No, seriously, what the hell is going on here? The more information we get about this, the more confusing it becomes.

Nightcrawler encourages Remy to marry Rogue; the thought of it makes Remy smile. Then Rogue wears her famous first-date-with-Remy dress to the gala where she dances with Magneto instead and kisses him right in front of Remy. So Remy gets his heart ripped out and then dies believing that the woman he loves had chosen the other guy.

I, like many people, thought there had to be some kind of timeline reset coming to change these events because that's the only way they'd make any sense. I mean, why on Earth would you even think of doing it this way if the whole point wasn't to undo it? But Beau DeMayo has since dismissed the possibility of resolving this with time travel, so... WTF?!

Why have Rogue wear that dress? She could have worn literally anything, any other outfit, but it had to be that particular dress, a dress that has very special significance to anyone who loves the Romy relationship... and it's used as a way to completely gut Remy and the fans alike right before he gets killed?

WHY?!

And now that we know there's no time travel fix, this means that, even if Remy is resurrected as Deathbit, Rogue won't be going back in time, won't save Remy that way, won't get to rectify that moment by dancing with Remy instead...

...SO HOW DO YOU FUCKING FIX THIS THEN? WHY DO IT THIS WAY? WHAT WAS EVEN THE POINT OF THIS EXCEPT TO TAKE SOMETHING CHERISHED AND BELOVED BY THE FANS AND NIHILISTICALLY PISS ALL OVER IT JUST FOR THE SAKE OF ABJECT CRUELTY?

Was the cruelty the point? Did they just want to take something the fans loved and desecrate it because they think that's funny or something? What the fuck are we doing here?!

Yeah, there's two episodes left and a lot can still happen, but holy shit, I officially have no clue how they can pay all this off in a way that's going to be in any way satisfying or even make sense at this point...

Woooooow... just saw ep 9 of X'Men 97. I may not like all of their choices, but damn do they go hard and I appreciate the execution of it. The last minute was soooo much wow. Prof X mind controlling Magneto, Magneto helmeting him and about to kill him, Wolverine stabbing Magneto and Magneto un-adamantiuming Wolvie...wooooow...

I do not know what they're going to do next. I knew Rogue would go to Magneto based on her costume alone. That's the OG terrorist Rogue/villainous Rogue costume. I might not love that decision of her going to Magneto... but based on what's happened, it makes sense. And omg, her wearing Remy's trench coat? Cryyyying. The one thing I can see with Rogue going back to the X-Men is Magneto wanting to kill Deathbit because Deathbit is dangerous.

Because I still believe Remy is coming back. I cite X-Treme X-Men and everything Rogue says to bring him back. Absolute Points? Nexus Events? They don't matter. X-Men make their own miracles. I literally said this as my thesis for why Gambit is coming back and then hours later the panel appeared on my feed lol.

One more week of me screaming, crying and throwing up.

Rogue is pissed. She's had to face a trauma she hasn't had to ever face before. I can completely understand this trajectory she's walking. It makes sense for the arc that her character is going through in this universe. The bit where she handed back the trench coat though? That killed me.

Gambit will come back. It's just a matter of how and when. I can't believe people truly think he's going to stay dead. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I truly appreciate this series for taking something we all loved as kids and spinning it into an adult story. I know it's hard - literally everyone is miserable in this show - but damn, I suppose that's life. And I guess it's hard for some fans to accept the turn this show has taken when we all expected the gentle fluff of Romy in TAS. What Romy have had so far in XM97, and eventually will have, is something far more adult and something I'm far more interested in than the non-committal flirting we got in TAS.

Don't get me wrong - there are plenty of things in XM97 I don't agree with or like. But on the whole I think it's done a really good job in (let's face it) a short amount of time of achieving something smart and thought-provoking and visceral despite its flaws. I'm actually kind of excited to see what happens next. I'm ready to be disappointed again, but I'm ready to be pleasantly surprised too.

At the very least, it has got me inspired to write Romy again. A LOT of the heartache and anger and admiration I have felt watching the show I have channelled into writing The Tailor & The Seamstress, and it's been the first time I've been genuinely excited about fic in a while. So I have a lot to thank the show for, despite all the anxiety and angst it's given me.

