Enchanted Neighborhood Chapter 3
~1080 words. Sora/Kairi. Post-Canon. Family AU, SoKai Parents AU. Reunions, Fluff, Winnie the Pooh.
This is a sequel to After Ever After and Love’s Cost. There are five chapters total and the story will update weekly on Fridays.
Chapter 1 | Chapter 2 | Chapter 3 | Chapter 4 | Chapter 5
Summary: Sora joins his kids on their adventure and reunites with an old friend.
Tumblr media
Even after she was safe on the ground, Miyu needed a moment to grapple with the fact that Dad was really here. And not just here but de-aged, like she was looking at a photo from years ago that had come to life.
That was the weirdest part about all of this, seeing him not as the middle-aged man he should be, but as a teenager. As someone around her age. She’d only ever seen him like this in pictures, and seeing him in person like this was unsettling. He was so young, and yet still so… so… Dad. That much was clear as he carefully lowered Emi and caught her in his arms.
“Daddy!” she cried, throwing her arms around his neck. “You look pretty!”
He raised an eyebrow. “Pretty? Not strong and handsome?”
She giggled and touched his cheek. “Strong and pretty. Your voice is different too. Still Daddy’s voice, but you sound more like Haruto.”
Emi was right. When he spoke, his voice was a little higher. Still his, but not as deep as it should be.
“Speaking of Haruto…” He set Emi on the ground, and it was weird how he didn’t tower over her anymore. He was still taller than Emi of course, but Miyu figured she was about Dad’s current height, and Haruto might even be a little taller thanks to his recent growth spurt.
Yep, the moment Haruto’s feet touched the ground, he was just barely taller than Dad. Just barely. Though maybe that was his wild hair. Then again, Dad’s hair was pretty wild and spiky too, so it was a tossup.
“This is really weird,” Haruto said, his voice cracking like it had done a lot lately. “Cool, but weird. How old are you supposed to be?”
Dad twisted this way and that to look at himself. “Sixteen, if I had to guess? Man is this surreal. No aching bones, no creaky joints, no dad bod. And yet I definitely don’t have the brain of a teenager.” He paused for a moment. “Do I? I mean I have all my memories, all my experiences.” He looked at them and smiled. “My kids.”
Miyu found herself smiling back. This was definitely Dad. Some things never changed, no matter what his physical appearance was. That was what Mom always said, that she could see Dad’s heart no matter what, and Miyu wondered if she’d passed that along to them or if Dad’s heart really was that strong.
“So yeah,” Dad said, “definitely still myself, just younger with the help of some of Merlin’s de-aging magic gone awry.”
“But we wished for you to come here!” Emi said.
Dad’s eyebrows shot up. “Oh, was that what it was? Maybe that’s why things went so wonky. Wishes and dreams are powerful things, you know.” He smiled softly. “They helped bring me back when I was—”
“Excuse me?” Pooh interrupted. “Might someone put me right-side up?” He was still floating and spinning in slow circles, as anti-gravity spells usually made their targets do (something Miyu and Haruto had discovered by accident, sorry Dad).
“Pooh!” Sora cried. “I’m sorry, I got distracted.” He jumped up and grabbed Pooh, landing gracefully on his feet with the little bear in his arms.
“Sora?” Pooh asked, and Dad’s entire face lit up. He hugged Pooh tightly before setting him down on the ground, then kneeled to be eye-level with him.
“It’s so good to see you.”
“And it’s good to see you, Sora. But I thought you were supposed to be a grownup.”
Dad rubbed the back of his neck. “Oh, that. Yeah, I am one. But some special magic let me come visit you again. Sorry it’s been so long.”
“Why did you become a grownup?”
Dad glanced at the three of them, then smiled softly. “So I could get married and have kids. I see you’ve met them. Well, almost all of them. Kairi and I have another one on the way now too.”
Miyu bit her lip. So Dad really had given up his friends here to start their family.
“That’s very good news,” Pooh said. “I hope Kairi is doing well.”
“She’s doing great, and she sends her regards.” Dad took a deep breath and sighed. “Man is it good to be back.” He stood there for a moment, letting the breeze ruffle his hair and tug at his clothes like an old friend.
“Daddy? Why are you standing there with your eyes closed?” Emi asked.
