I posted two polls yesterday, asking who is your favorite potential love interest for Dean besides Cas and vice versa. I’ve tallied the votes for both polls and reblogged them with the results and some commentary but I thought it’d be nice to gather them in one post, plus some extra thoughts from me below the cut.

Potential love interests for Dean:

Benny (116). And yes, correct.

Cassie (77). Also correct. A few of you pointed out that Dean should have gone to her in season six instead of Lisa and are you wrong?

Victor (34). Tbh I wasn’t expecting Victor in the top three but I am very happy with all of you!

No one (28). Very Cas coded of you, very sexy.

Crowley (25). This is the one I feel like the character in question would be the most upset about. Only number 5??

Bela (13). I’d also like to interject that demon!Dean/demon!Bela should have happened.

Lee (8). Good for him, I guess.

Jo (5). I don’t know if I’m surprised by Jo’s ranking or not.

Donna (4). This one had a lot of support when her first episode aired, if I remember correctly.

Tessa (3). Good for her, I guess.

The rest got either one or two votes. With two we’ve got: Aaron (surprised he didn’t get more), Anna, Ash, Cain (very disappointed he didn’t get more), Deacon, Garth, Ketch (uhhh), Rhonda Hurley.

One vote: Balthazar, Daphne (lowkey feel like the two people who picked them read the question wrong), Donnie, Lisa (I also don’t know whether to be surprised by this ranking or not. On the one hand she’s Dean’s longest running textual love interest. On the other, they kinda forgot to give her a personality beyond ‘love interest’ and ‘mother’), Lydia (????), Me (lmao), Michael, Mick (also ???), Robin, Ronald (ngl I had to look him up), Sam (😶), Sarah Blake (this voter did admit they might be projecting) The Impala if it turned into a guy (this one might have the most canon support), That one hot desk officer from season 1 you know the one I mean (I don’t).

Potential love interests for Cas:

No one (33). I was expecting this option to be high up but not number one! Quite a few people specified he should be a single parent but what I really appreciate are the few of you who wrote dissertations in the tags on why this makes sense for Cas’ character.

Meg (26). Correct and very sexy.

Mick (25). I’ve seen like one episode with Mick so idgi but good for him!

Balthazar (6). Thought he’d get way more votes?? Idk might be my bias speaking.

Sam (6). Love the one of you who specified that Cas should not like him back.

Luca (4). Okay so there is a canon character named Luca who is a priest but I’m pretty sure y’all mean the Luca from In the Shadow of your Wings by ao3 user Enochian Things, who is also a priest (esp since a couple of you did say he’s not a canon character) and who actually meets Cas.

Benny (3). It should be noted that two out of three of you wanted to include Dean in this ship.

Crowley (3). Just as with Dean’s list, he’d be very insulted by placing so low.

Hannah (3). Hannah got three votes, two specifying in a male vessel and one just specifying “trans”.

Kelly (3). Makes sense, as she is the mother of his child and they have a friendly relationship. Also makes sense this didn’t get more votes since they have no chemistry and she is a republican.

These all got two votes: Djinn queen, Me, Pastor Sexy.

And now, a special category of those with one vote from people I’m pretty sure read the question wrong: Cassie, Lisa, Ash, Victor.

Another special category of Dean alternates who got one vote but don’t count because they’re still Dean: AU Dean, Amnesia Dean, Dean Smith.

And the rest all got one vote: Dabb-era OC, Hypothetical guy from centuries ago (from one of those times Cas’ mind got wiped), Jesus Christ (asdjifsdkl), Miguel from The Love Story of the Runner-Up by ao3 user Margo_Kim, Sergei (???), That angel dude who wanted him for his hands (okay who and what episode).

Okay so what jumped out to me immediately was “no one” topping Cas’ list (it placed pretty high on Dean’s list but Benny, Cassie and Victor still beat that option handily).

A lot of people straight up did not like the thought of Cas with someone else (very Dean coded of them) but a lot of others just couldn’t picture it. Which I think can be attributed to none of Cas’ relationships with others being all that developed on the show, besides with Jack which is obviously not romantic. Tbh there aren’t a lot of deeply developed relationships on Supernatural that don’t include Sam or Dean (and lbr, mostly Dean).

People were also explaining their choices a lot more in the Cas poll. Idk what that means but I just thought it was interesting. There also wasn’t a consensus on Cas’ sexuality; while Meg and other female characters got votes a lot of other voters said they see him as gay and can’t picture him with a woman.

Most delightfully surprising result: Cassie taking second place! Honestly, it’s what she deserves. And Victor in third! The taste!

Most expected result: Benny winning the Dean poll in a landslide.

Most surprising low placement: Balthazar only getting six votes in Cas’ poll. I thought this ship was more popular but that’s probably my bias speaking since I happen to like it.

Funniest vote: Those three of you who wanna shoot your shot with Dean/Cas. Go for it, I’m rooting for you!

Favorite specification on a vote: “Meg in a deeply lavender marriage way”

hbo spn storylines, drabbles, ideas, thoughts, wishlist, whatever you may call it. it’s messy, nothing makes sense and pretty sure a lot of these contradict each other

more of sam at stanford with jessica/flashbacks. jessica potentially lives but is revealed to be a demon (but she developed actual feelings for sam and really did come to care for him because a demon falling in love with a human would be SO interesting) OR she lives but her memory gets wiped like dean did to lisa OR she dies like she did but she is a ghost that haunts sam (he welcomes it but eventually he lets her go -> character arc). he still dreams about her though and he has her keepsakes with him wherever he goes, her rings, her favourite book, anything that was left of her from the fire

you have to be extremely careful when making deals with demons because they are cunning and evil creatures. they will follow the rules of the deal but will find loopholes to put some sadistic twist on the terms. you want money? of course, too bad you’ll be arrested for fraud before you can use any of it and spend the next ten years in jail before i drag you to hell. you want a perfect husband? sure he’ll love you. in fact, he’ll love you so much he’ll keep you locked up in the basement to keep you safe etc etc. saving a person often becomes the person that causes or leads to your death.

