in the middle but not at the very top.
Today, we look at defencemen.
While the forwards may have been nitpicking a bit – does anyone really care if Alex Ovechkin lands 219 shots instead of 226? – the defence shot distribution is a whole other ball game. It’s changed to a much greater degree than it has for the forwards.
First things first, here’s what the distribution looks like for defencemen at five-on-five in each of the previous five seasons:
Let’s go through a few things.
In 2013-14, the mean shot on goal total for forwards at five-on-five was 79.26, which rose to 83.54 in 2017-18. That represents an increase of 5.40 percent, which means the average forward is landing 5.40 percent more shots on goal than he was four years ago. Fair enough.
In 2013-14, the mean shot on goal total for defencemen at five-on-five was 51.32, which rose to 63.38 in 2017-18. That represents an increase of 23.50 percent, which means the average defenceman is landing 23.5 percent more shots on goal than four years ago. That is a lot.
That’s not a nitpick, either. Each season from 2013 through 2016 saw mean shot totals between 50.8 and 52.4 among defencemen. That has exploded each of the past two seasons with the mean in 2016-17 being 57.11 and of course last year was 63.38. While forwards are shooting more than they have in recent years, defencemen are just racking up shots.
Keep in mind that this is shots on goal and not just shot attempts. These are shots taken by defencemen at five-on-five on which the goalie has to directly make a save. This isn’t defencemen shooting around shinpads for a deflection or missing the net on purpose to look for a backdoor goal.
Also, unlike the forwards, elite shot totals from blue liners are becoming more readily available. You can see the 2017-18 season stretch further to the right than any previous year in the graph above but the numbers really tell the story: over the past five years, there have been 16 instances of a defenceman with at least 160 shots on goal at five-on-five, and seven of them came in 2017-18.  Four of them came in 2016-17, with the other five spread over the three previous seasons. The elite shot totals from defencemen has been increasing rapidly over the last couple years. So, again, unlike the forwards, not only are there higher middling totals, there are more elite totals as well.
Now, it’s a matter of what to do about the elite guys. Brent Burns continues to be far-and-away the best volume option. Dougie Hamilton was often among the top, and still is, but he’s got company now in guys like Seth Jones and Darnell Nurse. There are other young stars like Zach Werenski and Ivan Provorov who could be knocking on the door soon. Don’t forget a healthy Erik Karlsson. If Hamilton can’t consistently separate himself in the shot department as he has over the past few years, how much value does he really have above everyone else? Unless Calgary fixes that power play.
The devaluation of the non-Brent Burns top shooting options on the blue line is just one of the interesting fantasy angles here. What does this say about the increase in goal scoring if defencemen are shooting so much more and yet goals are still going up? Is it time we start viewing certain fantasy defencemen as if they were a fourth forward on the ice rather than a defenceman?
There is a lot more to dig into in the coming months. This doesn’t even start going into the power play production which is so critical to fantasy value. All the same, the way hockey is being played in the NHL is changing rapidly and with it is the way we should be valuing certain fantasy options.

do yall think there was a min age for kids being brought to andromeda?
like i just started the 'little things that matter' questline and it makes me curious. obvs no one who couldn't work was thawed out early, but who was allowed to make the trip? likely teenagers (10-18) and maybe even older children (5-10) but do you think people with very young children (<5) were turned away from the initiative just because of the unknowns? because of how andromeda viruses would conflict with their already weaker immune systems that hadn't quite had the time to develop into hardier bodies yet?
