The Hazbin Hotel fandom wants you to believe that people conspired together and spent hundreds of dollars to do blackface to make them look bad than acknowledge the fact that their fandom has never been a safe space for black people, the creator endorsed black face and even drew fanart in support of the Blaire White when she did blackface, only rushed to make a character bi racial after she got flack for appropriating voodoo culture, and who’s fandom harasses a black woman every day on twitter for calling out her behavior. Like they would rather believe that some random haters would spend a shit ton of money to make them look bad, and not only that, put themselves at risk for doing blackface, than to acknowledge the fact that their fandom has always been a hostile place for black people and continues to be a hostile place for us since instead of saying “Hey that was fucked up don’t do that be better” they refuse to take ANY accountability because there’s no way a fandom that hasn’t been kind towards black people would ever have a blackface incident accidental or not

I didn’t see anyone in the Hetalia fandom shifting blame on haters when people were coming to con dressed as nazis, appropriate action was taken and cons banned Nazi cosplays and Nazi regalia and started cracking down on cosplays if they even looked like Nazi cosplays no matter how ‘accurate’ they were, I don’t remember anyone trying to blame haters or outside forces or anything, accountability was taken and actions were taken to make sure nothing like that ever happened again to make it a safe and enjoyable space for everyone. And it’s really telling that the Alastor blackface incident and the Hetalia Nazi salute incident both happened at a Boston con. Not the same con I don’t think but both happened at a Boston con.

My mom asked me if I wanted to have someone come and do makeup the morning of my wedding. I was like, "Oh, like in case you or my sister want your makeup done?"

My fiancé stepped in to diffuse things before my mom could press further, saying, "It seems like makeup isn't a priority for her."

My sister, not catching the drift, asked what I was planning on doing for my makeup. I pointed to my face and said, "Something like this."

She looked closer and said, "But you aren't wearing any makeup."

Exactly. Cue the comments from mom and sister of "Not even a little mascara?" "You don't want just a little lipstick?" "Not even foundation?" Frustrating when even family women don't get it.

I am still trying to figure out how to wrangle the wig and put braids through it (also thinking of putting flowers in the braids or somethin) and I need to hit up some places to get some extra details, different jewelry to layer etc etc. But here's what its lookin like so far!!!

This is technically part two of my Marvin photoshoot. Omg I love my boyfriend's Anti cosplay so much! He looks so evil hehe Part 3 is also here!

I find it very disturbing how in every Team Green fanfic, Rhaenyra is constantly written as this sex-crazed maniac without a brain, and her sons are all temperamental little monsters hinted to be mad and Ramsay wannabes. Oh, and looking back on every Team Neutral fanfic I've read, Alicent is still the victim, batting her teary puppy dog eyes, and Rhaenyra is still the wicked witch who is spoiled. At the end of the story, Aegon or Aemond is crowned king, while Rhaenyra's sons are either disgraced, sent to the Wall, or worse. HOTD fanfics that claim to be Team Neutral but are still Green sympathetic are something else :/

The problem is that in order to position yourself as "Team Neutral," you kind of need to deny the fact that the Dance was about:

The battle of two ideologies (oath vs. opportunism) in the absence of codified law and a "higher authority." Where the side that claims 'tradition' can more accurately be described as weaponizing certain 'traditions' and biases for opportunism. A battle that concludes with the clear message of, that while oath and honour might not always be enough, that you need to be careful and cannot assume everyone will act under that worldview, that it's the understandings we make between each other that ultimately hold society together.

Patriarchy (and unjust systems in general) punish everyone within them. You're punished for cooperating, and you're especially punished for pushing back. And women like Rhaenyra have to push back, else they'd never see power. But it's impossible for them to push back in every regard because, unless they decide to go Fire and Blood and be labelled a tyrant, they are ultimately still subject to that system. And they'll be punished for any move they make. It's not that "no one is worthy of the throne." It's that the system itself is unworthy. And those are not the same thing.

The problem is, when you examine the story with those two themes in mind, the Blacks are more in the right. GRRM makes it clear they're more in the right. That doesn't mean it isn't complicated. That doesn't mean the underlying system isn't wrong. But there's still a clearly "better" position. It's also clear that Rhaenyra is punished by the unjust system far more than her brothers are, and far more than Alicent is — because Alicent (especially show!Alicent) often makes her own prison.

So the only way to be "Team Neutral," the only way to view it as a conflict where "both sides are in the wrong," is to erase those two very essential themes. And obviously, that's going to be to the detriment of the side that occupies the "high ground" in those themes.

And that's why you get these weird narratives that often play into the very injustices, the very attitudes that the story condemns. Once you erase that condemnation, it's very easy, too easy, to start contradicting it. Because forms of those injustices persist to this day, and they're all too easy to embrace.

People really do stink because like no one confronted or said anything to the Alastor blackface cosplayers, con staff didn’t do anything, everyone just sat there, gawked, and at the most, just made passive aggressive TikTok’s about it that’s going to get this situation swept under the rug and people are either going to forget about it or it’s going to happen again and again no one will say anything and again because no one is confronting these people or telling con staff they’ll figure that it’s okay to do and keep doing it.

And of course the Hazbin Hotel fandom, a fandom that’s chalk full to the brim with racist behavior, like its creator, are taking absolutely 0 accountability for this and blaming it on outside forces saying “Haters did this on purpose to slander us !” “Haters did this to make us look bad, absolutely NO ONE in the fandom would do this !” instead of just saying “Hey that’s not cool and we need to do better and discourage this type of behavior” but no they’re blaming this so called “haters” and “antis”
