In SatAM, Why did the freedom fighters even bring Antoine on missions? I mean he was completely useless and was an active detriment to the group.
All Antoine ever did was 1) Cower 2)Make annoying noises 3) Mess things up 4) Thirst after Sally.
Because they're stupid and incompetent.
Compare how Game!Sonic and his allies took back the planet from Dr Eggman in just 6 months despite him achieving 99% dominance over it. Those monarchists spent 11 years trying to take back a planet that wasn't even 99% dominated and accomplished very little without a deus ex machina.

And so that’s it... nearly 200 issues deep, we’re done with the contributions of original writer Michael Gallagher. I’ve been asked in the past about the possibility of writing an article going over Gallagher’s run, like what I did with Penders. And I might still do that. But for now, here’s a shorter postmortem summarizing my feelings on the work of the original writer for history’s longest-running video game comic
Tumblr media
I think it’s easy to look back on Gallagher’s silly old stories with a lot of nostalgia, especially after seeing what the series would become in its Dark Age. I can’t blame anyone who feels this way. I feel that way sometimes, too. It was a simpler time, with short, self-contained stories and a ton of puns, and it was a lot more easily digestible than a lot of the teen melodrama and half-baked sci-fi that followed. But the thing is... that doesn’t mean that Gallagher’s writing was good
Gallagher was always an odd fit for Sonic. I can’t really blame the man for introducing lame concepts like Cal and Al that didn’t fit in with Sonic early on because it’s not like he had much to work with in the early days. The guy was expected to write a monthly comic series based on a couple 16-bit platformers with very little story and some snippets from a cartoon that wasn’t out yet. He also had no way of knowing that his work here would lay the foundation for the longest video game comic ever made. I don’t envy his job. Of course he’d do a goofball story where Sonic travels back to caveman times. It’s not like he had much else to do
But as the series progressed and the cartoons and games gave the comic writers more material to work with, Gallagher didn’t really play along. He gave us a few solid, fun stories like Mecha Madness, but for the most part he was off in his own world, trying to sell us on shoehorned characters like the Forty Fathom Freedom Fighters or the Downunda Freedom Fighters who existed almost exclusively to deliver new flavors of lame pun. One time he even worked with Jim Valentino to make a naval-gazing parody of classic Guardians of the Galaxy so they could make lame puns about a comic they used to write (that very few children in 2001 reading Archie Sonic would be familiar with)
Tumblr media
People generally pinpoint Penders as the guy who became obsessed with his own pet characters over the main cast as time went on, but really, Gallagher was just as guilty. And honestly, sometimes Gallagher doing it bugged me more. At least Penders had some prominent characters people actually liked, like Elias, Lara-Su, and Julie-Su, as well as some semblance of an overarching plot to work with. Meanwhile Gallagher was over here trying desperately to get people to care about a group of characters he had created exclusively as a vehicle for trite Australia jokes
Gallagher did introduce a few characters who stuck around, but he doesn’t really deserve much of the credit for that. Most notable would probably be Fiona Fox, who would become a major recurring character under later writers... except Gallagher only really invented her robotic doppelganger that Robotnik tricked Tails into falling in love with that one time. He created Knuckles’ grandfather Athair, the one comic character to somehow make it into a cartoon, but Penders helped out with that lore and did more with the character, meaning most people just assume he’s another Penders echidna. He created Tails’ parents, but Karl and Ian were the ones who actually did stuff with them. And he created the Ancient Walkers, who were kind of neat at first but quickly devolved into a tired plot device, only to be killed off by Ian almost immediately to cut down on the deus ex machinas. If you look at the list of characters Gallagher created, it’s mostly just randos he created for the sake of puns
And that’s really what most of it comes down to. Lame puns. I’m totally down for Sonic stories that go for a silly tone. I love Sonic Boom as much as the next fan, and I’ve been having a blast with the extremely goofy Sonic X comics. I’m not a cartoon snob who won’t watch a show that doesn’t have action and drama and lore, I’m out here watching shows like Apple & Onion. But while Gallagher could write good jokes sometimes, he mostly relied on groanworthy newspaper strip-level puns. (I guess it’s fitting, considering he’s related to both the guy who created Heathcliff AND his successor who makes those comics about the Garbage Ape.) I love me a good pun from time to time, and a lot of Gallagher’s are funnier when shared out of context, but when a story is just wall to wall puns it becomes agonizing. Puns should be a spice, not a main ingredient. And when Gallagher got a chance to follow an ACTUAL newspaper comic strip format in the Off Panel, he fared even worse. It was so rare for the Off Panels he wrote to actually be any funny