He opened his eyes and smiled. “Because every second is a gift. Every moment is precious. And I wanna treasure them all.” He reached for Pooh’s hand on one side and her hand on the other. “C’mon, you’ve gotta meet my other friends!”
Emi and Pooh grabbed his hands, and he glanced back at her and Haruto. “You guys too.” He winked and grinned. “You’re not too old for this yet.”
With that, he and Emi and Pooh took off skipping, leaving her and Haruto behind. Haruto was oddly quiet.
“What is it?” she asked him.
“After Dad got hurt really badly protecting us, I realized he’s not invincible. And in my head, I knew how old he was when he fought Xehanort and stuff too. But today it’s like I’m seeing he’s a normal guy for the first time.” He looked at her and smiled sadly. “I guess it’s just weird seeing him like this, you know? Realizing he was like us once.” He rubbed the back of his neck. “Yikes, listen to me, I’m starting to sound like him even.”
“There’s nothing wrong with that,” Miyu said softly. “We are his kids. His legacy. Mom’s too, of course.” She fiddled with her bracelet. “I wish she were here right now, she’d know what to say.”
“Probably something about how she’s glad we got to have a normal childhood.”
“Right. They’ve given up so much for us to have that.”
“Yeah.” The silence lingered for a few moments, then Haruto slapped on a smile. “Well, guess it’s time to meet more old friends of Dad’s.”
She nodded. “Guess so.”
Haruto bounded off after Dad, and Miyu was left staring after all of them. She rested a hand over her heart and sighed.
“Maybe living for someone is just as much of a sacrifice as dying for them,” she said softly. Her words lingered in the air for a moment till they were carried away by the breeze, then she followed after everyone else.

having oc brainworms atm hold on
wrote this all in one sitting, maybe a few mistakes
The silence was defeaning.
The familar crackle and zaps of energy inside the can gone.
Schools of neuron flies going about in a hurry.
Overseers gathered in the entrance pipe, zapping at eachother in worry, to the puppet room.
It was quiet.
Except not fully.
Maddened muttering and mumbling can be heard from the puppet of [Triple Core Systems]. Iterator of this can.
Hands tightly clenching his head, probably enough to bruise, wound even.
Body curled up into a shaking ball as his arm held him there.
Anti-gravity on but all the lights are shut off.
The only source of light was from the bio-luminescence of the puppet and the ring of energy thrumming around it.
Its hands dig in further into it's head, about to break skin before-
A latch opens, a whirr of an Iterator arm hurling itself somewhere at high speeds can be heard and-
"Cor3yyy!! Your Comms cut off again!!!"
The puppet, The iterator reffered to in question, goes limp, dangling in the air by its arm.
Interrupted. Interrupted by this shrill sound again. They cannot solve the great problem for their kind and merciful creators if they dally in place. They- It has to work. It needs to work work work and-
"COR3Y!!"
Two Iterator puppets slam into the wall of the room after one threw itself at the other.
"We worried!!!"
It blinks.
One
Two
Three.
Then, they look up.
A familiarly reassuring annoying face is close to theirs.
"Triple Core Systems!!! You shut yourself off and away from everyone else for 5 cycles!!! are you trying to give ME a HEART ATTACK?!?!"
As the smaller, clad in yellows and greens with a ring of aqua green energy crackling in anger around it, Iterator shakes them as they shout and complain and berate them for this awful habit they've adopted
A chime sounds in the air as lights turn back on, their systems start to buzz and crackle as they get activated again, overseers momentarily teleporting in before leaving and neuron flies finally relaxing.
They look down at the other iterator, [Iridescent Ravaged World].
They chuckle at his worry, not mockingly but in relief that they noticed, that they made an effort to push and push against them until they gave in.
Aforementioned Iterator just wailed and weakly bashed their fists against them.
Cor3 lets him, They deserve it for doing it again.
"Do you WANT me to rip out your remaining eye left?? huh??? Do you???"
They sigh playfully as Iridescent huffs and crosses his arms infront of them.
"I do not need to use my eyes to figure out a solution to The Great Problem. But its worth it seeing your finely crafted puppet every moment of a cycle when im not being an idiot."
A straightforward and true statement. Even if Core cannot harbor romantic feelings, they can atleast appreciate beauty.
And besides, its endearing to watch Iridescent sputter and fail to make an appropriate comeback every time Core compliments him.
