How I'm Only Me When I'm With You was written (as narrated by Bob Orrall)
She had a deal at RCA. Her A&R person was Leslie Roberts who just believed in her 100%. She had talked to me about writing with her, I was kinda familiar with her. One morning I got a call from my friend Angelo [Petraglia], who I had known since 1977. He called me up in a panic because he had this thirteen-year-old girl coming over and he had to write a song with her. He was like "Dude, you gotta come over and help me, I got this thirteen-year-old girl coming over, what are we going to write about?". I asked "Who is she?" "Taylor Swift" "Ooh, I know her, she's with RCA. Ok, I'm coming". The first song we wrote together was I'm Only Me When I'm With You. She said "I want to write something like Avril Lavigne but country". We got stuck in a line and Angelo hadn't thrown out any lyrics yet. He threw out these two lines, she looked at him and said "I'm not sure my demographic would say something like that". Shot down by the thirteen-year-old. When I turned I'm Only Me When I'm With You to RCA Records, when she was still signed, the actual recording that is now on a 11-million selling record, they went: "It's too pop, I don't think people go for that". And I'm like "Noo, it's perfect". So they never owned it, we just took it back and it ended up being on the first record, without being even remixed, it's exactly what I slid across the desk to the A&R folks at RCA.

The Black Keys' eleventh studio album, Dropout Boogie, is due May 13, on Nonesuch; you can pre-order now here. As they've done their entire career, The Black Keys' Dan Auerbach and Patrick Carney wrote all of the material for Dropout Boogie in the studio, and the album captures a number of first takes that hark back to the stripped-down blues rock of their early days making music together in Akron, Ohio, basements. After hashing out initial ideas at Auerbach’s Easy Eye Sound studio in Nashville, the duo welcomed new collaborators Billy F. Gibbons, Greg Cartwright, and Angelo Petraglia to the sessions, marking the first time they've invited multiple new contributors to work simultaneously on one of their own albums.

Lyraってやっぱ変態?

Many groups tend to destroy themselves thanks to the fame they gain too quickly, which can be seen in their music then. I mean, I'm not surprised Kings Of Leon were close to their destruction, because their music follows the archetype of what rock supposes to be. I hear a lot of influences in their sound, though they put their own swagger – the latter might be a quality many modern musicians understand as the secret ingredient to reach their idols, but I digress – and they do the idiom that tries to be dangerous. This might be my problem with them, i.e. they are a facsimile, which shouldn't be seen as a bad thing. However, they don't play with the notion, you notice they consider themselves to be the real deal. To be honest, many of their peers are similar in their line of thinking.

75. A Place In This World
Written by Taylor, Robert Ellis Orrall, and Angelo Petraglia, this song is simple. Sweet. To the point. Very much a song about being 15/16 and not knowing what the future holds. This song makes me happy-sad, which is how I know it’s a Taylor Swift Song.
Cringe Lyric: That “oh yeah” after “tomorrow’s just a mystery”
Best Lyric: “Don’t know what’s down this road/ I’m just walking”

bulletin: via Stereogum: In May of 2021, the Black Keys released their country-blues covers album, Delta Kream. Now, hardly a year later, Patrick Carney and Dan Auerbach are coming back with their 11th studio album, Dropout Boogie, out in May (one day before the 20th anniversary of the band’s debut album, The Big Come Up). Along with the news is lead single and album opener “Wild Child,” which features Reigning Sound’s Greg Cartwright and Kings Of Leon’s Angelo Petraglia.

Amazing, amazing, amazing talent. Met her when she was just 13. Someone asked me this question the other day... The first song we ever wrote was called "I'm Only Me When I'm With You". And we wrote it with a friend of mine named Angelo [Petraglia], who is actually the producer/co-producer and has produced every Kings Of Leon record since the very first one. But we wrote the song and she was so... different. And so confident and so just unlike any kid I'd ever met that age, and you know - you work with a lot of teenagers when you're writing songs. And I said, 'You're gonna sell 3 million copies of your first record,' and Angelo backed me up on the story... but I was off by 5 million! Cause she sold 8 million copies of her first record.

hi! i wanted to ask you why you have invisible written in 2004 if the date of creation is listed as 2002 on the us copyright office?
I think that's it's a wrong date, the song was written with Bob Orrall and he met Taylor in late 2003, when Taylor was paired up with Angelo Petraglia and he called Bob for reinforcement. Orrall also has "Swiftie since 2003" as his bio on insta

Imelda May - Black Tears
Imelda May - Black Tears @imeldaofficial
‘Black Tears’ the second single to be released from Imelda May‘s new album ‘Life. Love. Flesh. Blood’, out 7th April 2017, debuted last week, with a black and white video shot at the iconic Maida Vale Studios, London. Giving a gentle nod to Patsy Cline‘s ‘Crazy’, the somber and tearful ‘Black Tears’ full of woe gives listeners a glimpse at the troubled journey Imelda’s been through since her last…

So today producer Robert Ellis Orrall posted some really cool pictures to his Instagram account. On this day fifteen years ago, he, Angelo Petraglia, Jamie Tate, and Taylor Swift recorded two songs that would end up on Taylor’s debut album (and one that wouldn’t). To celebrate, Orrall posted Taylor’s handwritten lyrics for several of them. He also mentioned that the version of “I’m Only Me When I’m With You” recorded and mixed that day is the same that is on the album, which means the “demo” going around is almost assuredly fake. Also, note that “A Place In This World” includes the line “got my pink shirt on” which was changed to “got the radio on” in the final version. If you want to hear that demo version, I posted it a little while ago. And for anyone wondering, What Do You Say has leaked. Robert’s original description, in case the original post gets lost to the ether:
“A Place In This World” is one of three songs cut with Taylor Swift on this day in 2004 at Abtrax Studio in Nashville. Co-produced by @maestrofuzz_angeloand engineered by Jamie Tate now at @rukkusroom, this demo of “I’m Only Me (When I’m With You)” landed on the deluxe edition of Taylor’s debut, without being so much as remixed, a testament to Jamie’s mixing genius, as it was one of four he mixed the same day. “A Place In Thus World” (Orrall/Swift/Angelo) “I’m Only Me (When I’m With You) (Orrall/Swift/Angelo) “What Do You Say” (Orrall/Swift/Angelo) Produced by Angelo and Robert Ellis Orrall
