Fancasting Instruments for OPLA
Since Sonya and Giona have gone into detail on how they chose individual instruments and themes for the One Piece characters, I have been thinking about what instruments and themes future characters would have.
Starting with characters we'll meet in season 2:
Vivi: Pan Flutes- Double Harmonic Scale - Lyrics
Okay, I know Nami's already a flute and Zoro has the bansuri, but I think pan flutes are different enough to be a bit more distinct. I thought about a harp, but I felt like I needed something more ancient for her, to her family's ties to before the Void Century and her direct link to the poneglyphs. Also pan flutes can be giant so we can get those super deep resonances for when she's in danger or when her leadership really shines. Also think of the flute duets she can have with Nami(yes, I ship them) As for her theme, it should be in a double harmonic scale, which is what gives us that signature middle-eastern/egyptian flavor. Also since Vivi's story is the main arc for season 2, she'll get this season's lyrical song. I like the sound of Dhvani Bhanushali for the singer, but I'm not too familiar with Bollywood or Middle Eastern singers so take this with a grain of salt.
The Sound Of Silence by Wuauquikuna | Panflute Ancient Egyptian Flute Ney music Nayan Video Song | Dhvani
Robin: Cello - Tango
The Cello is the sexiest string instrument ever, fight me. But it's also classy and classical, so it's perfect for our favorite archeologist. We're also going with a tango, because again sexy, but tangos also inevitably have an angsty or melancholic vibe to their passion, perfect for Robin's trauma and macabre sense of humor. Her them would usually in a minor key, but I think we'd get at least one instance of it in a major key after being rescued from Enies Lobby.
TANGO - A Tribute to Women (Official Music Video) - Tina Guo & Thibaut Vuillermet Wonder Woman Main Theme (Official Music Video) - Tina Guo
Chopper: Vibraphone & Gallop rhythm
Look, I tried really hard to stay away from "Christmas" instruments, but Chopper's a vibraphone. I almost went with the balalaika (Russian, triangular mandolin) instead, just to not be so on the nose. Then I remembered that Sonya and Giona gave Luffy the hurdygurdy because to them it was THE pirate instrument so fuck it, Chopper's a vibraphone. The vibraphone has that slightly whimsical/childish sound to it, but not quite as childish as a glockenspiel. And then we could use Tubular bells when he goes full on Monster Form. As far a signature for his theme, I think it would be fun to have the different hoof speeds--like a clip-clop clip-clop when things are chill or sad. A syncopated cut time for happy times, a kinda ta-dum ta-dum. Then a canter 123 123 when things are picking up or anxious and a full gallop for battles or celebrations.
Merry-Go-Round of Life for solo vibraphone Woodkid - The Great Escape (Official Audio)
Ace: Trumpet - Spanish/Brazilian Samba
Okay, so Mihawk stole the flamenco guitar, but nothing says fiery like those Spanish rifs. So we'll give Ace the Spanish trumpet, more in your face than the guitar, fitting for his young angry brashness vs Mihawk's older, refined experience. And instead of Flamenco, strict and disciplined in it's passion, we'll go for the Brazilian Samba, more fluid, more joyous and living life to it's fullest.
"The Mask of Zorro" (Play with Me n.83) - Andrea Giuffredi trumpet Samba de Janeiro (Instrumental)
Crocodile: Cabasa - 13/8
I feel like the Cabasa is good for Crocodile because it sounds like sand, slithery and gritty at the same time. His theme would be in 13/8, a more unusual unusal time signature to emphasize his outsider presence in Alabasta.
Cabasa Solo / Demo Songs that use 13/8 time
Bon Clay: French Horn- Arpeggios & trills
I struggled with Bon-chan, I really did. He needs to be comedic, but threatening, heroic but villainous. So I've gone with the French horn, probably the most versatile of the brass section. Also it seems to get the purest notes out of brass, at least to me. For his theme I'm picturing arpeggios and trills, to get that classical ballet feel. Just imagine that vs Sanji's jazz horns during their kick duel 😉.
Williams's Star Wars Leia's Theme, Horn Solo This jazz pianists INTERRUPTS me during moonlight sonata ??
Now for characters season 3 and on:
Blackbeard: Bass Accordion - 5/4 Clave, Luffy Inversed.
Now, unlike Sonya and Giona, my go-to instrument for pirates isn't the hurdygurdy, but the concertina in the accordion family. So, Blackbeard is going to be an accordion, but to emphasize his threat and size, we'll go with the Bass Accordion. As for his theme we'll go for a driving 5/4 Clave, that slow slow quick quick we get in the Mission Impossible theme. Also where Roger's theme was Luffy's theme reversed, Blackbeard's theme should be Luffy's theme Inversed, going up instead of down, etc. Because Blackbeard is pretty much Mirror-verse Luff. Do I actually know what that would sound like? No. I am not a composer and all my music theory is hapharzardly gleamed from Youtube.