He WAS genuinely funny at times, though. I’ll give him credit for that. I don’t want it to seem like I hated ALL of his stories. (He did impress me with at least one political joke that’s sadly still relevant today, and in hindsight there’s something really funny on a meta level about the dark and gritty return of Cal and Al.) I think his best work came when he was paired with better artists. Scott Shaw’s more energetic Sonics really helped sell the cartoony comedy in the original miniseries, and obviously Spaziante’s work on Mecha Madness made that story legendary. When he was stuck with the less exciting Manak or Mawhinney, though, not so much
Tumblr media
Beyond the puns, there was also this undercurrent of nastiness, meanness, and general grossness in his stories that I don’t see as many fans pick up on. This was mainly evident in the many odd decisions he made with the female cast
We had his take on Sally, who was treated as little more than Sonic’s annoying, moody, bossy girlfriend who bickered with him, sat on a big throne, and occasionally got to be a damsel in distress. He added Bunnie to the cast early on, but it felt like he didn’t have many ideas for what to do with her except make her the butt of jokes about her being a southern belle, including literally making her say “the South shall rise again!” We had Barby Koala’s extremely creepy flirting with Tails, who was half her age. We had that tone deaf Off-Panel joke about turning the special dedicated to the female readers into a swimsuit special (which isn’t far off from what everyone else actually did). And we also had that baffling story where Dulcy killed her mother. I have NO idea what the fuck he thought he was going for with that one.
It wasn’t just the girls, though--Antoine was somehow even more of a punching bag in Gallagher’s early stories than he was on SatAM. At least in the cartoon Sonic was responding to Antoine’s’ massive ego when he poked fun at him. In the early comics, Sonic would constantly rag on Antoine at any opportunity he got. It was VERY distracting in the early issues, and it made his Sonic come off as way more of a jerk
Later writers would often talk about needing to fix certain characters. Penders, for all his countless insufferable faults, used his early stories to steer Sally towards the version of the character fans knew from SatAM. (He then ruined Sally in his own special way, but, you know.) Just about every writer who touched him spent years and years trying to fix Antoine and make readers stop hating him. The unspoken part here is that the original incarnations of these characters that everyone had to work so hard to fix... were Gallagher’s
Again, Gallagher didn’t have an easy job as the first writer on this series, and most of his stories were... fine. Nothing I’d recommend to non-fans, but they had their moments. They make for an amusing read for their sheer absurdity. But a lot of it ranged from not very good to outright bad. We’ll always cut him some slack for having so little to work off of when he started and for writing stories that were, in hindsight, better (or at least less grating) than a lot of the melodramatic schlock that came later. I’ll always have some nostalgia for those simpler times. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that Gallagher’s stuff was ever all that good
But I can’t hate the guy too much, because he gave me the greatest Sonic character of all time

Emily in Paris or why I stopped caring for the main character and started rooting for the French. Episode 2.
I must confess one thing. I have a sort of admiration for people who have the habit and the will of go running before work, because I don’t do these things, and people who can do it while wearing what seems like a lace top (?) maybe more adequate for other things, but who am I to judge if Emily looks perfectly fine when running while I look like a bag with sport wear. So congratulations Miss Cooper you are doing well in this aspect. Also shows that Emily is adapting her schedules and her habits to her new life. Example: she’s not going to arrive early to work this time. Lesson learnt, so good for her!
Tumblr media
Unfortunately there are still things she must get right. Example given, knowing exactly where her apartment is. She again tries to invade her cute neighbour’s home, which causes him to ask if she wants to live in his apartment. At this stage, there are reasons to suspect indeed. But there’s no time enough for our two character to devour each other with their eyes, so, after a last invitation to bang anytime from our delicious neighbour Emily goes back home to get a shower and dress for work.
Tumblr media
Her white boots, however, have an unfortunate encounter with a material of animal origin. She’s naturally disgusted and deals with it making another Instagram post. Discovering, by the way, that she’s gaining more and more followers for ther photos of fictional! Paris.
Sidenote: this scene can mean two things from yours truly’s point of view. Either Emily’s next days are going to be shitty or she’s going to be ultimately lucky. In France or Spain is very common to wish good luck with the word merde (or well, mierda in Spanish). In both cases it comes from the times people went to theatre or opera house in carriages drawn with horses. So a load of shit meant: you are in the greatest show in town. But probably is not that deep.
