There was an entire major plot element in the Order 66 arc of TCW season 7 about how the chip didn't care that Ahsoka wasn't technically a Jedi anymore and was forcing the clones to want to kill her anyway.
Like.
It's a pretty important part of that whole story that Ahsoka not being in the Jedi Order anymore DOESN'T exempt her from Order 66. It would've been a pretty boring story if that technicality had WORKED.
But somehow the clones guarding Barriss at the prison are totally fine applying that technicality to her.
I guess they just like her better than Rex and the 332nd liked Ahsoka in the end or something. Ironic.

whenever i say i hate dutch more than i do micah ppl r always thrown off by that but it's like. anything micah does, dutch does with this veneer of self righteousness. dutch is just as violent and bigoted but he hides it all under this false bravado.
and it's not even his betrayal to arthur and john, or the gang in general, it's the violent destruction he sews in his wake that he doesn't seem to care about - or even notice - that makes me hate him so much.
of course, he's also wildly more interesting to me than micah is. his rich history with characters i do love and care about (like arthur, john and hosea) and the respect they have for him perplex me. but he's not really any better than micah. he's just a little better at not looking and sounding so overtly evil.

Hate J.K. Rowling? But want to keep liking Harry Potter?
I say we Goncharov this shit
We'll write a Harry Potter parody, filled with THE gayest and most inclusive cast, and we'll all just pretend HP never existed.
People will bring it up and we'll be like, "What? Never heard of it. Surely you mean Gary Otter."

Rachel could have put a warning saying her story isn't accurate to the myths it's based off and it would have been fine...ljke?? What reason did she have not to?
TBF she does have a disclaimer/warning, but it's shoved in the author's notes of the first episode:
And it's still not even that great of a disclaimer, because besides the fact that it's shoved near the bottom of Ep 1 where no one reads, but she says "not designed to be cited as a scholarly source on mythology except in the analysis of literature, media, the arts, humanities, etc." which... can basically be broadly applied to anything people see fit.
That being said, she also argues that she's a "self-proclaimed folklorist". She barely has the sense to put trigger warnings in her comic, you want her to have humility, too? 😂
"I'm a self-proclaimed folklorist but I haven't studied it or anything in the sense that I haven't, like, gone to school and studied it, but I mean, obviously doing these comics is, like, my day job so research is a very important component so I study it in my free time..."
- an actual quote from Rachel's audio interview with Temple of Geek
Don't get me wrong, I'm not some academic versed in Greek myth either, but y'all know that and I'm not gonna pretend like I am. In that sense, you're right, Rachel does nothing to remind people this is fanfiction. She does nothing to remind her fanbase that it's not okay to use her comic as fact in Greek myth discussions. She does nothing to hold herself or her fanbase accountable when her readers go and edit public wiki articles with inaccurate information ripped from LO. Either she just flat out doesn't give a fuck (irresponsible) or she genuinely thinks what she's doing is okay and doesn't see the massive issue with a white woman from New Zealand using another culture's religion and mythology as a way to make herself money in such a crude way (ignorant).
I often try my best to live by Hanlon's razor - "Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity." I'd like to think Rachel isn't doing this shit intentionally as a way to damage Greek myth stories or gentrify a culture, Greek myth would be the WORST avenue to try that because of how influential and massive it is.
But right hand to Kisúlk, I genuinely think she's just not that smart.

Hot take: The Barriss episodes of TOTE would've been better if they'd been about a random stormtrooper.
I love Barriss, I do, but nothing in this arc had anything to do with her. There's no discussion of her past and how that impacts how she feels about the Empire and the Inquisitors and the choices she's making now. Without that, it could've been a story about literally anyone and there would have been zero differences to the way the story played out.
But the Imperial stormtroopers feel relatively underexplored to me and, unlike the First Order stormtroopers, they joined the Empire willingly for the most part.
This could've EASILY been a story about a random stormtrooper who joined up due to some financial troubles and some propaganda about the Empire bringing safety and security to the galaxy and only realizing later just how bad it is and having to make a choice about whether to stay or leave.
It could've even been a three part exploration of Tala Durith from the Kenobi show and how she got into the Empire and the incident that caused her to defect and then how she ended up finding the Hidden Path, possibly with a cameo appearance by Quinlan Vos to explore him more, too.
I WANT more Barriss, but I want it to be a story about BARRISS, not this half-assed bullshit that just ignores the things she's done and the motivations she might've had that would continue to shape who she becomes later in life.

i'm sorry i'll always hate barriss for what she did to ahsoka, even if/when ahsoka found out for herself that the jedi were going down a dark path it should have been on her terms, not forced into it by barriss