[Accordion]Pirates of the Caribbean - He's a Pirate Bass accordion
Franky: Bass Guitar - Surf rock with brass
Look, Franky has a pompadour and is a cyborg that runs on Cola, and his real-world country is the US. So obviously we start with rockabilly/do-wop. But this is a pirate show, taking place on the high seas, and he's the shipwright, and he runs around in nothing but a speedo and an unbuttoned Hawaiian shirt. When you take 50s rock to the beach, it becomes surf music. But I also want that metallic sound for his cyborg side, so we'll turn to a ska-band instrumental arrangement. Think Reel Big Fish playing Fun Fun Fun by The Beach Boys, or Wipeout by The Surfaries. Franky's actual instrument for the Strawhat ensemble though will be the bass guitar, getting those awesome bass licks and being the support for the group, just like the Sunny gives everyone a home.
ACOUSTIC BASS SOLO Fun Fun Fun - The Beach Boys (Trumpet Cover) Reel Big Fish - Sell Out
Brook: Fiddle & Angklung - Jig 6/8
I was gonna go contrary and use a bassoon for Brook, mostly 'cause I like the way they sound, they can be serious or funny (and also because this bassoon quartet cover of Spooky Scary Skeleton, you're welcome). But…Brook's a fiddle. It's one of the classic sailing instruments, he actually uses a violin and if it's not Baroque, don't fix it. Here in the West the Marimba is the classic instrument for rattling skeletal bones, but I love the hollow bamboo sound you get from the Indonesian angklung. I think this would mostly be used in the more comedic moments, but since I want his theme to be a jig, you could use it to mimic the hard-shoes of Irish step dancers. I chose jig because it's a good, happy bouncy dancing rhythm and the jig is related to the hornpipe, the classic dance for sailors as we know from Popeye and Donald Duck. I want it to be 6/8 because you get that swinging bounce like in a waltz and it's my favorite time signature. ASLI ENAK BANGET INI ANGKLUNG Bohemian Rhapsody by Angklung Swallowtail Jig - Irish Fiddle Tune!
Perona: Hammered Dulcimer & Musical Saw - Waltz in minor key
I went with hammered dulcimer because the sound is a kind of mix of elegance and metallic edginess. It's more versatile than the harpsichord and the reverb of it's strings makes for a good lingering echo evoking vast stone chambers and gothic cathedrals. The musical saw has a haunting, ethereal sound, but can also be a little cartoony. So I feel like it's perfect for Perona's hollows. (I do not have a great ear for music, and I always end up playing the "is it a female soprano, musical saw or theremin?" game.) And we have to go waltz in a minor key for our ghost princess, those dark haunted sound of a minor key and the sweeping flying notes of a waltz.
Colin Beasley Hammered Dulcimer - Twinkle Twinkle Little Star "Dream Waltz" Legend of Zelda Hammered Dulcimer - "Kotake and Koume's Theme" by Colin Beasley SAW MAESTRO Austin Blackburn!
Hancock: Clarinet - Sultry Snake & Heartbeats
The clarinet can be sultry and sexy but still aloof. And slithery, because Hancock's main melody should be serpentine and snake-like and arrogant. The beat should be heartbeats though, because of how she affects everyone's hearts, getting faster and more intense especially in battle or when using her Devil Fruit powers.
Bad Guy Clarinet Cover (Billie Eilish)
Jinbe: Bassoon -Chinese flavor
I was pretty settled on bassoon for Brook, for a long time, but when I finally gave in and made him a fiddle, that freed the bassoon up for Jinbe. The bassoon has such a deep, resonant and warm sound, it's good for this big lovable guy. I bet it could also make pretty good whale-like noises. I know he's a whale-shark, not a whale, but still. Like Zoro's theme has a Japanese flavor to it, I think Jinbe's should have a Chinese flavor, to go with his stoic wisdom and his Fishman karate.
Chris Sales - Qi Liu, Two Chinese Pieces for Bassoon and Piano, Little Sisters of the Grassland
Shirahoshi: Hang/Handpan
The hang sounds kinda like muffled but echoey bells, so it has a real underwater vibe to it. it also sounds pretty ancient and mystical so I feel like it works very good for our giant mermaid princess who is also an ancient weapon.
Mumi - Nothing Else Matters (handpan cover)

This list includes a list of 5 anthologies coming out between now, and the end of the year! I am based in the UK and therefore all dates and relevant links I have found reflect this!
In These Hallowed Halls: A Dark Academia Anthology
Published by Titian Books on September 12th
Look I have not really enjoyed any dark academia I have read, nor have read from any of these authors so this is a risky choice. However, this is the season for dark academia and I am intrigued. This collection of 12 stories includes well known authors of the genre (sub genre?) Olivie Blake & M.L. Rio as well as David Bell, Susie Yang, Layne Fargo, J.T. Ellison, James Tate Hill, Kelly Andrew, Phoebe Qynne, Kate Weinberg, Helen Grant & Tori Bovalino.