Tumblr media
At Savoir, la Plouc is decaying as Emily’s sobriquet, and only Julien greets her with it. Besides, Emily has learn to strike back. Or rather is her smartphone the one she uses to retort Va te faire foutre! Which mean Fuck you but it’s not that imaginative. Why not mange tes morts, or some decent French swearing. Anyway well done, Emily, because this makes her earn Julien’s respect.
Tumblr media
... But evidently not Sylvie’s. She is clearly contemplating the void and wondering if some kind of karmic justice has sent her this girl that can’t figure out why is la plouc instead of le plouc or won’t pronounce the name of the fragance De L’Heure from Lavaux. Sylvie doesn’t want to listen her ideas for promoting Lavaux’s last product. A little discussion insues between the two ladies. Must luxury remain an enclosed world? Should it be democratized in some way? Of course Emily thinks the point of view of an outsider could help, but, could you point at the outsider in this scene? Of course Emily is not French and still dealing with the continuous cultural clash. But she doesn’t seem an outsider by any means. And, ah. There’s a launch party for De L’Heure so she better hurry up and put some thing that doesn’t resemble whatever she’s wearing.
Tumblr media
Was that fashion advice from Sylvie? Who knows. In any case, Emily looks quite pretty with her black dress. The handbag is funny but highly debatable. And she’s overjoyed and bubbly as she pursues trays full of delicious food. Which is a faux pas, from Sylvie’s point of view.
Tumblr media
Enter Antoine Lambert from Maison Lavaux a.k.a. another Frenchman who is going to be attracted towards Emily’s many charms. Because that’s what Frenchmen do in this series. She fails to understand what a nose means in the world of fragances - it’s not that harsh to figure out, sometimes I wonder why they have written her like that; she’s suffering a severe case of cultural clash, but it doesn’t mean she’s stupid, argh -. Antoine is creeptractive. Especially in the next scene.
Tumblr media
Which takes place in this terrace with the gorgeous view of a glittering Eiffel Tower. This makes Emily smile and would do everyone else who had the opportunity to assist. This makes up for Sylvie saying that she’s talking too much about bussiness during the party, which is something she should not do.
Tumblr media
Monsieur le Creeptractive follows her and tests the fragance on her skin. A really weird dialogue about how she should have a French boyfriend because you learn French in bed... Yeah, sure.  Emily profess her fidelity to her engaged to be engaged Doug back in Chicago. Something that he doesn’t deserve but more on that immediately after. He smells her in a way that would make many women shudder and run away and compliments (?) her on smelling like expensive sex. Yikes yikes yikes.
Tumblr media
All in all, is a successful night for Emily, but as she discovers the next day, she’s supposed to work not in the promotion of De l’Heure, but in some product  called Vaga-Jeune to help woment to combat vaginal dryness. Is that a mean move by Sylvie, or it’s only a logical thing for Emily to start there, given she has experience in pharmaceuticals? Discuss. She also tells our heroine not to be too flirty with Antoine, who is married to one of her very good friends. But immediately after Julien drops the bomb: Sylvie is actually Antoine’s mistress. Oops.
Tumblr media
In order to deal with the amount of unwanted information, Emily texts to Mindy and they go for a dinner. Mindy gives her a few tips to survive in the complicate environment of a city where everyone is having affairs with everyone. As if in Paris - like everywhere else - didn’t exist people who doesn’t care about sex. In this universe, Emily still can’t wrap her head around the endemic lack of conyugal fidelity in this series.
Tumblr media
We learn more about Mindy, who maybe would deserve more than being only Asian token character which is supportive of the main one just because. Indeed Mindy is for now my favourite character here, along with Sylvie. Mindy turns out to be in Paris because her millionaire zipper king father wanted her in the bussiness school, but, since living in Paris was one of her dreams, Mindy dropped it and became a nanny instead. Now she’s been cut off by dad, but she’s free and, besides, she finds funny to have grown up surrounded by nannies and now being one of them.
Tumblr media
The temptation of MIndy taking over Emily in this series is too big when just in the next scene she thinks she can “educate the chef a little bit about customer service” without even tasting her steak, which she wants done more. Customer are not always right; some of them behave like annoying assholes. She swallows her words as Gabriel from downstairs emerges from the kitchen because of course he’s the chef. Somewhat that convinces her she should taste the steak before giving her opinion. It turns out the steak is wonderful, it was wonderful the whole time. Emily please. Try to behave.