the creation of jack: after s5, when lucifer is trapped in the cage again lucifer fuses his own soul with a human soul to create jack, who escapes to earth to find sam and castiel. i have a longer post about this saved in my drafts

lucifer is trapped for good in the cage after s5 but if he was to return again, dean would kill him while sam would kill michael - this would be nice parallels and a sort of fulfillment of the “one brother must kill the other” prophecy because one brother DO kill another brother, just not their own

more azazel and how he came to the plan of how to free lucifer; opening a hell gate earlier, more experimentations with the demon blood etc

mary was infected with the blood when she was a baby, sam is the first and only second generation special child (longer post about that here)

personally, i want to see more and know more about john and mary’s relationship. when mary died, john and mary had fulfilled their destiny (having sam and dean) so does that mean that his love and dedication to mary post her death was falsely fabricated by the angels to ensure sam and dean would grow up in ideal conditions to become hunters? or maybe, after mary’s death, john wakes up from the spell with two kids he doesn’t recognize and a wife he thinks he loved, but the memories of the past years of his life are like a fever dream; he never wanted to live in a town like this nor was he interested in having kids? but here the house is, and here are his kids, but now he’s alone and empty and with no answers. (idk i just find john and mary and their relationship very fascinating) if the latter, if john and mary see each other again it’s like the spell activates again and they become blindly in love with each other, but once gone, they return to their confused and hazey state of mind, like just woken up from a coma

i do like mary coming back but i love how in s5 when she wasn’t found in heaven it was hinted that she was just discarded because she had fulfilled her “purpose” and i think this adds to the whole notion of how heaven and angels can be really cruel AND how mary is this mythical, religious figure to both sam and dean and we only get to know her through their lenses, like religion and faith

ruby is present for a longer amount of time to make the reveal even more shocking. at one point or another, dean does actually trust her and they all work together on cases for a while. ruby’s backstory as a witch is more explored. i like her death in s4 because she’s in this total state of euphoria and has achieved a goal only she was entrusted with, and she is so convinced sam will understand, until sam holds her down while dean carves her heart out. so we either keep that or she serves lucifer for a while (until he kills her which she is happy about because of her blind loyalty to him, could again mirror dean and john/castiel and heaven) or she serves lucifer and like crowley she realizes lucifer will kill demons after humans (redemption arc, but i don’t really like that, let her be evil!!)

dean and sam helps bela out of her deal and she becomes their go-to person when they need a magic item or book. she doesn’t like it but she owes them. regularly hooks up with jo.

angels are really hollow soldiers - they only follow orders and don’t understand the concept free will or choice or individuality at all. they are extremely righteous and strike without warning often on a whim, often very bloody (explosions a la castiel in swan song). if something fall into what they consider justice they will kill it. no concept of love, attraction or gender. real form can’t be perceived by humans unless they want them to, which leads to eyes melting (pamela) or breaking a person’s mind (in 5.16 zachariah actually says that sam and dean sees him in his vessel bc they’re ‘limited’. so.)

castiel, anna, maybe uriel and some others are exceptions to this, but only becomes so after longer exposure to human’s world. even then, they don’t change their violent whims, just the reasoning and where their loyalty lies

hbo spn is s1-5 stretched out for 8-10 seasons with the aesthetics of s1-2. i’m cutting out demon dean, purgatory, the mark of cain, the men of letters, the alphas, leviathatan, god being the real villain all along and the other worlds because it was just too much and far remived from the roadtrip aesthetic. keeping kevin, charlie (she is introduced via ash bc they’re hacker friends), the trials, rowena, uuuh the angels falling is such an interesting concept but idk if it would fit. maybe metatron? but his motivations are different. soullessness + the concept of souls might be kept if it’s explained better. i’m torn on whether or not to include the campbells

hell, heaven and purgatory are explained but only seen in glimpses, keep these ideas ambiguous and up to interpretation outside of what we hear. remember the line ‘hell is...well, it’s like hell. even for demons’? leave it at that. the exception is 5.16 bc that episode fucks so hard

if we end on swan song and let the show be the tragedy it is, i want to keep the ambiguous ending. is that sam or lucifer? if it’s sam, will he contact dean or walk away? we will never know! there is also no ‘the world is ending’ more than once, it really lost its impact after the second or third time.

idk how i feel about the men of letters - it is logical that there would be organized hunting and an established network and system on how to do things, but for the sake of keeping it hbo-style and grounded, there are no networks beyond the roadhouse and singer’s salvage yard.

i want sam and dean not have a permanent home except the impala, motels and impala ONLY. the bunker had potential but it was just for the sake of convenience it was there with all the lore and answers they needed when it was necessary. maybe eventually they do stop travelling so much when it becomes more about the Big Stuff instead of the episodic cases that requires driving all the time but it will be like an abandoned house in the middle of nowhere. i want sam and dean to never have a physical house as a home but they scrape together whatever they have make something similar to a show

as the show progresses, sam and dean become pretty hated by other hunters because they’ve started apocalypse and have an increasingly shitty reputation. and john was an infamous good hunter but also a dick. everybody knows that people who work with the winchesters often end up dead, that one brother will sacrifice anything and anyone to save the other and that they frequently work alongside demons. even the ones they DO work with (jo, ellen, bobby, rufus, bela) are hesitant to be involved with them

sam’s powers are strong but after killing lilith and the truth revealed to him, he represses the powers in shock and fear of how blinded he was by them and the rush of power they gave him. a little more about how sam fears what the lust for power and strength did to him. he continues to repress his powers, often to a dangerous point where he will be on death’s door as a result of not using them. when meeting jack and mentoring him in using his powers, jack asks him about sam’s powers after sensing them. sam eventually decides to lead by example and embraces his powers again, but remains extremely careful about using them (this also fulfills dean’s arc of having to let go of the holy-innocent-pure-ideal-not a person but an idealized version of sam-little brother sam he has put on a pedestal for so long)

bobby is viewed as a father figure by sam and dean but bobby makes it clear he doesn’t want that burden or relationship in his life after his wife died. he makes this clear to them too, but sam and dean have fucked up perceptions of parental figures so they don’t think bobby means it (they just latch on to whatever parental figures they can find)

we see more of sam’s relationship with the side characters; sam and jo hunt together on occasion, he hangs out with ash and talks hacking when visiting the roadhouse. he and ellen loves playing poker together. if anything, dean is the one who’s isolated - he only ever really cared about mary, john, sam and cassie, and never really had any friends. sam is way more well adjusted and sociable after spending time at stanford where he’s had conversations that didn’t only revolve around dead bodies and lore.