"Hmph!! W-well, come on. To the bridge!!! They want to check up on your overachieving ass."
Iridescent huffs as Core chuckles at how flustered he is.
They untangle their arms and wires before Iridescent yanks Core off and away to the bridge that connects their Cans together.
As they zip through the side layers of their can, Core thinks to themself...
'How wonderful would it be, if this bond never ends'
Thousands of Cycles later, after the Ancients ascended(Some not by choice. Many not by choice.)
Core holds Iridescent as they hug eachother on the floor of Iridescent's can, their son, a genetically modified to perfection slugcat, cuddled up between them.
They have their differences, and even caused 1 major injury to eachother in the past.
But no matter what.
Cycle to Cycle, Dominion and Ascension.
They are intertwined.
Forever and ever.
I LOVE THEM SOKAY....

I don't know if you're aware, but a lot of your posts are slipping through into the SoKai and Kairi tags. Though I know you're not meaning for them to, it's just Tumblr having a shitty tagging system. Maybe you could try writing SoKai as "S*oKai" or Kairi as "K*airi" if you want to talk about them in your tags, that way some of your anti comments about them don't show up in the pro tags. That's the sort of thing I do to avoid discourse. But ya don't have to. Just thought I'd give you a heads-up.
OHHH. IM SO SORRY!!!! I know you don’t seem mad, but I am truly sorry if I made you mad or anyone else who sees this upset! I never meant for that!! I’ll definitely do this in the future so I don’t make some people upset, even if I didn’t want to come off as bad :(.
Thank you so much for the heads up!!💙💙💙.

Master of Masters: the truth is what you see with your eyes, not what you hear
What I hear: Sokai is canon, Sora and Kairi are inlove with eachother and have been since the first game, Sora and Kairi want to be together forever, everyone knows how much they like eachother, Soriku makes no sense and are more like brothers, Kairi is a great character and perfect love interest for Sora, Sora and Kairi are made for eachother and destined to be together forever, they shared the paopu fruit so their basically canon, Sokai is undeniable at this point KH3 pretty much set it in stone, its canon whether or not its said they are its canon, they dont need to kiss or do any really lovey dovey stuff to prove that their canon and love eachother.
What I see: Kairi is a pointless waste of a character with no personality or purpose other than to be Sora’s love interest and a dues ex machina to get Sora out of otherwise impossible situations by just blaming it on princess of heart powers. Kairi’s entire existence depends on Sora and without him she serves no purpose, so much so that Sora dies and fades from existence and instead of playing an active role like everyone else in finding a way to get him back she just sleeps for a year to absolutely no avail because again her character depends entirely on Sora and without him shes practically non existent.
Sokai is only semi canon on face value, it has no actual substance or development to back it up, the DLC tried rectifying this by shoving in moments where they didnt belong and playing down Riku to boost Kairi up because that was the only way to try and convince us that Kairi is really THAT important and THAT relevant that Riku had to be completely removed and ignored just for Sora to properly spend time and have moments with her that he didnt have before. Riku was even removed from being part of why his journey started and Sora only gives recognition to Kairi as the reason he started his journey despite Kairi and Riku BOTH disappearing that day but again, the only way to make Sokai even halfway believable is to remove Riku entirely. The DLC shoved so much Sokai down our throats as an attempt to do damage control for the travesty in the main game and all the other games where Sokai was practically non existent. Sokai is a hollow forced relationship with no real subtance or depth to it other than just Sora likes Kairi and Kairi likes Sora too and thats the end of it. We are TOLD how important they are to eachother, how deep their relationship is, how important she is to Sora etc, but we dont SEE anything that backs that up.
Sora and Riku’s bond has far more depth and substance than Sora and Kairis has ever had, even Re:Mind didnt change this fact. Soriku makes far more sense, has way more chemistry, has a way more deeper connection, are comfortable around eachother whereas Sora shows discomfort several times around Kairi including the paopu scene, the bond between Sora and Riku is so strong that Kairis been asleep for a year yet Riku’s dreams are the only thing thats connected to Sora and is implied to be the key to finding Sora in KH4. Whether Sora and Riku become canon or not their relationship will always make the most sense and have the most genuine build up that happened naturally and wasnt forced or fake, but sincere. Soriku’s relationship is the very definition of pure unwavering love, romantic or platonic their relationship is simply pure and will always be the most logical outcome in terms of pairings for Sora. The fact that Riku wasnt shown spending time with Sora for any of his final moments of life was the ultimate spit in the face, despicable and unforgivable. Every other trio is treated far better and shown way more of the bond between all 3 except for the Destiny Trio.