(also Mindy wouldn’t mind to taste the chef instead of the steak, which is understandable)
Tumblr media
Next day Emily is happily roaming around the market with a little hat perched on her head and the mind full of Chicago Boyfriend Doug. The little hat is so stupid that it’s almost charming, like someone more fit for a musical than for real people walking on real streets. She seems to have befriended the woman from the boulangerie, too! However, the happiness is to be shortlived...
Tumblr media
... Because Doug, as his first scene already indicated, is someone who can’t bother to take his ass into a plane and fly to Paris where there is nothing to do while expecting for his girlfriend to come back from job. This guy must have one, but he’s so lazy that one wonders if he inherited it. Notice that, unlike in Paris, there are cars in Chicago. Doug proceeds then to inelegantly dump his girlfriend by phone.
Tumblr media
Very fitting to have Emily standing just next to the Panthéon when the call is over and their relationship as dead as the people inside.
Tumblr media
Emily is logically sad after this and the weather seems to agree with her mood, probably she cried to her sleep, or at least she shed some tears. He doesn’t deserve it, honey.
Tumblr media
Her mood doesn’t improve when, at the office, she discovers a new thing. Yes, you have grammatical gender in French, as well as in other European languages. She is puzzled because, starting her campaign for Vaga-Jeune, she discovers vagine is a masculine word in French. She doesn’t understand it, and, in typical Emily fashion, she decides the problem is with this language she knows virtually nothing about.
Tumblr media
She also learns a very important word for her future life in Paris: grève, which means strike. And it’s not going only a vagina strike. But who knows, she lives in a parallel universe so maybe there are no strikes there (since there is no public transport and/or services on sight even if we know it exist somewhere). And of course, post something on her Instagram account about how vaginas are not masculine.
Tumblr media
During her (daily, one guess) conversation with Mindy during the lunch break, Emily loses at last this overoptimistic side of her that makes the character annoying and vents a little about her general exasperation. She thinks she’ll never learn the language (but girl, you barely tried, don’t be so harsh with yourself), or be simply tolerated by her workmates, or even understand how the city was built. She’ll be all right, Mindy insists, not very impressed at her friend’s disperation.
Tumblr media
Which follows is one of the most cringeworthy deus-ex-machina I have seen, and adequately being a deus-ex-machina it comes from l’Élysée. Wink wink, mythology aficionados.
Tumblr media
By the way, it’s that the façade which gives to the main courtyard of the French presidential palace? Yes it is. Here I am wondering where this footage came from and when it was filmed because I am that way. Seems the flag is at half mast from that point of view so... this could help to know in which moment was filmed... But screw that, you aren’t here for my personal obsessions, so lets go right to the point.
Tumblr media
Somewhat Carla Bruni finds Emily’s post about vaginas utterly fascinating, to the extent that she has to share it with Brigitte Macron. And of course the current French First Lady (even if officially there is not such title in France) agrees and posts it in her Twitter account. We only see Fictional!Brigitte from her back. Real Brigitte doesn’t have accounts on social networks, by the way, which is understandable since after a while one gets tired of playing the game of guessing if the one who made the mysoginist and idiotic post is from the extreme right or the extreme left (it’s a difficult thing to tell apart, I assure you). Of course Emily’s post gets viral.
Tumblr media
Brigitte Macron just retweeted you, bitch! is not bad as unexpected sentence on a screenplay in 2020, congratulations. Her partners at Savoir are overjoyed and suddenly Emily can share a table with them, yay! Though evolving from la plouc to our Vaga-Jeune is not really improving that much I guess? So that’s the end of the episode and Emily’s life seems not-so-that-depressing all of a sudden. So thank you Brigitte.
Tumblr media
And that was Episode 2 of Emily in Paris. Our heroine was slightly less annoying than on first one, probably because the reality of being in a totally different country is starting to hit her and she’s had a few humblings by this moment. For the next one, we’ll know more about Monsieur le Creeptractive & the nonsense of fragance advertisements.

And that’s it! Robotnik wandering the swamp, for some reason on foot, looking for Knothole.