this could also feed into dean’s extreme abandonment issues and isolation he feels and how this would affect his psyche

sam and dean are both unknowingly prepared to become the perfect vessels; sam loses his humanity by becoming more and more like lucifer (defying his father and his will) while dean becomes prepared by doing what michael did; casting his brother away in his time of need (blindly following his father and his will). very much like in s4 but even more intense and brutal (i love angst :))

we see different hybrids; demon/human (antichrist), human/(arch)angel (nephilim) and demon/angel (???), but none of them are all powerful bc narratively that’s really boring. they’re strong but have very specific powers that affects them and/or their surroundings in catastrophic ways (but no other worlds bs, we stick to the road trip aesthetic, keep it grounded). i want the only all powerful character to be god but he doesn’t show up at all, he’s the ultimate absent father. is it chuck? we never find out!

powers would for example include giving people diseases, force anyone close to them to tell the truth (not consciously, it’s just the air around them), read minds, create storms, light things on fire when they’re angry, make people hallucinate etc. like fucked up shit but not things that are too grande because again - that’s really boring

abbadon, the princes of hell and the four horsemen are more fleshed out villains instead of the one season reign the each had.

being a prince of hell is a title that is inherited - after azazel dies, sam gets the title because he is the one with azazel’s blood in him OR meg does, but idk if that would be as interesting (if she actually was his daughter)

it remains a horror show throughout, lots of gore and blood

the moral code and ethics of the brothers are the opposite of the beginning; dean thinks in black and white, sam sees shades of grey and individuals instead of what they are. however, as the show progresses, their train of thought becomes opposites; dean becomes more open to how people are true evil and how monsters are often victims of their circumstance while sam becomes harsher and less forgiving after ruby’s betrayal along with finding out the truth of his existence and how there’s been demons around his entire life. eventually they’re on the same page and they see the circumstances.

on the other hand; i also really fuck with the idea of dean maintaining his black and white morals on that all monsters=inherently evil, humans=inherently pure and good, but he is the only human on team free will. sam is half demon, castiel is an angel, jack is a nephilim, rowena is a witch, garth is a werewolf, mary is a zombie etc

demons become demons in hell by agreeing to become the torturer and thus giving up their humanity to be free of pain, does that mean they could become humans again by regaining some humanity? by doing good deeds? (potentially this is confirmed with jessica and how she came to love sam; genuine love and care for a human could reverse the demon process?) this also means dean was a demon in hell but was purified/turned back again when castiel raised him. this also plays into dean becoming like michael; in trying to absolve himself from what he did in hell he becomes ruthless, unforgiving and righteous to evil, much like the angels, regardless of his personal connection to a person and what he would consider “evil”

dean and pacifisim: after dean is cured from being a demon/the mark of cain/is made aware of his blind righteousness that he used as an excuse to kill, he becomes firmly determined to reign in his anger and violent tendencies by becoming a pacifist (like sam in s11) as a way to redeem all the blood he’s spilled. of course in his profession and true dean fashion he won’t be able to do it 100% so he decides to only act in self defense, and he only goes batshit violent on the offense when it’s about protecting sam

OR. dean’s self righteousness becomes his own downfall; the belief that all evil must be eradicated, refusal to see the circumstances and the shades of grey is what pushes him to lose his humanity and become a demon and therefore, in a potential ending the ruler of hell, because i think it would such an interesting journey from a to b, that dean starts out human, revels in his holiness, executes and kills in the name of his own holiness in the belief that he’s becoming the ultimate angel, the ultimate hero when it’s doing the opposite. if this happened then sam would take the opposite route; starts as a human, becomes more and more demonic, stops himself and returns to his hopeful and optimistic self, has faith and humility and that is what makes him ascend from abomination to purified and holy (trials).

this could be a perfect 10 season structure as well: s1-5 are when sam and dean start off humans; dean becomes holy and as close to an angel a human can be, while sam drinks the demon blood and almost becomes one to gain the freedom and power he wants, but begins to turn it around to send lucifer back to hell. s6-10 is when dean becomes the unholy and sam becomes the holy even though neither realize because now there’s no grand master plan - this is who they are, who they choose themselves. don’t know how this ould end though; either as normal humans again (but there wouldn’t really be a ”normal” after everything) or they really go off the rails with sam like ruling heaven (not as god though, just as a good and just man) and dean ruling hell. castiel is human and stays on earth with jack.

the gothic americana aesthetic is kept throughout the entire show and is only shot on film

after s5 castiel returns to heaven to help restore order, and he takes charge for a little while, but eventually returns to earth after trying to introduce democracy to angels who didn’t get it. in his place, anna takes over and she rules heaven well (after trying to kill mary when going back in time she isn’t killed by michael, but narrowly escapes and remains in hiding to heal until castiel reaches out and finds her)

when finding out they are The Vessels and will be brought back regardless of what they try, sam and dean explore what this means more. dean throws himself into dangers and to protect others. he is burned, blown up, stabbed, electrocuted, beheaded and eaten, but wakes up the next morning in his bed without a scratch, without any pain and memories of his deaths. he revels in this untouchability. sam kills himself over and over only to be resurrected again and again by lucifer. he remembers the pain and blood.

that being said, while dean is like angel royalty, sam is demon royalty. the demons don’t go after him, they don’t hurt him. some even offer up themselves to be drained of blood, even after lilith’s death. it makes it really difficult to stay clean but he pulls through with dean and castiel actually supporting him. to help sam get through his addiction, dean stops drinking alcohol and they go through their withdrawal together

the angels almost worship dean as the michael sword and have an open disgust towards sam for being lucifer’s vessel - they always answer dean’s prayers and calls for help, they follow his orders if need be and don’t hesitate to heal him if he needs it. sam could pray until his vocal chords bleed or call out for help while holding his guts in his hands; none of the angels would come to his aid. the only one who answers sam’s prayers is lucifer as a voice in sam’s head or a hallucination. sam could call demons to help him out but he refuses

sam isn’t the first hunter to drink demon blood, to try to enhance his own abilities using the supernatural as a means to get there - there are hunters who have altered themselves with parts from werewolves and vampires to become better hunters, like the styne family (the guys from s10), blurring the lines again of what’s good and human vs what is evil and inhumane

if angels can’t find a vessel to volunteer, they will force them to say yes - the how is not important, only that the ‘yes’ is said, whether its meant or not, any verbal yes will do. the angels never sleep and they never eat, which is disturbing to sam and dean who are exhausted all the time and eat scraps whenever they can

castiel, like all other angels, is taught to despise and not care about sam winchester at all, but the more castiel gets to know sam, he becomes fascinated with him, how lucifer’s ultimate vessel, starter of the apocalypse and destroyer of god’s creation can be so kind and gentle, so full of faith, acceptance, optimism and hope. in dean castiel sees a good man, yes, but also a man who’s bloodthirsty, rages, revels in war, resorts all problems with violence, loves conditionally and expects unquestioned loyalty. sam too, has a darkness and bloodthirst in him, but it only comes out in glimpses. castiel thinks it’s funny, how sam turns out to be the opposite of lucifer while dean is so alike michael

ideally if spn knew how to keep some characters alive and stop killing everyone the cast would be like this. this is entirely self-indulging and isn’t really meant to be perceived but i wanted to put it somewhere