Peach Pit
Published by Dzanc Books on September 12th
A collection of 16 stories about and following unlikeable, unhinged and monstrous women. Which basically sums up some of my favourite types of short story collections. With story description makes it sound similar to other collections such as Out There with a bit of Cursed Bunny. Edited by Molly Llewllyn and Kristel Buckly featuring stories from; Lauren Groff, Deesha Philyaw, K-Ming Chang, Megan Giddings, Sarah Rose Etter, Chaya Bhuvaneswar, Alicia Elliott, Chana Porter, Alice Ash, Maisy Card, Vanessa Chan, Chantal V. Johnson, Amada Leduc, Alison Rumfitt, Yah Yah Scholfield & Aliya Whitely.

Mermaids Never Drown
Published by Titian Press (UK) / Feiwel & Friends (US) on September 26th
From the team behind Vampires Never Get Old (which you may know about from the Story ‘First Kill’ which became a Netflix show) comes a second Young Adult collection exploring mermaids. Edited again by Zoraida Córdova and Natalie C. Parker and featuring many well known and beloved YA authors such as Darcie Little Badger, Kalynn Bayron, Preeti Chhibber, Rebecca Coffindaffer, Julie C. Dao, Maggie Tokuda-Hall, Adriana Herrera, June Hur, Katherine Locke, Kerri Maniscalco, Julie Murphy, Gretchen Schreiber, and Julian Winters. I am particularly excited to see Darcie Little Badger who I have loved both their long work (Elatose) and their short fiction (in Love Beyond Body Space and Time) and also I am intrigued by June Hur who I have only read Historical mystery work from so this will be a different spin.

Out There Screaming: An Anthology of New Black Horror
Published by Random House on October 3rd
An anthology I surprisingly only found out about when putting together this list. Out There Screaming is a collection of stories edited by writer and director Jordan Peele. It is an anthology of ‘all-new stories of Black horror, exploring not only the terrors of the supernatural but the chilling reality of injustice that haunts our nation. Alongside an introduction from Jordan Peele it also features stories by Erin E. Adams, Violet Allen, Lesley Nneka Arimah, Maurice Broaddus, Chesya Burke, P. Djèlí Clark, Ezra Claytan Daniels, Tananarive Due, Nalo Hopkinson, N.K. Jemisin, Justin C. Key, L.D. Lewis, Nnedi Okorafor, Tochi Onyebuchi, Rebecca Roanhorse, Nicole D. Sconiers, Rion Amilcar Scott, Terence Taylor, and Cadwell Turnbull.

The Book of Witches
Published by HarperVoyager on August 1st (US) and October 26th (UK)
Edited by Jonathan Strahan the editor from The Book of Dragons and featuring art from artist Alyssa Winans throughout This is large collection focusing around witches featuring 29 stories and poems from well known contemporary SFF authors; Linda Addison, C.L. Clark, P Djeli Clark, Indrapramit Das, Amal El Mohtar, Andrea Hairston, Millie Ho, Saad Hossain, Kathleen Jennings, Alaya Dawn Johnson, Cassandra Khaw, Fonda Lee, Darcie Little Badger, Ken Liu, Usman T. Malik, Maureen F. McHugh, Premee Mohamed, Garth Nix, Tobi Ogundiran, Tochi Onyebuchi, Miyuki Jane Pinckard, Kelly Robson, Angela Slatter, Andrea Stewart, Emily Teng, Sheree Renée Thomas, Tade Thompson, and E. Lily Yu. This is a must pick up for me for two reasons, I enjoyed reading The Book of Dragons last year, and found some new favourite short stories, and two it includes some of my favourite authors. So even if I only enjoy their stories this would be a win for me!

I just watched In the Key of Love and at the beginning I didn’t think I was going to like it much at all but by the end I actually really liked it. All of their acting was kind of bad and cringy in the beginning but it all got better. I didn’t think Laura and Scott had a lot of chemistry at the beginning either because they were just fighting and being kind of weird and awkward. They were super cute together by the end though. I didn’t think either of them were going to sound super good when I first heard them but they sounded really good together. The location was cute and I like that Jake was really focused on Jen‘s wedding. Jake’s entrance at the end was the best one I’ve ever seen in any romantic movie. It was so perfect and cute. I like that they didn’t have some huge stupid fight at the end too. My thoughts during the movie:
Ashley seems like kind of a hippie.
I like Kyle.
Jake seems very uptight.
I hope Sasha stands up for herself and gets a position she deserves.
I didn’t think they were that cute together but when they stop arguing they can be.
They definitely sound better together.
Poor Jake. That’s crappy.
Maggie’s totally gonna write a new song for the album and I find that adorable.