Overall I liked this one. Snively’s plan was solid, albeit a bit ambitions when just handing Sonic over to Robotnik would have been a guaranteed win for him. The bits with the Freedom Fighters were equally understandable, with Sally and Chuck immediately putting together a solid plan to handle the assault and Tails being the weak link in things simply by being a kid who is blinded to oddities with Sonic if it means hanging out with his hero. If only Antoine and Dulcey were allowed to be more than joke characters though. Not sure how much it could have added but it would have been nice.
I did really like that the solution to the memory loss was the standard deus ex machina instead of something like a sudden bout of willpower or really caring for his friends or something like that.
I’ll see the lot of you on Monday for the next episode of Mighty Max: Scorpio Rising. I’m drawing a for this episode but I do remember playing with the set that almost certainly inspired it. Have a great weekend!

77. Sonic the Hedgehog #49
Tumblr media
Previous / Table of Contents / Next
Escape from the Floating Island
Writers: Mike Gallagher and Ken Penders Pencils: Sam Maxwell Colors: Karl Bollers
After another recap intro page, we're thrust right back into the action from last issue's literal cliffhanger. Sonic finds himself plunging down a terrifying drop with certain death at the bottom. He's too exhausted from all the chaos to try his figure eight move to hover, so instead, he decides on potentially the most ridiculous and disgusting option possible to save his skin instead.
Tumblr media
This madlad grabs the stink lines and dirt from his own horrifically disgusting socks, throws it in an arc, and races along it like it's solid ground to reach actual solid ground. I cannot even begin to fathom how something like that works, but hey, it works, and Sonic is able to run for it away from Geoffrey and his troops, who are forced to take the long route back through the caverns to follow him, though they still have the advantage of the tracking device implanted in his shackles.
Back at Knothole, everyone learns how Robotnik was able to carry out his plan. The miraculously-revived king was no more than a robotic duplicate.
Tumblr media
The real king, still crystallized, is currently within his base, where we see another familiar face - Dr. Quack, handing over Sally's death certificate (which actually lists Sally's full name as "Sally Elisha Acorn," though her middle name's spelling was later retconned as we'll see) to Snively and demanding that Snively "fulfill his end of the bargain." Wait, what? Snively merely opens a wall panel, to reveal Dr. Quack's wife and children, imprisoned behind bars. When Dr. Quack reacts in outrage and anger, Snively blasts him with some kind of energy beam as motivation to behave.
Tumblr media
Wait… falsified? So Princess Sally isn't actually…?
Yeah, here's the thing. I was playing along with the narrative before, but I'm sure anyone reading this without having read the comics beforehand was saying to themselves "Of course she's not actually dead, she's one of the comics' main characters! They wouldn't just kill off a main character in such a sudden, ignoble manner!" But that's where you, my good friend, are wrong as hell! See, this scene marks a hard right turn that Kenders was basically forced to make by (from what I've heard) Sega themselves. At about this point in the comic, he'd gotten it into his weird little Penders-y head that no one really cared about Sally anyway, that she was an unpopular character who "cramped Sonic's style" as the cool guy he was always meant to be, and decided to kill her off for real. As in, her "death" in the first issue of Endgame was actually meant to be 100% serious, with Sally gone forever. Of course, this immediately resulted in a huge outcry from devastated fans who loved Sally and didn't want to see her suddenly killed off, and so Penders had to rewrite the next three issues to make sure she could be brought back. But shh! You didn't hear that from me! We're still pretending to be shocked that she's not actually dead, okay?
Meanwhile in the wilderness, Sonic is trudging his way along, exhausted and desperate for help. Suddenly, he remembers that by doing a certain whistle he can call Dulcy to him, and she arrives, eager to help. She also says something… very interesting.
Tumblr media
So dragons can sense truth, huh? *takes deep breath* WHEN WAS THIS ESTABLISHED?! I get that in this case King Acorn was going to sentence Sonic to prison anyway given that he was just a puppet of Robotnik's, so her testimony might not have mattered anyway, but damn, dude! Where was Dulcy when Sonic was accused of treason back in StH#40? Where was she when literally anyone was saying something suspicious or seemingly impossible? Dulcy alone could have solved like half the plots of this comic series by herself! Sigh. Kenders, you really need to learn to stop including random facts like this out of the blue when you've written yourself into a corner. A real writer doesn't solve plot holes through a deus-ex-machina, they cry and eat Denny's at 3am while their plots fall apart! No I'm not speaking from experience! Why do you ask?