Kairi is lowkey not a great friend either, she jokingly suggested to Sora that she and him just take the raft and leave Riku behind, but joke or not just her having the thought at all is questionable, even if Riku was changing she just abandons him? not cool. They say their friends but Kairi is only ever seen really bonding with Sora and when push came to shove she was ready to abandon Riku rather than trying to help him, meanwhile Riku did everything he could to try and save Kairi, nuff said.

Ok, time for my review of Kh3 Re:Mind Dlc
This is gonna be long, so be prepared, and yes there will be many spoilers so if you dont want spoilers of the game then you probably shouldnt read this, but if you dont care then stick around.
I will start off with my unbiased and critical opinion.
Tumblr media
From the title menu alone you already know what this game is gonna be about. Kairi is gonna be center focus, or should say specifically Sokai, and Riku will be virtually non existent.
Now I know what your thinking, well duh its all about saving Kairi of course Riku wont have that big a role and she’ll be the main focus, and to that I say no shit sherlock I already knew that. My issue isnt that it was Kairi focused because I already knew that and still pre-ordered the DLC, but my issue is what this title screen represents and my fears were proven correct.
Let me elaborate
Riku is just as much of a friend to Sora as Kairi is, from the beginning of the series its always been Sora, Riku, and Kairi, thats the way its ALWASY been. But from this title screen I could tell Riku’s bond with them wasnt gonna be present at all and I was right.
I’ll elaborate further
I know Im jumping way ahead here but bare with me, at the end of the game after Sora rescues Kairi they travel the worlds together, Sora notices he is fading away which is why he goes to the many different worlds he has visited but now with Kairi, spending his final moments with her before he finally disapears.
See the problem? Sora doesnt involve Riku at all in his final moments being alive, he is just completely absent during his entire remaining life. Sora only spends time with Kairi during his final moments, Riku wasnt shown with them once.
I know some people say well we dont know how long Sora was alive before vanishing and he was probably the one who organized the party, but did we see that though? did we see any signs that Sora was alive for more than a day or two? did we see Sora talking to anyone like he was setting anything up? NO, it was all about Kairi and Riku was completely forgotten.
I can understand if Sora wasnt dying then it wouldnt matter how much time he spends with Kairi alone, but Sora was fading away ANY SECOND and he didnt spend any of his remaining time with Riku at all, even at the beach party who is Sora sitting next to alone with before he finally vanishes? Kairi. That is inexcusable and a huge insult to Riku and his bond with Sora, hes just completely excluded, that is unforgivable.
These new added scenes to the ending actually made it worse than the original version of it, before we didnt even know Sora was around for more than a day and just assumed they all had a beach party afterwards to celebrate getting everyone back and saving the world, but now we know Sora was actually around for an extended period of time and made no effort to spend time with anyone other than Kairi, not even his best friend Riku did he spend time with for his final hours, that is despicable.
Another major issue is how Sora keeps saying his journey started with losing Kairi in this game, as if Riku wasnt ALSO lost that day, as if Riku wasnt the reason Sora kept on his journey even after saving Kairi and sending her back to Destiny Islands, as if he didnt fall to his knees and bawl his eyes out finally reuniting with him, as if he wasnt content with spending the rest of his life trapped in the Realm of Darkness with Riku, as if for the entirety of the base game of kh3 Sora wasnt constantly and only thinking about Riku and how many things he wished he could show him.
Apparently in Remind none of that happened, none of that mattered, it was Kairi that was his main motivation, it was Kairi that started his journey, Riku wasnt involved in it at all.
That is a huge issue with this DLC, it treats Riku like a side character and of little importance to Sora, in the base game they handled them fine minus that on instance in the Keyblade Graveyard where Sora says ‘Alone, Im worthless’ even though Riku’s right there but other than that their relationship and bond was handled very well but in Remind? practically non existent.
Now onto the story aspect, if your not into time travel and have trouble understanding the many variations of it then your gonna have a bad time because it gets VERY confusing to follow, which is why you should never introduce time travel because it becomes way too complicated to keep track of and not only that you also have to worry about things like paradoxes, ripples in time, alternate timelines etc. Its a complete clusterfuck to keep up with and manage so time travel really shouldnt have been introduced in this series.