1) team free will that lives in the bunker, aka dean, sam, cas, jack, eileen. dean and cas are dating, sam and eileen are dating, they all co-parent jack, who is a nephilim and not god because he’s THREE YEARS OLD FFS, and he just uses his powers in the most random and fun ways but it’s a nightmare for his parents. they hunt sometimes but mostly parent jack and they turned the bunker into this welcoming place for lonely wayward hunters in which they can find a room, food, books about the supernatural, and a little family

2) reccurent characters, live in hell: rowena and crowley. they have family drama all the time and either show up when tfw needs their help because of demon/witch related stuff, or when they had a fight with the others and want to rant to them (crowley rants to deancas and wants to fuck both of them but is not succeeding at all, rowena rants to saileen and does fuck both of them once in a while). they’re jack’s cool uncle and auntie, rowena keeps bringing jack gifts so he loves her

3) less reccurent, also in hell: belphegor, meg and bela (all demons) all just kinda hang out in hell. they try to overthrow the mcleods once in a while, kinda out of principle because they don’t really know what they’d do if they won. crowley hates all of them with a passion, meanwhile rowena pretends she hates them not to upset crowley but she’s actually slept with all of them and is still fucking bela. bela and dean are friends but have a love/hate relationship, meg is cas’s friend who tries to make him break up with dean, and to cas’s great disappointment belphy and jack somehow became friends

4) recurrent angels on earth: anna, gabriel and balthazar, only angels still in touch with cas. whenever he has a fight with the winchesters over petty stuff like leaving the dishes in the sink he goes to see them and they alway try to get him drunk. tfw calls them when they need help with angelic stuff or just kinda wanna hang out. anna and dean ended up being friends and dean rants to anna about cas while she rants to him about jo. it’s funny because dean sees jo as a sister and anna sees cas as a brother so all their conversations about their love lives are laced with an awareness that the other WILL murder them if they hurt their sibling

5) less recurrent, in heaven: all the other angels. anael is leading heaven. cas doesn’t like heaven’s angels, and they don’t like him either, but he does talk to anael once in a while

6) henriksen. it’s very important to me that he’s fine and that he DOESN’T know about the supernatural so he’s just constantly trying to catch the winchesters and there’s at least a couple episodes per season of sam and dean’s shenagrians with the law and more specifically henriksen. dean and henriksen have that relationship in which they’re technically enemies but also like. actually really good friends. like they’re each other’s lawful nemesis but would never let the other die. and also they definitely fucked at some point. crowley Does Not like henriksen because he has what he wishes he had with dean

7) the wayward sisters, obviously. jody and donna (NO LONGER COPS THANK YOU VERY MUCH), claire, patience, kaia, alex. kaia and claire are dating, claire, alex and jack are basically siblings. we see claire and kaia often because they show up at the bunker, and we see the others because tfw often goes to their place to have lunch and hunt monsters

8) amara and chuck. in my version of spn chuck was never the villain and is just s11 chuck. they’re both still the darkness and god, so they’re like, super powerful, but they don’t really do much, they just show up once a season at the bunker to hang out and fix the winchester’s problems (amara) and cause more problems the winchesters have to fix (chuck). dean loves when amara comes over, they rant about their annoying little siblings they actually love, while just. painting each other’s nails or something. (yes i did make dean best friends with all his exes and that’s because his exes are all fun and sexy) sam doesn’t really care about amara. on the other hand when chuck shows up sam wants to ask him a ton of questions while dean HATES him because he eats all their food, leaves his socks everywhere, sings loudly in the shower and keeps watching dean’s porn in the middle of the fucking kitchen. they can’t really kick him out, since, well, he’s god, but dean does try every time

9) the hunting veterans: ellen and ash are still in the roadhouse, we see them once in a while. bobby, rufus and mary are alive and important in the hunting community. yes, rufus and bobby are dating. and you know what? mary and ellen too. mary deserves a gf. yes im a mary apologist fuck y’all

10) my personal favorites, charlie, cassie, garth, jo and kevin. cassie became a hunter and is amazing, she’s good friends with dean and charlie has a massive crush on her. jo is dating anna and they both hunt once in a while and often hang out with the wayward sisters and the roadhouse crew. garth basically has the same relationship with tfw that he has in the show, because honestly his character is one of the few fun cute things they didn’t screw up. charlie and kevin do have their own lives but they spend so much time at the bunker, they’re really close to all of tfw and are unofficial members of tfw too, they have movie nights and have time to be happy and chill as they fucking DESERVED, they’re basically dean and sam’s adopted little siblings and it’s amazing

yall send me the funniest shit i SWEAR to god. i am an adult with a job and you think i clout chase on tumblr. but i do deserve to clout chase because cas stans are objectively correct 🥰

comprehensive list of characters i who’s scenes i dont automatically skip through on netflix. this is definitve. if they aren’t here assume indifference.

in no particular order:

meg!! i know i said in no particular order, but i think she might be my absolute favourite. she’s just so goddamn cool. especially in season one she was so incredibly intriguing, and the twist of introducing us to human meg right as she died was a really interesting touch. i’m also fascinated by the fact that we apparently don’t know her real name? season 5 meg is also super fun, and i’m obsessed with the devotion arc and how it parallels cas. their interactions (bar the romance) are super fun, and i wish we’d got more of the opposites-but-the-same dynamic. i also wish she hadn’t reappeared in season 8, because her ending was t r a s h. the fact that she didn’t get to kill crowley is a crime.