Well, back at Hershey's place, Drago's only being more and more of a douche. Hershey has only just heard the news about Sally's death, and is horrified when Drago gleefully reveals that she's the one who did it! But how?
Tumblr media
Yeah, turns out she was convinced by him to wear a Sonic costume, somehow, and the eyepieces made everyone look like Snively. She thought she was helping the Freedom Fighters by killing Snively, but was the one who dropped Sally all along. She's devastated, and left to sob on the ground as Drago happily celebrates his own genius in trusting Robotnik for personal power, because that's never backfired in anyone else's face before, has it?
Now we finally get to see what happened to Antoine and Bunnie after they were captured last issue. They've been hauled all the way to a prison in Downunda, and shackled to the wall, fitted with customized collars. Bunnie's is merely tuned to sense when she uses her bionic parts' capabilities to try to escape, while Antoine's is tuned to explode violently if Bunnie's collar gives the signal. Ouch, man.
Tumblr media
They soon find that Walt Wallabee and Barby Koala are locked in with them, looking rather the worse for wear. Before they can get further than basic introductions (remember, only Tails has met these guys before), who shows up to greet everyone but Crocbot! Apparently, he didn't actually die when his tank exploded back in the Tails miniseries. He was badly damaged, but built himself back up from combot parts and has taken control of this region once again, running this slave labor camp to mine ore for Robotnik. He was pissed at his past defeat, and so made it a point to capture the Downunda Freedom Fighters the first chance he could. Yeah, capture, not kill. 'Cause remember how this guy has a hard-on for cold-blooded torture?
Tumblr media
Who knows how long those poor Downunda Freedom Fighters have been locked up in here, man. At least they're still alive, right?
While all this has been going down, Dulcy has been flying Sonic to his requested destination - the Floating Island, where he hopes to get help from the only neutral third party he really has left. Unfortunately, he seems to have forgotten that whenever he and Knuckles appear in the same issue together, it's a hard rule that they have to start punching each other for no reason.
Tumblr media
This time, however, they're barely able to start their shenanigans up when they're interrupted by Geoffrey and his troops parachuting in to recapture their quarry. Oh boy, more drama! Guess we’ll see where it all goes in the big landmark issue #50…

Ok So Here’s My Sonic AU Idea Thing
I can’t come up with a drawing to open the conversation with, so have this text post instead.
This is just for context so things’ll make sense when I start posting some stuff later.
(Putting it under the cut to conserve space)
It’s a re-write of the Sonic Underground storyline with a few alterations. For one, it actually ties into the events of the Archie comics (up to Issue #50-ish since that’s about as far as I ever got in the comics).
Also, I’m saying the comics because I’ve never watched the cartoon which, apparently, roughly followed the comic’s plot
It’s also sort of a bridge or transition between the classic sonic games and the modern Sonic games, so it precedes the events of the Sonic Adventure games but comes after all the games that were shown in the comics (I think Triple Trouble was the last one before issue #50 happened?).
Honestly, I’m just adding changes that I really wish had been done in the Sonic Underground cartoon, and I’m tightening the storyline to be more plot driven. Here are a few of those ideas, since I don’t really know how to draw them right now but I still wanna share them.
World Building
Mobius is a continent that’s been divided between two mobian nations: South Mobius (which had been ruled by Queen Aleena) and North Mobius (King Acorn’s country).
That means that yeah, Knothole, the Freedom Fighters, and all of those comic-based locations are limited to North Mobius.
The Freedom Fighters are not affiliated with South Mobius. It was really weird for me to hear reference to the freedom fighters in SU even though the characters that I associated that term with (Sally, Bunnie, Antoine, Rotor, etc) never made an appearance. South Mobius has its own rebel organization, the Underground Rebellion—or just the Underground for short.
Since Mobotropolis is a part of North Mobius, South Mobius’s capital is called Monarchy City—renamed Anarchy City when Robotnik took over
Plot
In order to conserve the comic storyline, Sonic was a part of the Freedom Fighters, but he left post-issue #50′s events and after learning about his heritage (from the Oracle).
There are no magic instruments because they were silly and I can’t figure out how to integrate them into the plot, but they still mess with music to some degree
Tails is a part of the group. He is with Sonic when Sonic goes to look for Sonia and Manic, and as a part of the team, Tails is their tech support, weapons provider, master pilot, and “guy-in-the-chair” aid (can’t think of a better desc. right now xD) during missions.