Chirithy tells Sora that no matter what he cant change the past again, yet there are times where Sora does just that so exactly what cant he change? for example, when Roxas appears he asks Sora to do him a favor which is essentially getting the X back from Xemnas in their names. Sora does several things to make this happen and even Kairi gets a couple swings at Xemnas this time but then the two of them are basically caught and restrained inside shadow balls [pause]
See the prob? this is a huge change to that fight, Kairi never took a single swing at Xemnas, she just stood there and got snatched up, Roxas never asked Sora for help getting the X’s back from Xemnas, and Sora and Kairi never got restrained by Xemnas and knocked out.
Chirithy explicitly said Sora cant change what happened and no matter what he has to accept it for what it is, yet here he is, changing what happened. Maybe you could argue well this is an alternate timeline, even if it is that makes all of this irrelevant and means it never happened because the true ending is the one where it didnt happen, making this semi useful Kairi moment really pointless because at the end of the day its not canon, her being useless is the true outcome, none of this matters.
That is extremely disappointing, so even if you alter the past for the better it doesnt matter because its an alternate timeline and that timeline isnt the real one making this whole redo pointless and time consuming for a short DLC that was an extra 30$ to play.
So the time travel is very confusing and even if you follow it, it ends up being very disappointing when you realize none of it matters.
Moving on to some of the tied loose ends, Im glad they explained why Aqua froze up after saying ‘We stand together’ and I like how we get to see how Young Xehanort came to have the beliefs that lead to what he did and also MOMs subtle influence on him succumbing to darkness.
He told Xehanort that he would outgrow the robe and no longer need it because if he was truly powerful then he’d be the one controling the darkness, this leads to Xehanort later begining to travel without the robe and being corrupted. So we know now that MOM also influenced that as well and is very sketchy, even more now than he was before since this action greatly influenced what Xehanort eventually does and all the pain he caused, all of which would have probably never happened if it wasnt for him.
But thats just my theory and what I got from it.
I liked that we got to see Namine for a brief moment where Sora basically brushes her off and completely forgets about thanking her, this is a plotline Im pretty sure at this point is just never going to get resolved. He just tells her to go to the Final World and walks off, which makes no sense because Sora was surprised to see her in the original playthrough.
Another change was Lingering Will dying to protect Sora, again this never happened because Sora was busy fighting alongside everyone in the maze while Lingering Will and Terranort were fighting away from them. After Lingering Will died for him then Sora is pretty much squeezed to death by Terranorts Stand, or atleast knocked unconscious.
So much about these are just so confusing as to how they are happening when Chirithy said the events couldnt be changed I just stopped questioning it.
But atleast this time its made clear that Namine is the one who sent Lingering Will to help everyone and how she did it, so now people can stop saying Kairi is the reason everyone survived because it wasnt, without Lingering Will they would have all died a second time.
Basically the first half of the DLC is just recap with some minor changes and additions to the cutscenes, you get to play as other characters like Riku [optional] Aqua [not optional] and Roxas [optional] but other than that its basically the same thing all over again for the first 3-4 hours of the DLC, that is ridiculous.
The new content finally starts when Kairi is shattered, funny how the game gets good after Kairi dies xD I’ll stop.
Anyway once Kairi dies is when we finally get explorable Scala, but not without having to endure an insane fight with tons of heartless and nobodies and yes its more complicated than you think. It doesnt matter how many heartless or nobodies you kill, they will keep coming until you kill this one red heartless with way more health than your average heartless has.
After that you can pretty much wander around Scala as you wish and this is the only time where you can buy items or food so make sure to do that if your low on items. If your low on money there are minor enemies there that you can kill to get some so take advantage of this opportunity because your not getting another one.
Your goal in Scala is to basically run around, solve a couple puzzles, and get 5 of Kairi’s heart shards, revealed to having to be 7 later on. Sound fun? besides being able to see more of Scala’s layout, not really. But its a good place to take a breather before getting back into the big battles ahead.
Unfortunately your actually forced to fight the armored organization again but thankfully you dont have to do the ENTIRE final battle over, just that one section which I appreciate but wish we didnt have to do any of it at all.