Oh no! Those flowers were so pretty.
Ugh they should’ve just kissed.
Maggie’s probably gonna be a little upset.
I’m proud of Sasha.
That was a perfect entrance.

Page 4: The world watched as Prince Harry came face-to-face with the royal family for the first time in over a year to say farewell to his late grandfather Prince Philip, and now that he's back home in Montecito, California, with pregnant wife Meghan Markle and their 23-month old son Archie, Harry's been reflecting on the emotional reunion and preparing for what lies ahead in the coming months -- although the trip inevitably had its share of awkward moments, he's generally happy with how it went, and things had been especially frosty between Harry and The Firm following his televised tell-all, but the main thing is they broke the ice, and he's finally communicating properly with his family again -- in fact, Harry is said to have enjoyed low-key meetings with several relatives before heading back home to the States, including his grandmother Queen Elizabeth and cousin Princess Eugenie, although he did not have a one-on-one chat with his estranged father Prince Charles and it was more of a civilized catch-up than an intense sit-down because it wasn't an appropriate time to delve into recent tensions; however, Harry did take the opportunity to reassure everyone it wasn't his intention to upset them and that he loves them all very much and they, in turn, echoed their affection for him and they mutually agreed to keep moving forward positively and constructively and there's a still a lot of unfinished business, many are hopeful that all will be resolved when Harry returns to the U.K. for a memorial honoring his late mother Princess Diana on July 1 and this could be Harry's last chance to sit down with his family and properly repair things and Harry and Prince William have both agreed to meet before the event and have a frank discussion about how they can do their best to fix the damage that's been done and air their grievances in a calm and pragmatic manner
Page 6: Next spring, Johnny Depp and his ex Amber Heard will head back to court in the latest installment of their ongoing legal drama, but this time, Johnny, who filed a $50 million defamation lawsuit against Amber following a 2018 op-ed where she detailed her experience as an alleged abuse victim, is determined to clear his name one and for all -- Johnny and his team have new and explosive testimony from two of the responding officers, plus new body cam footage, that they believe will finally turn things around in their favor and they're convinced it will show that Amber made up claims about their alleged May 2016 brawl in an attempt to ruin him and the video shows a neat apartment with nothing out of place, nothing broken or anything to suggest a knockdown fight had just occurred -- Johnny's always maintained his innocence and now he's confident this evidence will prove it and Johnny's also working on a tell-all that he intends to release as soon as he's declared innocent and the tome will vividly detail what happened on that night in 2016 and throughout their year-long marriage and Johnny feels Amber never really loved him and his friends warned him not to marry her, but he didn't listen, and he's paid a dear price for it
Page 7: A fateful chapter from Ashton Kutcher's past could be coming back to haunt him as he's being urged to take part in the upcoming documentary on his late ex Brittany Murphy and it's stressing him out to no end and so far, he wants nothing to do with it -- the documentary is going to look for clues as to why it all ended like this for Brittany, and producers want Ashton to tell his side of the story and the thinking is he may have little choice but to participate because he had a front row seat to Brittany's life, and her fans want him to shed light on what really happened
* Alec Baldwin and wife Hilaria Baldwin knew that having six kids would be a challenge, but they're realizing it's even harder to find nannies who are up to the task of tending to their brood because Alec and Hilaria have some pretty high expectations for the kind of people they want to employ and what the job entails and it's been a logistical nightmare hiring and scheduling a rotating team of caretakers -- in addition to children Carmen, 7, Rafael, 5, Leonardo, 4, and Romeo, 2, the parents welcomed baby Eduardo in September and their sixth child, Lucia, via surrogate in March -- long hours and multitasking are a must given the meal prep, diaper changes and homeschooling, plus the nannies have to know how to deal with a cranky set of kids without losing their cool and Hilaria's every bit the mother hen, so she won't settle for anything less than perfection
* Harry Hamlin and Lisa Rinna have had it with the romance between their daughter Amelia Hamlin and Scott Disick -- Amelia recently raised eyebrows when she was spotted with bruised lips, which often occurs after lip filler injections, and Harry and Lisa drew a line in the sand and they're concerned that Scott is convincing her to mess with her appearance, especially since she's talking about boob and butt surgery to keep his eyes off other girls and ever since the couple hooked up last October, Harry and Lisa have been sitting back and hoping that Amelia would come to her senses, but it's clear she's in way too deep now, and that they need to make their feelings known, but the worry is that Amelia will be pregnant before she knows it, so Harry and Lisa are ready to take the bull by the horns before Scott ruins their daughter's life