Off duty, he’s just a part of this dysfunctional group of siblings living in a van together.
Let’s get this out of the way: Chuck really is Sonic’s biological uncle, and he raised Sonic in Mobotropolis, North Mobius on his own.
Aleena is not going to make those random appearances where she helps ex Machina the triplets or pushes the plot along in some way. She’s on the run too, so she’s trying to keep away from the triplets and deal with her own opposition. The triplets are more solo in that aspect.
Gonna be posting some character sheets and notes soon, so until then—
Tumblr media
Later!

Hey ! I hope you're doing fine, happy new year ~ I wanted to know what are some popular movies/movies with good reviews that are, in your opinion, "overrated" ? Movies you think are bad (a waste of time !) & movies that weren't that bad, had interesting points, but weren't as good as you expected and you wouldn't watch again ?
You always have the best questions for me regarding films. Happy New Year to you too sorry I’m getting to this question so late. Alright well, the keyword is opinion so to anyone else reading this please bear that in mind. I don’t read nearly as many reviews as I should because I watch movies kind of late anyway. That’s in reference to in-depth reviews, not the basic ones from critics that are promoted during the commercial. I try to attend/watch a movie unbiased from reactions so I don’t become hyperfocused on highlights or sore spots. You didn’t really give me a timeline or specific era to work with. So to give myself a limitation I’ll focus on films made in the past 4 years. Popular films from 2014-2018
Mild Waste of Time — these are basically films you’d leave playing in the background or even get up in the middle in just to do something more interesting.
The Interview dir. Seth Rogen & Evan Goldberg ( it was only really popular because of the controversy but still worth noting ) 2014
Godzilla dir. Garreth Edwards 2014
Transformers: Age of Extinction dir. Michael Bay ( I saw this movie 1 to many times and wondered how I ended back in the theatre.  This is more for big transformer fans if anything) 2014
Non-Stop dir. Jaume Collet-Serra 2014
Lucy dir. Luc Besson 2014
‘71 dir. Yann Demange 2014
Edge of Tomorrow dir. Doug Liman 2014
Jupiter Ascending dir. Wachowski Brothers 2015
Knock Knock dir. Eli Roth 2015
The Age of Adaline dir. Lee Toland Krieger 2015
Terminator: Age of Genisys dir. Alan Taylor 2015
10 Cloverfield Lane dir. Dan Trachtenberg 2016
Sausage Party dir. Conrad Vernon, Greg Tiernan 2016
Warcraft dir. Duncan Jones 2016
Gods of Egypt dir Alex Poryas 2016
Now You See Me 2 dir. Jon M. Chu 2016
Baby Driver dir. Edgar Wright 2017
John Wick 2 dir. Chad Stahelski 2017
Upgrade dir. Leigh Whannell 2018
The Meg dir. Jon Turteltaub 2018
Halloween dir. David Gordon Green 2018
Overrated —  everything in this category was hyped or talked to a point of misleading viewers or just general inflation due to big names or some element that didn’t quiet measure up.
The Hobbit: the Battle of Five Armies dir. Peter Jackson ( I can rant forever an a day about this bc I’m definitely a LOTR fan and I was just pretty disappointed with this hobbit series ) 2014
Inherent Vice dir. Paul Thomas Anderson 2014
The Man from U.N.C.L.E. dir. Guy Ritchie 2015
Batman v. Superman dir. Zack Snyder 2016
Suicide Squad dir. David Ayer 2016
Star Trek Beyond dir. Justin Lin 2016
The Magnificent Seven dir. Antoine Fuqua 2016
Passengers dir. Morten Tyldum 2016
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them dir. David Yates 2016
Call Me By Your Name dir. Luca Guadagnino 2017
Atomic Blonde dir. David Leitch 2017
Kong: Skull Island dir. Jordan Vogt-Roberts 2017
Ready Player One dir. Steven Spielberg 2018
A Simple Favor dir. Paul Feig 2018
Skyscraper dir. Rawson Marshall Thurber 2018
Solo dir. Ron Howard 2018
Overlooked — everything in this category probably has an underappreciated tone/cast/storyline/cinematographic shots/score/costume/timing/ just eclipsed by other films to be appreciated
The Drop dir. Michaël R. Roskam 2014
Ex-Machina dir. Alex Garland 2014
It Follows dir. David Robert Mitchell 2014
Whiplash dir. Damien Chazelle 2014
Boyhood dir. Richard Linklater 2014
Foxcatcher dir. Bennett Miller 2014
Black Mass dir. Scott Cooper 2015
