It really bothers me when people describe the way I grew up as "sheltered" when in reality I was not being sheltered or protected. I was intentionally confused. I was kept in the dark. My reality was being controlled.

its really fucked up that mormons send out young men (barely even adults) to be as annoying as possible so that they get yelled at to solidify the churches doctrine of "you cant trust anyone outside of the church. if you leave you will never be happy" and call it a mission

“if hell is forever then heaven must be a lie”
“If angels can do whatever and remain in the sky”
“the rules are shades of grey when you don’t do as you say”
“when you make the wretched suffer just to kill them again.”
Look, yall, i know this is from a literal adult cartoon, but those lyrics speak to me as an ex Mormon 🙏

I will never get over growing up poor in a religious mormon household where my parents still gave 10% of their income to the church (tithing) despite maxing out dozens of credit cards every month to feed the 10 children the church encouraged them to have.

Did anyone else’s family ban angry music growing up? Like. I was trying to put together a playlist and I only have maybe 20-30 songs that are truly *angry*, out of thousands. And they’re all songs I had to find as an adult because my parents claimed anger “brought contention into the home and drove away the spirit.”
Without wondering, I dunno, why is my kid so damn angry. They must just really love satan I guess /sar

As an ex mormon, please, please, please, PLEASE I AM BEGGING YOU do not ever get sucked into that cult. It is nothing but problematic and evil. I'm still repairing the damage that they caused me even 6 years after leaving, and I still need therapy for it.

I have discovered the true meaning of BULLSHIT.
So for our summer camp (creatively called Girl's Camp) in church (me and one my besties are both what you'd call "fake Mormons" and are going to camp together)
We have such strict rules its like were joining a cult.
-Apparently we can't bring phones.
-Our cabin leader will provide music and
we need to leave our music at home. (BULLSHIT. THEYRE GONNA BRING MUSIC LIKE FUCKING I AM A CHILD OF GOD OR JUST WORSHIP MUSIC)
-No being in a bunk together when just hanging out because apparently its innapropriate.
-no tight or "short" shirts that don't completely cover shoulders and chest (bro- it's gonna be like 98 degrees and they're basically expecting us to wear turtlenecks)
-"Modest" one piece swimsuits
-No devotionals (aka depressing sermons) are optional
-Lights out is at like ten
-PLUS ALL THE GIRLS ARE BEING INTERVIEWED BY THE BISHOP TO SEE IF WE'RE WORTHY TO GO LIKE WHAT IN THE ACTUAL FUCK BITCH AINT NO WAY IM WORTHY
S.O.S

I am always constantly 100 percent of the time thinking about how Mormonism uses the pervasive idea of "free agency" to convince people in the church that they have a choice when they really don't. How they tout "free agency" as one of their core tenets and then turn around and coerce people into swearing oaths in secret cult ceremonies. Mormons are not and have never been free.

concept: anti-missionaries
people knock on the doors of christians and insist that their religion is wrong and try to convince them to join a different religion or be an atheist. give them a taste of their own shit

ok but for real tho does anyone know how to actually get all your records removed from the mormon church? bc if you've ever been to one you'll know how actually creepy they are. someone will have visited the church ONCE three years ago and they'll somehow have the persons address and be discussing ways to get them to come back