jo: also one of my all time faves. the romance was once again not ideal (just from an age gap + dean’s trauma perspective), but i adored the way she interacted with both boys, and i really wish we’d gotten to see more of her growth into the person she was in season 5. i think “very young female hunter” really could’ve been something interesting to explore, but i also wouldn’t trust any of the spn writers except maybe sera gamble to get it right. either way, i adore jo, and i wish we’d seen more of both her and ellen. the family dynamic as a parallel to the winchesters was great.

anna: what a character. once again, i wish we’d seen more of her, especially her journey from scared human to ruthless runaway commander. i’m also fascinated by her righteousness; it’s almost the last thing you’d expect from a fallen angel, but at the same time, it makes such perfect sense. she can’t not be righteous, she just grew disillusioned with heaven’s idea of righteousness. chef’s kiss.

ruby: special shout out to ruby 1.0 but god i love them both. witch turned demon? iconic. demon who remembers being human and wants to destroy hell? iconic. witch turned demon who played sam so expertly that he didn’t even question her when hell was literally opening at his feet? absolute legend, when will your fave. that reveal shook me to the fucking core when i first watched it, and her reveal speech was i n c r e d i b l e. i just wish we’d seen her and meg interact even once.

bela: and once AGAIN, wish we’d seen more of her!! she was so interesting as a character and as a parallel to dean, and i’m still bitter than she was written out purely because of fan reaction. i’m absolutely obsessed with her backstory, and it’s a goddamn travesty that we never saw her again. still desperately want the au where it was bela instead of crowley in season 5. it would’ve made a lot more sense. ALSO think her and meg could’ve had an iconic romance, but that’s another post.

krissy: my GIRL!! bring her back!!! the fact that she only got two episodes is a goddamn travesty and i’m still living in a fantasy world where she and kevin are best friends.

claire: GOD i have such complex feelings about her. on the one hand: bringing her back was such a stellar choice, and the fact that a devout christian girl who was possessed by an angel and had her life destroyed by heaven turned out to be a lesbian? incredible content, fuck whoever didn’t approve the wayward sisters spinoff. however, i also think claire’s appearances were a bit samey, in that it was an endless loop of “claire is reckless, the winchesters save the day, claire doesn’t learn and is reckless again”. i think some more nuanced growth would’ve been nice, but oh well. i also kinda wish that the og claire from season 4 could’ve come back, just because she still has this kind of delicate, ethereal look about her that i think would’ve added to the character. kathryn does an amazing job though, so no complaints.

CHARLIE!!: robbie turner did so right by us, but this was probably his best move. i miss charlie so much, and i’m still so pissed off that they killed her. the dean/sam/charlie dynamic was just so FUN, and i just wish we could’ve seen more of them (and cas. and kevin. and so on). miss my girl :(

eileen: i’m still so stoked by her. a visibly deaf character being treated with respect on this dumpster fire of a show? can’t believe it tbh. if she doesn’t come back i’m goddamn rioting i love her and sam together so much.

honourable mentions: cassie, that one demon that dean got trapped with in season 3, abaddon (underdeveloped but what a stunner), naomi (same), hannah (double same), mary!!, all of the wayward sisters i can’t Get Into It, missouri, billie, etc etc etc. god this show sucks but they came up with some absolute bangers huh.

Ode to Crappy Exes

Characters: Anna Milton/Ruby, Past Ruby/Lilith, Past Anna Milton/Mary Winchester, Kaia Nieves, Charlie Bradbury, Bela Talbot, Jody Mills Rating: Teen and Up Warnings/Additional Tags: Alternate Universe - Prison, References to Drugs, Past Attempted Murder, Past Unhealthy Relationships, Fluff and Angst, Caring Ruby Summary: Ruby's ex-girlfriend is conspiring against her. That's the only reason why she ends up in Lebannon Minimum Security Prison. She knows how to handle herself in places like this, but what she doesn't know how to handle is the Ice Queen that she's roomed with. She vows to somehow melt Anna Milton's hard exterior. Ruby couldn't say she was happy to be entering Lebannon Minimum Security Prison. She'd been sold out by her ex. Maybe they'd ended on bad terms, but sending her to jail? It was low, even for Lilith.

She'd spent time in juvie as a kid, but it had been nothing like Lebannon. There were electrified fences all around the building, Ruby could hear them humming as the guard walked her forward. A girl with dark curly hair walked beside her, and she looked more nervous than Ruby felt. As they were shoved into the back of the van, Ruby placed a hand on her knee. The girl jumped, but she didn't shy away away from her. They huddled together as the guard locked them in.

"Don't look so nervous," a voice came from the cab. Another woman appeared from the driver's seat, not a guard but a prisoner. She looked too happy to be wearing a prison uniform. "It's not so bad when you get in there."

"I'm not nervous," the young girl beside Ruby lied. Ruby snorted loudly and she didn't even feel guilty. The girl glared at her.

"Look, I'm not saying I'm not nervous but hun..."

The girl couldn't have been any older than eighteen, but the way she pouted made her look like a child. Ruby almost felt sorry for her, but the kid had to have done something to end up in jail. Once they got through the gate, they were all the same. Ruby wasn't going to pretend any different. The girl moved away from Ruby, shuffling to the other side of the bench seat.

The guard opened the door and climbed into the cab, letting the redhead drive them off.

When they got to the prison, they were greeted by more guards. They had to go through the cough and drop routine, Ruby was kinda used to it but the young girl next to her was swallowing back tears. The shower, delousing powder, the medical, it was all humiliating as Hell. The guards probably did it on purpose, laughed about it to themselves later. In the end she was handed a bright orange jumpsuit and shoved into a holding cell.

The girl, Kaia she had learned, was put on the bunk under her. They were the only company each of them had, with the bunk across from them empty. In a few hours, or days, they'd be taken to their cells. Better than that, dinner was in an hour which would make up for the delousing.

"Hey, Kid, you looking forward to food?" Ruby asked. Kaia glared at her. She was nothing but skin and bone, her uniform swamping her.

"I'm not hungry," Kaia mumbled.

"Well, I guess more french fries for me then."

"You really think they're going to serve us french fries?" Kaia snorted. "They don't even give good food to school children, why would they bother feeding us properly." She was pacing around the room, wearing track in the floor. There wasn't much scenery in their little room, but she didn't seem content unless she managed to see all of it.

"You gotta calm yourself," Ruby said. Damn she wouldn't last if she was stressing herself so much. Ruby slipped from her bed on the top bunk so she was stood beside Kaia. The girl seemed hesitant, but leaned into Ruby. "What are you doing here kid?"

"Wrong place, wrong time."