South Paw dir. Antoine Fuqua 2015
Crimson Peak dir. Guillermo Del Toro 2015
The Lobster dir. Yorgos Lanthimos 2015
The Handmaiden dir. Park Chan Wook 2016
Don’t Breathe dir. Fede Álvarez 2016
Hail, Caesar! dir. The Cohen Brothers 2016
Kubo and the Two Strings dir. Travis Knight 2016
The Big Sick dir. Michael Showalter 2017
Three Billboards Outside Ebbing. Missouri dir. Martin McDonagh 2017
Wonder dir. Stephen Chbosky 2017
Mother! dir. Darren Aronofsky 2017
Molly’s Game dir. Aaron Sorkin 2017
Ladybird dir. Greta Gerwig 2017
Widows dir. Steve McQueen 2018
Game Night dir. John Francis Daley & Jonathan Goldstein 2018
Annihilation dir. Alex Garland 2018
Venom dir. Ruben Fleischer 2018
Isle of Dogs dir. Wes Anderson 2018
Can You Ever Forgive Me? dir. Marielle Heller 2018
Eighth Grade dir. Bo Burnham 2018
*There are films in all these categories that I do still enjoy but I feel they are some aspects catered to my liking specifically. I also left the very big names out because I feel they didn’t fit any of the categories.

Mary Shelley, H. G. Wells, Isaac Asimov, Ursula K. Le Guin, Arthur C. Clarke, Margaret Atwood, Philip K. Dick.
Confira a lista abaixo:
1 - O Caçador Cibernético da Rua Treze
Tumblr media
4 - Deixe as estrelas falarem
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
“1911. Porto Alegre.
7 - V.I.S.H.N.U
Tumblr media

i’m feeling really nostalgic about agents of shield because it’s usually around the end of september that the new season starts but this time we have to wait until the end of the year for season 5 because they really want to make inhumans a thing even though it looks so shitty
but guys
doesn’t the whole framework arc feel like a fever dream or crack fic
i mean
they literally spent the last third of the fourth season simultaneously roasting the trump administration for 6 episodes in a row, somehow making coulson even dorkier than imaginable, having the word “soap” spoken in an episode approximately 55 times, finally providing a semblance of closure to ward fans, traumatizing the fitzsimmons fandom in new and brutal ways, bringing back the noise and the funk mr antoine triplett and reminding us all how much everyone loves him, turning jeffrey mace into the hero he never quite got to be in real life, making everyone cry about mack’s daughter, teasing a philinda conversation about feelings, throwing in a ghostrider ex machina for good measure, and finally ending the season with phil! in! space! space phil!!
like
???!???!!
we’ve come so far since season 1 you guys

Matter ex Machina - Lecture in Buenos Aires - Argentina - Thursday October 22nd 17:00h BA, 15:00h EST, 21:00 CET, 05:00 Shanghai (Friday) I'm very much looking forward to speak at the upcoming Primavera Fest 2020 at the centro Poiesis of the MIP (Maestría en Investigación Proyectual), FaDU Facultad de Arquitectura Diseño y Urbanismo - Universidad de Buenos Aires. Lecture: Matter ex Machina - Attempt of an Ontological interrogation of Architecture and Artificial Intelligence. The zoom lecture is almost sold out, but it will be streamed on Facebook if you are interested. : https://www.mipov.org/matterexmachina You can try to reserve a seat at the bottom of the page. More about the lecture: The discussion in this Lecture pertains to the nature of agency in a design ecology in which human ingenuity meets Artificial Intelligence. What is changed through this novel relationship in the design process? Is it rather an Extended Intelligence, or does AI create genuinely novel architectural solutions? Novel measured by which standards? The Lecture interrogates aspects of sensibility -the ability of artists and designers to invent genuinely new ideas in terms of shape, content, and materialization- and compares them to solutions found by Neural Networks and other AI applications. The Lecture collects positions from art and architecture, and places them face to face, to demonstrate the crosspollination between AI generated art and architecture. The result is an attempt to critically interrogate the ontological frame pertaining to material and symbolic cultures emerging from architecture design assisted by Artificial Intelligence. The lecture is followed by a Q&A moderated my Federico Menichetti (Frank Menichetti Arch) Check out the other slots of the Primavera Fest 2020!