Page 8: It's been nearly four years since Matt Lauer was fired from Today amid a sexual assault scandal, and he's still being snubbed by his old Hamptons crowd -- Matt, who retreated to his waterfront estate in the celeb enclave after a colleague accused him of assaulting her at the 2014 Olympics, has done everything he can to regain his place in the community, but he's remained persona non grata despite his best efforts; he'll turn up to fancy events and be super friendly with everyone but most people just turn their noses at him -- the disgraced ex-anchor, who hooked up with public relations exec Shamin Abas after his 2019 divorce, has been talking to friends about marrying her in a big Hamptons wedding, but it's hard to imagine there'd be much of a turnout and people have had ample time to put out the welcome mat, but it seems like they've shut their doors on Matt for good
* Former Playboy Bunny Kendra Wilkinson has gone from living the high life to pounding the pavement to earn a paycheck, and she's missing the glam old days -- Kendra, who enjoyed a pampered existence as Hugh Hefner's girlfriend and Girls Next Door star, has had to bring home the bacon in the wake of her 2018 divorce from Hank Baskett to help provide for their two children, Hank, 11, and Alijah, 6, and being a single mom is a lot harder than she thought it would be and she currently resides in a humble Calabasas rental and recently snagged a job as a realtor and was hired by Kyle Richards' husband Mauricio Umansky and she's working long hours and weekends, and she looks pretty burnt out and Kendra tries not to complain and is sucking it up as best she can, but she can't help but think about the times when she didn't have to worry about bills and rent and could sleep in as long as she wanted
* He was once Hollywood's biggest bon vivant, but Jack Nicholson has become a total hermit, and friends are concerned that he's harder to get a hold of than ever and Jack's shut himself away in his hilltop home on Mulholland Drive, and everyone is worried about his state of mind -- the actor, who was last seen in public looking disheveled at a January 2020 Lakers game, says he just wants to spend his retirement in peace and quiet, but his loved ones wish he'd make himself a little more accessible -- Jack's admitted that he yearns for one last romance, but how can that happen when he's hiding at home? Jack turned 84 in April, and it's as if he's resigned to spending the rest of his life alone and it's so sad, but it seems there's nothing anyone can do for him

Page 22: Selling Sunset's Christine Quinn brightened things up in designer duds while walking her dogs in L.A., Monique Green attended the drive-in premiere of her new series Big Shot in L.A.
Page 23: Irina Shayk and her daughter Lea De Seine walked hand in hand around NYC, friendly exes Sara Gilbert and Linda Perry take a stroll in L.A., Law and Order: SVU stars Mariska Hargitay and Ice-T snapped a photo together in between takes
Page 26: Inside My Home -- Sam and Aaron Taylor-Johnson's designer digs
Page 28: Home Town stars Ben and Erin Napier recently announced they're getting ready to welcome their second child, a girl, and the famously private pair, who chose to keep the news a secret to avoid any extra unwanted attention or stress, could not be more excited -- this baby is a miracle because Erin was told years ago that pregnancy would be unlikely due to a past health issue and when their first daughter Helen arrived, they were overjoyed, and they never imagined they'd be blessed with a second -- with Erin's due date just around the corner, she and Ben are busy prepping Helen to become a big sis and they have no doubt she'll be wonderful because she's very warm and empathetic toward others and she loves to hug so the baby will be extremely loved -- after the newborn's arrival, the busy HGTV stars will take some much-needed time off and they're a team, and Ben plans to be there to support Erin and make sure she gets her needed rest, but they both love what they do, so it won't be long before they're back in front of the cameras -- while baby No. 3 chatter has already begun, the college sweethearts aren't getting ahead of themselves and Ben and Erin always dreamed of having a big family, and if they can, there will be more children, but if it doesn't happen, then they will be quite content as a foursome
Page 29: Kacey Musgraves is head over heels for her new boyfriend Gerald Onuoha, but friends are worried that she may be rushing the romance -- Kacey, who hooked up with the Nashville-based doctor after calling it quits on her three-year marriage to Ruston Kelly in July, tends to jump into things with her heart and this relationship falls into that category and Kacey, who was spotted snuggling up to her physician beau while out and about in L.A., is on cloud nine with this guy, but when she has to hit the road again it's not like he can pull up stakes and follow her -- she's not thinking straight about the future, and her friends are bracing for trouble once reality sinks in and Kacey would be wise to slow things down and not get ahead of herself
* George Clooney turned the big 6-0 on May 6, and his wife Amal Clooney is being a bit of a birthday buzzkill -- George wants a big, booze-soaked sky's-the-limit bash in an exotic locale like Mexico or Italy with his old drinking buddies like Rande Gerber, but Amal is pushing for a quiet family celebration at home with their children Alexander and Ella, and it's led to a few arguments -- George figures it's his chance to finally let off steam and that it's his choice on how to mark the milestone occasion and he wants Amal and the other wives to come and join in on the fun, but watching George get wasted certainly isn't her idea of a good time and she sees nothing wrong with a dinner at home