If Ruby's heart didn't break she might not have been human. She knew what cops were like, pinning shit on people who didn't deserve it. Kaia was the poster girl for suspected criminal. She hugged Kaia tight, held her close like her own child.

"Don't worry, I'll look out for you," Ruby promised.

When it was time for dinner, they were escorted to the dining hall. The rest of the inmates were watching them with cat like reflexes, though the seemed curious more than anything. Kaia tugged at her sleeves. Ruby shot back a glare at them all for making Kaia feel uncomfortable, but none of them seemed so bothered. Especially not the perky red head that had driven them in that morning.

"You look a bit lost," she smiled. God she was way too perky. "You wanna sit with us?"

Ruby glanced at who us were, the most mismatched group of girls she'd ever seen. Still, they looked friendly enough and didn't mind Ruby and Kaia joining them. They took a seat at the table.

"I'm Charlie," the redhead grinned. The girl beside her rolled her eyes but still held Charlie's hand tight. "This is Bela, my bitch." Bela tilted her head, Ruby hadn't seen someone look so surprised and offended in her entire life. The pressure at her side increased as Kaia pressed herself closer to her. Charlie and Bela were having some sort of argument, not entirely serious but loud. The other women around the table ignored them both, so it had probably happened more than once.

The dining hall was emptier than Ruby expected. She thought the prison would be overflowing with how many people the cops tried to cram in them, but beside their own table there was one in the back corner that was full and a few other prisoners dotted about. There were so many free seats. Particularly around one woman, another red head but she kept her head down. Ruby couldn't help but stare - there was something about her.

"What you in for?" An older woman asked. Her hair was greying and there were wrinkles around her eyes, but she seemed nice enough. Motherly.

"My ex girlfriend called the cops on me for smuggling drugs," Ruby shrugged. "She didn't mention that it was her operation and I was only doing what she wanted me to, but whatever." She wasn't bitter about Lilith, not at all. Her fingers were twitching and she had to get up and do something.

She said nothing as she stood up and headed for the rec room. Not even Kaia followed her, although she could feel all their eyes on the back of her head.

Even eyes down red head glanced up as Ruby passed.

"Cortese, Nieves, get up."

There was a guy rattling the bars to their cell. He had an obnoxious look on his face, almost smiling as he watched the girls roll out of bed. The sky outside was still dark and the only light around was the fluorescent beam from the corridor. Ruby blinked at the guy, while Kaia hurried to get up.

"It's moving day, gather your things and go."

Neither of them had much to take with them, their commissaries hadn't come through yet so nothing was really theirs. They had the uniforms on their backs, a few spare clothes, nothing more. Ruby doubted Kaia would get anything anyway. It didn't look like the kid had any family. Ruby was lucky that her old friend Sam was enough of a sap to send her through some money. At least she'd have something.

They followed the obnoxious guard down the corridor and to the bunks. He stopped first halting Ruby, then Kaia. Her plimsolls squeaked on the floor as the guard pushed her down the line of beds. Most of the other girls were still asleep, but a few woke up when they heard Kaia.

"Welcome to the ghetto, Nieves," the guard grinned. Ruby started following her, but Smiley held her back. "Not you, Cortese, you're this way."

The fear in Kaia's eyes as Ruby was dragged away was that of a child left to a pack of wolves. There were silent tears rolling down her face and Ruby wanted to punch the guard. Someone needed to look out for that girl. Ruby was thankful when a women her own age with dark skin and wild hair took hold of Kaia's hand, held her close. Kaia sobbing onto the mystery woman's shoulder was the last thing Ruby saw before she was pulled down through another doorway.

The guard pointed to one of the rooms, well not quite a room but the walls were high enough. He was rough with her as he pushed her through the narrow entrance. Probably left a hand shaped bruise, and God wasn't it a while since she'd had one of them. It was just a shame she was a raging lesbian, maybe her and Smiley could have got along.

Ruby dumped her clothes on the free bed, sat down after them. The woman across from her was the loner red head from the canteen. Great.

"Stay on your side of the room."

"Don't you even want to know my name?" Ruby asked. The girl didn't even open her eyes, laid like she was sleeping - or dead. "Well, I'm Ruby. I don't suppose you'll be getting out any time soon?" Her eyes flew open, she had the most piercing stare.

"Not a chance, I'm in here for the long haul," she replied. "And around here, we use last names. Mine's Milton. Lose the cutesy attitude or someone will beat it out of you."

Wow, Ruby was not expecting that. Milton looked so angelic and peaceful, but her tongue cut like a knife. Like Ruby's used to, before she had to make everything into a joke. Milton had closed her eyes again, trying to sleep or maybe just shut Ruby out. Who even knew anymore? It was gonna be a lonely two years.

"What's the deal with the loner?"

Ruby had taken to eating with Charlie and her girlfriend every day. There was a couple of others who sat with them regularly; Jody, who everyone called Mama Bear, Meg, who was more sarcastic than even Ruby, and Jo, who was kinda quiet but Jody loved a lot. They were the most dysfunctional gang of people Ruby had ever met, but they were nicer than fucking Lilith so that was a plus.

And hey, Kaia was getting along great with her bunk buddy. Cassie Robinson had formally introduced herself and promised to look after Kaia like she had done with the others. Wrong place wrong time seemed to be the motto for the ghetto.

Then there was Milton, who hadn't so much as looked at Ruby the entire time they'd been sharing a room. She sat alone every meal, and God only knows where she went during rec time.

"Who, Anna?" Jody asked. She sent a cursory glance in Milton's direction. Anna Milton, Christ didn't she just sound so middle class. Almost as if she could feel them staring, Anna glanced up at them, her blue eyes still icy and cold. Jody didn't appear the slightest bit guilty. "No one knows really, she doesn't talk to any of us. I tried but, she doesn't really like my cooking so why would I try?"

Sometimes, Jody really did not give a fuck and Ruby admired her for it.

"She's in for killing a guy, that's all we know," Charlie chimed in. Well, Ruby could understand killing a guy. The amount of times she nearly killed Lilith's dick of a boss. Everyone called him Lucifer, and it wasn't hard to understand why.

"Babe, we don't know that," Bela stroked her arm. "I doubt she's in here for much - she's not really the violent type, is she?"

"Look at us, how many of us are actually the violent type?" Charlie asked. She was right, most of the people she'd met were in on drug charges. None of them had it in them to be violent, and Ruby cringed at the days when she used to be. The amount of people she'd hurt because Lilith had asked her to. She was a fucking idiot.