Hi @mnmarvelgirl That’s a great question. The prompts are a starting point for you to create something Rogue/Gambit related. As you said, they're like themes. You can take the prompts any way you want.

For instance, you could take the werewolf/vampire prompt and create a story around the Thieves Guild being a pack of Loup Garou. Or, you could take the prompt more metaphorical and reflect on Rogue’s powers being vampiric in nature (in Portuguese, Rogue’s name is Vampira). Or, you can even go with the classic of werewolves and vampires as star crossed lovers (and you get to decide who is who).

As another example—for the fairy tale prompt, you could take it as someone telling a fairy tale story. Such as Midnight Auroua’s ‘Story Time With Remy Lebeau’. Or, retell a fairy tale (or myth/folklore) with Rogue and Gambit as the characters. Like in DayenuRose’s ‘At the Crossroads of Love and Loneliness — A Journey into the Underworld’ or Chellerbelle’s ‘The X-Men Present’.

Those are just a few examples. Follow where your creativity leads you. There is always room for more Romy content.

And it doesn’t need to be just stories. You can draw something. Make a gifset. Write an essay. Make a fanfic rec list. Do a cosplay photoshoot. Bake something and share the recipe (and pictures!). Cross stitch, knit, sew….the possibilities are endless.

Since this is Rogue/Gambit week, we just asked that both Rogue and Gambit feature in some fashion in your fanwork and that their relationship is the main focus. Their relationship can be at any level—friends, lovers, newly married, or old married couple, etc. (If Rogue and Gambit are not a romantic couple in your post, we do ask that they don’t focus on other romantic relationships—for instance Belle/Gambit can be mentioned, but shouldn’t be the primary relationship).

Also, we encourage all versions of Rogue and Gambit. We are firm supporters of Romy and their love across the Multiverse. This includes the comics (yes, 616, but also don’t forget about the ‘Mutant X�� ‘verse and the 'Fairy Tale’ verse among others). There’s also the various animated series—XtAS/’97, Evo, and WatX. And, don’t forget the movies. (Romy fans have done great things with Rogue from the X-Men 1,2,&3 movies and Wolverine Origins Gambit (or a new Gambit). As for their family, you don’t need to stick with their ‘canon’ kids—you can create your own.

The prompts are ways to spark your creativity and bring a focus to celebrating Rogue/Gambit for a week.

I am not particularly rigid on following the prompts in order. For instance, if you’re putting them all in a story and a mixed up order is the best way to tell your story, feel free to change around the order. Or, if you can't post on the exact day for any reason, please still post your fanwork when you can. As long as your posts are tagged, and I can find them, I’ll reblog them. If you post after Rogue/Gambit week, I will attempt to reblog, but there is no guarantee I’ll get to them. (My life gets busy too, and I don’t always have time/energy to find later posts as the months pass. Please do tag us if you create something later on, but I can’t guarantee when/if they’ll be reblogged).

Also! Didn't Storm have the mohawk and the all black punk inspired costume when she lost her powers in the comics?

So a few days ago I re-read the comics, and yes, Storm made the change right before she lost her powers. So the show is correct, although it doesn't explain why she made that change. Maybe it'll show it in the prequel comic?

Hey, guys! Could you post the full list of prompts that didn’t make it to the roguegambit week? I didn’t heard about this project in time to submit my vote, so I didn’t get to see all the options. I’m just asking out of curiosity, of course, since I’ve already chosen the prompts I’m going to write :D ty in advance and I apologize if my request causes any problems.

I will consider sharing the unused prompts after Rogue/Gambit Week 2025. I don’t want to create confusion by posting the original unused prompts while we’re still working on the official ones.

With that said, I do keep the track of the unused prompts and, like last year, we used some of the unused ones for Rogue/Gambit Week 2034. Or, like in our first year of R/G week, I created a summer bingo card featuring unused prompts. So, the prompts are likely to come back at some point.

Are y’all interest in a second smaller event at some other point in the year? Are you interested in different sort of prompts for R/G Week (quotes? more general mood/tone prompts? Something else?) Let me know what you think..