Page 30: Harrison Ford is finally set to start filming the new Indiana Jones movie this summer, and his wife Calista Flockhart will be keeping a close eye to make sure he stays safe on the set -- Harrison has been training hard to get in shape and is feeling great, but at his age, you can understand why Calista is concerned and protective Calista plans to accompany Harrison as he shoots the fifth Indiana Jones installment in London and other locales and he's still capable of doing his own stunts, and a lot of it is thanks to Calista, who made sure he stayed fit with weight training and proper nutrition, but Harrison's going to have the best people in the business looking out for him so he doesn't get hurt again, otherwise Calista wouldn't have given him the green light
* It's barely been three months since Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker went public with their hot and heavy romance, and they're already talking about getting engaged and pregnant, not necessarily in that order and Kourtney fully believes this isn't just a honeymoon phase, but that Travis is the man she's going to share her dreams with -- as for Travis, he's been telling everyone he's hit the jackpot with Kourtney and Travis, who has two kids of his own, has already started shopping for rings and he's planning an ultra-romantic proposal because he's big on grand gestures and he's still looking for the perfect ring, but that doesn't mean the baby-making has to wait until it's on her finger
* Love Bites -- Zac Efron and Vanessa Valladares split, Brooks Laich and CrossFit athlete Katrin Davidsdottir dating, Tan France and husband Rob are having a baby this summer
Page 32: Cover Story -- Kim Kardashian single and loving it -- ready to mingle, an unattached Kim is having fun exploring her dating options -- she did all she could with Kanye West and now she needs to steer a new course for herself -- she's been relishing her single status and feels like she can finally breathe again -- Kim may be living it up, but her four children remain her primary focus -- the eligible bachelors who've caught Kim's eye: Drake, Rege-Jean Page, Brad Pitt, Lewis Hamilton
Page 35: Jennifer Aniston's on such good terms with her old flames she still talks to ex-husbands Brad Pitt and Justin Theroux regularly and has even stayed in touch with her former beau John Mayer -- Jen and Brad have a lot of complicated history, but she's glad they reconnected and are friends again and she thinks the world of Brad, and they support each other -- Justin recently revealed he and Jen text and FaceTime, and the divorced duo will always share a special bond -- although she and John split in 2009, Jen and the musician still hang out from time to time and they flirt here and there and when John's in town, Jen's down to meet him -- but friends are urging the star to finally and firmly move on from her exes and they think she needs a fresh start, and Jen's been on a few dates with someone who isn't famous and Jen's not looking to get married again, but she'd like to have a partner to share her life with and this guy could be the one, she's just got to give the relationship a fair chance, without any distractions
* Weeks after announcing she'd called it quits with Alex Rodriguez, Jennifer Lopez is feeling sad and disappointed and she didn't want to believe the rumors about Alex's wandering eye, but the Madison LeCroy thing was the last straw -- it's not the first time Jennifer's been fooled by a bad boy as cheating rumors plagued her romances with Sean "Diddy" Combs and Casper Smart and she's wiser now -- Jennifer's saving grace is she's got a jam-packed schedule so it won't leave too much time to be broken-hearted and she's a busy mom of two with a million projects up in the air so don't expect her to be dwelling on the past for too long

EAC celebrates the Outstanding Achievements of 20 Local Professional Artists
Tumblr media
The Edmonton Arts Council, City of Edmonton and Edmonton Community Foundation are pleased to announce the 2020 recipients of the Edmonton Artists’ Trust Fund awards.
“We are delighted to celebrate 20 remarkable local artists that call the Edmonton region home” said Sanjay Shahani, Executive Director of the Edmonton Arts Council. “These artists excel in their disciplines and are constantly working to broaden and promote the Edmonton arts community. The recipients help make Edmonton a vibrant and engaging city, alive with arts and culture.”
“Congratulations to this year’s recipients,” said Martin Garber-Conrad, CEO of Edmonton Community Foundation. “We look forward to watching these artists’ careers grow as they continue shaping our city.”
The Edmonton Artists' Trust Fund (EATF) recognizes an artist’s work and contribution to the community. The $15,000 awards provide financial stability for artists to renew, develop, create or experiment. These awards are supported by the proceeds from the Edmonton Artists’ Trust Fund, held by the Edmonton Community Foundation. In 2017 the Eldon and Anne Foote family fund began making contributions directly, to allow for an increased value and number of awards. This stands now at $120,000 annually, committed through 2021. In addition, in the fall of 2020 an anonymous, private donation of $100,000 was received via the Edmonton Community Foundation to invest directly in artists though the EATF process.