The table went quiet. Best way to bum out a bunch of prisoners? Just ask them about their crimes.

"There's something about her..." Ruby was still staring at Anna, couldn't help herself. No one paid attention, but she wasn't gonna give up easily. Ruby would make Anna talk to her, or Anna could fight her, rip her apart. She was just so fucking bored.

Ruby got up extra early, rushed down her breakfast so she could see where Anna went during her days. Unsurprisingly, they ended up in the library. Ruby didn't even know the prison had a library, not that she was complaining. Maybe she could get her GED while she was in there. That was all off topic though, for now she had to focus on Anna.

Ruby pulled out the chair opposite her, sat down and leaned on the table. Anna sighed.

"What do you want?"

"Why won't you talk to me," Ruby asked. Even from behind the book, she could feel Anna's eye roll. Ruby snatched the book, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, out of her dainty fingers. "Why won't you talk to any of us? We won't bite, you know."

"Yeah, but I might," Anna said. The pulled the book back but didn't open it up again, which Ruby saw as progress.

"Okay, so you killed a guy," Ruby shrugged. "Who'd blame you, men are awful. Doesn't mean you need to cut yourself off from the rest of society forever."

"I didn't kill a guy, I nearly killed a guy," Anna replied. That was unexpected. Ruby half thought Charlie had been lying about whatever rumours were flying about, but for her to straight up admit it was pretty hardcore. Anna must have take Ruby's stunned silence as a cue to continue. "I was young, and stupid, and there was this girl..."

Ruby had to laugh. There's always a girl.

"There was this girl, Mary. I knew her husband wasn't treating her right, she came into work with bruises and she'd laugh them off but her smile. There was nothing behind it. I'd watched her go from my cool, vibrant, best friend, to someone so quiet I could barely recognise her. And it was his doing, John's. So when she finally got the courage to leave him, and he started threatening her, I had to do something.

"As far as I know, he's out of hospital, out of prison, doing well with his life. And Mary went back to him. And I'm stuck in here, down my freedom, down the love of my life, and down one family for outing myself during the trial."

"Damn, that's some heavy shit." What could Ruby possibly say to comfort her? Anna glared at her, but it was a little warmer than usual.

"Okay, so now you have my tragic backstory, will you leave me alone?"

"You think that's tragic? Anna, you're a hero," Ruby frowned. "I don't care if Mary couldn't see it, or even if you can't, but you know how many people would risk their lives for someone? Not many, I'll tell you that. People are entirely selfish, be proud that you're not them."

Anna paused for a moment. It was like she couldn't meet Ruby's eye, like she was ashamed of who she was. Ruby's heart broke; Anna deserved better.

"So you're in here because of someone else?"

"Oh yeah, my ex-girlfriend ratted me out to the pigs," Ruby laughed. She was feeling less bitter about it by the day, but God she still wanted to strangle Lilith sometimes. "Told them I was smuggling drugs, didn't say I was doing it for her but you know - whatever's convenient."

There was a hand on her arm, a touch so light it could have been a ghost. She looked across and saw Anna's arm reached between them. Her nails were painted a pretty shade of pink, and all Ruby could think about was how short they were. Mind out of the gutter, Ruby. But the touch felt electric and Ruby couldn't think of much else beyond Anna.

"Here's to crappy ex-girlfriends, right?" Anna smiled. An honest to God smile on the ice queen.

"Here's hoping for better ones soon," Ruby added. Anna's grip on her arm tightened just a little bit, and Ruby hadn't felt hope like it in a long time.

Things were easier with Anna talking to her. Sure, they still spent meals and most of their rec time separately, but Anna was helping Ruby muddle through her GED. Once a week they'd meet in the library and they'd run through things Ruby thought she knew. Anna was kind about it though, never once making fun of her for getting things wrong.

The nights though, the nights were the best.

In there little room with half walls, they could be themselves in a way they couldn't share with anyone else. Ruby dropped her carefully constructed class clown persona, and Anna melted a little more with every night. They spoke in hushed whispers, but it didn't matter. They could speak in only gestures and it seemed the other would understand.

When Anna came to bed, her face a screwed up mess of tears, Ruby was ready to go on the warpath. But she was trying to change, so she hugged her friend and asked her what was wrong.

"It's Mary," Anna whispered. "She wants to come visit."

Ruby spiralled. There was no way that Mary wasn't coming to get back together with Anna. And Anna was probably still in love with her. So where did that put Ruby, and their half flirting, the longing touches between them. Bile rose in the back of her throat, but she swallowed it down. She had to be there for Anna, even if she got hurt in the process.

"Do you think she'll ask to get back together?" She asked tentatively.

"Fuck no, I think he knocked her up and I was the only one who ever cared about her," Anna said. "So of course she's gonna come to me. I don't even - I don't even know if I want to see her again."

"No one's forcing you to, and you don't owe her anything."

"I know."

There was a but, Ruby could sense it. She knew all of Anna's faces, and she looked so conflicted. If she could, she'd have told Anna to forget about her, ignore every plead and call because she deserved so much better. It wasn't that easy though, it never would be. If Lilith asked to see Ruby again, God only knew what she'd say.

But Anna said nothing more. She stayed on the floor, legs hugged to her chest, until the guards came for final roll call. The lights in their block flickered out. Ruby felt a hand reaching for her own.

"Can I -" Anna thought better of what she was going to say. "I can't be alone right now."

So Ruby slid across, let Anna climb into bed right next to her. She smelled of apples and earth. Ruby could picture the two apple picking in some Vermont orchard instead of stuck in a Kansas prison. They fit together in the single bed, legs locked around each other. It would have been peaceful, if Anna wasn't sobbing into Ruby's chest.

"So, are you guys like dating?"

Kaia was a cute kid, but she asked the wrong questions at the wrong time. There was nothing going on between her and Anna, not in the way Ruby wanted it to. Whatever they had though, it was something more than a friendship. since the whole Mary deal, Anna had kinda been walking around half dazed. It was freaking everyone out.

"Don't know."

"How can you not know? Just ask her?" Kaia questioned.

Ruby wanted to spit out it wasn't that simple, but in all fairness she was the one who went to a teenager for dating advice. As far as she knew, Kaia had had a pretty serious girlfriend before she was locked up. What serious meant to a kid, she didn't know.