So after we’re done Scala we get in MY opinion the two best parts of the entire DLC. We get to see what was going on with the rest of the keyblade wielders back home and it was INSANE and extremely well done, everybody had a chance to shine.
When everyone was swept away and Mickey was down and out, it was amazing seeing Mickey push himself back up and slowly with what little strength he had take on all the armor organization BY HIMSELF severely weakened, yet still powerful enough to hold them off and stand his ground. He really showed us WHY he is the King, so THAT I really enjoyed. It was extremely well done and one of the most memorable parts of the DLC.
The next part was even more insane and well done, which is us getting to fight as all the keyblade wielders against the armored organization and even get some cool dialog and team attacks in between, it was just amazingly well done seeing everyone work together and switching between characters was just so epic and enjoyable.
Honestly I could play those two parts over and over again and enjoy it everytime, their just that good and the most memorable in the entire DLC.
Coming back with Kairi and killing Xehanort together with all the keyblade wielders including Kairi this time was satisfying to see but it excludes Xehanorts and Eraquses final words, I mean yea seeing Xehanort have a semi happy ending put off alot of people but at the same time, seeing Xehanort come to the realization that he was wrong about everything and giving the Wayfinder trio closure by seeing their master one last time and hearing his apology to them just held more weight to me.
Im not saying I think Xehanort should be redeemed as easily as he was, but I feel like excluding Eraqus and their final words made the ending feel hollow, just ok we beat the bad guy, happily ever after now. Thats pretty lackluster and unsatisfying In my opinion.
Finally the ending....
Heres where Im gonna be biased and give my personal thoughts. Warning if your a fan of Kairi skip to the very end of the review where I give my overall rating
I hate the ending, for the reasons I listed in the beginning but also many others. I get the main focus was gonna be Kairi since the DLC was about saving her, Im not mad about the obvious, Im mad about the execution.
The Sokai agenda was so forced and apparent its not even funny, they shove it in your face so hard yet when Sora is talking with Chirithy he still refers to Kairi as a friend, really? your shoving this pairing down our throats just to have Sora still friendzone her? Im not mad because I dont want them together anyway but I hate the games being played here, you either want them together or you dont, pick a friggin side Nomura.
And while we’re on the subject, I hate, HATE, how this game is so heavily romance focused when Kingdom Hearts was NEVER about romance to begin with, it was always about friendship and bonds. Not in this DLC though, no now its all about Kairi and being with her forever, traveling the world together, holding hands, all this lovey dovey nonsense nobody invested in the plot could give a rats behind about.
Sure people who are into Kingdom Hearts for the romance of course they dont mind, but Im pretty sure MOST people invested in this series are in it for the story, not some stupid pairing, and I HATE how much they shove it down your throat because it is just so forced and obvious what they were doing.
This was all damage control for Kairi, who has been a useless damsel in distress and dues ex machina in every single game shes been a part of. I repeat, EVERY SINGLE GAME SHES A PART OF.
Kh1 - Kidnapped, unconscious, Sora needs to die to save her.
Kh2 - Kidnapped, held hostage, Sora needs to find and save her.
Kh3 - Kidnapped, unconscious, is killed twice, Sora needs to die to save her.
Do you see what I fricken mean? Every fuckin game its the same danm thing over and over and quite frankly Im sick of it. You might as well say this is a Mario game because Kairi is princess Peach always gettin snatched up and Sora is Mario always going through insanely deadly trials to get her back, and then it happens all over again.
This DLC was damage control for that, instead of immediately getting snatched up by Xemnas she actually gets a few good swipes at him to no avail of course, and then she fights together with Sora against armored Xehanort, all of which is just damage control for her not doing anything in the entire franchise and pandering to her fanbase that are constantly screeching for playable Kairi and for her to do something.
It was also damage control for how non existent their relationship was and what a joke its been since Kh1. They arent fooling anybody because thats exactly what this was, otherwise why you have to try so hard to CONVINCE us how important she was to Sora? why did Riku have to get sidelined so much just to boost Kairi up? why’d Sora completely disregard Riku as a part of his journey? why did Sora not spend ANY time with ANYONE for his final moments alive? its so obvious why. The only way to convince anyone shes actually important and relevant is to play down everyone else or exclude them entirely.
Congratulations, you got your wish, good for you fandom, but at what cost?