WARNER BROS. HOME ENTERTAINMENT
AND DC PRESENT
BATMAN BEYOND:
THE COMPLETE SERIES
LIMITED EDITION
SERIES’ FIRST-EVER BLU-RAY PRESENTATION
COMING OCTOBER 15th, 2019 TO DIGITAL;
AND BLU-RAY™ BOX SET OCTOBER 29th, 2019
BURBANK, CA (July 18, 2019) – Batman Beyond, the landmark animated television series that illuminated the imagination of a new generation of Batman fans with its creation of an altogether new hero, is celebrating its 20th anniversary – and you get the gift! Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has remastered the heralded series for its first-ever presentation on Blu-ray™ in the all-encompassing Batman Beyond: The Complete Animated Series Limited Edition, arriving on Digital ($49.99 SRP USA, $59.99 SRP Canada) starting October 15, 2019 and in a stunning box set ($99.99 SRP USA, $119.99 SRP Canada) on October 29, 2019. Distribution in Canada will be day-and-date with the USA, Pre-orders are now available.
The extraordinary Batman Beyond: The Complete Animated Series Limited Edition package features approximately 1,500 minutes of entertainment spread over four Blu-ray™ discs, plus the two bonus discs of enhanced content. In addition to a newly-remastered Blu-ray presentation of Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker, there are 15 featurettes on the bonus discs, highlighted by two new inside looks at the beloved television series, led by Nostalgic Tomorrow, a gathering of Batman Beyond production talent and cast led by executive producer Bruce Timm and actors Kevin Conroy and Will Friedle, the voices of Batman and Terry McGinnis, respectively. The bonus discs also spotlight four episodes with audio commentary from Timm and select members of the production team.
Collectibles within the stunning packaging include an exclusive chrome Batman BeyondFunko POP, and four beautifully-designed lenticular art cards produced especially forBatman Beyond: The Complete Animated Series Limited Edition. This ultimate collectors Blu-ray box set will be individually numbered for a Limited Edition release of 50,000.
Produced by Warner Bros. Animation,Batman Beyond premiered on January 10, 1999 to instant ratings and critical success. The series would run for three seasons, covering 52 total episodes and a full-length animated film, Batman Beyond: The Return of the Joker. Nominated for nine Emmy Awards, Batman Beyond would ultimately take home two Emmys – including Outstanding Special Class Animated Program in 2001 – as well as three Annie Awards.
Of the 52 original Batman Beyond episodes, 41 have been fully-remastered from either their original 35mm film source or the uncommon format “OCND,” the original camera negative digital (a digital scan of original negative). Lines and resolution have been enhanced, and dust and dirt have been removed – however, cell dirt remains to not disturb the original picture. Included in the remastering was the removal of grain, resulting in enhanced colors. The remastering process does cause a slight aspect ratio change (approximately 3% loss of screen image).
Due to time-worn irreparable damage, the remaining 11 episodes were “Smart Rezzed” from standard definition Digibeta video. The process provides for significant enhanced resolution and improvement of the original source material in converting from standard to high definition, though it does sacrifice horizontal lines for clearer image and color representation. While still a marked improvement over the original video, viewers will notice a slight difference between the Remastered and the Up-Rezzed final footage. The 11 affected episodes are: “Eyewitness,” “Final Cut,” “The Last Resort,” “Armory,” “Sneak Peek,” “The Eggbaby,” “Zeta,” “Plague,” “April Moon,” “Sentries of the Lost Cosmos” and “Speak No Evil.”
The creative team behind the breakthrough animated series was headed by the producing quartet of Bruce Timm, Paul Dini, Alan Burnett and Glen Murakami, alongside executive producer Jean MacCurdy and associate producer Shaun McLaughlin. Shirley Walker composed the award-winning score with the Dynamic Music Partners trio of Lolita Ritmanis, Kristopher Carter and Michael McCuistion, while 8-time Emmy Award winner Andrea Romano guided an impressive collection of actors as casting/dialogue director. Butch Lukic, Dan Riba and Curt Gida directed the majority of episodic animation along with James Tucker, Kyung Won Lim and Yukio Suziki. Primary story editors and writers on the series were Burnett and Dini with Bob Goodman, Rich Fogel, Hilary Bader and Stan Berkowitz.
The Batman Beyond cast was spearheaded by Kevin Conroy, the fan favorite voice of The Dark Knight as established in the landmark Batman: The Animated Series. Will Friedle (Boy Meets World, Kim Possible) created the character of Terry McGinnis, Batman’s protégé. Veteran voiceover actresses Cree Sumner (Codename: Kids Next Door, Drawn Together) and Lauren Tom (Friends, The Joy Luck Club, Futurama) were series regulars as Max and Dana Tan, respectively.
The guest cast included a healthy collection of film and primetime television stars spanning from Academy Award nominees Paul Winfield, Stockard Channing, William H. Macy, Teri Garr and Michael McKean; Emmy Award winners John Ritter, Wayne Brady, Seth Green, Tim Curry, David Warner and Patton Oswalt; Golden Globe winners Stacy Keach, Amanda Donohoe and Jill Eikenberry; four Grammy Award winners led by Ice-T; and five members of the Hollywood Walk of Fame – Macy and Ritter along with George Takei, Michael Ansara and Mark Hamill. The cast also included legends of the entertainment industry and several young actors heading toward stardom, like Adrienne Barbeau, Kate Jackson, Angie Harmon, Linda Hamilton, Clancy Brown, Gary Cole, Ed Begley Jr., Wendie Malick, Cary Elwes, Olivia Hussey, Kurtwood Smith, Robert Patrick, Ian Ziering, CCH Pounder, Frank Welker, Johnny Galecki, Pauley Perrette, Michael Rosenbaum and Diedrich Bader.