Kaia had a point though. Maybe if she asked Anna what their deal was, she could finally get a girlfriend. Maybe get laid, who knew. She could also get punched straight in the boob if it turned out Anna didn't actually like her like that. God she sounded like a kid again. Maybe she was right to talk to Kaia.

"I'm scared if I ask her, this might have all just been a game to her, you know?" Ruby said. She looked out over the yard, where all the prisoners had been shoved out for rec time. No one seemed to be having much fun. "I don't know, some girls are just affectionate with their friends, right? So maybe that's all I am to her. I don't want to be."

"Ask her, it's better than not knowing surely."

Kid was three for three. Kaia gave her a look before disappearing, and a second later Anna's voice rang in her ear.

"What were you talking about?"

"Oh, I was just making sure she's fitting in okay," Ruby lied. She was completely fluent in the language of bullshit. "Cassie seems to have taken her in, which is good 'cause lord knows that kid needs some positive role models."

"You've been doing a pretty good job with her," Anna said. "You care about her a lot, it's really sweet. You know how you said I was unselfish? You are too. I know you don't act like it, but I also know that's a front. Be proud."

Ruby's heart burst open like a caged bird being let free. She wanted to feel like that forever, even if it meant asking the difficult questions.

"Are we dating?"

Anna blinked. In the few weeks they had been together, Anna's eyes had turned from an icy blue to a soft sea green. The light in them danced as Ruby waited for an answer. Silence had never felt so loud.

"Are we?"

Dumb useless lesbians. Ruby shook her head, almost wanted to laugh but she was one of the dumb useless lesbians involved in it all. While she still had Anna's attention, Ruby pulled her close and kissed her quick. They were in full sight of the yard, someone could see them so they couldn't spark flames like Ruby wanted. Anna's lips on hers were enough.

"I'm sick of crappy relationships, okay? I'm in for the long haul if you are," Ruby whispered, her face an inch away from Anna's.

"Told you that right from the beginning," Anna replied.

Lebannon Minimum Security Prison was a crappy place to call home, but Ruby's family? That was pretty okay. Maybe she had something to thank Lilith for after all.

SPN Survey thingy

@melissaj616 tagged me to do this thing (why can’t I tag you?)

1. What season did you start watching Supernatural? I have been around since the Pilot.

2. Who was the first character you fell in love with? Dean had me at easy tiger.

3. Who was a character that you hated at first but grew to love? I don’t know if I hated him but Sam annoyed me to no end at first. I found him whiny and an overgrown selfish child. I do however love him with all of my heart now and I am so proud of the man he became.

4. Which character would you most want to be in a long-term relationship with? Dean - he showed he is loyal and loving when he was with Cassie and Lisa. I know many fanfics portray him as jealous and hard to be around and even though he sure as hell comes with bagage and going to bed scared he will get killed on a hunt - I don’t think he is the type that will doubt you or make you doubt him. He will make you feel loved and safe.

5. If you could go on just one date with one character, which one would you choose? Does one date mean I only get the one cause if so I can’t chose Dean. If one means first of many then hell yes Dean!

6. What would you do on the date? Don’t know. Drive in movie, star gazing, something playful and fun maybe.

7. Which character would you most want to be like? Rowena is badass.

8. Which character would you most like to see brought back from the dead? Bobby! Still not over that one and Cas (but thanks to Padalecki’s blabbermouth I am sure that will happen lol)

9. Which character would you most like to punch? Ketch - only I’d kick him in the balls.

10. Who is your absolute favorite character? Dean (I feel like I got a studder here lol)

11. Which “Big Bad” do you think was the worst? I hated the leviathans but I am also getting a tad tired of Lucifer. Can’t we be done with that guy soon?!

12. Which character are you most like? Hmm I think I am a good mix of Dean, Charlie and Donna. I’d let you figure out which is which.

13. What death hit you the hardest? Bobby! Anytime they killed Cas and he didn’t wake up within a few minutes. I am hating saying goodbye to Crowley especially with the way Mark S seem to be dealing with it. I hate if there is any bad blood there.

14. What season finale hit you the hardest? 1 scared the crap out of me! And the blood bath that was 12 is still haunting me.

15. What are your ten all-time favorite episodes? Not fair!! - In no paticular order and ask me tomorrow and a few might have gotten switched out 1) Baby, 2) What is and never should be, 3) Regarding Dean, 4) In My Time of Dying, 5) Lazarus Rising 6) Dark Side of the Moon 7) As Time Goes By 8) Soul Survivor 9)Pilot 10) Red Meat

16. What’s been your favorite season? I really liked 11 even with it’s rapey Amara moments, aside from that probably season 4

17. Who is your favorite angel? Cas! If I can’t pick him it is a toss up between Gabriel and Balthazar

18. Who’s your favorite demon? Crowley but if I can’t say him Abbadon (oh wait Dean was demon so Dean lol)

19. Who’s your favorite evil character? Is Crowley and Rowena really evil? If not Abbadon or maybe Cain but also not sure I’d call him evil.

20. Do you have any Supernatural ships? Lots. Destiel, Deonna and Saileen mostly but loved Dean with Jo as well. I don’t mind him with Lisa but long term it couldn’t work. Megstiel. Sam/Jess. Bobby/Jody urgh and some I forget I am sure.

21. Who’s your favorite supporting actor? Rob Benedict - cause Rob is the cutest!

22. What’s your favorite quote from the show? Accidents don’t happen accidentally comes to mind. But a shit load!

23. If you could cast one famous actor in an episode of SPN, who would you chose? Don’t know if she is all that famous but I would love to see Danneel on the show - maybe as a human impala.

24. If you could write your own episode, what kind of creature would you like to see included? meh who cares. Lots of brotherly moments. A shirtless scene for Dean and some kick ass fighting with the silent communication thing they do.

25. Who’s your favorite girl that Dean’s hooked up with? Any but Anna. I hate her with a passion. Always did. Oh and Layla was annoying but the sexscene was hot. Lisa probably - if I had to chose.

26. Who’s your favorite girl that Sam’s hooked up with? Jess

27. What are some of your favorite convention moments? Can’t pick one.

28. If you were going to guest star (or be a recurring guest star) on SPN, how would you want your character described? The character that my LwR actress plays. A badass angel named Amber (who hooks up with Dean :P)

29. What do you hope to see in the next season? Not too much of the alt reality thing. Seen that stuff kill shows before.