The time they spent forcing so much Sokai could have been used to tie up way more loose ends than there were but nope, gotta squeeze in that Sokai, thats what yall really here for right? fuck off.
The two best moments of the game was so short lived its not even funny, this DLC was full of so much padding in the first half, forced romance and pandering for damage control they forgot to actually make this a decent DLC.
Since I recorded my gameplay from start to finish I can actually tell you the amount of old content vs the new
3-4 hours of mostly what we already seen with a few changes, I only died twice
1-2 hours of new content, probably less because I got lost and died alot
That is unacceptable, 30$ for only 10% new content? that is a robbery.
Not only that but the worst part is the Limitcut episode, databattles have always been optional for competative players who like the challenge. Now you are FORCED to fight these INSANELY hard bosses, all 13 in order to get the final bits of the aftermath of the story.
WE PAID FOR THIS, this wasnt free we PAID for it and yet we’re basically told ‘Hey if your a casual player and want the rest of the story? well you gotta fight 13 of these insanely hard databattles that used to be optional but now their madatory for you to get the rest of your moneys worth. Too difficult? cant do it? well too danm bad, get good or go home we got your money already so screw you guess you’ll never know’
That is a fucking robbery and a huge slap in the face to people who are invested in the story, not proving their the best by fighting insanely difficult battles no matter what difficulty your on. It wouldnt be an issue if this was always the case, but these battles were always OPTIONAL for competetive players to do if they WANTED to, but now its mandatory and if you cant do it then oh well middle finger to you.
I couldnt even beat Vanitas, I fought him first and then Luxord and I couldnt beat either of them so I just said fuck it and went on youtube to see what I paid to see for free. 30$ wasted on a game I cant even finish, your out of your fucking mind if you think thats fair and excusable.
Thats why at the end of the day I give it a 5/10, its not good but its not bad either, its just decent. But if you asked me if it is worth the time and money? fuck no, my advice? watch other youtubers play it and keep your 30$
If you want it just to play as some of the characters, experience the new content for yourself, and play the databattles then by all means get it.
But if you think thats not enough for you to spend 30$ for then dont get it.
Overall Re:mind gets a 5/10, useless padding for majority of the first half of things we’ve already seen and cant skip because theres new scenes mixed in, forced romance that nobody but shippers care to see, severely lacking new content, and unfair extremely hard mandatory databattles just to see the final aftermath of the story which is kind of important setup for the next game.
Fuck this DLC, this was my fist time EVER buying a DLC for ANYTHING and thanks to this its probably my last. So thank you Re:Mind, for ReMinding me why I never bought DLCs in the first place.
Ps - Im so glad playable Kairi was optional, thats one of the only things this DLC did right.

MORE IDEA
I recently looked at a comment from @sergaku again. He mentioned neoshadow form for my alternate KH2 where Sora is the heartless. Now that I think about it, evolution will definitely work. Sora can’t always stay in a small shadow body forever (although Kairi would kinda like it). So here’s more idea:
- I prefer that Sora stays “mini” in normal scenario. I want him to turn to his evolved form whenever him and Kairi is in combat.
- I would put neoshadow in tier 2. Tier 1 is a stronger shadow form. The final tier (tier 3) will be his anti form.
- In my story, Sora gets his anti form when Kairi meets Riku, who is reformed by Mickey. Unfortunately, Sora still does not know about this. From his grudge and anger, Sora relentlessly attacks Riku with his anti form. While Kairi stops her lover from almost killing Riku, she finds his strength useful.
- Kairi and Anti-Sora can perform a powerful team attack. Other moves include pre-emptive strike from Sora to help out Kairi.
That’s it for now. I’ll come up with more ideas.

OK, can I talk about something? I hopped on Bl00dyBizkit’s stream because Stickman Sham is not streaming currently, and he’s talking about the SoKai dance scene in 2FM.
Everyone is moronically stating Sora’s a pedo (??????) for imagining himself dancing with fourteen-year old Kairi as he last saw her during KH1, it’s so stupid.

I wanna vent about kairi and sokai a bit if you don't mind!! your blog is right about everything and honestly I'm tired of sokai fans pretending to be feminist for liking the most bland ship where the girl is just the GIRL in the relationship
but yeah pretend that everyone who dislikes the ship is sexist >_>
Right about everything, huh? A dangerous power you’re giving me, there. XP Anyway, I do not mind, so rant away!
