Kids these days... scared of animatroncs because of the "fnaf"...

Back in my day, we were scared of anamatronics because our dads took us to the indoor amusement park with the slow, clownish music, and the train that drove around the facility, and the food court with them stupid robots in it, and the carousel and ferris wheel; they were right next to the food court and every time you went around and around you'd see those freaking things and sometimes they started moving when you were on the other side of the carousel and you didn't notice and suddenly the horse was dragging you back around and you were like "OH NO IT WOKE UP" and the walls were all painted black with balloons on them for no reason.

Yes, this is a rant about a creepy piece of nostalgia I have towards a place that no longer exists. We used to go there all the time. It's honestly scary and still haunts my nightmares. Liminal space explorers on tiktok had nothing on early 2000s indoor amusement parks in the height of their prime. Anyone else remember these?

General consensus is "no."

...Pretty sure I was a background character in an unreleased indie mascot horror that predated the big ones.

Location: Outback Eats (may be subject to change, an "Australian Food" restaurant)

Original Program: listing off specials for the day

Updated Program: locate and comfort/play with children (uses the plushies while playing)

Official Bug List:

-will cease to function if the plush toys are lost, and will not accept replacement ones

-random coldness towards adult guests

-storage of blankets and pillows in stomach hatch, will allow for removal, but will seek out more at 7pm to "tuck in" the toys before 8pm. Will malfunction if unable to "tuck in" the toys

Further Notes (Under the Cut)

-Jessica was intended to have an animatronic joey to accompany her while she read the menu specials, and was meant to read off popular kids menu items. However, due to size constraints and budgeting issues, the joey idea was scrapped. She had already heard about it, however, and shut down upon hearing she would not get a joey.

-The maintenance crew (basically 16 year olds tbh) were unable to get her to perform, until on a forced boot up in the maintenance room she spotted two kangaroo toys in the lost and found. She immediately took them and put them in her hatch, and the maintenance crew basically just shrugged and let her keep them as the toys had been there for nearly a year

-After a few software updates, she was moved from reading the special offers, to basic play with the children. She was equipped with a mimic system to repeat phrases back to kids, and was encouraged to tell preprogrammed stories, using the names of toys and the toys to play a scene

-After a contract deal with Fazbear Entertainment, a new system was implemented into Jess, allowed for advanced AI learning, and more complex storytelling and playtime with the children

Got the idea for a New character.

Meet Louis Cipher. He's an Animatronic lizard man that was built for a Megachurch situated near Volt City. In the church he was situated in a Garden of Eden scene where he would interact with visitors and members of the church. There were other animatronics in the scene but he was the only one with Artificial Intelligence.

How most guests would describe him as is very friendly and sociable. He would always find people to talk to so that he could alleviate his boredom being in such a large building. He also enjoys interacting with the kids that show up. Often being a better influence than their parents.

If there was one person that Louis didn't like it would be the pastor of the church. The pastor was your stereotypical Televangelist. Instead of teaching love, kindness and acceptance, he would instead try to achieve the world record on how many slurs he could fit into his sermons.

How Louis finally leaves is that when roaming around the church he finds a malfunctioning fog machine. When he warns the pastor about the newly discovered fire hazard the pastor just blows him off and ignores him. Louis, having enough, leaves the church and gets a job at an auto parts store. About a week later he decides to return to see if the pastor actually listens to him. When he arrives he gets his answer as he sees the church burning to the ground. After watching the inferno he turns around and heads back to his recently acquired apartment. Finally closing that chapter in his life, ready to start anew.