All totaled, the Batman Beyond cast featured actors with laurels totaling five Academy Award nominations, 47 Emmy Awards, 206 Emmy nods, four Gold Globe Awards, 45 Golden Globe nominations, three Grammy Awards and nine nominations, and five actors forever enshrined with stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
“Batman Beyond elevated the animated adventures of The Dark Knight to even greater heights, providing an edgier, faster-moving, more contemporary take on crime-fighting in Gotham with an inspiring new character in Terry McGinnis,” said Mary Ellen Thomas, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Vice President, Family & Animation Marketing. “Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has long known the fans’ desire to see this series come to Blu-ray, and we’re excited to finally have the technology to elevate the quality of the original assets to an exquisite high-definition presentation packaged with compelling collectibles in a limited edition set, especially as fans celebrate Batman’s 80th anniversary this year.”

My experience with Cancer.
My mind lives setbacks whenever I read that someone I know is in the fight against cancer. Since @taylorswift told that Andrea is giving his fight for the second time I have read many of his stories with the disease. I have read that they are afraid and would like to tell you that everything is easy but not. I started going through this 4 years ago and the counter goes 50% and 50%: I have lost two people and two have been saved.
Fight against cancer. I wish the word "fight" was how we understand it in the real world because here fighting means that two people can face each other, in the case of cancer it’s a silent enemy that runs through your body and your only weapon is the early detection of the disease, your ability to access medical attention, your faith, hope and desire to hold on to life.
In my experience I learned that the real battle is with yourself. When my grandfather died I was 18 years old and that was the first time I witnessed the battle of a person against himself.
Cancer, made that traveler old man of free spirit a prisoner of the bed. And little by little as the disease progressed I saw him fight for wanting to stay alive, fight for accepting that he was in that situation, fight not to give up or let go. I saw him also fight with others: shouting for us to leave him alone and 5 minutes later screaming for us to come back. He saw me praying and denied God but in his desperation he also prayed, just in case that god  (he never believed) could hear him.
He fought with himself to not give up even when he was out of strength even  when the doctors told us there was nothing else to do.
Cancer emotionally affects everyone around that loved one because it reminds you of everything you have and everything you can lose. My grandfather was the first to leave me. At first I prayed every second so he would recover and the miracle would happen. But after seeing him agonize for 9 long days, I prayed that God would take him away so he will be able to rest. He was suffering, it was hurting and he deserved a break.
After this there was a lot of pain in my family. It was a very traumatic experience for all of us who stayed.  I felt a lot of regret and thought about all the time I didn’t spend with him.
Music also became part of my mourning process. One of the many days while we were waiting for the worst news, I remember sitting in the waiting room and "God bless the broken road" by Rascal Flatts started. That song still touches every fiber of my body because to hear it’s like go back to those days of autumn where the leaves fell in my hair while I was sitting without knowing what to do. I decided for my mental health to stop listening to her.
My aunt and my grandmother were diagnosed 3 and 5 months after the death of my grandfather. My aunt's cancer had a good prognosis and after the surgery and radiotherapy the disease was controlled. In contrast, my grandmother had aggressive stomach cancer. I lowered my head assuming I had lost the war again and sank to the thought that I was about to lose a woman who has played a tracendental role in my life. I took her hand during the whole process and I was there after the surgery and guys, I can tell you that I never felt more fear in my whole life. Against all odds have passed 3 years and my grandmother is cancer-free, 81 years and counting.
There are many tremendously painful details of when my grandfather died and many shadows that surrounded me on nights of wondering how it was possible that this was happening to me. It's not about me, it's about them and all this taught me lessons. The only thing I can tell you is that if you start going through this you will feel pity, anger and fear. But my point is that I want you to know that you will survive, the time will pass and yes, you will continue to miss, remembering but the overwhelming grief will transform into nostalgia and life will continue. My advice is listen to the people you love, tell them you love them, have the time to see them, talk, know and ask. In gray times, patience is the key to survival.  Fucking cancer is a disease that eclipses even the most noble heart but you have to keep standing. The best advice my grandmother gave me in life was: Never leave the house or go to bed without saying goodbye. Even if you are angry because you don’t what can happen, everything can chan. Life is fragile and if something happens make sure that those who love it know. I want to send a hug full of energy to each person who has or has gone through this. We can fight for our hearts to continue standing. With love. With love. With patience. But above all, with love.