Well, there probably are people out there who hate Kairi and subsequently SoKai bc of sexism, or at least out of internalized misogyny (I know for a fact that there definitely were back in Ye Olde Fandom Days, but admittedly I don’t know how much has shifted in the cultural landscape of the broader fandom in the past few years). And it’s always a good idea in general to keep track of exactly where your salt is coming from, bc sometimes things like misogyny, homophobia, racism, and the like can seep in through cracks that we didn’t realize were there.
But on the other hand, it’s silly for them to refuse to admit to the obvious flaws in canon SoKai, and to equate genuine criticism with just bashing. And how is it sexist to say that Kairi deserves more narrative respect and better treatment by the writers? Like, can all you SoKai shippers look me in the eye and tell me that you’re perfectly happy with the current state of affairs? That you don’t want better writing and development and more screentime for the relationship? Can y’all honestly tell me that you think it’s 100% perfect as is, with absolutely nothing that you’d change? Really? Because that’s the part that I genuinely struggle with to understand, myself. I don’t understand how you could possibly be content with the scraps you’ve been given for this main canon romance, especially one that’s literally never had any barrier standing in its way. And that’s the part that really kills me, bc it’s not like this is a queer ship fighting against homophobic censorship, so they’ve had all the time and opportunity in the world for this ship to flourish, and they could’ve reserved all of the best writing for SoKai, and they just........didn’t. And I will literally never understand why.
I guess, what I’m trying to say here is that.....as an open message to SoKai shippers, y’all can’t paint all “detractors” of the ship with the same brush. Sure, I’ll bet that there some out there who are just haters, bc there always are. But there are a lot of ppl bringing up valid points of criticism. There’s ppl like myself, who while not inherently against the ship, can’t bring ourselves to fully ignore the subpar writing, and who maybe can never fully forgive the years of frustration over the writers’ insistence on digging an even deeper hole instead of making any effort to climb out of it. And burying your own heads in the sand and refusing to recognize or own up to the flaws in writing for SoKai (and Kairi as a character)....isn’t really going to help endear the ship to us any better.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

What ship do you hate most?
I’m actually pretty chill on most ships nowadays. Yes, some of them annoy me, like PSIC because I just have crackier plans for both Roman and Neo, but I see other people having fun with it, it’s not bad, it’s all good. And as of taking my firm proship stance, I stand by it that people should ship what they want no matter how much I don’t like it.
That said, I’m still really annoyed by 1. SoKai for ruining basically everyone’s good time in this fandom, especially the people who liked Kairi and 2. Catradora because while I have come around to liking Catra, Adora is a vanilla milkshake with vanilla whipped cream on top and I don’t want to tag her along with Catra in every fanwork I make when I could be using characters I actually like

Do you have any kind of head canons about Sora's Darkness/Heartless and how it perceives Kairi? I've seen people write it as being lethally possessive/protective of Kairi since it owes its existence to her in part, or as a considerable threat to it since she's also its main obstacle in getting Sora to relinquish control over his heart and body to it.
Oh that's a good question! Generally I've gone the possessive/protective-of-Kairi route with Anti-Form/Rage Form. Anti-Form/Rage Form is, in my mind, Sora's raw, primal instincts without his conscience or regular cognition keeping things in check. Hence why he fights with his bare hands with it in KH2. Though with Rage Form allowing you to use Sora's Keyblade in KH3, I do think it's evolving/Sora is gaining more control over it (or is it getting more control over him? Food for thought). I thought the moment where Xehanort took Sora's light and it forcibly transformed him into Rage Form in KH3 was really interesting too because it indicates this is a lore thing and not just a gameplay thing.
But anyway, all of this is to say that because one of Sora's deepest instincts is to protect Kairi, I could still see Anti-Form/Rage Form doing its best to protect her. I do really like the idea of Anti-Form/Rage Form considering Kairi a threat though, since she has a heart of pure light and keeps Sora from giving in to his darkness though. Would be interesting to see Nomura explore this all more.
I do wonder how Rage Form will further evolve in KH4 though--imagine how it would look in the more photorealistic style, could be the stuff of nightmares lol. I also would be intrigued by it coming out around the other characters more like it did around Xehanort. I think it would be interesting to see how everyone reacts, to say the least.
Thanks for the ask!
